LD35 — Shapeshift

windowframe by managore 2016-04-22T21:33:00

Wow, this is awesomely polished, has an incredibly original game mechanic, nice graphics, nice sounds, and amazing level design! All design decisions (long recollect time, and not being able to recollect while in the air) make sense, and the levels are designed accordingly. I enjoyed the two-stake level with the two cannons shooting down most. Thank you so much for making this, managore!

Dave from Bungie by Dmitrix 2016-04-19T21:36:00

Enjoyed it, good work! :) When replaying, being able to skip the cutscenes would be awesome.

I Ordered A Different Burger by garygreen 2016-04-18T20:34:00

I also think this is a great piece of art. Very well written. I like the music, too! This reviewer does not complain.

Cyan by rxi 2016-04-19T20:35:00

This game looks and sounds very nice! I struggled with the controls, and wished you could fly for longer periods of time.

shapeshift beat by Allov 2016-04-19T00:18:00

Congrats on completing your first LD game! I like the music, and noticed there seem to be different pieces? Collecting mechanics are also always nice! :)

Shapeshift Racer by 02fc.exe 2016-04-18T17:57:00

Wow! I love it! Incredible graphics and audio! It's like an interactive demo scene video! I'd play more of this.

Sluggy's Tiny Adventure by FrankieSmileShow 2016-04-19T20:31:00

Awesome art, you are really talented! I enjoyed playing this. Didn't know how to continue at the point where the ghost come from the bottom.

The Mysterious Shapeshifter by TheColorMan 2016-04-19T21:15:00

Yes, the Windows build is working now! Nice mechanic, I enjoyed it, thanks for making it :) The story images are very low-resolution.

Abducktion by JohnnySix 2016-04-18T23:14:00

Wow. This is absolutely stunning. I really enjoyed all of it. That music...

The Amorphous Adventure of Blod by Croze 2016-04-18T11:40:00

Haha, I enjoyed the characters :) Levels are a bit linear. Tried to escape from the level hub to the left, but ran into some death stars :D

Block 1 by crazyrems 2016-04-18T21:57:00

Wow! Really well done, and really polished! I absolutely love the block's bounciness. My favorite LD game so far! I'd play a longer version of this! 10/10

Polyshift by keyboardmonkey 2016-04-18T21:32:00

I also love the transitions! Found the gameplay a tad too simple. But fun, nevertheless!

Clayblob by Clayblob 2016-04-18T11:32:00

Cute :) I took a while for the second level (the long jump), and gave up on the flying/wall-eating one... Awesome that you finally got to realize your childhood idea!

Perspective by Jeasonfire 2016-04-18T11:47:00

I beat it :) Thanks for making this! Nice game mechanic, would like to play a longer version of it. In the embedded version, it has some issues with losing mouse focus (Chrome): After switching to 3D you have to click the window again so your mouse does not leave the game window.

Stoopid Robats by Gravedrinker 2016-04-18T22:20:00

Score: 30 :) Well-rounded game! It's a little hard to remember which button does which shape. Nice sound effects and graphics! Thanks for making this! SKULL BREAKER!!!

Shape Shifter by Slothmachine 2016-04-22T22:24:00

Wow, this is a beautiful geometric game mechanic! Enjoyed it, although planning ahead was a bit hindered by the delayed and seemingly selection of the next target. Thanks for making this!!

Shift the shape... best name ever! by BuddaKaeks 2016-04-18T17:53:00

My heart stopped for a moment on "Trying to find boot drive"! Didn't look at the screenshot too carefully :D

It's "Executed". And for me, the game seems to hang as soon as any merge operation is performed. But I like the core idea and the "terminal window" style! :)

Aeroteque by dustyroom 2016-04-19T21:23:00

Best score: 107 - but I didn't know you could double-jump :D Very, very addicting! The controls have a little much delay for my taste. I'll definitely come back to this, thanks for making it!

Rock-Paper-Scissors Man by Idorrac 2016-04-18T18:08:00

Haha, awesome! :D I love this idea. Nice graphics and audio, too!

Dungeon Shift by sirikan 2016-04-18T20:59:00

Well done! :) I liked the zombie sounds! :D Didn't recognize the LD theme, though.

I just want a taco by Garris 2016-04-18T20:44:00

I got tacos! <3 And had a lot of fun with this! Beautifully executed! The game mechanic is a bit like in the game "Obake", shoudln't you happen to know it!

March of the Wizards by BarkingCat 2016-04-18T23:45:00

The wizards are so cute :3 I also really like the music!

The order of things and colors by dickpoelen 2016-04-19T22:12:00

I like this! Nice music! Does it have a goal? For some reason, it's really blurry/pixelated in the web player.

JellyBean by marvalgames 2016-04-18T18:11:00

"Windows" link is dead.

Sunshift by guimonpa 2016-04-22T22:09:00

I absolutely adore the "window" style of the levels. Game is too hard to be really enjoyable for me, though ;-) But thanks for making it!

Paperchase by DragonXVI 2016-04-19T22:22:00

Whew, this is nice! I think the letter box animations are absolutely adorable! <3 You don't have any reason to be so self-critical in the game! Graphics, sound effects, music, level design is all very awesomely done! Found the plane form a little hard to control. Plain 5/5 in each category, never did this before. Thanks for making this! :)

rain contact by remmy 2016-04-19T17:14:00

That was an awesome experience, thanks for making it! I coudln't really figure out what happened, my best guess: A child woke up from a nightmare, then got out of the house and played with a cat... Anyway, it's a promising game mechanic!

UPSHIFT by Jessica Hayley 2016-04-19T20:17:00

Nice game! I also felt kind of hindered by the controls, but I loved the basic idea and especially the nice build-up in the music! I'd play more of this!

The Aurora Project by doomista 2016-04-18T20:48:00

I got this error, too. After downloading the DLL and putting it in the Bin folder, I got error 0xc000007b.

Dream Walking by SuperDolfy 2016-04-18T21:10:00

Nice idea, the shapeshifting levels! Movement/jumping is really frustrating, though.

Conflict: Transforming Warfare by Aggrathon 2016-04-18T21:08:00

Wow, well done! I really like the fluid movements, the AI, the models! I enjoyed it, thanks for making it!

Space Shifters by Terrabalt 2016-04-19T00:09:00

It's difficult, and the idea is one chosen by many in this LD, but the graphics and audio are quite nice! Well done!

Shapeshift (by sulix) by Sulix 2016-04-18T22:12:00

Hey, little Linux-only game without binaries! I'll play you! I like your symbol-shifting animation! I also really like your game mechanic! Your floating spheres remind me a little of "The Talos Principle"! To find the exit got a little frustrating after a while, but I think I made it to the fifth level! Thanks for existing, little game!

Geo Fighter by SetArray 2016-04-18T18:04:00

@SetArray, I think you need to include some more files.

Attached by roban101 2016-04-19T21:43:00

I like the graphics, awesome job! Found it a little hard to control juggling Q, A, D and E at the same time.

Mouth shape, pitch shift by Blastopio 2016-04-18T21:04:00

Just staring up the game, it's a little unclear how to set the pattern. Good work on the 3D model! :)

Polyblob Bob by unnamed1334 2016-04-18T21:50:00

I love the idea, it's definitely one of the best implementations of the theme I've seen so far! :) Found Bob quite hard to control, though.

The Creation by RyanMan56 2016-04-18T21:27:00

I love it! Everything fits together really well. I was sorry for the cat ("Whyyy??"), and I loved the ending! Beautiful music! Thank you for making this!

Audioplasmic by uvwar 2016-04-18T20:53:00

I had fun watching the particles dance to the music! :) Would definitely make a nice screensaver! I don't think you are allowed to use 3rd party music for compo entries, though.

Cutting Hedge by Headmade 2016-04-18T21:24:00

Great name, *very* satisfying sounds and mechanic! Physics! Definitely the best game I've played so far. Thanks for making it!

Imaginary Dungeon by brunocoimbra 2016-04-19T00:03:00

I love the title graphic, the music, and the scary roaring sound :D

Square Peg Round Hole by RealityCheck 2016-04-22T22:21:00

It's a nice idea, but I wasn't really drawn into the game. Nice sounds, looks quite professional! Good job for 48 hours!

Theseus by TheMeorch 2016-04-22T23:16:00

Hey TheMeorch, I really, really enjoyed this. After playing Snakebird, the difficulty of this was just about right. I stop playing at level 22 for now, but will come back later :) The mood is awesome, and the continuity of the shape between levels is impressive! Good level design, too! Perfect implementation of the theme. Theseus is my favorite LD game so far! <3 The (pleasant!) music got a little annoying after a while.

Sergei's Virus by avinashd 2016-04-22T22:04:00

Whoa, nice! I really enjoyed the first few levels! A built-in help system or something would have been helpful ;-)

Shadow of the Red Hand by andyman404 2016-04-22T21:37:00

Heh, I enjoyed this! The graphics are amazingly creative! Actually, it was a little frustrating to play for me because I died *a lot* :) But this is really well done, congrats!

Eat, Grow, Fix by davesoft 2016-04-19T00:12:00

It feels a little like Dwarf Fortress, but on cellular level :) As others have noted, the rules seem a bit complicated.

OBfu by zowesiouff 2016-04-22T22:17:00

I'm afraid I didn't really enjoy this. "Expanding" the spider web was veeeery slow in some of the first levels. Didn't see how I could progress further. I probably missed some core mechanic. I love the graphic style, though!

SUBJECT 26 by MSiddeek 2016-05-01T08:41:00

I'M A BUTTERFLY, HEHEHE! This is a really well-done and fun game, thank you for making it! Good athmosphere! Enjoyable puzzles! Movement felt a bit slow. I missed sound effects.

ShapeCrafter by EstrelSteel 2016-04-18T22:23:00

"A Java Exception has occurred." :-( On Windows 7.

Eggplant’s Dynamic Chimerization by DAT.NOT.MY.GAME! 2016-04-22T23:27:00

Wow, really amazing graphics and audio! The goal is a bit unclear, and movement feels tedious.

Neon Level Switcher by theck 2016-04-19T20:38:00

Crashes on me: "Unsupported version 52.0"

Stellar Pendulum by dwhiffing 2016-04-19T00:22:00

25000 points :) I love this mechanic! Nice, simple graphics and audio, too! Thanks for making this game, I might come back to it :)

Formorph by Solocov 2016-04-19T21:51:00

Hehe, nice game :) Minimalistic art style, but we can imaging the rest ourselves :) I got to the point with the large lava pool and wondered how to get across, until it "clicked"! Nice idea! I stopped playing at the ladder part with the many red death blocks underneath.

Infinite Vertices by CoderCameron 2016-04-19T22:28:00

I love it! Awesome changing title texts, I'm gonna steal that sometime :P Good music, too!

Disarranged by Sheepolution 2016-04-22T21:51:00

Hahahah, loved the cutscenes and especially the song!! Really, really well done! Tried about five times to finish it, but always was seen :-(

Shape Soup by jeroenwimmers 2016-04-22T21:55:00

Niiice audio! I really enjoyed the game, thanks for making it! The delayed control is a little hard to grasp.

Pretend by davor10105 2016-04-18T22:27:00

Hey, nice game! :) I love the transitions between the different animals. Clever level design! Sound is a bit quiet. Thanks for making this!

Nami No Mizu by PanicTheFirst 2016-04-18T23:59:00

This surely is a unique game! Pretty, pieceful. A bit simple, though.

XForm Arena by sanojian 2016-04-19T17:32:00

Neat, I like the transformations! Unfortunately there was nobody around. The purpose of the three ship states wasn't really clear to me.

GeoShift by WASD 2016-04-22T23:24:00

The music is wonderful, but so short :( Wasn't really drawn into the gameplay. Graphics are nice!!

Polytopian by sudojess 2016-04-19T21:09:00

Wooow, this was really, relly fun! I didn't experience many bugs! The peeking mechanic is really interesting, and I definitely would like to play a longer version of this! Thank you so much for making this! One of my favorite LD games so far!

Helium-4 by mountainstorm 2016-04-19T22:15:00

It's fun :) Nice music, too! Got tired of clicking after a while, though.

Quadrilateral Circle by FrozenCow 2016-04-18T22:57:00

Heyhey, FrozenCow, I remember you, too! :D

This game is amazing! The shapes complement each other really well in their movement mechanics, and the level design feel like a thorough exploration of the related idea space. Thanks for making it! I'd like to play more of this! :)

You might enjoy the game "Type:Rider", which has similar mechanics.

Exhuman by Arvydas 2016-04-18T23:52:00

Awesome graphics and audio! I also couldn't really accustom myself to the controls.

Oops! My Dear is a Deer by Remdiky 2016-04-19T21:40:00

Haha, enjoyed it :) Thanks for making this! Awesome shapeshift transitions! When just starting up the game, the goal is unclear.

Cloud Sculptor by Naca 2016-05-01T08:29:00

It's a nice little game, and it's a very original take on the theme! Well done! :) The music got bit repetetive after a while.

Pellanor's Shapeshift Game With A Terrible Title by Pellanor 2016-04-18T21:37:00

Well done :) It's a bit frustrating that multiple presses of the Shift key activate some disability features on Windows. The 3D view when dying is nice, but might be unintentional? :-)

The Adventures of Box Boy by airdinghy 2016-04-19T12:20:00

I like the animals :) Good work on the sound design, too, although the walking sound gets a bit annoying after a while :P

Blink by samlo 2016-04-19T20:42:00

Huh, it gets hard really fast! But in a good way! Love the controls, graphics, sounds! Nothing to complain, everything to love! Thanks for making this!

Oh What a Night by Siegfried Croes 2016-04-19T22:00:00

Haha, this is awesomely done, congratulations! I would definitely like to play a version with sound!

Fluffy Cookies by PavelPooh 2016-04-19T20:25:00

Wow, what a beautiful game! I baked Cthulhu, a cat, and death. It's definitely unclear what the ingredients are (which one is sugar?!). Nevertheless, I liked this very much!

Shadow Hand by draq22 2016-04-18T17:47:00

Beautiful idea :) Good work!

"Exit" doesn't seem to do anything, and it's confusing that in the second half of the tutorial, you cannot fly anymore.

viA Morpha by Seth_senpai 2016-04-18T22:16:00

Sooo pretty! *_* I don't really understand why the molecule moves the way it does, but I could guide it to the exit for some levels :) Really like the sounds!

Monstershift by redwizard 2016-04-22T22:30:00

Hey, good job! The purpose of the shapes didn't come really clear to me. Jumping physics feel sluggish, like under water. Graphics are really beautiful, would have loved to rate in that category!

Pluto's Tears by kestrelgames 2016-04-19T21:00:00

Wow, I had a lot of fun playing through this. Awesome concept and nice writing :) Sooo much atomic waste :(

TBFTWORLudum_Dare35 by joemid 2016-04-19T21:28:00

No idea of the goal of this game, but roaring like a dinosaur is nice! Awesome special effects! The long in-between sequences were a little annoying.

Shapeshiftmaze by duenschnlate 2016-04-18T22:01:00

Well done! Even though it's a bit unpolished, there are many ideas which I like. The level graphics are pretty!

Wobble Yoga by q_dork 2016-04-19T17:19:00

Nice! That's an innovative control scheme, but I found it very hard. I coudn't do the split for the second pose, despite trying for several minutes :-/ I loved to fly around, next time you could make a spiderman/superhero game or something :)

RainbowSnakeFail by qf 2016-04-18T23:40:00

I think it's cute! :) I like it when there are really many dots, flashing synchronously :D

CastleMania by SuperPokeunicorn 2016-04-18T21:45:00

Love the death melody :D Good job on the game! Music is indeed a bit annoying after a while :P

LD36 — Ancient Technology

War party by Rogue Sprite 2016-08-30T14:11:00

Very well-done pixel graphics, music and sound effects! Everything fits together quite nicely. Very satisfying to slash through the enemy forces! We would have liked more content, like creating buildings.

Potential bugs: With large party sizes, sometimes the movement into any direction is blocked because the units stand in each other's way. The farmers did not cost anything - not that we're complaining ;-)

The House Abandon by jon_nocode 2016-08-30T16:42:00

Wow, this is surely the most professional LD game I have played so far! Amazing in all respect - graphics, sound, atmosphere! Awesome first twist!

There was one major annoyance: When typing a command while some output was still running, sometimes, what I typed was deleted again. That's frustrating, never do that, how realistic it should be.

Also, I got stuck in two places: (SPOILERS) After opening the box, it took me forever to find the correct command to turn the computer on, I had used "use computer" and sorts before. I'm now stuck with the correct lock combination. I tried every 4-digit code I remember seeing in the game, but none does work. Did I miss something? Can you give a hint? Looking forward to completing the game!

The House Abandon by jon_nocode 2016-08-30T17:42:00

So, after getting un-stuck via Twitter and completing the game, let me note down some more thoughts.

I tried to leave the lock combination dialog with "put down lock", "exit", "quit", "go down", "leave", and more. The command which does it ("go to hallway") was unexpected, because in that situation, the player *is* already in the hallway. The last phase took some guessing, but it was possible to figure that stuff out :) Expected some big-ass scarejump at the end ;)

I actually played quite a lot text adventures many years back, and two shortcuts which always worked in old games was "look <thing>" or "<direction>" (like "up"). Maybe you'd like to add those to future games. I would also expect "leave kitchen/living room" to work. That's mostly it, everything else worked as expected!

This game was one of the most amazing experiences I ever had in a game jam, thanks for that! It was kind of sad to have the nice pacing and suspense being broken by command guessing/being stuck in stupid places ;-)

Will definitely keep an eye out for your upcoming games, you're very welcome to ping me if you have something to try out!

Pen and paper by RasmusErik 2016-08-30T14:47:00

What a nice idea! :) The intro video is well-done. The game itself is not very interesting to us, because we did use this ancient technology in our childhoods a lot :P Not much to criticize otherwise, good job! :D

No Mario's Sky by eigenbom 2016-09-01T21:53:00

Hilarious! I'd also like to mention that the controls feel annoying. I especially enjoyed the soundtrack! Most things have been said. I'm not really a fan of trademark infringement :/ And I found a Trump planet o_O Well done!

Spectacular Stride Machine by Garfeild 2016-08-30T19:29:00

This feels like a very complete game! I absolutely adore the art style, good job on that! At first, I didn't realize the balconies were obstacles, and wondered why I constantly crashed. Would have liked more story! And the game mechanics themselves didn't feel that interesting to me. Maybe some more gameplay elements would have been nice. I love how the music changes pitch after a crash, haha!

Made it 356 meters on the third try :) Sorry, pedestrians! :(

Chronos Gear by theholychicken 2016-08-30T12:22:00

Wow, such a nice, minimalistic, beautiful game! I really like the camera controls! I didn't understand the goal of the game without reading the instructions - I guess I didn't notice the two different directions! Quite hard, actually, to quickly figure out where you want a gear to dock. I also didn't find right click. If you add some sound effects and maybe add an in-game explanation, I think this game could be an absolute hit! Thumbs up!

Wilderness Survival by ZQMony 2016-08-30T11:26:00

It was easy to get into this game! The graphics are really well-done, and the music and the sounds are fitting, good job! Nice, simple mechanics! I found it hard to survive for long even in the simple level. The spear is very frustrating to use, because its range is so short.

The about screen mentions the theme was "Ancient weapon" - nope, it wasn't ;-)

Random Access Aliens by edve98 2016-08-29T20:24:00

I'm familiar with Nethack and other Rougelikes, so I enjoyed the old-school style! Nice interpretation of the theme, well done! We had a laugh about "TODO: Write tutorial" and that large A's became small a's when damaged ;-) Without looking at the website, the goal was unclear. We would have liked sound effects and more gameplay elements. Good job writing your own game engine!

Allo? by Darenn 2016-08-30T11:35:00

Got a score of 17 on the first try :) Nice little game, it's well-rounded! Love the talking sounds :D Good short in-game explanation, too!

I can't really find anything to criticize, expect maybe that I would have liked more gameplay elements!

Navis by Roland M 2016-09-01T22:22:00

Huh, can you supply a binary without an installer? Don't wanna trash my computer :)

Ancient Blacksmith by Efmi_ 2016-08-29T21:32:00

The instruction was detailed, however, without reading it, we immediately clicked "skip" when the game started and lost, which was fun :D After figuring out that the buttons do something, we clicked together two stones :) Surely would be nice to have sound effects! Nice take on the theme, good job!

Blacksmith Simulator by PlanetHoward 2016-08-29T21:23:00

Nice idea and concept. Also fitting the theme nicely. The feature we liked the most was throwing stuff at our customers and hearing the Wilhelm scream :) The music as well as the game were kind of hectic, which we enjoyed! We even managed to create a sword without reading the instructions! Good job!

Petroglyph by Jonpul 2016-08-29T20:10:00

Nice concept and story! After we had grasped the mechanics of beaming, it was rather simple to play. We had a funny moment: When beaming up the last person, we cheered that we beat the game, but then the next iteration started and the whole civilization came back :-P The story screens were a bit wall-of-text like, maybe some graphics would help there. We didn't really like the repetitive soundtrack.

ARTYS by WASD 2016-08-30T14:42:00

It's a unique idea with a good amount of polish! We expected our answers to show up later in the game, but the twist was pleasantly surprising. If someone got "writing 2-word Ludum Dare comments" as the worst behavior, please get in touch ;-)

We would have like the possibility to skip the dialog animations. Pacing was a bit slow. We were sad that only 7% of the players found peace most important :'-( For color blind players, one of the challenge was rather hard ;)

Pharaoh's Treasure by owndbyu 2016-08-30T11:56:00

I wasn't sure how to kill more than two thieves. Without the description, I would not have found the different elements except for the blocks. Fitting music and theme! :) The trap mechanics look interesting, but maybe would need an explanation/demonstration of how they work.

Ancient Mystery by ccegeadamcc 2016-08-30T11:16:00

Yeah, I beat this game! :) I didn't think I would play it completely when I entered the giant hall with the steps on the walls, which was kind of hard. The jumping physics felt a little sluggy and frustrating. Movement felt slow, even when I discovered the sprint button. Nice graphics!

Cool atmosphere in the labyrinth, I liked the background sounds. Nice scary "changing textures"! I won't spoil the end, but it was a little cliche ;-)

Bug: You get severe graphical glitches when you enter the lake at the beginning.

Ancient Mystery by ccegeadamcc 2016-08-30T11:16:00

Oh, and another bug: The mouse cursor stays invisible when you get back to the menu when the game is finished.

Ancient Mystery by ccegeadamcc 2016-08-30T11:38:00

Oh, and one more thing: I just saw your own comments for other games, and would like to encourage you to give more detailed feedback! Two or three words are not very helpful :) Thanks!

Log Driver by leuus 2016-08-30T12:01:00

I absolutely adore the art and the concept! :) First five puzzles were not that hard, I would have liked to see more gameplay elements! But I'd imagine that if you keep working on this, the mechanics could lead to some really interesting puzzles! Movement felt a little slow. Water splashing got annoying after a while. Choice of Q/A and left/right for movement felt unusual, I would have preferred the common WASD or arrow keys. Thanks for making this game! :)

Search Treasure By Amine Tcherak by Amine Tcherak 2016-08-30T12:28:00

Hey, I didn't play your game, I just wanted to say that spamming comments to get more reviews is not a cool thing to do. Will gladly check out your game later. Thanks for understanding!

LightBringer by Rakart 2016-08-30T17:04:00

Hey, nice little game :) The art style is nice and effective, I kind of missed sound. Jumping mechanics were nice - unlike in most other LD platformers... I kind of lost interest in the level with the waterfall. Too much jumping over platforms, I guess the pace was a little too slow for me, maybe a faster progression of gameplay elements would keep players more excited!

The Polaroid by dissonent 2016-09-01T22:00:00

Cute, well done! Interesting interpretation of the theme! I found it too easy that the objects appeared in ghost form when placed wrong. Mouse movement was way too fast, walking speed too slow. The game didn't keep me interested for very long.

Paws of Purrsia: Kitty Litter by 8Keys Studios 2016-08-30T13:54:00

First of all, hats of for the brilliant title! :3 That being said, we had the same problem as the previous commentator - Mr Cat King always fell of without us being able to catch him. We weren't sure how the four players should coordinate, and why. With a lot of luck, we could jump over the black figures and reach the stairs, but without our beloved king! :'-( Cool Meowsic. Frustrating to always need to go through the menu and the initial dialogue to try again.

Backwoods Culinary Basics by skreeb 2016-08-30T14:29:00

Interesting experience! We liked how everything floats in the air when you hold it! Was fun discovering what was possible in this small world. Maybe it would be a good idea to have some kind of goal, rather than this freestyle mode. The physics were well done.

1984 by dvdking 2016-08-30T13:13:00

Cool graphics style! We found controlling the ship very hard because we didn't discover Q/E, but we managed to destroy *everything*! :> Music was crazy and catatonic, but we liked it quite much! We would have liked to see more content! The intro screen didn't look as nice as the main game, and we found it hard to see where the compass was pointing! In total, a fun and well-rounded game! :)

Hand Cranky by tedajax 2016-08-30T13:46:00

We liked the pumping mechanic and the floating title screen. How to jump properly took a while getting used to. This game is quite hard! Nice physics, and matching sounds! We didn't get that far, but we would have liked to see more gameplay elements.

Thanks for leaving so detailed feedback for "20000 Pixels Into The Sea"! <3

Gear Kitty by Raiyumi 2016-09-01T21:38:00

Cute <3 I started playing pretty quickly because sidewards movement and gear rotations speed was a little slow and frustrating for me. The art is the best I've seen so far in a LD entry, and the helper box at the top is incredibly cute! Gonna steal that concept, if you don't mind! :)

BOBBLE by MRLIGHT234 2016-08-30T15:00:00

A game like a drug trip! The jumping mechanics felt quite okay, the physics was a bit glitchy at times. The levels got hard quite quickly. We liked that it contains so many gameplay elements! Music repetitive, sounds are nice otherwise. Well-done pixel art!

Words and Wide Spaces by Move127 2016-08-29T22:12:00

When staring the game, I first clicked "Go" (as it was the first button), which was obviously not a good idea. Spaaaace! Getting bored of space! ;-)

Well, on the second try, I landed, but did not understand anything. I thought the square symbols were 0 digits. After looking at the description, the first planet was easy. On the second one (with the 4 sockets), the left and right tile got stuck, and no combination of the remaining two worked. Am I doing something wrong? Would like to learn more about the alien culture!

The learning curve of this game seems very high, could use some more explanations or a slower puzzle progression. Was frustrating that the coordinates were displayed *after* the number scale was gone, so I had to do the whole planet again. Nice, fitting music! :)

The Huckster by MrBrenan 2016-08-29T23:35:00

This is most impressive! Art, music, narrative, and the game mechanics all come together to form a very polished game!

I was a little sad when I entered some doors and the narration was interrupted :'( Also, it was sometimes unclear which doors were connected to certain cables, and which cables simply extended through the wall. Again, I really, really liked The Huckster. Thanks for making it! <3

Loco Motion by Waterman7 2016-08-29T21:04:00

We did it in 2:25 on the second try, with one round wheel and one wheel with a spike!

Really awesome concept! Was a lot of fun watching your creation roll around! Interesting level layout. Maybe some sound would have been nice. Simple, but effective graphic style! One of our favorite submissions so far! <3

We found your game because you're close to us on the LD map ;-)

Loco Motion by Waterman7 2016-08-29T21:08:00

Update: We did it in 7 seconds, using very, very large wheels. Our vehicle flew through the air towards "fin" ;) But we surely consider this cheating :)

The Operator by Gipzo 2016-09-01T21:06:00

This is an amazing Jam entry! It's very polished, well-rounded, and overall feels pretty nice to play, good job! I only survived 3 days before I was fired (well I *may* have tried to disrupt calls and such ^_^), so my feedback is based on that. I didn't get in the situation that I had to pull out plugs, so gameplay seemed a little too easy. It was unclear to me what the display at the top meant. More variety in the "voices" would have been nice.

The theme reminded me a lot of "Papers, Please" - if you keep working on this, I think some story elements would fit the game very well! Thanks for making this game! <3

Abacus Fighter by deadpixelsociety 2016-08-30T15:45:00

Unique idea for a fighting game! It involves a lot of looking back and forth - maybe the spatial layout could be improved in that regard. It was easy getting into, but on the second round, no one of us was able to win :-P Good Audio! Simple, but effective graphics! Good job, thanks for making this game!

cognizance by managore 2016-08-29T23:59:00

Wow, what a nice game. Beautiful focus on the core theme. The cog mechanics are innovative, and I absolutely adore the level design! So far, I made it to about almost 4 cog friends, and enjoyed the dual-purpose stairs and the two-pillars-on-a-treadmill puzzles the most! I disliked the floating-platform-in-static part. Mayyybe I would have liked some kind of map, so I could tell where all the remaining cog pieces are.

Super Egyptian UFO Cat Pyramid Overlord 2000 BC by rjhelms 2016-08-30T12:11:00

So cuuute *_* I like the concept of spreading love and harmony! Thanks for making this game! Very polished graphics and music, and awesome retro feeling! I would have liked to move up and down! The pyramid building sequences were so well-done!

Babel by johnbjuice 2016-08-30T12:45:00

Kind of a unique concept, mixing a typing trainer with a platformer! :) We encountered some levels which could not be climbed at all - are they randomly generated? The difficulty didn't seem to go up very quickly, which is why we just quit after reaching 780 meters. Cute intro screen, everything feels well-rounded, good job!

Thanks for giving so detailed feedback on "20000 Pixels Into The Sea"! <3

Abandoned Planet by Remicy 2016-08-30T15:31:00

This was a fascinating, calming experience! It kept us playing until the end! The singular puzzles had interesting connections, and it was satisfying to solve them - especially the SOLE ;-) Nice that the game didn't had (and need) many explanations!

The last puzzle for us was the elephant-terminal, and we only found the passcode in the game's description. Maybe it would have been nicer to hide it in-game.

One of our favorite LD games so far!

laser, windmill, delivery! by pixzleone 2016-08-29T20:16:00

We really, really liked the intro screen ("Press space to die!" :D). Simple concept, slippery jumping mechanics, it would be better with less horizontal acceleration. The theme seemed kind of forced in. Music and sound effects were fitting! The lasers were easy to avoid. We would have enjoyed more gameplay elements.

Old Man's Sky by Geared Games 2016-08-30T14:23:00

Smooth and fluid controls, well done! Getting in and out of the spacecraft was fun! We were disappointed that some of the small planets had no thingies on them. Nice take on the original. Fun flavor text on the plants (the bushes especially). Would have been nice to have some hills on the planets, but them being bland was probably kind of the point :P

TrainStack by TheMonsterFromTheDeep 2016-08-30T13:40:00

Really well-done graphics! At first, we enjoyed the in-game explanations very much, which made the "help" button in the menu kind of unnecessary. But when the wagon were introduced so quickly, we lost track of how they worked. We could not get past the level with the damaged tracks, the mine, and the upward slope. We didn't understand how the mines worked. Are they timing-based?

Avastory by Devark 2016-09-01T21:22:00

Wow, amazing submission! Pretty graphics style and dreamy music, well done! I had a good laugh about the library door :)

On my first pass I was all like "I don't want to hurt these lovely, peaceful creatures"! Why should I? Do they actually take damage if you... oh." I agree the boss fight was hard. Didn't make it in the first try. After that, I actually ran the whole way again without killing anything to see if the boss would be nice to me. Well... no ^_^ I wished you would have had more time to add content! Controls and mechanics feel pretty standard, a little more creativity wouldn't hurt there, I guess.

Possible bug: The pieces which remain when killing a creature flicker strangely.

Lorem Ipsum or Engineering for a Civilized Age by amras0000 2016-08-29T21:46:00

We really enjoyed this, cool interpretation of the theme! We liked how the music syncs up to the movement, and learning the rules by trying everything out! Also, we discovered the "F" key just after connecting to the first city. At first, the game seemed hard, but with a little practice it got a lot easier! Possible bug: Although we connected to a "highlighted" basin in the center of the city, the ending screen showed "0 cities connected" - were we supposed to do something else? Nicely-done intro screen/logo, as well! :)

Thanks for playing "20000 Pixels Into The Sea" and giving such detailed feedback! <3

Obsolete by adsilcott 2016-08-30T19:42:00

This game is absolutely hilarious! Battle art and writing made me smile a lot! Made me feel genuinely sorry for that poor lil GameBox! :C I didn't especially enjoy the 3D world, but if you keep polishing, this could be a hit! :) Thanks for making it!

Dolus by kndx123 2016-08-29T22:52:00

Hahaha, hilarious! Short and sweet! Nicely executed! It's like a prank, but as a game :P Thanks for making this! <3 Music loop could have been longer.

ShroomMan by monstersauce 2016-08-30T14:52:00

Well-rounded game, nice design, cute character, everything fits together nicely. We thought the energy bar disappearing was a bug. Not that much to discover in-game :)

The great catapult war by JK5000 2016-08-29T20:33:00

Good job on the 3D models! :) We also enjoyed the "crash" sound! ;-) The game's pacing seemed a little slow, we would have liked to be able to skip the turn animations, for example. Surely would be suited as a board game, we got into a little strategic discussion. If you keep working on the game, maybe add some weapon upgrades? And music!

The House on the Right by WERT Studio 2016-08-29T20:51:00

Our theory: Sarah came to visit Diana to complain about the loss in value of her 1/4 share of the company because of the financial crisis. They argued and spread the papers all around the living room. At the same time, Henry discovered the heart on the fridge and realized that Diana was cheating on him with the glasses dude. He got all mad, and because of his medication, he shot her through the wall. He turned to flee, saw Sarah, and had to kill her as well because she was a witness.

Can you tell us the solution? :) (I'm @blinry on Twitter)

We would have enjoyed a little more interaction (opening cupboards and stuff), or an in-game resolution, but we really enjoyed it as-is. Cool art style and fitting music!

We didn't find a connection to the theme.

Sword man by bog13 2016-08-29T22:32:00

Hehe, nice entry. Keep in mind that not everyone has an AZERTY keyboard, this made it really hard to play. Maybe support arrow keys, optionally.

I enjoyed how the character moves, and like the idea of the defense/reflective mechanism! In my play, it was usually enough just to block enemy shots to survive.

Neat music and sound effects! Good job!

20000 Pixels Into The Sea by blinry 2016-08-29T22:21:00

@MrBrenan: Thanks for playing! The wind starts changing directions after you rescued the first 5 people! :) You might want to check it out, there are some more secrets ;)

20000 Pixels Into The Sea by blinry 2016-09-01T20:50:00

Thanks for playing and for your encouraging feedback, everyone, we really appreciate it! We're glad that you had fun with the sailing mechanics! The physics simulation obviously simplifies a lot (we don't do hydromechanics, for example), but regarding to the sail positions, it is actually pretty realistic! @deadpixelsociety, you asked about that! :)

@amras0000 @johnbjuice Thanks for bringing up the getting-stuck issue, some reset mechanism would surely be useful.

@PetterBergmar Yeah, we know it's not very fun with a touch pad :-/ Sorry, but thanks for playing!

@FrozenCow @tedajax That the player is forced to sail against the wind in the first phase is actually intended. We also would have liked to display a transparent "optimal sail position" to help the player in the beginning, but the time didn't allow for that, unfortunately.

@Garfeild Hehe, the game was actually reading your mind :P

@owndbyu The water splashing actually gets louder the faster you are. Probably not that noticeable... :)

And finally, thanks for feeding The Kraken, @Mantlair, @FrozenCow, and @amras0000 ;)

Through The Fire by Chryse 2016-08-30T11:30:00

Wow, nice intro screen! Also, the in-game graphics are really well-done! Without looking at the description, I didn't find out that I could click on other people to destroy them. The goal was unclear - is there a time limit or something? I enjoyed the physics! Thanks for making this little game! :)

Sashimi by Pixelbear 2016-08-30T13:29:00

We didn't get past the second fishing phase, because the rightmost fish never turned up, and fishing to the far right seemed impossibly hard. Did we do something wrong? The graphics are impressive, and we liked the narrative, even though subtitles would have been nice because of the static noise. Lovely title screen as well, and fun writing.

Bobby Bow by AWOL 2016-08-29T22:58:00

Hey, I didn't play your game, I just wanted to let you know that in order to get meaningful feedback, I think you should give some yourself. Those fifteen 2-word comments could make the impression that you didn't really play those games, don't you think? Thanks for understanding. Will gladly check out your game later!

The Fixer by lordvorath 2016-08-29T20:03:00

This game has quite a nice atmosphere, kind of a meditative experience, and very fitting music! We also enjoyed the story lines! Good job! The gameplay got a bit repetitive after a while, which is why we didn't try to find all 6 machine parts. The main challenge seemed to be keeping track of where you had already been ;-)

Ancient Meat Lovers by FrozenCow 2016-08-29T23:10:00

FrozenCow! <3 My story with this game:

*slowly walks away from the fireplace* *is really relieved to see the arrow to find your way back* *sees an elephant* *punches it* *elephant is angry, follows be back to camp* *tries to roast it over the fire* *does not work, die, be replaced* *punch giraffes* *sees another elephant* *runs away in horror* *gets new technologies* *slays every elephant in sight for revenge*

Thanks for making this game, it's short and sweet :) It surely would benefit from sound! I kind of expected to get more and more modern weapons, until I accidentally destroy the planet with a nuclear rocket launcher :D

Theoton by ninja00283 2016-08-29T22:48:00

Wow! A round-based puzzle platformer! I've never seen this concept before! I'm not really sure how it relates to the theme, but I dig this game! Maybe I'd like an undo function. Fitting sound effects, great job! I also really liked the level progression, teaching you the mechanics at exactly the right pace. One of my favorite games so far! Thanks for making it! :)

I had a laugh about "High score: NaN" ;-)

RIP.tech by v3nevergod 2016-08-29T22:27:00

Nicely-done story introduction and cute character art! :) I love the lighting, it makes it really scary to jump down the steps. I went down all the way and killed the glowing skeleton - is there anything more to the game which I didn't find? Nice entry, good job!

Retro YouTube Simulator by pogo 2016-09-01T22:11:00

I loved the little room, and I loved the sounds the computer makes. But my tapes never arrived. Is that a bug? Also, the game didn't close properly, but crashed when I pressed Alt+F4. Windows 10.

Minor nitpick regarding the command line: It's unusual that you see the prompt after pressing enter. It should first output the result, then show the prompt again.

Thanks for making it, awesome idea, even if it didn't work for me! :)

LD37 — One room

To see a world in one room by Ango 2016-12-14T17:14:00

We found the graphics style so adorable in your blog post that we had to play this! Cool little experience! I believed the little guy when I met him and figured this was the end of the game. Or is there more to it?

I do have a few complaints about the controls. The point of view shifts when moving the mouse? Might be intentional, but is definitely uncommon and disturbing. Also, the direction of view shifts when clicking?! On the planet, view controls are all messed up.

I missed sound/music. In a Jam entry, you don't have any excute! :P

Brian by Noxim 2016-12-13T15:46:00

So this came up when I searched for "stanley" :) I enjoyed it, and nice writing! The duration was maybe a tiny bit too long for this purpose, and I would have liked to make more choices. But you made me feel sorry for Brian at the "meta ending" :O Good job!

Poopy R**mba by Moritz 2016-12-13T02:25:00

Fun idea! I also suspect this is based on personal experiences ;-) The graphics and models are amazing! :O The game concept was maybe a little bit too simple for me, I would have enjoyed more objects with further game mechanics. At the beginning, it was not always clear to me which floor tiles were accessible (like, below the table?), and I was confused when "level 6" changed after a failure ;-)

I definitely would have liked an undo or a restart button, because when you know you did a mistake, you have to poop around until your battery dies.

Principle of Locality by relick 2016-12-13T01:54:00

Wow, very original idea! I played it all the way through, except for level 6, I couldn't figure it out.

Level 4 felt a bit messy (I just "threw" the cylinder on the red button using the purple thingy, is there another way?). The purpose of the light purple objects didn't became clear to me until the very last level (which I enjoyed most).

The clean graphics support focus on the levels. Nice music! I enjoyed this, thanks for making it!

One Step Back by Holofire 2016-12-13T16:03:00

This came up when I searched for "stanley" – I knew someone would do this! :D It's unfortunate you didn't have time to finish it! If you indeed should finish it next year, you're welcome to notify me, I'd like to play the complete thing! :) I'm @blinry on Twitter, as well.

So, feedback! AMAZING graphics! :O Did you create all assets yourselves? How you display the room is amazing! On my first try, I went the stubborn route, (SPOILERS) only to be trapped :D On my second attempt, I played until the room with the five colored buttons, it seemed unsolvable because some buttons didn't come back up.

I absolutely love your attention to detail! Like, the clock displaying the real time, or the main character looking at the door after pushing the "useless" button :D To me, it didn't feel like entering the room in a time loop, like you write in the description, but like entering multiple different rooms!

I think the game would highly benefit from a real narrator, do that if you have the chance! Reading the text in the corner is a bit distracting. Also, of course I would like more branching points, where choices of the player make a real difference!

So, thanks for your work so far! I wish you a lot of motivation for completing the game! :)

Dont Touch The Floor by cinnamonmelonpig 2016-12-13T16:12:00

Wow, nicely executed! A wonderfully polished entry, good job!

Cute backstory and nice idea! Extremely pretty graphics! I would probably have liked a more interesting music, but it's better than none! ;-) I wasn't always sure where I could jump due to the perspective.

Believe it or not, on my Thinkpad, I got a hardware issue with this game: Apparently, I can't press up, left and space at the same time :O Huh.

(SPOILER) I'm proud to tell you that I got the idea of walking over the wall much earlier than in the "outside the box" level! Feels rewarding! :)

Stuffed Office by MFEP 2016-12-14T16:51:00

I wanted to play this because your game mechanics are similar to ours :) Very very nice models, well done!

The levels were a breeze until room 5, that's where I was kind of stumped for a while, because I placed the first large "L" wrong ;-) I think levels 5, 6 and 10 were the hardest, and also the most enjoyable for me :) All in all, took me about 10 minutes to complete.

When rotating the room, the mouse sensitivity was way too high for me. I would have liked a graphical hint on which furniture type is currently selected. And most of all, sound and music! In a Jam entry, you don't have any excuse :)

Good job, and thanks for making this game!

The Scientist by RyanMan56 2016-12-14T16:04:00

Like your last entry, a short sweet little weird experience. I was sad I didn't tumble down the stairs when I jumped on it :P The thing I missed most was sound.

Too bad you didn't manage to get the entry done in time. Don't drink and jam! :D At least it was good alcohol :P

Snapped by karlipoppins 2016-12-14T15:53:00

Wow, nice idea and a brilliant execution! I enjoyed the many comments about the objects. I read your "hint spoiler" while looking over the description, so I kind of knew what to do. Well-timed ending and awesome music! I relly like this short experience!

Snapped by karlipoppins 2016-12-14T16:06:00

Oh, and another thing: On Linux, after the ending music, the screen just stays black. Could be an intended effect (like in "Dear Esther"), could be a bug. Definitely kept me wondering whether this was the end or not.

One Room Hotel by TerraCottaFrog 2016-12-14T17:04:00

Fantastic compo entry! I love the attention to detail in the pixel art, like the flickering light in the cinema room! Nice "game over" music! I think I made it to day 5 on my first try. The game got challenging at that point, but felt fair.

Fun "hotel building" mechanics! You see, I can't find much to criticize... It even has humorous text inbetween :O For me, this is an all-5-star entry!

Sounds get a bit repetitive after while. "Thanks!" for making this game, TerraCottaFrog!

Claustrophobia by Obvious_San 2016-12-13T15:24:00

Good work, everyone! This feels like a well-rounded game in terms of graphics, gameplay and sound effects!

Not having a lot of experience with this type of game, I could only made it to wave three in all my three attempts. It's probably easier with a mouse :) Good job making the green monsters easy to hate! >:-{ In terms of strategy, I found myself mainly running around in circles, trying to kite the enemies. Once the level got smaller, real panic set in :-P The creepy background music supported this!

Sometimes, the wave ended abruptly and I ran into items which I didn't want to buy. And I think there is a small bug: The "reached level X" counter is not reset on game over.

Again, good job on all fronts! Thanks for making this!

One Room Personality Test by columhiggins 2016-12-14T17:27:00

I like the personal, interview-like style of this piece! :) Didn't really enjoy the interpretations, though, because from my point of view, this stuff is rather arbitrary. But it must have been a lot of work to record all the 16 different permutations, so points for effort!

Mouse Telekinesis by FrozenCow 2016-12-13T02:13:00

Hey, old Ludum Dare buddy! I enjoyed your entry! Very cute pixel graphics, and I love the mouse sounds. Also, I always enjoy collision sounds! :)

I did really care for mouse. I liked how mouse rotated in the air! At first, I was afraid mouse would take fall damage. I was devastated when I first crushed mouse! I was glad when I fed mouse all the way through! Finally, mouse was crushed by "Thanks" :-O

To be honest, I mostly scrambled the furniture around until it was all in one corner and I was on the other side, then ran to the hole. While I liked the camera control, I think I would have preferred to have it show the whole picture all the time, to make puzzle-thinking easier.

There might be a bug in the level where two cupboards are on both sides of the hole: The level starts rotated, leading to instant mouse death.

LD38 — A Small World

A Bloody Small World by blinry 2017-05-03T11:23:22Z

Thank you all so much for your kind feedback, it's very valuable for us!

@icxon: Thanks for posting your video playthrough – we are glad you even found the "easter egg"! ;-)

@AmnonLevi: No time to enemy-fy the viruses, exactly! ^_^'

@novodantis: These are very good suggestions, thanks! We'll keep them in mind for a post-LD release!

My Very Own World by Flipsy 2017-05-01T13:36:35Z

We really liked this little, positive game! Thank you for making our day a little happier. The asteroid war wasn't that great but we were glad that at least one flower survived.

Good job on drawing the cute graphics, the audio department could use some improvement.

The dance was awesome. We're trying to learn it myself now. And we loved placing the stars in the beginning!

A Cage of Love by Quetzakol 2017-05-03T17:30:53Z

Hmm, can't progress to the phone booth, I'm always eaten by shadowy creatures and can't defend myself. Is there more to the game?

Love the heart-shooting! <3 <3 <3

A Cage of Love by Quetzakol 2017-05-03T18:08:02Z

Thanks for the fast reply! I now played through it. The problem was that there was text displayed when the black things arrived, so I had to speed-tap it away before I could shoot.

Movement was painfully low, so I found the "I ran back home" quite ironic! :P The story is mildly interesting, and the graphics are beautifully drawn! Nice that you offered a choice at the end! Wasn't too easy for me, I could relate to the situation! Thanks for making this game!

Contamination by schizoid2k 2017-05-03T10:03:42Z

337 points on the third try. Love the sneezing! Rarely used other shooting directions than "down". Super cells seemed too powerful. The transition from "easy" to "really hard, I have to super-cell all the time" happened rather fast. Tight controls, and overall a pretty nice game! :)

This is really amazing work for a compo entry, well done!

Mediator by randomhuman 2017-05-03T17:42:46Z

Heh, nice ship you got there! ;)

Too bad it's only this one scene, but it was extremely well executed! Atmospheric, matching music, as well! You could make this into a running gag and add one more scene each LD! :P

Mr Antibody by DivineOmega 2017-05-01T13:44:08Z

Cute! The gameplay contains the interesting contrast that you want to shoot the bacteria, but you also move in the direction you're looking, and you definitely *do not* want to touch the bacteria! :D

Good job on building the different levels, they feel rather different! We missed music and an ending screen! :)

Bug report: You can select the same organ twice, even though it has already been cleared.

Hugely Unpopular President Simulator by CliffracerX 2017-05-03T17:53:27Z

Bwahaha! The description on this site is a large part of the fun! :D Loved the signs, especially the meta-signs!

I also love how the protesters follow you in the sky. The comparison to Goat Simulator is a good one, I think.

Theme: ???

Hugely Unpopular President Simulator by CliffracerX 2017-05-03T18:39:29Z

@CliffracerX: Oh, I see, thanks for pointing that out! Good job working on this, I will show it around! :)

Hop Up by PietPtr 2017-05-03T17:32:42Z

Heads up: The Linux version is linked dynamically against `libsfml-graphics.so.2.3`, which is not present on my system, and my package manager only has version 2.4! :)

Mouse and Blade by superpokeunicorn 2017-05-03T17:22:33Z

This was fun! Kept me motivated 'till the end! Interesting enemies, cute, very well-done graphics. I wish I could've jumped higher. Found out that tip-toeing was a good strategy to avoid enemy clashes. Mannn, I hate these enemies. All of them. In a good way! :D

The music got somewhat repetitive after a few minutes, but hey, it's a compo entry, heh? :)

Also, controls were really uncomfortable on a QWERTZ keyboard – consider mapping Y to the Z function as well, next time! :)

TinyWorldTD by Toby Pinder 2017-05-03T09:21:18Z

Oh~, a planet-system tower defense is a nice idea for this theme! :) I also like the minimalistic, clean graphics, and this seems to be quite elaborate, in terms of features!

Gameplay-wise, this wasn't really easy to get into. I didn't really have an idea of which turrets I needed, and only one of them seemed to spray little bullets at enemies. Repairing felt ineffective, and I was quickly overwhelmed by enemies, feeling rather helpless. ^_^ I also didn't like that I had to shift the mouse back and forth between the segments and the buttons in the top right. How do you generate resources, just over time?

With more explanations, somewhat better balancing, and sound, I could see this being quite fun! :) Thanks for submitting!

"You lasted 70069 seconds!" <- Is this a bug, or is this in game-time? :-)

Microspace by novodantis 2017-05-01T13:30:59Z

Hi, we discovered this game because we had a similar idea, but your game is very different in terms of gameplay!

We loved the audio lines and the nicely-paced introduction of gameplay elements! We did about 6 attempts to beat the game, but were always killed by white blood cells. At one point, we reached the plaques, though!

The controls feel very nice, and built-in controller support was a huge plus!

Bugs: Sometimes the camera glitched to the outside of the vein, and we managed to get our vehicle to the interior of a white blood cell.

Gillie Goes Global by rustybroomhandle 2017-05-03T10:36:58Z

The Linux version does not work for me – the "start" button doesn't do anything. :(

Gillie Goes Global by rustybroomhandle 2017-05-03T18:36:00Z

@rustybroomhandle: Yeah, that helped, thanks!

I now played through the game, and enjoyed it quite much! Felt very relaxing to walk around and listen to the sweet music! I would liked to press left/right/space to push the buttons, though! A lot of story, maybe a little too much text per box. I cracked myself up at the names, hahaha! :D Good job!

When entering a cave/the tree/etc., it felt wrong that it was *straight*! :P And I also enjoyed the detailed ending screen! :P

Actually, I rather like the font – can you tell me which one you were using?

A small world lost in a big universe by siryakko 2017-05-03T11:13:34Z

This is super-cute! I liked the character interaction, and how the alien jumps around on high speeds! Feels really good. I would have expected the alien to collect things even when it's not active. The "flat" art is very well done, and I love the colors!

Managing the resources felt too easy, but also I only played for a few minutes. I saw that you want to work more on this, you're very welcome to ping me when there's a new version! :)

(And btw, I love the considerate way you reply to your reviewers! <3)

Gnome Digger by bobsleigh 2017-04-28T19:17:51Z

We get this error when starting the not-10-Windows-exe:

Interplanetary Billiards by benjamin-l 2017-05-03T09:51:08Z

Wow, what a stellar entry! I loved everything about it – the sucking sounds the black hole makes, the shader effect, the pen & paper style, the clicky buttons, the hard and engaging gameplay, the simulations, the amount of control you have on the planet (how to control the strength of the force needs to be discovered, but is a nice plus!)

Definitely will show this around and come back to it myself. Thanks for making it! (I'll also have to steal how you do auto-resizing when scaling the window!)

If it didn't serve as an inspiration, you might want to check out Jonathan Blow's "Future Billiard Simulator" shown in this talk:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISutk1mauPM&t=619

Oh, and I think there are some debug outputs left in the linked build (for the modes).

Petri World by raincole 2017-05-03T11:30:33Z

Interesting interpretation of the theme! :) The cell's outlines are rather well-done! I was also surprised that they can overlap, though.

I can see many ways to "gamify" this idea, if you want to keep working on this! :) Adding scores, adding objectives, or enemies! :)

Also, good job on the background music!

Path of the Rabbit by managore 2017-05-01T13:28:47Z

We started this game without looking at the "manual" and had a lot of fun figuring out the rules by ourselves. The interface and the movement of the characters transported the mechanics very well.

The game's different parts fit together very well, and we had an instantaneous "let's do another round" effect! :) Except that the audio is pretty minimalist, it's hard to find anything to criticize!

Beautiful graphics and transitions, the only thing that didn't seem to fit in was the bunny portrait at the top.

Space Migrator by jackyjjc 2017-05-03T10:34:07Z

Wow, nice compo entry! I really liked the graphics! Feels really polished! I also like the slow introduction of mechanics and the story! I also think the camera should zoom out earlier. Add some music, and this would be a really polished game! If you want, please keep me updated should you release a new version of this! :)

Are there only three levels, or do I just lose every time at that point?

Sometime, I had a glitch which collapsed my towers after level goal dialogs. Oh, and the Linux version does not work for me – complains "There is no data folder" (even though it is definitely there ;-)

Space Migrator by jackyjjc 2017-05-03T18:40:22Z

@jackyjjc: Thanks for your detailed reply, I appreciate it! :)

Petit Adventure by Sun-Wukong 2017-05-03T11:08:06Z

Whoa, super-cute graphics, and a rich feature set! Also, matching sounds and music! Good job! I found the fights too hard, and died of the three spiders in front of the tower. (I tiptoed around mostly everyone else before that ^_^). What are XP good for? Walking felt a little slow. Thanks for submitting this game! :)

Space Cowboy's Last Stand by jasperarmstrong 2017-05-03T11:16:07Z

The Linux build doesn't work for me - clicking the buttons in the menu does nothing.

It's a Small World - face-blindness simulator by Andrea 2017-05-01T13:32:45Z

It's nice to be placed in the view point of a faceblind person – I've always wondered how it felt. The cartoon-style graphics are very nicely done! :)

We felt the playing time was too long – we got bored after some minutes during the first day, and didn't feel an incentive to start a second one.

The sound effects got pretty repetitive over time. Even though we liked the idea behind this game very much, and would love to see more in this direction!

Comet Escape by LukeC 2017-05-03T09:31:34Z

Nice entry! :) Hats off for doing everything by yourself, even an atmospheric soundtrack! :) Nice graphics! Controls accelerate to slow and are dampened to little for my taste, but it suits a robot, I guess! ;) Cute little story, but I didn't really feel the theme in this.

I *won* \o/ at the third try. Nice surprise in the middle segment! :) The jump-and-shoot mechanic feels a little Megaman-like.

Bug: On "game over", you can still move around for a few seconds, but the menu also appears. If you click on "new game" at this point, the game will restart again after a short time. Also, I think not all enemies respawn? Or was that just me shooting them dead from a distance? :)

Tiny Colonies by PhyscoKillerMonkey 2017-05-01T13:45:05Z

Very cute graphics! :) You also provided a good help page, which was definitely necessary to figure out what the different objects were.

In terms of gameplay, we didn't find the concept so original or intriguing, but we enjoyed watching the trees grow and the workers run around very much! Thanks for making this game!

Murder Mitosis by _for_science 2017-05-01T13:26:07Z

We needed a little time to understand all the rules and mechanisms involved. The help page helped a lot, but at first we were unsure about the meaning of the stars, and what "aggressive" behaviour meant.

The game has flawless and very cute graphics! \*u* The AI was impressively good and beat us for many of our first rounds. We also really like the hand-drawn instructions and menus!

Very innovative interpretation of the theme, and adorable use of Voronoi diagrams (?).

The controls had a rather high delay on older machines.

Crater Creator by navot 2017-05-01T13:43:11Z

We really enjoyed the path visualizations, good job on that! It turned out, though, that we didn't use the color matching mechanism very much. Instead, we parked in a meteor's path to slow it down, and then pushed it towards the planet. This seemed most efficient to us.

The game has a very interesting playing mechanic, which felt like you could learn more about the movement the longer you played. We'd love to play a full game using this mechanic!

It wasn't clear to us that you could have "too much" of the resources – we just thought of the displayed numbers as minimum values.

Flight of Claude by Lyxil 2017-05-01T13:39:29Z

Our first impression of this game was amazement at the huge download size! ;-)

We really liked the graphics, and the matching music. The chirping sound effects at the beginning got repetitive fast, though.

The game was a little too long and stretched-out in this context, at least for our taste. The "truth" about ourselves became clear to us pretty quickly, and we stopped playing when the (to avoid spoilers) other big bird showed up for the first time. We also felt that our options didn't make a real difference in how the story continued. Not "gamey" enough for our tastes.

Bug report: On the about page: "can be found ......" / "Made with ..... 6.99...

Planet Alpaca by Kirblue 2017-05-01T13:41:13Z

Awww, such cute alpaca animations! We especially liked the happy empty-mouth idle animation. Annnd that it puked a rainbow when dying! The game looks rather polished!

Good job on building a custom title screen, and even an intro! We enjoyed it!

For this simple concept it was surprisingly fun! After playing it for a while, we even started discovering new gameplay elements!

Bug report: Navigating the menu with an analog stick doesn't work very well, you get a 50% chance of landing on the option you want. :P We also felt that pressing "B" to select an option was an unusual, counter-intuitive choice.

Ludum Lander by cwkx 2017-05-01T13:34:26Z

The graphics which are there are very pretty! :) We encourage you to continue to work on this!

Controls felt a fiddly, the lander was turning too fast. It was unclear that the rockets auto-aimed. The music loop got annoying fast. Even though, thanks for working on this, and it's cool that you submitted it anyhow! :)

Symbios by drestuff 2017-05-03T11:06:11Z

This must be the most stylistic LD game I've ever played. Really enjoyed the symbiosis :) of graphics, sound effects, animation, and juicyness of the interface. Great transitions! Great music! Hell, depth-of-field effects? :O Hats off!

Unfortunately, what I didn't really enjoy was the gameplay itself. Dragging them apart felt like a chore, and not like fun. I think the bacteria are maybe a little too small to click and drag? Or moved too fast?

Anyway, thanks for making it, I'll take it as an inspiration and will definitely show it around!

LD39 — Running out of Power

False Game by PoV 2017-08-02T23:00:20Z

5/5 in each category! Best LD39 game I've played so far! (It's true!)

Ten Little Letters by blinry 2017-08-02T02:51:27Z

@edmond00: Thanks for your helpful feedback! :) I agree that the game is hard, but actually I'd prefer that to making it too easy. I'll wait for some more opinions on the level of hardness, and might adjust it a bit based on that.

@winniehell: Well, that one is certainly a deliberate design choice! :P

Ten Little Letters by blinry 2017-08-12T11:37:43Z

As the game is universally perceived as "too hard", based on your feedback, I've changed the parameters a little so the hits stay on the screen longer, and clicks/wrong answers cost less energy. I want all of you to be able to get to the end! :) Thanks to all of you for playing!

Ten Little Letters by blinry 2017-08-12T21:15:21Z

@badly-drawn-rod @pixzleone: Thanks for pointing out the memory leak, I fixed in the new build! :)

@pkenney: Your in-depth feedback is very helpful! And I know the O <-> Q feeling all too well myself! :P

Ten Little Letters by blinry 2017-08-13T20:03:06Z

@klianc09: Whoa, congrats for beating the secret hardcore mode! \o/ To my knowledge, you're the first person ever who managed to do that! I'm very glad you enjoyed it so much – yeah, I was also reminded of logical deduction. In case you've not heard from it yet, check out [Zendo](http://www.koryheath.com/zendo/)!

Avalon by chaoseed 2017-08-12T22:24:21Z

Too bad this is unfinished! The content that's there looks promising, though! :)

this must be the place by lycaon 2017-08-12T13:44:59Z

Neat! These are really impressive graphics! I already gaped when I saw the menu! Nice, fitting music and the level looks fantastic! I wasn't sure what to do, the polyhedrons didn't seem to "do" anything. After I read in the comments that there were supposed to be messages, I studied them in more detail - that you have to look down at them isn't really obvious to me. I enjoyed playing/experiencing this! Maybe I would have liked some kind of goal. Controls felt perfect. Hats off for making this in a Ludum Dare!

LiPokomon by FrozenCow 2017-08-12T10:59:38Z

Hey ol' bud! Too bad this is unfinished. There is no way to "win" it yet, right? I had fun discovering I could just SPAM the monsters with "pokeballs" to capture them. Nice interpretation of the theme! :)

Neuropower by klianc09 2017-08-12T10:57:06Z

This is very interesting to play around with! It feels more like a toy than a game, because I couldn't make out a specific goal except for "surviving", but I guess that's what life as neurons is like! Yeah, I missed sound. The infectious thingies were nice to discover! "Movement" felt a bit slow. The tutorial was really well done, and I think I will steal this idea of putting up check lists! :] The minimalist graphics are cool and fitting!

FRIEND-1 by everythingWasBees 2017-08-12T22:41:13Z

Neat graphics, the spaceship is really cute! :> This is not an easy game, and I wasn't sure whether there was a "goal", or it's all just a struggle against inevitable destruction! The game would probably benefit from better audio. Thanks for making this! :)

Computer Crisis by PixelFormedStudios 2017-08-12T10:51:04Z

I enjoyed the humor in this game! :) The tasks got a bit repetitive, but that's probably what work is, huh? ;) The pong intermission was especially nice! Cute graphics, the screen shake was really well done! And finally, this is one of the best interpretations of the theme that I've seen so far! Thank you for making this, I will show it around!

Inconvenient Drone Convention by PeculiarCarrot 2017-08-13T11:14:02Z

This is intense, and easily the most fun I had while playing any LD39 game so far! It feels really great, the controls are snappy and fair, it's nice to see how the drones increase their movement and number the further down you get. My strategy was to boost straight down, and to steer around everything which would come into my way. I made it after 4-5 attempts or so! :) Cools music and sounds, nice particles, simple but effective graphics, fun intro! I loved everything about this, it's a straight all-5-star entry! Congrats!

Rat Hole City by MrChippy 2017-08-12T12:07:31Z

This is a really nice game, congrats! I love the different music styles, and it definitely feels a little scary to be chased around! I found myself crouching all the time, so maybe the character should just have been smaller? Nice art style and light mechanics, I really enjoyed this!

Grid Connect by Laurence Duffy 2017-08-12T10:46:24Z

Nice interpretation of the theme, and nice, abstract game mechanic! I tried the "small" level size, and found it somewhat too easy. Sound effects would have been nice! :) Also, I think a mechanic where you could connect multiple dots in one stroke would be better than current fine-grained connecting of two dots.

Dream Disc by mindfungus 2017-08-12T11:18:00Z

I *love* the visuals and the sounds in this one! The levels themselves got a bit repetitive after a while, and I felt I could go on forever without much effort. I like how annoying the stopper surfaces are! :3 I could see this as a nice mobile game (even though it's true that there are already quite some games similar to this). Thanks for making this! :)

Dashfister by pkenney 2017-08-13T09:46:27Z

Whee, nice compo entry! I really enjoyed the fighting mechanic, and discovering how the different enemies behave! To put the player into the game with a parachute is so clever! Lots of nice sprites, interesting menu even! :) The sounds got a bit repetitive after a while.

This feels very round and polished, and I also could see an extended version of this being widely popular! Good job!

I Once Had Power by jackyjjc 2017-08-12T11:02:12Z

This is a really nice concept, and I would love to see you expanding on that! It's my favorite interpretation of the theme so far, and one I would never have thought of, good job! Could use more work in the writing part, I was a little disappointed to see all the reaction lines were really similar. The choices you had to make felt meaningful, I did't enjoy the fighting mechanics themselves very much. But overall, it's a great idea, thanks for your entry! :)

Tesla Defence by Sun-Wukong 2017-08-12T11:06:21Z

Wow, these are really nice graphics! ^_^ The gameplay wasn't very interesting, I found that just by transferring power to the lower Tesla coil I could "stay alive" pretty much indefinitely. The music in the menu is really good and fitting, you should have put it in the game, as well! :O Nice interpretation of the theme!

Ministry of Synthesis by impbox 2017-08-12T09:48:34Z

Amazing compo entry! Graphics, sound, and music are all very fitting and really well-done! My biggest complaint is the controls - I didn't enjoy the fiddly jumping mechanics and selecting the right connectors was sometimes frustrating.

The concept is really good, I would say the the difficulty probably ramped up a little too fast. Later levels were mostly "try and error", the pixely display made it somewhat harder to recognize the waveform. I really enjoyed that you can hear the waveform, that was a cute little gimmick! :)

I saw no connection to the theme except for the hour timer, as the story wasn't explained inside the game.

All of Me by Lucien Catonnet 2017-08-12T12:16:00Z

Cute! :) You should definitely add a crosshair, so you know precisely where you're looking at. Mouse speed is way too high for me. Hats off that you did this with your own engine! :) The room definitely feels a little claustrophobic, and I expected scary things to happen. Which was a nice feeling! The song you selected was beautiful, and to recognize the title made me smile! Also, nice interpretation of the theme! Looking forward to your next games!

PowerMan by C0nst4ntin 2017-08-12T21:54:44Z

This is a very solid compo entry, good job! :) The tutorial was really well-done. Make sure to include usable controls for AZERTY keyboard users! :P Awesome that you even produced some music, and recorded sound effects! And the sprites even have some animations! :O I didn't find the level itself very interesting, and I found that ignoring enemies was the best strategy, since there is no reward for killing them. Also, maybe you should make the energy slowly recharge, so that people can't get stuck if they don't have energy for the jet pack, but can find no batteries.

I think you're very talented, and I'm looking forward to see which games you will produce in a few years! :)

EDIT: Wait, you can *stab* enemies? This was never explained in the tutorial, right? :D

We Made A Game While Camping by loadsofmana 2017-08-13T10:35:55Z

Ha, this is a cute idea! My main complaint is that walking feels awfully slow, and after some point when you know you can't make it, it becomes frustrating because you neither want to start all over, nor continue. So I would suggest increasing the walking speed, or add a "sprint" button. The small puzzles feel fair, even though I'm not sure what the whiplash and the axe do. Maybe they're just decorative?

I really like the music! The graphics work, and especially the animations are enjoyable! Thanks for making this! :)

Fuse Cell by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2017-08-12T21:44:36Z

Whoa, this is incredibly well done! My favorite entry so far in this LD! I love the graphics, the cute enemies and the unusual end boss! :) The charging mechanic is original, and it's interesting that you mustn't "overcharge"! Really good sounds and music, as well, it's amazing that this is a one-person entry! *_*

The controls were not clear from the game alone, I had to look up how to use the charging key. Might be worthwhile to explain this in the game itself. Otherwise, this is a near-perfect entry for this, good job! Thanks for working on this!

Candy Wars by Jason200101 2017-08-12T22:20:00Z

Haha, hilarious game! :> I enjoyed the differently-colored text bubbles, the li'l CC, and the s-l-o-w speech. Oh, and the angry donut! :D Graphics were charming, and the music was very fitting! Looking forward to your future games!

Prudence, Prudence. by dracobk201 2017-08-12T11:52:12Z

This entry seems a little unfinished. It's a nice interpretation of the theme, but the game mechanics didn't feel very original. I really enjoyed the art, though, good job on that! :) Keep working on it, and I'll keep an eye out for updates! :) Bonus points for ramen! :P

Robby Goes Rogue by Mars 2017-08-12T22:30:34Z

I like the premise of this game, and the vocal sound effects are fun. I am, however not sure what to do after leaving the room. Shooting random things didn't seem to do anything, and I died very quickly. It's frustrating that in Chrome, in order to focus the game window properly, you have to click in it, which immediately costs very much energy, it seems.

Maybe you can give a hint how to continue, and I'll come back to this! :)

Stargust by eggnog 2017-08-12T22:48:51Z

This is really cute and well-done! :) I liked exploring the game without reading the instructions, and trying to figure out how the different mechanics worked. Nice sounds, and the graphics style is simple, but effective! I always wanted to be a cloud! :P Found this game via Twitter, by the way - she protec, but she also attac! :D

By the way - I totally didn't recognize the key at the beginning ("Press to play"). Is it a down key, maybe?

A Star Tale by R4ndomThunder 2017-08-12T11:58:05Z

This is a genuinely frightening game! Very dark mood, everything contributes to that very well - the music, the sounds, the confusing dialogues. Cucumbers! ;-) The monster looks really scary. Hats off to you for producing all this in a weekend, I'd love to play an extended version of this!

Oh, there's no way to win yet, right? I activated the blue thingy, but nothing seemed to happen, and the monster would still get me.

If, by any chance, you don't know the game "The Swapper", you should definitely check it out, it has a similar setting/mood! Thanks for working on this! <3

Mega Awesome Super Cool Battery Game by Fork0 2017-08-12T22:35:51Z

This is, uh, super mega awesome! :P According to the title! I found it quite hard to master. Drifting off into space was a little frustrating. The music loop could have been longer! I liked the short built-in tutorial text! :)

Save My Phone by TheLucky 2017-08-13T09:54:07Z

I found this game very hard, as the objects are approaching too fast. In one playthrough, I had a run where I got the flashlight powerup, and then 6 or 7 other powerups in a row, I wasn't too sure what all of them were doing. I also didn't understand the setting of the game.

I would suggest slowing the movement speed down (or zooming out), spreading powerups more evenly, and explaining the goal and the mechanics in the game. But please don't be discouraged, I can see how much work went into this entry! :) Small improvements will make it much more enjoyable!

Hungry Harry's Climb by PBG 2017-08-13T10:03:50Z

Haha, this was kind of cute! :) Loved the internal dialog of the main character, and the "DIG!", "MUNCH", ... sound effects! :P Cool that you even put in an intro! Getting close to the top of level 1 (when the arrow appeared) got me really excited. My first level was well-generated, even though there were fewer mushrooms than I would have liked. :P Felt well-balanced and fair. I starved in the beginning of level 2, though. Maybe I'll come back to this. The movement mechanics felt cool, and it was interesting to figure out how to climb!

All in all, this is a really well-executed and polished entry, congrats! :)

Character Building by Badly Drawn Rod 2017-08-12T10:54:25Z

As you said, the Pico-8 is probably not the best format for this, but I enjoyed it very much anyway! Interesting concept that *all* choices are bad in a way. I lost due to low self-esteem. :/ Nice writing! I found the music a bit annoying and turned it down very quickly. Thanks for making this, I could see this becoming a larger game!

There's No Place Like Home by Remzo 2017-08-12T21:35:38Z

I tried three times, and while I got better at surviving, I didn't manage to escape! :(

The graphics are really well-done, and it's fun to explore the scene to find out how it works! Very literal interpretation of the theme, I enjoyed it! Overall, this is a very impressive entry!

EDIT: I managed to escape on my fourth try! It gets a little repetitive, but it's a good challenge! :)

burnout. : a runner game about depression and the others by Tuxic 2017-08-12T13:55:04Z

Interesting interpretation of the theme! Found the jumping bug pretty late, but even with that, I didn't manage to get through the day :( I like the time slider below the platforms, and the messages are well written! Music and sound fits well. The jumping mechanic alone didn't feel very innovative, and the random generation of the platforms felt unfair sometimes. I'd love to see more gameplay elements in this game! Thanks for making it! :*

I enjoyed your descriptions on this page! :)

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

The More You Make by TerraCottaFrog 2017-12-05T15:05:44Z

Nice take on the theme! The pixel graphics work really well, care to tell us which engine you used? Sounds are fitting. The individual games didn't manage to capture my attention for very long, though. Maybe I would have liked less, but more interesting games :)

Waste of time: "Current number: Undef" - is that a bug? I also don't have a virtuaman, the title says undefined, and the landscape is empty.

The More You Make by TerraCottaFrog 2017-12-05T15:13:25Z

@terracottafrog I was using the web version in Chromium 62.0.3202.94, running on an up-to-date Arch Linux.

Eat, Love, Prey by MrTroy 2017-12-17T20:30:21Z

Hey, neat little game! I liked how the big sheep spawn smaller ones - gameplay was simple to understand, and I found it entertaining to chase the sheep around. I also had to laugh about the menu buttons :P Barking didn't seem very useful to me, and being chased around by red rams seemed a little unfair, as I couldn't find a way to escape them. I also would have liked a way to refill the life energy.

I didn't see the theme very reflected in this game.

ARCADE OVERFLOW by Remco 2017-12-17T20:06:54Z

Wow, this is one of my favorite games of this Ludum Dare! Really, really great idea. I enjoyed playing this so much, and will definitely show this around. The combination of making it step-based and timing-critical at the same time works very well. The graphics with flat, single-colored areas were probably the part I liked least. In my first playthrough, I had two "game overs" overall, which felt pretty good.

Thank you for making this great game! \o/

The Dark Castle by Joror 2017-12-17T22:24:39Z

This game has an intense atmosphere! :O I enjoyed the writing and the soundtrack, the different attributes, and the items ;) The first play-through was rather frustrating, because I didn't know what to look out for at all. But mood-wise, this worked really well!

Babies! Babies! Babies! by Local Minimum 2017-12-17T20:39:02Z

Woah, this game has a creepy atmosphere! My intuition was to *collect* all the babies, but I quickly realized that this was not what I was supposed to do :P I appreciate the attention you put into the camera control! Interesting visual style, which I've never seen before. Nice job!

The game seemed rather hard. I noticed that if you waste some time early in the game, it becomes impossible to progress after a certain point because there's a massive WALL OF BABIES BABIES BABIES and you can't really jump from atop babies! :D

Snakey Snake by FrozenCow 2017-12-05T14:39:33Z

Hey frozencow, nice and sweet concept, which really fits the theme! :)

I think it would be much more immersive if the snake's body was properly drawn. I liked the camera transitions, and, as always, I really missed sound effects! The levels themselves didn't feel very hard, maybe some more challenging ones would have been nice.

Oh, and are you aware of the game "Snakebird"?

Tail by conk 2017-12-17T23:15:15Z

Whoa, this is a really great control scheme, which I will probably steal sometime :P The simple graphics look beautiful! The game's balancing seems fair, and I had a great time with it! Will show this around! :>

Tap me, darling by supr 2017-12-17T22:03:34Z

Huh, this game didn't really intrigue me, story-wise. It seemed irrelevant which things I tapped? Graphics were pretty, and I thought it had a great choice of sound effects! :)

RE-SANTA by Thygrrr 2017-12-06T13:26:17Z

Whaaaa? Stitch-based pixel graphics! How awesome is that?! I absolutely love this! The transitions! The sound effects and music! The new-year lines! The smartphone oveerlay!

The gameplay is the only thing which didn't really capture my interest, it gets repetitive quickly, and I didn't really feel the consequences of bad decisions.

The lost strawberry by egordorichev 2017-12-05T20:44:48Z

Good job! Looks very polished and integrated, and I enjoyed the combination of graphics and sounds. While the small color palette is interesting, it makes it hard to recognize game elements, and that unfortunate. Also, I wasn't able to discover how to play the game without looking at the documentation, which is something I try to avoid in my games.

Cute Cats Daily by impbox 2017-12-05T20:32:53Z

I was scared the cats in the boxes would die, so I always opened them very quickly. Might have been a strategic mistake! :P

I love the graphics and the animations, the introduction, and the general game mechanics. My cats would always crowd around my the feeding bowls, so their state is hard to see. Music gets repetitive after a while. The shops were inconvenient to reach.

Slightly annoying traffic by JOrbits 2017-12-06T13:11:08Z

I love the attention to detail in this game, like the destructible street lights, and that there's a massive crash incoming on game over :) Gameplay is simple, but satisfying. Thanks for making this!

Seems weak on the sound side. Music gets a little annoying, in my opinion.

Piggle Puzzle by fractalsunrise 2017-12-17T19:49:29Z

Nice little game! I found it hard to figure out *how* pigs reproduce, that is, where new piggles are placed. I liked the level names! ;-) Audio is fitting, graphics are simple but well-done. Instructions were helpful. I didn't really see the theme very reflected in this game.

I would probably have liked a graphical representation of the remaining resources, and an auto-advance to the next level (or a more visible form of feedback when you completed a level).

Wormhead by elemel 2017-12-06T16:22:36Z

Fun little game! I enjoyed finding out what the different pieces do! And the theme is implemented well - being a long space worm isn't easy! A longer music loop, sound effects, and maybe some kind of "compass" would have been nice. But for a compo entry, this is nice, I enjoyed it! =)

Plastic by jeroenwimmers 2017-12-17T19:44:24Z

This is brilliantly executed, and looks very polished! I love the minimalist, abstract graphics, and the attention to detail, like the nodes being larger when they're not connected, or that connected nodes draw others with them. Gameplay is not really challenging, but satisfying. That the game only takes a few minutes to finish is perfect for this context, and I really like the ending! :) Too bad there's no sound. Thanks for making this game!

Birds Birds Birds by Versatile Box 2017-12-05T15:12:16Z

Surprisingly hard, I tried a lot of times, and I didn't manage to balance the car for longer 30 seconds or so. Very pretty graphics style. It's also a hilarious concept, I wonder how the person ended up in that situation...? Maybe some story would have added to the humor! :)

Tic-Tac-Matrix by Antti Haavikko 2017-12-17T22:13:54Z

I really enjoyed the polish on the visuals and the audio in this game! Top notch-writing, and an innovative game mechanic, well done! I don't think I really *enjoyed* doing the calculations in my head, and sometimes just clicked around randomly, but I was certainly entertained by the whole thing, thanks! :)

A Short Story by iamtalin 2017-12-06T16:49:01Z

I really enjoyed the writing in this game. Art and music are beautifully done. The key mechanic gets a little repetitive, but that's a minor critique point. Seeing the main character transforming surprised me! This is the moodiest game I've played this Ludum Dare, thank you for making it!

Hyper diapers by Gaziter 2017-12-06T12:57:18Z

Whoa! For me, this is a 5-star game in almost each category! I loved finding out what everything does. I also really loved the many different baby character images! :3 Graphics are really nice and fitting, and it perfectly covers the theme! Well done, I will show this around!

Uh, babies can die because of the *Internet*? :D

When a baby is in the oven, at first I thought something was wrong with the pan on top of it, and I lost a few times because of that. This needs a better audiovisual clue on what's going on

City Mayhem by Simon Rahnasto 2017-12-06T16:06:07Z

Hah, I love the mood set by the jumping, warped cars and the music! ;) The gameplay feels like a very reduced version of GTA-style games, and invokes some fun memories. And I agree, it gets challenging rather quickly. I *also* love the ending line! :P Honestly, can't think of much to improve - thanks for making this! \o/

Also, thanks for your detailed feedback on "Spring Clean - DO NOT CROSS"! <3

Stacks O' Cats by Lumous 2017-12-17T20:18:40Z

Cute! I liked playing with the cats and the laser pointer! I intentionally let the happiness run to 0%, and noticed that nothing seemed to happen (except for the cats getting red). But maybe it would have too sad otherwise.

Gameplay didn't seem too interesting long-term - setting down all the food bowls in a row and filling it with the endless food seemed like a strategy which would work for a really long time. Maybe I would have liked it when new gameplay elements would have been introduced over time.

CTRL FRK by slovnoslomo 2017-12-06T12:43:02Z

Wow, this is my favorite entry so far! Nice, abstract, minimalist graphics, and an interesting message! I found the later levels unnecessarily slow/frustrating (especially those with the swarms around the project). But especially the first half is perfect, and I will definitely show this game around!

Rattendorf by NoAim91 2017-12-05T14:53:33Z

Lovely art and lovely music, this is really high-quality stuff! <3 I especially liked the moment of the first attack! Controls and interaction feel snappy - the gameplay doesn't seem too original, though.

Some bugs: The three rightmost function buildings have the same description. The popups don't appear when the game is paused. The game crashed during the second wave, but that could just be me using Wine on Linux...

The Carrier by Pixel Shade 2017-12-17T19:59:56Z

Amazing visuals and audio, well done! Interesting interpretation of the theme. I really liked the old-school feeling of this game. And you're right, this game is really hard to master, and seems very hard at first. It is, however, satisfying to notice how quickly you become better at it! At first, I didn't really know what the goal of the game was, maybe the instructions should be more clear here.

Need more coffee by StateOff 2017-12-06T16:56:52Z

This is an interpretation of the theme we discarded during brainstorming, so it's fun to see an actual game made out of this! :) Really good job on the graphics and animations! Good progress gating at the first coffee shop!

I didn't make it to coffee shop #3 in a few attempts. The music loop is annoyingly short. Movement felt very abrupt and not really satisfying.

Pub Crawler by GiraffeCat 2017-12-05T21:06:18Z

177 seconds on the first try, with lots of bumping into walls and cars! :) This game has a nice attention to detail, and fits the theme very well, in my opinion! I liked the increasingly confusing graphical effects and controls! Pathfinding was sometimes a little frustrating, but maybe that's the point. Thanks for making this! :)

Snow Grow: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Ball by Brenden 2017-12-06T16:29:32Z

Hey, congratulations on your first Ludum Dare game! \o/ Good job on getting all the tools working, and on submitting a little game! :) I liked the ending, it surprised me! ;)

Have you ever heard of [Tux Racer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tux_Racer)? You might enjoy it!

It would be cool if you could hold down the direction keys to control the snowball, so you don't have to mash them a lot of times. The score doesn't seem properly aligned. The music loop is very short.

Catdventure by Andreas Ragen Ayal 2017-12-17T23:28:42Z

I love everything about this! :D The weird kitty physics, the mirrored "E" button, the strange pickup mechanics, how the big cat looks at the viewer, how the small kitties try to climb on everything...! Also, the music is really catchy, and I fell in love with the space-mew sound (so much that we cloned the GitHub repo, extracted the meow, and might use it as a notification sound :P) <3 Thanks for making this, we had a really great time with this game, and will definitely show this around!

Bug report: The web version is a little cut-off at the top! :)

Sumo Slam 2D by Joel Rochon 2017-12-05T22:36:33Z

I also made some glitchy-looking jumps, but that was part of the fun! :) Nice ground mechanic, haven't seen anything like that before. Overall, the game seems well-rounded and simple, good job!

I would have enjoyed a short story introduction!

Statues by giucapan 2017-12-17T19:53:50Z

Interesting. Neat storytelling mechanic, the graphics and the light effects are really well-done! Fitting audio, as well, creating a very dense atmosphere. I would like to play more like this! \o/ The story arc seemed obvious to me from the beginning, maybe I would have liked more mystery or story twists. :)

Shapes Are Mean by BlakeMcDeezy 2017-12-05T20:55:03Z

Neat, this is really well executed! :) Thanks for making this! Love the audio-visual integration of the whole thing! Also, the tutorial works perfectly, and is something I will steal ;)

I found the movement of the beams a little fiddly - wish they moved slower or more fluidly. Also, the dark beam seemed kind of thin.

LD42 — Running out of space

Writespace by blinry 2018-08-14T21:10:31Z

@local-minimum: Thanks for your review! All levels can be beat, including "dead end"! But that one requires you to do something you never needed to do until that point. We encourage you to give it another try! :)

I Saw Him Today by MikomiKisomi 2018-08-16T09:51:02Z

Nice drawings and writing, but I wished there was some player interaction. Passively consuming the story didn't really do it for me.

Polygon Bash by josehzz 2018-08-14T17:24:49Z

Pretty graphics, and a very interesting game mechanic! I enjoyed that the simple controls brought so much fun, the conflict between shooting enemies and pushing yourself into the wall conveyed the theme really well! Nice!

TokyoPush!!! by Flammchen 2018-08-15T13:06:47Z

Hey you two! :) Good work on this game! Neat idea, and a really original interpretation of the theme! I was impressed with the large number of features and the effective graphics! The instructions at the beginning were comprehensive and clear.

At the end of the in-game day (I think), there were some statistics, and after that, I had -15000 money units! :'-( Is it because I killed too many people?

I always recommend to add some sound effects and some simple music, it adds a lot value to the game!

危ないですから黄色い線までお下がりください! ^_^

Memory Fault by jackyjjc 2018-08-16T09:42:03Z

Interesting concept! For this to be really enjoyable I'd love a way to quickly skip the dialog, it's not really tempting to play through the intro more than twice. On my first try, I got the Angela ending, on my second, I got stuck. I really like the minimalist graphics! Interesting interpretation of the theme!

CQC by kbjwes77 2018-08-14T17:22:20Z

Whoa, really neat graphics, i loved them! Very juicy! Also, the sounds were fitting! Mechanics weren't as innovative, but the shrinking arena surely fit the theme! Thanks for making this game!

Pop it! by LJay 2018-08-16T09:24:18Z

Really nice entry! The last level took me many attempts, but I finally got it (even though it felt a bit like luck). Very cute graphics and sound effects, and a very original idea! Thanks for making this!

Chill Daddy by guilhermesouza 2018-08-14T17:26:28Z

Awww, the paintings and the writing were really heartwarming! The game mechanics themselves didn't keep me interested for that long, and we needed the hint about the boss to know what to do. My favorite part was "Was there a mechanic that was cut? You'll never know..." :P Good job, team!

The Flopp by Sanguis 2018-08-14T17:20:40Z

Cute! I enjoyed the flapping hairs when the character falls down, and the glitches! :> Jumping physics felt a bit stiff and frustrating. But the checkpoints were quite forgiving. And I missed sound! The attacking mechanic seemed underused.

Unlocking new mechanics was enjoyable, and I found it convenient to have the controls on-screen! Good job!

Savle by DavidLibeau 2018-08-16T08:21:33Z

Haha, what an amazing idea! I decided to trust you, and went ahead and played it blind. I enjoyed the levels which you can solve programatically (by using ffprobe to look at video resolution, for example), but I also enjoyed the levels where you have to look at the content. This game also gives me a motivation to add Emoji support to my terminal emulator! :P

When I first read the description, I though I had to delete some of *my own* files to progress, and that the music would be played. Both assumptions turned out to be false. I had a lot of fun with this! I wished there were more levels, though!

I have over 12 years of experience dealing with the command line and shell scripts. I read this one, and it looks safe! (And contains some neat easter eggs! :3)

Camp Snuggle by Scott Steffes 2018-08-23T08:05:20Z

Haha, cute and original idea! The mechanics are simple, but give emergence to quite intricate strategy. I love how everything plays together from the logs which you have to leave room for, to the score multiplier which gives the game rhythm, if used well. The graphics and sound effects are really neat! One of my favorite games this LD!

Backey - Your Personal Backpack Manager by Horun 2018-08-14T18:18:53Z

I like all the things that are going on in this game – the wobbly physics, the multitasking, the cute graphics! Also, it's not easy! Too bad there's no sound. Overall, I love it, good job, and thanks for making this game!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

dropboy by torcado 2018-12-04T23:48:17Z

Super neat! :sparkles: I love the interpretation of the theme, and the puzzle progression, introducing new concepts one at a time! Juicy animations and simple, effective graphics!

The two puzzles introducing the lasers were kind of random, and the mechanic wasn't used much later. I would have loved some sound effects! The last level seemed impossible, and broke with the usual rules.

Void Light by nusan 2018-12-09T10:04:49Z

Super neat graphics and audio! Makes me think of demo parties, are you somehow involved with the scene? Movement feels kind of slow, and I'm not sure how this fits the theme. But everything else is just brilliant, thanks for making this!

妖怪ちゃん帰るよ — youkaichan-kaeruyo by winniehell 2018-12-04T14:48:31Z

Hi! :) Very cute graphics and music! We love all the little characters, their animations, and the intro screens! We also like the levels with their background and foreground layers!

When jumping over the first obstacle, the physics glitched and we flew high in the air. Movement feels a bit sluggy and slow. Sound effects would've been super cool!

We weren't sure about the win and lose conditions of the game – on our first play-through, we were told we "saved all demons", even though we lost many of them on the way. On our second play-through, we lost even though some were still alive. The purpose of the elements weren't clear to us, also, are there other keys than the arrow keys which you can use?

The Exchange by caeonosphere 2018-12-09T10:53:30Z

What a stellar compo entry! We enjoyed so many aspect of this game – the fantastic, humorous writing, the pretty font, the visual and sound effects! This might be one of my favorite games I've seen at Ludum Dare ever! Thank you so much for making this!

Please definitely ping us when you release more content for this game.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Gophers by randomhuman 2020-04-22T21:17:14Z

Neat atmosphere in this one! Really enjoyed the art style (love the parallax effect!), and the look-for-signals mini game! Well done! It was unclear to me whether I've seen all the content of the game, I didn't find a real ending.

Also, I enjoyed looking up which browsers support the Gopher protocol nowadays! :)

Inhabitable by inzombiak 2020-04-22T20:54:00Z

Neat! :D I love the graphics (that pseudo-3D sun? wow!) and the vocals! Throwing stuff into the sun feels very satisfying! And I like how this game comes with a tiny story, great interpretation of the theme!

I felt like I could defend myself quite well by just grabbing an asteroid and swinging it all around me (maybe the gameplay is a bit unbalanced here) – but in the end, I still got… humans. Felt like the music track would've benefited from being a bit longer.

ADRENA-LINE by managore 2020-04-22T21:05:23Z

Super solid entry! Liked the art style and the fast gameplay! I often confused the player and the goal. Getting stuck in loops was a bit frustrating. I wondered whether the levels were generated, or hand-made... Thanks for building this! :)

Human Spiderweb by miziziziz 2020-04-22T21:30:05Z

Solid entry! I didn't expect the levels to be this puzzle-y! Was impressed by the AI! Yeah, dragging the intestines around corners felt pretty bad, but I don't have ideas on how to improve that... neat little story with an, um, interesting premise! Really enjoyed this!

Genamoeba by winniehell 2020-04-22T20:39:06Z

I liked the different genes, and that you need to wait for the amoebas to evolve to find out how they look like! The music sets a really nice mood! I also love the ending screen (and am a bit sad that not many people might see it). The dark mode has nice colors!

Gameplay-wise, I had some issues: I didn't see what the walls were good for, so I just stopped building them. I also found the building popup tiresome – it felt like spawning food quickly enough is the key to having many amoebas, but I would've liked to be able to do that with a single click. It was unclear to me under which conditions the amoebas multiply.

My best score was about 70 or so. :)

up in the sky by stuffed wombat 2020-04-22T20:01:21Z

Lovely! Figuring out the movement felt fun and was not too hard. Feels like a mixture of Snakebird and Mushroom 11! I liked that it was so short and sweet, and hat a bit of a story. Hard to find anything to criticize, huh – maybe I would've enjoyed softer sound effects, and some music. The "strange plants" mechanic felt underused. Thanks for making this! :)

Chance by uberardy 2020-04-22T20:17:25Z

Whoa, super impressive for a solo entry! Really enjoyed playing a game centering so much on a story, I feel like that's unusual for Ludum Dare games. Love the art style and the writing. Had to smile about the plant that fell over during the earthquake. :P

I feel like a very soft "speech" sound when the text advances would help make it feel more juicy! Some characters stayed on top of the dialog boxes, like the person guarding the hillside building.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Phone Tree of Despair by Jezzamon 2020-10-19T20:06:11Z

For the first two minutes, I though I would hate this, but then it turned out to be really enjoyable! Thank you so much for building this! :D (And thanks for providing a web version!) I loved everything about this, this gets a near-perfect rating from me! The hold music was pretty enjoyable, actually!

When I first got in the main menu, I tried typing a code directly, and was put on hold, so I didn't get the introduction in this case. This might scare away a few players, who don't understand that you have to hang up at that point. :)

The Fast and Getting Furious by FrozenCow 2020-10-19T19:23:08Z

Heyhey :) I sure enjoy platformers (and I still fondly remember your square-line-circle morphing game)! I, also, have finished one loop, and I can see where this idea could go! Maybe you can re-use some of its ideas in the future!

Loop Line! by Sacer 2020-10-06T23:31:37Z

Haha, love it! :D Surprising how many meaningful choices I felt I could make, given that the game is only controlled with two keys! I played until I had bought all stations, and was moving so fast that the acceleration alone would probably kill all people inside the train. Some other things I liked:

- Koroshite-kun! Cake! - I can tell that you had a lot of fun drawing the map! :> - The cars are clever - giving you a reason to be careful and slow down.

Things I missed:

- Sound! Even simple ones would probably make the game much more juicy! - Maybe a defined ending?

Loopy Particle Simulator by nusan 2020-10-19T19:36:13Z

I enjoyed this, what a neat interpretation of the theme! :) Especially the tutorial seemed well-paced, and playing with it felt like building marble machines in my childhood! We had a good laugh about the particle names, and the core idea seems really promising and balanced!

I found the interface a bit unintuitive - maybe I would have liked a way to directly draw the tracks.

NightmESCHER by Rodrigo Denúbila 2020-10-19T19:31:18Z

Neat idea! This is technically really well executed, but lacks variety. Still, that we kept going until the "end" is a sign that the different interpretations of the levels were interesting - especially had to laugh about the "you are naked" dream! :D Thanks for making this!

Princess stop the princes by winniehell 2020-10-07T16:01:56Z

Haha, I enjoyed this a lot! :) Nice visual aesthetics, and a lovely intro with different music layers! :> (Um, have you considered making an interactive children's book?)

Other things I liked:

- The chest with legs came in helpful several times! - The wedding march in a minor key! Never made it through the 30 days, sadly. - It's fun to try to time the special abilities in the best way. - The train?!?

Things I'd like to see improved:

- The game is pretty unforgiving, in that you can't "heal" the castle. Maybe an ability like that would be nice. - One of the main challenges is learning how to map the throwing power to distances correctly. An additional way to represent the current throwing power would be nice - a sound effect? Some more visual lines? - I didn't really see a relation to the theme.

Ouroboros by Simon Rahnasto 2020-10-19T19:20:25Z

Lovely entry! Really like your interpretation of the theme, and playing this felt really well-rounded and fun! I was especially impressed by the voice acting, and enjoyed the shopkeeper's comments! :>

Everything from the graphics to the audio seemed really polished! The various particles were super nice, and the fights were fair. The only wish I had was for some more innovative mechanics - but overall, y'all did a really good job, I think! :)

Also, yay for LÖVE! You might want to mention that you can run the game on Linux and macOS!

Roundabout Way by Quandtm 2020-10-19T19:29:16Z

Nice entry, really neat graphics! Playing through this was surprisingly challenging and exciting! Absolutely loved the statue in the middle! :) My two wishes would be a bit more polished audio, as well as some additional game mechanics, but overall, I really enjoyed this!

Circleline by caeonosphere 2020-10-10T17:03:37Z

How wonderfully calm and aesthetic! I love how all of the elements come together. We can tell that you put in a lot of attention to detail here. Discovering how the mechanics worked was fun, and the levels didn't seem too hard. The final one was a nice challenge!

Maybe I would've liked to see more puzzle-like levels in the rotation. In one level, a tree covered one of the switches, dunno whether this was intentional.

Thanks for making this!

Unfortunately, couldn't get this to work on Linux. Don't forget to rate more other games to get a rating yourselves! :)

Brick'd Out by Game Endeavor 2020-10-19T20:12:07Z

No way - another circular breakout! We made a similar game! :)

The special bricks are a clever idea, and give you something to aim for! Also, I felt like I had a lot of control over the ball! Neat execution of this idea!

Also, yay for Godot!

Fröggo by Loren Heubert-Aubry 2020-10-19T19:25:38Z

Aw, lovely twist! This storytelling alone deserves some high star ratings! :) The later sections seemed fair, but kept me on the edge of my seat!! Made it to the ending, and left with a smile on my face. Thanks!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

GA GAME ME by Jezzamon 2021-04-27T13:45:59Z

Lovely idea, @jezzamon! I'm having technical problems playing it, though: On Chromium 90 on Linux, on a 1080p screen, each console opens a bit more to the right and to the bottom, compared to the previous one. When going in about five layers, the new console opens outside of the viewport, preventing me from finishing he game. Zooming the page in/out moves things around in confusing ways, and doesn't help.

Can I do anything to help you debug this?

Fallumns by Logan 2021-05-01T22:47:30Z

"Yeah, it's alright, I'm not really into this kind of… huh, I wonder if… whoaaa!" :D

Really nicely done, wonderful aesthetics, and nice music selection!

Disco Inferno by Simon Rahnasto 2021-05-09T19:07:25Z

Nicely executed game! There's lots to like, we just had trouble understanding the voice acting - maybe subtitles would've been good?

Disco Inferno by Simon Rahnasto 2021-05-09T20:13:58Z

@simon-rahnasto We're now also confused, because we can't reproduce this. When we start the game now, we can see the subtitles! We can also see the second character on the right of the screen during the dialogs, which had been invisible before! :O But it didn't seem cut off when we first played, because we saw the whole "CRT monitor outline". Huh!

Squiggly Squid by Flauschzelle 2021-04-27T13:58:42Z

@merlinnsound @poweranze Thanks for letting us know! We think we know what caused your crashes, and deployed a fix for it just now, if you would like to try again!

Obelisk by caeonosphere 2021-05-01T22:10:14Z

Fantastic compo submission! We played it in a group of three, and it kept us engaged every step of the way – we loved how the mechanics were introduced one by one; how often you can make decisions that feel meaningful; how well all rules weave into one another (like the mechanic about lingering); we liked the minimalist, clean presentation!

After playing it, we immediately all wanted to do a second round, and made it to level 20, I think! :)

Maybe that's the only criticism I can think of: it seemed like all the new and exciting things were introduced in the first 2/3 of playing, while the last 1/3 didn't feel as fresh anymore. Oh yeah, and we were also a bit stumped by the title screen! :D

Thanks so much for making this! (I also enjoyed looking at the time lapse you recorded!)

Something Fishy by mharring 2021-05-09T19:35:15Z

Really nice storytelling in this entry! :) I loved how the end gets tense, without knowing whether anything bad would happen! Also, nice end screen with all the fish you collected!

Physician, Heal Thy Elf by No Grapes Games 2021-05-09T20:05:12Z

Absolutely celebrated the game over screen! :D Neat intro! We thought the graphics were rather inconsistent, and maybe we would've liked the game elements be introduced more slowly over time?

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

@caeonosphere Wheee! \o/

Shepherd's Island by blinry 2022-04-05T10:57:38Z

@parkuhrmd Hehe, yeah, that's the feeling we wanted to evoke! Glad you enjoyed it!

@terylangosh Thanks for your feedback! :) Credits for the music go to the brilliant Kevin MacLeod!

Shepherd's Island by blinry 2022-04-07T09:06:06Z

@sofignedova @benjamin-humes @dirkinz Super glad you enjoyed the game! :) I agree, @flauschzelle did a great job on the undo system!

@gamedevalexandr Yeah, the gravel pit is a bit tough, and you have to do something unexpected – throwing the sheep in a seemingly strange place!

Shepherd's Island by blinry 2022-04-09T15:51:03Z

@maximbegunov Great to hear that you had a good time, thanks for playing! Did you manage to beat the "Delay the Inevitable" level? I can actually be beat! :)

Shepherd's Island by blinry 2022-04-19T10:02:23Z

@winniehell A hint for the gravel pit is that you have to drop the sheep in an unexpected place! :) Also, the game does have sound (and music!), I wonder why it didn't play for you!

Kitastrophe by Jezzamon 2022-04-09T14:47:05Z

@jezzamon We think that the server is down again! We don't see each other and there are no objects! Make sure to delay the inevitable death of the server component! :)

Kitastrophe by Jezzamon 2022-04-10T10:58:25Z

As a two-person team, we had a lot of fun exploring the game! Finding mechanics like trowing rocks on trees, or wood on houses, it felt like we experienced a little story! We didn't find blue fishes. Very cute graphics, and a lovely music track! Thanks for making this!

When one of us strayed off the map, they didn't find a way back, lacking directional cues!

We got to this point before we got bored:

screenshot-2022-04-10_12:52:58.png

EDIT: We found blue fishes! ^_^

Playground Panic by FrozenCow 2022-04-10T11:06:55Z

We didn't find the mechanics for this one especially engaging. Running after the kids didn't give us very meaningful choices to make, or strategy to employ. We stopped playing after a few breaks. I think adding more gameplay elements might help? Good job on the graphics!

Bomb Shift by klianc09 2022-04-06T09:18:06Z

Fun concept, hadn't seen a game like this before! Without explanations, figuring out the mechanics seemed part of the game here, which I really enjoyed! At first, I thought I could pick up some of the objects. The chain reactions were unexpected!

I didn't find it easy to pick up on the explosion patterns in the time I played. Adding simple sound effects would improve the juiciness, I think!

Flooded Caves by nusan 2022-04-06T09:43:13Z

What a unique idea! The game felt really balanced to me in normal difficulty! Good amount of trade-off decisions I needed to make!

Don't save the planet by winniehell 2022-04-06T08:38:23Z

Lovely intro! :) I also enjoyed the tutorial! Had to smile about the different reasons the planet has to be destroyed, and the different spaceship graphics in the three modes! Neat music and graphics!

I think this game is probably a bit too hard. Making the difficulty ramp up more slowly could be good, or making the progress meters more visible as they fill up?

My best score after three attempts in easy mode:

screenshot-2022-04-06_10:33:35.png

Feline Flood Fiasco by potatolain 2022-04-09T14:08:05Z

Really neat, we really enjoyed the puzzle sequence! Some good surprises, like the ice mechanic! And it often felt really close to save all cats! My favorite game of LD50 so far! :)

We would've liked it better if you could undo all your moves, but maybe that was an intentional restriction?

screenshot-2022-04-09_16:00:45.png

We made a similar game, but from the side! :D

Eldritch Crossing by _for_science 2022-04-10T11:14:31Z

This game builds a brilliant, creepy atmosphere! Lovely graphics style! The mechanics get stressful pretty fast, maybe a lower difficulty curve, with a few more gameplay mechanics would've kept me engaged longer!

VargaVinter by Simon Rahnasto 2022-04-10T11:09:09Z

Wow, what a wonderful wolf voice! The cruel tone really shook me, and the game never felt save. Balancing the ressources felt challenging! Reading the comments, there seems to be more to the story than I thought, I wanna give this one a second try!

Fruitloose by caeonosphere 2022-04-06T09:33:47Z

Oh little guy, why are you so, so hungry! <3

I also initially paved a path to the fruit that was as short as possible! Reversing this intuitive goal is a fun twist! Super cute noises! I liked the camera animations between levels, and the clean, polished graphics, and fitting audio in general! I think it fits the theme pretty well.

To make the game more puzzly, I might've enjoyed a higher number of moves to beat to advance to the next level. As-is, I just barely scraped by :D

TO THE DEATH (Definitely not a psyche experiment) by Sloke T 2022-04-06T08:22:52Z

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Alarm Clock Arcade by blinry 2022-10-05T20:24:47Z

@sandeia Thanks for the thoughtful and kind comment! We're glad that you had a good time, and you might be right that the difficulty curve is a bit steep in the end!

@ugly-robot Whoa, thanks for giving such in-depth feedback, we really appreciate it! Your guess about the enemy movement is exactly right, and your suggestion would make some situations much fairer. Your constructive comments really help us in figuring out what we could improve next time! :)

Game Name by Strega 2022-10-12T18:30:03Z

Fun idea! :) Loved the graphics! Some of the minigames felt easier than others, but overall, they seemed fair and challenging! I think the game was a bit too long and repetitive for me, and I would've liked more creative freedom in the minigames.

I didn't feel this game captured the spirit of the theme very well, it's more a "10 second-blocks" here.

screenshot-2022-10-12_20:26:50.png

Time Loop Traffic by _for_science 2022-10-11T19:03:21Z

Lovely! :) A very well-rounded game; we enjoyed the futuristic, glowing graphics, the dynamic sound effects, and the difficulty felt fair and satisfying. Short and sweet! We were really surprised by how smooth the time loop's transitions felt. It doesn't have a lot of replay value, for a full game, we'd love to see different landscapes, or even more interacting gameplay elements.

Echo by caeonosphere 2022-10-04T19:13:29Z

Intriguing! The intro is really mysterious and nice! But we didn't figure out the wall run/jump, even after trying it dozens of times in different angles... Our approach: Jumping in a 45-degree angle towards the wall, then pressing space again. Is that a very wrong approach? Do the objects in the air to the right mean something?

The game only worked on macOS for us. When we launched this using Wine, on Linux, clicking away the first message worked. After that, there didn't seem a way to interact with the game. A Linux build would be wonderful! :)

Racoon-aissance by Kimmyx47 2022-10-11T19:13:13Z

Cute! :3 We would've liked some kind of animation when you find one of your kids, to make it clearer that the task is done. The music was a bit high-pitched for us.

Possible bug: we noticed that in order to use the spacebar, you first have to click the paw button.

Temple of Harmony by yulotomorrow 2022-10-11T19:44:47Z

Very pretty and cute graphics! :) It took us a short while to figure out that you can *turn off* notes, but after that, we enjoyed finding the correct patterns, humming along happily! The dialog at the beginning set the mood nicely. We would have loved more levels! It was really satisfying to play through the game and find the flute in the end!

Looking forward to Aya and Pico's next adventure!

screenshot-2022-10-11_21:44:01.png

10 second pAIrer by binaryDiv 2022-10-04T18:40:51Z

Whoa, you included different soundtracks for the different locations! :O This was really motivating for us to try all locations, and generally, you did a good job to keep us engaged!

The character descriptions were pretty funny, as well! :D

10 seconds seemed awfully short to make good decisions, but I guess that's part of this theme... And one thing I'd suggest is to make sure the pixel graphics are scaled so that the pixels have the sames sizes overall.

Catrina Fish and Miss No were the last ones to stick around on the platform, and we had a hard time to find good dates for them... which turned it into an endless game, generating more and more points for us.

Ten Secs To Pack! by SpacelionJoe 2022-10-11T18:50:28Z

What an original idea! The texts in the manual were really entertaining, and we liked the pixel graphics! There's a lot of variety in the objects, and it was fun to explore them! :)

Some things we think could be improved:

- The music loop is a bit short. - There's no clear indicator of progress. - We got told "too messy", without having a lot of mess, which was confusing. - The physics felt too glitchy for us, and often, objects rotated realllly fast around the cursor.

Carrot Conundrum by blinry 2023-01-11T21:09:23Z

@cactusdan Yay, glad to hear you figured them out! :)

@forgin-bits Oh yeah, animations would be so helpful here, also to explain the pushing mechanic later! We had to cut extras like that due to time. :/ Thanks for your feedback, and props for getting the Stanley reference!

Carrot Conundrum by blinry 2023-01-17T16:35:51Z

@boaz4 @local-minimum Thanks for your detailed feedback! <3 These are great remarks on level design and UX, much appreciated!

The Teeniest Seed by Jezzamon 2023-01-11T14:49:00Z

So cute! :> I love how happy the seeds look when they plant themselves. And how they look down when falling! Exploring the different seed types and the levels kept me interested until the end. Nice easter egg in the final level! :D

This is a great gameplay concept, I'd love to play a bigger game based on this. @Piko suggested a co-op mode! :)

I didn't really like having to guess which seed you would need first. And the camera controls felt too tight for my taste, and followed the character rather quickly, which got uncomfortable to look at on a big screen.

Chop Crop & Drop by Simon Rahnasto 2023-01-11T14:45:01Z

Wonderfully cute & well-rounded! The sound effects are so cute! And all those pixel art animations are lovely! You might inspire me to try a similar kind of isometric perspective for a future game!

Exploring the game mechanics is really fun. On our first run, we planted an armored level 3 mob, without any skills to kill it, which felt a bit unfair. On our second attempt, we dared a bit too much and just were killed by too many monsters. :D I wanna give this another go! The difficulty scaled up a bit too slowly for my taste, especially when re-playing.

We noticed that on Linux, when scaling the window, the game doesn't scale with it. I like the [TLfres](https://love2d.org/wiki/TLfres) library for LÖVE for that purpose.

Having to jump step-by-step was a bit tiresome, I would've liked some pathfinding there.

When we were killed, the game crashed with this error message:

screenshot-2023-01-11_15:20:20.png

When you die in the game, you die in real life, I guess. :P

Grow In The Dark by Flauschzelle 2023-01-22T13:20:09Z

What a pretty game! I like the hand-drawn sprites! And especially the animation when the night starts is astonishing! You also picked a font and a soundtrack that go with the aesthetic very well, and the sound effects made me smile! :D

The game mechanic is really promising! Especially when multiple ghosts and houses are involved, this could result in some pretty challenging levels. As-is, I felt like I sailed through the levels (too) smoothly, but I'd be curious about what you could make this into with more time!

Placing the sign posts felt a bit tiresome, as you often have to click the right mouse button to rotate. Maybe a solution involving dragging from a grid cell into a certain direction could work? Or the option of using the arrow keys to set the direction before clicking?

Orchard Alchemy by caeonosphere 2023-01-13T22:01:34Z

What a piece of art! You surely know your stuff! :) The slow tutorial is lovely and worked really well for us. Having the mixed trees later motivates the use of the conditional flingers in a clever way! Researching all fruit kept us hooked, and the game often made us feel smart! :3

I love that the grass sounds louder when you zoom in! Very relaxing mood. It's both calm and at-your-own pace, but also chaotic! Trying things manually first, but then automating it is so satisfying. The reactivity property seemed like a clever way to limit complexity.

Panning the screen on a computer without a hardware right mouse button wasn't as easy as all the other controls. And we would've liked to see which fruit were already researched.

Bop To The Chop by RTDMFN 2023-01-13T21:01:18Z

We liked the graphics and the mood! :) I got tired of the same pattern very quickly though. On my laptop, the trees and the music were out of sync, which didn't feel great.

Eden Harvest by KeichiTS 2023-01-14T21:08:19Z

This game has a nice and calm mood! :) We felt the intro was a bit long, compared to the rest of the game. Adding more puzzles or decisions you can make to the game would make it better!

So many surprises! The VTOL moment and the underground moment were something that I'll think back to! Flying feels really good, and I love the little details like the ship in the background, and some music for a long passage.

Thanks for making this! <3

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Guerrilla Gardening by randomhuman 2018-04-24T18:38:11Z

Hey randomhuman! :) Very enjoyable game! I like the character design and the unmistakable graphics style! Took my a while to figure out that you can shoot seeds, I thought the strawberries were already planted, and I waited for them to grow! ;) Cute ending screens, and nice, undistracting music. Honestly, I can't think of much to improve! Keep hyperlinking!

Galaxy Golf by FrozenCow 2018-04-24T17:47:00Z

My dear domesticated ungulate below 0 °C! This is a fun idea, I enjoyed playing it a lot! Very nice level progression! I would have played more and harder levels!

Some high-level criticism: In the second level, I hit the ball so strongly that it moved too far away from the planet and didn't come back down. Maybe you should display the R shortcut at that point. When hitting the ball only slightly, it sometimes didn't move at all, which was unexpected. At the beginning of most levels, I had to zooooom out by a lot, maybe that should be the default starting view? Also, the current minimum zoom level feels unnecessarily restricted.

Also, here's your four-monthly reminder that sound effects improve the juiciness of games a lot! :P Take care! :)

DruffusMobil - Racing-Jump 'n' Run-Platformer by bison42 2018-04-24T18:05:07Z

Hello, fellow Congress-goers and road-explorers! Things I liked:

- Pineapples! \o/ To my surprise, they were easy to reach when jumping! - The level progression seemed fair. Introducing water later in the game gives the player to try out the controls. - The fox on the start screen was a nice gimmick! :) - Challenging, generative levels! - Neat Couchsofa music and motor sounds!

Things that could be improved:

- The Unity launcher suggested a 4:3 window resolution, which seemed suboptimal when playing. - Controls felt sluggy and imprecise. Combined with the forward-pointing camera, I found it hard to steer the car--- ahem, mobil! - Display the controls in-game, maybe? I forgot half of them when I needed them. - Space didn't do anything for me, I would have enjoyed braking! :D

Graveyard dates by Adrien Dittrick 2018-04-24T20:40:58Z

Neat idea, nice execution! I like the graphics, the music, and the writing! Also, the floatiness of the weapons/arms looks great!

Ideas for improvement: Jumping feels mechanic, because all jumps have the same height - dynamic jump physics would be great here! Also, the game crashed my computer, twice :( In level 2 and 3, I think. Feel free to ping me when you have figured out what the problem is. :)

ACCIDENTAL EXISTENTIAL by slovnoslomo 2018-04-24T12:39:34Z

Hehe, neat! :P I enjoyed the music and sound effects. The story progression and the in-between screens feel well-timed. The game is short, but poignant, and just might be perfect as it is. Well done, I enjoyed this!

Darkade by hatchet 2018-04-26T12:23:01Z

Very moody, nice concept! These two genres are the most incompatible I've seen yet! Love the graphics style!

I would have loved to have more control over the ball by hitting it with the left/the right of the paddle, and changing the bouncing direction that way.

Ah! Runaway! by Reign 2018-04-24T21:12:25Z

I'd love a more forgiving game mechanic, but otherwise, this is a great little submission! Being chased by the truck was intense!

LD59 — Signal

Beams of Bermuda by blinry 2026-04-21T19:15:21Z

@rum-ham *All* sound effects were made with our mouths! :P

Cable Connector LLC by Jezzamon 2026-04-26T18:59:56Z

We were super impressed by the fully voiced cutscenes! Great camera work, too! The boss fight *was* hard, but we got it after three attempts. More feedback for hits on the enemies would have been helpful.

Connecting the cables didn't feel that meaningful gameplay-wise. But we think the general level of polish made up for that!

Formation Tactics: Line Breaker by wdebowicz 2026-05-01T18:43:25Z

Nice, abstract strategy game! It was fun to explore the rules.

At first, we thought we were losing badly, but the game allowed us to turn that around quickly, which was very satisfying! A bit more variety in enemy pieces might have been nice. We didn't quite understand the "more attack with piece behind" rule.

Tiny Signal Lost by Strega 2026-05-01T19:53:56Z

Lovely graphics style! It was very helpful that the receivers have cables connecting them to the thing they activate.

You managed to build some neat puzzles with the simple mechanics! The delay of the signal is quite fun. Not easy at all. We occasionally mistook the "space" key for jumping, maybe another key binding would've been easier.

Our playtime was 27 minutes! Very nice how the last level revealed more and more information!

Dread Frequency by Roitchie 2026-04-26T20:15:45Z

What a stellar entry! There's little not to like! Very mysterious game in general.

That was a surprisingly cooperative monster! The jumpscares weren't as scary as we feared from the description.

Our only disappointment is that we didn't manage to befriend the monster, despite doing a second playthrough where we tried to fail the communication minigame on purpose. Is there some secret ending?

Please make a sequel, we need more content from this story universe! :D

PS: *bread is lamp penguin chair green*

Pulse by caeonosphere 2026-04-26T18:44:53Z

Very juicy! We liked how the game progresses and introduces new elements over time. Catchy music that kept us want to try again. Clean presentation!

We needed a bit to understand the rules; without the explanation, we wouldn't have noticed the mechanic of "boosting" your shots if the go the right way. Having lots of "wave sources" later in the game seemed to make it hard to take advantage of it.

Thanks for making this! :)

See Gnolls! by HolySparks 2026-05-01T19:18:49Z

We didn't realize we needed to *memorize* the flags at first! But once we had figured that out, it was very satisfying to slay the gnolls! :D

Good job on the graphics!

The audio volume seems to reset for every level, but it was good that you could set it!

Cableman [a rhythm game] by rucksack 2026-04-29T19:46:21Z

Love everything about this! The first song is super catchy, and I listen to the OST as I type this! :D

The levels introduce the gameplay elements very well, and the game feels fair and rewarding. There's little not to like! :D

Sci-Null Runner by WeGlove 2026-04-26T19:52:36Z

Very unique gameplay. We've never played an autorunner puzzlegame before. Charming artstyle. The puzzle difficulty was satisfying, but even with knowing the solution, the rules weren't always very clear. Pressing the button at the end was very enjoyable and gave us a good laugh.

MONITORS by hotdog 2026-04-26T19:14:19Z

Wow. Very atmospheric. We loved the lighting and the animations and overall concept. The sound effects were a little too jarring and the difficulty was a bit low, once we knew the basics. Still great and spooky overall experience :) We also loved the super creative themed menu.

Propagation by MemoLoop 2026-05-01T18:59:41Z

We enjoyed exploring in this little game! :) Nice music! <3

One thing we would've liked is a visual clue to which receiver would open which door. With more time, I'd be curious which other types of puzzles you could put into the game, given more time!

DROWNED OUTPOST by SHU WEN 2026-04-26T19:40:10Z

This game manages to build up quite some atmosphere! We had the advantage of playing this in a two-person team, which means we could do the waveform check and the information check in parallel! :) The mouse-over texts did a good job of explaining how to play.

It would be even better with more variety in the gameplay. The win condition was unclear to us. But we managed to lose! :D

We found the art style a bit inconsistent; the title screen suggests the use of genAI, which we would disapprove of in this context.

Shadow of The Deep: Wild Hunt by YadEnergy 2026-04-29T19:12:52Z

I loved the sounds of bumping into stuff! Which is good, because I did that *a lot*. :D Also lovely lighting effects.

The tasks weren't always clear to me, but that contributed to the mysterious mood! We explored the station a bit, and then were eaten by hungry sea monsters two times, rawr!

Shiplogging by CreeperXD 2026-04-29T19:00:20Z

We played this in "co-op" mode as a team of two people, which was fun! :) For people who used the flag alphabet for the first time, it was very hard, though. Even with pausing the game as much as we could on the "main view", we barely managed to record ships :D We noticed that the view gets wider with wide windows, which also helped a little bit to have more time.

We would've liked a more "didactic" approach, which maybe introduces only a couple of flags at a time. Sound or music can also really improve gameplay, I think.

A lovely interpretation of the theme, though!

Neat concept! We had quite some fun playing this as a team, shouting at each other to turn the receiver! :D The gameplay seems very extendible by new mechanics, like "deflectors"! I was delighted by the later introduction of multiple receivers.

Sound/music would've made this look more polished, I think. And maybe an automatic level progression would be cool.
