LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

become a game developer in 60 seconds by unprompted 2015-12-13T17:00:00

Incredible idea! I wonder how many LD34 entries will be made using this LD34 entry. ;)

Concrete Jungle by Miltage 2015-12-14T23:11:00

I love the atmosphere of this game. It's really quite relaxing.

I didn't know if there were any particular objectives initially and wasn't entirely sure how my inputs were controlling the vine. I soon realised and found the game very enjoyable.

The physics are well done. The pixel art graphics are really nice, especially the time lapse effects which add to the urban style you seemed to be going for. The background music is completely appropriate for this style of casual gameplay.

I wanted to play this one as soon as I saw your 'tech demo' Tweet of the vine's growth. Overall awesome! :D

Crazy Slinky Snake by oal 2015-12-14T14:32:00

Really good game!

Honestly, from the title, I was expecting a snake clone. This is truly great idea though. It gets much harder to orientate yourself as you progress, making for a good challenge level and difficulty curve.

My only negative is the sound effects are little piecing. Other than that, excellent game! :)

Relay by Jon Reid 2015-12-14T09:44:00

Really clever LDJAM entry. Great audio, graphics and concept!

Vine by salmonmoose 2015-12-14T23:03:00

This is great. One of the really fun and addictive games on this jam.

I like the graphics that seem to imply you are deep within a garden or bush of some kind. The sound effects are very ambient and not intrusive.

Controls are very sensitive, which I assume is deliberate. This really adds to the difficulty.

My only suggestion would be to allow you to see your score (flowers collected?) on the game over screen so you can see it and then attempt to beat it, after you fail.

Beardgrow by esayitch 2015-12-14T11:38:00

Haha, great game. Really good use of the LD34 themes too, growing a beard and moving with only two controls.

Brutally difficult for me though, I only finished with a stubble! :D

Subject Is Compliant, Subject Is Defiant by Christina Nordlander 2015-12-17T22:48:00

Intriguing storyline. I like the distinct changes in the narrative dependant on your choices. That was a pretty unique take on the them.

Galactic Growth Commander by DesignerNap 2015-12-14T21:32:00

Nice game. Good graphics, audio and clever use of themes.

I has some trouble trying to adjust my pitch though. It seemed very slow - perhaps I missed something!

AFTER GEAR by gene-z 2015-12-14T12:11:00

Good arcade style game!

The physics went a little wacky on me a few times, but not the less, it was good destructive fun.

The King is Dead by Capitals 2015-12-16T23:42:00

A good game. With nice simple graphics. Good idea for a board game.

I felt very much at the mercy of chance and didn't advance far on the board really. That might just be me being bad at it though!

Docker life simulator 2015 by Ayte 2015-12-14T16:27:00

Fun game. My highest score was 13m, which is probably pretty appauling.

Nice graphics and musics. The game's physics are quite impressive, but I noticed you can get a sneaky win by dropping the crates immediately after they appear (as they have very little initial momentum).

Cool game overall! :)

Simultaneism by Bogden 2015-12-14T08:44:00

Clever one! I really wasn't expecting the escalation to multiple games. :)

Man Simulator by Drtizzle 2015-12-16T23:49:00

Amusing game.

I didn't realise how much you had to rush on my first two play-throughs. I failed miserably and then won at the end.

Alien Breeder by ItsFrank 2015-12-14T13:25:00

The genetics idea is a very clever game mechanic. Reminds me a bit of the old Creatures Labs games, however this one has some strategy to which of the various traits you wish to select to breed.

Good idea, well implemented.

World Grower - Growth of the civilization by rhebsgaard 2015-12-14T12:00:00

Cool game. It is like an arcade version of Sim City. Needing the have certain building within nearby tiles to make other buildings work is an good mechanic.

It would be useful to have a goal, or at least multiple defined objective to keep people interested.

With a few extra features and rewards and a little polish, this could make an excellent mobile game.

Night Radar by ranseur 2015-12-14T14:26:00

Awesome and creative. I really like style of game. I think I'll come back to this one later and try to master it. I'm not very good at it yet.

Gameplay is very engaging if you're willing to sit at all. The challenge is good. Graphics and audio are appropriate for the game style.

Awesome. :D

Rocket by thecord 2015-12-14T09:37:00

Fun game, and pretty addictive. Impressive 3D graphics for a compo entry. :D

Squirrel Forest by Luminar 2015-12-15T19:17:00

Cool game. It took a while for me to understand what I had to do, but once I understood the meaning of the cards and shortly after the first Viking wave, I got a hang of it. :)

Interview at Incredible Inc by EvanEGibbs 2015-12-14T02:49:00

Just played. Really enjoyed, but boy are those some funny interview questions! :)

Potatiana Jones by Ildfuglen 2015-12-14T15:30:00

Really liked this one. Its a standard platformer, with the twist that you have to make your path through many of the areas.

Nice pixel art style graphics and background music. Enjoyed it! :D

One Man Spaceship by MrDave 2015-12-14T15:39:00

I love the funny audio, obviously spoken pew pews. I tried to do the same kind of audio in my entry, but you really nailed.

The gameplay is solid. The graphics are nice and appropriately cartoony.

I love the concept of an entire spaceship being controlled by one enormous gear stick. Great game. :D

FLOW by Romixal 2015-12-17T11:11:00

I'm not sure I quite understood the game and didn't seem to get anywhere after about 15 minutes of play. However, the style and mood the game was really good. Very ambient and moody with the static sound and slow introduction of music. The graphics style felt appropriate for the game.

A failed experiment by K1llercake 2015-12-14T12:12:00

This was the next on my list to rate, but the link is 404ing.

Yggshroom by Ghen 2015-12-14T13:55:00

Good fun game. Nice music, good quality pixel graphics and addictive gameplay. :)

liniums by 2pae 2015-12-14T14:07:00

The graphics, audio and style of the game are great.

Unfortunately it seems to run a bit too quickly for me. Am I just not very good or is the game speed tied to how fast the computer can render?

Pagdo by Tensoplast01 2015-12-14T13:00:00

Really tricky to master! Spinning the right stick every so often while moving with the left is tough to time right.

The music really helps to feel fast paced.

Unfortunately, I can't report back on my score. I seemed to have a bug where the left and right of the screen was cut off. This happened regardless of the resolution I picked. Perhaps it is a Windows 10 issue.

Good game!

Are you grown? by Rfdshir 2015-12-14T13:07:00

Disturbing and creepy. I like it.

Quite an experimental idea.

Blue & Red by zaniarm 2015-12-13T16:54:00

Very clever idea for the Two Button Controls theme. I enjoyed it. It is tricky even on the easier mode! :D

On my first go I thought you had to play during the 3, 2, 1 countdown. I didn't realise that was a 'Get Ready' counter. Whoops.

Blue & Red by zaniarm 2015-12-14T09:32:00

A real confusing challenge for your brain. Especially tricky on hard mode. A simple, fast paced game concept that works well. :D

LD35 — Shapeshift

Sharkshifters by Danilo Bezerra 2016-04-18T22:22:00

There were sharks with laser beams, so that immediately gives the game points in my book. Also, fun and simple gameplay! I certainly got into it.

My highest score was 1260.

Shapeshift by Mathias Olsson 2016-04-20T19:35:00

Brilliant. I honestly didn't understood what was going on at all initially. I had a good chuckle to myself once I realised I had to clean up after the other soldiers.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a concept like this one. An impressively unique idea! Good fun. :)

Abyssal Dream by esayitch 2016-04-19T14:46:00

Cool game!

The graphical style was really nice. Reminding me of Gameboy Classic graphics. I like that you gain more powers over time and use them to progress.

VA DA by Mase 2016-04-19T14:16:00

The most unique submission I've seen so far. I assume there is no win condition? I certainly played around for it for quite some time! Interesting take on the theme.

Shamanic Panic by panurge 2016-04-18T22:38:00

Very funny dialogue and good gameplay. Clever integration of the theme also. The difficulty really ramped up once you unlocked the ability to transform into the hare.

Spinstar by Gamepopper 2016-04-18T13:32:00

I also has the trouble other commenter had with the web version dropping to unplayable FPS. After downloading the Windows version it seemed to work fine.

A different take on standard bullet hell games. I died so many times before getting a grasp of switching colours to absorb the bullets (playing on Medium)! I like how there are so many different pattern of bullet shooting - it keeps the challenge level continually high.

I survived for just over 30 seconds on medium. :)

A Soul of Clay by fullmontis 2016-04-23T22:17:00

A really creepy atmosphere and a challenging puzzle. I really like it. Still working my way through it!

Chaos by ezombort 2016-04-19T15:45:00

Awesome game. So simply but really addictive! You should really consider making this into a mobile game.

It works you up into a crazy shape clicking monster!

anthropomorphic suspect by dunin 2016-04-21T13:36:00

Good fun and a good use of the theme.

Graphics and sound seemed both consistent and polished.

Boyd, P.I. by TTFTCUTS 2016-04-19T14:08:00

Great comical voice acting. Very funny stuff. Really nice graphics, and pretty good gameplay. Especially like the chameleon stealth element.

I struggled a little with the platforming stuff. I kept overshooting my jumps.

I really liked how you built the instructions into the game itself.

Pixel Pets by uheartbeast 2016-04-19T19:15:00

I enjoyed literally flinging my pet at the enemies to destroy them. The controls were intuitive. The levels (I assume proecedural generated) were really fun to play.

Law Claw by quadtree 2016-05-02T22:51:00

A crosshair would be useful for aiming. I love the idea of a were tiger. Very interesting game idea. :)

Cutting Hedge by Headmade 2016-04-18T13:14:00

This is amusing. The physic make it really fun and sometimes tricky, with parts falling over where you wouldn't necessarily expect it.

Got a few good laughs from my poor attempts! :)

VHS WARS by goodbadokay 2016-04-18T22:28:00

On my first try I had no idea what I was doing.

On my second try, I got it. Really great use of the shapeshift theme and excellent visual effects and gameplay. Reminds me strongly of Geometry Wars, which I love.

My highest score was 54600.

Falling Shapes by ErelDev 2016-05-02T22:46:00

Clever idea for a game. It's a more dramatic version of the pre-school toys where you have to fit a shape in a hole.

Shape Runner by verzoto 2016-04-18T12:45:00

Good twist on the endless 3D runner style game. I think I saw one slight glitch with the collision detection but it didn't happen a second time. A nice innovative game with a steadily increasing difficulty curve.

The Great Biohazard Escape by axoona 2016-04-19T16:10:00

Cool game! I found it very difficult, and had to use the walkthrough. Then again, point and click adventures aren't known for being walks in the park.

I really enjoyed the style, audio and use of the shape shifting theme. :)

I am Ned and I am a Hippo by Jun & Pate 2016-04-23T22:30:00

That's quite something else. Very strange and very absurd!

Werewolves by miwuc 2016-04-18T12:41:00

Fun game that focuses on remembering positions. It wasn't very tricky but a great idea. Great casual gameplay.

TerraShift by Leon Möhring 2016-04-18T20:12:00

I liked the strategy of the game. Pretty intuitive as the gameplay was quite discoverable without the need to read the instructions.

The graphical style was very nice, as I felt it suited the game well. I think would make an excellent 'on-and-off' mobile puzzle/strategy game.

Shiftah by GaryS 2016-04-20T19:58:00

Congratulations! This is a great first game ever. It looks very polished.

I found it really fun to play. It is deceptively difficult and I ended up just going as fast as possible and hitting space many times to get through.

Agent Shift by jollyserpent 2016-04-19T19:43:00

Great idea and well executed. A tricky game to get to grips with but works very well.

Escape from the pit! by Been 2016-04-18T13:25:00

Good game mechanics and clever puzzles!

I definitely had some problems the circle's physics (it doesn't seem to jump properly all the time), but it was nothing that caused too much of a problem. The physics engine overall was pretty impressive.

I like the fact you've put in checkpoint loading, as I had a few troubles with the big jump near the start and the near-end jump. I also like how the different shapes has different strengths and weakness and power ups were available to change these around a bit. It was good fun and quite a decent challenge!

Completed it in 384 seconds. :)

Boat! by Kaffeefleck 2016-04-25T19:15:00

Good idea and plays well, but needs more levels! :)

Squircle by Wan 2016-04-19T15:54:00

All Hail Squircle. Kind of the shapes.

I really liked this game. Great narrative and good 'loading/downgrading' of the graphics. The humour was right up my street.

The gameplay was just complex enough to be interesting, while maintaining a simplicity that suited the game well.

Blubbymorph by antarka 2016-04-19T14:02:00

Seemed like a very fun little game. I liked the graphics and audio tracks. Unfortunately, I couldn't work out how to beat the boss of the first dungeon, but that may have been me rather than anything wrong with the game.

What I played was really enjoyable. :)

Wobble Yoga by q_dork 2016-04-19T19:28:00

Well fun to play as a local multi-player game with one person controlling half of the body.

Reminds me of QWOP.

RoboRob by RoboRob 2016-04-25T19:24:00

Good stealth game with clever use of the theme. My only issue is that some of the enemies turn without warning. It would be useful for either the enemies to turn slower or for you to be able to see ahead in some way.

LD37 — One room

Just pick a number by BoltKey 2016-12-11T23:18:00

I'd heard of the Prisoner's Dilemma before. Really interesting use of it!

LD38 — A Small World

A Bloody Small World by blinry 2017-05-03T22:32:48Z

This was really great. It seems very well polished, especially for a Ludum Dare game. I like the ongoing tutorial as you play, along with the subtle movement pushes in the right direction.

My poor human's body failed her because she didn't get enough oxygen to her stomach.

Mr Antibody by DivineOmega 2017-05-01T15:39:02Z

@blinry

Thanks for the comments! Really appreciate it.

Regarding the selection of an organ twice, this is so you can try it on different difficulties if you so wish! :)
