Awesome as ever! Loved the ram-raiding and the central mechanic is really tight. I hope to see an extended version of this...
I liked the badass way she could fire behind her without looking! Needs polish but there is a cool concept at heart here - having to kill regularly to keep alive.
The evil twin of Angry Birds! I really enjoyed this. Great atmosphere, visuals and sound. The difficulty seemed to take a sudden hike between levels two and three but this was still a lot of fun. Excellent work!
Had to check this out because it shares a name with my entry! We must have been watching the same films.
Anyway, three nice little minigames. I feel you missed a trick by not tying them together somehow but they were all enjoyable in their own right.
I love this! Such a nice concept and mood. I've just impressed more ladies in five minutes than in all the rest of my days combined. Thanks Mikey!
Lovely dreamy mood. Great visuals. I enjoyed playing this.
Really nice smooth style and gameplay. A very enjoyable five minutes.
The first game I've played in which it rains naked virgins! I could hardly catch them within the time limit though. Nice B-movie sound effects and style.
Awesome aesthetic, music and mood! I don't think I would have figured out the puzzles if I hadn't cheated and peeked at the spoiler but that's my fault, not yours. :) I'm also not sure how useful the mingame was but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Great work!
Nice idea but I second the suggestion of having indicators of some sort to show how long things are taking.
I loved the way the audio ties in with the gameplay. In fact, every aspect of this meshes together beautifully. I really enjoyed playing it.
Some more interesting art and sounds would have gone a long way towards making this more atmospheric but I'm really glad I played it nonetheless. It's nicely written and plotted. The ending made me smile and has genuinely brightened my day. Thank you!
The layout of some levels was slightly confusing (to my eyes, at least) but I was just happy soaking up the visuals. Great style and concept.
I can't wait for the post-compo version! The mood of this was excellent - wonderful art, animations and sound tied to a very charming premise. The characterisation of the servile trolls and their grumpy queen was spot-on and added a lot to the game's appeal.
The gameplay mechanic is very promising too, and makes good use of the theme.
Excellent work!
Great concept, lovely art style and graphics, smooth controls. I did feel sorry for my little dudes! This is a very polished piece of work and I really enjoyed playing it.
Yep, the view from up there is really nice...
I loved this game! The writing is great and I appreciated the way you anticipated every stupid move I might consider making (dialling the policeman was actually my first instinct!). This is definitely one of my favourite experiences of the competition so far. Thanks!
Very nice little game. Neat mechanic and cute visuals. It's a very small point but I would have liked to be able to use the spacebar to continue between rounds, rather than needing to return to the mouse. Good work!
Fun idea. It could really have done with a heap more games in the mix as I kept getting the same few permutations but I enjoyed playing.
Lots of nice little touches here (the sultry voice acting and soaring overhead silhouettes, for example) and cool mechanics such as using the grass for cover. The difficulty level was pleasingly unforgiving but I love crystals so I kept coming back. Haven't quite finished it yet but I will...
Excellent game - lovely polished style and the mechanics worked really well. It was like a pared down 'Pirates!' and very enjoyable to play.
Minor quibbles: tenuous link to the theme and a poor choice of key for entering cities (the player has to take their hand off the mouse or keys to hit enter - space would have been preferable).
Altogether, a really strong entry. Nice work!
Excellent. The story-telling was concise but evocative, the visuals and sound matched the mood perfectly and the gameplay was varied and fun. Very enjoyable!
Just lovely. Can't wait to see a full game in this style.
It's a shame the other sentai don't work yet. The skeleton is in place here for a really nice game. I hope you continue to develop it. Music, visuals and controls all mesh together nicely.
This is a definite favourite. An effective lack of hand-holding, together with great visuals and music, make the world seem nicely alien. The level design is excellent. I really enjoyed playing.
Lovely laid-back mood and beautiful graphics. Nice music too. I played this one for quite a long time just soaking up the atmosphere. I think it would only take a few tweaks to balance the gameplay (and a few extra levels and enemies) to turn it into a really addictive little game. Excellent work!
This is one of my favourites so far. It's clever, funny, nicely written and planned, and just really satisfying to play. I loved all the little touches like squashing ants and signing your name too. Great work!
180! Do I win a prize? :)
Nice, smart little game with great visuals and smooth controls. Snappy!
Yep, this is thoroughly awesome. Lovely tight gameplay, great audio and graphics, the whole thing just feels smooth and satisfying. Perfect learning curve, too.
A very cool little game, an RPG pared down to it's bare essentials. Lovely effective pixel art and sounds. Great fun.
That was a lot of fun. Graphics and sound were nice and clean (especially loved the little Defender style people) and the jousting was tricky but satisfying. Good work!
I think this is my favourite experience of the competition so far. I loved the fact that my beautiful(!) pictures were collated into an online gallery. I also really enjoyed looking through other people's work - some of it is astonishing given the time limit! Interesting to see how almost everyone drew 'dream' in the same way. :)
Fantastic concept realised with polish and flair. Top marks!
I have ALWAYS wanted to be Kevin Costner in 'The Bodyguard'! Highlights of this hugely enjoyable game for me were:
-The bullet is sensationally high-velocity.
-The bodyguard is wearing an implausibly tight suit.
-Whitney Houston.
I did actually complete the game and I was left wanting more. I really hope your Greenlight takes off. If it does, may I request a key which allows you to put your hand to your ear as if receiving unspecified instructions. :D
Really, great work!
Wonderful! A really enjoyable game with great graphics, audio and gameplay.
It took me a little while to work out how the time line was functioning but when I did I found this to be a fun little game. The concept is cool and the main gameplay mechanic is pretty satisfying.
That was fun! Cute graphics and sound and a nice variety of mechanics.
Nice atmosphere and thought-provoking text. A few more sound effects would have gone a long way to deepen the mood but otherwise I really liked this.
It was a little too short and simple which is a shame because the concept is nice and the controls and style are really cool.
A nice little finger workout with a really cool story and art style. Great stuff!
Loved the Mickey Mouse style voiceover and the candy factory vibe. The gameplay was tricky in the later stages but the controls were smooth and intuitive. A little more variety would have gone a long way but I did enjoy playing this.
Didn't have a friend on hand so I had to make out with myself, which was actually very enjoyable! Love the style and the clever mechanics. Really nice work.
I was far too slow to beat this and it was a little frustrating to be thrown right back to the start each time! I had fun, though - it's a neat concept and I like the clean minimalist style. I'm going to try it on a touch screen later and see if that improves my performance. :)
I second the request for a shark! Otherwise, this was awesome. Lovely concept and great style.
Very cool little game. Lovely smooth controls and a simple but addictive mechanic (it's a nice trick to have the flies closely resemble the enemies) made for a very enjoyable game. I played this for quite a while - it definitely has the 'one more go' factor.
Superb! An amazingly polished game with gorgeous art and sound. Above all, it was really fun to play - I've already spent more time on it than any other game so far. Awesome work.
One of my favourites for sure. Everything meshes together so well - story, graphics, sound - to create a really compelling atmosphere. Loved it.
I'm going to echo most of the other comments and say the art is great and the controls are smooth but the game is way too demanding from the outset.
This was pretty funny, partly because of how terrible I was at playing it! I did get the hang after a while, though, and it's a pretty satisfying mechanic. Special mention should be made of the physics and the epic voice-over.
Great game. Superb art style and music. Poor chicken kid...
Good concept and a terse, effective writing style. I really liked the crossover between some of the stories and the way you made the player question the limits of their agency. Good work.
Got stuck on the fourth night... Really enjoyed the experience up until then, however. Great moody visuals and sound, creepy and intense.
"Please hold still for best results." :D
There was a nice vibe to this, helped along by slick visuals and a fun mechanic. I just wish I could have got further but the scanner proved too quick for me every time...
Cool idea! I made it through some of the songs just by guesswork and using the hints but that's the fault of my ears, I think. I could have done with the instruments coming in at different points to really make it obvious for me. Anyway, a very nice, original little game.
Awesome atmosphere and music. The gameplay was fun and the art style sat nicely with everything else. Good job!
Excellent mood, tricky but rewarding level design. This had a real Canabalt style appeal which kept me coming back. Great work!
Beautiful sound and visuals. It feels really polished and the difficulty is pitched just right in my opinion. A blast.
Nice work! Really effective storytelling, both text and visuals, given an extra boost by the 10-second mechanic. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this.
@CustomPhase - Thanks for playing and for spotting that goof. I guess I could change it as a typo but I might let it stand as an unintentional 'feature'. :)
@AdventureIslands - Yes, I had big plans for the final scene but unfortunately ran out of time so I had to just rough out that little party scene with about twenty minutes to go!
@vanderZwan - Haha, I hadn't noticed that! I also just discovered myself that you can boost one of the other characters onto your head during the final party and jump around with them perched on top. :)
@rylgh - Thanks! Good spot with the overlapping dialogue - I'll look into that straight away. There is one 'pause' in the very first conversation which needs space even when nobody is talking but otherwise it shouldn't do that.
@oajfh Hmmm, I'll have to look into that... Was he doing anything in particular when it happened?
@Zccc - Thanks for the spot, I'll look into that straight away.
@Colapsydo - You are the first to spot that wardrobe malfunction! I love your pic - I was thrilled when I first realised you could boost a player onto your head like that. :)
@Pierrec - Which browser did you use? I've had someone else make the same complaint about the hitboxes/jumping and I'm not sure why it seems to be doing that in certain cases...
Great concept and fun, fiddly gameplay. I was really bad at it but I enjoyed playing.
Really promising mechanics and mood. Just a shame you didn't have time to put in a few more levels and some more challenging mechanics. Lots of potential here.
Awesome atmosphere with perfect visuals and music (I'd love to see the intro fleshed out a little - it's a beautiful, succinct bit of storytelling).
I cottoned to the mechanic very quickly and am pleased to report that I drowned all the agents on my first go! *cackles*
An excellent entry which I really enjoyed playing. Thanks!
Beautiful style, mood, visuals and sound. It's shame there isn't more variety in the conversations and some 'win' condition to aim towards, but this was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Ha! Whatever happened to streakers? You don't see them around half as much as you used to and I think that is society's loss... Anyway, I really enjoyed this. It was funny, nicely put together and very enjoyable to play.
Nope, this has me stumped...
Zut alors! Smartly written and plotted, this must have been a lot of fun to write and that enjoyment is infectious - I had a blast reading it.
Wow! My favourite so far. A really intense experience with excellent writing, perfect audio and graphics (although these last were very basic, I think they had to be in order to recreate the intense focus needed for the task) and really satisfying, cerebral gameplay. You expected far more of the player than simple reactions or spatial logic, something really unusual in games, and I'm hugely impressed by the way you managed to mesh the story with the gameplay so perfectly.
I did complete the game, at least I think I did (it stopped after I'd cut four or five sets of four wires) but I just got a black screen at the end. Is this intentional?
Anyway, I can't mark this down at all. Thank you for a phenomenal experience.
Short and sweet. Playing this painted a big smile on my face from start to finish. Perfect graphics and audio. Also the most satisfying stomping and eating mechanic since Rampage! Excellent work!
Score: 990! This was a fun little concept, nicely executed.
Bustin' doors is what I do best! :)
I'm a sucker for text adventures and this was an enjoyable little puzzler. It suffers from some of the problems which have plagued the genre since time immemorial (or, um, the 80s), namely forcing the player to play 'guess the verb' when they know already what it is they want to do, but that was part of the fun for me.
Impressively coded and nicely plotted. I really enjoyed playing.
Fun! I would have liked even more variety in levels and perhaps a number of days with each day lasting ten seconds (maybe nights too with different levels?). Anyway, really nice work.
Fun and stylish but the gameplay could have been a little more varied. I was expecting more levels with a greater choice of boxes and colours. This has potential, though, and could be expanded into something really nice. It certainly has a lovely atmosphere.
Took a little while for me to get into this but I really liked it when I did. A nicely tuned difficulty level kept me playing and the graphics, sound and gameplay meshed together really well.
Oh yeah this is hard alright! Fun though, with nice trippy visuals and sounds. I would have liked a difficulty setting but otherwise this is a cool little game.
Who knew defenestration could be such fun? I love the concept and the style. Art and music are spot on. Throwing things out of windows is great.
So much fun! So much horrifying, blood-haemorrhaging fun! I really enjoyed this - an awesome mechanic with great intuitive controls and a lively pace. Just really entertaining.
I'd love to see an extended version with more interesting backdrops (although the current minimalist style works just fine too) and a less repetitive soundtrack. Perhaps more variety of enemies too. But those aren't criticisms, just suggestions in case you plan to take this further. I hope you do!
Smart storytelling, excellent graphics and audio, smooth controls. Above all, an awesome premise and central mechanic. I liked this one a lot!
375 388! Nice little runner, although as it gets faster it becomes more luck than skill because you can't see where you're going to land when you jump.
I really like this. My initial impression was that it was overly confusing but I'm so glad that I stuck with it (and watched the video) because when I did get the hang of the controls I found it to be a really enjoyable and rewarding experience. An excellent, innovative mechanic!
Very nice little game. This should be used as a compulsory training aid in all hospitals!
The graphics, music and 'voice-acting' created a really nice, quirky mood and the gameplay was perfectly pitched - not too easy but not too frustrating either. Excellent!
A smart little game with a nice mechanic. Maybe a little more variety would be nice but I enjoyed playing this.
Really slick and polished gameplay. Everything about this worked and I had a lot of fun playing. Good job!
The visuals could maybe do with a bit of polish but the variety keeps this game fresh and makes for a very enjoyable experience. The music is great too.
I don't care when the media says, I love toying with the fabric of nature! This was a really nice, addictive little game. It could perhaps have done with some sort of tutorial level (for slow learners like me) but once I got the hang of it I really enjoyed it.
Such a shame that I can't open this because it looks like just my kind of thing... :( I do have an ATI graphics card, however. It just hangs when I try to open it.
Loved everything about this and can't really fault it at all. In an expanded version, I'd love to see more dangerous animals and a system which allowed you to upgrade your weapons overnight. That's all it would take, I think, to make this into a game which I would pay to have on my ipad. Great work!
Atmospheric and cerebral, great work. Some appropriate audio would have gone a long way but I otherwise really enjoyed this.
Visuals and sound are nice, as are the smooth controls, but the game really needs a bit more variety or risk to the player to make it exciting. Still a fun experience though.
Lots of fun with a really nice atmosphere! The smooth controls reminded me of Canabalt and I could see myself whiling away time with this on an ipad. Good work!
Great idea! The simple visuals work well to create a mood (I especially loved the little eyes peering at you from the darkness) and the hot/cold audio mechanic is excellent. Everything in this game just meshes together really nicely to create a very satisfying experience. Good work!
When I saw the title, I thought it would be cool if this were inspired by 'The Lost Vikings.' And I was right - it is cool! It's pretty awesome, in fact, with great level design and a nice aesthetic. I really enjoyed playing it.
What a great concept! Simple but very satisfying to play. I can see this idea being expanded into a much larger and more varied game. Graphics and sound were nice too. Very enjoyable.
Great idea, excellent smooth controls and really solid puzzle mechanics. Proper heart too, helped by the atmospheric music - I really felt concerned for poor Dave.
I was interested to read your thoughts on Construct 2. I used it myself because I have absolutely no programming experience but in your case I can see that it would probably be more trouble than it's worth.
Overall, a solid entry which was very enjoyable (and surprisingly moving) to play.
Like an unholy mash-up of Burroughs and Jeff Noon, I really enjoyed reading this. The colour scheme lingers in the retina though... :)
Simple but beautifully judged platforming. The controls were smooth and the short levels were nicely balanced. It was very satisfying to plot a course and bounce through them.
Special mention to the excellent music.
Good work!
Lovely effects and atmosphere. Felt like I was taking part in some kind of primaeval chemical battle! That said, it does of course need a lot more polish and variety to be a really effective game. But I hope you persist with it - there is definite potential here!
Cute nostalgic style and fun simple gameplay. Just needs some computer controlled runners. Good work!
Haha, I liked this! The questions were right up my street and I really appreciated the overall vibe. Today I've learnt: Pulp Fiction references the number 5 a lot. As you said, who knew? Not me.
Great work.
My high score was 174! Nice style, visuals and sound. The controls seemed slightly unresponsive at times and it was really frustrating to get stuck because of the clouds' shapes but I enjoyed this nonetheless. A smart little game which could easily be expanded into a really satisfying runner.
Awesome! One of my favourites so far. The mechanic is perfectly balanced - not too tricky but just difficult enough to be really satisfying when you get it right. The style is great too.
My only complaint is one which others have already noted - it took me a long time to work out that I had to place all the attack cones to end my turn.
Overall, an excellent entry. I really enjoyed playing and hope a full game will come of this!
My first thought for the compo was actually to use 'seconds' in this sense but I couldn't think of a way to do it. This, of course, is the way to do it! An excellent little game with great graphics and audio and a really satisfying duelling mechanic. Superb!
A thought-provoking experience, nicely communicated. I'm glad I tried this.
Fun premise and some great little touches like the maniac grins of your fans and the spurts of blood. Good tricky level design too. One or two sounds (explosions particularly) would have been nice but I really enjoyed playing this.
Haha, I'm always happy to unleash a bit of unspeakable evil on the world. This was fun.
Fun, quirky and thought-provoking. I breezed it on my second playthrough. :)
Awesome artwork and satisfying gameplay. It just had a really nice crazy vibe to it - would be fun to see it expanded into a proper dungeon crawl. Good work!
Excellent idea, nicely executed. Would have been great if the view were zoomed out just a little. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this!
I love the protagonist's little smiley rectangle head! Music is good too. A shame there aren't more levels as this looked to be shaping up nicely.
It might have come about through necessity but the use of simple labelled boxes for all the game's elements (including the antagonist) actually has the effect of reducing them to their essential functions, making the situation seem archetypal and timeless. It made for a powerful and thought-provoking experience.
If you expand this any more, I'd suggest adding an ending for people who pile things up against the door, which was my first instinct.
Great work.
Running Windows 8, I had a similar problem to the one described by Paul Sinnett above. There's probably something wrong at my end so I'll keep trying. I'd like to play this.
Works fine with the new .jar! Very enjoyable little shooter. It could have done with a bit more variety and I also agree with the comments about the colour of the bullets, but overall I found this to be a fun experience. The visuals and audio mesh together really nicely.
There is a really nice idea behind this. It's just a shame that the theme wasn't 60 seconds as I think 10 makes things a little too rushed! Also, I would have liked it if the evaluation screen at the end didn't cover the playing area so I could compare the stats with what I've just built.
That said, I enjoyed this a good deal and could see it being expanded into a really neat game. Good work!
Great concept and the art style is just beautiful. The gameplay is very satisfying too, if a little tricky at times (slides a little too much for my liking). Excellent work!
The control switch really threw me, which was a good thing! Kept me on my toes and was very enjoyable. Great aesthetic and the audio in particular was very effective.
There is a lot of content in this and it's very nicely balanced. A really fun entry with a slick visual style (the background and lighting in particular). Good work!
Simple but fun. The audio really added a lot to the tension.
I really liked this. A simple but clever concept and engaging gameplay. And your theme tune is awesome! :)
I was really bad at this but I had a lot of fun nonetheless. It could be expanded, I think, into a really nice full game. I dig the old school atmosphere in particular.
I loved the Alice in Wonderland stylings - the visuals and sound are just awesome. The level design is neat too - a really fun little game.
Having rated yet because the web link doesn't seem to be working. :(
Okay, it worked this time. Man, that was hard going! And I don't even like mayonnaise... Nice concept and execution. I feel a little stronger now.
This is one of my favourites so far. Really creative mechanic and I loved the challenging difficulty level. It seems simple at first but there is actually a good deal of strategy below the surface. Great work!
Nice, poignant little vignette. I enjoyed sending a hurried message and I enjoyed receiving it too. Thanks!
A little masterclass in mood and composition. The text is sharply written too. Nice!
Lovely concept of changing seasons and I liked the way it tied into the game's mechanic. Nice clean art style too.
Lovely variety of levels and mechanics. There is scope here for a really interesting expanded version, perhaps with some more interesting hazards and enemies. Good work!
Ha! Nice idea. :)
It's a shame the ram rider doesn't keep his mount in the game! This was a cool little experience - I managed to snag a friend to test it with me and we both enjoyed it. Me especially, because I kicked his ass. :)
Brilliant! I've just spent more time than I care to admit playing this. It's really satisfying figuring out the best technique to use. And the physics feel really nice - I fancy trying it out in real life now (might end badly...). The visuals and audio give the whole thing a lot of charm. Top work!
Wow. Everything about this is great.
Plays perfectly on my ipad. I loved the idea and the dexterity-testing gameplay. Really nice clean look too. Great fun!
Impressively smart and simple. I kept going back for one more try and found the controls to be pretty intuitive once you got the hang of them. Great idea, beautifully implemented.
Nice topical writing with a cool premise and a smart visual design. I'm not familiar with Dedalus - I'll have to look into it. Thanks for a fun read!
This was a lot of fun. Loved the weapons (black hole gun especially) and the variety kept things fresh and interesting. Excellent all round. Great work!
Really polished and enjoyable. Great work! I would have liked to be able to see how much money I had when I was in the shop but aside from that very minor quibble I loved this.
This is way more fun than it has any right to be! I'm still playing it now. I love the concept and the slyly humorous execution. Thought-provoking and funny at the same time. I'm going to leave it running and see how far it goes. Great work!
Beautifully polished game with lots of character in the little details. I really enjoyed the puzzling and the difficulty curve was spot on. Excellent work!
Very cool game. I love the art, sounds and hardcore difficulty level. I wasn't a greedy player but even without the gold I couldn't get very far... Really had that 'one more go' factor, though.
Excellent work!
Good solid level design, atmospheric sounds and nicely responsive controls. I enjoyed playing this.
Fun concept and a nice test of tying speed! I managed to get three endings.
Oh this was great! Excellent quirky storyline and a really fun shooter to boot. I played as William Crawford because I've always wanted a ship made of cheese.
A really nice little game. The pace of the gentle puzzling mechanic is just right. Very enjoyable!
"And she never ate turnips again..." Ha! Nice simple mechanic and addictive gameplay. Could have done with a few more enemies for variety but I enjoyed playing this.
I could only make 5. :( Fun little game, though. The physics were really effective.
I loved the audio, graphics and gameplay. Really nice style and atmosphere! Embarrassingly, I couldn't work out how to get past the second level but I'm sure that's my problem not yours...
Tricky controls accurately reflect the many pitfalls of public toileting! I didn't really know what I was doing for much of the time but I had fun with this.
Clever premise; entertaining art, writing and voice acting; fun mechanic. This is just a great, good-natured bit of entertainment. Thanks!
Wonderful mood and great, genuinely emotive, storytelling. I felt a little stab of poignancy the first time the ring activated. Good work.
Loved it! A rare set of top marks from me.
I personally think the slow-mo really made it. I loved the bullet-time effect of dodging through flying debris. I would have thought highly of this game if there had just been the one level but the extra thought that has gone into it makes it outstanding.
I really hope you're going to develop this further, perhaps tying it somehow to a story. There is great potential here.
The falling/jumping trick was neat. It took me a while to get used to because it's so counter-intuitive but that was part of the fun. This game was maybe a little too tricky for my old fingers but I enjoyed it a lot. Nice mood and general aesthetic.
Awesome! Now I really want a full game involving robot knights. As for things I'd like to see in it - enhanced jousting including foot combat; quests to undertake against post-apocalyptic equivalents of giants, dragons and sorcerors; customisable shields, weaponry and steeds. Oh there is so much you could do with this!
For this version, I'd just echo the suggestion of allowing the player to turn around when the match is drawn, rather than having to restart.
Altogether, an excellent entry, pretty much faultless in all areas.
I thought this was a very accomplished game indeed for such a short timeframe. There was real tension and drama in the setup and execution.
I'm not sure why some people are saying it didn't make much use of the theme - that was the idea of the 10 second headstart as well as the running, right? I thought it was a clever concept which worked really well. I do agree that it could have used a faster pace, though. And a couple of carefully chosen sound effects would go a long way.
Anyway, it would be wrong to mark you down for that when this game is otherwise packed full of good content. Excellent work!
Nice work! Cool art style and simple but strong mechanic. The need to make quick decisions really added to the tension, as did the panicky sound effects. The difficulty level was just about right too.
Some of the traps were pretty difficult to avoid which was frustrating at times but this was otherwise a really fun game with a nice atmosphere. The implacable cyclops made for a sinister enemy and the lighting helped a lot with the tension. The audio could perhaps benefit from being more intense to match. Good work!
Nice concept! Just the right amount of characters and locations too - any more and it could have become confusing. I almost managed to sort everything out but had to check the youtube video to get the best ending (didn't think to shoot). 'Fix tie' was my favourite command!
I will endorse this game even if Mr S will not. It may be, I think, my favourite experience of the competition so far. It certainly messed with my perception of time and space more than any of the others!
Gorgeous visuals and music. One of the most atmospheric games I've played so far by a long way. I also like the storytelling mechanic although I have to say that by the time I was looking for four rotors I needed a little more to keep me going - maybe some new gameplay elements as I got further into the 'forest.'
This is the first full set of stars I've given this LD. I thought it was just an utterly beautiful game. Gorgeous artwork, elegant sound design, just enough interaction to really draw you into the conversation between the two characters. Above all, it was beautifully written. I especially liked the little period touches like Leos' sudden embarrassment at forgetting to ask her name.
A wonderful piece of work with a mood which will linger with me. Thank you!
This is absolutely beautiful! The music and artwork is lovely, the gameplay is very clever and perfectly judged, the understated story of opposites helping one another is gently poignant. Very polished entry, one of my favourites so far.
Great stuff! I much prefer finding games to rate through this method than Ludum Dare's own listings. Very creative idea with a slick interface. Thanks!
That was a lot of fun! I did feel a little guilty for killing them so often though, especially when they trusted me! :)
Great audio and very satisfying puzzle mechanics. A little visual polish would have gone a long way but I do understand how hard that is within the time limit. There is more than enough fun here to make up for it, anyway. Great work!
A really cool experience. The voiceover worked beautifully with the simplicity of the visuals. This would definitely bear expanding into something longer.
Great dialogue and mood. The music choice was spot on too. I was terrible at the actual gameplay but I thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless. A very funny, entertaining entry!
Certainly the best-looking and most atmospheric entry I've played so far. Really immersive. Great attention to detail as well. I'll be playing this again later and trying to find out a little more of the story...
Gorgeous to look at and a really lovely concept. Hoovering up the little enemy dudes was a lot of fun, even if I wasn't very good at it. My only gripe is that I would have liked a little more audio feedback for the different events (eating, house being taken over etc.) but this is a superbly polished entry and a great take on the theme.
This is a Thing of Beauty! Loved the quirkiness, the art style and the control system. Just needs a timer and some bouncy music. Really good fun!
A very interesting concept and great sound make for a really atmospheric game. I'd love to see it developed further.
Beautiful. Music, visuals and gameplay all work well together to create a really powerful mood. I'd have liked maybe a few more radios to find, a few more things to discover along the way but that's not a gripe, that's just me saying that I wanted to stay in the experience for longer. Great work.
Loved it. Really nicely sketched characters, a fun mechanic, well-chosen music, cute artwork and above all a lot of heart. I've played it through three times and I'll probably come back to it again later.
(My first party was mediocre, by the way, but I'm improving!)
Beautiful audio and lovely clean graphics. The gameplay itself was great if a little buggy at times. Also, I think a lot of the levels generated seemed to be impossible to complete (takes more than 30 to build the first bridge, for example)? Still, a fun experience with loads of potential.
Who knew repaying karmic debt was so much fun? Makes me want to go and accumulate some more. I loved the premise of this and the atmosphere was incredible - artwork, sound, the lot. A lot of depth and polish for a jam game too.
My only complaint (and this is a very subjective one) is that I had to look at the keypad while typing and so missed out on a lot of the awesome visuals. But this is my fault really for not being able to touch type...
Anyway, superb work. One of my favourites so far.
Amazing. I'm more than a little in awe of this, as I am all of your games. Great atmosphere, visuals, music, the lot. I managed to rejuvenate the planet and the puzzles were pitched just right - I had to stop and think but didn't get too frustrated. Special mention for the cheating CPU and the floating stool! Top marks!
Thanks everyone!
I think I upped the twitch factor of the controls too far because I was playing the game so much yesterday that it became deceptively easy for me. If I do a post-jam version, I'll definitely bring them down again.
@mrspeaker - I was hoping someone would notice that! :)
@primaerfunktion - Hahaha. I could be sly and congratulate you on finding a secret gnome-levitating spell but the truth is I had no idea that would happen - I always use WASD to play. Thanks for giving me a laugh!
Fun idea, nicely executed. I loved the breaking news and the cookie clicker appeal of the gameplay. This could definitely be expanded into something bigger and more complex if you wanted to. I'd love to play a version with more control, more random events and tougher challenges. Nice work.
Very interesting mechanics and a nice difficulty curve. Music and visuals pair really well together to create a strong mood. Very enjoyable!
Well my stress levels are through the roof but I really enjoyed myself at the same time! This is a great, panicky little platformer with just the right balance of difficulty to make you come back for more. I'm afraid to say that I didn't complete it but I felt sooooo close on occassion...
Graphics and sound are nice and the premise is cool and well connected to the theme. Good work!
Great concept and very satisfying to play. I noticed the same bug as others have but it didn't spoil the fun for me. Nice polished feel and strong soundtrack.
Beautiful sounds and a really great concept - simple but elegant. Excellent work.
I think I got stuck on the same platform as Franklins Ghost - seemed a shame because I didn't know where I would be teleported to until I tried. Otherwise, a really cool little game. Nice mood and visuals - it would be interesting to see it expanded in the way you mentioned. Good work!
Good stuff, great mechanic and lots of fun to play. I was terrible at it but I enjoyed every moment regardless!
A really nice little minimalist puzzler. The level design was well thought out and balanced. Good work.
Wow, first game played this Ludum Dare and it's a corker! Beautiful concept, elegantly executed. I loved Balancitos so knew I would enjoy this. Great stuff!
Nice idea and the gameplay felt really tense. Some other racers would be great but I do understand the time constraints were a bit tight for this. I also felt maybe it could be a little more forgiving of driving off the track - perhaps a health bar or slowdown rather than an instant kill? Great fun though - I kept playing for quite a while to try to beat my time!
A really nice story with a sweet ending. Gentle and effective. The art style was great and the action segments worked well. I'd love to see it expanded to give them a little more variety. Good work!
I didn't know I liked exploring caves with bizarre ambient music until just now but I definitely do! This was just a really great experience. Love the art style and the sounds, they work together perfectly to create the mood.
Beautiful. Can't fault this on anything and so glad I played it. I'd love to see a longer game come from this.
Very atmospheric. I love the style. The minimalist approach also feeds nicely into the gameplay - you're being asked to judge people based only on a rough 'portrait' allowing a guess at age and gender and a three word sentence. As I played I found myself agonising over lines like 'I'm not ill.' Does that mean she is ill and she's trying to hide it? Might she be contagious? How would the crowd respond if I shot her? Essentially, you allow the player to fill in all the gaps for themselves and try to read between the lines which makes for a very thought-provoking game. It wouldn't have been so effective if you'd made the mechanics more transparent. I had two riots before I worked out what would most rile the crowd.
Anyway, I loved it. Great work!
Very nice indeed. I loved the whole idea of bouncing around the galaxy jumping from planet to planet - such a cool premise. The shooting was well-handled too - combat felt appropriately twitchy and fun. Great stuff!
Nice work. I couldn't do both at the same time but managed when I switched between the two. Cute graphics and story made for an enjoyable experience.
A very cute and creative concept with fitting art and sound. The minigames are a lot of fun and provide some nice variety. Good work!
(By the way, it's great to see a father and daughter entering the jam together! I hope to do the same with my son one day.)
Great mechanics and lovely art style. With a bit of story, some sound and a final battle this would make an excellent full game. Very enjoyable!
The first two games I scrabbled around desperately before giving in and drinking. On the third game, having realised the extent of my options, I closed the window on the game while my character was enjoying himself. That way I can imagine he's still there, hunched over happily for eternity...
Nice concept, great music and very strong atmosphere. I especially loved the personality you managed to inject into the scribe with those little animations.
Great concept, excellent use of theme and a very strong mood. I really like this.
Perfect use of theme, excellent intelligent gameplay. Loved it!
The audio is so at odds with the dating show vibe that it gives the whole thing a weird otherworldly feel which is really nice. Quirky, funny and nicely stylised, I checked all three endings and would love to see this expanded.
Great concept and enjoyable - if slightly limited - combat. The art and audio worked really nicely too. Good work.
Mmm... That tasted good! They won't mess with my salad again.
Fun, surprising, playful, beautiful. Everything here worked perfectly. A great game.
Nice clean presentation and a smart concept. I didn't find the instructions as unclear as some others seemed to and got the hang of it pretty quickly. I do think some sort of effect to show when a target planet is connected to the right colour would be good, however.
Unfortunately, my game crashed every time I completed a level which is how I knew I'd got it right each time!
Wow. What a beautiful game. The first one this LD to make me stop and sit back from my keyboard. A genuinely moving and poetic story. Beautiful art and music. I'm so glad I played.
I don't really agree with most of the other comments. I thought this game worked beautifully and it's one of my favourite experiences of this LD so far.
The little sudoku puzzles were pretty self-explanatory and worked very well to give the game some structure. They were relatively easy to solve but not so easy that they didn't require a bit of thought - perfectly balanced to drive the game along without becoming frustrating.
The incentive for playing them, of course was the story. This was handled beautifully - mysterious and oddly touching. I only wish I'd had a bit more closure at the end. I finished all the totems but the last message left me expecting more. Did I miss something?
Visuals and music are great. Together with the day/night cycle they create real ambience.
Altogether, a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Thanks!
I won't rate this yet because the jam isn't over so it might still be a work in progress. For me, it seems to have a game-breaking bug - every time I enter the nursing home, my character instantly walks off screen to the left and appears back in his room.
Loving the look and premise so I hope I get to play this later.
A very enjoyable and thought-provoking experience. Atmospheric and tightly written. I'm going back to try some different options now... (I couldn't bear to delete so I integrated, by the way - it was a really challenging and interesting decision to make.)
Really lovely relaxing piece of work. The shuffling of resources is in itself a pleasant task and the discovery of new musical elements with each planet is just beautiful. Reminds me of all the links that used to be made in the 18th century between music and astronomy - harmony, the 'music of the spheres' etc. Anyway, great work.
Frustrating but in a good way - I kept going back for one more try. I actually quite like the screenshake and everything else worked beautifully. Great visuals, sounds (although yes, a backing track would be awesome), gameplay and mood. Excellent!
Ultra Deathstorm is about as awesome as a title can get! :)
Really cool nostalgic feel to this - story, art, sound, the lot. Plus it was a heap of fun to play. Good work!
Very nice little game with an intriguing story and strong atmosphere. My only suggestions would be to increase the walk speed a little and allow players to pick things up straight after they've looked at them (the icons would disappear for me after I'd investigated something and I'd have to walk away then back again to interact with it).
Good work!
Haha - great idea! I can't say it would be my favourite way to read a book though. ;)
The visuals and sounds make things feel appropriately panicky and I had a lot of fun playing. Thanks!
Very creative and intuitive control scheme. This could be expanded into a full game with a bit more story, obstacles etc. It's really fun as it is and there's something strangely beautiful about seeing a host of little naked dudes caught up between the moon and the sea - Calvino would have approved. :)
Beautiful! You have a knack for taking a simple idea and tightening it to perfection (my LD entry this year actually took a lot of inspiration from 'Coin Rush').
My only criticism is that I wanted more (it does end at the pier, right?) but that's not really much of a criticism...
Art, sound, gameplay - all top-notch! A very atmospheric and enjoyable experience.
Nice work. Lovely clean look and a simple but satisfying mechanic in the service of a strong message. I really liked it.
Pure play, I loved it. My favourite land was carpet land, I think. Wallpaper land was also hugely therapeutic (especially because that was one of my little worlds too but I always got told off for it). And in art land I surprised and slightly troubled myself by making a man do something sexy to a dinosaur.
Altogether, great stuff. Nostalgic and nice.
I agree with some of the other comments saying it could do with a little more variety and skill in the actual fights, and I also would have liked to be able to hold down a key to move rather than tapping, but otherwise I really enjoyed this. The retro feel is nice and the premise is interesting and fun.
Very nice, polished entry with fun puzzles. The 'wind-up' launching mechanic was fun too.
Only (very small ) bug I spotted was on level 4 - the list of resources held covers up the resources needed on one of the planets. Didn't really affect anything though as I could guess what must be there.
Altogether, a very enjoyable game!
I like nostalgia, I like bacon, I like alien abductions (so long as I'm not the abductee). In short, I liked this. A really cute, fun concept, nicely realised. Good stuff!
Really nicely planned puzzles and a lovely, mysterious mood. The challenge and the story were pitched just right to keep me playing. Good work!
Gets easier once the Americans wake up and come online! ;)
I still couldn't complete it though. Had a nice matador tactic going but once I got trapped against a wall it was all over. Got down to around 600 one time...
Very crafty idea nicely executed. The art style is lovely and clean. A few sounds would have gone a long way. Good work!
I like Stargate and I like X-Com so I am just about your target audience! All the ingredients are here for a very enjoyable turn-based game - stats, upgrades, tech, varied soldier and opponent types, random levels etc. I really enjoyed the missions I played (the little Jaffa and Goauld sprites are very cute, by the way!). The only thing needed now is polish - a few sounds in particular would have gone a long way.
Loads of fun with a Flappy Bird style addiction factor. I loved the music and the little comments after you get caught. I played it for a long time but won't say my top score because it's embarrassing! :D
An excellent, polished entry.
Arrgh! I've always been terrible at lander games. Personal shortcomings aside, this was a lot of fun. I love the clean look and the music is awesome. A very stylish and polished entry, just as I knew it would be (I still have fond memories of Time Flies).
Seemed to have some slight collision detection problems when jumping from moving objects? It's testament to how good this game is, however, that I persisted to the end despite that. Great writing, sound, visual design and atmosphere. I'd like to see what happens next!
Very nicely put-together game! I love the style and the difficulty level was spot on. I hope you keep working on this.
Great job, really took me back to the Good Ole Days of playing Monkey Island on my Amiga. You even included that neat 'now use the same retorts in a different context' trick.
Graphics, audio and gameplay all complement each other very nicely and I enjoyed this a lot.
This is really polished. The bow mechanics are very satisfying and I love the whole style. One of my favourites so far for sure!
Beautifully made and very thought-provoking. I'm usually wary of any art made to carry a message but here it's done so earnestly that I'll forgive you for manipulating my emotions!
And it is very clever manipulation of a sort that only a game could deliver. The simple act of selecting traits made me think a little more, invest a little more in the characters than I would have done had they been presented to me without any choice. The ending was far more poignant because of this.
The graphics are lovely and the music acts as a gentle counterpoint to the stark ending. Great work all round.
Took me a few moments to get used to the controls but I had a lot of fun with this when I did. My favourite jam game so far. Loved the different animals (llamas!) and the gameplay was nicely balanced. Great presentation too.
By the way, the title of the game and the 'IW' in your name were enough to pique my interest... Really good to see some other caulkheads in gamedev! :)
Darkly satisfying and beautifully made. Loved it!
Can I kick it? Yes I can! This was a lot of fun. Love the old school feel and the music sits well with the action. The kicking mechanic is simple but really satisfying and once I worked out how to head the ball I became pretty skilled at it. Nice work!
Nice gameplay mechanic which could easily be expanded on in a full game. Lovely smooth controls and visuals too. It's a shame you didn't get to add sounds as I think a few effects would have gone a long way. Good work!
I always like your games and this could be one of my favourites. I really hope you keep working on it - I do want to know what happens next! Fritz is a character deserving further development...
Anyway, great art, music and mood. The spinning targets on the ghosts were fun too.
I really enjoyed my time with this. The writing, visuals are audio are first-rate and the gameplay has heaps of potential too. The only thing which let it down a little was the lack of feedback, both visual and audio, during the fights. I'm sure that would have been next on the list had you a little more time.
Anyway, a very funny and clever story wrapped around a polished game. Great work!
Lovely presentation and style. The puzzles were pitched nicely - just hard enough to make me think but not too frustrating. I really enjoyed playing.
Excellent idea and the whole game has a really neat mood. I was dreadful at it though... :)
Aaah! my head hurts! :)
A really, great, mind-scrambling idea. I got pretty good at it with practice. For me, the best technique was to keep them both flying clockwise.
Very enjoyable!
Lovely game with a perfectly pitched difficulty curve, beautiful visuals and smooth controls. I really enjoyed playing this.
Well I got Poland off the screen and it never came back. Now I feel kind of bad...
A very neat and funny little postcard!
Neat mechanic, seems simple to start with but there is actually a good deal of strategic depth here once you begin to figure out the best ways to maximise your spell use.
I played for much longer than I'd intended to. Great work!
A nice idea with interesting, thoughtful gameplay. I enjoyed playing, even if I did get beaten repeatedly by a child... :)
Took me a while to figure out exactly how the game mechanics were working. That's more my problem than yours however! And the neat text descriptions made it all worthwhile.
Nice control system, graphics, audio, learning curve and animations. Also, acrobatic pooping! Nothing to fault here. :)
You hit the mood of the three influences you cite exactly. And add some badassery of your own! The story is darkly funny and I'd love to see more of the character.
Graphics and sound are just amazing for 48 hours, gameplay is great. One of my favourites so far for sure!
A neat idea, nicely executed. The puzzle difficulty and learning curve was spot on. The tutorial text was really well presented and in later levels had a touch of portal about it. :)
With a little more polish (and less annoying music!), this could be made into a really satisfying full game.
Nice ideas and gameplay - these would work really well as part of a bigger, Warioware style game. Sound, graphics and presentation were excellent too. I was really bad at playing them but I had a blast!
Boom! Took a few goes but I destroyed the enemy empire. I would have liked to have found out what the 'unconventional weapon' was...
This is a really fun little game and it has an addictive balance of gameplay. With polish and extra enemy/tower types, this could be shaped into a very nice full game.
Fantastic work! Great controls and an awesome central mechanic. The difficulty is hard but never unfair - the player always knows it is their fault if they fail. It's also very satisfying to make progress.
The presentation is very solid too. An excellent entry!
Here's the winner for me - I loved everything about this! Ingenious, playful and beautifully made. I've given a rare set of full marks.
Very well-written and funny! I loved the little epilogues and found myself nodding along sagely with the skull crusher... Word indeed.
Excellent graphics and audio too. Awesome work all round!
A really neat mechanic - reminded me of the thingies that what's-his-name had in Guardians of the Galaxy (if you've seen the film, you'll know what I mean!). With a little polish, I think it would work really well as a combat mechanic in a full game.
The presentation was understandably rough around the edges but I do hope you'll keep working on this. The gameplay has real promise.
Well that is an impressive bout of flatulence! I'm not a trained doctor but I would advise her to look carefully at her diet.
A really fun game with great graphics, sound and mood. Highlights for me included the little remarks which float off the visitors and the central painting which reminded me of something I can't quite put my finger on...
A really simple idea which works very well. Once I got the hang of it, I kept coming back for another go.
Wow, there's a lot of content in this. The story is presented really well and the controls, although slightly fiddly at first, are really intuitive when you get used to them. A very impressive entry!
Amazing game, possibly even my favourite so far! Everything about this works beautifully and the level design is just outstanding. Top marks!
The controls could do with a little tweaking but this is a really fun game and you've hit the Ultima feel just right.
I made it to 1200 points which I think is pretty poor... :)
Great idea and I liked the need to seek answers outside the game (those who don't have a Bible can surely use the internet). It's a really interesting and thought-provoking approach.
I agree with some of the other players that it would have been nice to click on the links rather than type but that's a minor quibble.
Lovely moody gothic visuals and sound. The gameplay took a bit of figuring out but was all the more satisfying for that. Great fun!
A very nice little game. Loved the sly take on its source material. :)
Controls and visuals worked well and the audio , though simple, was very effective. I enjoyed the final questions too!
Very polished with great graphics, audio and controls. I enjoyed every moment and the gibs were so beautiful that I didn't mind losing! One of my top games so far.
Excellent moody visuals and audio. The gameplay has the desired effect of making you feel really vulnerable and panicked. Good work!
Okay, that was great! Put a big smile on my face that even the ending couldn't wipe off. Great mood and style, a really enjoyable experience!
Great use of the theme, nice presentation and well-judged difficulty. This was a lot of fun (although maybe not for the pigeons...).
Justin Bieber better watch out for that crocodile...
I has a lot of fun with this. Thanks!
That knight is so mean! Except at the end when he wasn't. I enjoyed this a lot - lovely visuals and audio and some very funny writing. Great work!
Took me a while to get used to the controls but once I did I was flinging banana like an old hand. Fun!
Fantastic atmosphere, audio and visuals. I never knew I'd enjoy stapling giant tongues to the ground until today! It's great to learn new things about yourself...
There is a lot of talent on display here. One of my favourite games so far.
My favourite entry so far by a country mile. Loved the art style and the puzzles were beautifully planned and really addictive. I couldn't stop playing until I'd completed it. Thanks for making such an enjoyable game!
I love word puzzles and hadn't seen a mechanic like this before. Really good, clever fun!
Fantastic! Can't really fault anything about this - I had a blast.
I'd never been asked to touch another man's pooby before so I wasn't sure if I'd like it or not. I'm happy to report, however, that I loved every minute of it! I should listen to my heart and my ass more often.
I thought this game might just be a quirky novelty but it was a genuinely fun experience with an excellent atmosphere all of its own. Thanks for making it!
I pwned this game! Took me a few tries but I enjoyed it all the way through. Not sure why so many people are finding it quite so difficult. Graphics are nice and the puzzles are pitched at just the right difficulty.
I went for a Cupid as the hero of my game too but I must say that yours is way a good deal more badass!
I saved the world! Neat.
Fantastic idea and nice smooth controls. I got the hang of it pretty quickly and had a lot of fun. Good work!
Very nice! Once I got used to the controls I found them to be very intuitive and effective. The presentation was great and the whole game feels really polished. Good work!
I scored 46 before my fingers started freaking out. Contrary to how that might sound, I really enjoyed myself! Fantastic goofy gameplay, visuals and audio combine to make a fun game with a great mood. Thanks!
Lovely style and control system. A bit of audio would have really made it.
Fun, funny and kind of relaxing to play. Thanks!
Kittens are such badasses! This was a lot of fun to play.
Lovely aesthetic and a really neat concept.
I'd have liked some little bit of feedback when touching a character with a gift to make it clear that the act of giving was what moved the scene on as I didn't realise this at first.
Thoughtful and idiosyncratic - I like!
Neat premise and style. Would have really benefited from a few sound effects and an increasing difficulty level but I had fun playing. Good work!
Wonderful concept, I'd love to see it expanded into a full game (maybe some sort of goofy paparazzi sim!).
Graphics, sound and controls are all great. The style is frankly magnificent!
I won! Took me a while to get the knack of using the freeze ray to slow myself down but I got pretty expert with it in the end. A really nice idea with a fun mood and slick controls.
Very innovative mechanic and lovely mood. An impressive amount of content for the time limit. Great work!
Loved the way they sat patiently with their hats in their hands under the shadow - almost made me feel guilty! I thought this was beautifully presented with outstanding visuals. The gameplay itself could have used a little more conflict or variety to really keep me engaged. A very impressive and enjoyable effort nonetheless.
A pretty accurate portrait of my working life so far, only I've yet to earn a crab hat...
Great sound effects and visuals. Awesome, goofy gameplay. A really funny and entertaining experience (together with an unexpected existentialist twist at the end!) - top marks from me.
I have awoken! As well as being a lot of fun to play, this game is a valuable and timely exposé of the reptilian overlords who control our destinies. Your mom is a very wise lady.
Haha! This was a lot of good, clean, goofy fun! My own entry could almost be a companion piece to this - it shares the pursuing 'shadow' and has a similarly hapless protagonist.
Anyway, I enjoyed it a lot even if there is no chance whatsoever of me winning the Megaprize... Great graphics, sound, controls and mood.
Great, now I have to get a priest in to exorcise my computer! Be aware that I will be sending you the bill...
Aside from the inconvenience of having my hard drive possessed, I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Fantastic visuals, sound and atmosphere. Neat control scheme. Awesome twist. Hail!
Lovely mechanic - once you get to grips with it, it feels really intuitive and satisfying. I played this for far longer than I'd expected and had a lot of fun. Only one very tiny suggestion - I would have liked the dead bees to look 'deader' somehow. :)
Awesome work - one of my favourites so far!
@abuzreq Yes, the spirit animal is completely random! I like your idea for the last level - I'd been planning something similar to ensure that you couldn't just fly through all of it but I didn't have time to put it in. And that's a good catch about the mystic balls - I forgot to give them any range limit. Thanks!
Man, I've always wanted to go back in time to screw around! Not only did this scratch that itch but it also had fun visuals and sound, a cool gameplay mechanic and an unexpectedly challenging difficulty level. Loved it!
I enjoyed this a lot. The minimalist graphics and the gorgeous audio combined very nicely to build a distinctive mood. I would happily have played a much longer game in this style.
The NPC comments were also handled well - sketching out an intriguing storyline in short, simple strokes, without interfering with the flow of the gameplay.
The story itself seemed a little arbitrary, especially the abrupt ending, but I understand that a gamejam like this constrains what you can do in that regard.
The actual shapeshifting was great - the flying squirrel power was very cool and enjoyable to use. Potential to build some great puzzles around abilities like this, especially if a few more forms were added.
Altogether, a really accomplished entry with heaps of potential. I really hope you expand this into something fuller - I'd genuinely love to play it.
Fun in a relaxed sort of way, I got sucked into this really quickly and played until I realised my bust was beyond saving! Great concept and mood. I only wish the sculpture itself could be placed a little further to the left so the guide picture didn't interfere with your view so much (unless I've missed a way of minimising it?).
Thanks for 10 minutes of contemplative fun! Very enjoyable.
Awesome game! One of the best entries I've played for sheer, addictive fun! My only suggestion would be to use a different colour for the enemies or bullets as it can get a bit confusing at higher levels because they look (to me at least) a little too similar.
Otherwise, high marks all round - great visuals and audio, fantastic concept and polished gameplay. Good job!
Great little game. Simple concept but heaps of fun to play (my top score was pushing 2500, by the way). The animations are especially nice - really distinctive and full of character. Good work!
My favourite game of this LD so far! Hugely polished and heaps of fun to play. The dual mechanics worked well and complemented each other nicely. The sound effects, art and music were spot on. The whole thing just felt right! :)
I hope you continue to develop this - I can see it making a very successful mobile game.
Only one tiny quibble - I hit the same bug as some of the other players and found the screen wouldn't scroll up when it was supposed to (I was using Firefox).
Nice! I always like your stuff and this was no exception. Great aesthetic design and simple but enjoyable gameplay. I still got the moves. :)
Fantastic mood and an intriguing story, beautifully told. I'm just frustrated that I couldn't complete it (I think) - I got stuck after I found the 'figure' (trying to give no spoilers here!) and couldn't work out how to proceed.
Anyway, high marks all round. This is really good work.
Lovely! Hugely polished with beautiful, intuitive controls. I can't really fault this one!
Excellent take on the theme and a really cool mechanic. The set-ups were very clever and I guessed all of the animals correctly except for the spider. I did have trouble figuring out which animal was best for killing them in one or two of the rounds though.
Altogether a really smart and enjoyable game!
The look and feel of this is incredible! Fantastic concept and great atmosphere. I did feel the actual gameplay could have done with something extra to keep me engaged past a couple of rounds but I really enjoyed playing nonetheless. Great work!
Solid concept and mood. Could have used some sort of twist to make it more than just a speed challenge but I did enjoy playing. The graphics actually felt really nice to me - I liked the colour scheme especially. Good work!
Those cats genuinely freaked me out a couple of times! Great presentation and interesting gameplay. The driving controls seemed slightly odd (turning at low speeds causes the car to stop?) but once I got the hang of it I did pretty well. Good work!
Pure fun indeed! I played all 3 levels and had a blast. Nice art, sound and gameplay, very satisfying experience. My favourite object to use was the fan, I think. :)
Awesome game - the innovative visuals and mechanics work so well together and the music also helps to build the mood. Sometimes the jumping seemed a little unresponsive but that's the only (very small) quibble I have with this. Top marks from me!
Haha, awesome sound effects. :) There's a lot of charm here, despite the fact that the rectangular shield is possibly the worst invention ever! I had a lot of fun playing and I'm impressed by the variety you managed to squeeze in. Good work!
That's me ready for the summer! I had a lot of fun with this - it's a great concept with sharp execution. Graphics are nice and the audio is superb!
Can I beat a score of 15? Well I got 9. So no. :)
Wow! Really good, solid fun. Perfectly balanced and genuinely addictive. Loved it.
Loved the rant at the beginning! The 'Stop Smiling!' line made me laugh aloud. :)
Neat mechanics and gorgeous visuals/sound. Tricky gameplay too, without being too tough. Nice work!
I won! Could have used a little more challenge but I enjoyed playing all the same. Gentle and entertaining. Also, I fulfilled a secret personal desire to be a beaver!
If I'd known being a barber was this much fun, I'd have quit my job years ago!
Can't really fault any aspect of this game. I had a blast and picked up some styling tips along the way. :)
The shapeshifting mechanic isn't just bolted on but really does make for a neat twist which alters the gameplay. I played this for way longer than expected and really enjoyed it. Nice presentation too. Good work!
I love this! It does indeed seem pretty esoteric at first but as you get used to the rules it becomes really very satisfying to play. I'd love to see it expanded with a mode in which you fight against another wizard by changing your animal accordingly (but I do of course understand that time was a bit limited for this - you've done a lot of work here as it is!).
A very cool concept which really works. One of my favourites so far!
Okay that was fun! Simple, sweet mechanics and a lovely crunchy feel. Very enjoyable!
A neat little concept, presented in a very clean and polished way. I felt it needed some further twist to the gameplay to keep me engaged past a couple of tries, but it was a fun and strangely calming experience. :)
I have to admit that I have no idea what the reference other players have mentioned is, but I certainly enjoyed this a lot! Great art style, awesome gameplay, fantastic overall mood and feel. My favourite entry so far!
Really enjoyable - great mood and a simple but sweet concept. The difficulty curve of the puzzles was pitched just right. You could make a nice full game from this basis. Good work!
Fun and surprisingly strategic! You have to think about when to shoot just to delay enemies and when to move in with the net. Graphics and sound were nice and functional although a few animations would have gone a long way. Gameplay was tight!
I got the job! I'm glad I played for a second time and realised that you had a bank of questions rather than just one set. This was a really fun little experience - would be perfect with some more challenging difficulty levels. Great music too.
Great visuals, sound and general mood. An interesting mechanic too. I would have liked a much wider variety of clues (and more emphasis on using them to guess the right shape) but I really enjoyed playing. Thanks!
Sometimes the simplest concepts can be the best! This was lots of fun - Smooth mechanics with a satisfying difficulty curve. Nice work! (Score: 250 twice!)
Ha! I've always thought ice hockey could use a few more bears. :)
This was fun to play with potential for some interesting gameplay if all the shapeshift classes were implemented. The controls weren't immediately intuitive but I did get used to them.
I'm not quite sure how the bear helped me. Less vulnerable to being challenged?
Anyway, a fun and creative entry!
I'm too embarrassed to post my high score but let's just say I barely hit double figures. :)
This is a smart, fun little game with a nice take on the theme. I really enjoyed playing!
I can't fault this. I didn't know I wanted a game about sumo shapes until just now. Couldn't get four players but had a blast with three. Great graphics, perfect voice-overs (the sheer vitality and energy in your gruntwork is outstanding!) and slick gameplay.
Roger is my favourite.
Once I figured out exactly what to do, I loved this. The music and visuals work exceedingly well together to make a really distinctive mood. Excellent!
Excellent concept - I really can't wait for the post-comp version as I think there is a huge amount of potential here!
Sweet graphics, audio and controls. A really polished and fun entry!
Very neat, especially for your first game! The puzzles were well thought out with a nice difficulty curve. Even one or two sound effects would have gone a long way but it was very enjoyable nonetheless.
Haha that was fun! Love the very serious expression my little Sun Wukong has throughout. :)
The controls are really awkward but sometimes that's quite fun in itself, in an Octodaddy sort of way.
Altogether a very entertaining entry. Needs a little polish but has lots of charm.
Really solid mood and concept. The controls felt a little floaty and a few more animations would have gone a long way (even some simple up/down on the legs for walking) but I felt there was a lot of potential here. Some respawn points would be nice though!
Altogether a really nice and atmospheric little platformer. :)
Put me in mind of the great Spy Hunter right away. Thanks for the nostalgia trip!
Smooth and engaging gameplay although I did find myself wishing I could see a little more of the road ahead. Solid sound and visuals.
Nice! I didn't know maggots were so cute or so aggressive. :) Lovely atmosphere, great presentation and slick gameplay. Good work!
Fun! I never did like gnomes anyway. :)
Really clever mechanic, smooth controls and lots of polish for the time limit. Good work!
Really enjoyed this. Nicely thought out puzzles with a neat mechanic. Beautiful visuals, music and mood too. I had a couple of problems with characters getting stuck against walls or in corners - I had to quit the first level at one point because I walked behind the girl as a cat and couldn't get out again - but nothing which really spoiled my enjoyment.
Great work!
Zeus was such a kinky old goat, wasn't he? I love the premise of this game even though I wasn't very effective at keeping him out of my marital arrangements... I did figure it out eventually though.
Art is functional (I'd be a hypocrite to criticise!) but with some very nice little touches. The sound effects were great!
Overall, a very fun and entertaining little game with heaps of character and humour. Good work!
Fun! I spent way longer on this than I'd intended to. The only extra thing I would have liked is some little 'ghost' of my previous shot strength and angle to help guide me, a little like in Angry Birds. Great work, though!
I was terrible at this but I enjoyed it all the same! The way the tangram reshuffles itself is really cool. Lovely presentation too, right down to the evil laugh when you lose! Great work.
Dare accepted and promptly failed! This is one of those games, however, in which failure accounts for a lot of the fun. :)
Great idea, charmingly executed. The choice of music was perfect.
It seems there's only one map of three available? I enjoyed it a lot though, very satisfying mechanics and good atmosphere. Potential for a much bigger game here.
That was fantastic! What a great idea for a game, so many clever mechanics and possibilities in there. I'd truly love to see this fleshed out into a full game. :)
I just wrote in my previous review that I'd found my favourite game so far but now I need to update that! I loved everything about this - art, music, atmosphere and gameplay. Definitely 5 stars from me.
Excellent game, by far one of my favourite entries. The gameplay is paced and balanced beautifully and the style is superb. I played for a long time and loved every moment!
Fun and challenging - I couldn't get through it on the higher difficulty levels so I dropped to easy to experience everything. The different mechanics were clever and required a good range of skills.
A little more feedback when you hit and get hit would have gone a long way.
Altogether, a fun and engaging little romp!
Shooting inside a room is indeed very dangerous. I like a game with a responsible message!
I had a lot of fun playing this. The gunplay is really very satisfying and I liked the way the weapons ramped up. The goofy sound and visuals add to the experience. Great work!
Looks and feels really nice. I can't pretend to have been much good at it but I enjoyed myself a lot!
A cool premise and a nice take on the theme. Multiple she-wolves! This is the part of the story we rarely get to hear...
Gameplay was fun and frantic although, as others have said, I would really have appreciated the ability to shoot while moving. After a few attempts, I made it to Wave 3 (just).
Altogether a very nice little game!
Took a while to get used to exactly how to operate the ship (especially given the delays) but once I did this was a lot of fun. Very nice use of the theme too!
Whew! That was tense and fun. I only just managed to beat 30 seconds but I had heaps of tries. Very addictive once you begin to understand the mechanics.
A very good amount of content here, given the time frame, with hotzones, pickups and different stats all adding to the fun. Lots of quirky enemy types too, good stuff. I would have appreciated more feedback when you hit and get hit but that's a minor gripe really. Good work!
Really fun with a neat little mechanic. #345 was my best and I think I'm unlikely to top that in this compo! The addition of a hygiene was a nice touch. :)
Neat mechanic - a very nice base upon which you could build a full game by adding some variety to the combat, locations and enemies. I really enjoyed playing and beat all three levels.
Nice little panic game. I liked the visuals, chilled soundtrack and general concept. The plunger animation was especially nice. :)
Unfortunately there still seem to be quite a few bugs. I found my character hopping about the screen a bit on certain animations until he finally got stuck at the left-hand side and I couldn't get him back. Great fun while it lasted though!
Great concept and a clever mechanic! Visuals and audio were very solid too. A really nice game!
I won't rate this for now as it doesn't seem to work properly for me but hopefully I'll come back and do so later if it gets fixed. I seem to have the same problem as the other commenter - the cat jumps the wall towards the dancers and is teleported to another area from where it can do nothing but return to the first room.
Really hope I get the chance to play properly - visuals, music and mood are excellent.
Nicely chosen objects/descriptions and good pacing make for an especially poignant ending. There seemed to be a few slight bugs in the object selection but the gorgeous aesthetics more than made up for them. Loved it!
19,251!!! My favourite so far this jam, I think. Loved the mechanics, the visuals, the audio, the premise. The whole thing was very polished and very enjoyable to play. Thanks!
Can't fault anything about this! Perfect mood and excellent, innovative gameplay. I expect to be playing this on my tablet sometime in 2017. :)
Good control system and nice, varied mechanics. Loved the intro too! It took me a while to get the hang of it but I had fun when I did!
You know I'm predisposed to like your games but this may be my favourite yet, in concept at least. I really hope you expand on it in the future - the idea is so cool and (as is not often the case with cool ideas...) it really works in terms of gameplay too! Story, visuals, sound, all spot on. Top Marks!
(I couldn't complete it, by the way, but will definitely be returning to it later.)
Loved it! A really nicely thought-out puzzle - I couldn't leave until I'd completed it and found the poignant secret letter too (had been wondering what that was in the bottom right...). Great work!
Lovely art and mood, also a great take on the theme. I wasn't bothered by the lack of things to do and I was kept interested trying to figure out the rules which governed their interactions. A great entry - very polished and enjoyable!
Like some of the other commenters, I would have appreciated a gamepad option but apart from that this is awesome! The amount of polish throughout is very impressive - great graphics, audio and general design. The gameplay itself is satisfyingly crunchy and the difficulty curve is spot on. I played for a long time and enjoyed every moment. Thanks!
I seem to have lost all feeling in my left hand! That was a very hectic experience but a lot of fun too. I like the mechanic and the clean visual style. Good work!
Simple and sweet. Neat mechanics and an enjoyable style. I liked it!
I'm not usually bothered by spiders but this did make my skin crawl a little... I assume that's what you intended so well done! It got genuinely tense as the spiders started reaching the bed.
Overall a great entry - look and sound are atmospheric, shooting mechanic is nicely balanced. Well done!
Gorgeous visuals and sound. The environment had a genuinely vertiginous feel to it and the jumping controls were just right.
I'm afraid I didn't mange to complete it but I did watch the vid!
Excellent work. :)
A lovely idea, beautifully executed. Even the simplest sounds would have gone a long way, I think, but the gorgeous visuals made up for that.
Nice idea and good use of the theme. There's a surprising amount of content here but I felt it needed a few more random events (preferably with options for handling them, like the TV repair one) to add more of a skill element to the gameplay.
Still, a fun experience with nice visuals. Good work!
I consider myself to be pretty fancy but this fish takes it to a whole nother level! Beautiful visuals and audio. A surprisingly relaxing experience considering I was getting flushed down a s*****r every few seconds.
At a slower pace, I would have something like this sitting in a little permanent window in the corner of my desktop...
Loved it!
Very tricky game but it's amazing how the promise of a pixelated sex scene will keep me playing... Music had a nice bouncy charm and the gameplay was just the right amount of frustrating.
Really fun! Played for way longer than I'd intended and got to level 15 or so. My only gripe is that the ability upgrades didn't seem to do much?
Fantastic balance and quite a lot of strategic depth once you get the hang of it. Great work!
Excellent writing, subtle and precise with little flashes of humour and poignancy. A very enjoyable experience and a great take on the theme.
Nothing to fault here other than to ask if it would have killed you to put a few little elevator 'dings' in there. :D
Great audio and visual design, nicely atmospheric! I think I perhaps got as far as was possible but I'm not sure - I turned the computer on but couldn't figure out the password. It certainly has potential and I'd be interested to play the full game if and when you finish it.
Gorgeous visuals and mood - by far the best atmosphere I've encountered so far. There's also something very satisfying about the monster-zapping and the light sources dispelling the dark nightmares was a nice touch. Good use of the theme too. The only disappointment was that it seemed to just freeze at the end. Anyway, great work!
Cute and creative! Not sure why some players would find this inappropriate or disturbing. When I read those views I prepared myself to encounter some sort of strong statement on abortion or infant mortality but instead I find a gentle rumination on one of the most natural processes in the world. Good work!
Awesome visuals and animations. A really clever use of the theme too. Gameplay is tight and satisfying, some of the jumping puzzles were especially neat. Great work!
Great use of the theme, unusual and highly entertaining gameplay, fantastic atmosphere.
On my first go I didn't notice the floating box over the computer and just looked at it directly while spamming keys and trying to figure out why the vids kept changing. Needless to say, I freaked out a little when the door opened!
On my second go, I got the hang of it and completed the game. I even managed to do it without resorting to the internet. :)
Okay, I was terrible at this! I kept forgetting which key was which colour and getting confused between the next ball colour and the colour of my gun etc. There's quite a lot to take in and I don't do well under pressure!
However, that's all my problem, not yours. :) I did have fun playing and I really admired the concept, the controls and the style. Great work!
Ha! That is one sprightly butler! Loved the gameplay and atmosphere of this - very amusing and enjoyable. Soundtrack was spot-on too!
