That's a lot of work!
Ahah, very funny!
Nice game, but when you got the jetpack, the levels become very easy to beat.
I finished it and it's actually great! I love the graphics and the physics of the game.
The gameplay is interesting and kinda innovative!
I like the camera effects, and i like the scary music too!
Thank you very much for the feedback!
Did anyone make it to 100%? :)
Hvedrung: in this world, the grass is the most solid element! You need the legendary gold sword named 'Excalibush' to cut through it!
Baburo, kaidoe: that's a problem, it can be really boring to start all over again... I might add an Easy mode, with infinite Gems generators.
Thank you very much guys for all the feeback! :D
First, I'd like to say criticism is not a problem, as long as it's done in a constructive way(and it actually is!). Indeed, it helps me a lot to improve the game, and I can see a bunch of great ideas around here, thank you for that :)
Reading all your comments, I see 3 or 4 important points to work on.
- The collisions and the whole "stuck in the trees" thing is a real pain. It needs smoother collisions and less restrictive hit boxes. I think it's one of the biggest issue in this game.
- A second one is the savestates problem. Why? Because they simply do not exist :p I tried to program the gameplay mechanic in a hardcore way, so it's done on purpose, but I understand the frustation. I plan to add a saving system, or find a way to generate unlimited gems (enemy generator, fountains, hit the trees, ...). It'll certainly be more pleasant to play.
- About the stuck gems problem... It is actually a mental torture, but it didn't do it on purpose, just a lack of time. Actually, I already expanded the EvoGems hitboxes' size 3 times. But it evidently wasn't enough. I might implement a sort of vacuum cleaner to suck them up :)
- Including a Jump behavior can be interesting. But the mapping has to be modified accordingly. That's definitly a possible future improvement.
Some of you guys think of Minesweeper playing the game. It has never occured to me before, but it's true! It's like a 3D Minesweeper, but without the mines. Adding negative effects by evolving a certain kind of cube can be a cool feature...
And finally, some of you ask for the Source Code (and it's legitimate as I HAVE to provide it :p), and it's coming very soon.
Thanks for playing, and don't hesitate to give me more feeback or ideas of improvements!
(I apologize for my english, as it's not my native language)
New screenshot added: the MAP! (PLEASE don't use if you play the game for the first time!)
Doft: Actually, the game IS 100% finishable. But you have to find the second sword to do so :)
And the zoom is already there... but you need the 100% completion :p
I like the art and the ambience!
However, my monkey friend keep killing itself at the begenning..
Actually, i played the game with Chrome, the monkey still died :)
That's fun, we need more!
What does the 10.000.000 research unlock? :)
I like the environment, reminds me 'The Ball'.
Sometimes, a ball just go through the floor, because of the high speed. Then, I'm stuck in the game. It's a known issue in the physics of Unity, you should try to make your walls a little thicker, or add additional walls.
Very cool game! I liked the shaking effect :)
Same thing here, a crash after one minute of play, but no error :/
A little hard :)
I like the graphics and the logo of the game.
I also like how stupid the final Boss is, and does not deserve his place in the evolution chain.
I love how the game goes in reverse, Hard, then Medium, then Easy. And the graphics are nice!
I love the graphics! Reminds me 'Another world'(Out of this world).
PS: Another game named 'Unnatural Selection' :D
The graphics are simple but i like them, and the idea is good!
I found a bug: when you acquire the Woodcutter, the amount of food(30) is not deducted.
I found a bug: when you acquire the Woodcutter, the required amount of food(30) is not deducted.
Oups, sorry for the double post! (Triple now :D)
I loved it! Great room escape.
However, I found a bug: holding an object while looking at the floor make your character fly!
Ahah, I love the ending :D
The graphics are great too, and i love the jumping behavior.
However, the blue dashing effect is not appropriate according to me.
Nice entry!
Good idea!
Very relaxing, I like the music and the mood!
I like the aiming feel of the game.
But for some reason, the game is very laggy, not matter what browser you use.
Nice gameplay :)
Hey, I'm came from the game "Cubevo" :)
Actually, I like your game very much! It reminds me a lot of "Chocobo's Dungeon", and that's a good point for me :)
All the randomized stuff is interesting, and can create tricky situations (for example, when your first enemy is a red dinosaur). I like the strategic aspect.
However, the audio ambient is not so rich and quickly became boring (because of the repeatability of the music and the reduced amount of sound effects).
For 48h, the work is amazing, and i love the look and feel of the provided PDF explaining the basics!
I love the graphics and the game design!
Some points:
- When you press JUMP rapidly in mid air, the character is like hovering. Is this behavior wanted? Its a little disturbing sometimes
- I didn't get the point of evolving back to grey?
- At a certain point, the same level was launched over and over. Did a reach the end of the game?
- According to me, the difficulty is not increasing enough and fast enough. I nearly never died. The game needs some enemies maybe, or obstacles (pikes, ...)?
PS: I went in the water being grey, it happened once. The high falling speed may cause it? (I was jumping from a cliff)
Keep up the good work! :)
Great idea and gameplay!
I did it! My hand hurts...
Ahah, I love the animations and the ragdolls. It was really fun to play :)
Thanks for the feedbacks :)
namuol: Thank you for the warning about the download speed. I added a new link (faster).
About the platforming at the end, just blow up the sticks, it should be easier to jump on the blocs.
xgeovanni: Yes, explosives have to be used with caution :)
Suds: The SSAO effect is Camera post-effect. The shader I used is the basic Unity "Lighted Toon" shader.
Norgg: Yes, the right-click on the web version can be frustating. You can get rid of that if you go fullscreen though.
littleball: Sorry for the wrong files, I was a little tired last night... It's now fixed :)
Thanks for the nice comments :)
PIXEL^3: I tried to play the game on many computers (fast and less fast), and I can't reproduce the lag thing, or the problem with the platforms (at the end, do you destroy the poles with your bombs?). Can you be more specific about the platforming problem you encounter (you are not jumping far enough?), and what version you played (Web or Standalone)?
luke161: I ran some tests on my computer, with and without the post effects and I only earn 2-3 FPS (but my computer is pretty fast, so it could be biased). The true problem here is the HUGE number of rigidbodies, and collisions calculations at one time.
I decreased the FixedUpdate framerate for better performances, that's why the physic bodies seem a little jerky sometimes.
However, I will include some options to activate/deactivate the different camera effects to add some fluidity.
Note: if you try the Standalone version, the framerate should be better, and the AA quality increased.
Thanks for all the comments :)
I hear you about the performance problem, and it will be better in the next versions.
About the princess at the end: you CAN kill her, in several ways!
-The regular way is to launch a dynamite on the second floor, through the window. The tower will then collapse.
- You can use bombs to reach her. Just throw a lot of bombs in the sky, they eventually push each other and reach the princess.
- My favorite method: the Dynamite Jump. Put a dynamite on the floor, and just sit on it. You character will make a super jump, usually higher than the tower, allowing you to go on the roof.
I'll certainly submit a walkthrough video in the next days.
I pusblished a walkthrough video, please take a look! :)

Hilarious! I love the concept. However, the gameplay is a little repetitive.
I encounter the same problem with the web player.
Yay! My best time is 17:81
The idea is excellent and I had fun to play it, but I really think you should display a grid of "walkable" tiles.
I admit, I used the right-click cheat for the last mini-game :/
Nice game though.
Ahah good job nodoxi. You can find the map here though: http://evasionadomicile.re/NostraDamon/Merkaba/Merkaba-Map.pdf
My favorite LD game so far!
FYI, the doctor dialogs are skippable by pressing a number! (1-9 to spawn a character) ;)
Thanks guys.
I know about the source, I'm just taking some time to polish stuff, the Compo is not over yet ;)
Wanna compete on the leaderboards for fastest time? http://bit.ly/1q0h076
Ahah @buckslice, the fact that you reached level 4 without going sideways is blowing my mind. But yeah, an in-game tutorial might be a better solution...
I'm working on uploading a WebGL version right now :)
