How to play?
Excellent spin-off of Snake. Excellent work!
Looking forward for the timelapse!
Terrific game, the only drawback is the losing thing, and not being able to fast-forward chat messages. I think you can do a full escape-adventure game based on this, redefining the point-and-click adventures to chat-adventure.
Very fun! Seems very solid, but it is kinda hard at the beginning and very easy later on. Also, I thought I could escape, but I got 361 score and still didn't escape :P If you plan to make a second version, I'd like to have more weapon types, and local multiplayer. Best entry I played so far, congratulations!
Interesting approach, but I didn't get who was the attackers. I just placed a mine on top of other, because they don't take space. Fixing that, it would make a great game.
Very nice! Simple and fun. But it crashed after "dogs" level.
I can't execute *.jar files, but I can run java-based games and applications. What do I have to download? Maybe make an *.exe?
Brilliant! Very hard though... Maybe make the collision box smaller? Thanks for making this.
Didn't run on Windows 7.
The recipe system totally killed the game for me. I tried several items, and then stick and stone, and it told me that "I have to invent something else first". But the graphics and the gameplay are very interesting.
Thanks for all your feedback!
I played through some floors, but the black and white grid was killing me. It didn't have sufficient chests and the speed of the hero was rather slow. A good idea but not good implemented.
Working on Quest3D for more than 2 years, I can't believe this is done in that engine! Really cool graphics and a short but interesting gameplay. Congrats!
I got the same problem, I couldn't pass the green bumpers. The effect of level construction and deconstruction was awesome, and also was the music.
Cool graphics, and the puzzles were quite difficult but not frustrating. Really liked the atmosphere. Good job!
Interesting gameplay, I really liked the graphics.
I'm a big fan of console games (Nethack, Dwarf Fortress and Liberal Crime Squad), so I was surprised by this entry. A very fun game, reminds me of Uplink, which I spent hours playing on. I got the feeling I was really trying to escape, rushing commands to go as far as I could. But the Purge action is somehow broken, I don't know if that is intended but every time someone purges me from a node, I can't play anymore because it raises an NPC exception.
Good job! I wasted the first bullet, though.
I really liked this game. Although the graphics are kinda crappy and there's no audio, I enjoyed the gameplay based around quick-time event. Reminds me of my past LD entry (http://bit.ly/sqETue). I hope you continue working on this.
Impressive game for 48 hours! I really liked the intro (tough I can't skip it once I retry the game).
The shitty thing was not having pause button. I pressed P and nothing... tried ESC and it quit the game! I had to start all over again.
But overall, a very solid puzzle game, and liked the ending too!
Even tough the game isn't original, I enjoyed the atmosphere you created. I would have made the movement and the attack animation faster.
I liked the game, but would have been better using other format (maybe HTML5?). I was using Chrome and click+drag selects the image, so it was frustrating. Also, some puzzles would have been great additions, it didn't have any difficulty at all.
It reminded me of Sensible Soccer.
Although the concept is good, the implementation needs to be tuned. The game gets really boring, 25 relics are way too much to find, since nothing happens or changes if I have 25 left or 10 left. Maybe less relics or more variety on enemies will fix that. The controls are good, but I think the shoots gets slower over time (maybe is just my imagination). I tried it 3 times, and after having to find only 5 more and died (one-hit), I ragequit.
The effects were really cool.
I can't grab the love cube, and I have the love and anger buttons active. Would be cool to see an ending to this.
I share the above comments... It gets boring over time, puzzles for every day is a must. But overall, cool game, sad thing I died. Is there a way to open the airlocked door?
It's a "meh" game. A really basic platformer, without something innovative. The good thing I saw as the graphics, but that's because I love lo-fi pixel art. Also, I'm intrigued about the story: the guy breaks up with a brunette and starts dating a blonde?
I'm homeless and this offends me.
I made a mediafire link: http://www.mediafire.com/?g5l8loie4ctd6ln.
Still, the game needs to be installed (with InstallShield).
Great story, crappy graphics, cool music. I really liked it! +1 for happy buildings.
Hilarious game. But it gets boring after 2 minutes. The block doesn't work in browser (the context menu keeps opening), but I don't think its required.. I kept smashing left button and won. A high score would have made this a lot nicer.
So, there's only 1 level?
Nice little game... Even tough is not finished. I loved the "pokemon-date" screen!
I cliked bladder but after an animation appeared and the text "You made it in time!", my bladder bar kept full. And the puzzles are way too easy.
Is there a way to win? I kept fixing the transmitter and plating seeds, but I couldn't figure out the way to win the game. Or is it just how long can I survive? What's the point of the transmitter?
The player moves way too fast. I bet you are not limiting the movement by the frames. The potions cant be picked up?
The intro wasn't that long for me (maybe because I read first that it was way too long). I really liked the music! And the jump seems to have a problem with the moving platforms. And an ending would be cool.
Fun game, would have been better with a high score table.
Good, but too short. I made it in 1 minute.
I agree with the collision problem. Besides, what are we upgrading? And why are we running from groupies? I thought we liked groupies.
It was a very good game! I really like RPGs.
Well.. It was cool, but maybe it gets boring if there's no win condition. When my HP dropped to 0, the game closed.
Started great, but as above comments said, it gets boring after the first run.
I agree in the dificulty, maybe it is a little too hard. When running straight, there's no way I can tell if I have a shark behind me. But the atmospheric work is amazing.
Well for me it wasn't that hard, once you figure out that the punch can punch multiple wolves at a time. I did it in the second run. Simple and somewhat fun game, bad thing you have to wait until the timer runs out to win.
No sound for me.. Using Chrome 16.0.912.63 and Win7
Interesting approach to maze games! I didn't completed the whole game, but I liked the abilities feature.
Yep, warmup is there exactly for this kind of problems.
Excellent work. Although I got the bad ending, you made a very good job. The music is the best aspect of the game.
fun game, although the controls are a little clunky, but i liked the mechanics and the ending cutscene. grats!
Great conpcept, but the rooms are huge and we move so slow.. That kinda kills the mood when you have no directions of where to go.
We have the winner of LD23.
Novel idea. I made some wacky designs. It desperately needs a better editor and some logic on levels (triggers, messages, etc). I look forward for the final screen capture :)
Wow it was pretty hard. But a "population" game was what I was looking for. And loved the music/effects/art! Very polished.
Excellent game! Very polished. Although I'm not a big fan of puzzles, this was incredibly solid. Good job.
It was pretty fun, nice looking and all. But it gets boring when you learn that it's repeat every time.
Very well done. (spoiler: I liked the jetpack mode :) http://i.imgur.com/oLpfY.png)
Nice game! I got 107700 final score. I thought there was an ending, though.
What did I just play? It was hilarious, but there's was almost not challenge at all (ctrl+up all day). The best part was the enemies dead animation. Old school.
Poor gameplay, but funny story!
Excellent graphics! Sadly there's no game at all...
Sorry, but I didn't really catch the idea of the "game". Very poor quality, how many time did you take to do this? Try harder next time!
I don't have Could not find MSVCP100D.dll. Why would you release your game in debug mode? Please make a release version.
The speed killed me!!!
Nice one! The hit area was problematic, and I was like 5 minutes with Jim trying to hit things
It was a fun game! The feedback could be better (sound effects, visual effects, etc)
Awesome music, but the gameplay was rather too simple. More like an interactive story than a game.
A bit too hard.
It was very nice. I really like your art direction. The controls seems smooth enough. The "upgrade" part was rather confusing.
It was a nice take on the theme, but the game itself was too buggy. If I press 0 the music mutes, sometimes I win big and have 2000$ but after betting and losing 50$ I end up with 200$ after 2 races. Also, it's the "son" doesn't always show up, making the breeding stage useless.
Impressive, as expected from deepnight. But little to do with the theme, though.
It was fun at first, but then it got a little repetitive. The permadeath didn't help either. Maybe you could have improved some areas instead of adding more.
Nice visuals :) But what's in for evolution beside the title?
Actually it was pretty fun. I have some remarks: First, why you have to "load" the game? Why a message says "GAME LOADED"? No need for that. Second, intro story is too long. The best stories are told via gameplay, not throwing a bunch of text hoping the player will read. Third, the movement feels dumb. It would be better with diagonal and soft movement. After that, there are some other minor remarks, but as I told, it was pretty fun anyway. One last thing is, I don't have A CLUE what does this have to do with EVOLUTION.
The game was slow for being an exploration game. The music wasn't loopeable so I had to turn it off, because it was being very repetitive. The first time I played, some barrels didn't make me evolve, so I was wandering a lot of time trying to figure what to do.
It was a funny story, but nothing more.
It gets repetitive too early. I played until wave 14 and all I had to to was keep spacebar down. The upgrades are not noticeable enough, maybe a change of asset would be better. I liked the concept of extinct races, though.
Funny game. It's a shame there's no timelapse.
It was a little fun game! I liked the concept of an evolutionary land.
Nice mood :) The first part gets a little long, though.
Excellent art! But a little short :P
Wow.. Excellent! My favorite entry so far
Once you get stone and gold and full everything of turrets, it gets boring :P I would remove the functionality to move the entire base... I can place my workers on top of a resource and they will get the resource too fast.
Nice simulator. But I feel like a monster now... Because the easiest way to win is always throw away the cats you don't need. And even though PETA protests against you, you can buy them for only 2000Y.
One remark: the game crashes too often.
I wish you could move faster!
So its still unfinished...
The best space exploration game in the competition. Make something more polished and don't use Java.

Wow what a story! Best 2D platformer of this LD.
Wow this is very cool. You should teach game design with this.
Broken for me, on Windows 8, card info: http://gpuz.techpowerup.com/13/05/01/h93.png
I won!
I don't get the joke.
Hahaha nice one!
Wow nicely done!! Nice effects!
Incredible Machine much. Great job, though I got stuck at the "tricky one".
Since you are always giving amazing reviews, I will try to do the same.
The concept is very interesting, absorb life of nearby plants. Why not animals too? :P
The music was really cool, and so the animations. I understand the lo-fi graphics are because of the theme.
I found out that the absorbing part was really slow, because if you are going to do that every time, it should be super rewarding or very fast. What about absorbing things while moving?
The first level as tutorial was great.
The second one doesn't feel like the second place, because of the increased difficulty. It should have been the third one in my opinion.
The power up concept was interesting, but it's a shame you didn't continue it; I was expecting a new level to use my newly acquired power up.
What about absorbing powers from nature, ala kirby?
Anyway, really neat concept, but it should be worked on further. I would really like to play a full game based on the absorbing thing.
Incredible narrative game. It would be nice if different elements carried out different emotional value. For example I was expecting his side of the bed to remove more "fragment" than other stuff.
Also, I wanted to re-read some texts but that wasn't possible.
I really loved your take on the theme. Super minimal :)
Wow, impressive work. My favorite entry so far.
Dat voice acting..
The game resolution is is fixed to 1920x1080, so those using laptops can't play at all. Also, there are no instructions of what icon do what.
Elegant design overall :) Although controls don't seem responsive.. Maybe it's because of Flash.
I like your style! Finish this!
Game was fun, but a little bit too long. I didn't get much "minimal" experience, and it was running very slow (maybe because of being fullscreen).
Wow this is incredible... It's a shame it's not polished enough. Super innovative.
I Lol'd
Wow! Very artsy. One of my favs.
I don't understand your view on minimalism.
Nice lo-fi style! But only 1 level? :P Also there are some bugs in the animation, sometimes you stay idle and it keeps playing the 'run' animation.
Truly minimalistic! Really well executed!
The idea was fun. But the physics made playing almost impossible, lot of time spent in the air (maybe you forgot to recalculate the center of mass?). Also in my opinion, the effects were exaggerated, it would have been better with plain colors (minimal, like the theme).
Nice graphics. I thought inverting the colors would have an effects on the level, but seems it's only an visual effect.
Missing d3dx9_43.dll
Nice game! Reminds me of another one I can't recall the name. You should upload the Unity project as the source, I want to check the effects you added.
Interesting!
Nice atari-esque runner, though a score would be a good addition.
Good job for being your first game.
Simply amazing!
Surprisingly fun game.
I agree with the problem of the controls. Also it's frustrating to reset to level when you misplace a green block.
Excellent graphic effects and transitions. Mechanic was really interesting. Sometimes it's hard to see what color Zip is.
Wow really amazing, I will store this game for future reference. Not very minimalism though.
Well the easy one is quite difficult.
Great concept... Minimal runner with physics. Good job!
Wow really nice game. A little slow perhaps, but otherwise it was excellent in every aspect.
I was about to write some feedback but then I read in your comment that you called the other participants "jealous and envious". Really? Was that a joke or what?
@Adipson, they are many people that don't know understand the rules the first time. It's your first time competing, and also you don't understand English 100%, there's a big chance you didn't know that you can't use music from Internet in your Compo game.
The "jealous" people were just trying to tell you that the correct category for this game is Jam, not Compo. No need to be harsh, this is a friendly community.
Wow pretty amazing short thing. You should definitely make more stuff.
I liked the way to tell messages, and the graphics, but I wished the progression were faster. Lot of time where I couldn't do anything but wait for the level to finish.
Beat it on the second run. Nice minimalistic atmosphere!
Nice elegant line drawing.
This is very similar to http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-26/?action=preview&uid=11606
I liked the interface :)
Nicely done! Maybe you should add more levels?
The best tone based game of this LD.
Great atmosphere. We need more games like this. It's a shame that, being multiplayer, I can't test it properly.
Nice graphics. Although the game was fun for the first seconds, since there's no progression it got boring after dying 1 or 2 times.
Nice looking, although there's nothing much to do. No problem, nothing to solve, just press right key to finish the level.
So.. four riddles. I was expecting something more, honestly.
But I like clowns!
Nice graphics!
Nice idea but a little slow-paced.
Looks interesting! I hope to try it soon.
I spent a lot of time trying to reveal the full message, but though I discovered all black places, I can't seem to "win". Is there a final screen?
Good job on the narration!
Uh Eufloria clone? Looks promising.
Game is really fun. Sometimes you can go through walls. Happened to me in first level and I had no idea what to do next.
Nice little game.
Alright I managed to get to 10 BPM but got to quit because the game was pretty slow at that time. Otherwise was fun.
I want this on Android. Good job!!
Well done man. I like games that give a message. And this is beatifully done.
You have to rate other games to get yours rated ;)
Well honestly I can't rate this too high. But I loved the work you did on the visual aspect! If you are having problems with logic for your games, maybe consider teaming up with a programmer. I think the result will be awesome.
A couple of issues:
- It would be cool if the camera followed you around, I mean, like DoTA games. Without minimap, you don't know where your hero is.
- You can camp the enemy spawn once you are big enough. There's nothing for her to do, except ragequit. The hero spawn should be protected in some way.
- There's no end. I destroyed enemy base and game didn't tell me I won or anything. I closed the server and the other player crashed.
- Sometimes you can go through walls.
This is a nice concept, I particularly like how you replaced money/hp/level with a single stat: size. But there are many issues that make this unenjoyable. And there's the thing it's multiplayer so you need to gather people to play this.
Interesting. I found a bug where you can click on the hidden missions to play anyone.
Interesting mechanics, interesting graphics :)
