Won't launch for me, I'm afraid. Just minimises to task bar and sits there.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD21 → Safari Park Escape

Interesting gameplay, I really liked the graphics.
Great entry! It still needs work but you have a pretty unique idea here with some pretty great artwork. Keep working on this!
I couldn't figure out how to win and got all my animals captured. I liked the graphics and the gameplay shows potential.
This could use a little more of a tutorial - I wasn't really sure what I was doing, but clicking to move my animals seemed to work eventually.
@zed: Did you have firefox running and minimised, by any chance? I've had issues in the past with firefox forcing SDL apps to minimise on Vista. The solution is just to unminimise or quit firefox.
@Andrew: There's two ways to win: Avoid capture with at least one of your animals till turn 50, or defeat all the humans in battle. How easy that will be depends on which animals you selected to escape with. Elephants are really tough and can do a lot of damage if you gang up 2 of them on a human, hippos and owls can go on lake tiles where humans can't capture them...
The animals' different stats were supposed to make each one useful in its own way, but running out of time meant some of them are more useful than others.
The graphics were well done, I know you didn't finish everything you wanted to but I can see where you were going, that would've been cool :D A critique though was that there wasn't much direction given to the player; when the game started I wasn't sure where it was that I was supposed to go to, etc. I liked the idea of different stats applied to different characters which added some strategy to the mix, good job!
Nice art and idea (I was considering escape from zoo too for a few moments too before discarding it for not knowing how to do it interesting), but it really is too unfinished (and buggy - in one attempt generated level meant that my hippo could just stand on the place and be attacked almost every turn, as he couldn't walk through the trees and he could only return to the park. Also losing turn for trying to walk wrong way doesn't seem much fair.
Adorable graphics (5 stars for that)! Gameplay was a little confusing at first. Wasn't clear right away when battles started (because it didn't show the attack happening). Still not clear on what returning to the park does. Kept getting my two animals on top of each other, when I was trying to select the other animal. This should have at least spawned another animal. ;)
Overall, has a lot of potential, and I think your use of the theme is really cute.
Hilarious concept. Decent execution, but I wanted lots more :)
