Great fun, very clever.

Nice effort. Too bad you didnt finish it, I bet if you had spent the whole weekend this could have felt more complete. :P
Thanks for the feedback! Maybe in a future version I will add wall sliding to do controlled drops. To help with the blind falling and all. :P
A few people mentioned clunky controls. Can anyone elaborate on what felt off? Was it the responsiveness or the button choices or the physics or something else?
Again thanks all for the feedback so far.
Challenging, but it is very hard to give in to defeat! Very nice entry though. And I agree with lilserf, 'you are a winner' text is hilarious.
Great entry! It still needs work but you have a pretty unique idea here with some pretty great artwork. Keep working on this!
I like the art style a lot, particularly on the first screen. I guess you didn't quite finish though? In any case keep it up, this looks nice and has some great ambiance.
Neat concept. I didn't feel like I was getting much feedback though. But maybe that was intentional?
Having a hard time getting this to run, it says I am missing openal32.dll. 64bit install of Windows 7.
I'll check back in a day or two and try again. :)
You have some pretty solid gameplay mechanics here, the difficulty ramped up pretty quickly so there were some frustrating moments, but the controls always felt fairly responsive. A proper tie in with the theme would have been cool, but that aside you have some solid gameplay. :P
Great concept!
Nice work, you shouldn't sell yourself so short. I am sure everyone has things they wished they had gotten to, it's the nature of the competition, but I found your entry a lot of fun! I got both endings. :P Well done.
I really do like the art style and the whole aesthetic. I wish there was more to do though.
Hrmm, I have had half a dozen people test it for me and they had no problem. Can you give any more details? What OS are you on? Browser?
Thanks for the feedback. I agree a bit more variety would be nice. I did have additional plans but you can only do so much in 48 hours. If I had worked faster / had more time, I planned a separate texture for the smaller robots. I was also thinking about an additional enemy that would be like a small swarm that would slow your movement down when they swarmed around you. I had a whole tower defense angle planned as well where you could activate turrets with parts the robots dropped.
But oh well. :P For 48 hours I am really happy with what I got put together. And I will continue to work on it over the holidays I think.
In any case thanks again for your thoughts!
My highest score so far is 86. Have any of you guys beaten that? A friend of mine claimed something like 150 but I am not sure if he was pulling my leg or not. :P
I guess this is a joke entry? I don't find stuff like this very amusing. There are a LOT of Ludum Dare entries and stuff like this takes attention away from people who actually put a little time and effort into things. Each of us has limited time to review as many games as possible and spending 5 minutes looking at this means 5 minutes less to look at rate other entries. :/
Joke entries do not amuse me. :(
Neat concept and some interesting mechanics. Nice work. :)
Great job! Very interesting and entertaining. The controls are maybe a little non intuitive, but very good work.
It ran fine for me.
I was interested in getting the narrative but the gameplay is a bit frustrating. If you were able to move around or something it might be a little bit more interesting?
In any case, nice concept. Oh and I like the artwork for the kid as well. :P
Nice work, very interesting and engaging.
Works fine in Windows with the Love runtime as you suggested.
Game is interesting, I love the artwork, and the idea works great with the theme. Would be nice to have more visibility though. With the camera zoomed in it's hard to predict where people are, making it hard to avoid them.
Very nice entry though, I enjoyed it!
Well don't get discouraged, just give things another go. What you have here really is a nice start though. Out of curiosity, what was your game concept?
Should this be a Jam entry? I don't see a link to the source.
Where is the source code? Source is required for a 48 hour entry... If you don't want to release the source maybe switch it to a jam entry?
That said I like the mood and feel a lot. It starts to get a little frustrating when the difficulty ramps up but over all a pretty neat idea that fits very well with the theme.
Very nice ambiance. The artwork sound and controls all come together nicely. If you guys keep working on this and add a few more game mechanics this could be really fantastic. Well done!
Also beautiful concept art in your blog post. :P
No source provided. Use of pre-made art. This should be disqualified.
Each of us has limited time to review as many games as possible and spending 5 minutes looking at this means 5 minutes less to look at and rate entries from people who did NOT break the rules and actually tried to make a GAME. :(
While a little abstract it's an interesting concept. It's not very clear what happened when you lose because of a time elapse though. The comment seemed kind of negative but not "you lose" negative. I didn't know I should try again until I reread your intro text.
In any case it is an interesting mechanic and (with your text considered) a really great use of the theme. Keep working on this, it has potential beyond Ludum Dare if you want it to!
