Hrmm, I have had half a dozen people test it for me and they had no problem. Can you give any more details? What OS are you on? Browser?
could use a few more sprites and upgrades but a good game for 48 hours. hope to see you develop it.
Thanks for the feedback. I agree a bit more variety would be nice. I did have additional plans but you can only do so much in 48 hours. If I had worked faster / had more time, I planned a separate texture for the smaller robots. I was also thinking about an additional enemy that would be like a small swarm that would slow your movement down when they swarmed around you. I had a whole tower defense angle planned as well where you could activate turrets with parts the robots dropped.
But oh well. :P For 48 hours I am really happy with what I got put together. And I will continue to work on it over the holidays I think.
In any case thanks again for your thoughts!
Perhaps I'm just used to last stand styled games that rotated the character to the aim so when the game began, I didn't think to use the mouse. On a similar note, the gameplay could use a bit more feedback (flashing effect/thump sound for getting hurt, etc) as shooting didn't quite have the kick that it could have. And bullets coming from the gun instead of my chest. ;)
Small details aside, I liked it and I'm sure you can really polish it up with just a bit more time.
Cool :D
My highest score so far is 86. Have any of you guys beaten that? A friend of mine claimed something like 150 but I am not sure if he was pulling my leg or not. :P
Error occured while "downloading packages". WINXP, latest java (required by some other entry), several java games using LWGL worked normaly
So much violence! I felt raped by spider robots!
A pretty good game! Once you get a strategy though (running around in circles avoiding the shots), it gets pretty easy until all of a sudden you get overwhelmed. I got 212.
I found the game really easy, and quit at about 86. I just circled them and shot. The back story was a nice touch and the music was pretty good.
The music is quite nice (since it sounds very synth, I imagine that it's what the robots are listening to) and the gameplay is good. It could use something to keep the game interesting for longer, though. Possibly an upgrade system or robots with new techniques that require you to find new strategies. Like several others, I found that I could just run around in circles until I was overwhelmed.
Still, great effort for just 48 hours!
It's fun, but it would of course be nice to see a bit more variety.
I think I got to around 100 on my second try (forget exact number, though). It's fairly easy to get the enemies grouped together in one spot and circle strafe them. The main threat is when they first spawn on all sides of you, before you can get out of the middle.
Not sure how I feel about the way the shields recharge while you're being hit. As it is, it's impossible for a single small robot to actually hurt you.
Unfortunately on Mac OS X I see only a white screen. No errors in the console.
