While a little abstract it's an interesting concept. It's not very clear what happened when you lose because of a time elapse though. The comment seemed kind of negative but not "you lose" negative. I didn't know I should try again until I reread your intro text.
In any case it is an interesting mechanic and (with your text considered) a really great use of the theme. Keep working on this, it has potential beyond Ludum Dare if you want it to!

Without your explanation, I would have thought your game is good. Now I think it's awesome! I love abstract games, conveying messages with their mechanics...

I had to read the text to understand what was going on. Actually, I though that being small and having a complete shell was the good thing to do! Maybe it reflects my way of living... Anyway, well done!
I really like this idea, even though I'm not fond of the interface. Cool take on the theme.
