Plug In & Out by The Big Lost 2026-10-24T20:08:29Z ♥ 1

I connected my first incorrect call at the very end, at like 23 calls, so I only learned at the very end that I could have been cheesing it the whole time. I liked how the gossip mechanic encouraged actually reading and parsing what people were saying. 26 total calls!

Booji by AidnaMode 2026-10-24T19:50:53Z ♥ 0

I got stuck after jumping on the bed so sadly I didn't finish, but I had a great time! Really cute! Loved the simlish.

White Noise Protocol by Picster 2025-10-23T23:25:06Z ♥ 0

Incredible visuals! I really enjoyed the way my friend and I ended up communicating ("I'm at the big rock the size of a small rock") But after an hour and a half or so we just could not get to the black box the normal way, so we ended up just streaming the pioneer perspective and got there pretty quickly afterwards. Maybe if the effective vision range was slightly longer we could have made it? But great stuff anyway.

Carpathian Goodbye by FireSlash 2025-04-26T00:33:16Z ♥ 0

Love a good name generator!

I really liked the movement, especially the propulsive bash, especially when I got vampirism. Of course, as in all things, vampirism is really powerful and I instantly won on that run!

A Leap in the Dark by mmemim 2025-04-11T22:09:23Z ♥ 6

Truly impressive! Beautiful art direction, fantastically expressed mechanics, and there's so much! I kept asking myself, how is there still more to this game? Really well done.

Subnet by jordantanner 2025-04-10T01:23:49Z ♥ 0

I liked the balance between collecting more bits and deciding when to shift layers, and the way the trail following the ball looks when switching layers.

Lovely take on the theme!

Tiny Mutators Descend by Urfoex 2024-10-13T17:02:45Z ♥ 3

I was excited to see where the mechanics went after the splitting ability -- would like to see more levels!

The Best Laid Plans by HexyVexy 2024-10-13T00:25:19Z ♥ 2

I also ended up defeated by a plough level -- I think I got hit by a bug where the screen went black near the end of the second plough level and I ended up eventually dying to what I assume was the plough. Frustrated me enough that I didn't want to try again!

I very much love the way the poem is integrated, and the wee beastie is indeed adorable. Excellent scrabbling action.

30-second Deliveries by Sebastian-M 2023-05-14T17:54:18Z ♥ 1

Love the concept! My main issue as others have said was that not being able to see the target because of bad luck was a little frustrating since I couldn't judge how far away it was. But the core here is great!

Build-A-Delivery by shp 2023-05-14T16:36:48Z ♥ 1

I was constantly forgetting that A and D don't turn, which was very funny because the vehicle rolling all the time was inherently funny. I enjoyed the core route planning challenging and trying to find a place to fit the boxes was neat.

Blood and flavor by nyanpierre 2023-05-14T16:10:15Z ♥ 2

You nailed the difficulty curve! I felt like each puzzle nicely incremented the challenge without being too obvious.

Per My Last Bullet, by HexyVexy 2023-05-03T02:12:10Z ♥ 4

It's a tradition for an Arcane Rituals game to be stylish, but y'all really nailed it on the aesthetic this time! Really a delight to see in motion. I especially love the way the tie moves, but all of the visual choices were great and the feeling of the guns was really solid. I didn't end up feeling like I needed to use the cover mechanic at all, since I could just shoot the enemies before they shot at me. Bonus points for the snake eater joke!

Harvesting the Dark Souls by MoLa0404 2023-01-09T20:54:45Z ♥ 2

I got to 209 souls! Nowhere near round 30. I liked the weirder upgrades like the boomerang scythe and the always-rotating scythe. The description is right, the healer upgrade isn't too bad!

BEANSTALKERS by HexyVexy 2023-01-09T20:32:59Z ♥ 3

beanstalkers_loss.png

I love the aesthetic! The name BEANSTALKERS is really good. I found the range of the scythe to be claustrophobic, requiring a lot of very precise movement to avoid getting hit by the things I'm hitting. The rumble on hitting an enemy added a lot of oomph! Felt really good to whack things.

My aversion to consuming resources meant that I rarely used the spells, focusing on the towers instead. Not sure if that's the soundest strategy but hey, I love towers.

Really liked the whistling game over song also! Makes it sting less.

Sneak Guy by bwalter 2022-10-16T03:20:43Z ♥ 1

I love stealth games! And this one is very polished! I had a ton of trouble with the very first level because I didn't understand that the arrow next to the instruction meant press down -- I only understood when I went and looked at the comments, and then it was obvious in retrospect. I also had a hard time intuitively understanding when a guard was going to be able to find me behind cover or not -- something that I imagine would just need a little small numbers tweaking to feel great.

The look for is really nice and clean, very cohesive and readable style.

Flashey (VR Only) by shadowbrain 2022-10-15T21:30:45Z ♥ 1

I finished it! It was a very interesting concept -- the discovery that the hands sort of "glow" and therefore kind of work as an analog to being able to "feel" my way around by walking around with my hands out in front of me was really cool. I found pointing the camera in the correct direction really unintuitive -- eventually figured it out, but it was obviously hard to see the model of the camera most of the time so I struggled. I really liked how the trail of polaroids on the ground made "backtracking" easier.

My first reaction when I found a second key was "oh god, what am I going to need all these keys for?!" I had trouble juggling the fuses and the keys in my storage until I finally found my way to the fusebox and realized I only needed one key.

I'm not a very good photographer in significantly less challenging environments, but I saved some photos because that's fun!

Terminal Words by gui_pererao 2022-10-12T15:40:01Z ♥ 0

Great style! I agree with the other comments that the 10 seconds part doesn't come across strongly -- you're so focused on the typing that the timer getting faster doesn't register. An effect of some sort when the timer changes would help I think. I got 76 seconds on my first attempt -- the second appearance of synchronized is what got me!

Heroic Chrono Fantasy by Feynallein 2022-10-12T15:34:14Z ♥ 2

I'm loving seeing other entries do minigames! I really like the "minigames as combat" concept. It ended up feeling a bit easy -- I beat 40 enemies without feeling like I was ever at any risk of losing. But I liked the minigames enough to do them 40 times!

Cosmic Crashers by mrjeremy 2022-10-08T16:06:07Z ♥ 3

Great music! I liked blocking shots with the shields, but the ammo mechanics felt a bit unintuitive -- it wasn't clear to me why I was getting ammo back or of what types. I really enjoyed the omnicalculator.com death facts.

The Time Bomb by PSV Games Studio 2022-10-08T15:54:31Z ♥ 1

Beautiful! I wished for a little more depth in the puzzles, but it was a delightful experience anyway. The camera worked remarkably well and I loved the cute little robot.

Every ten seconds, the game skips... by davidsheadgames 2022-10-08T15:37:33Z ♥ 1

I said out loud as I was playing "that's a great bit!" I really like the presentation, and the game was very fun. I also had difficulty with the dragon until I switched from keyboard to a controller, after which I completed it immediately -- it was much easier to aim shots using the analog stick.

I am a very fast reader so I got to enjoy the easter egg text. Loved the humor throughout!

Dreihander by Defrag 2022-10-08T15:23:19Z ♥ 1

Took me a bit to parse the difference between phase A and phase B -- but the healing phase was very fun! I like the idea of healing vs buffing healthy systems, and the elevator music is great.

THE_MACHINE_KNOWS_HATE by HexyVexy 2022-10-08T14:49:25Z ♥ 2

That was fun! I really like the way the lasers look and feel, they're very striking in the darkness. I completely missed the existence of the sprint button on my first go through so I was stuck on the introduction of lasers -- ended up restarting the game to go look at the controls to realize my mistake, but then played through to the finish. Love the various sci-fi references.

MacGyval: Use What You've Got, Survive or Not! by CataclysmicKnight 2020-05-02T02:45:49Z ♥ 2

I played this multiplayer with @zyrconium! We played it kind of wrong (we did cooperative multiplayer sharing a sheet via Google Docs, and had 5 items per with 3 from the deck each).

I really liked how the scramble to find 10 items around you at the beginning led to MacGyver-style "oh gosh what can I do with a hammer and a knife". This was really goofy and fun to play! It was a blast coming up with ridiculous justifications for how I could possibly stop a swinging pendulum with my arrangement of garbage.

I don't know if I'd want to play it competitively, because taking it seriously kind of breaks it IMO. But very fun and creative as a group!

Mother Hen by beepyeah 2020-04-29T23:17:31Z ♥ 1

So extremely stylish! Very polished. I found the actual mechanics rather frustrating (as with another commentator, I gave up on the tic-tac-toe level) but it still felt good to play.

Type or Die by pepperkep 2020-04-28T23:11:54Z ♥ 2

I really liked the extra layer that the corruption adds on top of a traditional typing game. It adds a good sense of panic as you struggle to interpret or remember what the text was going to be.

Our games have similar naming conventions, so that's a plus. :D

FIREGUARD by Puszkee 2020-04-27T00:16:25Z ♥ 1

As others have said, I was confused by not being able to throw burning sticks into the fire. Once I figured that out, I liked the balance between throwing sticks at enemies and keeping the fire going, and the variety in enemies. The higher pitched parts of the music became a bit grating, but I really enjoyed the bass line.

GhostVac by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2020-04-22T21:19:33Z ♥ 1

Really fantastically nailed the aesthetic!

My Egg and I by Sid Fish Games 2020-04-21T23:50:10Z ♥ 1

I really like the fact that the camera follows the egg rather than the player, that's a fun touch. I found the time it takes to respawn a little frustratingly slow, given how frequently I was dying.

Project Ark by TechnoGoth 2020-04-21T23:06:38Z ♥ 1

I think I got into a bugged state where time remaining on my construction was negative and it was constantly building those parts every month, which made it pretty hard to succeed! That aside, after I got over the hurdle of understanding what my goal was, I was having fun. I like the aesthetic of the UI.

The Circuit Designer by Aggrathon 2018-08-16T07:54:46Z ♥ 2

Super neat! I have some logic gate experience, but I eventually got stuck on Or by XOR. (Isn't it impossible to make an OR out of only XOR? it's been a while so maybe I've misremembered.) Anyway I love the running out of space interaction with the digital logic stuff; reminds me of a Zachtronics game.

Curse of Greed by Sophie Houlden 2017-12-11T03:42:52Z ♥ 0

There's a character in Necrodancer, the Monk, who dies as soon as he touches gold, which is such a huge inversion of the normal way that game plays that it turns a lot of it on its head. This feels the same way! It's super clever.

I'm a fan of MidBoss, so I was pretty excited to give this a shot! (and if you like this game you should play MidBoss too - a former LD game!)

I was not disappointed! I got a big grin on my face when I realized the take on the theme, which feels vaguely They Live-ish. Solid gameplay delivers on the premise well. It's a shame there wasn't enough time to get the instructions re: what the pages do into the game, but the art and music are fantastic.

Sushi Secret by RainbowJam 2017-12-05T04:39:04Z ♥ 2

Dodge by misson20000 2016-05-01T19:50:00

Works great for me in Chrome, for the record!

I loved it! It's really hard but not unfair. I think the mechanics are neat and have a lot of room for doing interesting things in a full game if you wanted to do it. It definitely scratches that "try/fail/repeat" itch where you learn patterns and get progressively better every time.

Boxey by ShadowBrain 2016-04-29T14:12:00

I love the feeling of it! Very pleasing to toss boxes around. I had troubles because of my very limited play area (my computer desk is exactly at the end of the conveyor belt... so I kept hitting my hands against an invisible wall while trying to pick up boxes that fell) but that added to the feeling of growing chaos. Fun!

Miss Turner's Magical Pet Swap Shop by Rose 2016-04-29T01:36:00

Ghost Bird by torcado 2016-04-19T03:36:00

I really love the way you contrasted above ground vs under ground w/ the prism colors. Pretty! I found the actual platforming a bit too challenging for my tastes, but I still played through and beat it.

Rayshifting by ponk 2016-04-19T03:12:00

This was a relaxing and pretty showcase of some really cool effects! When playing, I was imagining how rad it would be to look at the shapes I was generating, in VR.

Proud Sprout by ambi 2015-12-30T23:54:00

This is a fun concept, but I feel like the decision to follow the two button controls restriction hurts it. You really need a third "jump" button!

The Gun that Makes Things Bigger by rogual 2015-12-30T23:49:00

Haha, I love the two-button controls interpretation.

Sprout by TheOZone 2015-12-28T13:25:00

Something I've really liked about this LD is seeing people with the same basic concept (two buttons controls + growing = left/right arrows growing a plant) and all the different interesting variations on that idea. We both did a very similar concept and it's really cool to see how your game differs from mine. I love the branching concept, and the gradual shrinking as your plant gets longer.

Grow and Match by johnnwfs 2015-12-27T04:55:00

I love the growing/shrinking to change rotation speed mechanic! In practice I found the pattern matching tedious, but the movement mechanic is interesting.

There's something great to be said for doing a simple thing very well! I want more polished small scope games like this one in Ludum Dare.

Solid mechanic and I love the aesthetic! Puzzle weren't too hard or too easy. Great!

Growth by supajackle 2015-12-24T00:05:00

I came here from your twitter where you promised a tiny and weird game and you delivered in full. I love the mood and the way this game is very self contained - it's not aspiring to be more than it is, it just is. Love it!

Disassemble by Tommislav 2015-12-22T01:19:00

I love the concept and it's really well executed! It was fun to make constant decisions between firepower and ability to dodge. I feel like this was unfortunately restricted by the two button controls - it could be even better with a more fluid movement system. If you do a post compo version I would suggest dropping the two button controls limitation.

Love it!

Spread by gogo199432 2015-12-22T00:44:00

I love the style! The puzzles are very unforgiving, as people have already said. I'd like more interaction/choice in deciding where to spread your virus.

Sunder Farm by BudaDude 2015-12-20T18:07:00

I loved the little animations - the yawn and falling facefirst when you're out of energy. (I can relate!) There was a lot of downtime where you just queue up all the actions and watch it slowly go, but I was fine with that because I was just listening to a podcast and managing a little farm. I'd like more things that I can do while I'm waiting for animations to play out! Very enjoyable!

Concrete Jungle by Miltage 2015-12-19T14:52:00

Goomba Simulator 2015 by LandoSystems 2015-09-11T19:58:00

Mobs, Inc. by Pietro Ferrantelli 2015-09-11T19:30:00

Hydra Confusion by concalf 2015-08-25T01:18:00

I love this! I love the idea and it's a very smart implementation, and it looks great. My only gripe is that it's very easy until you mess up, which can take a while. It feels almost like it only becomes interesting when you screw up a few times first.

Monstre de Coiffure by Patacorow 2015-08-24T21:26:00

Awesomely creative and well executed! What a fantastic job.

My only nitpick is a lack of good feedback -- I thought I was doing horribly until I got to the end and had 84% accuracy.

Haha, I didn't think I'd run into another game controlled by whistling! I love the idea of using it to do a flappy-bird-esque thing, although it's maybe too easy? I feel like there should be some consequence for hitting an obstacle, I suppose.

Great idea!

Super Resizer by foolmoron 2014-12-14T17:15:00

Stasis by prymidion 2014-12-14T16:59:00

Excellent mechanic, great puzzles! I can imagine it would have been very frustrating to get stuck at the end - I didn't, thankfully, but that could have been very tedious.

Yaaaay I did it. Fun way to learn some planetary trivia. Good "it is a mystery" music. I enjoyed the feel of narrowing down the potential suspects. I don't think this fits the theme at all, though. Not that I blame you, this was a terrible theme.

Lethal Maze by martensms 2014-12-08T15:57:00

lycheejs.org seems to be down, so I cannot rate the game as it stands.

Space Battle - Multiplayer by vortex 2014-12-08T15:37:00

Played this with my friend. Surprisingly fun! I only wish bullets had more recoil, so you could zoom around by shooting. We enjoyed ourselves quite a bit screwing around in the lowgrav and dying by standing on bullets.

Jackin by eforen 2014-12-08T15:24:00

I wanted to like this but the "ur so 1337 pwn the intertubes" stuff grated on me so bad that I gave up to prevent my eyes from becoming stuck rolled backwards.

Ludum Star by hunterloftis 2014-12-08T15:13:00

Invisible walls suck! My friend and I had trouble with network performance that made actual dogfighting difficult. Seems like it could be fun with a bunch of people!

Veggie Wars by nexyon 2014-12-08T15:05:00

When I first opened the tab I had to quickly take my headphones off because the audio was extremely loud and very dissonant. After muting chrome, I swung around a little using the gamepad controls and collected veggies. Swinging was cool, reminds me of teeworlds.

Galactic Core 2-D by daftcube 2014-12-08T14:57:00

Played this with my friend for a couple rounds. Seems like it could be interesting to see with a full 16 players! Fighters are way too slow to be useful, though. Hit feedback would have been very appreciated, because it's hard to tell at the moment whether you actually hit at all.

Beast Master by LionelJitro 2014-12-08T05:25:00

Seemed really promising, but I too could not get past the 66g contract. Spending all my money on chickens(?) got it to level 3, but the contract still failed, and goats seem to kill it always. Couldn't figure out what the water spout does, either. Voting N/A on theme because this matches the theme in the same way nearly every video game does.

Very impressed by the background audio, btw. Very good!

Walk the Plank by MiniBobbo 2014-12-08T05:13:00

Fun and simple! Good execution on a simple concept. Audio loop is a little bit too tight, but otherwise not unpleasant. I refuse to believe that level 7 is beatable. Voting N/A on theme because this fits the theme just like nearly every other video game.

Round II I by Gaga 2014-12-08T04:59:00

Fun little toy! I had a good laugh when I realized the mechanic and it was very cathartic to play around with. If you have a controller and a windows computer available, it's worth the download and a bit of your time.

It's a website about video games. by Zyrconium 2014-12-08T04:44:00

It's a good, basic incremental game. Nothing revolutionary but if you're like me and enjoy getting sucked into skinner boxes it'll last you a while.

Theme Disasteroids by monkeymad2 2014-12-08T04:41:00

I love the sarcasm here! It's fun to play a game where you're a villain, protecting a terrible, terrible theme. Turn speed is a little slow to be really enjoyable but I had a good chuckle.

It seems like there's a lot of cool simulation going on underneath the surface, but I'm not sure how to interact with it currently. None of the buttons seem to do anything, possibly because I'm not sure what I'm doing. My resources seem to go up, but I can't figure out how to make a colony. I look forward to the post-compo version, when you have time to make a tutorial!

the two of you by 607 2014-04-30T01:24:00

Wow! I'm impressed. I was very pleasantly surprised by the depth of some of the platforming puzzles. I didn't end up beating it, so who knows what's at the end, but I was pleased with what I saw. You also did well at allowing for instant retries, which can make or break games like this.

Graphics and sound are more functional than pretty, but the legitimately well-thought-out level design makes up for it.

The Light, It Burns! by Zyrconium 2014-04-29T22:47:00

The little acceleration arrows are a surprising amount of fun. Obviously there's not much depth (or content) to the game but I would totally play a finished game about zooming around on little arrows.

Frigid Contact: Diving Game by swinestudios 2014-04-29T22:41:00

Surprisingly atmospheric! By the way, I don't know if it's a typo in the notes, but the key is Z, not C. Took me a while to realize that it clears the ice at the top of the water.

I liked how the fish were harmless decoration, until you got deep enough and swordfish start being a threat.

Metro Lance by theholychicken 2014-04-28T09:32:00

Great art style. Agreed that the game really needs audio - even crappy beeps would give a degree of feedback that's lacking. Don't see the connection to the theme myself, but I haven't beat it. Again, very pretty. Love the aesthetic.

Ben Eath The Surf Ace by mess110 2014-04-28T09:25:00

Funny name. Wish there was a game to go with the name, but the idea will have to do.

Also, unless I'm mistaken, that applause soundtrack is against the rules. I'll just rate Audio N/A.

Not your Average Mining Emulator by Ace 2014-04-28T09:17:00

High marks for sheer promise - this game really feels like something that could expand well post-compo. Just needs polish and features. I was surprised by that radial menu - very sleek.

WHAT IS IN THE SWAMP? (IT'S MONSTERS) by tacs 2014-04-28T09:05:00

I really love the idea of a title like "WHAT IS IN THE SWAMP? (IT'S MONSTERS)". I just wish the "(IT'S MONSTERS)" part was in the title screen, haha. I was surprised how natural the controls felt, after getting used to them.

In Hiding by Sheep 2014-04-28T08:47:00

Very good tension building! I really felt like I was at my wit's end just as the husband returned. I was extremely relieved. Great mood.

KA-25 KAMOV by lief 2014-04-28T08:25:00

Extreeeemeeelly stylish. Looks great! I like the flat effect while turning, but I would agree that it doesn't fit the rest of the art style. I'm not convinced that the active sonar actually does anything. Chopper sound eventually grated on my nerves.

Beneath Mr. Perfect by monsterkillu 2014-04-28T08:13:00

It's a little... unsubtle? The themes the game is going for are literally stated, which ironically means that there's not much Beneath the Surface. It's a little like trying to make Freudian allusions by drawing a giant, anatomically correct penis.

That aside, I liked a lot of the things you did with the appearance - I was especially fond of the visual change when entering the "combat" part.

I liked the music as well!

Return To The Surface by Flam 2014-04-28T07:58:00

Jetpacks automatically add a +1 to the fun rating. I explored for a while but never found a power stone. I would do very poorly in Etno's situation, apparently. No issues with running it, although I did run into the known jumping bug. Not a big deal.

Blood Pressure by CustomPhase 2014-04-28T07:49:00

Very pretty! I wish there was more feedback on how I was dying. I think I was dying exclusively to body heat? It seems like I don't get enough blue cells to keep the heat down.

Shovel Quest by Nanolotl 2014-04-28T07:39:00

Great style! I feel like the appearance would be significantly less weird if the hand that's attached to the body pivoted with the shovel hand instead. I can tell if I liked a game if I am willing to retry it after dying - and I was immediately willing to give this another go. Didn't make it past 14/16 artifacts, but I had fun anyway. Big fan of the pikmin-style artifact names. Definitely the funniest entry I've played so far.

Soul Dive by John Drury 2014-04-28T07:25:00

Agreed that it would have been cool if the particles played the melody. Not particularly innovative, but smoothly executed.

pod by TomCooper3D 2014-04-28T07:15:00

Very pretty!

Dig Beneath The Surface by ItsSacraficed 2014-04-28T07:02:00

I like the idea and it's a strong execution - most of my complaints are just minor nitpicking. I wish the shop automatically paused. The audio beeps were rather shrill, so I had to mute pretty soon. I found it hard to remember which ores were most valuable. Overall a strong game, just needs time and polish.

Gravedigger 20XX by muramasa 2014-04-28T06:52:00

Big fan of the aesthetic. Some of the tiling doesn't look quite right, but that doesn't matter because the color choices are fantastic. I loved the digging mechanic, and the level design showcased it well. Unfortunately that boss room frustrated me enough that I had to give up before finishing. I got stuck with only 4 health left in the boss room, and so I died in almost one hit every time. That combined with having to dig through the dirt for every single boss attempt had a multiplicative effect on the frustration. Side note - took me a while to figure out how to beat the boss, because the boss made an "enemy taking damage" sound when I hit it, so it seemed like that was accomplishing something. Still, a solid 4/5 - wish I could have seen the ending.

Beneath the Game Developer by shs 2014-04-28T06:19:00

What an extremely annoying input method. As others said, a sad truth, but I was more annoyed at the game by the end than sympathizing.

Wolfy Blast by Logan 2014-04-28T06:11:00

This is really pretty! Love the aesthetic. I seem to have missed the relevance of the theme, though I didn't get too particularly far in my two runs. Audio is solid, though I had to dock a point for an audio glitch that occurs when you leave enemies behind you (I think that's what causes it, anyway). I saw some level design stuff that I thought was pretty neat, although I am unsure how one is supposed to solve one of the button puzzles. I ended up just waiting until an enemy wandered onto the button.

Fallen Outside by DDDBOMBER 2013-04-29T06:44:00

My first idea for this theme was a collection of simplistic minigames all using boxes for the art. I told myself I didn't have enough time for the scope I wanted, though - glad to see I was wrong! Not only that, you built friggin' Meat Boy around it! Well done!

Tiny annoyances: the music would eventually get very... "clangy"? towards the part that I assume is the end of the loop. When I first heard it I assumed it was my computer freezing, the way it repeated dissonant sounds.

Still, high marks from me! Excellent note for me to end the night on. However: I would like you to punch yourself in whatever part of your body you feel is most responsible for the double fireballs. Screw those.

Join by Perry 2013-04-29T06:12:00

good lord these puzzles got too hard for me! made even more frustrating by the quite dissonant sound made by the level-clearing wipe thing. (I think that's a really cool effect though - maybe just drop the dinging?)

otherwise a really fantastic game. Full points on innovation!

STFC by CRamoysi 2013-04-29T05:56:00

Dangit, I shouldn't like this game, but I really do. The epitome of minimalism, imo - "do a lot with a little". Stupidly simple gameplay concept, but a lot of fun anyway!

I would recommend a high-score table and some fun, high-energy music and this'd be great.

P.S.: 9104! Beat that, other players!

Doad by magicdweedoo 2013-04-29T05:52:00

Unfortunately I discovered after a while of experimentation that the arrow keys reset your progress for some reason. Wasn't compelled to try again.

LD26 Crimson Tide by Neurolabe 2013-04-29T05:37:00

The issue is that the link is https; the browser is blocking the insecure content. If you just remove the s in the URL it works fine! Neurolabe should edit the entry to fix that.

Mondrian Click by CherryNukaCola 2013-04-29T05:21:00

As everyone else mentioned, the click detection issue is really frustrating. Stops this from being an otherwise very atmospheric game. Fix that up, add a little polish, and I could spend a long time just clicking things! On that note, I'd like a "free" mode, with no time limit.

Life! by cwilloughby 2013-04-29T05:16:00

I really wanted to love this, but a rhythm game lives and dies by the music and unfortunately the music here was only okay. On the plus side, if you take this after LD and give it some really good music, it'd be awesome!

Only other complaint I have is that it took me a while to realize that it wasn't possible to hit two at the same time. Somehow I didn't understand that as a "decision point". No idea how to go about improving that, but there ya go.

Otherwise, a really innovative concept that I'd love to see you expand upon!

amazingly atmospheric as always

Balls Balls Balls by matthias_zarzecki 2013-04-29T04:11:00

Awesome soundtrack! Extremely appropriate and pleasant. For your enjoyment, here are the notes I jotted down while playing:
14 seemed too easy, like I missed the trick that made it difficult
then I realized the trick on 15
I realized that you were tracking clicks on 17, after 300 clicks... whoops
took me forever to beat 21 then I beat 22 in FOUR CLICKS YEAH
27 felt really good, like the successful application of skills learned
537 clicks!

Dream Fishing by Sophie Houlden 2013-04-29T03:52:00

I didn't think this theme would lead to any interesting games 'til I saw this one.

I'm at a loss for complaints or recommendations - my only gripe is that I wish the sound made when the bait hits the water varied more, because I tried to make music and it didn't work! :D

Anti-Tac-Tic by Super Hamster 2013-04-29T03:46:00

I suggest using Dropbox ( http://dropbox.com ). Place the jar and the HTML file in your Public folder, click on the HTML file and select Copy Public Link, and distribute that. Just to make sure that'd work, I uploaded it here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5227720/Anti-Tac-Tic.html
Feel free to use that as your link if you don't want to bother with dropbox, it shouldn't go anywhere.

I really like the game design! I've often wondered to myself, how do you fix tic-tac-toe? I'm not sure this is necessarily fixed (I think the player who goes first always wins, in optimal gameplay) but it's definitely better. Unfortunately, the AI is really easy to beat, but that's a problem that more time would solve I suspect.

Robot Hears Kitten by Kom 2013-04-29T03:35:00

I spent a while rocking out to the chiptune.

Very pleasant game, I enjoy the philosophical take on Minimalist. I wonder, do you need to listen to all of them before you find kitten? I'm pretty sure I did.

I'm giving graphics an N/A on this one, since they're clearly not the point.

This might be the single most atmospheric game I've ever played.

Praelia Solus by rftr 2012-12-17T16:30:00

I was a little disappointed in the lack of strategy, but perhaps it just needs balance tweaks - spamming Bursters is OP. Overall cool.

Question: You say the music is by __twc. Does that not invalidate this as a Compo entry?

A Chistmas Rebel by DDDBOMBER 2012-12-17T16:15:00

Mute button! Please! I enjoyed the music, but when I wanted to play while talking to someone, it suddenly became really irritating.

(on a personal note, this game is good enough to stand on its own merits - don't sell yourself short by talking about your age)

Pathos by McFunkypants 2012-12-17T04:24:00

The random starting positions made it feel too luck-based at first, but I eventually started winning consistently when I started taking into account the fact that they move as I place obstacles. I knew my TD mazing skills would come in handy! Take that, mom.

Green Grump by nickusername1 2012-12-17T04:09:00

Trying to be as constructive as possible. There's a lot of room for polish, so I'll just point out some things I'd like to have seen.
1) Conveyance. I only realized I was supposed to be a grinch-like character at the very end. (right? I'm not actually sure about even that). Even if just a wall of text, give me some context for my actions!
2) Jumping is far too abrupt. Add a little "float". Something that might help: vertical momentum should continue in the air, even after I've let go of the arrow keys.
3) Music! Would help make it more charming. Obviously, this isn't always possible, and I don't fault you for not including it.

Those things said, the sprite art is very charming. You make very good use of limited size. It is very obvious what everything is supposed to be (no easy task). Your platforming puzzles, though simple, were difficult enough to be entertaining for the duration.

Make more!

Tiny Sorceress by L 2012-12-17T03:59:00

Wow, this was remarkably charming! At points, not very fun per se, but I was smiling anyway. Totally blew my expectations out of the water. Love the art style, everything is smooth. Some points were needlessly frustrating - ESPECIALLY the deadly pendulum.

Overall: 4/5
Innovation: 3/5
Fun: 3/5

Graphics: 5/5

Dr. Nano - tiny surgeon by McFunkypants 2012-05-11T11:54:00

Most of the complaints I have are just problems with shmups in general, so I won't hold them against you. That said, I felt there was some incongruity between the fancy particles and the cartoonish characters. Needs a more distinct visual style!

Flea Game by samueldr 2012-05-04T12:04:00

Quite enjoyed the stats crawler.

Faelanx by arkeus 2012-05-04T12:01:00

Very good! Some feedback as I went through it:
It wasn't immediately clear that click is how you attacked, since all the other controls except that one were shown to me. Still mostly my fault.

I'd like it if a blink wouldn't move you anywhere, using it didn't put it off cooldown. (that's a really awkward sentence)

Biggest problem I see as far as fun is: this game is difficult for the wrong reasons. The very, very small amounts of healing given means that you'll eventually lose just by wearing down, rather than a "fun" death. Increase healing and increase damage, methinks. Give it more "extremes" if that makes sense.

Finally, an in-game explanation of what the stats do would be good.

Got to the core! The key to it is to use the purple blocks to protect you, because they block lava. It's completely not cost-effective for the risk, though. Better to keep going to new planets, got 60 that way. Normally I don't like the entries that take tiny world literally, but in this case, I'll make an exception. 5 for innovation, well done!

I didn't actually have any trouble with the presentation of the data! The navigation got a little tedious after a little, but it wasn't confusing and everything seemed to work. My main problem with this was the message I felt the plot conveyed about relationships at home, although the plot was well written and engaging (if not relatable for me, not being female, a mother, or married)

Very good use of the theme.

Don't Mess with the Gnomes! by ziomorti 2012-04-24T15:49:00

Innovation: 4/5 - I haven't seen the concept of platform control done this way, but it's still a platformer.
Fun: 3/5 - You need checkpoints! I don't want to have to do something I already figured out again. Other suggestions: Communicate functionality better. Perhaps have the gnome complain about things? "Aw no, I got to click this platform again..."
Theme: 3/5 - Tiny things in their world. More to do with appearance than gameplay, although that's the same for my game, so no hard feelings there.
Graphics: 3/5 - A little funky in places, but everything is functional and I can tell what everything is.
Audio: N/A - Not on a computer with sound, so not rating.
Humor: N/A - Didn't see any attempts at humor, so not rating.
Mood: N/A - I'm just going to leave this at N/A for games that aren't story-focused now.

Side-note: Got stuck on level 4, I think I pressed the first button at the wrong time? Couldn't jump to the platform anymore.

Don't take that the wrong way, I loved that one. And this one, too. I do enjoy a good maze game. Your mazes are harder to solve, too. Unfortunately, I must mark you down on theme, as it's a stretch at best.

Innovation: 3/5 - Not particularly new, but not a copycat.
Fun: 4/5 - I was surprised by how enjoyable it was.
Theme: 3/5 - A literal tiny world.
Graphics: 4/5 - Pretty, and functional. No complaints.
Audio: N/A - Not on a computer with sound, so no rating.
Humor: N/A - Didn't see any attempts at humor, so not rating.
Mood: 3/5 - Very lonely.

Ant, Bee, Cow, Pig and Spider BOSS by karnakgames 2012-04-23T15:28:00

Innovation: 3/5 - Nothing spectacularly new, but nothing too derivative either.
Fun: 2/5 - Loses a lot of fun because the mechanics are not intuitive, and experimentation is discouraged (you can't win if you waste even a single rock, for example)
Theme: 4/5 - Eh, fits the theme, but it's not clever about it.
Graphics: 2/5 - Not pretty, but mostly I can tell what they are. Except that pink thing - I'm guessing it was a pig?
Audio: N/A - Not on a machine with audio, so not rating.
Humor: N/A - Didn't see any attempts at humor, so not rating.
Mood: 3/5 - Cheerful, but nondescript.

Astronautics by Corné Dorrestijn 2012-04-23T13:01:00

Innovation: 4/5 - Can't say I've seen this type of game before.
Fun: 3/5 - It took me far too long to realize I'm supposed to go to the planets, not avoid crashing into them! That might just be my fault though. Replay value is lacking.
Theme: 3/5 - There are worlds, and they are tiny. Not really integral to gameplay in any way, though.
Graphics: 4/5 - Pretty and functional.
Audio: N/A - Not on a computer with audio, so not rating.
Humor: N/A - Didn't see any attempts at humor, so not rating.
Mood: 2/5 - There's not enough elements to string together a consistent mood.

6 Degrees of Sabotage by dukope 2012-04-23T12:49:00

Innovation: 5/5 - Extremely clever! I love this.
Fun: 3/5 - It was quite fun while it lasted - I was almost tempted to pull out a pad and take notes! - but it doesn't have much replay value.
Theme: 3/5 - I presume the connection to the theme is "It's a small world after all" but it's not communicated well enough. Certainly a clever take, though.
Graphics: 4/5 - Pretty, and functional. The game relies heavily on visual differentiation between targets, sometimes unsuccessfully.
Audio: N/A - Not on a computer with audio, so not rating.
Humor: N/A - Did not see any attempts at humor, so not rating.
Mood: 4/5 - A rather profound noir mood. Works well.

A Super Mario Summary by johanp 2012-04-23T12:02:00

Innovation: 4/5 - Obviously it's borrowing from Mario, but the level design is quite nice.
Fun: 3/5 - It lacks the punch of the original Mario Brothers because it doesn't tell me the score at the end of the level. It feels less incentivized to get the max score that way. Also, adding a time component (getting a better score the faster it's done) might add to the fun.
Theme: 4/5 - Very clever take on the theme.
Graphics: 5/5 - I looked for something to complain about, I really did.
Audio: N/A - On a machine without audio, so will not rate.
Humor: N/A - Didn't see any attempts at humor, therefore not rating.
Mood: 4/5 - It benefits from having an established mood from Mario, but it works.

Volo by Tkatchenko 2012-04-23T11:40:00

Innovation: 3/5 - Not a rip-off, but not really new ideas.
Fun: 3/5 - It's a fun little concept but it gets old really quickly, I suspect from the lack of communication. Positive reinforcement ("You win!" when an exit is reached for example) or score-tracking (how many levels without dying?) would give more reason to play for more than a couple minutes.
Theme: 3/5 - It's a tiny world with tiny things. Not really feeling the "world" aspect, but it works.
Graphics: 3/5 - They're pretty in a minimalist way. Unfortunately, because they're so tiny (ha) it was hard to tell what things were at first. Very functional, however.
Audio: N/A - On a machine without audio, so will not rate.
Humor: N/A - Didn't see any attempts at humor, therefore not rating.
Mood: 4/5 - The graphics come together quite well in this regard, especially the contrast between the dark play area and the bright window (and bird).

Bugs Planet by Cyboot 2012-04-23T11:28:00

Innovation: 3/5 - Not a rip-off, but not really new ideas.
Fun: 4/5 - Strangely satisfying to eliminate an entire race. Perhaps I should seek help.
Theme: 3/5 - Sure, the world is tiny, but this is more "Tiny" than "World".
Graphics: 3/5 - They get the job done, and are clear and concise. Not pretty, though, with more time it could have been polished.
Audio: N/A - On a machine without audio, so will not rate.
Humor: N/A - Didn't see any attempts at humor, therefore not rating.
Mood: 2/5 - The robotic movement is vaguely immersion-breaking.

This game is so relentlessly charming! Graphics are beautiful, as well as the audio. Simple gameplay, nothing too groundbreaking, but the incoming vehicle notification was quite nice. This game made me really want to like it, but...

nah just kidding I loved it

Escape from Flatland: an Adventure of Two Dimensions by pdyxs 2011-09-09T21:18:00

A promising game absolutely ruined for me by the controls. Aaaaagh so clunky. Mouse controls: nessecary

Luis the Thingemebober by Naarkie 2011-09-02T17:02:00

too easy by far, esp. w/ that bomb cache near start, never run out of bombs

Dragon's Bloodmoney by neosam 2011-09-02T16:54:00

I was highly amused by the three-year-old style intro. I wanted to be snarky and link you to the wikipedia page for "Difficulty curve", but unfortunately that page doesn't exist - much like the difficulty curve in your game. It was simple easy platforming and then suddenly, THAT PART. You know the one I mean.

Legendary Lava Escape by speciesUnknown 2011-09-02T16:38:00

This doesn't even need lighting, it just needs a separate texture for vertical spaces so that edges are clear.

Arena Escape by ZiAzon 2011-09-02T16:16:00

I liked the concept of having to choose between using your ammo to shoot at the zombies and shooting at the barrier, but it fell apart when I realized that I could just sit there and shoot at the barrier, then switch to the zombies when they came close, and still do fine. Imo, too much ammo available.

Escape Work to get a Drink by Redbone 2011-08-25T13:29:00

I was utterly annoyed by the teeny doorways. the character moves half a doorway with each step, so that if you aren't lined up perfectly with the doorway you can't align yourself to it. Ended up having to push against a nearby parallel surface every time I wanted to exit a room.

Esca by tnelsond 2011-08-25T13:15:00

I would love the ability to list the things I want done then see them done (i.e., "jump flap flap flap flap flap<enter>" but then it wouldn't really be a typing game would it.

End of file by FireSlash 2011-08-24T17:09:00

some notes while I play:

the energy mechanic is cool
can I improve the rate shields generate at? as it is I just alt-tab and do something else to let them fill up
I don't think you can describe this as a platformer in any way
the fact that enemies respawn makes it feel like I have no impact on anything
there was one enemy that I couldn't kill because of how the blocks around it were positioned, that bothers me for some reason
I'm lost because I died and I have no idea where the room I respawned in is in relation to where I died
figured it out, I respawned before the bosses that I'd already beaten
level design is quite strange, it feels like you just scribbled randomly and made it into a room (quite possible, this IS LD after all)
oh dammit, when I was nearing the ending (the not-exit one) I entered a room and got stuck in a wall, moved downward, then the game crashed (System.IndexOutOfRangeException, probably caused by my moving out of the level and therefore out of the array, I'm sure)
don't really feel like doing that again, so I guess I don't get to see the ending - that said, your game has bullets that shoot bullets. I am satisfied. also, the upgrade mechanic is neat

* Zeta Prime * by anthonyl 2011-08-24T14:58:00

The game progresses slowly, but I'm enjoying it. There's a slight issue with some of the help text being cut off on the right side. Well-conceived, and fun!

The Collapse by wzl 2011-08-24T14:18:00

This game's challenge is "here are some walls. don't touch them. also, your controls suck. good luck"
I frustrated myself endlessly on the last level before having to give up. I suggest: Press left mouse to freeze the ball's movement. Maybe put that on a cooldown, I dunno.

Escape Cod by Tom 7 2011-08-24T04:19:00

I didn't feel like I really had much impact on whether I got out of the fish or not. I knew action was required, but it was basically "wait for fish to turn properly"

D.T.R.J by Zemmi 2011-08-24T04:14:00

I got stuck on level 9 :( I loved the two-block puzzle concept. The Escape theme wasn't really represented, I think.

Virtual Girl by splixel 2011-08-23T20:13:00

I hate you for making me hate frogs.

Theme and plot felt kind of shoehorned on - "here is a game, and oh also you're escaping. yeah."

Escape The Overgrowth by brachyonic 2011-08-23T19:04:00

I want to give feedback, but I'm not sure what I could tell you that you didn't know. The growth thingy looked cool , when I got to see it. Pretty much every complaint could be simplified to "finish the game!"

(For Android) GetThatFellowOut by SharkApple 2011-08-23T18:36:00

Works on my moto droid! Game itself is rather simplistic, but it was a fun diversion while it lasted.

Moustache Chick by joekinley 2011-08-23T15:17:00

Collision was weird too, there were several points where I was like "Oh there was NO way that lava should have hit me!" I really like your lava fill mechanic though.

Slimecave by teomat 2011-08-23T15:03:00

Yeah, the fact that the sound plays even while midair completely disconnects it form being footsteps, and turns it into this weird background noise. Level design was pretty good, but a death animation would have been nice - oftentimes it was hard to tell I'd actually died, because it doesn't even pause for a second to tell you.

Prison of Air by drakfyre 2011-08-23T14:49:00

Music took an unexpected but interesting turn. Me like.

Vampire Runner by arielsan 2011-08-22T16:36:00

I went in to this game skeptical. "Canabalt but you just run through walls? How could that be fun?"

I was happily proven wrong though, it's a fun little timing game. I like how it kind of strips out all the unnecessary complications and is just a pure simple timing challenge.
Graphics are pretty, although the walls are rather bland.
Didn't really feel like I was Escaping anything, just running. If I was running from something, I didn't really get that.

c by Karethoth 2011-05-22T04:16:00

Squid Squares by 7Soul 2011-05-10T21:48:00

Only really challenging puzzle was the last one. Other ones involved simply clicking places and watching what happened. Kinda like you finished the tutorial levels, got the first level done, then ran out of time. Great concept though! Directional blocks really changes how the puzzle factor works.

Taking away a point on graphics because your background wasn't made by you in the 48 hours. They are otherwise quite good. Remember, Ludum Dare is about making all the content by yourself! Unless you're doing the Jam, of course.

As previously mentioned, that music gets pretty annoying.

"Tower Defense" by Dmurph 2011-05-10T17:13:00

Theme was extremely shoehorned in. Interesting concept.

It's dangerous to "go" alone! Take this. by zachstronaut 2011-05-08T14:05:00

The sound made when bumping into a wall was both unnecessary and annoying! Good gameplay concept and nice execution, shame you ran out of time. Good community participation, especially liked your postmortem.

Red by elbowroom 2011-05-07T17:48:00

A surprisingly fun game. Just when I'd thought I'd mastered the concept your level design threw me for a loop. Good stuff.

As far as community goes, you posted about the game, but didn't have a demo - acceptable seeing as you didn't enter until 10 hours left. Overall, good participation.

Hooj by caribou 2011-05-04T01:32:00

Was really quite difficult to sail around, which was a cool mechanic but made it pretty hard to do anything. Might be I just couldn't figure it out.

Not really sure if it fits the theme at all?
Lack of instructions hurts the overall score, but I see promise in this. Really only needs a guide of some sort to help silly people like me figure it out.

N3: Name Not Needed by nutink 2011-05-04T01:22:00

Innovation: I've never seen a space shmup with ammo as a concern, so that's new to me. Points to innovation for that.

Fun: Got boring after a while, doesn't seem to get any more interesting after a point. Previous commenter mentions a boss, but I never got there I guess.

Theme: Kinda forced in there. It's a space shooter, but occasionally a mysterious narrator power gives you stuff?

Graphics: Not beautiful, but elegant in a way. Functional.

Audio: None that I remember. N/A.

Humor: None that I remember. N/A.

Overall: Decent fun for a short while.

Community: Ooph, nothing. 1/5 for an empty journal. Next LD, participate in the community while you make the game! It'll pay off, even without a community rating.

Hero, Monster, Boss by oldsatchmo 2011-05-02T17:26:00

Innovation: Not entirely unique, what with being a shopkeeper game. The gameplay was a unique idea though - don't think I've seen anything like it before!

Fun: There was a sort of puzzle-esque fun to it, feeding that "a-ha!" moment when you realize how to profit without killing your clients.

Theme: Fits it pretty well, except it's more like "buy this" than "take this".

Graphics: Not exactly beautiful, but they get the point across in a functional and easy to figure out manner.

Audio: Kinda the same as the graphics. I wouldn't listen to it in my spare time, but it acted as a good background to the game.

Humor: Some asides in the item descriptions. Smile-worthy.

Overall: Solid, short, fun. Good gameplay concept, executed without bugs and in a presentable manner.

Community: Posted about your ideas, posted screenshots, have a demo. Food shots and/or gameplay video would have brought it to a 5.

OUT OF HERE by Grungi Ankhfire 2011-05-02T16:58:00

Innovation: Running game. Nothing really new here, plotwise or gameplay wise.
Fun: I felt really cramped in that tight passageway - not much room for maneuvering there. There were several points where I felt that the game was giving me an impossible situation to dodge. It was like, "How was I supposed to get past that? That's not fair." instead of "Damn I mssed up... Oh shit now they're catching up!"
Theme: The theme is kinda just forced onto the game. "You're running. It's dangerous, take my advice." and then it's never mentioned again.
Graphics: Quite good, I especially liked the Ludum signs. Was nice to be dodging them instead of generic unreadable signs. Good touch.
Audio: Music was very suitable and inspiring! No other sounds effects come to mind.
Humor: N/A, I think?
Overall: Overall, a distraction for a few minutes, enjoyable while it lasted.
Community: You posted enough, but a demo would have been nice. You did have an early gameplay video, so 4/5

Deadweight by ctz 2011-05-02T16:12:00

Lost Discoveries by Tb0o 2010-12-26T18:08:00

okay, I found the plot rather interesting, but I really couldn't take it seriously with the grammatical errors. I don't have an issue with improper spelling or awkward grammar, but you hit a pet peeve of mine when you put a space before punctuation, and use multiple punctuation marks. "The guys must be waiting for me and I am already late!" is how that should read.

Picking on your English aside, I was surprised at how engaging the plot was, but the trivia was rather difficult. A bit more ambitious than you could manage, but good effort!

Kill some, will ya?
Pretty obviously unfinished, but it shows potential. More planet sprites would be nice, but the control scheme is quite lovely - it was easy to move precisely. I think this game suffered from a case of more scope than time.

Lurker by Octoborg 2010-12-26T15:58:00

That was fun and adorable and a great exploration of a new concept. (I've never seen teleportation in a stealth game before, and you managed to make it fairly balanced)

Pickup by ranklar 2010-12-26T15:35:00

Simple pattern recognition but with women who sound like they're being forced to talk to you! Just like my love life. :D (Also, did you take all of those pictures within the 48 hours? Because I'm wondering how you managed to get Susan's picture the number one image result for "firefox shirt" already!)

Very Lonely In A Spaceship by tusongtupa 2010-12-26T15:27:00

Tilde is a bad choice. When I realized that's what you would have chosen I ended up plugging in another keyboard, and that's more effort than most people would have done. Appears to be an unfinished toy, not a game.

Universal Conquest by Endurion 2010-12-26T15:12:00

grraaaah that vehicle sound will be in my nightmares tonight. I spent a while gathering zinc under the assumption that I would be sent back to the ship when I ran out of oxygen. Nope, I died. Which had the consequence of me not wanting to play anymore because I lost everything I had :(

Lost Races' Abandoned Artifact Recovery by eli 2010-12-26T15:02:00

I think the biggest mistake you made in the game design was assuming that players would make new piles for each artifact. I just moved my one pile from each artifact to the next, and this never gained much alien attention. Top notch audio.

DisGRAVery by Spunkmeyer 2010-12-26T14:57:00

Ouch, that's hard. I realllllly love the concept. Unfortunately the challenge made me quit, but not because it's a bad game! I'm just not hardcore enough. Full marks for innovation, excellent job!

Here Be Monsters! by ethankennerly 2010-12-25T15:59:00

Dying was no punishment against my 500 gold treasury! I got 100% explored, heck yeah! PoV described the Fun category as "Did you look up at the clock, and found it was 5 hours later?" That's this game. Great work. (Also, I felt like the world map was just the right size - captured the largeness of a whole planet while still being doable)

This Is Digger by txa-ea 2010-12-25T15:22:00

I only noticed after the third level that the music had stopped playing. Which was fine, it didn't really make an impression on me. So, 3 stars for audio. Gameplay-wise, the difficulty ramping needed to be increased - enemies were way too easy to dodge, and it just became strip-mining simulator 2011. Graphics were okay. Overall, two stars for effort.

Pretty funny, actually. Some of the things it came up with.. If you'd added a way to see what the word you'd missed was, it'd actually be a pretty fun game of "try to figure out what that silly Sam is saying". As it is, I have to give it a 3/5 overall. You get higher points for a good concept!

Discovery Shuttle Defender by FatherGoblin 2010-12-25T03:42:00

I got it to work. It's not too complicated, it's just more effort than people were probably willing to put out. The graphics were actually not too bad, and the audio was charmingly low quality. Unfortunately the gameplay was decent at best. Overall, I give it a three out of five. Good work!

Looney Ladders by SethR 2010-12-24T18:13:00

You live up to your name, mrfun. In that this game is fun. Yes. Can't give you much points for theme, but I very much enjoyed the rest of the game - and your level generator is fantastic. I only even realized the levels were generated about 5 levels in. They felt like they were designed by a human - a sadistic human that hates children.

Alphabet Trader by devinmoore 2010-12-24T17:52:00

plixel by asfdfdfd 2010-12-24T15:45:00

This game was kinda fun but felt really unfair. I think it was because as time passed you lose light, which made it harder to explore and get what you needed to give you more time. Kind of a slippery slope effect.

Completely trial and error, which wasn't as amusing as it had sounded.

Space Station by iPope 2010-12-21T01:08:00

I have only two complaints:
1) the choice of having the main character as a pixel is charming and interesting, but makes it hard to distinguish objects that aren't large.
2) It feels like you finished the movement and exploration stuff, made the map, and then ran out of time before you made it fun. It was enjoyable for a little bit, I suppose, but I was left feeling kind of disappointed.

Improv by localcoder 2010-12-21T00:59:00

I enjoyed this a lot! It was silly and really abstract but charming and fun. Not really sure how it fits into the Discovery theme, but it was good anyway.

Lost by Gigacat 2010-12-21T00:47:00

Those sound effects hurt! D:
Graphics had a charmingly hand-drawn quality to them. They weren't beautiful, but they were good enough and you could tell what everything was. I agree with what others have said about the challenge.

Land Ho! by brandonman 2010-12-20T21:13:00

I kept getting stuck on islands and slowly shot to death. By stuck, I mean being "beached" and having none of my combinations of movement keys getting me out. The graphics weren't the best, and I can't rate the audio as I don't have the bandwidth to wait for a 44 MB (!) download. I understand the idea behind having changes in movement not be instant, but considering the amount of cannonballs flying about I think this game would be more fun if I had a realistic chance of dodging them.

Hat Quest by FireSlash 2010-12-20T21:03:00

Collision was a bit finicky, but maybe that's just me. The floaty jumping was pretty maddening, and the progression of difficulty was frustrating. But, I enjoyed myself while I played, and even though it wasn't engrossing per se I liked it. (also, I liked the sound effects and music)

Caveman Eric: Dark Times by Bezza 2010-12-20T20:33:00

It's a good game with an amusing premise, but it's major failing, is, well..

I suggest you read this article (well, review): http://www.vectorstorm.org/2010/01/12/vvvvvv/

In the section, "Dying is fun!" it explains my main issue with this game. To wit: Make dying less frustrating and the game can be much more entertaining while keeping the same level of difficulty. In fact, if you take out the lives system, I would enjoy this a lot more.

Good job, otherwise!

UNSS Pasteur - Search for a Cure by MrPhil 2010-12-20T20:19:00

On my first try the planet with the cure was right next to Earth. Convenient!
On my second try I died from trying to land a party in secret.

Some slightly buggy collisions with walls at points, but otherwise an enjoyable, short distraction! I love the art style you've got going there.
