LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Tiny Dungeon by Kortuga 2014-12-08T04:23:00

A nice array of items! Liked the dark, creepy feel. The torches were pretty cool.

I would love it if you could move smoothly by holding keys, instead of having to tap for each motion. Include a UI so players can see what tool they're using currently? I got a bit confused.

Well done.

Snowball Fight by devshawn 2014-12-08T03:57:00

Having the same download problem. Cannot run.

Beast Master by LionelJitro 2014-12-08T05:21:00

Couldn't figure out the second contract... maybe include more of a tutorial?

Like the art, and the music is a nice touch.

Down with Bio by sockfolder 2014-12-09T05:16:00

Pretty fun! I liked the mechanic-- dash attacking to destroy the pillars was an interesting feature.

It would be great if the little green enemies were taller/more visible: I had trouble seeing them amongst the rubble on the first floor.

PicoMachines by Salamander3 2014-12-08T04:02:00

This game has some problems. Maybe needs a little tutorial? I pressed space bar and then couldn't see where I was going for a long time. The collisions between cars is fun!

Mini Minotaur by ljdp 2014-12-09T05:25:00

Wow! That was terrifying!

Really fun and interesting game you've made here-- once you get the hang of it, shifting the maze around is pretty fun. Excellent use of sound. Very spooky.

Tyrannicide by koujaku 2014-12-08T07:45:00

Pretty cool mechanic-- I like the teleport/attack rhythm of the fighting. This could be turned into a cool longer game.

However, I got stuck on walls while jumping, and enemies didn't start attacking me until the 3rd level.

Not sure how this fits the "one screen" theme though...

Meaty Tears by Zwergesel 2014-12-08T03:46:00

I liked the music, and the controls are nice and responsive.

The difficulty is frustrating, however. There doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason to the level design.

Kerfuffle by rabbit 2014-12-08T05:58:00

Graphics and audio are killer. Controls are satisfying-- I like how the characters freeze a bit the moment before they attack, and the "thud" of the little dead guys sliding around is muy bueno.

The Barely Competent Thief by Vacso 2014-12-09T16:51:00

I get a "Java Exception Has Occurred" error when I try to run this for windows.

cover by thristhart 2014-12-08T05:32:00

A pleasant experience. Some ambient audio would have been nice, especially for a game this atmospheric.

THE ONE SCREEN by falcon11445 2014-12-09T17:09:00

Fun platformer! I liked the all caps comments pressuring you to complete the game, those were pretty funny.

Don't Eat The Damsel by intersectiongames 2014-12-10T00:21:00

Very nice art. Maybe try to take advantage of that by imposing the text on the image (so that the player can see both at once?)

Keep Watching by Ken Scott 2014-12-09T06:14:00

Interesting concept (and defiant of the theme! This game is the definition of a game taking place on multiple screens hahaha.)

As other commenters have noted, I would have liked for the action on the screens to be a little more exciting. Having the player freeze when slashing made the combat not very exciting.

The Second Thought or Please, Don't Touch Anything by Four Quarters 2014-12-09T05:09:00

Pretty cool! I wish there was a bit more rhyme or reason to the button combinations (or maybe I'm just an idiot), but I enjoyed finding the various creepy endings. The upside down inverted city was very creepy.

Overall, very well done with respect to atmosphere: graphics, sound, and themes come together in a good way.

Nixtopia by Saker Games 2014-12-09T17:02:00

Solid little escape game! I liked the battery puzzle, and hiding from the robot on the first floor was an unexpected by cool touch.

Coloring by RevoluGame 2014-12-09T06:09:00

A pleasant puzzle game. Similar to 2048. Took me a while to get used to the color spectrum. I liked that you included very clear instructions!

One Screen Story by BK-TN 2014-12-10T00:25:00

Pretty cool concept here, but your control scheme was a bit frustrating. Why not just let the player control with the arrow keys?

Harpoon Raccoon by mahu 2014-12-10T00:18:00

This game lives up to its name, and for that, I appreciate it.

2.5Dino Arena by loopinlouie 2014-12-09T05:19:00

I liked it! Shooting those dinos was an experience. It would be nice to be able to see how much health you have.

Veggie Wars by nexyon 2014-12-08T05:14:00

I like how you can "swing" with your hands. I was playing when there was no one else online, so I didn't get to see any of the battle stuff.

Sound effects aren't the best.

Nanaina by Steffan 'Ruirize' James 2014-12-09T05:04:00

I liked the feel of the game-- very shadowy. The random generation is pretty cool too. Sometimes I got stuck, though-- which was frustrating with no way to restart.

Super Start World by calavera 2014-12-08T05:28:00

Very funny. Loved that you can purchase "gems" to speed up the game. The Manjual was amazing. Very strange little dude.

I laughed! Well done.

Summoned by jelly 2014-12-09T06:03:00

Very funky. Nice (and bizarre) visuals. I like the "summon platforms" mechanic.

It's a little hard to tell where to jump-- judging depth is kind of tricky.

A MAZE inc by 5you 2014-12-08T04:29:00

Very impressive graphics and music. I like the concept (a single, mutable level.)

Ran into a few glitches when I respawned after I died (enemies spawned outside the map/instantly exploded.) Also, it's pretty easy to get stuck on walls.

Dabug by Devark 2014-12-08T03:55:00

Really great. Maybe add a few more powerups to give it a little more variety and make it more clear when a player loses a life. Overall awesome

Spirit of Nakagawa by sorceress 2014-12-10T00:15:00

Pretty fun! Enjoyed the wacky physics. Bizarre dialog was a plus.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

grow or burn by Silvio 2015-12-15T10:54:00

I couldn't get past the starting screen in the web version.

Morse GRO by GAFBlizzard 2015-12-14T10:04:00

Pretty unique concept here! Teaching morse code in a game is neat-- educational!

Beardgrow by esayitch 2015-12-14T09:53:00

Really exceptionally polished. Social commentary game on fleek, writing and sound is great. I did find the controls a little difficult, and having the cheerleader, with her huge penalty, so near the room made things unpleasant for me.

In terms of attention to detail and polish I don't know what more you could want from a LD game!

Harmony Bloom by Bensonance 2015-12-15T11:35:00

Very pretty-- the graphics reminded me of Superbrothers, Sword and Sworcery, which is a very good thing.

Found it a little tricky to understand what was going on at first.

Impressive!

Uni Ika by cinnamonmelonpig 2015-12-14T12:05:00

Fantastic! I love the way the bird wiggles his arms to the beat. This game looks really really great-- not sure what more you could want from a compo submission!

Snowball Extravaganza by mackthehobbit 2015-12-14T11:09:00

A good time. Hope I never in a house that can be taken down by tossing snowballs.

The katamari vibe is well placed here!

I like your graphics. The little goblins tunneling out of the ground are fun, and those are some nice jaggedy purple mountains you have in the background there.

Was there audio??

The Life of John by jackyjjc 2015-12-14T12:01:00

Very interesting idea here-- I love this design. It reminds me of the card game Dominion a bit, where cards you draw can shuffle bad cards into your deck.

EvolutionSandbox by togo 2015-12-14T11:01:00

Was not expecting to see an evolutionary computing sandbox here! Pretty cool!

Aligned Destruction by Mano 2015-12-15T11:18:00

Control scheme works very smoothly, nice work with a tricky theme. Music is good, fits nicely.

Well done!

Someone Who Isn't Mario Teaches How Not to Type by TCP786 2015-12-15T10:41:00

The music for this game is so on point.

Gameplay is a good idea (it would be really nice if you could die and automatically go back!)

It's refreshing to play a game that doesn't infringe on any copyrights.

SILooET by Pantelis Petsopoulos 2015-12-14T11:43:00

Very atmospheric-- the graphics and audio (and that creepy title screen!) work together well.

I found the gameplay simple to understand and enjoyable.

Well done!

Snake Blaster by A.W. Apps 2015-12-14T11:29:00

I quite like this! The combat system is fun, graphics and sfx fit the vibe just right. The variety of weapons is great.

Dragonic by jsmars 2015-12-15T10:36:00

Graphics are fantastic-- really really impressive!

Design wise, I don't think it was a good decision to tie getting hurt to advancing in the game. Getting hurt allows the dragon to grow up (which seems good) but then you also are destroyed if you're hurt too much? Maybe if there was a way you could grow that was independent of being damaged the game would be more intuitive.

Let It Grow! by retrogradeorbit 2015-12-15T11:50:00

Stylish and addicting.

Bicephalisnake by tphx 2015-12-14T10:36:00

I can't run this game, unfortunately, I just wanted to comment that you missed a golden opportunity to title this game "Bicepha-snake," which just rolls of the tongue a little better.

Wish I could play! Looks fun!

Terror Plant from outer Space by Tetha 2015-12-14T10:20:00

I love board games, so it's great to see the format represented in LD. Once I got the hang of the game, I had a good time sending out swathes of vines to choke out nearby villages and mountains!

Clearer instructions would have helped the learning curve-- I didn't understand that you could stockpile evoPoints. Maybe I was just stupid though!

*Also, TaoPhoenix, I caught you calling those little plants saprolings, you Magic man you.*

FLOW by Romixal 2015-12-14T10:46:00

Sound design is, as others have set, pretty fantastic. The whole game has a fantastic atmosphere.

The frame rate on the web version was punishing though.

SWOOP/POOP by Foofanoo42 2015-12-14T10:35:00

God, yet another game about swooping and pooping.

Just kidding. Swoop/Poop was a first for me. The title is very honest, for I did swoop and I did poop. At one point the statue I was pooping on stopped counting my poops, but that's okay. I'm not in it for the money, I'm in it for the joy of the swoop.

Flower Son by Stephen Patrick 2015-12-17T12:22:00

Good stuff, hombre! You can tell you put a lot of effort into puzzle/level design, and that totally shows

Stardust by Charzendat 2015-12-14T11:22:00

An interesting idea here... I like the design, but I found the controls hard to use. It's tough to do such an exact task -- like pounding nails with a sledgehammer! It might be easier if the chemicals drifted around randomly a little more, so you had better odds of finding them outside of groups.

Good stuff!

PlantBoy by siObyte 2015-12-14T11:18:00

Damn, it's pretty cool that you're capable of doing something like this in two days!

Jail Jammers by Cyranh 2015-12-14T10:57:00

Frame rate on the web player was tough, and unfortunately that's the only way I can play. Graphics are looking great though!

Growing light by Schurtz 2015-12-15T12:08:00

Very nice!

Gravity Glutton by ChristianBraun 2015-12-14T10:27:00

The shooting mechanic is pretty cool-- it's an interesting take on aiming, and graphics look crunchy!

Gameplay wise, things got out of hand when I gained more mass though-- I just constantly pressed the shoot button and shot in all directions at once. I instantly nuked everything around me and grew huge and invincible quickly!

Growing Circles by RoynLimb 2015-12-17T11:42:00

Great job on your first game, internet stranger! Hope it's the first of many.

GURU by TomenLuca 2015-12-15T11:15:00

Excellent!

Space Amoebas by sanojian 2015-12-14T11:45:00

Impressive concept, but I found the controls a bit difficult.

GrowGridGrow by Zealous Coder 2015-12-17T12:17:00

Interesting concept-- hope you finish it!

Snake Dog by Waynetron 2015-12-14T11:36:00

Well, that is one cute little snake dog.

Fantastic art. Sketchy sketch!
