LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Color Is Everything. by csanyk 2014-12-12T03:23:00

YOU'VE UPLOADEA

The Paper Dance by TravisChen 2014-12-12T04:24:00

Very polished and interesting idea - good job!

Super Snow Girl by Christina Antoinette Neofotistou 2014-12-12T03:37:00

Art and pallet are great. Would have loved to have seen more animations though.

Screen Mover by Sh1rogane 2014-12-12T03:35:00

great use of the theme imo but other than that it's just an average platformer ...

To Continue by raincole 2014-12-11T07:29:00

Really enjoyed this. Great idea for a game.

UON by cabezotta 2014-12-10T07:08:00

Great game. Seems like somebody else has had the exact same idea though :P

bricky block by quaternary 2014-12-12T03:15:00

Runs smoothly and looks polished but is almost too like 2048.

Avoid Rage by jackrugile 2014-12-08T02:07:00

Simple yet addicting concept - wish I thought of this! Looks really clean and polished as well. Nice work!

Spiral Wings by Joe Williamson 2014-12-14T00:21:00

Stellar graphics and animation. Sound synced up really nicely as well. This isn't much by way of a game though ... Either way, very well polished and if anything, it's a work of art.

Law Breaker by deepnight 2014-12-09T01:18:00

I love the graphics and music. It's so polished and beautiful. It would have been nice to have something differentiating your car from others though, especially when I brush past a same coloured car. The police cars shooting through walls was a bit unfair imo but I guess the game would have been too easy without that. Great work!

Nooo Bath Time!!! by Gabbmonkey 2014-12-08T10:59:00

Poor baby! Funny but controls can be a little awkward. There's no increase in difficulty from what I played so it got a little repetitive. Sounds and graphics weren't bad though, good work!

Velcro by camlang 2014-12-10T00:07:00

Love how the music is in sync with the game. Really fun and polished, great job!

Man on the Field by Double Zero One Zero 2014-12-09T23:43:00

Loved this - great game!

A Fine White Line by Taunia Sabanski 2014-12-11T06:03:00

Aesthetic of this game is beautiful and the sound adds so much to the mood, especially towards the end of the time limit. I have a few suggestions though: I wasn't able to clearly tell which walls were solid due to everything being drawn as white lines and hence kept bumping into things I thought I could walk through. The items also didn't stand out against everything else in the background - I'd suggest maybe you could highlight them when your mouse is hovering above an item so I know I can click it - just some simply quality of life tweaks. Controls were smooth and it was a very good use of the theme. Awesome game overall!

The Bathhouse Wars is complete by Wendell 2014-12-12T03:51:00

The web link links to a download ... Funny as hell game though, don't drop the soap!

Hook Up by imagine_cocos 2014-12-12T03:54:00

Considering this is a Compo entry, I'm not sure the music from One Piece is allowed ... other than great graphics and funny gameplay. Reminds me a lot of Paper Toss.

Cuberot by guldlock 2014-12-12T04:12:00

I'm thoroughly impressed by the graphics. The cube rotation mechanic was cool too. Considering how short the game was, it might have been nice to include a little background on who the character was and why he needed to collect the keys - 'a tiny creature in an unknown place' just doesn't suffice for me. This is really polished though - animation, graphics, the movement, all of it is so clean and player friendly. Music really added to the atmosphere and mood you tried to create as well. Would really like to see this game expanded upon post LD. Perhaps a larger variety of puzzles and more cubes or other shapes!

Dabug by Devark 2014-12-08T02:50:00

Thanks for all the feedback! Glad you guys are enjoying it. :D

@krain, I've asked a lot of people to try the game out and none of them, including me, has gotten an error. Where did it happen and how?

Dabug by Devark 2014-12-08T03:03:00

@karlinpoppins, sorry fixed that now!

@YM, that actually sounds like a good idea. I had a lot more ideas for the campaign version but simply ran out of time. Hmm... the game should keep getting harder until around 30000, but if you reach that high it gets really hectic.

Thanks for all the feedback!

Dabug by Devark 2014-12-11T05:47:00

@Kitch, it was originally created for keyboard only (you can actually still use the arrow keys - it's just not part of the official controls), but following unanimous feedback from mates, the keyboard controls were scrapped for the current alternative, which received much better feedback.

I'm so stoked that everyone's mostly been enjoying this! Makes the sacrificed sleep worth it :p

SIRTET by stray 2014-12-09T07:50:00

Loved this. One of my favourites so far. Very clever, simple, clean and addictive.

CUBE Clicker by Polyganz 2014-12-09T07:30:00

Clicking adds no real difference late game despite the name 'Cube Clicker". This looks brilliant but lacks variety and any real interactivity. It's extremely and strangely addictive though. Seems to be no better strategy than to keep doubling the h-sphere's output.

Currently I'm on -4.7 billion a second and my score's -66 billion and falling ... All my hard work for nothing! :P I can't buy anymore upgrades ...

Orion by feiss 2014-12-12T03:42:00

Great entry, really polished!

LD33 — You are the Monster

U no take Loot! by Orni 2015-08-24T10:00:00

Charming pixel art style and lots of screenshake (which is always good :D). Would have been nice to get a little more feedback when damaging enemies. Interesting idea with the gold triggering traps. Overall really nice.

Takodemon by Split82 2015-08-24T11:54:00

I love this idea so much! And so much polish in just 7 hours ... congrats on such a well made gem!

Separated by rxi 2015-09-04T08:16:00

Simple but polished. Has a nice, eerie mood created through the music and lighting.

Death of a Lich by managore 2015-08-24T09:37:00

Beautifully presented game with an interesting idea. The game is a bit too hard or maybe i'm just really bad at it, but the controls are presented in a way which i'm not having a great time learning to use them well. I like the mechanics though, and you are definitely rewarded for being dextrous. The text at the bottom wasn't immediately noticeable given the size compared to the large game window but everything looked so polished and clean. Your games never fail to impress :D

Grave by uheartbeast 2015-08-24T09:19:00

Lovely aesthetic. I love your style of pixel art. Even though it was frustrating, I enjoyed getting blown back by that huge titan. Those spiraling exp orbs also bring me back to your Deep Magic days (old fan here). The game feels really nice and rewards skill, while also punishing mal-timed and greedy swings. Also screenshake! (Y)

DRUMSTER by SoulGame 2015-09-07T12:48:00

Really well polished game. Looks, sounds and feels great. Especially loved the animations of the drummers. Good job on syncing it all.

The Bear Hunter by Devark 2015-08-24T09:12:00

@crare, thanks for playing! The spammed arrows also deal less damage. The intention was to reward players for drawing the bow back further which meant if you couldn't spam the arrows, there wouldn't be much to compare the strongest level of draw to. Glad you enjoyed it!

The Bedroom Nasty by thejinx 2015-08-24T10:30:00

Smooth controls though the camera was a bit erratic. Eye movements on the monster were charming. Sound was very nice and clean too. The inconsistent scaling of the graphics was a little off-putting though. Cool game overall!

Dude, Stop by Patomkin 2015-08-31T14:16:00

Excellent game, and hilarious :')

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

99 Steps by George 2015-12-14T05:33:00

Simple, clean and polished - love it! The obstacles were a bit annoying to wait for though, considering the aim is to get as low a time as possible, other than great work! (santa hat was a nice touch).

Harvest by rxi 2015-12-14T04:54:00

Cute art style ... but those poor, helpless bunnies! Camera can be shaky at times but this was really well made, awesome job!

You only get one vote. by eigenbom 2015-12-14T05:01:00

I voted button B and want my money back! jkjk, hahaha i saw this after the themes got announced and shed a tear of joy :')

JUMPR by Supernaught 2015-12-17T22:01:00

Great feel, music and graphics. the controls are really tight, though I feel like the constant horizontal movement is there only to fit the theme. it adds a layer of unnecessary difficulty to me - I'd have preferred normal platforming controls. the game is really polished though, the exploding crate effect is super satisfying! Great job!

Longbeard by Joe Williamson 2015-12-15T05:39:00

Amazing artwork and great concept. Has a lot of potential. Awesome job as always!

Life Is Short by ShaunJS 2015-12-14T04:24:00

Interesting take on the theme and scoring system. I died at 52 having trained to perfection, travelled far and wide and then buried with 192 gold!

Lifenodes. by Remicy 2015-12-14T04:56:00

Great take on the theme. Simple and well executed.

Bitrun by Devark 2015-12-18T10:20:00

Thank you all so much for the feedback! Pretty much all of the issues you guys have pointed out have been addressed in the post-compo version. Please do check it out! I'm currently working on adding more features to the game so watch out for more updates to come!

LD36 — Ancient Technology

Cronus' Tomb by Mr_Field 2016-08-30T01:39:00

This game's really polished. Love the artstyle. Only qualm would be the controls. It's quite easy to get overwhelmed by enemies and traps. Other than that, good job!

Supercontinent Ltd by Deconstructeam 2016-08-31T00:35:00

audiovisuals are great! really polished with a neat premise. nice work!

R. Lastey, archaeologist by Aurel Bílý 2016-08-30T01:29:00

Love the design and artwork, this is a charming little game!

cognizance by managore 2016-08-31T00:27:00

really polished and beautiful game. mechanics offer a good challenge and the platforming is really clean. amazing job!

Avastory by Devark 2016-08-31T11:42:00

@justinooncx, yeah ... I pretty much did this solo except for the music so unfortunately there isn't enough content to make the narrative meaningful yet (I just didn't have enough time). I really underestimated how long it takes simply create levels...

@danae123, thanks so much! And thanks for the tweets! I couldn't find your twitch though, would love to see the vods!

@jwatt, I didn't have time to add anything after the boss battle... it wasn't the last thing i programmed so I had to go back and do everything else to make the game coherent and then I was out of time. The game was inspired by elements of Undertale, Cave Story and Iji (by Daniel Remar aka Ultimortal) as well as a little bit of Miyazaki's Laputa: Castle in the Sky (well originally it was anyway). I've never actually played metroid thoroughly haha. With anything narrative based though, there really isn't enough time in 3 days to create something people can empathise with and invest in deeply... Maybe something mechanics focussed would be better for a game jam, but I just want to make what I want to make haha.

And thank you everyone else for the all the feedback so far everyone!
