Whoa nice game! I fell in love with the quality of the rogue-like pixel graphics. Definitely well polished on that side, for a Jam.

For the game-play, I would also say it is concise and fits well, the fighting system is pretty good.

I love the level design! Its fun and challenging, and with the shift of the music, its amazing! I love it. It can be a bit frustrating at times with no level save, it made me want to give up.

I'd give this a 9/10! Nice job ;)

This game's really polished. Love the artstyle. Only qualm would be the controls. It's quite easy to get overwhelmed by enemies and traps. Other than that, good job!

Thanks for the lovely comments guys, I was feeling pretty spooked that most people would hate it because it's pretty clunky and hard. This is the first time I've made a game like this, so it's definitely been a learning experience.
I'm glad you could enjoy it. :)

It is a difficult game but I got very into it. The pixel art looks really polish. I found a bug, when you defeat the first boss it drops a red orb, if I kill it when its hanging from the top the orb spawn there and I can't reach it :(. Hope you keep improving it, Great Job.

Hi, nice game and congratulations ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.

By far one of the most impressive games I've seen in this jam! Great art and sound, fun gameplay, and very well-polished! I couldn't progress after the boss because I killed her outside the screen and she dropped her gem outside, though. Other than that, excellent work!

I love the art style and music, but I find the combat a bit too hard. This is a problem when forced to fight in a tight area. Overall, the game is good, but I could not get passed the first few rooms.

mrfield 2016-08-30 09:57

I heard a lot of issues where people were losing the first relic when killing the first boss, this, alongside some other final boss bugs, should hopefully be fixed now. Thanks again for the lovely comments. :)

Loved the sprite art! But gameplay was a little hard, and I got stuck outside the arena after the first boss (Empusa?)

cushycode 2016-08-30 13:45

Love the artstyle, kinda reminds me of the old final fantasies in places.

mateus-culpo 2016-08-30 15:40

Nice game,
It was a fun experience

mateus-culpo 2016-08-30 15:54

Very good music of the puzzle

amine-tcherak 2016-08-30 16:39

Realy cool game good job

pixelstuff 2016-08-30 18:23

Nice game, the polishing is great and the game experience was fun! Great work!

Unfortunately I cannot run your 64 bit executable on my 32 bit system.

ghostbomb 2016-08-30 22:23

Incredibly well polished and vivid game for just 68 hours. I imagine you have a lot of developing experience outside of Ludum Dare?

I actually felt kind of bad for the second boss. He really was trying his best.

metalhaze 2016-08-30 23:08

Awesome game! I liked the overall aesthetic and gameplay. The dungeons were really cool; the traps and puzzles were very interesting. I really enjoyed the music as well.

Great job!

decentsauce 2016-08-30 23:58

Very well done! Wish I could make such a cool game in 68 hours. :p My only issues with the game were the sound puzzle(too long) and dodging enemies felt hard sometimes. I think this might be because it's hard to predict were exactly the enemy will attack and your regular movement is a bit slow. Because of this it felt a bit unfair that there weren't any checkpoints. Still besides all the nitpicking a very nice entry!

akai_0okami 2016-09-01 23:42

This is a really awesome game! I loved the art style and the greek mythology theme. The music was pretty good as well. I found the combat a little difficult and ended up using the cheat. I liked the puzzles and traps too, overall this is a great game.

tedajax 2016-09-03 17:29

Very very impressive for a game jam game. The art is great and the ambition of the game design is commendable. Combat works pretty well but some hit boxes are pretty brutal (the axes hit you throughout their entire swing despite appearing to be "up" and out of your way) and in general things are a bit difficult (I suspect you played a lot of your own game and got quite good at it c:). The (first? only?) boss fight was really tough and I ended up giving up. Does a lot of damage and doesn't really telegraph where she'll appear very well. Overall though this is an absolutely impressive entry and a great base to build an amazing game from!

tedajax 2016-09-03 17:29

Oh and I really liked the music puzzle that was cool! Wish the lights that indicated you got the right note were a little brighter and easier to see but otherwise was neat!

seconddimension 2016-09-03 20:13

I loved the music puzzle and the overall atmosphere, it has a really professional feel to it. The combat and animation was tight, although a little difficult with the controls (proably my only negative about the whole games). Audio visual stuff all high quality

frump 2016-09-05 07:38

Very cool. Nice art and music, good amount of content. I beat the whole thing, with some cheating. Gamepad controls would have been nice. I didn't understand the mechanics of the final boss fight, but I figured them out and beat him. Awesome job.

crimson713 2016-09-15 15:56

Great game!
The pixel art is very nice and the music is just amazing. Using it for the music puzzle was a great idea. The enemies are nicely designed as well. I liked the difficulty, but would prefer not to have to do the entire dungeon again just to retry Empusa. :P
The only thing I found a bit weird was the camera which moved a bit strangely in the central room.
Also, I don't know if I did something wrong, but after getting the gem from the south door and opening the north door I couldn't find something to do. Am I missing something?

mrfield 2016-09-15 16:30

@Crimson713 Do I do the @ thing? I saw someone else do it. Uh, anyway, I didn't explain it very well, since I had to rush the end boss to get it done in time, but when you enter the large door to the north, there's two pillar things in the room, you're supposed to rotate the left one by slashing it, and stab the colours that are represented on the right pillar in order, you then go over to the right pillar to stab it. I hope this helps you out, I'm glad you could enjoy it. :)

Robin 'sod off' Field, I'm impressed, nice work, you've got so much in this game, so much quality stuff!
Graphics, look great! check.
Sound, yep got sound effects! check.
Dialog/story, check.
Game play, check.
Content, traps, puzzles, baddies, mini bosses, bosses! Awesome! check.
Music, check!

Good timing for heals after completing rooms. Unfortunately I didn't beat the first boss (personal time restraints, and not wanting to attempt to complete the western/left route a third/fourth time).

Well rounded, fun, challenging, nice atmosphere/feeling. Great work!
