Couldn't figure this out at all, sorry
Similar to the first level of Spore, but in some ways better, as your abilities are directly related to your shape. Excellent way of dealing with evolution and creature editing. Nice audio and atmosphere
Not sure if I didn't get far enough but some extra weapons or powerups would have been good, it seems like the enemies would have changed if I got further though? The controls felt good, really responsive.
So much imagination here, nice design too. I think my life is better with this in it, so thank you
Great controls, the dodging was good and I liked the colour changing mechanic. Made it interesting to play
This is excellent, really good atmosphere only lacking some decent audio. The gameplay was difficult but very interesting, I had real fun trying to figure out how to handle each of the guys. I hope you keep working on this
Nice feel to the jumping, although a bit frustrating for me. Your original idea was crazy ambitious! Good work for a 15-hour game jam
Wow this was insane, but in a good way. Who doesn't enjoy sending a T-Rex to punch a nun in the face? Lots of content here, I think a mini-RTS with different units and tech-tree is very impressive in 72hrs. I like the theme too, but then I'm a Darwin extremist
So hard, I think your game was punishing me for the bad things I've done (how do you know about those?) Seriously this was great, a nice game experience with the extra polish; nice UI, menus, options etc. I really liked the Star Fox team aspect as well, good voice acting and overall characterisation. I always like games with distinctive characters, especially when they have slightly different stats or gameplay.
Nice platformer and good level-changing mechanic. The audio was fantastic too; gave it a really feeling of momentum. In fact having the blocks move in time with the music would have been cool. Good job overall
Always interesting to watch these type of simulations
I got to the end boss but I was so powered up that it took ages to charge my shot, which was tough. Still overall fantastic game, one of favourites in terms of having a nice consistent visual style.
Really great atmosphere, a nice place to spend some time. Audio and visuals worked well together. Excellent overall. I liked the artsy approach but equally would love to play a more traditional game that looked and sounded like this
I enjoyed the simulation side of this, it was quite hard to affect the game enough to win, but I liked the idea of making creatures immune to other strains or killing them etc. High marks for theme and innovation
Beautiful game, I kind of wanted more time to soak up the atmosphere. I think an expanded game with this setting and creature design would be fantastic, if you weren't running all the time there would be a real sense of wonder as you explored and discovered the creatures
I liked the exploration nature of this, it was a strange place full of interesting things. Like others I was a bit put off but a lot of deaths early on, but the quicksave thing does help with that. Music was good and added to the feel of the game as well
Interesting idea, I wish I wasn't so terrible so I could be the best dinosaur. I thought this showed some good game design, great imagination and a lot of humour. Nice work
Just shouted to my wife in the other room, "Hey honey, I'm a Dinosaur and I'm Ninja kicking a bunch of asteroids to save the mice!"
Thanks for giving me that opportunity
I would have liked more fluid controls, but I thought this was a great concept. I think if the idea was developed further and linked with an interesting visual style, then this could be a great little game
If anyone knew what was happening I'd like to know, a somewhat compelling atmosphere but mostly confusion
Really cool idea, fun to play, nice clean art style. Top marks
Cool idea, I liked the little text faces the computer made in the opening sequence. Beating up toasters was also fun. Every fitted together really well
Yeah I liked this one, bit of rush when they all multiply at the start, then quite fun trying to back them into corners and clear the lab, then a good chase tofinish off the last few
Aagh I want to be a Monkey, stupid humans! Yes this was good fun, thanks!
Fantastic visuals
Great idea! I love seeing the creature at the end, and figuring stuff out like the Jackhammer and jetpack
Controls and difficulty destroyed me unfortunately, but I really liked the music
Thumbs up to the paleontologist sprite, that guy was an adorable 8bit mining machine. Good fun idea, enjoyed it
I was really enjoying it until it got too hard, felt like I was fighting the controls a bit. Still I like the way the graphics and challenged evolved, and that it evolved with you learning the platform.
This was so awesome, played it to the end and enjoyed every second. The movement was solid and the idea behind evolving different abilities to get the stars was inspired (plus I found the easter egg, yes!). It was exactly right in terms of combining logic puzzles and platforming. Seriously, well done, top marks from me
Good first effort, looking forward to seeing your game for the next Ludum Dare. Keep at it!
Interesting and different idea. it was really tough having to go off the screen though.. I couldn't get pas the first level
Couldn't get past the fat guys, just too hard for me. Still I really liked the atmosphere, felt similar to the old single room platformers like Manic Miner.
Good dog (pats on head)
Nice platformer, I played for ages to watch the level evolves, it kind of lulled me into a trance (in a good way)
What a strange little game, I like it but I can't explain why...
If Only I'd known about Q! I really enjoyed playing that, evolution system worked really well and lots of variety
Nice idea, good take on the theme
I really enjoyed this one, played it for longer than a lot of the games I've tried. The minimalist style worked well, I thought the mood was good. Fun shooter overall, very nice work
Had a few issues with placing my towers, but once I got them down it all worked well
Looks and sounds very good, I like the idea of evolving your skills to complete the levels, way too hard for me though
Hi, thanks for the feedback. I ran out of DNA myself a few times when testing, so at the last minute I changed it slightly - when you die and and restart a level your DNA gets topped up again to give you a fighting chance. The only way to get more DNA is to evolve the flowers, but you need DNA to do that, probably should have thought of that!
Thanks so much for the feedback, seems like it runs fine for most people, but a few issues. If anyone has problems though I'd be interested to know what you're running it on. Sorry there's no Mac/Linux support.
@ascheaser I agree completely with your feedback, I really would have liked more time to fine-tune the effects of the genome gun. When the deadline was approaching I just had to throw a few effects in there as quick as possible!
@ madpew, glad you liked Endless mode, you're the first one to comment on it :) To get across the bridge you have to teleport onto the turtles with right mouse button
I so desperately wanted to use them mouse to aim, probably because I was getting destroyed though. Overall a good retro shooter, felt nice and solid to play.
I thought it was an interesting idea, it was kind of satisfying to keep the little guy in the air with the jumps. Definitely agree with others that it was frustrating that all you could see was sky, then you'd land on some spikes. Can see a refined version of this being fun on a tablet or phone
Lighting & Music = great atmosphere. I generally love games with exploration or a sense of wonder, so swimming off and finding larger creatures was nice. Good work on this
Nice polished shooter, like the weapon variety and the overall visual style
Really sorry but it just didn't work for me, the mouse cursor stopped moving almost straight away and I couldn't do anything. Seems like you have to bump into the other cells to grow, I liked that idea
Really nice graphics and overall design, just so incredibly frustrating, would loved to have seen past the dinosaur age but the jumps were too unforgiving for me
Nice controls and visual effects, I definitely like the way it all looks. Feels like this could have turned into something really good with more time
Worked well and made me use my brain, nice simple interface that let you get on with solving the puzzles. I liked the variation in block types as well
Great idea, I would like to play a post-compo version where the hunger bar is a little more forgiving, or perhaps you can see the full map to plan the best routes to food etc. Good work overall
Yep, I think this is one of the best LD games I've played so far. Genuinely fun, good evolution of the craft and increase in enemy numbers, great graphics. I have to say I really like the alpha noise, just personal taste but it looked superb on my laptop (using latest Chrome, Windows 7 64bit, I7 processor)
Great idea, liked the combining of block DNA to get to the solution
Very beautiful game, sort of a cross between Okami & Journey on the visual style, like the audio too. With some more levels and variation in gameplay this would be excellent. Well worthy of a post-compo version
Glad I read the tutorial, the most important thing in there for me was the difference between left & right clicking on a seed, once I had that figured out I really enjoyed playing. Nice gentle atmosphere, good music, great use of evolution and a genuinely interesting concept. The pie-chart display is a very elegant way of presenting the differences between seeds. Anyone who is having trouble running this, keep trying as it is definitely worth the effort
Good idea, way too hard for me but still cool. It made me smile, I liked the idea of racing the chameleon
Great game, I just played it through and it does throw up some interesting tactical options; you have to make sure you keep 2 nodes ahead of the slugs, try not to get boxed in, use your armoured guys to protect your node-capturing speedy guy and try not to have 2 of your guys on the same node when attacked. Art style also really stands out, congratulations on the game
Good little game, I was kinda hoping for a mega-palace that filled the whole screen though :) Good job putting upgrades & a shop in
Absolutely brilliant, I really liked that death was just an experience and a chance to go again and better yourself. The upgrades really made sense as well. Great game
Really nice presentation, first level is my favorite as well. Good work
I'm a big map fan too, always spend ages looking through them when I'm reading a book so I can see exactly where the characters are. Anyway; so was it possible to select movements for all 3 bards and then end the turn, or could you only move 1 bard per turn? Overall I really enjoyed the game, I appreciated the chess aspect and like that you kept it simple
Nice graphics and enemy evolution, lot of content in there too
Really polished, fantastic visual style; I would love to see more games look like this. Amazing to make this in 24hrs
Nice idea, I really liked the spites but think a few things could have helped a lot; such as a wolf animation and maybe a border of hedges round the play area. Trying to eat enough to live but not decimate the bunny population was definitely a good use of the evolution theme.
Great game, anything with cats in gets my vote. The laser eyes and top hats made me smile too, good work
The idea of the turrets was a good one, but perhaps a little too unforgiving. I liked the bouncy-spring dudes as well, so the enemy variety was a plus point. The under-powered jump and enemy respawns did make it a bit frustrating though. Overall some good ideas here which could be developed further
Nice entry, really liked the graphics
Wow I played that like 6 times so I could get to the end, and it was worth it! I want to give spoilers but don't worry I won't. Really clever little game, and solid platform movements. Good ending
I enjoyed playing this one, the particle effects were cool too
Really nice, I loved the different types of dodos. Definitely enjoyed playing this one
It makes a lot more sense now I've read your explanation on the evolution possibilities. Nice retro graphics and audio, Good job
Wow, very imaginative, made me wish I had been a little less conventional with my entry. I thought this had a lot of atmosphere, and the humour/weirdness was just my sort of thing. Loved it
Quite simplistic in terms of controls & level design, but the idea of enemies picking up pieces and evolving was excellent. I ended up letting the robots just collect the stuff so I could see how they integrated it into new designs. Definitely worth expanding on this
Really nice audio/visual fell to this, very coherent. Nice idea as well, think it fits well with the theme
Wow seriously great entry here, think you just taught us all a lesson in using simple graphics to achieve nice visuals (well you certainly taught me a lesson). Funny & Interesting take on the theme too, well done
Quite difficult, but a nice game. I liked the terrain and the changing abilities
Impressive achievement! I actually loved the graphics as well, felt like playing Civ with my old Sensible Soccer team
Beautiful, very immersive.
Think I needed more of a tutorial, I was a bit lost for a while, but a really interesting idea. Only card game I've seen so far
Stuff happened fast, I kind of wanted a little time to plan & think about things. Overall I liked it though, nice idea, clean visuals
I did get a bit confused by how it all worked with the menus and so on, but it fits the theme really well, and is definitely an interesting idea. Like the guitar playing too.
Good progression, liked getting out of the water. I didn't mind the graphics, some animations would have been nice though.
Nice idea, found it pretty hard though. Music was fantastic
Really excellent atmosphere, the design works really well and the plot was nice. Fantastic job
Top marks for innovation, didn't expect to be playing a chocolatier sim
Aarrggh so hard! Started inadvertently doing the Wilhelm scream myself every time I died. Points for graphics & sound, lots of content too
I murdered 45 adorable creatures, hooray! This was a fun little game, nice graphics. Creature behaviour did seem to change over time
Hey really excellent platformer! I liked the overall style of the graphics, the platforming was interesting and I really appreciated that the enemies dropped hearts along the way (for people like me who are not that good at platform games). Good work guys
Fantastic game, love the whole side view cut-away thing with the floors, and the little guys had a lot of personality. Like others I found it difficult to progress due to waiting around, although it was a lot easier once I realised you could use the mouse to control the camera. If you don't mind me throwing some suggestions on the controls: I think I would have liked the mouse to be the primary method of dealing out attacks - perhaps some mouse aiming on the sneezing (ranged attack), click on a nearby target for coughing (meleé) and maybe click on a spot and the guy goes there to vomit (area of affect), just an idea though. Hope you keep working on it, it's really great
Good idea, couldn't get the 2nd mutation to work though, how do you go invisible? Fits the theme really well
Ah OK thanks, I'll give it another go. Think my link is fixed now too by the way
I liked the pixel art style, that combined with the audio gave it a nice atmosphere. Would be interested in playing a finished version if you do one
Cool game, graphics were good and I liked having an overhead view of the whole place. I played for a while and enjoyed it, worth some expansion
Well I found it pretty tough, but the idea was fantastic. The visuals were great as well, the ghost was cute and then terrifying. The first few times you pressed Z were cool, when you disguise yourself as stuff. Good work
Everything ran perfect for me except background music (Windows 7-64bit, Chrome).
Nice reversal of classic game, fun to play
Definitely a cool idea and fits well with the theme. The art style is great
I think the idea of having to split up the group is a really good one, definitely could be developer further. Nice graphics too
Very cool idea, a good take on the theme and a decent stealth game that wasn't frustrating. Nice work!
Lovely little game, the graphics were cool and it all fitted together nicely
It's a shame that the whole game was played out on that tiny minimap really, as I thought the car lights moving round the city blocks were cool, but I didn't spend any time looking at them. Still enjoyed playing it for a while
Really cool idea, I enjoyed it. The first screen made me smile
Nice graphics, I liked the stand-back mechanic
Thanks for the comments everyone. I think the criticism that the levels are similar is completely fair, I spent so long on the mechanics that I just couldn't devote enough time to level design.
Also, I'm so happy someone liked the tutorial! (because it took me hours and made me cry a bit)
@Starspell - That's a strange crash, I think the sprite for that laser is heavy on the transparency effects so it could be a graphics card issue. I hope you get it working, thanks for trying anyway
I agree that going backwards was cool, nice take on the theme
I quite like herding games, the whole thing worked well and was pretty solid
Great audio and visuals, good job. I also really liked the intro and the messages at the bottom
This was cool, I really liked the use of particle effects; the wind especially looked awesome. It was great to hit people with lighting and imagine they were that guy that spilt his beer on me during Elbow's set. Boom!
Good ladder mechanics, I always find ladders hard. I liked the idea of fighting the sun
Excellent stuff, I liked the idea of managing the different coloured bars (types of civilization), it meant I chose my lanes with greater care to try and maximise destruction of the leading colour.
I think that idea has real potential in a puzzle game. What would be cool is if the different coloured bars had direct effects within the game; like too much Red meant little military units attacking your monster, too much Blue meant commercial gain so buildings built quicker... something like that. A full version would be worth a purchase on the app store!
I like being a troll and I liked going out in a blaze of glory. Moving round the levels reminded me of Repton, which is always a good thing
It was really fun putting my foot down and watching the speedo keep going all the way round past 200
Cool idea, definitely interesting to be on the other side of that battle!
I think we need more acapella soundtracks
This is such a great concept, I'm not sure I'll find another game that fits the theme as well as this does. To have Monologuing at the captured hero be the main goal... genius. I really like it as a cross-section tower defence game too, not something I've seen too much of. Great old-school style.
Such a polished entry for the 48-hour compo, really impressive. The gameplay items could maybe be balanced a bit better given more time, but it was really fun to watch the outcome. A slightly sad but excellent ending too...
Another great entry, I really love your graphical style. The way the hero explores the dungeon is really believable, and the swarming of the zombies is brilliant
Great graphics, and the whole concept was coherent as well. Solid platform mechanics. I enjoyed the random business speak that came with my budget report. Good work on the blood, carnage and death of fluffy things too!
Dude, did I just give someone explosive cancer? This game was extremely villainous. Not bad for 5 hours. Liked the music
Great game. I liked the sprites a lot, and it did seem like the enemies were hunting me down. I especially liked the sound, I used GarageBand & bfxr for my audio as well. You did a way better job than me on sound effects, they fitted really well.
Really nice mood to this, I liked the graphics and the idea behind it. I got stuck quite early on though, a walkthough would be cool. Had fun finding all the references. Also +1 filmgrain point. Games need more filmgrain.
This really made me smile, nice graphics and a great take on theme.
Really good entry! I liked the checkpoints, the particles on destroying a sentry turret, the hacking was cool. The whole thing worked well, with great cut-scenes at either end
Lovely visuals, and the bunnies were scary
The opening sequence was good fun, I want to go into a place and say "Nothing but all of your money!" +1 Goat cameo was good. Shootout was a bit hectic!
Whoa, fastest policemen ever! The sneaking is cool, I would have liked the option to move the camera a short distance independantly of Santa, so I could scope out the area before I moved
Great idea, I think it could benefit from some expansion, but overall I absolutely love it. Graphics were cool, some interesting crafting, vampires... it had it all
Hey this was really good fun!
The music set the mood really well, it's amazing how even simple music and graphics can create such a great atmosphere if done right. The whole thing felt incredibly sinister, the field of vision fed into that really well too, I felt like a genuine serial killer lurking in alleyways waiting to strike. I think you've got a lot right with this game, well done
This was really ambitious, sorry you didn't get it finished. I like the idea though
Took me a while to figure out how to play. It's a great game once you do, good use of the theme.
I do love a good pipe matching game
This was cool, a really good sense of exploration
Very good idea and really simple, fit's the theme really well.
Would have been nice to get rewarded for combos and multiple kills with one shot. Good graphics and fun to play.
Controls were a little fiddly but great idea.
This is fantastic, good job.
Really hard but good little game.
Looks great and love the idea, good work.
I wish that I didn't have to point to the screen with my finger to solve the puzzles, definitely some control issues that could improve this. Having said that it's a very original thing and I was pretty impressed
The different fields make for a good mechanic, it's an interesting take on the theme.
I think it's pretty impressive to put this together in a weekend, some of the game left me a little bemused by the controls I should have used; I think just sticking to mouse gestures may have been helped in that regard. Having said that I get exactly the same frustrations happen with Warioware, and I guess Nintendo do alright out of this whole making videogames thing. Overall very cool
Solid shooter mechanics, I like the risk/reward thing with the loadout affecting the multiplier
I liked the particles when you shot the zombies
Thanks so much for the nice comments everyone
We agree about the controls, they are a bit of a pain. We were planning to revamp them to use mouse-aim, but it just never happened due to the time constraints.
I just played through it again and some of it is bloody difficult. I was cursing the stupid people that made it...
Added a download of the soundtrack if anyone wants it, it's just a zip file with both MP3s inside
This made me smile a lot! You were really messing with my head here, but in a good way. Damn fine work sir
I liked the audio and graphics, it's a cool little game.
The controls are a bit awkward. Nice simple style.
Cool sound and atmosphere, reminded me of old BBC micro games. I love the enemies too
Very well done, I mean it was bloody hard but a great idea. Good work
Best use of the theme I've seen.
That was....amazing. Great graphics, loved the music, good fun to play.
Played it again, best game I've played this LD I think
Very difficult, wasn't really sure how to play but great idea.
It fits the theme really well and has a good look and feel to it.
At first I wasn't sure what I was meant to do but after a few attempts I really liked it. Great idea.
That was good fun, wonderfully surreal.
Needs to get harder/faster as you progress but really good fun, nice idea.
It's a cool little game, I like the sketchy art. Sometimes I thought the transitions between mini-games were a bit quick and I'd lose a life before I'd even realised what was happening. Overall, the game fits the theme well and it's fun trying to figure out the mechanics.
Very nice audio & visuals, creates a great atmosphere
I was trying to get the kitty and I couldn't catch it, man I really wanted that kitty. Anyway this made me smile, so thanks
Whoa awesome music! The game itself I found a bit tough, but the overall visuals and atmosphere were pretty amazing. It was fun and coherent as a whole. Plus seriously, awesome music
A little hard to control at first but fun once you get the hang of it.
My team member already commented above, but I wanted to add that I really enjoyed this as well. I think the graphics are a perfect example of how to do minimalism well
Really interesting, a lot of potential
Great idea, really nice mechanic.
I agree that the cutscene to gameplay ratio was maybe slightly off initially, but I loved the atmosphere; a excellent feel to the whole thing
Nice pixel style and audio, it was strangely mesmerising
I know it's hard on such a small scale but more moves/variety to the combat would have been nice. Great fun to play though.
I see what you meant with the slow down, I know it was part of the game so I guess it made sense thematically, but it just felt like the controls were getting more sluggish. I liked it overall though, a cool idea. The look of the game was consistent and fits the theme. Shame you never got the copilot in there. It's a great first LD game
A lot easy but a very fun game.
Wish there was a bit more to it/more levels but great idea and execution.
Hard game but fun, fit's in well with the theme.
My 3rd Ludum Dare and the 3rd time your game has been awesome, especially love the graphics. My high score was embarrasingly low, so I'll keep it to myself
People should make mental games like this more often. Video game are there to help us realise out dreams of turning golf balls into spaceships.
Really satisfying to hit those blocks away.
Great game and simple.
Little more work on the combat needed but fantastic graphics, good stuff.
A nice concept and it fits the theme perfectly.
Really liked it, jumping was a bit tricky but a really nice looking game.
This was great, it was fun playing with the physics. I really liked the sound effect for breaking the soul containers, and well done for the voice acting!
Very simplistic, but a perfectly executed little trading sim
Nice work to get all this functioning in 48hrs
Great game for the time toy had, works really well.
very impressive in 48 hours.
Great, good design/overall feel.
Nice, simple idea.
Great game and nice graphics, I failed miserably every time though.
Great game, very original and clever idea.
Good looks great but winning seemed a bit random.
Really polished game and looks great.
Looked great but wasn't really sure what was happening or what to shoot.
Interesting entry, it would be good if there was a little bit of challenge. I like the concept of a 10 second lifespan, I'd like to see the idea developed further.
Addictive game play once you get the hang of it.
Really liked this, a lot more tactical than I first thought.
so so good, great work. Every scenario was funny, required a bit of quick thought and looked lovely
It's a cool little game, a clever idea having only 10 seconds of movement (it took me a moment to realise that).
Great idea with great graphics, good work!
I love little dungeon crawlers like this. I agree with others about the controls not feeling quite right, but it's a cool little game and the graphics are cute. Be good to keep working on it, I think remove the 10 second limit and add more dungeon layouts and this could be awesome
Just completed this, amazing work. Loved all of it, great graphics, nice atmosphere and cool puzzles. Well done!
I found it quite moving, really good job on this
Doesn't seem to be working properly. The one mini game I could play was fun.
Cool little game, really liked the story. I did get stuck inside the walls though I think, on the bit where you change size between big and small.
Thanks everyone, I'm glad you liked the audio as I'm pretty proud of it (did that all from scratch over this weekend)
Thanks for mentioning the menu screen too, I know someone on our team who will be very happy to read that!
Thanks for the kind words everyone
@GFM - I agree about the feedback, I made sure there were particles and a sound effect, but with everything else happening it's hard to notice. It's one thing that I wish we'd had time to do, we kept trying screen shake but it wasn't really working.
@Wertle - Yes I think that's fair about the transitions, I think it's just that when you play your own game so much over a weekend then you know what to expect
@Starspell - Really sorry about the lag, think it is probably a combination of the looped collision checking and the many particle effectss. Low powered or older processors may have a bit of trouble I guess.
@CosmicAdventureSquad - That is weird browser bug that happens if you click outside of the window whilst moving. It usually corrects itself within a few seconds. Still, sorry!
@robb - All the text says is that Michelangelo obtained that high score in April. I'll let you make of that what you will...
... Also my best score is 7080
This just looks great, well done on the style. Fun game as well.
Liked this a lot, good simple concept and looked great.
Wow, this is fast-paced and hardcore, in a good way!
Nice style and fun to play.
Ah, what a bittersweet ending. Lovely idea
This was simple, but actually conveys a genuine sense of threat and forboding. Great use of a scary organ sounds!
Very easy to pick up and fun to play, good work.
Great concept, managed to get to get to the full height with some trial and error.
Great story and really lovely artwork, well done!
Very moody atmospere, looked great. really enjoyed it.
Great atmosphere here, I want to know what was watching me from the shadows!
Loving the graphics, looks really cool. Nice work!
very original, great art.
Man this was so tough, how do they control the real thing? Definitely a great take on the theme.
Love the graphics and fun game play.
Love the music, love it. Nice graphics too, really enjoyed playing it
Such good fun, it really made me laugh and it was satisfying to dodge the police. Great work
This is one of the most interesting games I've played so far, really enjoyed it!
Looks great, well done.
Excellent entry. Really good, frantic fun.
Oh no. The poor kitties! I played for a while, it's cool you had an upgrade system in there. Loved the random facts
very simple yet so fun.
It's a shame that you didn't get a chance to do more in the compo, the post-compo version shows a lot of potential. Good audio and atmosphere!
Nice art for such a frantic game. A very original take on the theme I think
Shame it didn't work out as planned, like the idea though.
Kept dying and I wasn't sure why, wasn't clear if I stood on a mine or got shot. Nice looking game though.
Wasn't sure where the baby went at the end but really enjoyed it. Looked great and always enjoy a Donnie Darko reference.
Good, fun entry. Some more feedback when attacking a victim would be good, and it was a bit difficult to catch anyone. An interesting take on the theme.
That was excellent, great graphics and really fun gameplay.
Good work getting something submitted, the first LD is always tough. Nice to see lots of power-ups and stats.
As others have said it just needs an objective, once you have that it could be a very good game.
I really liked how the animations worked, it really adds to the feel of the game. Nicely designed levels too
Nice, loved the character design. Was a cool little feature that you could choose how to assign your skill points up front
A little difficult, but overall this is really cool. I think the look and feel of it are excellent; the graphics are good and the gameplay is slick. It's very impressive for 48hrs
I liked this a lot. Good graphics and fun, simple gameplay.
Those boulders were tough. Looks really nice, and the gameplay variation is cool. I particularly enjoyed the island hoping level
I completed it! Works best when you keep the momentum going
Such a cool idea, I love it. Be great to see a finished version
This is so cool, I played it for ages. It's very satisfying to win a duel with a headshot. I knocked a guy's hat off once too. Whole game is finished off with fantastic graphics too, nice work
It was a little tough to control, but some of the level design ideas were fantastic. I liked going through different portals, with some polish and tighter controls this could be great
Loved the style and really fun to play.
Great art style, and it did genuinely feel like a mystery that I wanted to solve, nice work
Well, I never thought I'd play a game about that. Really enjoyed it. Now excuse me, I suddenly need the bathroom.
Nice concept, my typing skills where not up to scratch though.
Fun little arena game, thanks!
Really good feedback, very challenging little game
Nice, solid game play and really fun. Well done.
Really solid as usual, good use of theme this time!
Oh no, not Luna! My cat is called Luna! Cool idea
I really liked the simplicity of this, sculpting peacefully was quite relaxing
Cool idea, it gets frantic very fast. Would like to play a slightly more relaxed versions, but it's an interesting game. Not really played anything else like it so far
Funny little game, good job getting something done and submitted in one day.
Cool game, I thought having to throw your gun away to get through the bio scanners was an awesome idea
Very nice entry, a little tough to finish but a beautiful consistent style. I really like limited colour palettes when they're done well
That was fun, great game.
Loved watching the explosions, good job.
Wow, this is phenomenally hard! Was OK once I figured out how to jump whilst falling though. Well done on your game
Nice game, great concept and game mechanics.
I liked the character selection, and the game was pretty fun. Solid entry.
This was great, very clever idea. Also looked very good.
I love cats and I love insane things happening fast whilst surrounded by colours. This ticks all the boxes
That was fun but really difficult, first level was very hard. Great graphics though.
Stupid fireballs! Cool running game, liked the different abilities. All games are better with sliding
It was tricky to work out what was going on, seems like a nice concept though. Everything kept moving to the left by default, so the cursor and knight would keep moving left even when no keys were pressed. Good work on getting something done and submitted.
Looks great, but just the wrong side of impossible for me!
Great little idea, would like to see an expanded version
Took me a while to figure out, but I go there in the end. This is a really imaginative way to use the theme, I especially like that you have to time your dive to coincide with having full lungs
This is just so good, elegantly simple design but with depth to the puzzles and possibilities. Well played sir
Really cool little game engine you have here, great potential!
This is amazing, such a unique idea
You sir, are a cruel man. You showed me everything I knew about jumping onto platforms, and then you took it all away!
Interesting and challenging idea, if a bit hard. The graphics & presentation are great as always
Hey I loved this! When you just added half a dimension, that really made me smile. It held my attention and was fun, great job
Really nice puzzle game here, I spent quite a bit of time with it. This is definitely worthy of a post-compo version
Thank you everyone for the comments, it really means a lot to me.
I'm glad people are liking the tutorial, although the text is small on lower resolutions (sorry). Basically in my first LD nobody read the text instructions, and so ended up missing all the interesting bits of the game. This was quite upsetting, so I vowed from that day forward to try and have decent tutorials.
@colapsydo - I'm glad you enjoyed the monster sprites, I made them on a spreadsheet in Excel, just out of normal autoshapes. I made all the graphics this way.
I don't consider myself good at art, so the encouragement is genuinely a great confidence boost, thanks everyone.
Congratulations to the people who made the jumps, especially with a keyboard. I know that the whole game was much easier with a control pad. I wanted to have the little guy dance when he was up there, I had an animation but didn't have time to put it in :(
Thanks again everyone. @Xavier - I really appreciate that, as those are the games I dream about emulating in my own way.
I noticed there are a few typing errors in there, just me typing when I was super tired, I'll try to sort them out at some point
@Bruno Massa - By the boss fight, do you mean the big floating cloud? With that all you have to do is run to the door at the other side, climbing the battlements is just for fun.
If you meant the last level, then you just need to get rid of all the monsters and the gate will open (use the action button for your tiny death ray)
Wow those spider things are tough. I liked the character design of your main guy
Innovative idea, definitely something a bit different. I think it could be something great if you kept working on it. The idea of having to think about the various consequences was great, but ultimately came down to number. The thing about politics is that so much of it is emotional and propaganda, so it's not like you can just have set % number and pick the ones that are best. I mean I see why you did that, it wasn't bad at all, just that you could expand on it with other campaign elements and really highlight how difficult it is to pick a candidate that is best for everyone. It certainly got me thinking!
Wow this is awesome, really had a lot of fun with it. Loved the little red hopping enemies
Mini games aren't always that easy to get right, but you got these right I think. I especially liked the cats in the houses
I love the imagination that has gone into this, such an original idea
I definitely love this sort of pixel art and I definitely love cats. Do I enjoy shooting forks out of tanks? The answer is yes. Yes I do. The suction thing was very cool as well.
This was really enjoyable to play, definitely a top score for fun. Great work here
Nice colour palette and artwork
I enjoyed exploring the space station, well done on your game
Wow that was brutal! I liked the story, and the animations really helped the mood
You've created a really nice mood here, the hand-drawn graphics are fantastic. It's also an imaginative take on the theme, great work
I enjoyed this, I was very stressed at what my wizards were doing!
Nice idea, it definitely has a good atmosphere
You created some good tension, I ran out of resource a lot and had to just run and hide. The quick changes between day and night worked well
Nice take on the theme, I really liked the use of the elements
Just as I'm starting to enjoy making games I have become obsolete. Pfft, humans, who needs them.
Very interesting research, and an unnerving mood.
Congratulations on finishing your tiny game
Really interesting idea, the physics behind this are cool but very difficult. A few times I got it right and my guy went launching into the air - a few moments of euphoria before the inevitable crash landing
Nice entry, I always enjoy bows and arrows in games. I had some problems if my cursor went outside the browser, but otherwise everything worked. The jumping was fine for me, once you got the double-jump it worked well
Very imaginative and original game, well done. I appreciated an alien buying me a pint of ale
Launching yourself into the air with your own cannon was pretty fun!
The slapping was very satisfying. This is a very original game, I liked the idea a lot and the ending made me laugh. Does the mother-in-law throw a cat? Slapping it out of the air was great
Hardcore! I really like avoider games, although this was a little tough. I tended to prefer the weapon, as you could forge a path further ahead (as long as you don't miss). Nice touch on the voices
Doesn't load for me I'm afraid, I'll try again later
Loved the graphics and the zoomed out view, nice work
Some of the jumps had to be so perfect, I found it a little tough to get through some levels, I kept trying to double jump even though I know it wouldn't work. The controls and platforming were spot on though, and I love the look of it
Very slick presentation, nice work. The twist of just having one ball worked well, this is a really good entry
Looks great, overall a really nice atmosphere
Really liked the art work and narration of the opening scene, the style of the game is also nice. Over all a great game.
Really liked the narrative and music, who would have thought an earth worm would be so deep.
Really liked the style of the game, nice use of colour and simple art style gave the game a very stylish feel. Liked the colour puzzle and slower pace but felt there could have been more depth or harder puzzles. Really enjoyed it though.
Wow, that was great. The graphics and animations are amazing. Good job. Really wanted those anouying singing scouts to die as well
Really enjoyed that. The graphics and sounds make a wonderful atmosphere. Not sure if I was missing something but I would like more to do in that world.
I think this is a really cool tech demo waiting for a game, it was still really fun as it is though
This was great, I love the way it looks, the characters and dialogue are really nice. I just wish I could explore without the constant worries about oxygen supply, as I wasn't able to find many air pockets. It seems like a really great little world that I would like to spend time in
What a great game, the art work and dog animation make me want to keep playing. Wish the dog could dig a little faster though, found it hard to avoid bombs sometimes.
Another awesome C2 entry, this made me smile. Great fun!
The controls are a bit spread out, but you created an interesting world that looks great. I think the shadows under the sea being random encounters is a cool idea
Another very interesting idea, it definitely affected me as it got closer to the end. I guess it was weird to have a score though, I'd rather have just experienced it. Very unique little game
Nice game with solid controls, shame there is no sound.
Very polished game with great visuals, fun to play as well.
Hello again Origami Fox buddy, we've replied to you over on our game's page
I seemed to get slower when pushing the treasure, which was cool. I also liked the octopus from the depths
Thanks for all the nice comments.
Kyatric, What with time constraints we didn't spend as much time on the ending as we would have liked. Hopefully we can go back and work on the game out a bit more when the compo is over and change the ending.
Thank you everyone, we really appreciate the kind comments about the atmosphere. I worked hard on the sounds and music to make sure it all fitted together nicely, and my team mate James did a great job on the art. We're really pleased with how it went and it means a lot that you guys liked it too.
Having said that, I think we agree with the criticism of the controls and the puzzles. I had all sorts of little bugs with the collision detection, and I think the deadzone for moving towards the cursor was way too big (the fox would stop and you wouldn't be sure why).
I was mostly happy with the puzzles, but where we really ran out of time for was explaining them properly and introducing the abilities of the creature gradually. I wrote a walkthrough though if anyone is stuck, link is above. Thanks again for playing
Hmm, I guess the idea was meant to be more towards the exploration, so I can see how people who like puzzle games would find it too easy, but then again a lot of people can't quite figure it out even with the hints, soooo not sure. Perhaps the lack of us explaining the abilities properly contributes? It's certainly divisive.
No idea how to get that balance right to be honest, never tried to make any kind of puzzle in a game before!
Thanks again everyone. Looking back we weren't happy with the ending at all, we just really ran out of time and needed to do something. We had this feeling that whatever you were doing was not going to be good, but there was literally 20 minutes to go before the deadline and we just had to throw something in there. So yes a bit disappointed on that front.
We'd be really interested if anyone has any thoughts on where they thought the game was going, or what they would have liked to see.
@Fued
Wow they do have similar settings and styles. Bit worried people will think we cloned it or something, but we promise we hadn't seen or heard about your game before; it's just a coincidence. I guess when you use a forest setting then you will always arrive at the same collection of animals, the main coincidence is the use of origami and triangles in the visual style.
We've been working hard on a post-compo version thinking we were original too, but I think they are different enough to coexist. We'll really be focusing on the puzzles and mind-control thing. Plus we will be moving the look even more towards a winter setting with some mystical elements
@fued
Hi, this is James. I did the art work for the game. Neither of us had seen your game before so any similarities are a total coincidence. The style really came about through a combined love of various artists work, origami and woodland creatures. Your game looks amazing and if we had to look like any game, I'm glad it's yours. I guess with so many jam entries some are bound to look similar.
...also if you want to talk about it more then feel free to message us on Twitter
That was fun, really enjoyed seeing what the creatures did.
Nice fishing mechanic and solid game play, good work in 48 hours. Game should start with music on as default, the music adds a lot and I thought at first it didn't have any.
The gamepad worked really well, I think this is a really solid entry. There are some issues for sure, but it wouldn't take much to turn this into a great little game. With the walls and the ploughing it felt like you were taking territory and closing it off, then moving towards the next area. This is a cool idea, but I think it suffered as the spawn-rate ramped up and I was always getting killed in my own little house. The ever-reducing health bar is a great touch, but perhaps the stamina was a little unforgiving, especially with the sword. Good job overall though
Really nice concept and game, I liked the blocky style. Would have liked to see the tree grow and maybe change depending on how well you did. An enjoyable game.
Damn you! Who can type 'administrators' that fast! Really good fun
Nice solid gameplay
Game looks great, very hard to play though.
Really cool, would have liked to have seen more. What did the red button do?
Great art style and narration, a bit more of a challenge would have been nice.
Very nice, polished game. Felt very professional. Found it almost impossible to avoid the mines though, hit boxes seemed a bit big. Some sound would have been nice.
Great game and very subtle, the art work and story fitted very well.
Really nice design and game mechanic, love the visual style. Just didn't totally understand how to play it.
That was a very strange game but I enjoyed it.
A very enjoyable game and nice graphics. The grapple swing doesn't seem quite right though.
This was great, I really love games that give the player a chance for little creativity. I guess the only frustration was that I wanted to find things and make up the story, but I kept getting hit by the light bulbs (which i initially thought were memories). I guess the platformer bit didn't quite gel with the story side. Overall very high marks from me though, great work.
Here is my clean, safe but totally bizarre ending:
http://tinyurl.com/qbn9my6
I found the controls of this a bit frustrating, I guess I am used to clicking on a building and then clicking on a plot to place it, rather than the other way round. I agree that the screen was too big, and was a bit awkward to move.
Having said all that, I really like this idea, what I really wanted to see was a sped-up simulation of the people coming into the shelter and trying to survive. I put the food next to the power reactor, expecting it to go bad and I put some water down but no way to get to it, so I wanted to see the little people try to cope with these things. I'm not saying you should have done all this in the 48hrs, I mean it as a compliment - that this a good idea with lots of potential to expand on
I don't think I remember playing something where the world is slowly being destroyed as you play, the fact that it changes the play area is really cool. I think that and the music and the constant blasts really create a mood, it definitely feels like a dying planet.
I think it's a shame that those effects were used on an area that was mostly big and empty, it would be cool to see how something like that affects a more complicated game world, and perhaps forces you to keep picking new routes and changing your approach. Anyway good job
This is a cool little game, I think you created an interesting world with a good atmosphere. I found the laser pretty satisfying too, although it would have been nice to have some other sounds. Really nice game overall
That was really fun and the game looks great. The people on the island didn't last long with me though.
Nice game and I liked the paper cut out style but didn't think it went with the other style of the waves and boxes. Would have liked to see that cut out paper style carried throughout.
That was great, really enjoyable to play. Just nice to float around and slowly figure out what to do.
Great game and art work is really nice.
Shame you couldn't get more done, it definitely has great potential. What you did get done was very fun.
Very fun game and nice gameplay mechanics. Kept getting stuck on the grey sections above corridors though.
Really liked the visual style, character design and music.
Loved the art work. Slightly traumatizing as well.
Very nicely presented!
Wonderful graphics and atmosphere, controls were a little difficult though.
Nice colour palette and art style. Found it hard though, sometimes I did really well and sometimes I died straight away and wasn't sure why.
Nice game and really liked the squid design, weapons felt nice and varied as well. Would have liked more variety of enemies though and for the game to get harder as you went along. Just had to stay in one place and shoot.
Just completed this and enjoyed it, the basic gameplay idea is very good, and the presentation of it all fits together nicely. I definitely wanted to see what was on the post-its first, maybe Daisy starts walking when you move the first one? Otherwise the first turn on every level you just have to accept you'll fail while you figure out what tools you have to work with. Overall great job though
What a strange little game, it definitely made me smile!
Nice graphics but the controls seems little odd, kept getting stuck.
Nice puzzle and solid gameplay, wish I didn't have to start again when dying.
Great game with fun mechanics.
Nice management game. Couldn't hear any sound though.
This felt like a complete game, nice interface and a cool idea. It would be good to have some more transparent decisions to make, but overall I really liked it
Loved it, the start is a little confusing but after that it is very enjoyable. The style and atmosphere work really well. Good job!
Nice visuals and music, wish it was a bit harder though.
Great game, really like the look and feel of it. Really good colour palette and style.
Well done on your first LD! I think there are some problems with the controls, but good job on finishing.
I really liked the fish, they were a good enemy because they felt unpredictable and that meant I was genuinely a bit scared of them. I think that is cool and not all games get that right.
I found it difficult, but in a good way. It's a nice little logic puzzle. The mechanics are solid and work well
Don't know why but I found it really hard, still fun to play and nice graphics.
Great game and really satisfying to jump around. Nice touch having an adventure and story mode.
Really fun game and nice colour scheme.
Nice game and good controls, felt very smooth to play.
Really nice game, good mechanic.
Really nice game and graphics, loved the style .Controls needed a bit of work and I wasn't sure if I was hitting the monster with the cannon.
Funny and controls pretty well too. Apple will regret crossing you
Fun game and music, I especially liked the title screen.
Nice concept and twist on missile commander.
I think a basic and simple graphics style can work really well with this kind of game but I thought yours looked a little too basic. A little more time making it look better would have really helped. I did not really like the little dots you created to stop the tunnels but the bombs were quite satisfying.
Shame there was no music or sound, would have helped with the atmosphere.
Overall a good attempt but needs to be fleshed out.
Nice game and concept, took a few attempts to understand but once I did I enjoyed it. Very enjoyable game despite the late start.
Fun game and great music, wasn't to sure how the attack worked though. Found myself flying around and not sure how. Really liked the music.
Great idea but it seemed to to be just luck and no skill involved in playing.
Gross but good fun and really nice graphics, wish it was a bit harder though. Also doesn't appear to be any sound.
Sitting here while I wait to be forgotten... it was kind of hard to play as you went through it, slowly realising what you are simulating and what you are heading towards. Definitely moving in its own way
Love the jelly movement and seeing enemy jellies break apart, nice game.
This was good fun, I agree that I wanted W to be 'accelerate', but other than that it was great. Managed to create a good mood with simple graphics too
Nice idea but I thought the sound was a bit jarring and having to move so slow was a bit frustrating. Liked the Nice graphics and the atmosphere worked well.
Really fun but just needs a game mechanic.
Wow, you made a genuinely good puzzle game. I am super impressed by this!
Very nice idea, the entanglement felt like something quite innovative for a box puzzler game
I know there are a few bugs but they didn't impact on my enjoyment - this was pretty much a perfect game jam experience: it was short but packed in some good level design, interesting mechanic and nice graphics. I enjoyed figuring out the whole spike pit thing as well
The main character design was really nice, overall a good look to the game. I think you did some excellent level design, which I think is really hard to do over a weekend so great work on that. Throwing things is very satisfying too. Awesome job overall
Thanks for the nice comments everyone, I really appreciate it!
I was a bit worried nobody would play it as it doesn't look great in screenshots, it needs a video or something. I might try and do that when I get back from holiday next week, as well as rating a load of other games.
@KingBolonzo - thanks a lot, glad you like it! I can do an .exe and upload it tomorrow night, probably a good idea to have one available anyway
Thanks again everyone, I have added an .exe version too
Thanks everyone, glad your enjoying it. I am a bit concerned about all these movement glitches though, I didn't experience any of those bugs you guys mentioned at all! I wonder if it's down to browsers, or PC specs etc? I need to do some more testing I guess
Oh no, I put "your" instead of "you're"! Everyone should give me 1 star in grammar.
Pretty much nailed it on the theme, and the game works as it should. Overall I liked it, although it felt like it needed a few more gameplay elements after you've been playing a while
Great game, controls are a little awkward though.
It was a little bit difficult to control, but a really nice atmosphere and setting
Great entry, a little difficult perhaps but still a really cool idea. I'm really impressed you got something like this working over a weekend. I played it for quite a while
Great intro, and a good idea overall. The whole thing was quite sweet and made me smile. Good controls too, although I did shout at the screen a tiny bit, it was hard!
Top marks for graphics, absolutely love the pixel art and especially the enemy designs. I think having audio would have helped a lot with the mood, but still a really good entry
Nice game and great idea. Needed something extra though, maybe just another visual element or effect to pad it out a bit.
Some really nice touches here: the music and the slow-down effect when you fail, the excellent death-quotes and the planet-connecting chain. Great stuff!
Such a good game, really well written and funny.
Good technical achievement, and the "click to craft" idea is a good one. It would have benefited from being a lot quicker, that way you could probably have made some cool structures in no time at all
It was quite hard, but well done for trying something different and incorporating audio in an interesting way
Cool little game, lots going one. I agree the ship was a bit slow though. Of course I loved that a random message appeared saying "buy cocaine on Venus and sell it on the Moon". That is one of the last things I expected anyone to say to me today. Good work on the mini-map and zoom, nice touches
I found all 61, it took me far too long to think of putting that green spikey thing in a desert. The game is quite different to most of the games I've played so far, and the graphics are very nice
I was using the 360 pad; I couldn't really control the planets in space at all, but once on the ground using the pad was excellent. It was very fun and challenging to think about what both planets were doing, overall a really good job
Nice mood and some well designed levels, great entry!
The game mechanics are great, really nice idea. Some music would have really added some atmosphere though.
A lovely game with great atmosphere and music. I fell off the edge though and fell forever.
Quite a different idea with the prism and everything, but I have to agree with everyone else about the difficulty. I really tried to get through so I could give it a fair go, but I never got past the 2nd pit of lava
Great art style and really liked the character design and overall feel. Good stuff!
I liked the take on the Connected Worlds theme, reminded me of Nightmare Before Christmas. The skeletons of burnt enemies was a nice touch, and I liked the overall insanity of it.
(Also if you're still doing videos I'd love you to give mine a go, it looks way better in motion that on screenshots. Thanks)
You made another game in Space, this one is much more relaxed!
I think the mood is really nice and it felt satisfying to create the various equipment by using the right elements. I didn't like having to drag them, Personally I would have preferred to just click on them in the right order, maybe with a nice sound each time. That would fit more with the rest of the game as everything else is clicking. I think you could build on it with the audio elements and make a really nice game with a good atmosphere
Nice art and mood, just need to add some game mechanics and it could be great.
Wasn't sure how much of a game there was here, but then I got off the first planet and was really impressed! Great work for a short amount of time
Woah pretty hardcore! I would have liked some checkpoints - I didn't mind the difficulty so much, but it was not so great having to start the whole level again. The artwork was really top quality, full marks on that
Whoa, hardcore! The platform changing was a fun idea, but a little too difficult for me
What a strange thing you have created, I think it needs work but there is a starting point there. It did definitely make me laugh
I played this for quite a while, it was a nice fun little game. It was cool when I managed to get a landing right
As always I can rely on your games for something a bit different and more peaceful. I think there is something satisfying about virtual gardens, and I like the time limit to make you plan when you plant things.
I would have liked the ability to undo planting something, within the same turn at least, and perhaps the ability to re-do plots if I made a mistake. I think putting a pond or water feature in would have been cool too. Good job on getting something so complete
I played this on my iPad and it worked really well, the gameplay was fairly deep for a simple game and the overall mood was great. Nice work!
Cool graphics, it has a style that hangs together really well. I think it was an inspired decision to use the 2 dinosaurs to allow for essentially a second life. Very nice polished little game
The graphics and art style are great, a fantastic entry.
Love the atmosphere this game creates.
Graphics and characters are fantastic, really like the overall mood.
The style and mood are fantastic, a great experience.
After I had figured out how to play it was really fun. Great graphics as well.
Another interesting story idea, I really like it when people try something like during game jams as it makes a nice change of pace from the arcade games. I think the control method with the mouse and the icons was excellent
Thanks guys! I think I did that classic thing of playing it all weekend so not realising how tough it is. The eyeballs are pretty hardcore, but you should always be able to use the purple node things to escape
Thanks again all
The loading animation is way too long, that's actually a bug that I could fix very quickly, but I'm leaving it in because basically I messed it up so I need to live with the consequences!
@joekinley The theme didn't come through as I hoped, but the basic idea is that you're logged into a server getting rid of a virus, but seeing it graphically rather than though a command prompt. Hence the loading animation instead of just changing levels
@erkberg No idea how an enemy can spawn inside a wall. That should be impossible. Bugs.
Wow @spacedoubt that is commitment to accuracy right there
Very interesting game and look/sounds great.
Not sure what I just played but I liked it.
I always enjoy it when people try something different with sports like this. It is a cool take on soccer, and having different player types with different special moves is a great ideal. Overall it felt cool and made me smile.
Cool game, it's a bit like my ProcJam game Infini-Quest, but with a slot machine and more duck warriors!
Good fun, the curtain/theatre idea fits well with the theme. Also great music.
Really nicely polished, and some cool powerups
^ also meant to say that particle effects and block destruction is really cool
This is a great game jam entry, I played it through to the end. A really original little idea, loved it!
This could be a great game when finished. Graphics and general style of the game look great.
Great concept and very original. Took a while to figure it out though.
Great looking game, like the colour palette.
Nice game with a good concept. Think it needs a little work on the mechanics but the lighting looked great.
My PC ran this perfectly on Chrome in full screen (I am now in talks with NASA).
The physics were very satisfying, especially when you clicked 4 things and they exploded, the whole thing felt very tactile. That way the level changed was good as well, it kept things interesting
Great looking game and fun to play.
This game was great. Loved the art style and animations. good job!
This looks and sounds amazing, great atmosphere. Just couldn't figure out what to do.
Really like the character animation and style. Feels great to play, I just wish I was better at it. Good job!
Really fun game and a great idea. Good job.
This is the best game I've played for LD31 so far, good job!
Wow this was tough. Anyway Merry Christmas to one and all, even psychotic reindeer
I love the style of it; it's simple but feels really focused. I always overcomplicate things so I really appreciated that you were able to do this. It feels like a small but complete game, remind me of an Acorn Electron game or something. Good work
Good concept, became quite stressful to manage them all. Fits the theme really nicely. I like the cross-section view and the graphics are really nice
Really nice concept, needs a bit of expanding but a very original idea
I HATE YOU. But also this was really cool, it ran perfectly for me on my gaming rig and the whole mood and feel was excellent. It was super difficult, but I enjoyed the platforming for the most part; mostly I felt like it was my fault when it went wrong. There was one bit with a blue saw on a slope when the jump just wouldn't respond, but other than that it was a good challenge.
Fantastic music and graphics. Interesting gameplay as well although it's pretty tough.
Great looking game and fun to play.
I thought this was going to be the moose version of Basic Instinct...!
Short but sweet little game, condensing a whole series of quests onto a single screen. I think the design was good because I immediately understood what I'd have to do an how all the elements were supposed to work
Interesting idea, and I really liked the colours you used, they created a nice atmosphere
It looks and sounds cool, great mood
well, that was slightly insane but great. Loved the music and the art
This is a very polished game. Graphics and animation are fantastic.
Very fun game with nice graphics and sound.
Nice twist on Pacman, a very polished game.
Oh no, the poor little fluffy creatures... they met their inevitable demise at the end of the universe. There were a lot of things I liked: the zoom, the homing missiles, the planet and wildlife revolving. I actually played a game zoomed right in so all I could see was the main character, just watching him blindly solider on as everything gets destroyed around him. Great work
Really liked the audio and graphics. Didn't feel I had much control over the game though.
Really fun game, very addictive.
Really nice graphics and animations, I always like cross-section games like this. It was nice interacting with everyone, didn't expect the accountant to jump though!
It was satisfying to hit the zombies, and I liked the use of the theme. It all fitted together nicely as an idea
Fantastic game, very unique with an interesting style. The mood you created was perfect.
Great game for your first Ludum Dare, visuals were good but the music loop needs to be a bit longer.
I laughed, I cried. Thank you.
The robot had real character. Nice game but a little tough.
I got my army size to 1200, I was an unstoppable killing machine! I'm not usually a fan of clicker games, but adding the tower defence and units along with the resource balancing worked well and I enjoyed playing
Hey, this was pretty difficult but I really like the idea. It became quite a fun timing puzzle to try and guess when you think it will be safe again.
Once I figured out what was going on it was really fun. Simple yet challenging.
A pretty funny opening, with Santa trash-talking at me. I also appreciate the metaphor! As other have said the slow-mo effect when you're close to the bullets is great. It really ties the movement together and feels cool every time it happens
Ah I love this, simple but effective idea. It all fits together really nicely and it's satisfying to move about. High scores from me!
Very odd, I liked it. Was cool running around the planet and I got into a rhythm with the meteors after a while, perhaps felt a little frustrating when your building kept being destroy, but then again maybe that was the idea
arrrggh, my hand!
Fun game, very satisfying.
Really fun game. Not sure why but i found the moving hands a little disturbing.
Nice game but needed better guns and gun sounds I think. Would have made it a little more exciting.
Really nice concept, I like how the level expands. Controls take a while to get used to though.
Really enjoyed that. Very funny and addictive
I really liked this, the slow attacks were quite enjoyable and it gives you time to think about what you're doing.
I think a bit more feedback from the opponents would be good, to help you plan your moves a bit.
One thing I though you did really well was create tension, and that helped me use my imagination - each new opponent somehow felt different and threatening
Game looks great but I did not understand how it worked or how to play.
Really nice concept, the map sliding was a nice touch. Got a bit bored of swinging that sword though.
Really like the detail and the design. Can be hard to scroll up and down, would be nice to be able to skip the intro as I had to restart so much.
A very cool idea, and a perfect fit for the theme
Great puzzle game with a really nice style and mood.
A super gross take on a classic. I had to mute the sounds!
Really pretty backdrop and great overall look. I enjoyed the robot conversations
Very fun game. Graphics and music were excellent as was the game play. This is a very well polished, fun game in the time you had.
Great consistent style, looked very nice. The shield mechanic reminded me of Athena in Borderlands, it was well implemented and satisfying
This was super fun to play around with, great sense of humour and fits the theme well. Awesome stuff!
Great retro feel to This. I found it a bit too difficult, but overall I really liked the idea and execution. Procedural levels were cool, nailing mechanic felt fun and challenging, just maybe needs more hit points and maybe a more gentle learning curve
Really fun game with an interesting mechanic. Art style really suits the game.
Really enjoyed this, very polished entry. Good graphics and music.
This game was so hard, my best score was -1100! Perhaps fewer obstacles would have been a bit easier. Still there were some really good points. I think the mini game with the arrows was cool and could be expanded upon, plus overall it was an original and interesting idea
Really fun game with an interesting concept. Graphics and sound were great as well.
Great character drawings and very funny concept
Really fun entry, it made me smile a lot. It was great when you found the perfect response. Is it possible to get 100% right I wonder?
Hi all! Just a note on the theme; we went away from it a bit, which was not really intentional. The original idea was to collect plants and use them as a sort of lasso to catch dangerous enemies. Then we decided we wanted it to be a bit more relaxed, and also the lasso thing was super difficult. So the unconventional weapons are still the plants and animals in the environment, but they evolved over the weekend to not really be weapons. Hope you can forgive us, thanks for playing
A nice complete package, I enjoyed playing through it
Solid idea and overall package, a bit too hard for me though
Really like the concept and design. Really hard to see the bullets though.
Wow this one was great, the slo-mo arrows were super fun and everything looked beatiful
Really liked the graphics and feel of the game. The sound gun was a nice idea and good game mechanic.I wanted to see more waves and see the gun upgraded more.
I was expecting this to be about stereotypes and how we as players made the selections based on the way each of the women looked. The ending did surprise me and it was very effective. I think as other have said that statistics are great but hard to relate to. Just giving characters some real human traits made the message mean something to me, and will be a lot more memorable.
I think outside of the message the idea was good in its own right too, I did find it interesting how I selected the characters for each question. Just doing that made me think about my preconceptions, and also gave the characters some life of their own.
You got the feel of Hotline Miami spot on, really enjoyed playing. The music was especially awesome and kept me playing for quite a while. It was difficult to hit enemies when you were in a corridor or doorway, which was a bit annoying at first, but then I turned into an extra challenge of having to lead the enemies out into the open before I could kill them with love. Would have like an actual'hug' melee option!
Really liked the swinging mechanic, fun game with great graphics.
Best weapon ever. Really fun game and great graphics.
Really interesting game and world, the music really adds to the atmosphere.
I loved this, the voice work was seriously top quality. The drawings seemed to fit with the voices well too. I'm not very good at maths, but it was a cool gameplay mechanic to advance the story
This game made me smile, the art and sound effects were great. Very cute game.
So hard, but I liked the 3-stage gameplay idea of throw > catch > land. It was pretty funny & interesting, but as others have said it was a bit too hard to land
Really enjoyed the music, added an unsettling atmosphere to the game which I liked. Really nice graphics and experience.
Definitely a good mood you set, the scarecrows were pretty scary
I really enjoyed this game. Really liked the hand drawn graphics and music, added a lovely homemade feel. The game play was fun as well, really solid game mechanic. Good work!
I liked the interpretation of the theme, and using emotional manipulation was a cool mechanic in general. It's not so easy to distinguish the responses the crowd though, and the relentless attack from them doesn't really give you the time to observe and experiment (which is a shame because that would have been fun). Overall I liked it and I think you have definitely got the beginnings of interesting game here
What a wonderful experience, some of the best art I've seen on a Ludum Dare entry.
Don't know what just happened but I liked it.
Cool entry, I enjoyed the slo-mo poop kills. There was something really satisfying about running up trees too, kept doing it over and over
Very nice graphics and great, moody music. Sold gameplay.
Great looking game with a really nice mood. A few bugs like falling out of the world but apart from that a good entry.
Great graphics and sound effects, over all a very fun game to play.
Ran fine for me and I played all the way through to the end. Really great idea and fun interpretation of the theme. Reminded me of Monty Python. Also I liked you tree sprites
Nice puzzle game, really like the concept.
I was super pleased when I realised I could steal multiple weapons and just rampage though the enemies like some kind of cuddly mega death princess
A bit frustrating in places due to the controls and tiny range of the knife, but as a whole package it was really well put together. Excellent mood and feel to everything, great work
Solid platformer that provides a good challenge. Really liked the graphics as well.
Really interesting levels and great character design/animations. Didn't manage to inject anything though, seemed a little hard.
Interesting to have to switch weapons to deal with different enemies
I found this game super fun, played it for ages. It was nice to control, and there was a good challenge too. Great job!
That was fun, especially when you get a rabbit. Very addictive game, I died a lot but kept coming back for more.
Good shooter, was fun to play and graphics were great.
I thought the enemy design was really cool
I thought it was a great idea to get your daughter to do the graphics. The gameplay wasn't very fun though, with a bit of polish and refinement it could be a really nice game.
Loved the bizarre characters, the game lookes great. Really nice upgrade system but it took a bit too long to get the experience to upgrade, apart from that I really liked it.
Difficult but not frustrating, it ended up being really great fun. I love the aesthetic too, great work
Really enjoyable gameplay and overall game. Movement feels a little floaty though.
Really liked the graphics, I thought it looked incredible. Very interesting game mechanic as well. Found it very hard at first, until I figured out you could turn the gravity orbs.
A gun that shoots other guns deserves a 5/5 for humour, it definitely made me laugh. Conclusion: Ridiculous, in a good way.
This was a very odd but cool idea. I liked it. The graphics looked really nice too
Looks and sounds great! An original idea too, good work. Final thought: Bears are scary
Graphics are really well done and the game has a nice feel. It was a little unclear what I was meant to do/what was happening.
Unfortunately I think I hit a but; I was killed by one of the zombies, and when I respawned I was stuck in ground and couldn't move. I think there also needed to be more player feedback - like transitions between areas and being hit etc. Still it was a good concept, the ideas and the different familiars were cool, and well done on the great atmosphere - it felt like a world I wanted to explore more.
That was a really charming game, really nice mood. Looking forward to the post-compo version.
Really nice game with a nice design.
I think the controls are a little floaty, it would have been good if you could turn quicker and more accuracy in your movement. That would have made the early game easy but fun, then you could have ramped up the number of enemies. I did really like it and played for quite a while, deflecting bullets was especially fun
I really liked the graphics and concept. It just seemed really hard to play and very buggy. webgGL gets an error and the windows download freezes when the game ends.
Really liked the atmosphere and concept.
Really fun game and nice use of the theme.
I think the main mechanics of the game (jump, dash etc) worked well, although the platforming was a little tricky to control, especially the wall jumping. Congratulations on your first LD entry, it's great for testing out new tools and ideas.
Really fun game. The art was fantastic as well, a very well polished entry.
The controls were a little extreme for me, with the sliding mainly. But it looks great, and you've really got that Vlambeer-esqu feedback going on - like blowing the leaves & jumping felt cool to execute
Really good concept and mechanic, nice graphics as well.
Really nice graphics, the simple style worked well with the game. The music gave it a good atmosphere. I think the game play could have been a bit more varied or more challenging though.
Great little arena shooter, I liked the insane weapons. Some of the weapon names really made me laugh, especially a Glockwork Orange.
But mainly what I will take away from this is a new-found understanding of the Latvian people, and how the modern capitalist paradigm is diminishing their sense of cultural identity
I really like the gameboy colour palette, and it's another interesting experience that'different from a lot of LD games. It feels like you thought about the systems and how they affected each other, I could tell that things weren't random, although it was just a little difficult to figure out exactly what was best to do. It was good when I got into it, there was a battle where both the sirkles had low HP but had run out of stamina, and it was quite tense just hitting wait until I had enough to finish off my opponent.
Good clean family fun!
Platforming was really hard, as the jump was a little to control. The flash mechanic was really cool though, very satisfying to get enemies with it
Seems a bit basic at first but became really fun once the levels got more complicated. Really nice concept and very challenging.
Very fun, original game play. Didn't get close to finishing though.
Loved it, such a great idea. I played through twice
I found this pretty tough, but I liked the idea a lot and the mood/visuals were cool
Difficult game, I kept typing long words but not spelling them right, so I get beaten up a lot. Innovative idea, great work
A really fun, simple game. Liked the random characters. Sound effects got a little annoying though.
Really liked the character design and animations, the game looked really nice. Gameplay was fun, I liked the fishing mini game and different fish weapons. Great entry!
Nice atmosphere, being pursued by the ship created a great sense of tension
Really fun game, zipping around was very satisfying.
Really liked the graphics and concept. Controls were a little hard to master at first, once you get used to them the game was fun.
Loved the retro look and sprites, it was also just the right amount of challenge for me. It was nice idea too, kind of a different approach to overthrowing a king. Great entry!
Once I figured out those small holes on the wall were arrows then it got a lot easier. I had a lot of fun with this and the art style is really nice too!
I fell into that pesky hunter's traps more than once, I'd like the chance to even the score so please keep working on the game! It has a lovely mood, I like the effects a lot especially the texture around the light sources.
Wow. I loved this, trippy and bizarre and fantastic. It was genuinely something different and completely unexpected. Great atmosphere
Great little story and a fun mechanic, it was a fun twist on the endless runner. I played all the way to the end and really enjoyed the story as well. Thank you for not making me go back the beginning when I failed, that was much appreciated. I managed a 17-jump combo with the best air time of 9 seconds, is that good?
Apologies if anyone has tried to play Brood and there was no link to the game. Our internet connection has been terrible today and it went down just as we were had finished. The link is back up but unfortunately the sound files weren't uploaded with the game, so there is no sound. We will fix this as soon as possible.
All sound and music should be working now.
Thank you everyone for the nice comments.
@kmiitz
It was hard work but we did do everything from scratch, glad you enjoyed the game.
@xvw
Sorry about the sound. I just tested it in Chrome and Firefox and the sound seems to work fine, so not sure what happened.
I did not know that! Sorry to all our Dutch players, you may be disappointed that this is blur a have about bread
Thanks everyone, sorry for my terrible spelling in the last comment - autocorrect strikes again
The art style is great, it's a little quick and it is difficult to work out who I am supposed to throw into the cake. It's a funny idea though and pretty polished.
*** SPOILERS MAYBE! ***
I really did think that was beautiful, I'm glad I stuck with it and saw the ending. Even before the ending I was really feeling that sense of the monster being isolated and misunderstood, the attempt at speech just being gibberish was a great touch and made me empathise with that sense of frustration. Then the people reacted as people tend to do when they don't understand something. It was just so sad. In the end I just crawled onto the pier and watched the sea as I died
A cool and amusing use of the theme!
As others have said, it's like you have combined super meat boy with flappy bird. You crazy, brilliant designer. Nice work! It's hard to critique because it is such a simple but effective idea, the only way to improve it is to keep refining through some intensive playtesting.
Great mood and atmosphere, really liked the graphics as well.
Really fun game and loved the look of it. Really well polished entry.
I got the hang of the game quite quickly even without a tutorial or help screen, it's a nice simple game and I love the idea of an action board game. I found the difficulty wasn't balanced as it was very hard to get anywhere when the game was unpaused, but if I paused it then I could just take over the map unopposed. Very interesting mechanics though, a lot of potential here!
It's a technically very impressive entry, especially for a compo game. It was a bit dark, but the game was playable with some nice platforming sections. Well done!
A lovely idea, very original. It's nice to see a creative game come out of the theme. It would benefit from a little more instruction, and the controls are tricky but it is very interesting.
Definitely interesting and innovative! Very different from any other LD game that I've played. With a few more choices and a bit longer to make those choices I think it would be great.
Really nice title sequence and a great little game
You've clearly put an awful lot of effort into this entry! It took me a couple of goes to work out what was going on and what the rules were. It's a bit confusing, but a good entry once you get the hang of it.
The animations on the monster were really nice, climbing and eating were really smooth. I liked chasing the little guys into the castles as well, especially if you could catch them just in time
Nice little plants vs zombies style game. I enjoyed it, although once you get your defences established it is a bit easy. Good work.
Very polished entry! It is very slick indeed. I didn't like having to change between cursor keys on the menu, and mouse controls elsewhere, swapping control systems never feels good. Also, I never felt like blocking was useful, because as soon as I attacked I didn't get the chance to block. It was a fun game though, it looks and sounds great! Well done.
Great game, the graphics are wonderful
Very funny, and a great use of the webcam.
There were a fair few Pacman games in this LD, and also in the 'You are the Enemy' competition, but this is by far the best take on it I've played. It was really enjoyable
Some spoilers... I thought this was excellent, initially I though the gameplay options were limited, but then after the ending everything made sense and I realised what I had actually been doing when selecting my battle options. The orc begging for mercy made sense as well. I liked the verse and the overall fell of the game even before the end, but I didn't really expect that twist, I think you handled it well and it didn't feel like a cheap ending at all, great work everyone
Love the look of this game, nice colours and great Kraken character
This was very well thought out game, and it felt like it had a lot going on in terms of rules and stats. The graphics and overall mood were also excellent. I liked the gameplay, but I just felt like it was a little too unforgiving early on and I struggled to get very far (although maybe it's just because I'm bad?). Overall though great work, very well done
Really tight controls, I got the feel for it straight away and everything reacted as it should. It was great fun just driving around and spinning in circles.
Incredibly polished game! The art style is fantastic, it's a great take on the theme and the gameplay is interesting. It was a bit difficult to begin with, but I really got into it. Fantastic entry!
It's good to see a board game in there, although it is the equivalent of snakes and ladders where it is all luck based currently. Would like to see it developed further.
A difficult game! I had some trouble with the controls, as one point my ship started to jump around the screen. An interesting idea though!
Really liked the cardboard art style and the sound effects, great homemade feel. Found it really hard to walk but really enjoyed the game.
Really great ending, it was more like an interactive story than a clicker game, but that's definitely a good thing
Fantastic idea with wonderful visuals. I found that pushing objects around was a little clumsy and they would get stuck on scenery or not quite fit in gaps, but you made the game forgiving enough to compensate for that. Overall, a really great entry!
Managing to go all Mario on the planes and jump on them was cool!
The game looks nice and it's nice to see a reverse tower defence game. I had quite a few bugs, as I was scrolling a lot of the towers vanished and I had some pathfinding issues when I destroyed a tower near the end (my monsters skipped over a bunch of towers). It's fun and has some potential.
It's a good entry, I loved the little touches like not being able to walk properly on two legs when you first transform. It feels very well thought out, good work!
Absolutely great entry, very fun and I loved the art. The collision detection was sometimes a bit dodgy but overall it's a fun little game.
It's a good fun entry, not the most interesting use of the theme but you've clearly focused on making it entertaining. Lining up a group of knights and launching a rock through them was great!
A nice entry, as others have said it is a bit difficult to tell where the humans are in the level and so there is quite a bit of aimless wandering. It's impressive that you've got a 3D environment with destructible scenery built in such a short space of time! There are some nice graphical touches such as the animations, it just needs a little more polish. Good work.
I really enjoyed this, played it all the way through to the end. It was a nice, simple idea and had a lot of character. Good work!
It's a nice, simple concept that fits with the theme. The graphics are nice, but it would've been good to see some animation in there. A good, solid entry.
Brutally difficult, but had a wonderful atmosphere!
I just had to play this, I had a master system back in the day and loved it so much. Your entry is cool, I like the master system style. It's chaotic for sure but good fun!
A good, solid entry. It was fun lunging out of the woods to destroy a wagon, and then dash back to safety. It was pretty brutally difficult, but overall you've done a good job. Well done!
Really fun game with very satisfying gameplay.
Nice use of the theme and using the moonlight is an interesting idea.
A nice, fun idea!
Really fun game and it looked and sounded great, killing Mario was surprisingly satisfying.
I really liked the art style and the music. The game was fun although it perhaps could have benefited from a bit more audio/visual feedback when you were hitting something or were being hit yourself. It's a very stylish, excellent entry!
A good entry, I like the atmosphere and the mood. It's a nice take on the theme.
This game just caused me to get told off in a hotel, I don't know what higher praise I could give. It also broke my laptops graphics card, again though in a good way! I had a lot of fun with this. The upgrades and end boss were very cool.
(Even though our games are not similar, I like to think that your game is what happens after someone has won our game)
I would have liked to control the monsters movements directly, but I having the auto movements did allow you to use all of the arrows keys for the different attacks, which i liked. I got into a good rhythm of bashing stuff, timing the purple attack to get rid of the missiles and then using the fire breath. It took me a a little while to figure out you could aim the fire, and once I started doing that it felt pretty cool and I managed to get a better score (logged in to Scirra arcade to record a score and got a worse one!)
Really liked the style and graphics. Interesting take on the theme.
A fabulous art-style, although some elements could stand out a bit more (like the icons below the houses when you assign a job). It's very hard to balance the requirements, a bit of a slower introduction into the game play would have helped. It's a really interesting concept, and the audio is great too! Great work!
I liked the game and the art, although I found it a little frustrating to have to start again every time. I enjoyed what I played
I liked the retro graphics!
This was pretty difficult, the guards seemed to be super-human blob killing machines! I liked the overall look of the game
It didn't run very well for me, but the overall look was very cool, I liked the voxels and the destructible terrain. It was a nice little village with some cool touches
A fun game with a simple idea, good work! A very solid entry.
It's good to see a card game! The mechanics are very simple top trumps style but you've added in an element of choice and tactics (by giving the player a range of cards to select from, and by creating attack/defence rounds). Others have found the balancing off, I think because it is random cards (rather than deck building) that the difficulty will always vary. It was quite easy for me. An interesting idea, just needs polish and balancing. Good work!
Wow, a beautiful and fun game. It is very polished, I loved the mood.
I really like the idea, I think it's a good take on the theme. I had the same problem as other commenters where I wasn't doing anything, nobody was firing and everybody was exploding. It would've been nice if there had been an indicator showing who had been hypnotised as well. It was a great concept though, and a difficult one to implement so I think you've done well in the time!
A very atmospheric entry, unfortunately I could quite tell how I was supposed to achieve my goal. I had quite a few technical glitches too, such as a human floating over a bed and flying through me. It had a nice feel to it, and the audio was good.
Good to see another Construct 2 game, I like the face swapping mechanic. A surreal experience, it would be nice to see a bit more explanation and context included. It had a nice mood.
Love the idea, great to see turn-based games! My approach was to be brutal. I was a horrible, horrible person and left very few alive in quarantine zone 1. I think if you found a way of ramping up the emotional cost (and the cost in terms of gameplay) of killing innocents then I think you'd have a fantastic game on your hands. Good work!
Fantastic game. I love games that look hand-painted or drawn. The mood, audio and ideas are all wonderful!
It's good to see an RPG in LD, not an easy task. The music and graphics are great, and the battle system is clever. Good work!
The basic web version just didn't work for me, I couldn't read the text and it was having trouble scrolling with the mouse. The WebGL version for some reason was much better. It's a nice concept, the UI text is a bit unreadable, I had to work out what the buttons were by using them. I can see a lot of potential in the idea, and the zones are an interesting mechanic for a real-time strategy game.
The audio and lighting make for a nice mood, but the lighting is so low that it makes it difficult to see what is going on some of the time. It could benefit from a few more instructions too. There is definitely potential though, creating a 3d game in the time period is a great achievement!
What a great idea! Due to my personality, completing this game was actually super hard... every time i figured out what I needed to do I could barely bring myself to do it. superb work
Your idea is definitely unusual! It's funny and quite fun pushing the houses around to create maximum devastation.
I enjoyed reading though this, it would have been good to have a few more choices to help engage the player, but I appreciate you were trying to tell a story to fit with the theme. Well done on your first LD!
That was amazing. Really good idea and great graphics.
It's a very ambitious attempt, doing a 3D game in the compo is a tough challenge. Loved the voices, and hey, now you know how to do IK and keyframing! So it sounds like you've learnt a lot from the competition even if the game isn't quite where you'd wanted it.
It's a simple, fun take on the theme. I found the guard animations funny. It could do with a bit more polish, the later levels were starting to get challenging though and that made it more fun.
@tyrants.not.found.team
Thanks for the feedback. There should definitely be music, it's a big part of the game and we spent a long time on it. Sorry you couldn't hear it and experience the game in full, what were you playing it on?
@Webravenz
Thanks Webravenz. The theme we used is growing. When you swim past the plants they grow and more fish appear, the idea was the diver is regrowing the ocean and bringing it back to life.
I played this for quite a long time, really funny idea and cool little game
Fantastic game, really enjoyed playing all the way through.
Really fun game and nice use of both themes.
Really clever idea and it all works as you'd expect Timelapse effects are great. Pretty much perfect compo entry I would say, well done
Graphics and style are fantastic, nice to see a Pinball game on Ludum Dare.
Really fun game, I wanted to play more levels. Graphics were simple but really suited the game. A great entry.
Great mood as always, really liked the audio. I found this one quick difficult I have to say. Took me a while to figure out how the eat the wheat (twice I staved to death amongst a field of fully grown wheat!)
It was good and frantic once I figured it out though. Really nice polished little game
Nice game and concept. Found it really hard at first, would have liked more time at the start before getting attacked so much. Once you get the hang of it the game is more fun.
Really nice game. The graphics and colour palette were fantastic. Also nice use of the theme, great entry!
A fun game to play. Shame you didn't have time to do the animation, a rolling snowball would have addad a lot to the game.
Great little game and I really liked the sound effects, I'm really hungry now :)
When the numbers were large and the millions of arrows started flying I thought it was really cool
Really liked the graphics and audio, really suited the game. Your take on the two button theme was great, I would never have thought of that.
Really nice game, I liked the art style and character design.
It's a shame you didn't get to finish. Great interpretation of the theme though, and a beautiful looking game
Art and music are very well done, amazing work in the time we had. Great entry :)
The style was nice, I liked the how the city and the cars looked. I think the controls could do with a bit of tweaking but overall an impressive entry
Wow very cool. My best was 54, is that good? It was very hard but mostly I always felt like failure was my own fault. I think the spikes were the only things that sometimes felt unfair, but dodging the bullets and enemies was really fun and a great interpretation of the theme
This is great, the audio and graphics work really well. I think it was slightly frustrating to have to get the fuel as you could't see that far ahead, I feel like just avoiding things would have been enough of a challenge. The controls were great though, maybe needed tightening a little. I think this would be a cool mobile game with a touch button on each side at the bottom of the screen
Haha I was terrible at this, my best was 40. It was fun in short bursts though. I liked the music and the main character design
I really liked the physics aspect of this, and it was very satisfying to make jumps etc. I found it just a little too frustrating to play for long though, I appreciate that not being able to go left was part of the mechanics, and it was interesting, but it just felt like a bit of a grind to me. This definitely deserves high marks for theme as you took the limitation and built the whole design around it, and I know there will be players out there who appreciate the challenge
Fantastic graphics and style and also very fun to play. A really polished entry.
It was nice to see something personal, it was an interesting game. We're expecting our first baby in May next year so this sort of stuff is on my mind a lot. This kind of game is fairly rare in LD so I enjoyed the experience
Loved the graphics and the music, great entry.
Fun game and the graphics were great, really liked the look and feel of it.
The idea was cool and I enjoyed playing - although I did have one ragequit moment when I pressed R instead of E. I think some of the vine growing bits were clever and could definitely be expanded on, although I think the controls were a little slidy for any precision vine jumping and could be tightened up a bit. Would really benefit from controller option as well I think. Keep up the easter eggs!
I think you did really well in the improvements you've made since you posted a version on the blog. The different room types are cool, and it felt like you had a choice to make every time, good work
Fun game with great style, the music fitted perfectly.
Loved it, graphics and music were great. Fun to play as well, good job :)
Really liked the art style and music, was a little confused by the game play. A very polished entry with great style.
Top marks for theme, very clever and a great entry. Some pretty great game design here!
Fun, simple game play and great use of the theme.
Really smart graphics, and the selfie idea was fun
The art style and mood are amazing but I didn't really understand the game play.
What a lovely experience, really liked the mood and atmosphere.
I sort of wish you'd done this game with a different theme, because I thought it was a very cool idea, but just made a little too frustrating by the 2-button control scheme. Other than that everything was done very nicely
Really liked the game, graphics and sound suit it perfectly.
As others have said it was just a little too hard, which is a shame because it's a near idea. The graphics were very nice and I really like the idea of building up the hexes to make a ship. Great little character designs too
Fun game, I like the style and use of the theme.
Really fun game and great first entry to Ludum Dare.
It was a bit unforgiving, especially as you grew. Would be nice to start again from the stage you reached. It was a cool idea though, and is definitely worthy of full marks for theme. The graphics are cool too and suit the gameplay well
The graphics were nice, very clean and professional. It was just shame that I spent the whole time looking at the icons, so didn't really get much chance to appreciate the look and mood of the game. It's a cool idea, so it would be nice if the main gameplay elements and graphical outcome were merged somehow
I fun game to play with a high level of polish, really liked the music as well.
Wow, this was disturbing... I kind of had to stop playing after a while, too traumatic!
Really nice game and good use of the theme. Music worked well with the rhythm based mechanics.
Very fun game, really enjoyed all the mini games. Game had a nice art style as well.
Great game and nice use of the theme. Graphics were good with some unique gameplay. Found it really hard but that has more to do with my poor memory :)
I little difficult to throw the items sometimes. Game looks good and nice idea.
Really tough but still fun to play, great graphics.
An amazing game for the time you had. The art style and music are fantstic and the game mechanics are fun.
Very enjoyable game, sound effects really made it.
Challenging game with a nice shape changing mechanic. Hard to see the enemy bullets at times but still fun to play.
I thought this was really cool, transforming into the bat was great fun. Everything fits together well and the mood is nice, great job
Very enjoyable game and the simple graphics were perfect for the gameplay.
Really clever concept and gameplay, graphics and music were also excellent. A great entry.
Really nice music and enjoyable gameplay, graphics fitted the game perfectly.
I really liked the music when it changed after a 20 seconds, so I had to keep playing to try and get better so I could hear it! It was cool when it switched directions, it's a small thing but I think it made it a lot more engaging that it wasn't just a linear runner
Really like the graphics and gameplay was fun, nice entry.
Really liked the style and game mechanics.
Really liked the graphics and the transformation mechanic was well implemented.
It's quite a simple focused game, and that has meant you can really polish what you have - the whole thing seems pretty flawless in its presentation. At first I thought I was impossible but got the hang of it with a controller and enjoyed it. Actually the controller support was great, really tactile way to play
It's a shame it's so hard, as I found it a little frustrating. There was no real way to know where the birds would be so it was mainly just luck if they got you. It is beautiful though, hiding the main guy and just flying round as a bird was a nice relaxing experience. Top marks for mood
Really liked the origami art style and concept. I had a few jumps that were too big to jump though. A very enjoyable game.
Really liked the concept and art style, nice entry.
Great game and really liked the graphics. Nice entry.
I really liked the style and the gameplay was fun. The differenet enemies were nicely designed, I would have liked to decide which one to stay as.
I really enjoyed this game. Really nice idea and fun mechanics.
Hard to see what the text says against the background. Good concept and implementation.
Fun game and I liked the size change mechanic. Thanks for the audio at the end, was a nice touch.
Really liked the art and puzzles, a really solid entry.
Finished it! This was good fun and definitely made me smile, I liked sending the male chicken guy away (we're just not that kind of shop). Also what exactly was that one guy going to do with that wrench? I can't even figure out the logistics of that one...
Shame you couldn't do more but what you did was fun. I really liked the graphics and concept.
I enjoyed this a lot, the art looks great and it was a fun idea to turn the monsters into little creatures
Reaaly liked the style and audio, the sound effects were great.
Really fun game, managed to get 2 full transformations.
A unique game and the mood was fantastic.
Really fun entry and I liked the game play, turning into the more powerful monsters was great.
Really liked the combination of driving and building the track. Hard to play by yourself but still fun.
Fantstic art style and music, hard to understand what the potions did but a great entry.
What a strange little game, I liked the low-poly art
It was a bit too hard for me (which is funny because I also made a platformer that is too hard!). Anyway I really liked the intro and the idea in general, I think it was quite a unique idea to lose health and turn into the enemies. You can probably do a lot with that idea, like maybe there are different solutions to levels depending on which order you touch the enemies
Fantastic graphics and music, really like the cute art style. A fun entry.
Nice memory game. Art and music worked really well with the game play.
Lovely art style and the mood was fantastic.
A very clever idea and really relaxing to play. Finding the shapes and hearing more of the story was a really nice concept.
The video really helped understand the game. Really interesting idea and great mood.
I nearly stopped playing before I realised there was a whole level, thought it was just a really tough boss fight! It's good you can choose when to fight the boss though. I liked your main guy and his space camper van too
Really liked this one, graphics and sound are fantastic. Interesting twist at the end, a great entry.
Really interesting game, I liked the style and limb altering mechanic. A great entry.
It's a really nice colour palette, I think it looks great. It's a cool idea to control the level with the speed of the music too. I think there are some points that are quite frustrating, but that's probably just because you were running out of time. Overall it's a great job
Really fun game but very hard to get the right shape in time. Fantastic concept and game mechanic.
Really liked the block shifting mechanic. Graphics and art style were nice as well.
Fun little game, I liked the pixel art and the giant chicken. The music was excellent!
Very enjoyable game, nice graphics and fun gameplay.
Really tough to match the colours and move the ship at same time. Once I got the hang of it I really enjoyed the colour matching mechanic.
Nice animations and graphics. Fun gameplay, it was definitely useful having the transformation keys displayed on screen.
A tough game at first, hard to remember the direction for each colour to begin with. After a few goes I got the hang of it and it was very enjoyable.
Wow this was tough, but not in a really bad way. It was quite addictive actually, I was trying to figure out the best way to handle things, but as soon as it got to hard mode I panic and failed every time
A nice take on the theme and a fun game. As others have said, moving the body parts can be a bit frustrating.
Really like the music and art style, a fun entry.
Really liked the visual style and colour palette, a very original idea.
Great concept and I loved the style and narration. The shadow puppet story was a very charming idea.
Really liked the art work and colour palette, the game definitely has potential. I look forward to a post-jam version
I loved the music puzzle and the overall atmosphere, it has a really professional feel to it. The combat and animation was tight, although a little difficult with the controls (proably my only negative about the whole games). Audio visual stuff all high quality
I think the inventory and control method could use some improvement, it was a bit frustrating to select and use things. But there was a nice sense of exploration here, I liked that you have to discover things on your own. I enjoyed playing it
Really nice, definitely captured that Jet Set Willy vibe. I liked the room called 'You're not missing anything' because that' exactly why I went down there
Movement & jumping was a bit tricky, but good work on getting in the different mechanics (changing, swinging etc). The graphics and colour palette were nice, and intro was really cool
This was great fun, like a different variation of hangman. Crowd-sourcing the glyphs was such a cool idea
Neat game, I like the graphics (the little icon when you die is really cool). It's an interesting idea to change your jumps based on how much you're carrying, worth exploring more I think
Wow that future rabbit was fast! I struggled a bit with the jumps due to the movement speed, although it was a lot easier when I started pressing jump and then moving once in the air. I'd say work on giving the character a little more weight. Also some feedback when you get hit would help as I didn't realise those dark rocks where hurting until i noticed my health had all gone. Don't mean to be negative though, it looks good and has a really nice individual art style
Clever idea and good use of the theme.
Fun game and good graphics. Controls seemed to be a bit odd.
I got to the Rabbit Hole part, I knew I had to use the numbers by the pictures, then cat and then radio, but there were too many numbers by the pictures. I tried a lot of different combinations but couldn't get one to work, there's probably another part of it that I'm missing. I liked the atmosphere of the rabbit hole section, and the first 2 puzzles felt like a good difficulty to me
I liked the art and character design and I think it could be a nice game when finished.
The game has a nice overall look, the style ties together nicely. Audio fitted the game well. The gameplay was also good fun, although I'd have preferred not to have to restart every time so I could see more of the game.
So funny, I was really laughing every time the guy next to me got angry. A very fun little game, innovative and fits the theme well. Great work!
Art style is fantastic and a really fun idea. Couldn't get every gran out though.
This was very close to being a perfect LD entry for me, only downaide was that some of the platforming and timings were far too punishing for a narrative game (especially on the oxygen depletion). I think you should have concentrated fully of the story aspect, which was excellent - I was really immersed in it most of the time. You created such a good atmosphere and sense of place, and the flashbacks added some nice backstory. I think the best stories leave you with something to fill in for yourself. Great ending and overall a really good entry, I'm glad I got to play it
Has anyone ever told you your character walks funny :)
The characters and animation were really nice, and the platforming was solid. I was stressed when the timer appeared, but you'd obviously tested the levels as it was balanced pretty well.
What I enjoyed most was the story, it fits the theme really well and you managed to get across a lot of ideas with just 2 characters and a single room, very impressive
Really like this game, great concept with awesome graphics. Took a while to figure out how to send the fireballs back, once I did it was great fun.
Wow, you nailed it with the feel of the game I think. It was tough, but in a way that makes you want one more go. The simple aesthetic suits the game style as well, great job
Great idea linking the two game styles/mechanics.
I loved this, reminded me of Black Mirror the TV show. Overall it was pretty depressing, and I think it achieved the mood you were going for perfectly. All the little touches were really nice, like the little flap to look down the hallway.
Is it a spoiler to say that I used CTRL+C to hack my way to a lot of money? I did want a volcano but I died of fatigue before I achieved my dreams.
Fun game once you get the hang of it. I liked the graphics.
I can see you ran out of time on this one a bit, but what you've done is cool. The idea of using the different unit together is fun. I think it would have benefited a lot from extra feedback, such as health bars and cones of vision on the enemies, and also a little timer when extracting. I was surprised at how hardcore those sheep were at the end!
The rooms changing was a great idea and I liked the style. A fun game.
Really liked the interesting game mechanics and design.
Fun game and a very polished entry.
Great game and I really liked the art.
Despite a long time not believing in that poster, I finally found it. Was a cool little trippy experience, was mesmerising to walk round and round a spinning toilet. Fits the theme really well, as it was like distorted perspective to fit a whole house into a single room
Fun game with solid gameplay.
Great game and good use of the theme. Challenging but enjoyable.
Really clever concept and nice use of the theme.
Really nice game, the art work and music are great.
Really nice idea and great graphics. Was it possible to finish? I played for a long time but nothing happened.
I completed it! It was a little hard to figure out I had a time limit with the tentacles, but once I did then it was fun solving the puzzle. The graphics and audio set a nice mood, I liked how I turned into a giant at the end :D
Really fun game and very addictive.
Really liked the art style, with some more gameplay elements it could be something special.
Really like the idea and the style, music got a little annoying but overall a great game.
This was really fun! The inclusion of a build mode in-between levels was a great way to build up the challenge. Was it random I wonder? Because I had a tower with 1 swimming pool and about a million people demanding to go swimming. Anyway great take on the theme and a lot of personality!
Great entry, one of the best uses of the theme I have seen. The graphics were cute and I loved the music!
Hey good job Mikey on the drawings, this is a great idea to get kids into game dev. I'm hoping my little girl can help me out one day in the future (she needs to learn walking before development though!)
Really liked the art work and idea, would love to play the finished version.
That was a really fun game, the art style was really nice. Some of the background looks like platforms and was a little confusing but overall a great game.
It found I had a few problems - the stereo sound was a bit buggy, and I couldn't always open things even when I had the key. Apart from that I think the graphics and mood were very nice, there was a creepy atmosphere (especially in the other reality)
Interesting game with a unique feel.
Great tower defence game, those clowns destroyed me every time.
Well done on a highly polished shooter! I couldn't get anywhere near the high scores though, a bit too hard for me - think I may have done better with a controller.
Great particle effects and smooth movement, and well done on the variety of enemies etc. Graphics were nice, the retro look was done really well.
I really enjoyed this entry overall, my thoughts are:
**Negatives:** I found picking up seeds really inconsistent, always took a few attempts. Going to the shop and selling just felt like a lot of pointless clicks. When I first started playing I almost gave up as I didn't think there was anything to do, so maybe just needed a bit more to do at the start. Only 3 inventory slots was quite annoying and not sure it added much, as the game didn't seem to be about challenging the player.
**Positives:** You managed to fit a lot of gameplay in here, the various plants unlocking past certain percentages was a nice mechanic. There were no game-breaking bugs, it all held together well and the design was of a high standard. I liked how the planet developed over time, it was a nice feeling to help to grow things. The game was very beautiful and the audio fitted well, so top marks for mood. It was a slow-paced and relaxing game, which I'm a big fan of if done right.
My lasting impression was good, definitely more positive than negative :sunflower: :rose: :cactus:
I thought this was a fantastic entry, I played through twice to get both endings and enjoyed both. I was so impressed by this approach, with the story changing based on how you react.
I found the first playthrough was the most affecting though - I was guilty of just killing the intruders, because videogames, so the ending did surprise me and make me think about that decision. With everything going on here in the UK and over in America I found it quite a powerful message actually.
The gameplay was secondary, so don't need to focus on it too much, but I agree with others that it was too floaty and a bit unforgiving with the water boundaries. The atmosphere was nice though, the rain effects and music worked together really well. Overall top marks from me!
Wow great game! It fits the theme really well, and the graphics/audio work nicely together. The mood was excellent, something about the little floating islands just felt really nice.
The central mechanic is really cool, definitely something you can build on. I think being able to absorb more than 1 hit would be really helpful in making this a game you could play for a longer period of time. I think that would encourage some experimentation, risk taking etc. Plus sometimes I think you start in positions that are impossible to get out of.
Thanks everyone for the kind comments, we really appreciate it
@richard-michael-smith Thanks for playing, although a bit confused what you mean as there is no second moons puzzle??
I wonder if you just went back to the first level that was already completed, maybe we should have made it clear when you went back to an area that there was nothing else to do there
Hello fellow Construct dev! I absolute love what you've done here, I played it for ages. It's similar to a prototype I have, so at least I know it's possible now  (mine is not football and is nowhere near as good as yours, it's a little battle simulator).
I know the pixel grid will probably divide people, but I really like it. The slow-mo was perfect, it was great seeing your guy flailing into the sky after you'd just scored. I think the AI feels like it knows what's going on, which is impressive, although it's perhaps a little too hard in the first few games.
Overall a great jam game, top marks in fun and humour, congrats
Graphics and themes were nice, audio fitted well with that. I thought the controls were really good too, platforming on keyboard isn't always great, but it just felt quite natural here so well done for that. Only thing on the controls is that it seems a bit unfair that pressing down on the lowest platform makes you jump to your doom (I caught this a few time by accident).
The mechanic of knocking things off was quite fun too, I think it just needs a bit more of a sense of impact when you hit the slimes (some sound effect and visual feedback). If you had nailed the feeling of really punching them off it would have been super satisfying.
What a wonderful ending! I love the message, it was really sweet. I only got stuck on one bit, but got through it eventually, other than that it was really fun fun!
Non-games are definitely welcome, I enjoyed the experience
Wow there is a lot going on here! So it seems like each island has a different resource, and all the islands need all the resources... so every region gathers what they can and shares it among the others? I think that's a great idea that has potential to be expanded.
It seems like you got a lot of the mechanics working here, I think my issue is mainly around the interface and the feedback. Some of the buildings were tiny and blended in with the grass, and having tooltips to explain what things were would have been really helpful. Also some way to jump between the islands quickly. I think you should keep working on it if the idea interests you, there are a lot of things you could do with it.
This is a very solid little arena game, good fun to play (Although I _reeeeeally_ wanted to use a controller). As usual your pixelart is very charming and gives the game a great look and feel.
Although there was no music, the sound effects were outstanding, especially combined with the visual feedback. Getting hit, firing or getting a kill all felt super satisfying!
144 points! Is that good? Special Move 3 was insane, it looked like my seal was phasing between dimensions and he became unstoppable.
I think this fits the theme really well, it was a good simple game jam idea and make me smile a lot!
No way is your high score 39! I think we should dedicate literally all of Ludum Dare's resources to investigating that claim. Music was really cool, helped drive you along and fitted the neon look. I think you could make this thing really fun with a few tweaks, like a turning animation so the camera didn't just flip. Also think it would be cool to be able to look round without turning (like a lean control in an FPS game).
**Final thought:** _Read Dune > make this snake a sand worm > make the orbs tiny soldiers > set the game in the Arrakis desert > make a million dollars_
Hi @rilem, fellow C2 developer. You guys have a really ambitious polished game as usual!
The idea and setting was neat, I especially loved hatching out of the egg and idea of it being a little home inside. Some nice fun references in there as well. I did struggle a bit with the controller though, the button mappings were off (B was jump and A was attack), plus I couldn't walk past someone without initiating the dialogue so had to jump over them. In Gameplay terms the platforming felt good, the only issue I had was with the vines - jumping off onto a platform was difficult as you would just hit your head and fall down.
Graphics and audio are high quality, and the little animation effects and juice are fantastic. The sine behaviour is a good one, but no idea how you used Paster to do the water (I may have to experiment with that)
Also, did you know that you're my official nemesis? Just because you do the programming with C2 and usually have a team of 3 (same as us), but mainly because I always check your results and you always beat me! I guess that means that you're the good guy and I'm the bad guy
This was so beautiful, I genuinely love it. It has helped me relax and feel better today, thank you. Audio was just perfect
That was... pretty dark actually. Scary how quickly I changed from a benevolent god trying to keep them safe, to just smashing everyone to death to cover up the truth :punch:
Graphics were nice and the controls worked well, good level of polish for a jam game!
I did read the tutorial, but still found it really hard to figure out what was going on. The idea and design of the turtle was fantastic though.
Congratulations on your first Ludum Dare, it's a great way to learn. Looking forward to seeing something awesome from you next time!
Well done on getting something completed! I managed to win after about 6 turns, but there were a few times when it was impossible because all the lanes were full! The idea was quite different actually, it was a shame you had to cut the metres as it feels like the game needs something else.
The controls were not great for me, I originally tried the web version with a keyboard, but then downloaded the windows build and tried with a controller. Neither felt great to me, the player character flew up into the air crazy fast and was hard to control. The right stick firing didn't seem to work either, despite trying to remap. So I think the controls are the area to work on. As others said I think some moving enemies or hazards would have been good.
The audio visual combination was good though. and suited the style you were going for really well. I think if the controls were tight then it could be quite an energising and fun game.
Nice entry, I enjoyed playing around and trying to build stuff. I managed to figure out some of the recipes, and it was nice to have that bit of discovery. If you let the first tree bloom fruit then there was no way back that I could see? I wish there had been controller support, as others have said trying to get the blocks in the right place could be a bit frustrating.
I really like god games in general, although I agree that the 3D made it tough to know what was going on (although maybe that was the intention). It was a charming little game though, visuals and mood were spot on
I really like finding these little experience games, something I'm interested in making myself (especially with the audio). The mood is lovely, great job. I liked the rain sound effect a lot, left it running in the background for a while.
I always find 1 or 2 games every Ludum Dare that offer a really nice narrative experience, and this is definitely a good one! I really connected with the story and thought the ending was great. The character designs were nice too, really glad I got to play this one
This is close to perfect really, everything was so well executed. I'm a huge fan of the audio design especially, the sonar pings were lovely, the ladders and creaks and machinery all sounded great. I liked how tactile all the various control systems were too, whilst staying very responsive. Amazing work
The idea seems quite original and the design/pixel art is all really nice. My main issue was that I think maybe there was more to this game than I was getting? It wasn't clear how the relics worked in the battle grid, if I'd won or lost, what the goal was etc. It also seemed like there was some story hidden in there? So I think you've made something unique and interesting, but maybe not succeeded at communicating a lot of things to the player
This fits the theme very nicely, the turtle looks great and is a good setting for a little strategy game. The gameplay itself was a cool simplified mechanic too, so I think high scores for theme and innovation.
I agree with others that a turn-based approach would be good, it felt a bit like a 'clicker' game at times, where it was less about the strategic placing of your people and more about how fast you could click.
I failed at doing that a lot, like so many times. Think I got there in the end, I'm guessing there is no 'win' state though? Manged to orbit about 6 times without intervention so I'm counting that as a win. Really liked the audio, gave it lonely spacey atmosphere
Hi, the game looks very pretty and has a nice atmosphere, but I'm afraid I just don't understand how to play. I tried following your suggestions at the top, but I just loose a hunger point every day and then it's game over. I took the cabbage to the house but I didn't get any health back? I guess I'm doing something wrong, but I tried a lot of things and the game didn't really give me any clues
I love these kinds of games, got addicted to Threes and a few other similar things. Plus I'm a big Carcassonne fan. This is much nicer in terms of theme than Threes (more satisfying to make a little river than multiply numbers). Looks very tidy and polished too.
Strangely I found it a lot harder than some of these games, I think it's because in Threes when you 'connect' 2 numbers you merge 2 tiles together and make another space on the grid, giving you more room. Whereas here, you have to complete an entire 'Feature' before you can make space. Because of that I found the board filled up a bit quickly, does that make sense?
Beautiful game, I genuinely love the graphics and the atmosphere! I had some trouble getting out of the heart area as well, couldn't double-jump out of there. I think overall the movement was a little too fast for the precision that you need (to chop down trees etc). The shooting felt very satisfying though, great blood particles when you kills the bugs!
This is not a criticism, more my own preference, but I would love to explore more of this little world you created without the stress of fighting and crafting all the time
This was really too hard for me, although I'm not really a difficulty guy at all so probably not the target audience. I played for a while though and did the first couple of areas, I did really appreciate the aesthetic and the audio as it created a great lo-fi mood
This feels like a very original idea, not like anything else I have played in terms of theme. Graphics were really well done
Thought this was a nice little self-contained jam game, the graphics were charming and it all worked together well as a package. I can see this being expanded into a little collection of office-based mini-games and being fun.
I enjoyed the typing the most, but would have liked backspace or delete to work - it felt a bit frustrating that you couldn't correct yourself. I feel like the challenge should be how quick you can get it right, so mistakes are punished by needing extra time to backspace etc. I like how some of the sentences started the same but were different, I thought I had learnt them and then you tricked me with a new one!
The coffee and stapler weren't so much of a challenge, I thought I had to be careful with coffee not to spill it actually. That could have been fun, so you held down space to pour and released it to stop pouring, and you had to fill it up without over-filling. Anyway just some random ideas from me  Overall a good entry, well done!
As others have said, this was ambitious for a weekend project. It's a really impressive achievement to get it finished and working with all the planets, flying, resource gathering etc.
The gameplay itself was a bit too grindy for me, it wasn't that interesting to punch a lot of trees and rocks. Having said that, I did enjoy landing on the different planets and seeing the landscapes. There were cool crystals and palm trees and giant purple things, the atmosphere was great on the stranger planets.
It's a shame you didn't get chance to finish, I really liked the graphics and the idea of building a ship was cool. Music was also nice, and fitted the sailing theme well.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I've now fixed the issue with level 5 not advancing, so it's now possible to play all 7 levels and finish the game. Having said that, levels 6 is accidentally super hard, we're sorry!
I just want to respond to a few of common points:
* I would have liked some modules to stick rigidly to the body, but it would have taken too long (as you then have to calculate what else is around the body and it makes things harder). If I do any post-jam work on the gameplay I might add this
* We discussed being able to move the parts around once you'd placed them, we wanted it but again we just ran out of time and prioritised finishing the game. Another thing for a post-jam version (if there is one)
* Finally, I know the robot is hard to control, I guess that is sort of the idea. We wanted it to be unpredictable as it's pretty funny, although I get that it can be frustrating. If anyone is struggling, then I think the easiest configuration to fly is with 6 modules, all right next to the main body. The best 6 module build is: 2 Rockets 1 Thruster 1 Booster 1 Magnet 1 other tool of your choice
This should give the manoeuvrability to get through any level. The further you place the modules from the main body the harder it is. Putting things right in the 4 corners is basically playing on hard mode.
I like it when Twine games can impart an atmosphere like this, it felt a little oppressive and the confusing (which was perhaps the idea?).
I sometimes felt like I was skipping large parts of it, as it wasn't clear if a word would change or take me to somewhere else. I suspect this was partially done on purpose, but I guess the downside is I felt like I was missing out on the story, maybe it was designed for multiple playthroughs?
Beautiful graphics, I love the colour palette. The game itself was fun too, trying to balance all the guns and the repairs! To me it felt a little too hard, either the power drained too quickly or didn't recharge quick enough. Other than a little balancing it's a nice entry
Very cool, it felt nice to interact with the cube, very tactile. I agree with others that I'd like a way to reset the view if the cube gets turned around (although I had fun doing the platform bit upside down!)
It was hard in places, but I kept playing to see how the different elements of the cube worked. Very clever and high marks from me!
I like the concept, and you did have to think properly about your decisions. Unfortunately it got stuck quite often so I wasn't able to get to the end, but I did finish my homework!
(Edit: I think the game freezes if you try to click the homework button after you already finished your homework)
Great job on this, the graphics were simple but worked really well. The low rez black & white fitted the mood nicely. The platforming was solid as well, didn't feel too floaty at all. Also enjoyed the story, and nice ending, not really got anything negative to say!
Hi fellow Construct dev! I really liked this entry, it took me a while to figure out the charging mechanic (I thought you just held it to the end every time). Once I understood it then I realised how great it was, as you could just do little charges if you were surrounded by bullets, or risk it and try for the max charge if you were really low on energy. It genuinely made the game more interesting and lifts it above a standard shooter.
I think my only complaint was about the hitbox on the player, I just wasn't sure when I was going to take damage. It was most obvious on the expanding circles of bullets, as there was never a big enough gap to get the ship though, but sometimes it was fine and sometimes it wasn't.
Other than that small thing, it was a great entry to be proud of. The graphics were sweet, I especially liked the bigger enemies (Rook was great!), and the audio worked with the visuals. Also top marks for the theme, it was one of the better interpretations I've seen.
There's a nice mood to this game, the low rez graphics worked well to create the right atmosphere. It was quite unnerving moving around in the dark. The black holes were a little too hard I think, as I often didn't notice them and just randomly died. I still enjoyed playing though and went back to it a few times
As others said it feels a bit difficult, I would have liked it to start a bit easier. Also it would have been nice to see some stats on power generation vs power usage. This was a great take on the theme though, and a unique idea to have power matter more than destroying enemies
This was a beautiful little experience, it all worked perfectly and I found it very relaxing. I appreciate the choice not to have any kind of HUD or UI, it added to the mood nicely. The flying itself felt great (although controller support would have be good), overall it was a perfect game jam entry
I really enjoyed playing this! When I've played card games in previous Ludum Dares, they are often quite confusing and don't work as you expect, but this was spot on. All of the interactions made sense and every interaction behaved exactly as I expected, which is a great achievement for a game jam.
The card were also funny, and being able to hold 3 special cards made things more interesting. I felt like the unrest numbers were higher towards the late game, which worked well. Overall an excellent entry
I agree with everyone that the graphics are very nice and suit the game well, I think audio would have helped but I'm sure that's just a time thing (there's a hell of a lot to do when you're jamming solo!)
I personally don't get a lot out of clicker games, I feel like there's either nothing to do, or everything is happening at once and is a bit stressful. I think that applies here to some degree, but I'm aware that's partly just my own preferences. The split screen idea is cool, and filling up the hopper and pressing the lever was satisfying
I personally found this a bit too difficult, I wonder if it might have been easier with a gamepad? I think it was just that you couldn't really respond to the asteroids quick enough (it was hard to quickly move the plug). I know that the generator pump was a big part of the game, but I think it could have been fun if the power recharged whenever the plug wasn't connected - so you could run around trying to avoid the asteroids until the power had recharged.
The idea and atmosphere were both very good though, it was sort of mysterious but it also made me smile. The colours you used were really cool. Also the asteroid impacts were amazing, they felt super powerful.
I loved VVVVVV, although I also hated it because I'm not actually very good at games  The combining of the gravity change and weapon was cool, and overall game felt good to play. I would have liked better checkpoints though, I ended getting bit frustrated at that one part (same place as @wan). The atmosphere was excellent, I especially liked the rain and the music
Feel very solid as usual, and looks/sounds great. A bit too hard for me, but I can forgive that because those cat sprites were just so damn adorable
Hi @jordgubben, we actually ran out of time for a generation algorithm, so all the levels were made by hand and are definitely solvable!
Enjoyed this a lot, car handling felt good, nice and weighty.
Listened to the opening theme tune for ages, looks like you had fun making this. I liked how angry he got at the liberal media channels
Top marks for theme I think, it really did get a lot more stressful as more chooks appeared. The chicken sound effects added a lot to experience
Hey I completed it! I like the idea of building defences that you have to fight back through, nice idea for a tower defence game. I think to really make it work you have offer the player interesting choices, like a tower that kills enemies way faster but is harder for you fight vs a weaker tower that you know you can get past easily later. It would be good to build up the levels too, so they start off a little easier. But nice job on getting a TD game finished
The arrow was a nice touch, helped reduce aimless wandering around. I liked the fact you used one level but put the coins in different places, it meant you had to pick a different route each time and weren't just doing the same thing. I actually also liked that you couldn't just jump to every platform, but maybe it's better to make it obvious you can't reach some platforms, rather than having them just out of reach. I found the up arrow and space bar to work well how there were, but as an advanced feature you can use Key Codes to let player choose their own controls.
I like the graphics, they are simple but clean, and set a good desert atmosphere. Also like that you ran of space a lot quicker if you missed, you had to take you time and pick your shots!
I like that your games have a story or a message, they always portray a good sense of atmosphere even when the graphics are simple. I enjoyed the short game and the sentiment behind, audio was great too!
Very nice retro look as always. I think this was a really clever take on the theme, good balancing act between taking out enemies easily and restricting your movement. Great job!
@Jern You just go back to the shelter to sleep. I did realise after the deadline that this might confuse some people, so sorry :frowning2:
@supernapie You climb up onto the top of the ship and there are three holes to weld (marked with red Xs). That is the last task of that day.
@erkberg Thanks for the nice comments. i haven't played Lone Sails yet, but it does look fantastic. Although this is actually similar to an idea I had years ago, so I was a bit upset when someone else came along and did it really well
@mister-kweh @ekilibr @egawag @wfmg @smurf @mikomikisomi @zeusx212 Thank you all for the kind comments
@randomphantom @borys I understand that people might struggle to quickly figure out where to go. To be honest I wanted the game to be a bit vague and encourage you to explore, but that was probably a bad decision in a game jam, as players are trying to rate a lot of games and just won't have the time or patience to wander about. So that's my fault, thanks for playing and enjoying the atmosphere.
@spyispie120 Thanks for always coming to give the games a go, it is appreciated! Not sure on your bug though, all my testing was on Chrome and I had no issues
I know it was a bit hard to follow as well, see my comment above! Glad you liked the atmosphere though, I'd say that was the main focus of the game anyway.
Just realised that I accidentally changed the link to an unfinished backup, so some of you were playing a broken version! I guess that will hurt my score, but it's my own fault. Oh well. Thanks for playing anyway, anybody playing from now on will get the proper game!
I played this for a long time, I really enjoyed it. Always a fan of these block-sliding puzzles. I liked the retro computer look you gave it as well, which worked well with the subtle sounds. I managed to do 8 of the 10 levels, then it got too hard. I think the enemies moved at random, so it made it hard to come up with a consistent plan.
Not sure I ever quite got the aim or how you got the most comfort, but that actually didn't matter at all. It was really satisfying to play, and it made me smile.
Interesting, I ended up in a room on my own I think, would have liked to try it in multiplayer mode. I really like seeing people using LD to experiment on a particular topic, I'm sometimes a bit too scared of not making a 'good game' to try any really crazy experiments
I really liked the idea, although couldn't quite get the hang of the gameplay (probably just me). I could see there were levels designed to slingshot around rocks and so on, but I mostly got through by luck and some really messy maneuvers. It works well though, and you did a lot of level design which can be quite tough during a jam.
I think you could do some more work on this and make it into something really interesting. It needs a lot more in terms of feedback and easier menus, but it's a good starting point. I though the graphics were great and the overall mood of the city at night was beautiful.
Super cool game, I made it to day 18 before I had to stop. I got into a real good rhythm though, it worked well with my tactics. I would just plug in the required gun and wait for it to fire 2 shots then immediately unplug it. I didn't really need to fix the plugs at all once I had upgraded the bullet damage and turret speed.
It fits really well with the theme, and was satisfying to use the plugs, so overall great job!
This was unexpected! Properly weird game, in a good way, great intro.
Great scream sound, was satisfying to smack people out. Not sure I fully understood what made me lose though? The background was awesome I thought, graphics were simple but really effective. Games with cross-section vehicles in are the best!
Hey I really liked this! My best was score was 1418.52, is that good? It was pretty smooth to control, which helps the experience, and I also like the glockenspiel sounds for the stars (I am a fellow Garageband user!)
I would have really liked a zoomed out view without the need to scroll. That would have given me all the info about the level, and then the fun would have been planning the best approach.
The overall mood was great though, found it quite relaxing to play. Nice work!
I played it 10 times and I lost all 10! I am such a bad penguin. Lots of falling off in agonising slow motion
So cool, I love it when a Ludum Dare gets weird
Can't believe I froze to death at 30 degrees! In real life I can't sleep at all much over 25 degrees, and 18 degrees is better. Am I just strange? Anyway really fun use of the theme.
@chillen ahh OK that makes sense!
I just saw this in the feed and said "hell yes" out loud. I love the art style and the idea, so perfect for the theme!
I liked the Hitchhikers guide reference! Nice colour palette and music, and good fit with the theme. I actually liked that it was turn-based, that pretty worked well. I guess it would have been ice to see how many moves before each tile fell, then it would have really made the player think about where to go and what to prioritise. My best was 59000 I think, pretty bad from me!
So adorable, beautiful visuals! Reminded a bit of Hey Duggee, a show I watch with my daughter. The game itself was also really good, a tried and tested idea but well implemented. I think just a bit of work on polishing and updating the UI and you could release this as fun mobile game.
I saw you posting screenshots during the jam and really wanted to try this. The web version didn't work for me, but the download was fine. I loved the graphics, audio and mood, so high marks there! I did really struggle with the actual gameplay though, I tried for a while, but I was just baffled. Would love to try again with a bit of an explanation of the controls and mechanics.
I loved the flat design look of it, we did a game with a very similar look back in LD38 (we took a lot of inspiration from the Kurzgesagt videos). I liked the drag and drop to create spaceports, very elegant way of expanding. Great job overall, only thing I'd like is a bit more variety/depth to the gameplay, but that's understandable in a game jam setting.
@wumbomancer Yeah itch crashed and didn't save my changes! It should be available now.
@dark1knight @tg1397 @jjjjason - Thank you all very much, we're really pleased with the mood of it. I agree with that some sounds effects would be good, but I just ran out of time (only just got the music done). Also I know the theme interpretation is loose, but we just really wanted to try this idea out.
@WongKongPhooey @KonH @turbogros - Thanks for the kind words!
@Tuomo - Thanks for your nice comments about the mood! I agree on the pot valuation, it is just straight up broken. I essentially made it check that the exact RGB colour value matched, but that is way too specific and makes it seem kind of random. Although porcelain pots are worth a lot more, so that could have contributed to it
@Akagane - Glad you liked it, I agree about the porcelain designs on the white paper, but we just didn't have time to change it
@Erkberg - Thanks! I did really want to change the paintbrush to show your current colour, but it was one of many things I had to abandon due to the time limit
I loved this, it was a perfect game jam entry. Loved the original Mario Kart vibe you had going on with the audio too.
The red enemies were surprisingly scary the first time I encountered them  I liked that their hit points were so clear. I really do like it when games give you all of the info. I would probably like a bit more going on to keep me playing for a longer time, but I really enjoyed playing this for 15mins or so
I got a high score of 3  I like how I managed to sell my own brain about 4 times before I died. Really strong on the theme, although I agree with others that the text was hard to read.
Glad I had time to come try this, it had a great atmosphere! I genuinely found it so stressful though, I starved to death twice because I couldn't bring myself to leave the pizza box out - I had to throw it away as soon as I had eaten. Just collapsed of hunger in a perfectly neat empty house. Where is was most like real life for me was trying to fit stuff in and realising I was going to bed later and later. I think never sleeping and only eating pizza is a terrifying window into what single life would be like for me
@manimal - I take your point that the character physics don't behave exactly like a ball, but that was by design really. The idea was a golf game mixed with a platformer, so I didn't just want to make a straight golf game (the platforming jump is replaced by the golf shot).
@persijn - I agree about the level designs, they are all very similar, but honestly that was just a time thing. I may work on this more and do levels with different themes and more scenery. Also the reason the character moves was the same point as above - this was meant to be half platformer and half golf, so that's why the character has a little bit of platform movement as well. Also thanks for noticing the hit sound, I spent ages tweaking that!
@Bruce @Harry-Light - I have added a link to the game without the WebGL CRT shader, this should make it run quicker and also work on older browsers. If you're having trouble and you have time, maybe give that a try instead.
@F1Krazy @quixatocs @Jiri-Hysek @Adam-Wallberg - thank you all for the kinds words!
@Goutye Thanks a lot! Actually strangely my best score is also -21, although from my calculations the best possible score for 18 holes is -31 I think
@sanjeev @Behenate @Potondo - I agree with you all about the camera, I wanted to have a 'free look' mode, but decided just to focus on having a fully finished game. Definitely something for a post-jam version
@Dumivid - you're right, I didn't focus too much on tweaking the bounciness and weight of the ball, maybe I just got used to it. Part of it was trying to make it still feel like a platform game as well as a golf game.
@gonutz @Danby @ppNovAqq @HKoisumi @jshaffer94247 @HeadZerg @ygrichman - thank you all for the compliments!
@techbox-north @kbjwes77 @pietro-ferrantelli @ema1ih Thanks to all of you for the nice comments!
@samuel-henderson @saintheiser It sounds like you were both experiencing a bug with the movement, I'm not sure why that would be as most players have no trouble. With so many browser, mouse and O/S combinations it's tough to test and troubleshoot rare bugs :frowning2:
@biobazard I did think about that, but it was kind of stupid fun to keep hitting yourself in the air, so I left it in.
@yozamu @kamtar A lot of people have said they'd prefer not to have the side-to-side movement. The problem is that without this, it was mostly just a golf game, instead of a combination of golf and platforming. I think if I do a post compo version I will remove this extra movement.
@Jonathan-lorenz @Yetman Thanks for playing and for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it. I agree about cancelling your shot and also a mode where you can't walk, both ideas that I want to implement. I also want to add a proper zoom or camera mode so you can check out the level. Higher ceilings are also on my feature list
@Ava-skoog I think -13 is pretty good score, anything under zero is good! I can usually get around -20 or so, but only because I have played it so much during testing. I think the technically perfect achievable score is -32, but I have never managed it. So glad you liked the music and thought it was relaxing, that was the vibe I was going for. Anyway thank you so much for the nice comments, I really appreciate it!
Really impressive for a 3 day event, I think the concept and presentation were both excellent.
The ragdoll stuff was funny, and maybe the idea of assigning energy in a strategic way could work, although I did find it impossible to get all 5 across and that was a little frustrating. I loved the music and the general concept made me laugh, it was so mad! Is that you saying "Fashion" on the track? It works really well.
I got most of the way though, although it got quite hard later on. Shame there was no sound, but the graphics were really nice
Wow, quite a dark ending  I liked this one, fits the theme and was good fun
I think this works really well, and is a great fit for the theme. The main thing that works is that the maths doesn't get much harder, it seems really simple at the start to solve things like 7/1 and 8*0, but when there are zombies right next to you then you panic and suddenly the same equations are harder to solve. I think that's good design, and I really laughed at how panicked I got the first time time I died!
Haha, what a mad game! The web version actually ran perfect for me, and I managed a narrow 1-0 victory. Probably be great in multiplayer, although I'd prefer it if once you were taking a shot nobody could knock you off the ball, maybe just get in a position to block you? Anyway good job, we all know that golf games are the best
Played this on my HTC One and it worked perfectly. Really nice concept, funny execution and perfect fit for the theme.
I think this actually works really well as a concept, it was fun to get the shots right. Would have been nice if the enemies were rounder, so you could judge the shots like proper snooker/billiards.
This is so good, great fun and everything feels very professional and polished. It's a cool mechanic too, fits the theme and works really well.
This is a cool concept, I just found it way too hard. It's possible that's because I'm super bad at games, but maybe you suffered from that classic case of playing the game so much over the weekend you forgot how hard it would be for new players?
What would have helped me was maybe not having to push yourself along as well as typing. Another thing would be for the text you need to type to be above the people or obstacles, although I can see why you didn't go in that direction - it would be cool to learn the various tricks and master them. When playing for longer I can see that being really fun to master, but for the rating phase of a jam it feels a little too hardcore.
The pixel art, animation and music are great though, the few tricks I managed felt great to pull off.
This was simple but effective. Managed to survive 101 seconds before a zombie surprised me from the right and just blindly typed "right" in a panic, and ran into its arms.
Nice pixels and overall feel is great as usual. I could get down to maybe 3 ships left but no better than that. The whole idea does work though, could be expanded on and be something pretty cool I think.
This is great, well done! It's a cool combination of mechanics and fits the theme really well, the platform controls and feel of the jumping is very good too. Graphical style is very nice and overall great fun to play.
Fun idea and really good fit with theme. I found it satisfying to get through most of the levels, although the helix one was too much for me - I don't think the visuals and the controls were quite subtle enough to make that one easy. The audio and mood was nice.
I like the idea of turn-based football, and I enjoyed this. I don't think there was anything bad for a jam game, but if you wanted to improve it then I think feedback/information is the key. I know for other turn-based games I enjoy (e.g. Invisible Inc), the thing that makes it fun is knowing exactly what can or could happen, so you can plan ahead and weigh up any risk/reward to your actions. I know some games handle this with % chance, although personally I think it's better if there are defined rules. So in the example of a football game: maybe you can pass it through 1 opposition player but not 2, or you can't pass it through an opposition player if they are next to you, that sort of thing.
Loved this one, played a few times until I won a race. Graphics are nice and I liked the horse running sounds. I think it could do with a little something extra to add to the tactics (like a risk/reward, push your luck type thing), but on the whole this was a really great jam game.
I don't mind the graphics, and well done on getting something finished. I think my main criticism was having the random enemies that you couldn't see, felt a bit unfair. But it was a really good take on the theme, and I did manage to score in the end
The fighting sequence seemed like just randomly hitting keys was the best way to win, didn't really know what I was doing there, but the chat stuff was really funny. You are definitely getting top marks for theme from me, really weird and wonderful idea!
Once I read the tutorial properly I understood the theme and the gameplay, both of which were good ideas. The graphics and voice-over etc was all great, nice presentation. THe gameplay itself was pretty cool, has good potential, was just slightly a pain for me as the hitbox on the sword and the slimes seemed a bit off (I had a few combos broken by hitting slimes that weren't that close to my sword). I think overall this is a very good entry though.
Well done to the team on this game, I thought it was great! It did feel quite addictive, and I had quite a few turns. I struggled to stop myself from going fast when things were clear, and then the danger snuck up on me. I think a few other people have said that it would be good to see more of the surrounding map, and it felt like the fun part was planning your next few moves to avoid the bullets and the monsters.
Nice voice work, I did like the giant duck shouting "gooooaal". Haven't played a game with a duck holding an automatic weapon since Dynamite Dux on the master system in 1989!
I struggled with the controls a bit, but everything worked as it should. Fits the theme well I think, and I really liked the music. It felt a bit weird to have a dirt bike in a horror castle, but in a good way, so it created a cool atmosphere.
Like others have said the music was a bit repetitive, definitely something to work on. The idea was cool though and fits the theme really well. I also like the graphics - I wish the arrows had been more central as I spent most of the time looking at them instead of the nice characters you designed!
It all looks quite neat, and fits the theme well. It was pretty hard though, I really struggled to keep up!
Nice idea, even though it's loosely based on lemmings it feels quite original. I would have liked a quick pause button, or a little time at the start of the level to plan, but other than that I really enjoyed it.
This is so hard! Is it possible to get more than 3?
There's a lot going on here! As others have said, the platforming is a little too fast to control, but other than that it worked well. The addition of poker was cool, and I like it how the best hand isn't always the right choice. I think that is a clever mechanic, although the countdown timer and things happening so fast means it didn't stand out as much as it should. The graphics and overall presentation was very good, well done!
I was not great at this game, I only managed 960, but it was still really fun. I found it very satisfying to line up a shot at an angle that meant I could get my bullets back. The sprites were nice too, helped create a good mood along with that acoustic guitar music. Overall I really liked it!
One note though - did you know that the compo is for entries by a single person only? You should really enter this as a jam submission if you did it as a team. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules
That's cool, hope I didn't come across badly for mentioning it, but it's good to be in the right category and plus you get all the extra time! I usually do that jam with a couple of friends, but had to go solo in the compo this time. Kind of wish I had the extra day to make more than 2 kinds of scenery
This was so damn adorable, I loved it! I played through to the end and had a great time, made me smile all the way through. The music was great, and it made me play the game really fast for some reason, just got caught up in the rhythm of it I guess. Great take on theme. The character's walk cycle was cute too, made me laugh. Not sure what else to say, an almost perfect jam game so 5 stars from me.
Very nice! Similar idea to a game I played on the PS4 called Three Fourths Home (which I really liked). Graphics here are nice, and the movement of the car was super satisfying. I guess the narrative felt a little rushed, but that was understandable for a jam game, other than that the dialogue was very natural and that's quite hard to do I think.
