I thought I found a good camping strategy until the flying pineapple robots showed up... I like the sprite art a whole lot. I didn't understand how to pick up the item drops though. Overall, it was a good frantic shooter too bad no sound!

Ack, now I got 19k before I died. I might have had too many post-LD drinks, but what do pineapples have to do with evolution? (Even though the wheeled ones are pretty cool)

Too bad there are no sounds, still a fun game.

Pretty fun with cool evolutions. It's a minor thing, but not being able to jump with up really bothered me.
Shame it's not hosted anywhere, there's loads of free webhosting around. Is it possible to win?

Thanks for the input, guys. I've got the web version up - let me know if you run into issues with it. Regarding some of your comments:
@racarate: You don't pick up the item drops, the robots do. If they pick up an item, that item will be integrated into subsequently generated robots. Also, the "pineapples" are the ones doing the evolving, so, yeah.
@Thurig and @Mamick: Thanks for the suggestions. I enjoyed working on the game, so there's a chance I'll do a post-compo release. If I do, sound and updated controls can be implemented.
@hnjslater: Now it is! also, no, your death (while unfortunate) is inevitable.

Simple yet functional little game. Nice graphics.
This could definitely use some sound/music too.
I think the concept is actually really good! With that said, the game repetitive pretty quick. I think making different kinds of enemies come faster, and perhaps some other stuff like powerups to mix it up would keep things interesting and awesome :D
Quite simplistic in terms of controls & level design, but the idea of enemies picking up pieces and evolving was excellent. I ended up letting the robots just collect the stuff so I could see how they integrated it into new designs. Definitely worth expanding on this
Cool concept, at first I was wondering what those items are and then the creatures started using them, cool. Pretty good job, could have really used sounds or music.
