LD23 — Tiny World

Asylum by Orni 2012-04-24T05:33:00

This is really good!

Tiny Path by ccscanf 2012-04-24T15:37:00

I love how simple&minimal, yet properly fun this is.

Box by eShredder 2012-04-24T15:56:00

The atmosphere is great! I believe you could make this into a great game with just a bit more work.

Ant Colony by Jinno 2012-04-23T15:46:00

Doesn't run for me too (OS X)

NanoTanks - A tiny programming game for a tiny world by mjb 2012-04-23T15:55:00

The Amazing Atom by philhoyt 2012-04-23T16:07:00

I wasn't really sure how to solve the first room - I couldn't pick up boxes. Nice sounds/music!

World runner by Gunmonkey 2012-04-23T16:01:00

A bit too difficult for me, but quite fun.

Tiny World's Lunar CTF by bwdevel 2012-04-23T16:12:00

Nice graphics style! Also, quite fun to play, despite all the glitches.

aidas by mitkus 2012-04-23T17:45:00

"OpenAL32.dll is missing" is solved by running oalinst.exe.

scons build issues can be solved by upgrading to newer scons (I use 2.1) or commenting out lines 121-123 from SConstruct file.

Hope that helps!

Motherboard City by westm 2012-04-24T05:24:00

Finished it! A bit difficult to tell where you can jump at first.

Tiny World Adventure by PabloAM 2012-04-25T16:24:00

It was very fun!

Worlds in Cards by summaky 2012-04-26T16:25:00

This is awesome! The idea is great and the game is very fun to play for a puzzle maniac like me.

Glue Galaxy Rescue! by kirbytails7 2012-04-24T15:46:00

Well, the music was nice (if a bit too loud)! Not too sure about gameplay tough - felt very repetitive for me.

Quarks vs Leptons! by soy_yuma 2012-04-24T16:01:00

Hilarious graphics! I found it frustrating to play tough, it's very hard to judge hitboxes with this kind of art style.

Crashed on Minutiae Prime by zuurr 2012-04-25T16:18:00

This is really interesting. Thumbs up for using lisp!

LD24 — Evolution

Papillon by ChevyRay 2012-08-27T19:38:00

Enjoyed it very much! Obviously, you can find flaws if you start nitpicking, but for 48 hours this is phenomenally good. Best one I played so far out of this LD. Games like these inspire me to keep on improving my own gamedev skills - maybe one day I will be able to make something as good as this in a weekend.

Physicalution by gupta_shvm 2012-09-16T18:28:00

Ok, this is not a very good game. But we can't compare it to other LD games, can we? This isn't actually a game, just an author's experiment with physics. It's good, LD is about pushing yourself after all.

Game-Age by Lacutis 2012-09-16T18:40:00

Great take on "evolution" theme! Controls were not very responsive and graphics were blurry sometimes, but those classic games are still really good.

Acts of August: Introspective by NeiloGD 2012-09-16T18:02:00

The story, after playing the game and watching short film, was really disturbing and powerful. I applaud for the atmosphere and storytelling techniques, but sadly the "game" part was not as well done. Still, this is one of the best LD entries I played.

EvoGoop by pirate-rob 2012-09-10T18:08:00

I liked many ways I could evolve and a simple, understandable goal, but controls were not very good.

Gene Jumble by ae12687 2012-09-12T16:50:00

I like designing puzzles myself, so I just love this for simplicity and the main mechanic. The bad thing is, controls are not very intuitive at first and it gets boring pretty quickly. Still, a very very decent entry!

Neurochronic Alien Fighter: Evolution! by Ken Reismann 2012-09-12T16:58:00

I like visual style and minimalism. Maybe a bit too difficult, but still a very decent shooter!

Dr. Helix by SecondDimension 2012-08-27T19:05:00

Had a pleasant time playing this - DNA change mechanic is simple, but fresh and makes this game different enough from other arena shooters. I liked graphics style too - it is consistent and suits the game. Well done for your first LD!

Grow by kevincorrigan 2012-08-27T19:46:00

The download was huge! Plus for minimalist aesthetics and music. Idea itself might have been good too, but controls make this very hard to play.

Super-Human by talhakaya 2012-09-01T13:02:00

Sounds were funny and the game itself was fun. I got the bad ending tough.

Death Cell by fohx 2012-08-27T19:51:00

Totally awesome! The best evolutionary idea I found in this LD so far. Super low-fi graphics fit this game really well. I'll be showing this to my friends.

Iterate by Roupette 2012-09-01T17:38:00

Graphics are just stunning! Properly fun to play too, I just didn't like the installer.

Awareness by jefrsilva 2012-09-16T18:19:00

The concept is hard to grasp, but really interesting and original. Sadly the gameplay itself isn't so good (depends too much on luck I think), but it can definitely be fun occasionaly. Overall, I think LD should have more games like this - it's about being bold and experimenting after all.

Experiment X by XmmmX 2012-09-10T18:22:00

Controls were not the best, but I liked the game. It was nice that you can't to any damage up until level three, it made for some interesting scientist avoiding.

DGP: Space Lion by Yoni 2012-09-17T18:48:00

I played compo version and it was very glitchy, but I really liked the art! Levels were a bit boring, they could have been way shorter.

Jump! Stun! Teleport! by Sandcrawler 2012-09-12T16:45:00

Completed it. Was rather easy, but still fun.

The Origin of Valmalvax by nuria 2012-09-17T18:15:00

Visual aesthetic was simply pleasant and the game was interesting, maybe a bit slow tough.

Evolve 'em all by kill0u 2012-09-01T12:49:00

Ok, I'm not the best shooter player and this was way too difficult, but the concept is nice. What it lacked mostly was "juice" if you get what I'm talking about. Enemy movement animations were not very good for example, and it was hard to tell when I shot them (more explosions!). I loved the atmosphere created by music and colours! Overall, not bad at all.

Depth by Cryptoporticus 2012-08-27T19:14:00

Finished it! Quite fun. Got a bit tiring at the end. What was that huge thing?

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Lights by dkilford 2013-08-26T19:43:00

Collision feels weird when you barely reach the platform you jump to. I like metaphorical gameplay!

Urvas by mitkus 2013-08-26T09:11:00

Actually, either hjkl or arrows can be used! And if moving doesn't work, that's a bug. You control the white @ sign btw.

Urvas by mitkus 2013-08-26T20:22:00

Yeah, all enemies have 1 hp - this was a decision by me. And no, it doesn't run in a real terminal, I just draw all graphics using low-res bitmap font. I'll try to make precompiled linux build tomorrow!

Urvas by mitkus 2013-08-28T07:25:00

Joxno - you can actually press the corresponding number for a spell without bringing up the spell menu!

WVVW by Flai 2013-08-26T14:16:00

As a huge fan of VVVVVV I say - this is great! A proper challenge. Ok, not the most innovative game, but really well executed and really fun.

Platefoormers by Gyncoca 2013-08-26T13:36:00

A decent game, reminding me of older times of simple graphics. Triggering a jump feels a bit weird and I can't always jump when I intend to, but other than that controls are tight and feel good.

Rascal Ninja by Rafael CP 2013-08-28T15:46:00

Nice platformer mechanics with wall-jump, double jumps and whatnot. Having some animations for those would have really helped. Oh, and I did manage to escape from the level and fall down indefinitely!

The Life Countdown by Toms 2013-08-26T14:06:00

I love the cute character and tight controls, but it was too easy for quite a while! Way too much food and way too much hearts. I don't think it needs that many levels - maybe have 7-10 and ramp up difficulty quicker?

Love you more by Jod 2013-09-03T19:19:00

This was awesome! Liked the story very much, I'll make sure to get all the endings.

Faster Than before by martijn 2013-09-02T15:10:00

Nice graphics, cool idea. At first I got frustrated when I got stuck in a hole to the left of starting position, but then figured things out eventually.

The Aliens Came (10 seconds to choose) by porglezomp 2013-08-28T15:34:00

Wow, what a story!

Cyanocide by nicotuason 2013-08-26T09:32:00

Very very cool! I like that you kept game scope minimal and managed to polish it. Visuals are very nice, but most of all I liked the flight manuevers. Got a bit boring after a while, but still a great game.

ADD Kiwi by zanzindorf 2013-08-26T20:06:00

The physics feel really weird and I have a hard time understanding what to do, but graphics style is nice!

Dr. F. R. Eak's Abduction by Jon Fischer 2013-08-26T09:20:00

There was not much of a challenge, as the turrets seem to be useless against me. Other than this, I really liked how it looks - well done!

Orb by Monoquartz 2013-08-26T14:16:00

Nice idea! I really would have like more time on later levels tough, or some gameplay mechanic which gives more time.

Match A Number by amidos2006 2013-08-27T12:56:00

Great presentation, good idea. I personally like this kind of brain teasers, and this one was fresh and interesting. Not sure 10s is enough tough, it seems game could get more interesting if I had more time.

Mashals of Knaveland by Jorqell 2013-08-27T13:40:00

Cool, another text-mode game! Loved the writing style, and taking turn-based roguelike to real-time stealth game is a really fresh idea.

Stahlholz by Laguna 2013-08-26T13:26:00

Took me a while to figure out that you can jump while being in air. After that, it became quite fun! If only there were fewer collision issues, this would be even better. I totally can see it becoming a hit mobile game with some more work.

AntiVirus by Kevlanche 2013-08-26T15:10:00

This is a great puzzle. Really gets your mind twisted in an interesting ways, well done!

Raptor Rescue by jormungandr 2013-08-28T15:25:00

Cool idea! It was very funny to see raptor carrying a bunch of other raptors on his back.

Last Energy by nikneym 2013-08-26T13:30:00

Looks good, but playing confuses me greatly.

Final Glow by Yword 2013-08-26T13:47:00

Cool concept, interesting gameplay! A very impressive game, I can't find any flaws about it.

Juu Byo by Zelun 2013-08-27T12:46:00

Way too hard!

Dwarf Wars by Falcon 2013-08-26T13:16:00

Well executed, ambitious game. Not sure the timer makes game any better tough. Still, very impressive - well done!

Naskea by Ninquo 2013-08-27T12:27:00

Well, that was hard! I would have liked to know what to enter more intuitively besides reading help, but otherwise game is good.

Defuse The Bomb by jglrxavpok 2013-08-28T14:35:00

Nice and simple.

Time well spent by T1 2013-08-26T12:48:00

Original and funny game. Second-to-last level really got me thinking. Does a very good job of teaching player how to play without any text. I have one minor nitpick as a left-handed person - arrow keys should be supported alongside wasd. One of the best applications of the theme I've seen so far!

ONEMOC: 1 MINUTE OF COLORS by dacap 2013-08-28T14:45:00

Lovely simple idea!

10 Sec Hero by StabAlarash 2013-08-27T12:52:00

Not sure limiting time to 10s makes this game any better, but otherwise - nicely done!

Time Annex by kratorspore 2013-08-28T15:30:00

Great mechanic, enjoyed this quite a bit.

Time Flies Straight by mrspeaker 2013-08-26T19:52:00

Very weird, very original.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Brainless Attack by ReddogStone 2015-09-02T21:39:00

Beutiful minimalist graphics. Didn't feel that I can do much besides spawning creeps as fast as possible.

Unwelcome Presence by Hemuuuli 2015-08-25T19:57:00

Impressive for a jam! Still, more limited scope with better polish would have made a better game, in my opinion.

On Monsters by richy486 2015-08-25T15:13:00

Fun and arcadey. I did get a bit annoyed when people walked to the other side of the cage and I did not see them. But otherwise, nice job! I love the graphics.

Separated by rxi 2015-08-25T08:21:00

Amazing feeling. Loved exploring the area, feeling like a monster.

sector.33 by ziege 2015-08-31T14:15:00

Nice! I like the simplicity. These graphics work really well.

namcaP by Jacob123 2015-09-02T20:41:00

Nice idea. Would be much more interesting if player behaved more intelligently. Wasn't much of a challenge now.

Urd Monster by abcdef65g 2015-09-03T06:32:00

It's easy to get stuck walking near walls. Also, lighting effects are buggy and often too bright. Graphics vere really nice though and reminded me of Chrono Trigger!

underworld siege by Benjamin 2015-08-25T15:22:00

Wow. Very cool game! And in pico-8 nonetheless. Really enjoyed playing.

Passengers by nerial 2015-08-25T18:53:00

Best take on the theme I've seen so far!

Stealth Yeti by cottontrek 2015-08-31T07:54:00

Lovely concept!

Soup by JoshDBB 2015-08-25T19:47:00

Cool idea. Not much of game though...

Dissident by michidk 2015-08-30T18:43:00

Very simple, but delivers what it's supposed to, I guess.

I am Become Death by mfagerlund 2015-08-30T13:09:00

Nicely complex.

The Monster Way by Nomys_Tempar 2015-08-25T18:38:00

Good writing and lovely picture. Kept me hooked till the end!

The water ghost by scambier 2015-09-01T08:26:00

Nice and simple.

passive-aggressive vegetarian game by increpare 2015-08-31T13:56:00

Ok, not much of a game, but funny. Nice tool btw!

Cute Cubes Massacre by vikpek 2015-08-30T12:54:00

Ok, it's a playable tower defense. I got ~600000 points, forgot to save the exact number. Gives off very unfinished game vibe though.

Undercowver by PixelStuff 2015-08-30T14:37:00

Very nice graphics. UFO controls are really sensitive though, almost impossible to be precisely where I want.

Kill It With Fire by StabAlarash 2015-09-02T21:41:00

Great graphics! I wish there was something more to do besides running...

Look Into The Mirror by yuigoto 2015-08-25T15:34:00

Cool style & music. Jumping feels good, but camera scrolling is a bit odd. Also, I found it too easy to die from flames, hitboxes could be more forgiving here. It was actually fun, even if a bit hard. Nice job!

Monstrous Bosses by Drauthius 2015-08-30T13:30:00

Good take on the theme. A bit too fast for my taste, but a really nice game.

All That Glitters by cgmorton 2015-08-25T08:14:00

Nice! Really enjoyed this one. Could use some difficulty balancing, but challenge is enjoyable.

Monstermanity by D3giler 2015-08-24T23:55:00

Nice. Escaped the lab! Graphical feedback of moves could be better, but overall it feels good to jump around.

I HATE HALLOWEEN by Vaida 2015-08-25T19:17:00

Cool game! Hehehe. Loved the music and graphics.

The Supper by jrhee 2015-08-25T20:12:00

Wow. Amazing style, lovely writing. One of my favourites in this LD.

The Supper by jrhee 2015-08-25T20:13:00

Wow. Amazing style, lovely writing. One of my favourites in this LD.

You are the Loch Ness Monster by LeekAnarchism 2015-09-02T20:44:00

Funny idea! Was a bit annoying not knowing how close to ships I can get.

Delicious Ships! by BaseCase 2015-09-01T07:15:00

Solid idea. Maybe a bit easy overall, but that's just my taste.

Inky's Revenge by bigbadwofl 2015-08-28T13:21:00

Beautiful spin on the classic game.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Signed Distance Shift by netgrind 2016-04-21T15:20:00

Whoa, trippy!

Speigas by mitkus 2016-04-19T18:25:00

To TEAM-TIGER - they sure move! Your tanks are the pink ones. First select the tank with left mouse button, then order it to move to a blue cell with right mouse button.

Nightshift by Aurel Bílý 2016-04-21T09:32:00

Really solid entry. A bit slow at the beginning, but I enjoyed it quite a bit after the first level.

Shapeshift Racer by 02fc.exe 2016-04-19T09:09:00

Love it! Amazing graphics style and audio. Can totally see it being a success on mobile devices.

Dawning by Ludipe 2016-04-19T18:23:00

Nice! Lovely graphics and simple, relaxing gameplay. I ended up playing it without being too concerned about the score, but it was still nice. Not sure what was the use for zooming in.

The Quest for the Lindworm by ZYXer 2016-04-21T15:31:00

Amazing visual style, I really dig it. Gameplay is not bad too, everything feels complete and balanced. Very enjoyable!

Sub Dragon by deepnight 2016-04-21T09:22:00

Great idea and amazing implementation, good job!

MetamorphBot by TheCams 2016-04-26T20:30:00

Very short and there's too many forms. I think it would be much better with 3 shapes and more levels. Still, a decent game!

You Are What You Eat by MagnesiumNinja 2016-04-28T08:50:00

One of the best jam games!

Shapeshifter X - Ressurection - Return of Zyglox 4K by homeworld 2016-04-19T09:18:00

Wow! The gameplay is quite good, really has this action-movie feel and puts you in "flow" zone. Also, good job on the graphics and sound.

Rocketmorph by ermrk 2016-04-20T14:45:00

I scored 154796m. A very playable entry overall, but I find it lacks juicyness and polish. It's not so easy to tell when you're about to hit something - or rather, it often seems you should hit a wall, but you dont. Music is very good though, I like it!

DroneWatch by zzapp 2016-04-20T14:37:00

This could have been a cool game to play if just a few major issues were fixed. Camera should follow the drone, or just center on it - that would improve a lot. Also, there seems to be no penalty for killing civilians yourself.

Ghost Bird by torcado 2016-04-21T14:31:00

I love everything about this, but especially the atmosphere.

PuzzleShift by KunoNoOni 2016-04-24T08:40:00

Very cool game with some minor issues. Graphics style is lovely, and gameplay reminds if 90s PC platformers very much. The biggest issue for me was jumping on a tile, reaching it and then sliding off it, which felt unnatural in a platformer.

PolyScape by QC Pips 2016-04-19T07:52:00

Was hard to understand what's happening at first, but help screen really helped. I like the abstract, almost cubist graphics style. The gameplay itself leaves something to be desired though, it really gets boring after the first 5 or so puzzles. Some shapes are so similar in size, that it's guesswork which goes where.

Egg Clegger by pythong 2016-04-20T14:25:00

I think it's a cool game if you come with a right mindset. As it often happens to me with cookie clickers, I thought "oh no, I should not like it", then I ended up playing for good 15 minutes. The silly humour really made me chuckle a few times.

Exhuman by Arvydas 2016-04-21T13:30:00

Very good looking and ambitious game. Perhaps, a bit too ambitious. I find overall polish and gameplay mechanics quite lacking. It looks like proper "serious game", but doesn't play like one. Beginning is very frustrating, I got killed within first minute perhaps 10 times.

The Pollos by Nolocality 2016-04-21T14:10:00

Rough, quirky and cute graphics style, love it. I got seriously lost in the desert and didn't do much...

Pedro Custodio and Fynn Levy's 'The Year I Died, 1997': A VR Experience by yyam 2016-04-26T20:53:00

Couldn't understand what to do for a long time, then collecting "Death" got really tediuos. Game didn't run that good on Nexus 6, always being under 60 fps with quite unstable framerate, so I felt sick after 3 or so minutes of playing. Still congrats for making VR game, we need more of these!

4E: Four Elements by Redpillgamedev 2016-04-20T15:04:00

Way too easy, I think. It was kind of cool to discover which elements don't hurt.

Battle of Creatures by JNI 2016-04-21T13:38:00

Cool little game, I love the destruction effect of enemies and trees.

LD37 — One room

keturi by mitkus 2016-12-12T13:38:00

To pkenney - yeah, you can actually win by doing something in "the room". Thanks for comments everyone!

keturi by mitkus 2016-12-14T18:11:00

Thanks you for comments everyone!

To answer your questions:

@BoneDaddy - there are only 16 rooms. It makes the game kind of short, but I like being able to beat it in 10 minutes, there's not that much content after all!

@springogeek - enemies immune to crossbow sounds like a bug. At least I didn't intend to make them immune and never encountered it myself. Please tell me if you see them again! Or was it a guy with red eyes? He's not immune, just a bit more ... persistent.

@rogual - blue enemies charge your weapon up. Hope knowing that helps to clear up weapon confusion!

@impbox - yeah, the weapons get somewhat better over time. Usually I tend to use sword in rooms 2-7, then crossbow in ~8-13, then the last weapon. There's still plenty of situations where you're out of charges and it makes sense to pick up a weaker weapon though.

Loop of Eternity by Khud0 2016-12-13T15:03:00

Nice graphics, together with effects and sound this feels nicely juicy!

I was a bit confused with navigation in shop menu though.

Eternal Prison by AntoineDesbiens 2016-12-12T18:02:00

I love sokoban puzzles, so this was very enjoyable. The first ones were a bit tedious but some of the later ones were really nice.

Some criticism - I didn't like puzzles with too many buttons and boxes. I find that smaller puzzles with less moving elements provide a better brain workout because you can fit it in your head and better plan moves ahead. Even smaller puzzles can be just as difficult! In this game sometimes I feel like it boils down to remembering which button does what.

Oh, and undo button would be very very useful!

Studio Castle by sgadrat 2016-12-12T12:13:00

I quite enjoyed this one! Very short but charming. What was the king talking about?

Btw, game gets displayed strangely non-center, at the left side of the screen.

Cat and Robot by Vadim Ivshin 2016-12-12T12:21:00

Charming! As a fan of RoboRally, I really enjoyed this. Would be really nice to remove/edit parts of the sequence without restarting fresh. I also encountered a bug a few times where cat doesn't run when I play note next to it.

Networking™ by erikiene 2016-12-13T19:09:00

Love it. 5/5 for humour! I can totally relate to this rendition of networking.

Also, as a fellow countrymen - my email shouldn't be too hard to find, if you want to get in touch.

Quentin by Mark Overmars 2016-12-13T11:48:00

This game made me really angry. Don't get me wrong that's great!

Presentation and sound is top notch, very juicy. Idea is very cool too and I just love that main character is Quentin Tarantino.

Though what made me angry is repeating the same goddamn sections 100 times until I get the jump right. That might have been intentional, but I think you really need to show both active and inactive platforms all the time.

Anyway, good job!

Very impressive game! Kept me playing for awhile, which is not very usual with LD games.

I'm sure you'll get lots of positive comments and they are well deserved, but I'll write some minor complaints:

- Sections where you have to be quick to get under a door can get frustrating. It's totally fine to make them hard, I just don't feel I become better at them besides trying until I randomly succeed.

- It can be hard to quickly intuitively feel when I'm close enough to a button to press it. The helpful popup is helpful, but I find it comes up too slowly.

Anyway, great job!

Really missed some visual feedback when I get hit or I hit an enemy. Room swapping mechanic is interesting, but doesn't live up to much - I had no idea what different colors would do. Otherwise the game is alright, had some fun trying to survive past room 3!

By the way, works on linux just fine.

I found the unskippable intro quite annoying when reading it fifth time...

Gameplay is nice. The monster tends to speed up quite suddenly though, that feels a bit wrong.

So, I consider this to be more of a toy than game right? It's very good to see such things in LD, too many of us try to stick to limiting principles of what a "game" should be.

Thanks for making it mobile friendly! Though it's not very comfortable to play on PC - you should at least let player use arrows and numbers on keyboard.

The game itself, I find too simplistic to really be enjoyable... Once I realized which attack to use on which enemy, it becomes monotonous. And it's not too hard to see a good short path to take to the exit.

Amazing graphics!

I feel that gameplay itself could be better balanced. Tactical decisions are not that interesting right now. It would be cool for more opportunities to use fire spell. I liked how I can attack diagonally though - it means with careful thinking I can mostly avoid getting hit. It would also be nice if all enemies moved at once - pauses between turns can get annoyingly long now.

But don't get me wrong, this is very impressive LD game, good job!

I get that this isn't a "high budget" LD game, but I quite like. Very simple idea, but solid implementation and highly playable. Good job for a first LD game. Works alright on my linux btw.

Whoa dude, this was trippy as hell! I ended up enjoying autoplay mode quite a lot.

Very glad this game exists.

Amazing graphics and atmosphere!

Gameplay itself is nice, but I must admit it wasn't loads of fun. A few times I got into a state where I had no energy and couldn't make more food. Maybe garden shouldn't need energy? Also it's very hard to visually tell what each machine does.

Engine Room by Leon Möhring 2016-12-12T18:18:00

Fighting is very exciting! And it's interesting that you can't always see the enemies.

I'm not a fan of running back and forth between rooms though. "Oh, go to machine room again?!". And then I died along the way and had to restart. That got a bit annoying...

Simple, but done decently. Good fun for a few minutes!

Yay for pico-8! This was simple and really enjoyable.
