"Here comes the punchline." He's like the indian Duke Nukem!
Really impressive graphics and soundwork. The actual game felt a bit uninspired although there seemed to be a lot of content. My playthrough got interrupted by a glitch of some sort, as after I died I got sent back to the start of the level and could no longer move my character around.
There was also an annoying issue on the screen not scaling properly on my widescreen monitor, so the window was always partially hidden.
Nice game, but I kept falling through the platforms:(
Awesome! Any plans to do a spinoff novel? I want to hear more about DGP Space Lion!
The voice acting was fun! and I liked the music.

This would have been awesome if it hadn't been so glitchy. I loved how the monsters changed visually as they grew resistant to certain attacks, although it should be made clearer that you can jump on them. The audio got repetitive at times, though I enjoyed getting Rick-Rolled on level 2. :)
It didn't fit my screen, so I had to play it cropped.
It also crashed when I tried to change weapon.
I loved that crazy idea, even the name of the game is very awesome.
Good job! :)

Thanks for the comments!
If you like the game but find it too glitchy, we recommend that you at least use the cheat mode (type LION + level number) to see all 8 levels - each one is a different experience (especially level 5...)

Really funny ideas, e.g. the knee protection after some kicks or the voice acting, also funny way to deal with the theme.
Problems: Once I lost a life I can not move anymore, need to play in full screen to see everything.
Interesting game. Music and sound are amazing.

I'm not sure what happened but the game crashed after I died...

Had the same glitch -- died and could not do anything -- it was really funny, and i liked the hand drawn graphics.
The music was the best, and I love how you threw in a dance off in the middle. I had to resort to cheat codes to see most of the content. What really annoyed me were the platforms that were there 1/2 the time. I couldn't understand the logic behind them and died a lot. Great work following though on making sprites for all the different monster mutations.

Oh man, so many aspects of this game are great. The one-liners, the music, level 5, use of the theme... if you polished the basic gameplay, physics etc. a bit more this could be absolutely amazing.
I wish the combat and jumping where a bit smoother, but it's lots of fun for a jam game.

Two criticisms before I get to the gushing praise: I had a few problems with falling through platforms; and the enemies adapted to my weapons to quickly, so that I basically spent all the time just trying to dodge them.
Now for the gushing praise: I loved it! I think this may be the most memorable character out of this entire LD! Last time around we had the neckbeard snail from chambers' Recluse; this time it's DGP Space Lion! Loved the one-liners, the music (especially the Rickroll), the cartoony art style.
The only thing that could make this better would be some save points thoughout the level, because it's actually quite hard...

vilya: Thanks a lot for the praise :)
I believe I fixed the falling through platforms bug in the 2nd version. Did you play the 2nd version or the original?

Some great work on audio and humour here - love the Indian cop-in-space theme! Unfortunately the gameplay was rather repetitive and unsatisfying to control, although the enemy immunities were a good idea. Oh and the soundtrack Rick Roll was quite exquisite :)

This one takes Best of Jam. Huge effort with tons of depth, lots of great ideas, executed with great precision. The variety of level mechanics alone deserves a trophy, with many surprising twists along the way. And yes, the dance-off is genius.
A few small changes could probably make this an EXTREMELY fun game. Allowing jumping and shooting, speeding up the motion a little, and maybe a few more features besides "normal platform" vs. "unstable platform". Also a little more hinting for the blind jumps in the cave level wouldn't hurt.
I managed to get to the cave level without losing the game, after which I tried the cheat code. Still couldn't pass the cave level, and I feel cheating cheapened the remaining levels by being able to skip them and see all the weapons. Maybe a better way to encourage people to see all the content would be to make less "filler" levels (including the water one, sorry) and a checkpoint system for the harder ones.
But despite these points the fact remains that the game is solid and fun, and the atmosphere (music, sound, graphics, humor) is simply perfect.
Great work! Nicely polished, art- and music-wise; the bugs others mentioned got in the way a bit, but we can't ever catch all of those. I very much liked the style, the use of the theme, and the humour - and you got a huge amount of content in! I hope your entry does very well :)

The main window spans through 2 monitors here... And I don't know how to kill the enemies which are wearing protection. They basically unstopabble and walks sraight through me. There should be a knock back when be hitten so you have time for another shot.

I played compo version and it was very glitchy, but I really liked the art! Levels were a bit boring, they could have been way shorter.

5 star humor, 5 star music! What a great character and what great music. I may even be tempted to buy the soundtrack, but leave some DGP Space Lion quotes in there.
The game is glitchy and pretty unforgiving (died at the end of an level that took me a few minutes and I'm back where I started again) but what a game.
