very nice! though as soon as i played it i instantly thought of give up robot

very nice! though as soon as i played it i instantly thought of give up robot
this was a very good game. i have never seen a game like this before. i made an account just to comment on this game. very nice. and i thought the music was funny.
(p.s. i completed the whole game by myself and ended up with a score of like -5720 or something XD)
this is very nice! i love these types of games like Motherload. you said you will be working further on the game, is there any way to get notified for future releases?
nice minimalistic story!
This was pretty fun! nice job!
cool little snake game!
wow this is awesome! The looks are fantastic and a great feel for the 'minimalistic' theme. good music and fun! This is similar to my game where you jump and switch colors. Good job!
follows the theme well! had fun playing through it, got hard at some points
wow nice! quite difficult
haha very funny!
Very fun! must've been hard for level design
Cool concept!
Great graphics and level design! POTATO4LIYF
wow cool concept! i like how even the HUD is cube based. pretty hard but fun!
haha pretty fun!
OH wow thanks a lot. i finally fixed it. i realized i needed the movie value to be the location of the file.
Also unfortunately due to Stencyl's restrictions i cannot upload the .exe, but you can download the flash player that plays the files or you could just open it in your browser
Thanks everyone! yes i realize the tutorial restarting each death is annoying, but it would be difficult to make that not happen programming-wise. and yes, i should make the cycle sound quieter. I will do this! thanks for the feedback! I'm still waiting for someone to see the ending! haha you'll love it
@Alucard J having a different sound for each color doesnt make sense since all colors are on screen at all times.
@JohnnySix the colors arent random, they cycle from red to pink to green to blue, indicated by the tutorial text and the colors at the top right
@Milo yes the 2 colors at a time thing was a bug that would be annoying to fix, but it only happens at the beginning
interesting mechanics! colors are a bit awkward but otherwise cool!
pretty interesting! i never thought about how very minimalistic imiges can alter views
nice colors! pretty re-playable too! nice job
this was very cute and polished! i enjoyed the art style, no mistakes.. the only thing i found wrong with it was that the jumping was a little wonky. great entry!
pretty fun concept! seemed kinda lackluster though
great as always! loved it
wow this is really difficult. very nice concept! yeah difficulty is kinda spread randomly.
pretty interesting!
wow, fun and pretty polished! it seems pretty hard not to get any penalties from far away, while still getting on the tree. good job!
pretty alright entry. Controls were a bit wonky, and it was very short. just seemed like a "follow the path while spamming click" game.
pretty neat. voice-acting was a nice touch
beautiful graphics, great music, and love the robot voices. but i didnt see a goal and the shooting seemed like it did nothing but enemies still died. regardless, that was entertaining.
wow this was super very fun! but i stopped after the place on the screenshot after dying 4 times and doing the level all over again. good job!
wow that was very cool! i like the minimalistic graphics, and the theme is relevant in this one. good job!
pretty interesting! and difficult. good job
yeah i thought this was too hard, as in unfair. if the walls blocked rather than killed, or if it wasnt a circular force, more like an pull or a crecent shape, this would be better. cool though!
pretty nice slender-type game! got too laggy for me. good job!
haha, funny. pretty too. good job :D
this was extremely.. interesting. i found nothing in it that was 'gamey' in any way, but it was an interesting story
quite interesting! i like how you pulled this out of the theme
nice puzzle game! some of them were easier than others, and it was mostly just watching things fall into place. good job!
HAHA wow this is pretty funny!
great artstyle! interesting concept
very fun! and nice humor ha. good job
Pretty interesting. died a lot.
interesting concept! i liked it. maybe adding a reset to default function along witht he saving rotations after failing would be good
very difficult! controls are a bit wack, but pretty nice work! i like the upgrade system
pretty fun puzzle! i liked the story
wooow this was very good! i really enjoyed this one. very creative, nice colors. and after a while i realised that it wasnt a weird robot with a cool hat. XD nice entry!
yep, couldnt find a way to win either. oh well, great game!
Pretty cool. short, but nice. good job!
this was a pretty empty game, and you can jump indefinitely.
very nice restaurant management-type game! well made. good job!
very very difficult. though i like these games, it just got annoying. good job though! also that isnt your head catching you, theres a tile below your feet
very interesting concept, and pretty difficult. i found it mainly banked off of a good spawn of blocks. but fun!
pretty nice graphics! sounds and controls were alright. was a pretty small game, but great for a first entry! nice job
i feared it would be too hard for some people. Sorry, i guess i just dont like easy games xD I tried not to make it too hard this time though.
@mcapraro shhhhhh.. ;)
@dalbinblue thanks a lot for your comment! Yes the 1 block platforming does get annoying.. But I thought it wasn't too bad since you can almost stop moving in mid-air. Maybe I put too much into the game.. I feel like nobody will get to the end haha. Same thing as I did last time. I just want people who do spend their time beating the game feel very accomplished when they do :D
@ErikU thank you! I was very surprised I was able to make any music for this since I'm never musically inspired. I guess once I made one song I just was able to make like 5-6 more xD (2-3 of which are in the ending, unfortunately. Or fortunately!)
I think my problem with this was I tried making an actual full game in the time allotted, rather than making a game for Ludum dare, similar to games entered in the competition. I doubt anyone will finish it. But if this were a standalone game not for the purpose of this competition, it would be seen as a better game. But that's just my thought
thanks for the comment!
ah thanks for the great comments! i agree with all of you :D
and maybe i will fix this up for mobile or other. i feel like bouncing off walls would be a cool mechanic, and having /some/ momentum after sliding up a wall would be very helpful
thanks a lot! i tried making the music as not repetitive as possible, but the fact that i made ANY music, never the less 6 or so tracks, baffles even me. so i can take any music criticism lightly xD
Gah thanks a lot for the amazing comments! This certainly drives my hobby to make games! :DD
Thanks! I tried having no death scenarios in the game. But there are some (one) place you must restart if you do it incorrectly.
Thanks a lot guys!
Also yes the speed is something I thought about but I think it's just at the point where it isn't too fast that it's frustrating trying to get the right angle
thank you! :D
@Madball this is very good criticism, thank you very much! All your points are well made.
For the collision box rotating with it, I agree it could be different, but that was the only way i saw i could do it.
For ground detection, yes once your aiming animation plays, you can jump from anywhere. I can EASILY fix this, but while testing, some of the most fun time was me saving myself by jumping to safety in mid-air after falling off a block, so i left it in.
So, you don't like the realism through the hitbox staying as it should while rotating, AND you don't like the non-realism of being able to jump in mid-air on rare occasions.
Also the moving platforms were annoying and caused too many problems when landing on top of. I could've made them better, but yeh.
And the motivation, I definitely agree with. I should've seen this before. Nobody has really brought this up, at least not in a way where I understood hah. You are very much correct. I can't think of a way I could add motivation.. I'll have to think about it. but this is very useful information.
Also, did you beat it?? If you did, you are the first!
@postmodestie hey alternate routes would've been a good thing to add. Why didn't I do that..
@Jiggawatt Yes i also agree. I definitely did not want enemies.. I had the great idea to put bouncing walls in after the compo ended, that wouldve been fun. Yeah buttons are the only thing right now. pretty dull I definitely agree. Let's see.. I could've added.. maybe zero-g areas where you can just fly-jump everywhere.. maybe water that you have to dive into or else you just float to the top.. Floating water where you could jump from beneath and float up.. Maybe even upgrade attachments that could adjust your spring or just add different abilities.. I wanted to add riding platforms but they caused too many problems which i ultimately scrapped and instead used them as a blocking element.
Thanks for the comments and for playing my game!
that was very confusing and intriguing. i liked it!
This is by far my favorite LD28 game. I absolutely loved everything about it. maybe a little too short, BUt there was nothing reused, no "grinding" design elements where you just do the same thing for even a few levels. the art was fantastic, music fantastic. I thought the ending IDEA was a great idea, but it felt too blunt and unrewarding.
very nice job
oh my god this was insanely fun! love it so much! audio, visuals, everything! very polished too! great!
pretty interesting! never seen anything like it. fun short little game!
pretty neat small game! ive always liked this concept
the visuals are pretty good! the gameplay is lacking a bit but otherwise it was fun to play! nice job :3
wow this is amazing for only 72 hours! i had myself playing it for a lot longer than i should have haha. great job!
nice job! seems like some good basic programming! keep it up!
awesome work bringing an online multiplayer game to a ludum dare competition! pretty interesting concept
pretty neat concept! i definitely had an idea very similar to this for my game, but i went a different route. Nice job! keep following your dreams :D
wow the art style is awesome! and its a unique twist on the generic mining game. awesome!
wow this game really is eye candy! and i am ALL about rhythm games. so this was awesome. though the calibration could be better, i played it first by sight of notes and targets, then i played it by the actual beat and i missed every one, the notes were early. otherwise, solid!
what a cool game, and the idea is very well presented! bravo! love it! quite difficult once you get pretty far though, id imagine its even more fun on a touch device :D
interesting concept! the audio was kinda jarring but it was nice!
wow awesome concept! but pretty hard hah. good job!
this is pretty confusing and slow, but kinda neat still
pretty neat! not too much of a game, but fun for what there is! good job!
wow, so pretty! and clever idea! it's presented very well. controls show don't work, instead 'Z' is move forward, and 'Q' is rotate counter-clockwise. good job!
hahhaa what a fun concept! beat it, and enjoyed it! pretty little gameplay-wise, but still fun! nice job :3
wow the graphics are pretty fantastic! i especially loved the animation on the title scree. and yeah like other's said, its pretty much just a trial and error game. except you dont learn from your mistakes since bombs dont reset. nice job though!
wow i had doubts starting out but it turned out to be pretty fun! i love the concept. its pretty hard and annoying to control, at least at the beginning; very floaty. and it was pretty had to tell what i was doing because It didnt look like i was moving at all.
awesome entry! :D
hm. the trippy bg is hard on the eyes, and makes playing fairly annoying, the paddle can travel through the walls, the ball goes through blocks from behind, it's very slow, and i dont see how the theme applies at all. quit after about half the bricks were broken.
wow that was pretty bad. kinda surprising so many people worked on it. the instructions never say to double jump, running is awkward, there's lack of feedback, and there's only 2 'levels' if you'd call them that. 1 obstacle each. nice try though.
pretty nice entry! not much going on but its a fun short game nonetheless :)
hm. interesting idea! I thought this was going to be complicated and annoying, but it was quite fun! though the boss was quite a disappointment haha, but the music was awesome! And wow that end cutscene took foreevverrrrr... also praise helix.
visuals are pretty amazing! though it is quite broken, unless intended, but doubtful. You can't use your weapon if you open your inventory at all, until you walk through another door, i was 'killed' by the monster at the start while he was dead, and the game did nothing and wouldnt let me move. otherwise, pretty ok!
hm. well. this is a game. veery short, a little glitchy, not suuper fun. but its alright. good job
hm.. seems like an interesting concept, though i don't really understand how it works. good job though!
interesting idea, but its just ok. and yeah i had to resort to going off-screen to finish a level. good job though!
wow this is quite in-depth! i love the sounds and the commands you can give. movement was a little annoying though. nice job! :D
thanks a lot guys! Yeah it could be a little faster, and i tweaked the speed a lot. unfortunately, the speed of block-breaking will boil down to how fast the character moves from one block to another, and that would mean the character moves too fast to control for some.
:D glad you all like it!
@dalbinblue AAAAAAA I am literally ecstatic that you took the time to beat my game! You are my idol I bow to you.
This just made my whole week. I don't think anyone has ever beaten a game of mine.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Also thanks for pointing those out. I can definitely see why those are happening (you are right). And I'm even more honored that you actually beat the levels legit despite knowing those exploits! Holy crap man
@dalbinblue I might just do that then! I also had an idea for a sequel just because I had a cool idea for a game about digging and falling down endlessly trying to escape safely. And I already got something like it!
@kill0u thanks! Yeah I was really rushing in the last few hours because I decided it was a good idea to add 3 new block types, and I needed to design a few levels for each.
@mortus wow! Thanks a lot for taking so much interest in my game to best it! :D yes I realize now how easy it is to win on unintentional conditions, I thought I designed it well enough that that couldn't happen, but 2 bugs are in place which allow that. If you can still win in the non-intended way on the updated version, then oh well. But thank you for the insightful feedback!
@rest thanks a lot! I'm so glad so many people enjoyed this!
that was ok. in every level i didnt see 1 monster because all i needed to do was shoot left and right constantly. So it was very easy, and nothing new. but it is a good effort!
interesting! this is a great text adventure game, with amazing visuals! nice job
nice game! a little slow, but looks very polished. kinda difficult too. good job!
wow nice fun simple game! very innovative! got 238!
Great job guys!
this game was both good and bad. The core gameplay was kind of interesting at first, but by the end i realized it was literally just me talking to everyone. if i talked to everyone 3 times i would "win". But I'm still not sure if i won, every person is blue but nothing told me i won, so i just have to assume i did.
Some annoying criticisms:
One of the people said to find another person to the east, but he was to the west.
the collision boxes on the trees are nowhere near right.
The graphics are pretty much completely ripped from minicraft (http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-22/?action=preview&uid=398), if not worse anyway, and the music most likely not made by you. These aren't against the rules since you did place this under a 'jam' entry, but its not very 'good-spirited' and you could've at least given credit. also the source code looks veerryy similar to minicraft's. So that is a little disheartening, but it isnt a copy so its not against the rules.
very interesting intro of sorts! professional and polished! alas, not much of a game.
wow. that was a lot better than i expected it to be! the world is seemingly MASSIVE, and i loved the idea of going between worlds and having the gravity switch (which took a while to get used to)
the only turn-off for me (and the thing that made me stop playing) was that there are no checkpoints or anything; once you die, its all the way to the bottom. You may see this as part of the design, but im going to guess most others would stop playing after the first dath. also it is very difficult trying to platform with the weird mechanics in such a small space with spikes.
If i had more time, this would be a really cool world to experience (even with the somewhat simple graphic style). So kudos to you for proving my upfront judgement wrong!
very polished! great graphics and gameplay. short and simple! nice job
nice little game! very small but its pretty charming
this was actually a lot of fun! i love how you incorporated the selection screen with the actual game. nice job!
wow this was really cool! i loved the art and the character. And also the transitions were smooth i really liked them for some reason. the controls are a bit weird, but thats fine. the core gameplay mechanic is pretty interesting, and very relatable to us coders ;). And the ending was pretty funny i like it haha. I feel like the game would've been really good if you hadnt have gotten sick! But nice entry regardless!
a web link is not required. at least one link is required, you can still change the name in the firld, there just needs to be at least one. this web link is misleading
this looked pretty cool, but was very laggy on my end. and with the first set of enemies, i assumed (even more so with the text) that i was supposed to make their lasers kill eachother, but running into them was the only way to kill them.
overall, pretty small and boring. but it was fun while it lasted
interesting idea, but the game falls short in a few areas.
Its a little glitchy with the mechanic, i managed to fall through the world at a few points, and i glitched into the room at the right because i couldnt figure out anything else to do. I put the saturn planet in the hole anf after that i was lost and i spent way too much time trying to figure it out so i stopped. the graphics arent the best but thats ok. It also looked like you imported an entire image into a tileset which is strange, but i dont know. otherwise its a cool little game! nice job
this is pretty cool!
the music is really nice, and the game plays pretty well, though you couldve put the map lower in the corner. i was confused at first what i was looking at but i figured it out.
nice job!
pretty neat. though not much to it, and i really dont see a use to use the mage.
pretty nifty! i was confused as to what i was doing most of the time but i understand. nice job
i pretty fully agree with klianc09. it was a pretty ok game, but the idea is very generic and it was too easy to cheat it. nice job otherwise
hm that was alright. it was a little buggy but still fun
This game was too hard.
http://imgur.com/YHeIK0y
No but really the design is beautiful. the gameplay is lacking because the only thing that makes these types of games good is balance, which this obviously doesnt have a lot of.
but what it DOES have is amazing for only a 48 hour time period! Generated stories for every combination, and not even once did i see 2 of the same template text, thats amazing. so good job!
the web link itself links to an image of a bad gateway error. so the link doesnt 'not work' its just linked to an image that has an error on it.
still no game
very satisfying game! I love that the explosions are in stereo sound too. but it is just a tid-bit of a game.
wow i LOVED this! this was an ultimate experience all the way through i love everything about it except that theres no goal, but it may not need one.
The environments and mood and everything were fantastic, and i continued to find new themes and music after like half an hour of playing it!
this was amazing great job
i do not understand
This looks really cool! and multiplayer! but i cant seem to do anything. i create an account and spawn in a world, then nothing i do does anything. I will rate when I am able to play
well. that was a game. theres really nothing to this, and the collision detection is very broken. pink player has the easiest time with it. no relation to theme. very boring.
I have multiple criticisms with this game:
1. I do not see how this follows the 'connected worlds' theme in any way besides the opening scene with worlds colliding
2. the game crashed several times trying to create the long green tiles.
3. dropping the tiles went on far too long before the other half of the gameplay came in
4. once the gamepay did come in, I didn't know what I was doing at all besides shooting at drills indefinitely.
5. the enemies are weak enough and you shoot fast enough to where you can just hold down the fire button at the end of the screen and they will never get close to you.
6. this completely makes the first part of the game useless, unless the enemy spawn part actually ends at some point for another wave to come in later, but i waited way too long for that to seem like a possibility.
7. the art is not the best but that isn't as important as design and gameplay.
positives:
1. the music is good
regardless, you did a good job so congrats.
the mood, audio, and graphics are great. the gameplay is sub-par, unfortunately. I only played 2 games, but i feel like no matter what i did i would win. the idea is pretty neat, but theres so little to it that it just feels incomplete. otherwise it was really neat! nice job
gr8 b8 m8 i r8 8/8
pretty interesting. I like the character design, and that there are different weapons, also the music and sound effects are pretty good. however, the game is way too floaty that it was hard to platform, and also you can shoot and swing at the same time which is a little weird. And i can't tell how this connects to the 'connected worlds' theme.
otherwise i thought it was neat! nice job
(just fyi, 'WEB' means its playable right from your browser, or embedded in other words. a web link to a downloads page doesnt fit)
Hoo boy I won!
This was really neat! simple and short though. good job!
wow i loved this! the music was probably what kept me from quitting haha. i did beat it, even though it was annoyingly laggy on my comp. good job!
this was super cool! i loved the feeling of flying around, and the mechanic of the lasers was perfect in my opinion; you hear a sound so you know its firing, and it will always try to shoot in your path so you are still able to avoid it (unless coming from directly infront/behind you, which shouldnt happen because you should fly towards them anyway)
I didnt beat it because i died and got too frustrated to continue, but it was still super good! nice job
This was interesting. shooting things seemingly did nothing besides push them away. the 'D' key did not work. Movement was kind of awkward. Otherwise it seemed to be pretty neat.
interesting concept! once i got the first link, however, i couldnt figure out what to do.
also the game lags pretty hard on my machine, and a lot of the times the collisions with the ground dont check so i just fall.
cool regardless!
yes, some documentation on the commands would be nice. all i did was move around a bunch and then stopped
the visual design for this game was super neat! but the gameplay felt bland. the idea is good, but removing it would make no effect if you just think of the red-lines as death. you would play it exactly the same.
regardless, it was really interesting!
YUP same here. the tv key did nothing. but up til there i thought it was cool!
pretty neat game! i like the music and the jumping. pretty difficult though trying to line things up. nice job!
pretty neat! i liked the art and sounds and such, but there was no goal and really not much to it. also the whole other universe didnt do anything to my knowledge
@sez thanks a lot for the comment!
Yes, I feel like this game could've been a lot better, even within the time limit. the ultimate goal was to make an infinite self-procedurally generating dungeon crawler rogue-like blahblah where the game is based solely on your actions but you still are in the game playing. There would be many more items and magic and logistically more polished.
but that gametype is not for everyone!
also this was a Compo entry not a Jam entry (unless you're just using 'Jam' as an overall term) but thank you very much!
thanks for all the awesome comments!! it really makes me happy to see after thinking this one wouldn't match up to my others.
@tanjent yeah that was my first idea actually; it wouldve been a tetris-like game with these planets, and every time you placed one you would go into the world and battle things and save people, but when i tried thinking of a way to incorporate the 'connection' side of that, it turned into this and i think it works better. though trying to fit planets in it pretty fun. that couldve been a cool mechanic where the more sides that touch, the more people will inhabit the planets. (though thats kinda how it is right now, the more open space you have on the worlds, the less likely a monter will destroy anything. they only destroy planets when left alone, so if they spawn in a big open area where either you can get to him easily, or there are many people, nothing will get destroyed)
and yes, the "button mashing" part is tedious, but i feel you wouldnt have noticed it as much if there were monsters about. so for like the first 2 passes, i should have made the limit lower. or made it increase for every new planet.
Thanks!!
OK thanks for the comments every one!
I just uploaded a [POST COMPO] version. this version removes the increase of dificulty for the monsters as time progresses, and the people meet limit is 30 instead of 50, and you only need to do 20 at the beggining, and also some other minor fixes.
DO NOT RATE THIS ONE, THAT IS CHEATING
It is just meant to address the problems i didnt have time to fix in the compo version.
THANK YOU!!
@ceosol If you want to see the source for it, the planet generation code is under the "screenArray" scene behavior, in the last custom even action. It basically loops through all the tiles in a 9x9 array, starting with a '+' in the middle, and each of those has a chance of creating a new tile next to it, and theres a chance for the loop to begin again depending on how many tiles there are already.
and yeah that doesn't sound right. but thank you!
@all thanks!
really polished and well done! pretty much perfect. Though something i did find annoying was that the jump did not do its full height rarely, and one level can be entirely bypassed. Otherwise, well done!
i really like the teleportation effect, but the game seems empty. nice entry though!
very interesting game! i like the story
this looks like it would've been a pretty interesting game. i liked the idea with the engine fix
pretty fun sliding puzzle clone! the puzzles were well built, not too hard, though it wouldve been nice to know the lowest possible moves for a puzzle, or at least something else.
woooow i really loved this! the idea is very original! This could be taken even further in the puzzle area i think, but you made it more strategy and action which is really cool. good job!
simply amazing. The level design is great, the art is nice, the music is soothing. amazing job!
Amazing art, sound, and animation. very inspiring!
The puzzle was very difficult for me. I think the reason why is because there was so much information with the two clocks before reading the book that i thought the numbers for the chest came from the clocks, not entirely from the book. Maybe if you made the situation with the cat come after opening the chest, it would've been less confusing. Otherwise, i thought it was very clever and cute! There were a lot more puzzle oportunities you could've done, but what you have is fine concidering the time limit and how polished the game is.
I did encounter one bug where i picked up the book(?) from my inventory and it somehow got stuck at the bottom of my screen, and i couldnt put it back and also couldn't click on anything else, which forced me to reset. Which wasn't a big deal because it's so short.
Anyway, great job! I can't wait to see more from you
wow this is surprisingly very fun!! the art could be better, but the gameplay and music is great!
wouldve liked to play it but it lags waaay too mucn on my machine. oh well
awesome game! I like the idea, and gameplay is pretty neat
pretty interesting! for a lot of time i couldnt figure out was going on, or what influence i had on what i was doing, over if just another computer was playing. i was never able to do any home base damage, but it was fun anyway! i like the animations too. good job!
well! I really liked the game. fitting this whole metroidvania on the screen is amazing.
couple of complaints: (a minor thing) enemies health doesn't reset when you die, it only respawns ones you've killed (which is a nice mechanic btw). The jumping is too fast/too much gravity. it was very hard in some wall jumping puzzles trying to get up. also the one puzzle to get the triple shot seemed way too unfairly difficult, that last under the spike is reaaally close, and the reward was terrible. the triple shot is great in theory, but it doesnt make anything easier since the hit cooldown on enemies remains the same making the time to kill them just as long as before.
Also, the ending was very anticlimactic. the whole time the player is wondering what the end of the game is going to be like with that strange enemy at the top, an intense boss battle? hopefully. but no, you just kill him. My guess is that you ran out of time, but still, its pretty disappointing.
really good! but got boring after a while, since you're basically replaying every level again, just with a new one added. I was also pretty laggy on my machine
wow this is awesome!! I love rhythm games, so of course i liked this. the music is great, and the visuals are really nice! its very difficult though haha. good job!
this was really neat! it felt very polished and i liked the progression
yep pretty much impossible to get that one snowflake (never got it) and the controls are pretty floaty for this type of game, but the art is really nice
well that was something. the equation you used for direction of the gun relative to the mouse is wrong. no music or audio, no health or goal. pretty much underwhelming. but you finished it and thats good
this is pretty fun! and hard. I like the powerups. good job!
pretty neat game! I like it, though 'leveling up' seemed very arbitrary.
pretty interesting! was confusing at first, but figured it out.
This was a really great game! The art and modeling is amazing, level designs are good, and the music is great. It was very good up until the 4th(?) level. at that point it was very frustrating. Not being able to move in air was annoying, and the jumps just felt random at times. Respawning takes too long, and it was quite annoying that you had to go through everything not only after dying, but even after getting to a goal. Also this doesn't really follow the theme since there were multiple levels, or screens if you will. otherwise, really well done
pretty interesting. i loved the music, but the gameplay was pretty bland. good job though!
wow this is really good! i love the art. the game is very polished and simple. great job!
very nice! the art style is neat, and its pretty fun. but its also pretty empty, as in not much content. but otherwise its a fun small game
very neat! i love all the different paths you can take. good job!
interesting concept, but very flawed execution. the 'puzzles' were pretty bland, but not bad. the movements were glitchy and unpredictable, gave up after falling through the world for the 5th time. the art was alright
OH GOD
I made a last-second change which broke things.
read the rules and made sure i could do this:
UPDATE TO GAME BREAKING BUG: when dying and respawning, your weapons will no longer do 0 damage.
Sorry about that everyone!
@Empyrealhell yep i know about these! sorry about those. Didnt have time to fix them so for now, just dont move as it's setting up, and stay away from the walls. I may upload a post-compo version with these fixes later. and yeah, some people have trouble seeing the small graphics. sorry about that! but they do need to be that small.
@andysolace thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the music :)
@everyone else Thank you for playing and rating!
@ceosol wow. Thank you so much for the comment!! That's really awesome to hear! I mayy work some more on this and release it later if I get the chance, who knows. I had a lot more ideas for it.
And what you say about the arrows is completely true, and it annoys me too haha. I just didn't get the chance to change it I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
@everyone else: yep it's pretty small
That's all I have to say on that ;)
@Raiyumi yeah oops I meant to comment about the map issue. I was originally going to do that but it didn't end up working and I forget why. Also it was right at the end of the time limit so it was never implemented, but I have the assets for it!
@yodamaster haha i didn't mean it that way, but you can interpret it however you'd like based on if you like it or not ;) So far many people have liked it
@Ashtom thanks a lot!
There is an invincibility period after getting hit, for both the player and all enemies. it's shorter on the enemies though. It may be quick, though, because i was testing with heavy lag so everything was pretty slowed down for me (I was streaming) and I had to guess what the timings would be like for other players. Another thing i would add in a new version if i make it is knockback to help prevent getting trapped like that.
Yeah pressing either '~' or '\' will bring up the debug console. With the version of stencyl I used, I can't do anything about that (Unless I force it to mimic that keypress when it opens to close it again, or there may be some flixel code I couldv'e run to disable it, but it doesnt matter really) so just ignore it! (or learn from it)
yes, the concept is great! the puzzle element is implemented really well, except for the bugs such as when buttons are removed while pressed, it will take multiple hits for them to get back to their original toggle states. otherwise, well done!
pretty fun! i like being able to switch guns, and the art is pretty cool. good job!
pretty neat! thr drift mechanics fit really well. although sometimes stars spawn nearly off-screen. nice job!
pretty interesting game! i thought the color choice was neat. the different weapons were nice, though the phone never worked right for me so i never used it, and since there were only 6 weapon options i didnt really have trouble choosing 5. Otherwise i thought it was fun! my score was 66563.
This was hilarious! i was pretty confused at first but after figuring out the connection points it became pretty clear. awesome job!
very good! The scene with the chest was super fun to watch
nice little story game! pretty short, yes, and even shorter since there's really no choices or altering paths, the player basically just follows a story. my only other complaint is that the text selections was wonky and pretty annoying. sometimes it double-clicks through the text, especially if i hold it down for too long. you should've just made the spacebar a 1 hit toggle instead of a time-based check for if the spacebar is down. same for the other keys, it would've made scrolling through the options less annoying. kinda nit-picky but still noticeable.
pretty neat! swinging a big weapon like this is pretty fun. though a few things: there should be more feedback when you kill and enemy, and there should be more reason to kill them. right now theres no reward for killing them, and all it really helps for is keeping the screen clear. another thing is you can just sit in the ball and never get hurt (unless one spawns inside you and kills you before it detects the ball)
pretty fun though
i really like this idea! the game is very solid and its pretty satisfying to catch your head
nice little game! felt pretty difficult though, and i just got lucky and got it to my area before the pirates showed up. i like the visuals
yep very unpolished. the graphics you made are pretty mediocre and the others are stolen, which is against the rules. the music was fine, but got annoying quickly. nothing does damage, both the player's attacks do nothing, the green bar at the top seems useless, the collision detection is very broken.
but you still made something and that's good.
pretty interesting game! i looved the graphics and colors. i think the block destroying mechanic is neat, but doesnt work too well for a platformer. at least if you had the blogs reset after you die, it would make a little more sense. same with ammo. if you collect some then die, you cant get that back. your best chance is to beat everything first try. another thing i saw is sometimes you dont get hit by spikes/bullets.
after the first area it was a lot easier and i kinda just fell a bunch until i found what i now know is the boss. i thought the game was very cool but didnt feel like i played it right, if that makes sense. good job :)
thanks for the comments!
you're totally right, you cant restart. i forgot to reset some variables when the game resets, my bad. i dont think that counts as a 'game breaking bug' enough for me to fix it after the deadline. if it does, let me know and ill fix it real quick!
(just refresh to reset, btw.)
@GAFBlizzard very valid points! i agree with all of these, and would definitely address them if was going to continue with this game. I do think the life preserver enemies are pretty unfair, and debated weather i should let the player hit the life preservers out of the air. i decided it would be too easy if i did, but they are still frustrating.
The win condition is supposed to be killing every enemy in the level, but there were some problems with the code and i ended up making the required kills a little less than the amount of enemies (presumably).
And i just thought swinging the fish at the food made it feel more like the fish was actually 'eating' the food, but it is pretty confusing.
Thanks for the lengthy critique!
very very good! pretty much super crate box meets necrodancer, as some comments have stated.
i like the idea! its pretty hard to kill the helis though
I liked this! Difficulty ramps pretty quickly, which is good! makes it a quick, easy game to play and try to get better scores. I got to 10 rounds. I like the animations
This wasn't bad! But it wasn't great either. For a first time it's totally fine, but there's literally 1 choice (unless I missed something). The audio was pretty good, unfortunately unratable.
Man i spent way longer playing this than i thought! Very very nice, fun and creative!
The only issue is it's REALLY easy to break. just split and tab to a new blob at the same time, and things get verry weird. its not super advantageous though. There's an insane ammount of levels for a jam like this, many props!
The cylinder idea is pretty neat! But the game is pretty hard right off the start, and not in a good way, more of an uncontrollable way, as in things come by too fast to react to easily, and you move too fast to make accurate movements, at least for me. It also got boring pretty quickly. Otherwise i thought the idea was cool!
very nice! amazing music and art, and very polished! It was way too difficult at times though, there seemed to be a very steep difficulty curve
this is awesome! You guys managed to make a pinball game super innovative and really fun! not boring at all. My only complaints are that some sounds were louder than others, and the camera didnt pan quick enough at times so i couldn't see where the ball was going. otherwise it was super neat! Also the music is really good
interesting little game! the art style caught my interest and im glad i checked it out! i only wish it were a bit longer
On the first play i thought this game was either too easy or impossible, but after a few plays i found it surprisingly competetive, to some extent. nice and simple!
Wow i really liked this! the concept is really good and feels pretty well balanced! and the art is nice
wow this was neat! I love the art and visuals, and the music is pretty good too. I only wish there was more to do!
Wow i loved this so much! the visuals are amazing, and the sounds and gameplay and everything! I found the treasure on my 2nd game (it was right near where I spawned, somehow), Is that the end of the game or is there more past that? nothing really happened after I dug it up.
Nice job!
Interesting take on both themes. I find the game way to fast and sudden, especially for these controls, and swinging the sword and stopping instantly is very jarring in between lightspeed running. The hitboxes are not correct sometimes, i literally could not kill the 2nd red guy multiple times.
I do however like how you represented the 'you can only kill things larger than you' system by both size AND weapon range.
Nice job!
wow this was awesome! really nice idea, simple and effective! got to 278.
I'm not sure I fully understand this game. Is it not most efficient to hold the 'g' button for a little less than 5 minutes then spam the 's' key? interesting, none the less
wow this is really awesome! the art and animations are amazing for a ludum dare game or otherwise. there were some weird technical issues i had such as sound taking forever to play and lag, but otherwise very nice!
pretty neat game! but not a lot too it, just felt like a betting game, where sometimes you have obvious choices, and sometimes you just get bad choices. i liked it though
this was pretty good. couple complaints though, the hitboxes were a little ambiguous, some jumps were impossible or close enough to count, sometimes you spawn pretty much right on an enemy, or the platforms are so close you just move upwards rally fast and cant really decide to go anywhere like if theres a gold potato or something, and 'dying' was a bit anticlimactic when you fall below the screen just a bit and are still able to climb back up, but you're dead so it doesnt matter. also on the other side of the enemy argument, enemies arent really that much of a hazard, they're just kinda there.
otherwise, the game is pretty charming and the art isnt that bad. the christmas mode was a neat touch. and it fit the theme well!
very interesting! i liked the aesthetic and idea. it got really intense!
wow this was absolutely amazing. it felt like a whole story i was living through, and it really felt like my decisions mattered! Super impressive for 48 hours, one of my favorites so far
haha that was a very creative idea! and well executed! though somewhat difficult to control at points
interesting concept! it was kinda confusing at first but i understood it eventually. the controls were hard to get used to though
interesting concept! I was confused for a while, and im still not sure if i understand the game fully, at least not the right side of it. but i love the art style!
hm, pretty interesting game! i feel like it should change directions on its own without you needing to let go and press again, it was kinda confusing. also, you shouldnt really label the link as a 'web' link, that generally means it's embedded in the browser and you dont have to download it.
otherwise i thought it was neat!
@hexagore yeah definitely! I had very little time to balance unfortunately, so yeah it's a litttllee too easy at the beginning and a taadd too hard after like the 5th game haha. (admittedly i haven't even beaten it myself. Who will be the first???)
Thanks for the comments!
@hissssssssss wow, thanks so much! That's definitely what I was going for with this, I'm glad it showed!
@Zarkith That's a good point! The amount of money that drops represents how much you get per game, but it doesn't give your total, you're right.
You can make the 'Escape' purchase of $1000 your 'high score' goal then! And if you mean 'high score' as in, higher than other people, know at least that the creator of the game has yet to win ;)
Thanks for playing and commenting :D
@nonetheless just how I like it ;)
@fluidvolt haha then I did my job well! When i first programmed in the dismemberment (I did all the art and every bit of programming for it at once before testing) I couldn't stop laughing for like 10 mins haha. At that point i knew I had a good game on my 'hands' ;D
@johntherobot ooh sweet! I'm glad you liked the WIP screenshots :D
Thanks everyone!
@Tipyx woah I had this exact same thought as i was making it! If i had more time I would've considered it!
@esayitch thanks for the compliments!
@Riftpoint thank you very much!
@mortus wow! thats amazing, i think the most i've gotten is like $400 haha. great job! Yeah I've noticed that one issue with the snake game, and i figured it was small enough to not care too much about, but it is annoying.
Thanks for playing!
@vortex thanks for the feedback! yes i definitely agree the 'fast' should be reworded. I guess a good compromise for the difficulty complaint would be to greatly reduce the difficulty if you're seeing the game for the first time, then do it normally afterwards. If I make a post-compo version i'll definitely consider these changes!
@Frenchie thanks so much! and no, I still have not beaten it actually haha. Actually i think its the only game of mine i haven't beaten. I think if i've spent more time playing it I would have beaten it but I've been busy with other things!
Thanks for the comments and ratings everyone! It makes me so happy
@ButtonMasherBros I'm so honored!
@kmakai oh yeah that'd be good!
interesting game. i wouldve gone further but it was super frustrating to play because of the controls, since i cant right click and left click at the same time. also you cant click or more the mouse outside of the window which was annoying. other than that it was a charming game with cool art and gameplay! nice job
this is exactly like one of the ideas i had in the beginning of the LD! I think it's a neat control idea, and it plays alright. the only thing i didnt like is how the growing orbs made it a little hard to get certain aiming right since it introduce a new scope of rotation. nice job!
i liked this! the graphics are amazing and it's very humorous :D i did get frustrated with it and quit though. nice job!
very interesting visuals! the hitboxes were a bit small, and there's not too much gameplay. but that's not necessarily a bad thing! simple and effective
I love the visuals! And I like how eating the pellets makes you physically grow in all directions, naturally making the course harder as you go. couple bugs though: you can press 'down' to set your speed to a low amount, but consecutive presses speed yourself up greatly, allowing you to go all the way up without eating any pellets. also I got to the end eating all the golden pellets but 1, and the game says i got '8/8'.
Nice job otherwise!
interesting game! i liked the concept, but it was pretty hard to control still. beat it though!
i really like this concept! pretty fun, though gets boring kinda quick. also, this was more of a one button game than a two button game, the 'zoom' thing just felt shoehorned in (why would anyone want to zoom back in?? unless im missing something)
otherwise super cool!
wow this is awesome! i really love the art and the gameplay is super unique! Jumping between asteroids is super satisfying! I feel like you should be able to jump and begin moving quicker, though. Also I'm pretty sure i won after i died once, and the game crashed so i didnt get to continue.
this was neat! the music is cool and the art is really nice. the training games were a nice touch too. i wasnt able to get past the rat though. he would just punch constantly and even if i timed my punches perfectly between his his health still regained faster.
since the update i came back and played it again. got to the end this time, really good!
really well designed! i really enjoyed the puzzles, and the colors are pretty nice
really nice effects! i wish the shape wasnt always a cube though
really really interesting!! i loved the mechanic. the sounds and visuals are great too. awesome game
this was really cool! the puzzles were great, though i did get stuck for a bit at the second to last (?) one. very polished though, except for the boxes landing on the character
interesting game. after getting the 3rd form i couldnt do anything.
nice game! i love the visuals, very fun to play
really really interesting concept! very hard to get my head around, but still managed to beat it. really cool, good job!
interesting idea! i like the rage mechanic
nice job
interesting concept, was pretty difficult though. and the text was very hard to read, i spent like 2 minutes just trying to start the game. nice sounds though
really interesting mechanic! and well implemented too, i thought this would be a lot easier to break but its pretty stable. The only thing is theres really no progression, the first wall is the same as the 20th.
otherwise nice job
really interesting! Nice take on the theme too, shifting shapes... heh
but yeah the art and music are amazing!
nice job!
this game is very difficult! but a really cool idea.
nice game! its well polished, but gets difficult really quickly (after you win)
nice job!
really nice! i like the visual design a lot. i didnt know about the shape switching mechanic, and wouldnt have tried clicking around to find it if i didnt read the info, maybe that could be described better like in the control screen
otherwise nice job!
interesting concept. not sure how the mechanics play into it, or even the theme for that matter. the art is cute though
hahaha that was hilarious. i loved the character switching mechanic. i wasnt able to beat it though.
nice job!
wow really nice game! i liked the mechanics and the smoothness of the line is really pleasing. its pretty hard to control but other than that nice job!
really interesting gameplay, havent seen anything like it. but i dont feel like the player has too much influence on the game
interesting game. good concept, and i liked the story and humor, but the game wasnt very polished. good job though!
neat mechanic, was kinda lost on the goal of the game. and the mechanic were shooting makes you lose 'life' s interesting.
nice job though!
really innovative! i love the music and visuals. very nice
interesting game! the walls are visually hard to read, but the rest of the art is good. i like the switching animations.
interesting idea! never seen a programming game in a ludum dare
had a lot of fun playing with a friend! You should also note that pressing up again makes you go faster during the leap. nice job
interesting idea, but i couldnt get the dad to not catch me. and it also took a long time to reset.
graphics are very nice. but i have no idea what i'm doing. im just randomly walking around only knowing that theres some door and i can change shapes in a RPS type system. this coupled with the game randomly yelling memes and 'XD so random' humor at me, makes for a very confusing experience.
but the sounds and visuals are very good.
WOW thanks for all the amazing comments!! Im so glad you all like it!
@sez the standalone download is in the source! You could also try a different browser
@ORECROS thanks for the feedback! I can see the headache issue, if i work on this in the future ill definitely address that!
and great I cant escape this meme hell
@thristhart thanks a lot for playing!
glad you all like it
@Avant-Marde thank you for such a long comment! Yes, the shapeshifting is based on the world not the character, both in the visuals and with terrain changing to allow you to access more locations.
I'm glad you beat it, even though you found it 'horribly difficult' haha. I hope its not as difficult to others
And thanks for the info on Chrome with the pixels, i never tested on a different computer so i didn't know if it was just on my end.
Thanks everyone else for the very nice comments!
@mrStrings thank you! yes i actually fixed the slopes tolerance 2 days after the compo, i just never uploaded that version. ill probably do that now because i dont see a reason not to (it'll be a different link, dont worry)
And i played and rated wolfbit before this comment. cool game
@StMatn thanks for the feedback! That was part of the reason why i made the 'sight radius' bigger outside, because those areas tend to be bigger and need more foresight. it also fit aesthetically
thanks everyone!
@CoderJoe its actually not a shader, but an array of sprites! If you're experiencing lag try the post-compo version if you werent.
@aeveis oooh these are really good ideas!! ill keep these in mind when i continue the project later on. And yeah i can see how the flapping would be tedious, i may concider letting players hold the button. as for seeing the world change, i originally planned for that but it would be very difficult to make, and also probably impossible if the change happened in a different level.
@CaptainPilot hm I'd like to know which places you are referring to. The tightest "jump" is probably 5 pixels at least, and that's just dashing through some spikes, not even a jump. The closest actual jump is not even around spikes, it's the first jump on the floating grass areas at the top right of the world.
But if you didn't, try the post-compo version which makes slopes easier to deal with
@Nolocality yeah, right? I think its really interesting, trying to be able to rhythmically press one button while trying to navigate with 2 other buttons using the same hand. I think about that a lot and relate it to those launchpad players who can play separate parts of songs of the same hand and keep in beat.
But yeah i do realize that is very difficult to do for a lot of people so I'll probably look for a better solution in the future
@managore thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it!
i looove the pixel art! really nice. the gameplay is a bit lacking, however.
wow, this game was really well designed! I never knew there were more interesting variants on the snake formula. Very impressed!
Beat all the levels and got all the non-required item things. also the music is really good!
And....... is that.. loss at the end.. why would you meme on us like this..
oh and forgot to write in my last comment but I found 2 glitches, one is you can spit out blocks into holes even when you have none, and one time i moved onto my tail after eating a block and got stuck.
pretty neat! i liked the main mechanic, it could probably be built upon a lot too
I only found the last level a little awkward, i kinda just needed to get lucky.
otherwise well done!
interesting idea. i liked the art, the sounds were a little jarring though. and its also a little unfair having enemies spawn from the things you're trying to collect
interesting gameplay, i like it. i dont see the benefit of switching to plane mode. otherwise nice job
very nice pixel art! i wish the game were more engaging though.
wow this looks really nice! loove the visual design, and interesting gameplay too! nice job
very interesting game. i dont know if ive ever seen a scratch game on ludum dare, so good job with the tools you used! Playing in turbo mode really makes this an interesting experience haha
the music was really good, and the shape shifting mechanic was pretty interesting. nice job
this is a really interesting idea! i love the design.
nice job!
interesting concept! very cute. i do wish there were more to the game though
interesting game! i like the art, and the transform mechanic is nice
i love the art! neat concept too, would like to see this worked on further
ooh i like the intro! havent seen much of those in ludum dare. i do think you chose a strange control scheme, i think just colliding with the orbs should collect them
nice graphics! really polished, though there could be more mechanics to compliment the main gameplay
interesting idea! really fun to play, but i would like some other goal rather than just time. nice graphics too
very cool! reminds me of old physics flash games. i liked it!
haha nice game. the voicework is a nice touch, but it was way to confusing for my mind (at least between the circle and square)
i liked the visuals though! good job
nice game! seems really big for a ludum dare game. it does feel a little slow though, and i never found out what money did
very nice game! controls felt really nice, and the game was very polished. good job
interesting concept! that last level was very hard haha. nice job
nice job with this! multiplayer games are always impressive to see in Ludum dare. this one is a pretty neat idea too, though difficult to play
interesting premise! and nice art and sounds. i like it
really interesting mechanic! ive never seen anything like it before. it makes the game really difficult but in a good way. and the visuals are really awesome. nice job!
interesting concept. wouldve liked to see more built on this idea
very nice art! cool idea too
nice game! liked the design, could be more to the game though.
great audio! and interesting gameplay. could be built upon more though
i really like the art! but im a little confused on the gameplay. for one it freezes frequently and makes it difficult to play, the shooting seems to miss most of the time except when the enemy is in a specific place, and usually there isnt enough ammo to not lose health even if i do hit the enemies.
woooow i loove the visual design! really nice choice of colors in all the stages, and pretty interesting gameplay. As the shapes approach i always think they're too difficult/ambiguous to easily pick the right rotation but im surprised each time when i do it right.
nice job!
amaazinng art and really good music and sound. the game mechanic is pretty cool, but i wasnt able to beat it.
nice job!
pretty good! interesting ideas and controls, but maybe kinda bland. with more weapons or movement options might make it better
super awesome visuals and music. interesting puzzles too! but pretty bland. There's a lot more you could have done with the level design on top of just teleporters.
good job!
pretty cool game! nice puzzles, that reaally ramp in difficulty quickly. which makes sense, since there's only 4 of them
the game doesn't really run well though. it lags every time i place a wall
otherwise i thought it was fun. nice job!
gosh that art is so charming. and the music too! oh man
but one of the nice days i didn't get any text :(. what a sad day
despite the lack of content and gameplay, it's still a nice little game. well done :)
I suuper love the visuals and overall design. the game itself is pretty hard though, maybe too hard. having ammo spawn on-top of enemy spawners is pretty annoying. and also having to hit spacebar and then click to restart is weird. why not make both spacebar? or just not a second command at all
either way i thought it was a cool game
interesting idea, but pretty poorly executed. its nearly impossible to anticipate where you are when you spawn, so you basically just die instantly. and sometimes you spawn on top of the previous path anyway, so you dont even have a choice
with that issue fixed this may have been a cool entry
really cool game, lots of content! Maybe a little too 'in your face' all at once when you start though, like maybe let the abilities and weapons be collectible/upgrades?
either way, nice job!
haha fun idea. I like the artstyle. though eventually the game just devolved to clicking on literally everything
but good job!
haha really nice! i liked the art style and the audio. i coulnd't pick up one of the weapons though
but good job
really cool! interesting idea and nice art. the end was kinda sad though :(
nice entry!
Interesting game! Pretty fun to play. but there are some audio issues that were really bad. the skull laugh was like 100x louder than anything else, it clipped my headphones every time. which happened a lot because i didnt know how to attack for a while. and most of the sound effects popped, but thats not as bad
the music was cool. It's definitely a remix but i cant remember of what.
regardless i liked the game
Really nice graphics, and really cool idea. it was pretty boring though, and kinda tedious just placing buildings. it would have been nice to be able to see your objectives and current scores as you were playing
sooo beautiful. I absolutely loved the graphics. Though they were very hard on my computer, and i only got about 20fps
the gameplay is interesting, but nothing new. I don't really think it needs to be, though. It does it's job just fine
nice job!
Yep I agree with the others; start out progressing faster then get slower
otherwise i thought it was a nice little clicker game :)
This is super awesome. I reaallly love the visual effects and style in general. oh man.
The gameplay is a little confusing, which really adds to that wonder/exploration feel. Really interesting entry!
pretty cool puzzle! I imagine it was tough to design so many elements in a single area. nice job!
really nice pico8 entry! the graphics were very pleasing. I couldnt figure out how to pass all objectives, but it was neat anyway!
interesting idea! pretty difficult too, i only got through like 15 before i started just spamming hint to see what the words were
nice job
really nice! awesome art and theme.
really nice pixel art. the music is good too. its pretty long though, i got kinda tired of it after level 15. they're good puzzles though!
pretty nice little game! I liked the intro cutscene, and the art is nice. There could have been more content of course. also maybe some more feedback when you kill certain enemies.
nice job!
this is extremely well made. I'm scratching my head just trying to think of how you programmed this. Such an incredible mechanic. the puzzles are super well made too, but maybe a bit difficult. I'll most likely come back to this to try to beat it. the sounds/music are great too
pretty cool game! the attack sequence is too short most of the time, so its pretty difficult. otherwise i liked it!
this is like a nice solo version of game dev tycoon, just without the option and with added gameplay. its pretty cool! but pretty short, you get the idea after a few minutes (unless theres more to see after i stopped)
nice job!
really nice! the art and story is really charming. the controls were a bit awkward, but it was fun anyway!
nice job!
really interesting idea, but the controls are horribble and the physics are very glitchy. I almost managed to beat it despite that, but fell through the floor at the end and didn't want to go through that again.
otherwise its a really neat mechanic! could be interesting having fixed those issues
pretty cool. i like the art and music a lot, but the game is kinda unnecessarily difficult. i only barely passed the first level, and the second was identical besides another enemy so i didn't try. i also don't know how i'm supposed to attack or shoot? ctrl didn't work, unless you find weapons in later areas
nice entry regardless!
interesting idea! I like hoe you have to limit your screaming so you dont fall. also just being able to fall into the void is pretty morbid haha.
nice job!
Thanks to both of you!
If anyone else is experiencing lag, please try the HTML5 version I just uploaded. Thanks!
@sepharoth213 dang what a comment. I really appreciate it!
@TacoTruckGames Glad you liked it!
Yes, keys getting stuck is an html5 issue. Virtually all html5 games have this issue (unless they do some hacky workaround). Since the game is run inside a frame, if your mouse clicks outside of the frame when you are holding down a key, it doesn't ever trigger the release for that key. You have to regain focus and click and release the key again to stop it. My only advice is to just try not to click outside the screen (or use the flash one)
As for the second glitch, I'm surprised you found it frustrating! I found that glitch in the last couple hours of dev and purposefully left it in because I thought it was fun. Once you have all the upgrades the game becomes pretty trivial, but you can spam-click the continue button to go to like level 100 to see how far you can get.
@DalesDiscountTires yeah, if anything i'd like to make the laser feel nicer. there was some weird issue with the knockback effect. also yeah me too! if you check out the timelapse you may notice i had plans for at least one other weapon. if i ever revisit this i'll definitely add more in!
Thanks for all the great feedback everyone! I really appreciate it :D
Thanks for the comments!
@ShuddaHaddaLottaFun there definitely should not have been any instance where you could take 2 damage at once. Even if the function call for taking damage was done twice on the same line it would take health only once
The laser beams from lamps deal 2 damage, so they would take 2 hearts if you don't have the defense upgrade.
Or perhaps you thought losing a whole heart meant taking 2 hits. That is true only after you upgrade your defense.
Really cute! I love the effect the snow makes when it melts
this was pretty fun! shooting and killing is pretty satisfying. nice job!
Pretty cool idea. It's kinda easy to just go forever by not upgrading the storage area. you can just drag the items directly between trucks, and since the difficulty scales mainly (or only?) based on the storage size you can keep doing that forever.
otherwise i thought it was cool! nice job
