Adore the art style. It may only be because I was a huge Guitar Hero player back in the day, but I found the difficulty curve to be really easy. Still had a good time, though! :)
Very unique game, like nothing else I've played for this event. Great art, cool concept, and fun writing. I really enjoyed this.
This game is funny! It's also challenging, perhaps too challenging for me. Still an awesome concept and humorous execution.
Fun, simple game. I could definitely get addicted to this, but I wish there was an easier way to judge how power affected the trajectory of the star.
"What is this game I am playing?" was all I could think when I first booted it up. I can't decide if the disorientating art is the best thing ever, or too much and hinders the gameplay. Either way, it's cool enough that it's worth perfecting if you were to go that route.
Destructable environments are always awesome! I wish the forward canon was a bit more powerful, though. The side canons do more damage, but you can't see the damage they do. :( Strong base for a full game with some polish and goals added.
I feel like this game could have a geometry wars style frantic gameplay, but it's a little too frantic for me to keep up with. It may be because I'm never sure where I'm going to spawn next. That said, it still looks great and has a ton of potential.
I am a huge fan of the "control 4 people at once" idea, especially when the controlled characters play different roles. Unfortunately, for this game specifically, I had the most success by running the orb carrier to the altar alone. There's a great game being set up here, it just needs some tweaking and elaboration.
Awesome game. Fun, addictive, and a strong application of the theme. I especially like the combination controls of WASD and mouse functionality for choosing and placing the chosen block.
Neat puzzle game! With the right goals and progression, this could be really addictive.
Being able to fire the arrow multiple times is the key component to this idea that makes it awesome. I thought this entry was fun and cool, even if that boss was too intense for me, haha.
Strong use of the theme, and I dig the story setup. Having the customers buy multiple burgers in a single day adds a memorization component that I enjoyed. Wish I could spend my tip money on something, though.
A cool homage to River City Ransom! I enjoyed the light storyline elements most, but wish there was a stronger connection to the theme. The art's pretty cool too, especially in the ending scenes.
Once I figured out the result of which direction I chose, this game became one of my favorites so far. Awesome graphics, and the solution is so simple but not immediately obvious. Great work!
Simple, but cool game. I'm a huge fan of the Matrix effect, so it was awesome to see it in an entry.
This game seems familiar... hmmmm.
I liked it! Smart use of the theme and fun to play. I just wish the super soaker was more useful!
I dig the character design! The main character is really cute, and the audio goes well with the style. I didn't have much fun with this entry, though.
This is a really rad game. Knowing that every puzzle's answer is a single move is mind boggling at times. Well done!
This reminds me of a mini-game in Kirby Superstar! Fantastic artwork and a well done difficulty curve, but the setup feels like it moves a bit too slow.
I enjoyed the storyline setup, and the game itself is simple but fun.
Even with the caveat that there's not a real game here, the foundation is strong. I dig the hearing effect and feel like there's a whole game in that feature alone.
I'm sorry to hear about your original project! This project is pretty fun, though, so it's not a total loss.
I enjoyed the writing on the hints, but they were occasionally too vague for me to figure out. Still a fun entry, and a clever use of the theme.
This game is awesome. Like... "I should tell my other gamer friends about this" awesome. It was the right length, told its story well, and managed to connect with me. Well done!
I may have encountered a bug, though? The room with the scroll and the chest, I moved on without grabbing either item and it said I grabbed the scroll.
There's a strong foundation for a tower defense game here. Buying turrets is that extra piece that sold me on it. Good work!
I appreciate games like this that have concepts I never would have dreamed of. It took me a bit to fully understand the rules of the game, but once I got it down I enjoyed the heck out of it. Red knight is such a jerk!
I love the name and concept of this game! Trying to maintain the chain of explosions is a cool core gameplay mechanic.
Incredible work. I love that all the enemies are unique and react to player movements. This entry is awesome and I could lose hours trying to progress in it.
The game plays pretty well if you don't exploit the infinite jump glitch. The jump has a nice arc and feels responsive. It seems like a game on its way to be something cool, especially with whatever it is the main character is holding. With some enemies and another mechanic or two, this could be rad.
Audio helps make this game tense; it really sells the atmosphere. Game was fun, but the one life stipulation is a major hindrance.
Took me a second to understand the requirements to proceed, but once I figured that out I was hooked. The concept is so simple, but so challenging at the same time. Great work!
Wow, this entry is awesome. Despite the included screenshot and opening dialog, it took me forever to figure out I could curve the shot, haha. Excellent game from top to bottom. Graphics, audio, theme, fun... it's all there.
One of the best entries I've seen. Great dialog, cool idea, and fun gameplay. A greater variety of explosives in the levels could push this to the next level.
I like the old-school GTA aesthetic mixed with the zombie gameplay. It also has a killer tone and mood that I enjoyed.
Incredible writing. The only word I can use to describe this entry is joy. I smiled the whole time I played it. The justification for why the genie may only grant one wish is darn clever!
Great art and effects! Having the movement restricted to a circle adds an extra layer of difficulty that I enjoyed. I felt the use of the theme could have been stronger, but the game is otherwise awesome.
This is one of those games that got me excited before I pressed a single button. Love the concept, level progression, and level design. Perhaps a bit too tough for its own good, but still a lot of fun.
I love the graphical style, especially the vignetting and noise overlay. Gameplay seems like it could be great, but I seem to be really bad at it, haha.
I never knew a racing game with one button could be that fun. What this game lacks in flare, it makes up for in enjoyment.
Wow, level 3 is rough! I like the concept and dig the music; I just wish I was better at it.
Killer mood and nice story, but the game is really tough. I almost was hoping for a death counter at the end of the game, haha.
If there was a dialog that said "Click here to preorder the full game" after the 30th level, I would have clicked this. This is just incredibly fun, addicting, and well done.
I'm going to keep this .exe and possibly speedrun it.
This is really rad. I am, unfortunately, terrible at it but I got a kick out of seeing how deep I could dive on very easy. A really well executed original concept. Can't say enough good things, haha.
Took me a second to get the hang of it, but I really like the strategy involved with the lift object. Bummer about the DirectX lack of sound.
Not my kind of humor, but I played a pretty fair chunk of it so there's definitely something here that appeals to me, haha. Really dug the voice clips.
Man, the gravity on those planets is intense. Awesome once you get the hang of it, but I'll admit I'm still pretty bad, haha.
A little buggy, but a strong start to what could wind up as a pretty cool doom-style FPS. Congrats on your first Ludum Dare! :)
I went 105 before I faceplanted into a boat! Simple but enjoyable game suitable for mobile devices if it's expanded on a bit. :)
Really dug the mood created by the lighting and the objects seeming to pulse a bit. I also thought the movement sound effect was awesome and satisfying in a strange way. Great work!
Switching between characters is a cool feature and I like the art design. Would definitely play more, but I appear to be very bad at the game, haha.
Simple but challenging and enjoyable. Great work!
Simple but effective. I really like the wall moving mechanic; it add an extra layer of complexity without being too confusing.
I can't lie, I think this could be the base to an amazing mobile game. The kirby-style graphics are adorable, and its addictiveness is undeniable. Awesome job.
I won alien abduction! I have to admit, clicking to reveal the tiles is satisfying in a similar way to real scratch off tickets. Silly project, but well done.
@Penguincat Perhaps a difficulty mode that adds specialty tiles at a faster rate would work. I believe it should only restart from level 1 if you game over... There's no limit to the levels, so once you reach around level 8 you've seen it all.
@borrismoose I had originally planned for powerups but ran out of time. I suppose I could drop the health of the inner tiles but I felt the early stages went fast enough.
@porglezomp & @jacklehamster Not sure what's wrong. :( If input isn't working on the web version clicking to a different tab and clicking back sometimes works for me. Unfortunately, I don't have a mac to test the game on so I'm totally in the dark there.
@porglezomp I am. I believe the only edit I made to the default input settings was renaming one of the "fire"s to "shoot" and adding a "pause" command.
@jujule I always go back and forth on the Mac/Linux versions because I have no way to test or support them, since I don't have a Mac or Linux box.
I'm torn because I don't want to exclude non-windows users, but I also don't want to potentially provide a bad or broken experience for them without knowing it. If the Unity exports are generally stable/consistent, though, maybe I should throw caution to the wind and just include them.
There's an incredibly strong base for a mobile game here, I believe. It's very calming, simple, and rewarding. Great work!
Simple but with enough enemy variance to remain interesting. Not a bad look, either, even with the simple graphics.
Oh hey, someone else went with the "rotate around a circular object" idea! Awesome! This is a pretty neat idea, but I feel like it needs more obstacles to add more of a challenge.
I really like the idea of a turn-based submarine "shooter" of sorts! I'm a bit impatient, though, so the game's pace was a big of a drag for me.
This seems like a decent base for a children's game. I could totally see this being refine and expanded to handle several learning tasks. Pretty neat!
That "gotcha!" clip is awesome. Really dig the visual effect.
I'm terrible at every Ludum Dare game, I think, haha. Cute, simple idea that harkons back to a lot of flash games I would play while not paying attention in school. :)
That was pretty rad. I really enjoyed the mood and writing. It was pretty easy to get lost, though. The final sequence was an interesting change of pace, but I would have been fine if the game was just an adventure game without any action sequences.
I did not play on the post-LD version.
Great use of the theme! The ending is pretty intense... I hope I chose right.
Really dug the art direction and graphics, although it seems like the weapons maybe didn't have time to get textured. Also loved the music. Really cool game that could be fantastic with some polish and extra time. :)
Simple, fun game! Took me a second to figure out exactly how it worked, but once it clicked I enjoyed it thoroughly. Good work!
I dig the atari vibe and the design/interlocking of the three worlds. Really cool entry.
This is super rad. Great start to what could easily be fleshed out into a full-blown Angry-Birds-style mobile game. Very impressed.
Art is so cute! I also really dig the controlling two characters at once aspect, especially with the shared health bar.
@jprogman - I've played guitar for many years, so for the music, I use a program called Tabit to build a song and export to midi. From there, I use GXSCC to convert the midi to a chiptune-y .wav!
I'm sad you got stuck! I tried to prevent that from happening, but I could only fit so much testing into the 48-hour period, haha. Thank you for the kind words. :)
Really dig the screen separation and controlling two characters as once. I think there's a lot of depth to that mechanic left to utilized, and that's exciting. Enjoyed the ending as well. :)
That ending! :O Silly premise, but a solid start to an adventure game. Well done.
Really dig the visual style, though it was difficult to discern what was ground and what wasn't at times. Great work.
Pretty neat infinite runner. The world shift effect is awesome and I really enjoyed the aesthetic of the game.
Neat game! I really enjoyed the momentum and effects, especially going into hyper drive.
Really impressed by the wavy dream effect and mood. Gameplay reminded me a bit of Lemmings, which I adore, so that was also rad. Wish it explored multiple abilities more, but it is a short time to make a gamer after all. Great work!
Oh hey, the world swap mechanic in this game reminds me of my game except slightly different. Really cool to see a separate take on a similar idea. Lots of fun, though, and tons of puzzle potential! Only wish the switch button was on the right mouse as well so I could play with just the mouse. :P
@ladybenko It's set to advance if you press space, escape, or return. I didn't realize that might not work on Mac keyboards :(
@lycrashampoo I was never able to find the cause of that jump bug, unfortunately.
Jumping on enemies replenishes your health, but since the sprite changes either way I can understand the confusion.
It is a tad slow... in hindsight, a run button was probably in order. Thanks for the feedback! :)
Really cool idea use of theme, but dang is it tough! I love that the guard is playing a tablet game as a way to provide additional distraction and opportunity. Well done!
The title screen design is fantastic. Unfortunately my monitor couldn't fit the whole game on screen, but it was still very fun. Well done.
Oh hey, I remember your LD29 entry: The Sun and Moon! I suppose it's no surprise this is so good, then. :D
This entry is bittersweet for me. We both had the "Metroidvania in one screen" idea, but dang if you didn't pull it off way better than I did, haha. It's one of those rare entries that I find it hard to quit playing until I finish it. Excellent work!
OH NO! A drunken fight put me in debt and I couldn't recover. ;_;
Neat, simple management sim. Could use some metal tunes, though!
I played the web version so I don't believe the audio was working. Really love the puzzle design. With some extra commands or just more levels this could be a real game.
Really tough, but I dig the design. If we're launching skyscrapers into space to push satellites towards aliens, why not just launch the skyscrapers at the aliens. O.o
I like this game. The kite implementation is fantastic and the visual design is adorable.
This game is hella rad. I'll admit, I have a soft spot for puzzle platformers, but this feels like a really good one. Incredible atmosphere, great pacing, and fun. Great work. :)
Really dug the gravity mechanics for the planets. The game's goal was a bit confusing, and I got a game over after collecting all the minions... which I thought was my goal. Still, great job. :)
Adorable graphics, reminds me of Earthbound mixed with Legend of Zelda. Enjoyed the humor and thought it was a good base for a full game. :)
I would ditch the diabetes jokes, though.
Neat concept, though the perspective makes it difficult to avoid rocks sometimes... and I felt like one time a rock hit me through a planet, but I may just be bad at the game.
Really cool game mechanics. Impressed by the effect of the snow coming off the ground and sticking to the snowman. Cool game. :)
