Nicely designed puzzles, but taking the player back to the beginning is just too unforgiving. It only tangentially relates to the theme and it just makes it frustrating.

Nicely designed puzzles, but taking the player back to the beginning is just too unforgiving. It only tangentially relates to the theme and it just makes it frustrating.
Really nicely done. Love the spear mechanics. Jump height/wall jumping is a bit odd, but other than that it plays very nicely.
I have no idea what just happened...but it sure looked pretty while it confused the crap out of me.
Great work on the theme song. Its really hard to tell how your explosions will spread or not, though, making the game kind of confusing to play.
Really enjoyed this. I like how you worked the virtual reality into the story rather than just using it as an excuse for simple graphics. At its core the game is just fun. Levels could use more variety and visuals/audio could be prettier, but for 48 hours this is awesome.
Gameplay-wise this isn't so engaging, but I found the concept and execution so absolutely hilarious that I played it five times.
Too easy for too long, but other than that this game is really fun. Good concept, good art, great soundtrack.
Really solid game. I had a lot of fun and it was quite humorous. Would be nice if I could see what level I was in the various skills (like you can with the equipment) just because I started to forget as I got further into the game. Good stuff.
Really gorgeous game, the breathing mechanic is a bit irritating, but overall fun with a cool application of theme.
Fantastic game. Really funny, great use of the theme. Actually managed to pass on my first play and then went back to play a few more times (couldn't find any other combos that work, maybe publish a list or video after the compo is over?)
Rules are kind of unclear in terms of what counts as satisfying a shape at the beginning. But its a pretty clever puzzle game. I enjoyed it once I figured out how it works.
One of my favorite LD games I've played so far. Great visuals, great comedic vibe, and fun gameplay. Difficulty could probably increase faster since it can get a bit dull once you get the hang of things, but overall great stuff.
Cool idea, like the use of theme to add variety to mazes. Like others have said mazes are pretty small and simple most of the time.
Really solid. Like the spin you took on the "one bullet" idea. Enemy behavior makes it kind of impossible not to take a lot of damage, but its still fun.
Really liked this. Hard, interesting use of theme, and overall well-made. Good stuff.
Nice game. Pretty fun to play. Like the semi-random enemy spawns. Very unforgiving but in a well-designed way.
Loved the sound design, and the minimalist graphics worked well. Really nice little puzzle game.
Hard as hell but I kept me coming back to try again. Music got irritating fast though.
Like other people have said its on the easy side, but its a nicely made, albeit simple, entry.
Like others have said, this has the makings of a great game. Heck, for being made in 48 hours, its already a really solid game. Some more mechanics and clearer explanation and I could see myself playing many many rounds.
Loved the visual style, but in terms of gameplay I never really understood what was going on. Almost too experimental; design could use some tweaking to ease the player in while still keeping the mystery and atmosphere. Cool idea though.
Really smooth animation. I'd definitely keep working on this now that the Dare is over; if you have ideas, keep going!
Really great spin on the Diner Dash time-management game type. One of the best uses of theme I've seen in the compo. Great work!
Really confusing. Hard to tell if I wasn't understanding things because of lack of instruction or due to menu issues. Some guidance would be nice because conceptually this looks cool.
I'll echo the sentiment that its unreasonably hard without checkpoints. Beyond that, its kind of bland. Technically sound though.
Horrifyingly well-told story. I love how you subvert the interactive fiction elements toward the end.
Love your use of theme and how it evolves over the course of the story. Game could use some polish but for 48 hours its really well done.
Good execution of a simple concept. Doesn't bring a lot new to the table but is a fun distraction. Audio is great too.
As an concept, I thought the perpetual-runner-jumper game had been exhausted. But all it took was Don One and is his beautiful spikey body to make it fun again.
Funny game. Not super engaging but its an interesting concept. Love the visuals too.
Really enjoyed this game. 3D top-down visuals were really well done, and the game is challenging in a rewarding way. Good stuff.
Couldn't move him either. Bug or missing instructions?
Yeah, the controls and physics make the game a little hard to play, but its a pretty good concept that could be improved with some polish and extra work.
I found the zoom on the scope made it really hard to get a better look at specific people. But a good execution on a good application of the theme overall.
Well this was silly in the best possible way. Application of theme is ridiculous and general visual style spices things up nicely. Gore gameplay is a bit bland but the details make it fun.
Love the ending! The gameplay could be more polished/refined--aiming toward the mouse rather than toward where the player character ends up facing would feel more natural to me. But a really solid piece of work!
Really great stuff! Love the bubble mechanics and the strong visual style. Physics could use work though; the jumping is very sticky and it can be hard to control overall. But a very good entry! Congrats
Option A for me. Solid stuff here; would be eager to play more!
Great art and a cool central mechanic. The physics made it hard to move through the level for me. But good stuff!
I love this! Graphics are great, but the main thing is the gameplay is fun. Enemies could attack a little faster; might make things more chaotic and exciting, and overall its a bit short, but its great while it lasts!
Very silly; I got a real kick out of it! Short and not much to it, but I dug it.
Really interesting mechanic! Took a while to get a hang of, but it was really rewarding once I did; love setting the baddies up for a big hit and then swapping out with another guy. I think this could be expanded into a longer project
Pretty funny take on the theme! I agree about the difficulty; the mechanics of the falling shelves could maybe be cleared up a bit. But a good take on a good concept!
Nice game! The clues kind of hide the choice screen. But the random clues are fun and it has nice replayability.
Nice visuals, but I was more confused than intrigued by the story, and the choices seemed really odd. I never really had enough information about any of it.
The camera movement mechanics are really intriguing. I think if you return to this post-compo you might have a really unique stealth game on your hands!
Beautiful graphics! Absolutely stunning. The color spectrum is too large I think; maybe if there were fewer specific colors (i.e. one shade of black, one grey, etc.) it would be more manageable to play. But great stuff for 20 hours!
The burning hats made me laugh. Pretty simple, but does what it does well!
Really clever take on the theme! Possibly my favorite thing I've seen. Some visual polish would be nice, and it gets pretty difficult pretty fast, but that's kind of okay for an LD game, where everyone is playing in short bursts. Great work! I could see this being an even more complex typing-tutor.
Fun concept and nice visuals. I very rarely landed a hit on the enemy though, even when I was at the right distance. But an enjoyable game anyways.
Just as a heads up, I do believe sites like freesound.org are not allowed for the compo, but I might be wrong.
If the game was longer and harder, this could be pretty fun. I'm curious to see what Abe is like, but I too could never get enough money without winning to find out.
Too easy and too short, but the rotoscoping is a nice touch!
You have to hit the zombies from behind in order to heal them. Sorry if that was unclear. I might add an additional tutorial message to the game if that's confusing to people.
Thank you for all of the wonderful feedback! I've put together a quick post-compo revision to the physics that should make things feel a bit less slippery. If you feel like revisiting it, let me know what you think!
Really clever game! Nice execution and great interpretation of the theme. Would love to see a multiplayer mode in the future.
Nice take on the theme; the weapon physics were pretty sweet. Hitboxes seemed inconsistent, but overall solid stuff.
Very nice stuff! Great use of theme. Had a very Nintendo-y vibe to it with the visuals and music. I agree that the death mechanic was a bit too punishing; maybe let the player keep the upgrades they've gained?
I'm not a big fan of cookie-clicker games, but that is one cute chicken.
Pretty easy to keep everyone happy, especially since they automatically come off break. Lovely visuals though!
Really dug the control scheme; very original. Nice variation on the endless runner genre. One of my favorites I've played so far!
Really solid game! Things get a lot more interesting once you get the cat and human working separately. Could use background music and animations, but nice stuff!
Cool concept! I found it a little hard to control and actually hit enemies though. Nice take on the theme though.
Solid stuff! Visuals could be a bit refined and some background music would be nice. But the difficulty escalates nicely and the scoring metric is cool!
Nice work! I like the spin on typing games; usually the aliens have a word associated with them, but I like how the weapon is loaded with the words (I disagree with other people about pressing space twice; I thought it was a good mechanic). I found the game too easy to be engaging for long; some more enemies and mechanics would be cool if you expand on this. Great job!
Controls are kind of touchy, but a solid entry nonetheless!
Can't say I really understood what was going on, but the idea of a "character assassination" is a clever use of the theme
Love the little audio chirps! But is there a point to making friends? I couldn't find a way NOT to make friends, and never really got hurt. My friends also tended to block my path. But a nice game overall.
Nice work! I was very impressed by the boss fight. Graphics and audio could use some work, but overall a fun, quick game!
I would've put this up for Graphics voting; I thought the visuals worked really well. Simplistic but fitting for the game. Jumping was nice to; just would be cool to have more levels.
Incredible visual style and an original gameplay mechanic. Super hard though; would've loved more time and maybe a few more button presses. But really cool and worth expanding I think.
Nice stuff! Solid and fun. I'm not sure what the different block types do, but it was enjoyable even if it was short.
I really enjoyed this. Might've liked a charge meter for the toaster weapon, but other than that its very solid. Funny, good use of the theme, and functional.
One note, in your description you say R is reload. I hit it thinking I needed to reload the toaster. "Restart" might be a better descriptor :)
Nifty concept! Reminds me of AaAaAaA: A Reckless Disregard for Gravity. Even with elements missing, its pretty fun to play and a neat use of theme.
Interesting idea; found the controls a little too sluggish to play effectively, and the teachers' faces didn't seem to match whether or not they could see you. Fun use of the theme though. That girl is creepy!
Cool concept; definitely worth expanding on.
Great visuals! I found it hard to hit enemies from behind the ship; maybe some way to shoot forward also? But great work.
Controls are a bit too sluggish, but the concept is great! I could see this being a larger game with different unlockable abilities. Great stuff!
Nice work! I would've liked it to be a bit faster from the get-go, but its a pretty cool thing you've made here.
Hey, good stuff! Definitely worth expanding on I think.
Great work! I feel like the weapons were just kind of art swaps for more traditional weapons. But the graphics are great and the game is pretty impressive, even if the combat is a bit clunky.
Great stuff! The core mechanic is incredibly impressive. I might have liked controlling aiming with the mouse more, but still, really good work
Cool game! The number of weapons is impressive. I think with some more time to work on controls and visuals, it can be even better.
Nice work! Really fun core gameplay. Last level is hard as all hell. Stupid missiles...
Love the art! I've always wanted to get into 3D modelling. Simple, clean, and funny; great stuff!
Really interesting concept! I think its definitely worth expanding on. I got a little bored after playing for a while, but as complete game I think this could be really fascinating.
Really interesting ideal for a puzzle. Made me really think, and eventually I got stuck. Story wasn't particularly engaging for me, and I would reconsider the title; spelling mistakes =/= dyslexia
Funny concept and nice art style, would be interested in seeing a larger, more complex version.
Found a bug; if you're on the empty "weapon select" screen as it when it switches from one year to the next, returning to the map screen causes a lot of graphical glitches between what is and isn't being displayed.
Nice stuff! Really like the idea of managing research/building while also fending off enemies. I think the fighting enemies part could be improved though; they could be more threatening of a foe, and maybe not be so far away from the research. Great job!
Nice work! Very silly and enjoyable. Not a lot to it but it does what it sets out to do well.
Love the music! Very catchy and fitting. I didn't feel that the two-selves mechanic was super necessary, but its pretty impressive. Good stuff!
Great stuff! Love the spin on Snake. Its a game I actually want to keep playing and improve my score in.
Interesting mechanics, but too hard to control everything through text in my opinion. I kept getting shot right away.
I don't find toilet humor particularly funny, but to each their own. Gameplay is solid though, and the music is nice. I got an error when I clicked the "sound" button though.
Having to move my hand between the mouse and keyboard was annoying, but the typing mechanic is pretty cool; it would be nice to see it expanded to more than three types of words and open up a lot of cool gameplay in the future!
Nice work! The physics and visuals were really impressive. Gameplay got a little repetitive, but good stuff!
Voice acting was very amusing in gameplay. Core mechanic got a bit boring quickly, but its a very lovable game for its opening story and sense of humor.
Really really liked this game. Great length, great ending; best "mood" of any game I've played so far. I wasn't super into the needle mechanic, but the difficulty did ramp up in a pretty cool way toward the end there. Great work!
Nice runner game; the lanes are a bit too close together in my opinion, so its hard to tell which lane obstacles are in, but solid stuff!
Nice runner game; the lanes are a bit too close together in my opinion, so its hard to tell which lane obstacles are in, but solid stuff! The layers to the visuals are slick.
This is awesome! Love the build of power and the increasing chaos of the bullets and enemies. Clever use of theme too.
Only real complaint is the SFX. Super grating when so many enemies are dying at once.
I'm a big fan of hidden object games and dig the style and ambiance of the version you made for the compo; sad it was so short but excited to see more of it!
Best use of shapeshifting I've seen so far; really great work! I would definitely keep working on it!
@brinkhousegames there is a zip up on the Drive; does it not work?
@codecast couldn't repro your issue; did anything in particular cause it to stop working?
Love the visual design. Very interesting gameplay, but I agree with others that it was hard to get the hang of because of how quickly the difficulty ramped up. I could see it working well with a story and multiple levels if expanded!
Great stuff! Very hard for someone with no rhythm like me, but I guess that should be expected! The game has a great sense of humor to it. Some more detailed instructions would've been nice though. Congrats on your first compo!
Oh my god I love this. I was about to comment that there's a bug but NO YOU JUST TRICKED ME. Those wrong-colored shapes...
Really really great stuff. Great use of theme, simple art but it works nicely. Only thought is it might benefit from a taller screen, more Tetris-like instead of square. Super super impressive; one of my faves so far.
Like sol_hsa, I was pretty confused as to what was going on. Drawing the paths felt very unresponsive. The plane pathing and circling was very impressive though; with more clarity and polish this could be a fun idea!
Really creative concept, but aiming blindly at the turrets is almost impossible; I think it would be nice to have the walls be transparent, so you can see how close you are and adjust accordingly, at least on the early levels.
Nice stuff! Took a little getting used to, but really well made. Not hugely original, but the striped lasers were a nice touch!
I really enjoyed this. A very cool platformer; I could definitely see this being expanded! Love the artwork on the slime. Controls and physics are a bit rough, especially when it comes to jumping and dashing off walls, but great work!
Love the visuals! Its fun to watch your blob grow. Balancing definitely needs work, but I would love to see more of this concept! Very cool take on the theme.
Really well made game. Works very well as a match-3 while also having enough unique about it to recommend it. I dug the voice overs also; gave it a nice bit of personality.
One of the most original games I've played! A concept that I have never seen before; definitely worth expanding on I think. Only real critique is it would've been nice to move a bit faster for when enemies are all the way on the other side of the map.
Really nice idea! I found it very hard to properly time moving the turrets, but the concept is really clever! would love to see more of it
Really nice concept, and congrats on finishing! The puzzle-esque gameplay is very fun. There's some kind of bug or inconsistency with movement, though; I sometimes wouldn't move, or moved diagonally, or behaved in some other wonky way that caused me to take damage.
This is really impressive! I would love to see this expanded; its a great idea. Would make a great multiplayer app.
Also, adding instructions to your description might be a good idea; I was unsure of what was going on at first.
I love this. Reminds me of the old Alpha Team lego game. Although they're simple, the graphics look super nice. The puzzles aren't too hard and could probably benefit from more mechanics (and a fast-complete option) if you decide to expand on this, but awesome entry!
This is great! Really creative use of theme, difficulty escalates nicely, and its polish and fun! I really dig this.
Really ambitious stuff, and well executed! I dig the art style; simple but still has plenty of character. One of the best 3D games I've played. Core gameplay is a bit simple but use of theme is great.
Really neat concept; I felt like it took too long to charge up the energy I needed to shapeshift. Rapid-fire switching between forms would've be sweet. But the gameplay is fun and the effects look awesome!
Is there supposed to only be one level? Nothing happened when I reached the flag; not sure if its a bug or not.
Love the art, did not understand the gameplay though. But a shapeshifting RPG is something I would love to see more of!
Really good stuff! Great visuals and solid gameplay. The shapeshifting was super cool but felt a little underutilized; I found it was usually better just to run around shooting. Agree that the intro was too long, but really impressive work!
Nicely done! Really creative idea. Some instructions would be nice to explain that enemies are spawning from the portals; I learned that the hard way. Not a ton of replay value but I like the different color schemes.
Best music in any game I've played so far. Gameplay was a little too easy maybe, but the aesthetic is absolutely fantastic.
Love the hand-drawn art style. The lighting system was a little irritating since it forced me to go slower than i wanted to. Could maybe use a few more mechanics to make it more involved than just solving a maze. But I loved the atmosphere overall. Great stuff!
Really liked this! Very impressed by how much you got done in 48 hours; graphics grabbed me from the title screen, and there are so many different interesting mechanics. Controls are a bit finnicky and I ran into a bug where I couldn't drop the block I was holding, but really good stuff!
Nice work! The game was really hard to understand initially, but very clever and creative. A bit more tutorial levels/information and this could be super challenging and fun!
Like the graphics and the visuals a lot. The game is damn near impossible though. The ability to switch directly to a color instead of having to cycle through each one twice would help.
Great visual style and nice choice of shape shifting mechanics! Congrats on your first ludum dare!
Love the visual style! Aiming was hard because of the perspective; a crosshair might have been nice. Congrats on your first LD!
