LD28 — You Only Get One

Extreme Curling by Enneract 2013-12-18T08:35:00

Probably the sickest soundtrack of any LD game! Really kicks the curling up to the next level broomaneuver.

Lemmus Lemmus by Zerot 2013-12-18T09:09:00

Gotta love Lemmings! Good use of the theme, too! With a few more levels and abilities you'd have a nice complete puzzler

blomster by Ditto 2013-12-18T09:46:00

This game is one of the most impressive I've seen so far. I want to play more but I have to go to sleep.
The light as a puzzle mechanic is not only technically impressive but visually fantastic.

(Also woo hoo for a fellow SFML crazy person! Mine wasn't nearly as impressive, but I've also not done C++ for 2+ years :P)\

UniSwarm by ChaseC 2013-12-17T04:18:00

Nice use of minimalism.
It's a little unclear what's happening behind the scenes (why numbers go up or down) but overall a very smooth game. Nice use of swarming.

Don't Deploy Your Chute by Zambini 2013-12-18T23:04:00

@joserodolfofreitas That dll is the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012. You don't need VS installed, just the redistributable
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679

I think you might get tagged with this? I'm not sure how the comment system works. I'll also try to message this somehow.

Someone's F***ing Hitler by biscuitdough 2013-12-17T07:05:00

Great soundtrack. It's nice to see someone focus on narrative over beard hairs. Even though I noticed my beard hairs in the mirror.... Enjoyable dialogue.

Fighter's last hope by murilo 2013-12-18T08:46:00

It was very satisfying to land a jump sword strike on a foe. Very nice feel to the game with the animations and sound.

The main bgm didn't work for me, but I played with Icarus (from the Deus Ex: Human Revolution soundtrack) and it was very intense.

Excellent work!

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Into The Shadows by Dans17 2014-08-26T06:18:00

I wasn't quite sure what to do once the shadows appeared. It seemed like my flashlight didn't really do much.

A fun exploration though. I liked the shadow mechanic.

The mood though was great. Felt really creepy the whole time.

The Forgotten Day by Kuupu 2014-08-26T06:12:00

This was very enjoyable! I could see this playing very well on mobile with the mouse controls.

I enjoyed the fast paced nature of the gameplay and the well put together art assets. Sometimes the audio was a bit overwhelming/jarring and I'm not sure how it fits in the theme, but overall great work!

Outer Threat by ypr 2014-09-03T16:37:00

A great resource game. Very well designed. My one gripe is I felt like I needed to be able to do more than just connect the planets, even if it was a simple timed action i could do, like a bomb that I could deploy once every 500 ship kills or something.

Overall, though, very fun! Great pew effect :)

Burger Beat by TrickFishPie 2014-09-03T16:27:00

This game is fantastic! The music works, and it's just the right amount of 'Insanely hard' to make me keep wanting to try over and over again.

My one comment for improvement is to make the QTE for jumping much clearer to the user, it's too easy to accidentally do it.

Space Road Truckers by Zambini 2014-08-26T20:01:00

@LostTrainDude - For the jam, they're just set up in the scene. I wanted to write debris field generation but that's way outside the scope of LD48 :P

Space Road Truckers by Zambini 2014-09-08T17:55:00

@FrankieSmileShow : I implemented enemies and drones (you can see them in the code) as well as combat but it wasn't 100% so I stripped them out at the last second.

I'd like to make this into a real game, I'm actually doing some design work now to get it into a solid design pre-implementation :P

Alternation by PowerSpark 2014-08-25T04:39:00

This was very enjoyable! I'm a big fan of the dual world/platform-y nature. My only improvement could be to make it a 3rd person instead of 1st person so I could get past the 4th level :P

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Galaxia by greysphere 2014-12-15T09:24:00

Incremental games are great! You did a good job on this one (yay space!)

My one piece of feedback is it's hard to know what does what initially. Some stats/mouse-overs would be great for this style of game

0033 (sp00ked scr33n) by sportsquid 2014-12-15T09:04:00

Not bad for your second LD! Keep up with LD and you'll continue to improve! (web playable games are always a plus).

Orion by feiss 2014-12-10T22:23:00

This is by far some of the best set of visual and audio production I've seen.

As far as gameplay goes, however, I feel like there could be more to it.

Luckily this is Ludum Dare, and this is simply fantastic for a compo entry.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Grow by fullmontis 2015-08-25T08:05:00

Cool concept, I dig the super restrictive resources. The controls are a little strange though, I think if instead of clicking at various positions you used A,S,D or something, it would make it much more fluid.

This game is just begging for an eerie soundtrack! Cool art!

Barrel Roll Ultra! by Saf 2015-09-03T16:44:00

Very fun! Clever idea and well executed. The gameplay was pretty solid. The sound effects that weren't VO were very satisfying (especially the barrel hit!).

Overall excellent entry :)

(Also yay for web game!)

Definitely Human by Zambini 2015-08-27T16:45:00

@Kizler Thanks :) I ran out of time during the Jam, but I made it so adding new levels is (relatively) trivially simple :) I documented it in the README if you're interested in taking a shot, but I could always post more.

Definitely Human by Zambini 2015-09-04T18:05:00

@kidando - There's something weird with the Tweening library I used. It *might* hang for 10-15 seconds. Did you experience that issue? I can't seem to identify why that happens.

Swarm Lord by Ptolo 2015-08-26T16:22:00

Nice! RTS for a game jam is ambitious :)

It's hard, and I didn't initially fully understand what generated resource.

Cool background score! It is very mellow and relaxing and a nice contrast to the gameplay :D

Forest Monster by Geckoo1337 2015-08-25T08:02:00

Nice easy to pick up gameplay. The bombs add a nice challenge, especially because you travel to your click instead of instantly teleporting there.

The song is pretty great as well :D

Megaworm by micdoodle8 2015-08-27T06:06:00

This game is so good! It took me a second to understand what was going on, but once I got the hang of it it was great! It is just like being one of those Eaters from Terraria! Really solid work on the momentum aspect. Your score is very fun and upbeat, and loops very well :D

Those rocket guys are jerks though!

Beats of Nightmare by Insality 2015-08-31T17:32:00

Fun runner! Great art (both audio and visual). Not sure what it has to do with the theme but great work overall :D

Munk by MrTroy 2015-08-27T23:24:00

Fun game! The controls could use a bit more polish (maybe adding different kinds of attacks or giving a swing-cone?).

Nice voxels! Simple yet fun

Wolfsbane by WolvesbaneTeam 2015-08-27T16:43:00

Fun idea, great use of physics (pushing ghosts and werewolves around with tables is fun). I like the dark atmosphere too, it adds a nice horror/spooky element to the mix.

There could be more feedback on what happens during combat though, there seems to be something missing there.

All in all, good work :)

LD37 — One room

Nuclear Arms 3: Atomic Reckoning by Logicon 2016-12-12T23:27:00

A bit of character in this first person hidden object game. Well done folks :)

Last in Time by lonesurvivor 2016-12-12T23:42:00

Very moody, and good choice of colors. I like it. I couldn't figure out what to do after finding the items on the main piece of land, trying to combine items, reading the journal entries, using items on some other things.

Hikikomori by WarmLemon 2016-12-26T08:37:00

Video game as a blog entry - I like it :) The metaphors are strong with this one

The Bloodbath by Aster0id2000 2016-12-20T07:32:00

Fun game!
The edges of the map are a little jarring to run up against, but otherwise the controls were pretty tight! Great work

Come On Up by Gumboot 2016-12-15T09:28:00

This is quite impressive! Excellent work! I like how well you combined several mechanics into a cohesive gameplay. Took me a while to figure out how to defeat the brother (Guess it's been a while since playing Zelda).

Let them in by Wildebeest Studio 2016-12-26T08:46:00

Amazing jam! The graphics were super fun :) The interpretation of the theme was killer. My biggest challenge was that while the name of the game made it clear what I was supposed to do, but I couldn't tell until I intentionally started doing nothing which was the success state and which was the fail state. I still really got into the rhythm game aspect, though. Well done

Pimp My Room by Stylo21 2016-12-20T07:39:00

Very fun! Loved the music and the audio. As a stats nerd I would like to see what all my clicky upgrades were producing so I could min/max xD

Conștiență by Uliana Galich 2016-12-15T09:33:00

Amazing atmosphere. I suspected something wasn't going to turn out happy in the end by the way some of those descriptions felt. Great job driving the narrative through interaction. I played it without reading your description so it was extra intriguing!

Down The Rabbit Hole by Ariake81 2016-12-15T09:40:00

Very well done. I could see given more time outside of a jam this could be something spectacular. Your style was unique and worked quite well.

Void Inc. by Erkberg 2016-12-26T05:08:00

I like the tower defense/RTS combo idea. I like the idea of a clicker progressing to harder and harder challenges. The last boss I couldn't beat without spoilers, and tried using timing/strategy to beat him. I think focusing this game more on tactics using indirect control (ala PvZ) could work well, and figuring out some money sink or way to make sitting there and mining resources not as useful (making it more RTS influenced).

Legacy by rojo 2016-12-26T08:25:00

Great entry! I love dungeon master and Legend of Grimrock, so right up my alley. The controls were slightly stiff and the puzzles were pretty end-gamey, so I didn't finish it. The mystery and mood is great though, and I'd come back and finish it if I could move faster/strafe. Some ambient sounds would also be killer.

Legacy by rojo 2016-12-26T08:38:00

Oh, and the Mac build is working just fine :)

4/4 Room by Remicy 2016-12-26T05:38:00

Fun game!

4/4 Room by Remicy 2016-12-26T05:38:00

Fun game! The card mechanic is pretty cool

Toxic Waste by The Vall 2016-12-26T07:51:00

Could not beat it with at trackpad at all. Maybe it plays better with a mouse?

ConQuest by bentglasstube 2016-12-20T07:47:00

Fantastic work! You killed it with this theme and I'm a huge fan of the minigames (even though I lost all of them!)

I don't know if crashing when you're fired is intended but it's hilarious either way!

Giiver's Hop by MrTroy 2016-12-15T09:45:00

Great work. I half expected to die when I ran over my own floor tile but after I learned that wasn't the case it was less crazy.

Overall you did great work! Your animations were smooth and cohesive.

I ran into the "stuck controls" feel that some other people mentioned but for the most part it was nicely polished.

Alter Void by fafastudio 2016-12-21T06:53:00

Tons of fun! Love this mechanic. I'm not great at puzzle games but I still really enjoyed this one!

RDFS by Picking a username is hard 2016-12-26T08:01:00

Was fun to play :) I liked the character graphics and the humorous sounds. It was cool to see a leaderboard, too!

Sign by VersatileBox 2016-12-13T07:11:00

Solid execution. I felt uneasy the whole time (in a good way).
Took me a bit to get it but once I did I felt like the progression was solid.

FIIL Mark 37 by martincohen 2016-12-15T09:19:00

Amazing entry! Gorgeous art and the background audio really enhances the mood of the game.

(Windows 10)

This Room is Mine by Ristoretto 2016-12-26T07:16:00

Fun mechanic. I think the gameplay doesn't match the description, but kind of turned into its own cool thing. I think the balancing of the game is a bit off, but then whose isn't in LD :) An interesting game in this direction is called "Duskers" - might want to check that out. I think you have some different ideas in your game, with base building, etc.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

ARCADE OVERFLOW by Remco 2017-12-27T22:28:12Z

Awesome execution of the theme, fantastic art as well!

Trapping Circles by Rialgar 2017-12-27T22:56:49Z

Great game! I was a little bummed when I couldn't cut off one of them from the other and instantly kill one! but besides that great execution on the theme :)

The Dark Castle by Joror 2017-12-09T22:30:57Z

Classic narrative based gameplay! Love it! Great work!

Takomakase by Zambini 2017-12-09T21:21:20Z

Oh no @adrien-dittrick ! I had planned for full re-mapping support but ran out of time :(

(if you want to be super sneaky, you can edit dist/js/keys.js and dist/js/zone.js to re-map to AZERTY ;) It's "mostly" data-driven, so if those two align it *should* work™.....)

Tourist Chaos by MestreRothLD 2017-12-09T21:51:31Z

This is great! I love this application of the theme and the "pop pop pop" sound is very satisfying once you get a good amount going :D Even though I'm pretty bad at spatial puzzles I loved this game :) (It would make a fantastic mobile game hint hint nudge nudge)

Close Friends by skippuku 2017-12-09T22:06:52Z

Your art and audio are awesome! Gameplay could use a few more mechanics for my blood but as far as the theme is concerned this was spot on. Excellent submission :D

RQ5: backup-dancer rampage! by Adrien Dittrick 2017-12-09T21:31:04Z

Fantastic puzzle(?) game! A very solid application of the theme :D Great dancers too! 💃🕺

Wrath of the Crickets vs Brigham Young by Wesxdz 2017-12-09T21:43:08Z

Very fun! I like that at certain points it almost becomes a chicken shooter. The controls take a little time to get used to but I *definitely* didn't accidentally set fire to an entire field of wheat...... :)

Also, a networked SFML game in a game jam, that takes skill :)

Friends and Monsters by Killnaprimer 2017-12-13T07:47:02Z

Very nice work! It was a bit difficult to control but overall a terrific adaptation of the theme. Cute graphics as well! This game could use a plucky high octane soundtrack! :)

Herding Cats on Rollerskates by Tezza48 2017-12-09T21:25:54Z

This is exactly as difficult as I'd expect! Clever application of the theme :) It's quite a challenge on desktop with a mouse xD Well done!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Super Fun Action Chess by seano 2018-04-23T06:39:32Z

Fantastic art :) Definitely two incompatible game modes. This feels like it'd be amazing on a touch/multitouch device.

A Colorful Adventure by tiffi 2018-05-15T07:13:44Z

Great idea! One thing I'd alter is giving the player full vision on their entire move set. Otherwise you wind up spending a lot of time using one of your moves waiting.

Really like the atmosphere and art style. That cat is ferocious!

Goose Typing Attack by ehtd 2018-05-13T06:31:04Z

Honk honk!

Fun application of the theme :) Great artwork too, both visually and audibly

A Rind in Time by Plasmonic 2018-05-14T06:04:42Z

Interesting concept! A bit hard to start but some small tweaks could resolve that. Fantastic humorous music!

Lunar Lander Lunacy by JoshyOshKenoshi 2018-05-13T07:11:45Z

Fun application of the theme. It seemed like rate at which your thrusters burned wasn't able to compete with the acceleration of gravity, so if I didn't just mash answers hoping for the right one I would wind up hitting the surface at >50m/s or more.

Besides the balance issue, this was great! Loved your super retro style :D

Rhythm-Based Twin Stick Zombie Survival Shooter by Niker107 2018-05-13T06:45:19Z

Like others have mentioned this is reminiscent of Crypt of the Necrodancer. I liked playing this quite a bit :) I like the added layer of hand/hand coordination to time shooting and moving at the same time.

If you had added a couple levels/objectives or a scaling difficulty I think you'd have a very solid complete experience :) As it is I wound up getting god-mode after the shotgun.

Overall great work! :D

Hoop Tactics by MonstermanMFR 2018-04-30T06:23:40Z

Great mashup! If you tuned a few knobs this could be a super interesting strategy combat tactics style game :)

Rhythm Sea Restaurant by parkinje 2018-05-13T06:35:15Z

I could see this expanded to a DDR style (with WASD) and various different aspects being tweaked even further to make a super crazy fun rhythmic fishing game. Great work and a very nice idea :)

Space Faze by Pond Loach 2018-05-13T06:55:41Z

I can't believe you managed to make a fun math game for LDJAM :) Great work!

On Thin Line by Lotus 2018-05-13T06:49:24Z

Unfortunate about the controller requirement, but thanks for providing a video so we could still experience your game!

Great audio! I really like the style you went with.

Platforming Knight by Jakupf 2018-05-13T07:01:22Z

Great application of the theme! It reminds me a bit of Zachtronics games, but instead of planning/constructing chains of actions you actually get to do it in "real time" (kinda, more turn based :P )

Nice work! One piece of feedback I'd suggest is making the menus a bit faster to navigate. Something like using 1234 instead of Arrow > Z > Arrow > Z might make it faster to blast through the flats and really would add a sort of "I feel like I'm really good at the game!" feeling once you got the patterns down pat :D
