Exactly what I thought it would be; this was pretty dang fun!

nice approach, maybe it needs a little bit of feedback between turns, buts overall its nice. good job
It took a while for me to figure out how to play, but it works. Nice concept, but it does get a bit boring after a while. That might just be the nature of turn based though. The pixel art is charming.
very nice game! I watched the progress since your first post, and I like the result very much! Graphics are perfect, but the music is a little bit annoying  Overall very good!
Very fun game! The AI works really well and I liked the difficulty level. It required strategy and planning, but was still accessible and easy to pick up and play. I won 12 to 4.
Thanks for the feedback. The AI is pretty basic and needs a great deal of work, but my goal was to get a game done for Ludum Dare and I think I succeeded. If I were to continue this project I see a great deal of potential if it were a fully fleshed out game.
Nice game! It's similar to my idea in many ways so I was very impressed that you managed to get a satisfying AI done for it. The animations and characters are great too. Though I understand that the control system faithfully references old tactical RPGs (and hence fits the theme perfectly), I would actually love to see you add a mouse control option too.
Nice and solid effort. I think the grid should be actually more dense, and AI needs some work, also would be good to hide options that are not available so user don't get confused. Quite a good time killer.
This is cool as hell! Good job, dude!
Really great idea to have turn based basketball. I think the AI needs to be a developed more and the drop down should go away if you can't do anything instead of having to press exit ever time. If you expand upon the game I think multiplayer would be cool. I liked the way the grid worked. I like the pixel art and the music. Good job.
that was great! enjoyed playing, cool concept. all about stealing from that ai. have some cool breakaways off rebounds too. fun to set plays up with the turn based concept
I really liked this! I like games such as Advance Wars or the old Shining Force games, so this appealed to me.
I won 12-0 because I am a master Basketball player and the AI did not want to shoot much even if I stopped guarding them. I think if you made a full version you would need to add some sort of additional mechanics and stats for blocking, guarding, stealing, and the like. :)
Felt a bit tedious moving around looking for players that hadn't gone yet. Cool mashup, big ups for that.
Great mashup! If you tuned a few knobs this could be a super interesting strategy combat tactics style game :)
Nice take on the theme! Some kind of tutorial would have been nice, as the controls are not the best.
Congratulations with your first submission and really nice take on the theme!
Cool that you have finished and working base product.
If you decide to continue with the game after LD, all you have to do is adding some more options to the ingame menu and some more baseball mechanics, like guarding, intercepting a ball if there is enemy player on the balls pass (raycast) and so on...
Also having individual stats for the players and some training room and/or shop to buy upgrades for the team (say, better chance for stealing the ball, or better chance for shooting, or extra rush movement tile once per game... you name it)... as well as some sort of championship to earn some points/cash to spent in the above shop/training room - would be nice!
Another nice addition, after all we have turn-based tactics game, would bee showing in game chances to the player: say, I have selected my payer with the ball and wanna make a pass, so I'd like to see chances of successful pass above other teammates, so I can have a pseudo-filling of having control over the situation and wise decision-making.
Also enemy AI needs to have some reworking (I have won 12:4) and it was not that challenging.
Anyway it was fun playing your game. It could be made into something big!
Great entry! It was really fun to play :) Game feels almost complete - few things lacking but it don't stop you from enjoying the game :)
Constructive criticism below: - Music little bit repetitive (not anoying but certainly too short) - Impossible actions should be grayed out (if you cannot move any more - Move should not be visible or grayed out) - Should have some kind of "action point" counter - so you know what you can do in your turn - AI movement should be more 'visual' - now you can barely see what it did - End Turn button would be nice - should end all other players turns - Players with move should be shown somehow (outline?) or players without move - grayed out - Chances for pass or shoot should be shown - it give you more immersive experience and would greatly improve your ability to do "tactics" - now it's kinda pure luck for me :)

Cheers!
Nice game! It took me quite a while to get how to play, at first I was very slow, but finally I could begin scoring and it was fun. I agree with @Bartosz on his points of improvement. I was a bit confused about what I could or couldn't do at first. Graphical informations would be great.
Anyway this is a good game and I enjoyed it! You can test mine if you want here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/education-to-survive
Please accept this as feedback from someone who has never played Final Fantasy Tactics, Fire Emblem or Disgaea (I think Disgaea is relevant here?) - I still had fun: I still enjoyed the mechanics, the pixel art and music. I thought the AI was a bit challenging but judging from the above comments maybe I took longer to figure out the mechanics? The above comments biased me and now I also think some kind of "%" chance indicator like (% chance to crit... er... steal/shoot) would be nice. Overall, even without the background in these kinds of game, I thoroughly enjoyed it - would love to see a 2 player mode!
At first I liked the song, but I suggest that it increase the loop of the song a bit so it does not get too repetitive, as it may take away the player's attention a little.
I really liked the mechanics.
I would like it to have a clearer mark (at least for me) of who belongs to my team (maybe I have a hard time separating people visually).
The presence of small marker icons to know who has already done what would be welcome (especially if it was enabled by a button to not be polluting the screen if the person is a bit better memory and such). Example: pressing the "X" button will mark the icons of who can still move etc, for five seconds. Or while holding the "X".
In some games there are tips on how many percent chance to hit certain actions, this can make the person want or not risk doing some actions (this would depend on greater knowledge of the game itself, to know what can be difficult or not; and it would also depend on having different abilities for different characters).
I liked the graphics too. :)
Pretty fun and well working game. If I would change something it would be to give better feedback to the player. Good job.
Cool concept and I dig the old school FM music. I like the idea of the gameplay though in practice it's pretty slow, I think it would feel a lot better if you could use the mouse and had a quick hotkey to end a turn - it was pretty tedious to have to do a bunch of keyboard inputs to move and then end turn for every player. Still pretty fun though, would be cool to see this fleshed out more. Keep it up!
Thanks for all of the feedback! I do have a hotkey to end turns which is E listed in the write up of the game. Anyways, I do see a lot of good suggestions and will definitely work on some improvements to the game implementing those.
This was a lot of fun. I completely missed the hotkey to end all turns. As mentioned, the music gets a little annoying after a while. Other than that great game
This is great! The UI's a little rough (it's weird that you move across the whole grid to select players for turns but not for passing), but the basic mechanics are solid, and with a little juicing (animation and other feedback type stuff) I can definitely see sinking a bunch of time into it.
I was totally gripped - and me a non-footie fan as well! I won 12-2 (but it took me ages... ) Thanks for the fun!
