Robby & Coppy by Imphenzia 2017-12-05T22:14:25Z

Great and fun game. Did you made music yourself here as well? Because i rated you in music - if so - great job - music is absolutely amazing! Hited theme perfectly, gameplay is nice and polished. Great job!

You can check out my game here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/voxel-mob-arena - thanks!

@imphenzia - that's very well spent 2h - i'm amazed with this tune :O What software do you used for this? Btw - i give you 5 in audio because there is no 6 ;)

Some Seriously Screwed Sheep by PixelFormedStudios 2017-12-08T15:26:39Z

It didn't load for me via HTML5 version at all - it get stuck on "Loading" animation.

Pixelart from screenshots looks amazing though and i'll do exception and will download win desktop version when i'll have oportunity for sure!

For now you can check out our **Voxel Mob Arena** here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/voxel-mob-arena

Super Mailman by 0xDD 2017-12-08T14:26:27Z

I played it a bit - feels nice apart from very 'floaty' jumping mechanics. Normally you should do some tricks with physics so player fall faster then he goes up - (like in mario) - then it feels more grounded.

Also i found cluttering my screen very annoying - i read description and i know why you did it this way - that's fine, but as designer you have to be really careful with hiding stuff or cluttering players view.

I enjoied idea and it fits theme well. I would opt-out from the 'mood' rating as this game is not moody at all - it is really fun though!

Boat&Friends by averagebrownie 2017-12-05T20:03:00Z

Loved physics and pixelart!! Props for graphics! Great job overall - could be little easier to actualy swim forward (i got stuck in the middle of ocean :P)

Spring on boxes should be little bit more tight like for me. Music very calming - i know it's not yours but great choice to this type of game :)

House Party by Richard141289 2017-12-08T18:31:02Z

Great entry, loved everything, although music is missing for me.

Why no web build? It's Unity?

Oopsy? :)

Btw - it didn't hit theme at all or am i missing something?

CalligraTree by Roaring Cat Games 2017-12-08T10:03:07Z

@roaring-cat-games That actually makes a lot of sence - didn't realize that - i'll change my rating in theme part then.

Again - outstanding job!

Parent Simulator by Arputikos 2017-12-08T19:50:54Z

I laughed so hard when i heard those children crying with low pitch voice i almost spit my screen XD

Really cool entry, nice graphics and what i really like about this game that you can tell that you did all of it yourself! Great job!

BLOK'D by AndrewJAdams 2017-12-05T17:47:18Z

I've got about 80 points. At start you might think that it's too easy, but you get corrected pretty fast :) Overall pretty nice idea, very simple and clean - but most importantly - it's a little bit addicting! I would add some sounds though. Great job!

Bert's Adventure by Xeinix 2017-12-07T23:46:38Z

This game is extrimely hard :) It's kinda fun but not all mouse presses or spacebar presses are registered which makes this game even harder!

Btw - it's unity - why no web build? And why no full screen option?

Procedurally generated world would be awesome here ;)

Story killed me though :D it was funny as hell :)

A Spark of Light by TurbulentWinds 2017-12-08T15:19:13Z

Mood is very good, but it's getting boring very quickly, as in fact you just move around with cube with light attached :D

Text get's blurred or out of focus with some light settings - you may want to check that as it is hard to read through 'tutorial' part

Nice entry though!

Drunken Soviet by Neferius 2017-12-07T23:59:03Z

Unfortunately unity player was causing me problems with 'sticky keys' - main character walks without me pressing anything :(

Why no web-build?

Drunken Soviet by Neferius 2017-12-08T10:07:07Z

@jadw1 - nah - it's Unity default input manager messing up - it happened from start without taking any vodka :)

Character walks forward and left without touching keyboard.

Idea is awesome though :)

Drunken Soviet by Neferius 2017-12-08T19:55:01Z

@jadw1 - i found out the issue - i had space-mouse (3d connection space mouse pro) drivers installed and unity was taking this as main input (sic!) - after removing those drivers all works great!

Drunken Soviet by Neferius 2017-12-08T20:02:14Z

Omg it's like in real life! If you drink too much vodka it causes you to drink more even if you know you shouldn't! Also there is always not enough cucumbers!

Nausia should go away with time maybe?

I love this game!

Starbage Man by BryceLTaylor 2017-12-07T23:21:53Z

I've experienced a lot of issues with steering the player. Everytime voice-acting started - inputs were stick and player walked on it's own, also i couldn't steer starship in 'black hole' view and when i got info that i should press 'space' to shoot pellets - spacebar didn't work for me at all...

I give it a second try with windows version (i figured that maybe it's webgl issue) but this was even worse :(

I had to admit that voice acting was a really good idea and it was really funny ;)

Psychoserker by Arya 2017-12-08T18:17:35Z

Great game and great fun! :) I loved cam shake when hitting guys - picking up weapon - very nice addition! Although i was little bit dissapointed when music stoped after a while and there were no enemies left :( Also you can go straight and get lost (and you are far from spawners - nothing is happening, and you don't know if you are moving or not.) Mouse could work without holding RMB - i had to hold it all the time! :) No exit button and no main menu is not best option for windows version.

I loved RPG part in it, although MMB for menu is not great idea :) - PPM would be waaay much better! It's a great and fun entry though - i really enjoy it!

BTW - how did it hit theme? I didn't get that...

Also - Mood - i give you some stars for that because it have a certain "rush" feeling" but why didn't you opt-out from 'humour' rating?

Voxel Mob Arena by Bartosz 2017-12-05T23:11:07Z

@imphenzia - thanks for feedback

To all of you guys - i just fixed jumping mechanics and it's solid now, will fix few more small bugs and update level design.

I hope to add multiplayer to this in comming weeks - it will be awesome :D

Voxel Mob Arena by Bartosz 2017-12-08T00:02:57Z

@bryceltaylor there supposed to be granade launcher, rocket launcher, minigun, and laser - we even had models ready but we had to cut it out due to time restrictions. We will be working on this game later, there is multiplayer involved in our plans and ability to complitely destroy every single bit of the level - with voxels ofc :)

Thanks for feedback!

Voxel Mob Arena by Bartosz 2017-12-08T17:43:17Z

@jfraser314 - lack of music was a strategic decision - we did "fun mechanics" as most important part of this entry, good quality assets, music and cool looking menu will come later.

And btw - **THERE WILL BE 4-8 players MULTIPLAYER** in ths game, and every piece of level made out of **VOXELS** so you will be able to **DESTROY EVERYTHING** :) Just read 'Future plans and updates' section up above

Voxel Mob Arena by Bartosz 2017-12-08T19:44:00Z

@arputikos Siema! :) Menu was done in last 20 minutes so we really sory for that - but game without "pause" option is a bad idea :) We will do some showcase with breaking level parts after weekend so be sure to follow us here! :)

Voxel Mob Arena by Bartosz 2017-12-08T20:11:30Z

@turbulentwinds - this has to be itch.io issues as we do not do anything 'fancy' there that could cause lag spikes... But thanks for the comment!

@elouan - could you be a little bit more specific?

DRAGLUTTONY by Reality Blind 2017-12-05T19:51:14Z

Great artstyle and music, you even get points in humour part :)

But few things was a bit awakward for me: - msi installer and no webplayer version - it's kinda hard to throw sth with this short stick :D - game didn't go fullscreen for me (there was edges of my desktop sticking out) - resolution 1920x1200 - no exit button and no GUI - this one is really bad!!

Overall it's really great and fun entry! :)

DRAGLUTTONY by Reality Blind 2017-12-05T20:04:45Z

@reality-blind what game engine did you use? It would be great if you had only exe file without installer :)

Cyber Instinct by CyberPunks 2017-12-05T19:29:15Z

On positive side: - Very polished graphics - Good quality sound - Cool story concept (although i don't like reading in games too much - those are not books :D) - Great mood and cyberpunk feeling

Negatives: - Graphics are little bit unclear and dark - but i guess adds to the mood though - Lacking good UI - slowing down indicator, health, energy points are rotating and are too easy to miss - main protagonist movement are too 'floaty' - you feel like you don't control it very well - making you too heavy makes it harder to get up a hill - so if you go out too late - you are screwed - You definitely should have opt-out from 'humour' category...

Overall nice and fun but design is lacking polish - graphics rocks though! Great job!

LD42 — Running out of space

No disk space by rayriver 2018-08-15T19:15:39Z

Nailed it 100%, Very well polished, simple but engaging concept - it was fun to play - congratulations!

Nooooo! by YANIV 2018-08-15T15:54:28Z

Great little game, some small bugs: - when oponent 'marks' edge of level - you cannot stop him - you cannot jump on diagonals :( - sometimes enemies don't clear whole strip but leave some tiles

What i really liked: - easy to understand concept - well designed keyboard input (except when i had to klick with mouse "Try again" - this should be done with "x" or "space") - well designed opponents when they stoped and wait a little bit to let you know that they will attack

I really enjoy it, and it is really addicting!

Space Goats 2 by Tim Ruswick 2018-08-16T08:51:18Z

Hey @tim-ruswick ! Really funny entry. I laughed a lot :) Game is great but design could have some polish to it - imho slowing down player feels like penalty and i makes game less enjoyable, graphics is not terrible but there could be at least some shading involved :)

I really appreciate that his was made for the compo! Hats off to you sir! ;)

Space Runner 2048 by RAFFE 2018-08-15T19:43:35Z

Darkest Shade Of Night by Bartosz 2018-08-15T00:05:19Z

Guys, we just squashed a tons of bugs and released Linux, MacOs and Web builds of the game. Those builds were not tested though so if you find some issues with those versions - please let us know!

Darkest Shade Of Night by Bartosz 2018-08-15T10:56:32Z

@shinysteel Coursor has additional functionality - you can place and take parts of path - those planks from ground! I't makes you to think a little bit about strategy, because monster worms are destroing those planks and your path as you play!

Darkest Shade Of Night by Bartosz 2018-08-15T14:41:52Z

@tomeks That was very funny comment indeed :)

Darkest Shade Of Night by Bartosz 2018-08-15T21:09:30Z

Loneliness by Saering 2018-08-15T15:39:27Z

Omg. I thought that someone is nocking to my window... on second floor!! Scarejumps got me a little bit, but unfortunately after taking elevator i experienced some weird graphical issues with white blobs blocking my view :( I was using desktop version.

Good entry, but as you mentioned - i don't feel theme here and there are too much chromatic abberation effect for me, but i enjoyed it in the end :)

Camp Snuggle by Scott Steffes 2018-08-30T02:52:51Z

Quite funny, well done, lot of polish but i didn't see how much of 'old people' were out of the fire ring, so it was suprise to me when i lost - maybe there should be some big in your face 'counter' with screen shake or something. I got 1200 points, record is 1400 so i'm proud of myself :)

Simple gameplay and graphics are great! Good job!

Lava Palava by Ben Scroggins 2018-08-28T20:17:13Z

Game would be so much better if you would just add: - shadow beneath player so you know where you will land! - instant turning by 90 degrees instead of turning fluently (hard to hit enemies) - Right mouse button to JUMP and left to fire!!!! Why would you mess this one up?! :D That so unconvinient to play :)

Overall great models, textures and lighting, kinda fun to play but very irritating at the same time :) You didn't make music but it fits chill platforming game perfectly :)

Good job like for 72h!

Zlinx by frontlinesaint 2018-08-15T11:40:14Z

Nice idea and great execution. Little hard but insta - restart gives you oportunity to try again and again and again.. so you immidietly forget about frustration that was building up whlie playing.

I really like simple form and no scope creep here, no UI was not an issue with this one :)

Over all i really liked it! Great job!

WearOut by Abhis1Kadian 2018-08-28T19:54:05Z

Not really following the rules... You kick with w and punch with space, but when you punch - you actually loose life... And what does counter named "space" do on the right? That's going down when they get off the screen?

Game as such is very repetitive and kinda boring after 60s of playing, although with few smart design decisions it can change dramaticaly i.e: - remove punch and add ability to jump - while you not kicking - your health goes up but 'space' goes down - randomize more enemies occurence

by doing that you give player an interesting choice - lose life or lose space and lose game?

Of course this is small change and change gameplay completely, and there is plenty of such changes that can improve your game here :)

Overall story was pretty nice and i really liked simplicity of your art and black & white color choice :)

Keep it up - next entry will for sure be better!

A Bar In Space by Fluffy_Kaeloky 2018-08-16T21:22:22Z

What a great and funny way to interpret theme :joy: I laughed really hard reading description :)

Game is well polished and i really enjoy it a lot!

I have nothing more to say - you pretty much nailed it!

PS. Great music choice as well :)

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

JOURNEY by Syrapt0r 2018-12-04T15:29:55Z

**Wow! What a great game - especialy for a COMPO! For me it's 5-star entry!**

I'm guessing you have some solid background in game dev - this shows!

Aesthetically pleasing, very well synced with music, solid movement mechanics, great level design, good dificulty progression.

**It feels like whole, nothing is lacking here!**

Great job!

One complaint would be - not really getting te 'story' part - why am i sacrificing those powers? What is this great blue cube that takes my powers away? And why once it took my power away but next time just 'teleported' me to other chapter?

sleep by drtizzle 2018-12-03T19:45:15Z

Trippy as hell :) Oddly satisfiyng to shoot those white ghosts in the head though :)

Few minor bugs here and there like some glithy buttons behaviour - nothing important or game breaking.

Awesome entry!

Ursa by Maksym 2018-12-04T09:18:06Z

**Stunning, beautiful, heart breaking!**

This should be my whole comment, although there is few issues: - double jump does not work from time to time and makes me go crazy! Please fix it and let me know - i'll try again. For now it's game breaking... - Wall jump is not well executed - you do walljump off of a wall on the left (so you push left arrow key) but it jumps right - feels awakward - cub is changing into a little cute star when walking from platform to platform (different hitboxes)

Apart from that - music is absolutely stunning, beautiful pixel art, and seems like heart-touching story - but this double jump though... Argh!

Overall i feel **frustrated** over this game - and **that's good thing**! I would **LOVE** to play it when it's fixed! For most games - if they are broken or not - i'm like

*"Oh, it didn't work - meh - whatever, NEEEXT!"*

But here? You **caught me by the balls** and i'm waiting for those bugfixes!!

**LET ME KNOW!!** :)

<3

PS. Where is the guy that created this music, i need to send him a love letter <3

PS2. Congrats for shipping this in time - tons of work here :)

**I WANT MOAR!** :)

You got me second time on board - and i was not dissapointed!

BTW - replay button on end screen doesn't work :)

PS. When full game will be available on steam? I demand deep heart-breaking story!

Entry for 43rd Ludum Dare by burnedkirby 2018-12-04T13:10:28Z

**Nice entry. Good theme usage.**

For me theme was obvious from start - first two jumps and i got that!

Solid basics - movement, jump etc - feels polished, although i think it lacks good level design - you could push this concept to another level.

Also i was feeling that square shrinks faster by the end - not sure if that's just me or it actually did shrink faster later in the game.

A little bit of frustration also hit me when i had to start all levels from beginning every mistake i made, and "RED FLOOR" didn't appear to me as "LAVA" immediately so i keep making this same mistakes over and over :)

Overall - although very simplistic graphics - great entry for 48h! Congrats!

Pirates may Cry by themarioga 2018-12-10T13:29:13Z

I played web version - nice idea although i had no sound whatsoever...

It's getting a little bit borring after a while because you just click buttons to make decisions, but nevertheless - it was nice to play it!

Volcano Royale XTREME by Morg 2018-12-04T11:08:44Z

It was fun to play although few bugs that i found below:

- laggy mouse when turning - enemies do not push you - just walks toward you - not all powerups are clear what they do (i have headphones but some text with powerup would be appreciated) - game got stuck on stage 3 and no enemies was spawned anymore - jumping feels stiff and unresponsive a little bit

Great entry overall and awesome idea - music is nice - kinda reminds me Q3 arena :)

Master Key by Jeremy Ryan 2018-12-03T18:56:17Z

Great idea and awesome execution. Although folder with game is named LD42 - is it really only 72h work?

Btw - i got stuck in this level: ld43-master-keypng.PNG

Is it just me being stupid or to solve this puzzle you need to actually pick up back all 3 moves, but there is no way to take power back - you can only swap them...

PS. Is music yours? I just got in love with it!

Master Key by Jeremy Ryan 2018-12-03T18:58:51Z

Never mind, i just used 'HINT' and got MIND BLOWNED! This game sir deserve 5 stars! <3

PS - it would be easier to not use mouse to make sacrafice - it distracts from the game flow.

@Maksym Thanks! I had a little bit of Papers Please in mind while implementing this, also - bombing away all civilians is greates feels very satisifing for some reason :D

I was aiming a bit for this "Syndicate" type of look and feel.

Cartel hunt! by Bartosz 2018-12-04T19:20:42Z

@drtizzle - agents go and interrogate civilians for you. If they find someone from the cartel - there is 50/50 chance to kill cartel guy or get killed. If it's boss - you win! Thanks for your feedback!

Cartel hunt! by Bartosz 2018-12-04T19:42:31Z

@maybelaterx Thankyou for your feedback! This mechanic of **"wait for detection and at the same time don't loose guy that you scanning"** was in my game design from the beginning - i think that's the biggest challenge. Wanted to leave player with decision on to how to win the game - i'm just giving meaningful tools - it's up to you how you use them to beat the game!

Cartel hunt! by Bartosz 2018-12-08T21:46:51Z

@mercilesscult you can kill all cartel members or just the boss - in both cases you win :) Congrats on catching him! ;)

Dazle Islands by Leandre Renouard 2018-12-04T16:03:48Z

Great game!

Some advice on fighting mechanic - your inputs should be very responsive - this means - super quick sword swing animation - here it takes too long to hit something.

Other than that - great music, well designed levels, although sometimes a little bit clunky - not enough space to escape monsters, and once i drop down under colliders - but game respawned me in proper place - and that's good!

Altruist Project by syverlauritz 2018-12-06T10:07:58Z

**Great idea and great execution!**

Feels really polished and well thought - although it's hard! I wasn't able to finish it, but i'll get back to it definitely!

PS. Loved ambient sounds and pixel art <3 PS2. To be honest - it doesn't look like made in 72h - if it was really creation of 4 ppl from start in 72h - CHAPEAU BAS!

Cross the Hell by Oxygenium 2018-12-06T09:36:51Z

**Great idea, great execution, but gamedesign needs some work here**

I know it's part of the challenge, but you should consider: - make player movement feel more 'alive' - now he walks too slowly - feels like he is drowning in glue... - overworld and underworld colliders should have effect always - this way you don't have this feeling of "platform is there but it vanished - this leads to frustration" - circle of showing underworld is expanding/shrinking too slowly - it should be almost instant - game should make players remember where things are (platforms) but let them to jump on invisible platforms as well - moving platforms should carry you with them.

Apart from those points game is great but story is kinda boring :)

Great entry overall!

Into the Catacomb by JesusAcHe 2018-12-04T21:18:36Z

Hi! Cool little platformer, nice graphics and nice jetpack mechanic instead of ordinary old and boring jump.

Movement feels polished and well done.

Issues: - you know that fuel is now useless because you can just 'tap space' and fly without restrictions? - i had no idea that you can shoot in this game on 'c' or you can access menu on ESC button - make it more obvious... - i can take off helmet - does this give me anything apart from just 'not healing' me? Why should i bother to take it off? - inverted spikes makes no damage... - there are some horizontal metal bar that i cannot shoot or move through so i'm stuck in 1st level... - i was able to pickup some coins twice (they reapeared) - i have just helmet in menu - there is nothing more to pick-up (did i miss something?) - i cannot leave anything else from menu than my helmet - where is theme? I know i can take of helmet - but where is sacrifice? - what is yellow square for? Is it checkpoint? It's not obvious... - even though i leave helmet - still cannot go through narrow gap...

Overall really nice entry but it let me a little bit confused...

Into the Catacomb by JesusAcHe 2018-12-04T21:18:36Z

*duplicate comnment - cannot remove it - sorry :) *

Into the Catacomb by JesusAcHe 2018-12-04T22:31:06Z

I @jesusache - i got that you need to crawl into those tight gaps, although i couldn't do it! Only thing i could take off was helmet and even without it i could not fit the gap so i was stuck...

In other words - i was unable to unequip jetpack for some reason...

OMDB - Over My Dead Body by ArturMaciag 2018-12-04T08:52:56Z

Nice execution, alhough i have few ideas to make it better: - make more precise hitboxes - sometimes 'space' doesn't work and you cannot sacrafice - controls feel too floaty - you are steering it with physics so add more drag to rigidbody - it would be nice if you save score - how many sacrifices you had to make to finish level (kinda like in meatboy) - you cannot jump on skew surfaces - probably detecting if isOnGround isn't registering sew surfaces - level design is off - you should use more idea that you can sacrifice yourself - there is no quit button so you have to ALT+F4 yourself from the game...

Overall great entry like for your first jam, and it was actually fun to play - i wonder how good/bad it would feel on mobile - game is designed for mobile although there is no mobile build!

Alain's Sacrifice by Daniel_Abeleira 2018-12-03T14:38:48Z

Great game, well thought. I like atmosphere. There was one glitch at end of first level - i was unable to "sacrifice" my life, was jumping on space... After a while it worked...

Music is kinda strange, but it does not get in the way so it's fine.

PS. Guy with sword, guy with shield and... guy with machinegun? Looks little bit off but doesn't bother me too much :)

PS2. Awesome flames animation!

ANKH by morriss 2018-12-04T21:58:45Z

**Loved artstyle - very clean and polished pixel art**

Although i had hard time playing it - D key moved me ALWAYS 1s to the left and later to the right - not sure why...

- lack of music was really apparent with such stunning pixel art - sound of game-win was too crude and harsh for me - great idea, you could spend little bit more time on gamedesign instead making 10 mediocre levels you could make 3 really polished ones! - that's a good advice for next jam!

Overall it was pretty fun, although i missed a bit in lvl5 when you suppose to kill yourself and throw a rock to activate ANKH - i used this stone to kill snake instead XD

Broken people by WTMK_BK 2018-12-04T20:44:04Z

I didn't fully understand what does clicking over those boxes do. Was it suppose to 'win argument' - and i'm about to decide who will win it and decide who should be harmed?

Not really get also what are winning / loosing conditions - seems like playing chess by myself - does it mater if whites wins or black wins?

Anyway - great that you was able to submit game in time - work on your skills, but definitely - tackle game design more than anything else - we are here for feedback so you can learn! :)

Sacrificed Dimension by Vatigo 2018-12-03T13:05:52Z

Nice concept. Reminds me heavly FEZ :) Almost no bugs - iglitched once on moving platforms and fall down, although platform later pushed me back to islands (i was floating then and could move freely over the world :D)

Feels polished, music is chilling although it is lacking some menu - you are unable to quit game after you beat last level...

God n' food by Caspercaper17 2018-12-04T21:35:12Z

I had hard time playing it - UI is not well designed for different resolutions - i had to open it in window mode to be able to see buttons - hitting them was also kinda hard... There is also "Button" text floating around twice.

I get the idea of the game - it's just not really engaging that much, and i'll tell you why:

- instead of use of keyboard - make buttons - make your game ability to give feedback - if you press something - it glows, if you loose - it tells you, this is how you build immersion - crude graphics is not an issue - work on polishing your design, game feedback and make player to do interesting choices - right now i was smacking all the buttons 5s into the game just because i could and it didn't matter in the end... :)

Hope it wasn't too harsh but you can learn (and you probably already did!) a lot from feedback given here!

Good luck and keep jaming!

Break a leg by AxelOlivier 2018-12-04T10:59:31Z

Cool idea, love graphics! Kinda hard to aim though and it's not obvious that golden robots fixes you (and it seems that they not always will? Didn't get fully this part...)

Great job!

Love is Sacrifice by Pawel W. 2018-12-04T19:37:22Z

**Great idea and pretty good execution.** **Also loved story and the artstyle!**

Some ways to make it even better: - change font to something more readable - add sounds and some touchy music - this would kick up the experience sky-high! - let people skip dialogues faster - i was waiting ages for them to fade out! - let player move while displaying dialogues - or - as above - just let them finish dialogue faster

I would love to see something more being done with this game - if you decide to support it - LET ME KNOW! :)

virus.exewin32.syskill by exewin 2018-12-04T19:53:50Z

@exewin

- i tried **`format C:/`** - it didn't work - i was dissapointed... - i tried **`nc`** - it didn't work - now i was pissed - then i tired **`carma.exe`** - didin't work - i cried at this moment ;(

But honestly - this game is hell of a work! **Looks fantastic, feels fantastic and it's so 90's!!** One thing that you can improve over this game - please add this **TURBO button** and LCD that will display **133MHz**!

**MOM PLEASE, MOM PLEEEEASE!** :)

LD44 — Your life is currency

Fake game by PoV 2019-04-30T07:40:04Z

I love it! Great design and learning curve - in text-only mode is where fun begins! ;)

Keep up good work!

Elevator Pitch by Hugimugi7 2019-05-03T13:11:43Z

That was fun, best part is when this fat'o explodes with coins and you can toss them around :)

Things to consider: - implement hanging onto lamps (that would be soo cool!) - jumping sometimes is glitchy - Add some basic menus or at last ESC to quit your game - i hate to Alt+F4 from games :/ - Elevator run takes too long and it's boring :/ - Add possibilty to skip dialogues.

Great job! What language / engine did you use?

PS. Great music! I love it!

Stay alive! by Richard Jedlicka 2019-05-03T08:17:30Z

Cool concept but in my imho needs redesign a little bit - smashing heart every 0.3s does not add any value to the game and it is tidious, everything is happening so fast you cannot even grasp what's going on and what you need to do, gameplay is little bit repetitive.

Shame that there is no sounds in this game - it probably would help a lot on figuring out what you are doing good, what wrong and what to do next!

Overall cool concept but need a little bit more polish i think. If it had some sounds and been little bit less repetititve - i would definitely play it again!

Good job on finishing!

Flow by arron-fowler 2019-05-03T16:54:10Z

Good game but a little bit confusing at start. It could be a little bit faster but i really enjoy it :)

Enemy Of The State by Darylsteak 2019-05-02T20:22:38Z

Wow - that was fun to play! Those realistic russian screams were creating nice tense atmposphere.

Not sure why but a little bit hard to aim (maybe a little bigger corsshair?) and it was lagging from time to time. I see here tense heavy metal music in background :)

Great job!

Treasure Hunt! by Bartosz 2019-05-04T06:31:19Z

Leap by Adam Elaoud 2019-05-03T17:04:31Z

Great game, although music is getting really annoying after a while - should be option to mute it. Every single time i started a game first gap was too big so i lost 1 heart (always!) Then when i was presented with a choice "double jump" or "platforms are closer" - i naturally choose double jumb because i mistrusted you with those platforms :D

Great pixelart btw - i really love it - platforms reminds me old times with first Mario and Gumbas :)

Space Pilot by Kaiomoi 2019-05-03T17:14:39Z

Cool concept but i could not enter QWERTY mode which was game breaking for me (btw - who this days even consider using anything else than qwerty? :O)

It's a shame that there was no sounds in the game, and no feedback when clicking on buttons...

Xochipilli's Trade by Giezi 2019-05-02T20:17:19Z

Fine pixel art, great music and sound effects, also really enjoyed animations as well. Not sure if maps were generated by random or different levels were created based on my sacrifice choice - anyway it keept me playing longer.

On the down side - jumping sometimes feels clunky and hiting with sword sometimes lags a bit, also shooting with pistol when you have just 1 or 2 rounds is kinda useless imho.

Overall amazing entry. It's really hard to believe that it was put together in just 72h - i feel ashamed :)

Fateshift by dougLima 2019-05-03T10:02:52Z

One sentence - i played this game for too long... Amazing design, great artwork and sound design! Animations play time perfect, particles and hit counters feels right and in place.

I played this game for over an hour!

On the design part - firstly i was annoyed that i cannot walk (i did not understand game concept yet), bu later i understood blocking mechanic and that you can get damage even if you block and if you block on the right time - you deal damage! That was amazing realization! But even with that game is not easy, after level 40 you will die in 1 hit so blocking is important.

Btw - i think i broke your game a little bit :)

bug.png

Ballsy Escape by GeneralAnimal 2019-05-03T10:19:38Z

Good game, but i found few bugs.

1. You can die multiple times before screen fades out (takes multiple hearts) 2. Sometimes you can hang to a wall (i think this was not intentional) 3. I think hearts should not be passed from level to level - there are some ways to exploit this and some levels are extremely easy (you can just spawn boxes) 4. It's weird to use c for chest, space for placing box, s for shop... it's too many keys i think

Tiacol - A journey through life by Camocc_Studios 2019-05-03T17:22:13Z

lol, didn't expect that finishing though :) Cool concept although clicking different letters as 'job' was tidious and unnecessary.

BetYourLife by JabbaScript 2019-05-03T12:55:16Z

Nice sounds and graphics - although it's strange that you can bet on puting all bullets - can it jam or something and i just didn't have luck? :)

Game crashed once on windows but then it was ok so i guess it wasnt a big issue. Good job finishing it!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Knightmare by krasse 2018-04-30T09:18:01Z

Firstly - where is theme? I don't get how it leans toward theme - which generes this game combines? I guess it could be platformer with some tower defence? Not entirely though and it's not that obvious.

Apart from that: Art is great, music even more awesome - it could be pixel-perfect in the menu too - that would be great (now you have some aliasing and compression on menu sprites)

I had a lot of fun playing this game, although once you get the idea how weapon works - there is almost no need to use dash - which is great game mechanics! Maybe some minimap would improve this situation, once you see where enemies are comming from and at which speed - using dash would had more sense. I saw little dear-skull icon popping out top left and right but i think it's too weak of a hint.

It was really fun to play and i stick for it for some time! Great entry!

I liked mood though, like in the "Labirynth" (movie / book) - it was great expirience although riddles were very easy (and thats good - this is beginig of game right? :) )

Great game overall.

Think Before Escape by acoto87 2018-05-01T08:04:53Z

Typicaly i'm quite bored with platformers but this game feels fresh as i was plaing platformer first time in my life!

Reminds me strongly "Braid" which was also platformer about time manipulation - it feels this way for me (not that you have turns but that you depend on some time manipulation trickery...)

Game is very well paced, teach you core concept very well and levels are very well designed. As some ppl mentioned before there are some issues later in the game that enemies are desynchronized and you have to wait a lot to progress, but on the other hand i love idea that you do not punish player for failing but simply you let him play again and again - this is very addictive! :)

Things that are lacking here are: - not very good pixel art (very repetetive :D) - no music or story :( - did i mentioned no music? :D

Great things in this game: - very well paced introduction to core concepts of the game - great level design - player movement and jumping feels very juicy - letting player play over and over without penalty - core concept is not very innovative (i think everybody thought for this theme :"turn based platformer") but execution is outstanding! - i see that you had to think about few issues with this idea like: "what to do when player respawn in enemy" or "what to do when player falls over into enemy over and over" - and you solved those issues very well! - enemies are quite 'smart' i would say and their new abilities are introduced step by step - which is very good - one enemy followed me even to next level (maybe bug but it feels like feature - and it was great feeling and suprise!)

Only bug that i found is that you can jump "on the level" - like in Mario - check out screenshot

@acoto87 I played your game again, and on second thought i would say - if you really polish this game and put a lot of thought into cool riddles, and add cool story - it can be next Super Meat Boy! :D Obviously for great success this needs a lot of marketing and probably some big advertisements like for XBox or PS but i would give it a try! ;)

FTD (Find The Differences) by AL19890604 2018-04-30T10:11:35Z

This is what defines (or should define) Ludum Dare games imho! Very simple game, well scoped, super easy to grasp concept, contains some bugs and follows theme greatly!

Good job on execution and it's very creative idea following theme!

Few bugs - things to add: - no music :( - no menu - if you build it for PC there is no way to exit game from full screen other than ALT+F4 - jumping is bugy - you can hold down up arrow and it jumps from platform to platform instantly - collisions - sometimes you can hang from side of platform - it should be obvious for player - you are ON the platform or OFF the platform - not in between :)

- player separation - MAIN BUG TO FIX (for me) like few ppl said before you have moments where right screen is not sync with left screen. If you wanted this as feature - this is not good idea - main goal in this game is to FIND DIFFERENCES - when you separate left from right screen - you make this game for player impossible to win - it's punishin player for no reason (they did nothing wrong in the game) - This is really bad.

I know what you did there - you made 2 players and you are steering them both with one input - this is bad because there are rounding errors in physic calculations or matrix transformations (if you would not use physic but kinematic rigidbody instead) What you should do is: - option 1: have one player, 2 cameras, rendering additional differences only on one camera, not the other - with layers in unity - option 2: have 2 players, steering only one of them, 2nd is only rendered where first is (clonePlayer.transform.position = mainPlayer.transform.position)

There are other options as well but i think this is more than enough for your purposes :)

I get a little bit technical above and maybe a little bit negative - but i think your game is one of greates ideas (very creative) in this LD!

Hoop Tactics by MonstermanMFR 2018-04-30T07:57:03Z

Great entry! It was really fun to play :) Game feels almost complete - few things lacking but it don't stop you from enjoying the game :)

Constructive criticism below: - Music little bit repetitive (not anoying but certainly too short) - Impossible actions should be grayed out (if you cannot move any more - Move should not be visible or grayed out) - Should have some kind of "action point" counter - so you know what you can do in your turn - AI movement should be more 'visual' - now you can barely see what it did - End Turn button would be nice - should end all other players turns - Players with move should be shown somehow (outline?) or players without move - grayed out - Chances for pass or shoot should be shown - it give you more immersive experience and would greatly improve your ability to do "tactics" - now it's kinda pure luck for me :)

I don't really like games where you need tap keys as fast as you can - it's tiring and unnecessary - in here though it kinda make sense, it builds up tension while zombies chase you and game is not very long so you can play it once or twice before your hand falls off :) I finished game without using water bottles :)

I like simplicity and cohesion. Everything about this feels right, even music, although graphic is a little bit chaotic in places and i don't buy your 'explanation' of theme to be honest. Good game design shows when you don't have to explain what you intended - here - you need to explain why theme is ok.

Maybe it's just me but just as i said - i don't buy it...
