I thought it was a cool concept! Loved the idea, it really reminded me of games like Papers, Please The only thing I found hard was that it was hard to keep track of who you had inspected, and when I did actually find a match, they had wandered so far that I lost them, which made the game pretty much unbeatable.

Ok @bartosz , call me a psycho.. but the first thing I did was to plant bombs everywhere and watch the people die.. so satisfying.

The game is really well done especially for a compo! Good job. Great theme match and I love the graphics. Dunno why they remind me of Rimworld. And the same.. people matching as in papers please.. I loved that game and yours has a great potential!

Thanks for pointing out the bugs in Ursa, we are going to fix them today. We overscoped a bit but managed to deliver.

Keep doing great job!

I'm found him and shoot him, pretty fun game! 🙂

@Maksym Thanks! I had a little bit of Papers Please in mind while implementing this, also - bombing away all civilians is greates feels very satisifing for some reason :D

I was aiming a bit for this "Syndicate" type of look and feel.

Cool game! I don't think I understood all of it haha. What do the agents do? And should I just shoot everyone until I find the boss, or is there a tactic? I really like the style of the graphics! With a bit more depth this could be a really nice game! (Or I just don't understand all of it  ) Nice job!

bartosz 2018-12-04 19:20

@drtizzle - agents go and interrogate civilians for you. If they find someone from the cartel - there is 50/50 chance to kill cartel guy or get killed. If it's boss - you win! Thanks for your feedback!

Wow! Really interesting entry, with some very unusual mechanics. The detection tool is really interesting, having to keep track on who you chose to profile whilst also waiting to see if the result matched. I really liked that aspect of it. I actually would have quite liked to be able to profile multiple people at once - it's perhaps a mechanical advantage, but keeping track of more people is an ever harder ask, and would have added more choices for the player.

I think most of the fun is derived from finding the quickest strategy. I think the game could have benefited from a slight reduction in scope - 100 citizens is so many! I would have preferred a lower number of civilians and a lower time limit to add some intensity to the situation. When I found the boss, I was almost disappointed, because I didn't expect the game to end when I had so much work left to do!

Good job! :) I had fun.

@maybelaterx Thankyou for your feedback! This mechanic of **"wait for detection and at the same time don't loose guy that you scanning"** was in my game design from the beginning - i think that's the biggest challenge. Wanted to leave player with decision on to how to win the game - i'm just giving meaningful tools - it's up to you how you use them to beat the game!

wizard-exe 2018-12-05 02:53

I had a big problem of starting to scan someone, and forgetting to keep an eye on them, so when a match was positive I had lost them. So I got mad and shot everyone nearby, lol. Quite a lot here especially for the short game jam.

It's an interesting idea, but as implemented I don't think it works that well. I started by just randomly shooting (and killing civilians) until I realised that the inspection tool was there, then it become a slow game of click on person, wait for inspection (some audio feedback on the inspect would be nice - even if you don't want to do a different sound for positive/negative you could at least have a sound for when it's running or when it's finished, so you know to look over there, although reading the comments the attention split may have been what you had intended, but I found it more annoying than difficult).

It also may have been your idea to make you try and keep track of people yourself after you've inspected them, but even if they weren't clones that would be basically impossible - so some indicator that they're a civilian would be nice.

Errr but anyway yeah the couple of times I played it, it was basically four minutes of inspecting followed by thirty seconds of shooting civilians (bombs are a bit hard to use with how people walk around randomly), and I didn't manage to beat it. I think you've got a pretty good concept to start with, just needs to be made a bit more user friendly.

2018-12-06_19-05-15.png Hello! I really enjoyed the game and was into it, I killed the boss and then... Game over, you won! Am I supposed to kill all the cartel members before the boss to avoid this ? :)

jens-steenmetz 2018-12-07 15:26

Really fun game! I played it multiple times, because I liked it so much. I have one point of improvement: it is a little bit too easy to win the game. I think it could be more of a challenge if you allow less citizen deaths. Didn't spoil the fun though! I would have loved to hear some music in the game, but I understand it is hard to make everything in 48 hours. Great job!

gwinnell 2018-12-08 21:11

One of the more interesting games I've played so far! I like the peoples movement behaviours. And am I right in thinking I saw one of the cartel kill one of my agents?

I sacrificed too many civilians on my first go - it might have been nice to know what the threshold for losing was. I noticed I couldn't select people underneath the UI in the top-left, and I found it hard to read the 'match' / 'no match' text when using the inspect ability because of the text colour and background contrast. I don't have red/green colourblindness, but an outline on the font might have fixed the readability there. I think I'd also maybe liked to start with a smaller scoped scenario rather than go straight in with 100, but I understand the limitations of a jam/compo. :)

I think something like this could be expanded on. Great work!

bartosz 2018-12-08 21:46

@mercilesscult you can kill all cartel members or just the boss - in both cases you win :) Congrats on catching him! ;)
