Well, I didn't complete the game but I am not sure there is any other end than "have a good time next friday".
Some branching in the action structure and the score would have been different :)

Worked for me! It was quite fun, I completed it. Music, Sfxs and atmosphere are good.
Also, I got the same error as everyone else but I run the program from the command prompt with java -jar alonegame.jar and then it worked but complained about finding the BlenderModelLoader.
Installed from the link as suggested but it didn't work. Same error message about missing dll.

I used Java 7 from the command prompt (java -jar Snowfall.jar)
Game played rather well I think. It had this feeling of "alone". Guns were good but why would anyone use the gun when you have the other weapons? Would be good with limited ammo for the better weapons or something.
The zombies filled their role but were a little to fast.

Jilius: Yeah, I made a huge mistake and changed some small constant and didn't playtest enough before the time ran out. There is a modified version at springworldgames.com/yae where you have more health and the enemies react more slowly.

I don't know if the music is supposed to sound like that but it kind of worked given the theme.
The initial presentation was very good.
As a game it had its problems with control that felt a bit strange. I did't enjoy so much playing it but the presentation made an impression.
If you improve the control and add more models/graphics, it has potential for becoming a great game.
It says "Windows" in the link but the download seems to be for Mac. Maybe you have a link that is missing and a link that points to the wrong binary?

I started to like this game a lot until I died after collecting a lot of ore for my magic rifle.
Then I just didn't want to continue because I had to start over from scratch again.
I realize that we now live in the era of non-death games where we expect to have either unlimited lives or a very powerful recharging shield. We are no longer used to having just 3 lives (or 1 in this game) and then prepared to start all over again.
Because of this new spoiled environment for hard-working game makers like us, I suggest that you change this to approach the more suitable non-death variant. Or, just keep it as it is and make spoiled players (like me) remember the old, harsh but fantastic time when you could actually die in a game :)

Gameplay is great, some tweaking is necessary though such as the jump that is way to good at maximum upgrade.

The boss should be available straight ahead from the start position, but it is just a larger, red-headed, variant of the enemies.
I didn't have time to implement the "battery" feature and corresponding pickups, which would prevent the invulnerability. There were also supposed to be upgrades of the batterly life, music influence radius, walking speed, health etc. that would have made it a lot better.
I am currently developing this game a bit more. I have added a link above to that version.

Ok, thanks Barry. I don't know what the problem is but I could only run the game in Chrome on my old laptop. I hope it is a problem with WebGL and not some bug... Do you get any error messages in some console?
There is now a canvas version available that works in IE but it runs slow as hell :)
monkeymad2: I am using three.js which has a couple of different renderers. There is also a DOM renderer and an SVG renderer, but I haven't tested any of them.
You have to perform some small tweaks with materials but it was a minor issue when the graphics is this simple :)

It was a bit difficult at first but then it quickly became easy after a few upgrades.

Then something strange happended... The sound went really loud and the "uhh" sound pierced my poor ears. That was not the strange part though...
The strange part was that when I turned off the sound on the computer, the "uhh" sounds managed to get through anyway!! How the hell did you do that? I guess you didn't actually mean to though :)

I'd suggest that you remove the pointer lock and instead have a dynamic camera that fits close enemies inside the view.

Really like the look of the gameplay. It got some time getting used to the controls, but then it was fun.

Liked the simple graphics and the game mechanics. But yeah, I agree that the keys were a bit off at the beginning before realizing that I was holding my hand like I type, which was obviously not the best way :)

Art style is really good. It is difficult yes, but true retro shooters should be like that. Coupling the "damage" to the same as weapon heat make you think twice before you shoot (or just once, you don't get much time ;)

Well, that was depressing. Very dark and disturbing game. It was really great though, don't get me wrong. I agree that the hitbox should be larger on the sores.
Nice game! Took a while before I understood that I was supposed to capture the pickaxe :) That could have been part of the instructions text. Simple but effective music and solid gameplay fun.
It works surprisingly smooth in the browser. Fun and could easily be expanded into a real game. Ahhh the music though, is it supposed to be 5s long repeating the same thing? Well, it was really fun to play, thanks for sharing it.
That was pretty intense :). I have always enjoyed typing games, but this was more fun than most I've played. I liked the music as well, reminded me of Earthbound
Cool idea. But I got to the end with 10 moons (first level) and it all turned black and the music was turned off. Still got some time left to squash some bugs perhaps? Good platform mechanics, great control

Worked fine for me using latest Firefox on a mac. The game was very cute but also made me sad. Now I realize my free-running pig didn't go to a farm like my parents told me :(
The Twitch game idea is pretty neat. Couldn't test it in VR though and only simulated, so I didn't get the full experience.
Very hard without any items :) Yes, the minigun is awesome.
Add some more SFXs to the post-compo and it will get a lot better.

Cool restriction with the colors! So are you trying to tell us in a clever way that those people with mexican hats are, wait what? If you make a post-compo version, please make sure to add another jump button. Pressing up for double jump feels wrong for some reason. Awesome first entry!

Wow, this game looks fantastic! Really liked the idea of the rolling cat, although it needs some work with the control etc. How about some charge/power that you can use to control the rotation? Anyways, awesome work.
Ooh, a real gem! This is really innovative and also well implemented. Love a lot about this, the music and SFXs, the ball physics and the fact that you can create you own layouts. It was a bit confusing first that the mouse was used for shooting, but that makes perfectly sense, although it could have been communicated better. Congrats, this will get some good reviews for sure!
Great party game! Impressive that you were able to record that background loop, although you could have made it fade out at the end so that it doesn't clip when it loops.

Love the look of this game! I lost a couple of times just to get a good look at all the characters :smile: Music is pretty good, but it scared me first since it starts with a bang :smile: Didn't make to the top of the highscore unfortunately... Great entry!
Got squashed!!! But after quite some time, you could ramp up the difficulty faster as a suggestion. Fun and new mechanics which could be expanded by making the room shape change as well so it is easier to get trapped. The higher difficulty you could have a full-blown maze that shrinks :)

Very nice visuals! Extremely well made for a jam entry. I like the mechanics where you have to drive close but not too close. The only problem is that it doesn't fit the theme that well, but everything else is top notch.

This is a fantastic entry. Rare with such a polish for a jam game. I really hope that this ends up at least top 5. The music transition from day to night was amazing.
Looking really fresh! I kind of missed the audio part though, just a few SFXs from BFXR would have improved it a lot. I like that you integrated the "shop" into the gameplay and not having a separate UI for that. Great entry!

Nice game that was surprisingly fun to play for me. I didn't think that the ship was difficult to control like I see some complaints about above. Very satisfying that the physics works the way it does. Tested to fly close to the rotating portals and got a satisfying and surprising smash :) Liked the music and graphics, although the particle effects marking the track were a bit disorienting since they (I think) moved in the wrong direction sometimes? Music, Sfxs and graphics were all good.
So confusing :) When I finally wrote something and heard a voice, that was a bit shocking. I don't really understand what you've made, but I won't forget it at least :)
Good combination of genres, which I like both of them. It was a bit difficult to understand how to build up combos, couldn't really get how to do that since getting three of the same just collapses. But then I read that you could match up against your own tail, which makes this game much more interesting in its current form :) Great entry with simple but effective music and graphics.

Ahh, the perfect life captured in a game ;) It is a bit like super mario maker, but without that annoying plumber shouting all the time. Great entry, hope you continue with it and add some cool music and a more polished build experience.
I wasn't fast enough :) Fun idea. You could improve the game by adding some kind of decision tokens each time you answer correctly and not just have "burst" as an automatic action.
This is exactly how I drive my kids to school!! I have tons of messages and stuff to do and manage to do it all while driving, so this was easy for me. Yeah I'm kidding of course. This is actually a good point of not driving while texting. The game is also very fun and polished. Love the graphics!

Music and graphics are great, but I guess that you opted out from the audio category since you didn't create that yourself. A cool addition would be to be able to store actions somehow with some more difficult questions. Thanks!
Fun and smart game. At first I was annoyed about the missing control for keyboard though, but I guess you mainly focus on the touch game market. Did the same mistake myself during a jam :) Switching out cards would be a great addition with some additional time penalty or something else like a score penalty or something. Maybe a combo that counts up if you use only the cards you are given? Anyways, a great entry, good luck!

A fantastic entry! A likely compo top 3 or even winner.
Enjoyed this a lot and it has some great potential as well. You can easily extend it with more advanced commands later that can include wait and sensor actions with branching and stuff like that. But, it should be possible to complete anyway with simple commands. This could make it an awesome game to play for coders like myself and more timing-skilled individuals. Very nice graphics. The music gets old really fast though ;)
