LD42 — Running out of space

Summer Breakdown by pixelstuff 2018-08-18T00:09:39Z

Cool Game! It was simple fun and easy to understand and play straight away, with nice art and mood. I think a sound effect when you start getting annoyed would help you realize when something was too close.

Legacy by gil4 2018-08-18T10:15:57Z

Absolutely beautiful game!. I agree with @apples-mmmmmmmm about the thorns, sometimes I walked over them without noticing what was going on. I think a sound and visual effect when taking damage would be very helpful. Sound effects in general would add a lot to the game feeling more responsive and interactive too I think.

I found some of the puzzles slightly frustrating, especially the one where we have to race the teleport globe at the end, I had already lost my slots then so it wasn't that bad for me but if I had managed to keep more items up until then and then tried that puzzle I think I would be very frustrated as I would have lost everything trying to get through the gate. I think if the timing was a bit less tight and/or the obstacles were a bit easier to avoid on that one it would help. Also a minor thing, is I think I had a bug with pop ups. After losing slots and picking up new items I got a pop up for the item at the front of the list rather than the newest item.

All in all, I really enjoyed it, I thought the concept and puzzles were good and I thought the art, animation and atmosphere were superb!

Loot Keeper by outstar 2018-08-19T00:41:06Z

Loved the game. The art in particular was absolutely amazing! Just a minor thing, when the items hit the side of the inventory I think a sound effect would be nice, like a clink or something. Great game

Hot Trees by Kornel 2018-08-14T13:40:04Z

Cool game! I especially liked the tree death animation. I had problems with the dash working and I wasn't always sure why I was taking damage. Maybe a visual effect when you get hit (like some bubbles appearing in front of you for the goo) and tighter hitboxes would be helpful for that. I also think a punchier shotgun sound effect would be very satisfying!

(After A) PARTY SIMULATOR 2018 by Autumnotopia 2018-08-14T14:40:39Z

Nice game! I can tell that you are part(y)ial to a pun... I liked the concept and it was well written, I couldn't figure out the second puzzle though. I agree with @scott-steffes about the food positions not being reset when leaving. I think more feedback on when things are wrong and why would be helpful to figuring things out .

LETTERBOX by Shell Pirate 2018-08-14T07:53:49Z

Really Nice! Really polished. I think the controls, especially the wall jump could be a bit tighter, but I thought the idea was cool and well executed!

Demon Space by FreezedIce 2018-08-18T23:49:48Z

I absolutely loved it! I thought it was such a smart and cool idea, I had a lot of fun playing it!. I particularly liked the council room challenge, also as @cydouzo and @undefinist said the library challenge is kind of already done for you by windows explorer sorting the books. I didn't quite understand the color splat puzzle, I started trying going from darkest to lightest then had to use trial and error to finish it off, maybe some of the hues threw me off. All in all, amazing job!

Pizza Defender by Sloyd 2018-09-02T13:38:22Z

Thought the graphics were superb! Especially the death animations for the vegetables were very nice  . I think as other people said the pacing could use some work (it's a little slow in the beginning) and of course sfx and music would also help a lot. Overall though great job

GoldSlash by Gjallar 2018-08-14T14:18:41Z

I thought it was great! Especially the art! I particularly liked the Gobb spawn animation where they come out of the ground. I had the bug where the enemies disappeared but kept hitting me also it wasn't that clear to me what the objective was. It took me a while to realize I had the coin in my hands when I walked over it, and I read another comment about putting them in the machine. So when I tried that out and got 2 coins in there I was very excited to get to the next level and the whole environment changing!

It was tricky to get the coins in the machine, I had to jump and drop the coin at the right time for it to register as being in there, otherwise it registered as me picking it up again. I think I would have preferred it if when I jumped into the machine with the coin in my hand it registered as being collected. Also it would be helpful if we could slash while jumping, sometimes I was stuck in a hole that was too deep and couldn't get out. (Although I did figure out pretty late that double jumping exists).

All in all, I thought it was super nice!

Adventures of Spacepup! by FlyingKiwi 2018-08-20T22:28:02Z

The art was really great! I think it would help to animate the main character as having them static makes it a little lifeless. Also I think sfx and music would help make the game more immersive. Then as other people said the controls could be tighter, and there seem to be some problems with collision detection. A minor thing is if you don't immediately press space after pressing play there is no way to start the game as clicking out of the frame and back in doesn't give focus to the game. All in all though nice work, particularly on the graphics

Clot! by Ghoster 2018-08-19T00:09:59Z

Really nice game! the combination of mechanics was great and I really liked the art style. I especially thought the animations and sound effects made it feel nice and responsive. I think that the spawn rates may be too high as when trying to push blocks into the right place it's really easy to get swamped by enemies. That meant it wasn't possible to do too much with the matching mechanic and I spend most of the time just shooting. Also maybe an indicator of where enemies are coming from on the edge (maybe just a colored or grey dot) would help as sometimes when I was near the edge I got killed by an enemy that just became visible which was a bit frustrating. Overall great game!

Death Remains by DuckyDaniel 2018-08-18T00:47:18Z

Nice game! I really liked the idea, I also had the movement bug where I kept moving and shooting in a single direction and it wasn't registering my commands. All in all though seems really good

@tontonpizza thanks for the feedback

@brandon-js-lea thanks for the detailed feedback , I agree with your comments about the physics. I'm planning on rewriting the physics so it uses custom physics rather than unity's physics engine so I can have more control over how the player/blocks behave. I'll also look into the wall sliding/sticking comment you raised.
