I really dig (no pun intended) the art and the design of the player character. This is a really interesting concept, I like that the bottom of the screen moved up instead of it being a 'race the screen' sort of thing.

shell-pirate 2018-08-14 08:18

Good work! I think the graphics worked and the music reminded me of old miner-themed flash games for some reason. The gameplay was solid although some sound effects would make it more impactful. I also think the boxes themselves are a little jittery at times and it might be just me but they don't seem to be able to crush you - only the platforms do. I could be mistaken. Overall, solid entry!

bredera 2018-08-14 08:19

The Art style and the design of the game stand out the most, cool concept and good execution!

pixelstuff 2018-08-14 09:17

Nice graphics, and great work on this !

At first i thought it was a little too easy then i die... So play again, understand i can push the box, so i did and.. die. So play again and yes, I was a little trapped !

xyph 2018-08-14 13:23

Very nice little game :smile: ! I manage to get 52 blocks ! :smiley: Is the jump sound effect made with your voice ? xD

guilhermoni 2018-08-14 13:28

Art is really great, so are the controls. Only thing is i think its a little unfair, lots of time i was completly trapped by boxes, just waiting for my death. Besides that, nice entry, well done!

krasse 2018-08-14 13:30

Dung, dung, dung, RIP! Cool game with a novel mechanics. Nice graphics and sound!

rs11s21n 2018-08-14 13:36

good but or too hard or too short)

yulia 2018-08-14 13:37

very nice game....I like it

Ooops just realized I can reply to comments here...

@autumnotopia thanks! :slight_smile: I enjoyed the pun intentional or no!

@shell-pirate :slight_smile: Thank you for the detailed feedback, I had some trouble getting the blocks to be reliable for sure

@xyph :smile: thanks! Haha yes I did the jump sound effect with my voice

@bredera, @pixelstuff, @guilhermoni, @krasse, @rs11s21n and @yulia thank you guys for the feedback :slight_smile:

Overall I have good time with your game the jump was a bit glitchy (especially the audio)I really like graphics the idea is not taht innovative but fit well with the theme.

thecritterscove 2018-08-14 14:15

Fun idea for the theme! The graphics are simple, but nice to look at. I'm liking the jazzy music too.

Unfortunately the mechanics do seem to depend a lot on luck. Maybe if the player had a skill to more reliably move the blocks?

ashment 2018-08-14 19:43

Cool take on the race-the-screen infinite runner type games. It fits the theme quite well, and the graphics are nice. Good job!

sebastian-m 2018-08-19 02:30

Such a clever concept. Awesome music with that sick double bass. The game can be stress inducing, but some of the best games do that.

Awesome job overall man!

tontonpizza 2018-08-21 00:03

oh i realize too late i can move the blocs pushing them

brandon-js-lea 2018-08-21 22:09

The idea of pushing around blocks to make room for yourself is quite innovative and on theme. However, the physics got in the way a bit too much for me. Pushing around the blocks feels very awkward and so I very rarely felt in control. Perhaps having the blocks also be tile based (as in when you push them they sort of jump to the next tile) rather than this mish-mash of tilebased meets non tilebased would make deaths feel less random and not my fault. Also, the wall slide doesn't feel natural, like I'm not even sure if it's a bug because the animations seem to change as I'm sticking to a wall. I think part of the reason for this is that in a game where the floor is rising up beneath you, clinging to a wall never really serves you, especially since I couldn't find a way to jump off of them. Complaints aside, there's a nice idea here mixed with some pretty good art.

bearmask-studios 2018-08-22 12:35

@tontonpizza thanks for the feedback

@brandon-js-lea thanks for the detailed feedback :slight_smile:, I agree with your comments about the physics. I'm planning on rewriting the physics so it uses custom physics rather than unity's physics engine so I can have more control over how the player/blocks behave. I'll also look into the wall sliding/sticking comment you raised.

brandon-napky 2018-08-22 14:51

In love with the graphics and the jazzy music! Great job guys! I think it would be really cool if you could feel the blocks snapping together into fixed positions!

Please rate us back <3

samboyer276 2018-08-22 14:54

hey, nice game! Clever mechanic and quite fun to keep replaying. The music was an awesome addition :D Initially I didn't realise that the grass platforms were solid on both sides as the boxes could still move through them, but it made sense once I realised that (and died a couple times to it .-. ) overall good job!

daria-s 2018-08-22 15:13

nice art and awesome music! :)

king-kujito 2018-08-22 16:10

Very nice. Sometimes it gets a bit finicky but I love this concept.

agar3s 2018-08-24 01:50

I like a lot of the sound effects! and music also works pretty well. The core mechanic is simple but it works very well, the only thing I missed is a way to push forward bottom blocks, maybe some kind of powerup to destroy some blocks anything like that would have been awesome!

bearmask-studios 2018-09-03 13:18

@brandon-napky @samboyer276 @daria-s @king-kujito @agar3s Thanks for the feedback guys :slight_smile:

I enjoyed it! Especially loved the bgm and the jump sfx. Jumping around while pushing the blocks away felt fun, I can imagine this game on mobile with several types of blocks + "whenever several blocks of the same type form a chain they disappear" mechanic, haha. Well done!
