LD38 — A Small World

(Un)Happy by pcmaster 2017-05-08T15:32:09Z

Oh man this game is so cute!! I loved making the little squares happy! I also really like how the ships snap onto the planet when you get close. I did notice one minor bug, the thrusters on the sides need to be reversed. When you press the left arrow key the left thruster activates and you turn left which goes against physics. Simply reversing them will fix it. Nice game!

Astro-Bastard Drunken Rampage by Zarkith 2017-05-05T21:13:28Z

There are a lot of things I really like about this game even though it's not quite done. I really like the look of the main character. You did a great job on his movements and animations. I also really like how cute the City buildings are. The music is great too! I also think the title is quite funny! :D Here are the thing I think you can improve. The controlls seem to queue up for a long time after you've released a direction key, you keep moving in that same direction for a while. Maybe you planned to add this, but I think it would be so funny if the inhabitants of the world get mad when you destroy their towns and start attacking you with tiny tanks and planes. I think this game has a lot of potential!

Crater Creator by navot 2017-05-05T20:33:37Z

This game was really cool! It reminds me a Kerbal Space program which is a super game. I think you did a fantasict job coding the trajectories. Everything ran great and did not see any bugs. The color coding of the trajectories and the length of the dashed lines based on speed was a nice touch.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

CPU Heater by krasse 2017-12-04T21:06:07Z

I agree this would make a great multiplayer game!

Things I really liked: - The thruster graphics. I love the effect you made for the thrusters really beaufiful - Graphics in general - Music - mood

Things I think could be improved - I couldn't tell if I was hovering on ice, or floating above the clouds. I think that could be disambiguated.

Thanks for this awesome game!

Majestyland by IgorsGames 2017-12-06T19:14:50Z

Love that you used Godot engine! The more competition in the engine market the better and love that you chose an open source engine for your game. The graphics are so adorable! And such good humor!

Ignorance is Bliss by Aurel300 2017-12-06T23:35:58Z

Wow! This is super amazing in every category! I really love the old dos retro style graphics. My only question is why why flash and not HTML5?

Drgn by UnlikelyNomad 2017-12-06T03:34:45Z

I love the music! Really cool that you made that yourself. The dragon eating sound fx is SO funny too! nomnomnomnom :D

The Burdened Raid by evgiz 2017-12-07T13:09:18Z

LOVED this game! It totally inspired me to do better my next compo. Thank you for sharing the tools used! I've never heard of LibGDX it looks awesome! And I also didn't know about Chronolapse. Two tools I definitely want to try out next jam.

The Burdened Raid by evgiz 2017-12-08T02:35:51Z

@evgiz Did you start with a basic libGDX dungeon example?

The Burdened Raid by evgiz 2017-12-08T11:16:50Z

@evgiz Awesome! That would explain why I couldn't find an example base like that anywhere online. Would you mind sharing the source of the base you started with?

The Burdened Raid by evgiz 2017-12-12T16:01:08Z

@evgiz awesome thanks!

Rude Bear Rabble by alexrose 2017-12-05T04:25:40Z

Hey! Congratulations on finishing an online multiplayer game in 3 days!! And on top of that you also have amazing art and audio, that is a true feat!

I got to the end, saw a few people join, but was mostly solo, still fun though. I had a question, when I got to the end I didn't see anything. How does one get the ghost chalice? Only thing I saw at the end was a cliff which I eventually jumped off and died. Does the chalice only appear if you have enough people?

Rude Bear Rabble by alexrose 2017-12-05T15:28:58Z

@alexrose Ah that image helps a lot thank you! Looks like I didn't actually reach the end, just the big chasam in the middle. I stood there for a while and didn't see a way across, so yeah If there is suppose to be a moving platform there, it never showed up. I didn't see any other players around. I'll try it again later.

The Will of the Wisps by adsilcott 2017-12-06T04:02:25Z

That was a really incredible experience. I'm totally blown away! BRAVO!

I think this is one of the most memorable games I've played in a Ludum Dare ever.

Quadrilateral Damage by TheMadPangolin 2017-12-05T18:04:19Z

Hey! This is definitely my favorite game so far! It's crazy good as a compo entry. Congratulations! The only thing I think it's missing is music. High marks in FUN too!

get>set by rela_x 2017-12-06T18:42:58Z

Very beautifully done! Love the music and the aesthetics of this game! And the puzzles were challenging and fun.

Mana4Life by dawik9000 2017-12-07T01:55:02Z

This is such a bad ass game! My high score was 715. The graphics are amazing, and I like that you are showing a diversity in engines. I support Epic since they are a local company and I have friends that use to work there. So I'm always happy to see people using this most great engine.

Too Many Cooks! by Bocodillo 2017-12-06T18:29:21Z

Wow! That's an impressive amount of asprite work for a compo, and it's really good too! I'm impressed! The game is also really fun! Nailed the theme.

The Pickups by Chorlo 2017-12-05T18:27:57Z

Hey! I loved your intro text, very creative, and cute! "The skeletons, bottles and lots of grass planet" part totally made me laugh :D It does have a few minor typos you should clean up.

The game itself was fun! I think it would be a lot more fun if Mike would spawn in the same position each time, so when I see his icon appear I know where to run back to to drop off my bottles. Right now it's only random chance that I run into Mike, so it's a bit frustrating. I loved the music an sound effects also. Great entry!

Greedy Leprechaun! [HTML5 Demo Link] by David Greene 2017-12-05T17:39:11Z

I like the music! Cool use of physics. I had fun playing your game!

Kittie Reaper: A Depressed Cat Tale by jfraser314 2017-12-07T22:25:43Z

This game is so funny and cute! I love the dialog, and the concept, and art. So funny! I would love to see more cute animals to avoid, like cats, or puppies. Your student team did a great job!

The Source Seekers by MuffinCookie 2017-12-06T18:04:01Z

Really good job making all those blender models in the short compo time! The game play is really fun to!

Space Cactus by Brian Wurster 2017-12-06T02:03:15Z

My favorite part of this game: you used phaser.js. It's great to see more people using this awesome engine. I loved your art and music too!

Catlady by oson 2017-12-05T18:08:25Z

Fishing Day by VictorSimoes 2017-12-06T02:31:21Z

WOW! I was totally blown away by the beauty of this game! The art, models, colors, and shaders, are so aesthetically appealing. I just just play this game to releax. It's very calming and fun. Amazing work!

LD44 — Your life is currency

See:NoMore by Criobite 2019-05-20T15:31:14Z

Very innovative game play! You did a great job simulating a desktop environment. It was easy to forget that I wasn't using an actual desktop. I loved your take on the theme too!

Chrominance reloaded by Rahtainka 2019-05-02T23:41:40Z

I really like the color twist to tower defense, although I couldn't tell which color the turret would shoot - it seemed to change randomly, or was that the color running out? Aside from the UI cues it's a really nice game! Great work!

Nine Lives by markusfisch 2019-05-09T21:27:48Z

I checked out the source code. It looks like you coded everything from scratch, without an engine? That's pretty impressive. Nice work!

Library of Madness by ectucker1 2019-05-02T23:48:46Z

Overall this is a really fun game! The concept is cool, great job!

Ransom by CaramelCode 2019-04-30T16:18:28Z

@mrpiedpiper Thank you so much for the feedback!! Those bug reports were very helpful and should all be fixed now! I'm looking forward to playing your game too! :D

Ransom by CaramelCode 2019-04-30T20:35:13Z

@shunaky you don’t need a controller. You just click the yes or no controller buttons with your mouse.

Ransom by CaramelCode 2019-05-03T16:45:41Z

@mags Thanks! Yes Rowen and Elliott were absolutely involved in the brainstorming. That was the first thing we did friday night. Was all of us brainstorming. Here is a screenshot of our brainstorm notes:

Screenshot from 2019-05-03 12-43-28.png

That's awesome that you participated with your husband. I can't wait to check out your game!

Ransom by CaramelCode 2019-05-21T18:15:19Z

@mrjoshuamclean Thanks for the playthough video! That was great feedback about putting the credits on the title screen, I totally agree!

Coinroll Adventures by MrPiedPiper 2019-05-03T01:53:10Z

Hey I really loved many parts of your game! Things I really thought were good the pixel art, the music, and the innovative idea that the main character is a coin roll and uses coins from his head! I thought that was really clever. I also really really really love that you used Godot! Well done!

Make Money by Kaleido 2019-04-30T18:22:37Z

Man I love a good simulation game! You did a great job of simulating all of life's expense and income. I got PTSD when I saw the Federal Tax at the bottom! LOL :)

Nine Lives by Evan M 2019-05-02T23:28:22Z

Graphics and music are awesome, love adorable cats. The halo is such a cool mechanic, although I was stumped from the 2nd screen, got the first halo down with the hint, but it did take forever to figure out how to get all the way across. Concept is awesome, maybe make a few easier interactions before hitting me with the huge gap. :)

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Manic Miner by ryannielson 2021-04-27T14:49:01Z

Hello! I love that you made a Pico-8 game! There is something so soothing about the small resolution and the true pixel rendering. I think your game was very fun. It's works and is smooth! I didn't find any bugs. Overall fun game!

Aleph Qoph / Duat by ancient-pixel 2021-04-28T21:35:05Z

Wow! I loved your game! My favorite part: you showed me that you can do a 3D game in Phaser, which I didn't know before playing your game. It was obvious that you didn't use Unity (like the majority of people in this jam) which always makes me get interested to see what engine was used. So I was surprised to see Phaser, so I had to go through your source code to figure out how you did it. I love puzzles like that! My only feedback maybe a way to find your way back to the oasis? I felt very lost, but maybe that's the point! Nice game!

Deep Team by crucknuk 2021-04-27T23:41:50Z

Hello! Congratulations on completing your game! The graphics and sound effects are super cute! My only feedback is to know a bit more about what the goal is. That wasn't obvious to me, other than working to get resources from the mine. I think it's a cool team balancing game! Nice work!

Vertigo by GaryS 2021-05-03T13:27:24Z

Awesome! +1 for using Phaser! Love the pixel art and retro style! My only suggestion is to rename the "Exit" button to "Play again" or "Menu" I wanted to keep playing but exit made me think I was done. anyway very minor thing. The over all game is amazing!

SeaSnap by Cral 2021-05-02T20:08:32Z

Wow I'm super impressed by your game. It looks like a game that was built over a year, so the fact that you made all of that from scratch is 72 hours is truly astounding.

Shleep by drewstillwell 2021-04-28T03:17:40Z

Hey! Great work on your game! I played the whole thing and it gave me a big smile :) My favorite part is how much imagination you put into it. My feedback is, try to figure out why there is a little gap in your tiles, that would help the world feel more solid. Nice game!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Ride the Sauze by Meta-link 2022-04-11T01:43:03Z

Wooo I love me a good snowboarding game!! I think one of my favorite features of Zelda Breath of the Wild was shield riding down a snowy mountain, so your game takes that best part which I love! Very impressive for just 48 hours! My only suggestion for next time is adding some music and audio, there are a lot of tools that make creating simple music easy even for a compo game. Nice work!

Sakura Shrine by arzi 2022-04-11T00:10:07Z

I love the pixel art and music in this game! I also really like the creative spin on the theme. My only suggestion for improvement is a walking animation for the main character. Beautiful game!

STONEHOLD by teamscripta 2022-04-06T20:17:53Z

@mistagiggles Since it's a browser based game, I'm guessing it's something with the browser you're using. Can you tell me, what browser + version, and OS you are using? Also it could be browser extensions affecting the game, can try playing in a new incognito window? Or a different browser?

STONEHOLD by teamscripta 2022-04-06T20:32:08Z

@mistagiggles Just to make sure we support all browsers, I just tested the game on Chrome & Firefox in Linux and Windows, Edge in Windows, and Safari on Mac. And it plays fine for me in all of them. So my best guess is that it could be a browser extension or an older browser version that is breaking the game. To work around this try playing in a new Incognito window, or Switching to a latest version of a completely different browser, for example: if you're on Chrome, try Firefox or vice versa. Also make sure your browsers are the latest version. Try those things, starting with playing in an Incognito window and let me know if it fixes it.

I also am very interest what browser + version + OS that you are using, because I would love to try to reproduce this. Thanks!

STONEHOLD by teamscripta 2022-04-06T20:46:58Z

@mistagiggles Excellent! I'm so glad that fixed the issue for you and you were able to play. Thank you so much for playing! :)

STONEHOLD by teamscripta 2022-04-09T17:44:14Z

@sleepystudios I fixed the https issue, can you try the jam version again?

Age of Chips by MaiMai 2022-04-06T01:00:20Z

Wow what a super ambitions project! I would never be brave enough to tackle a game of this scope, very impressive! I think the art is great, and smooth graphics. I love space games so I think it's awesome you chose this as your setting. Is there sposed to be audio? I couldn't hear any, but that might have been me.

Dating under the Comet by Joscco 2022-04-11T02:59:07Z

Oh wow, this is such a unique entry! I never thought I would be playing a dating simulator with procedurally generated offspring and generations, I love how weird it is! Art and music and game design are all great! Good job!

Beyond The Veil by Hare Software 2022-04-11T00:58:26Z

Ok wow, let me pick my jaw off the floor before I write this.. That was SO GOOD! I was drawn in right away and the voice acting holy crap are you kidding me with that!! I've never heard voice acting like that in a Game Jam. Congrats on having the talent connections! I also thought the story was very good, and well written, and the art matched the mood, although the art could be polished up in a few places, first scene was great, the others looked like you were hurrying for time, which is understandable. I thought the card system was fun and was able to finally beat the game, after dying once. I'm thankful that I wasn't sent all the way back to the beginning after dying. Oh the one minor bug I noticed was when I died fighting the knight at the end and was sent back, the epic music stopped, and there was no music for a while, then it started again. Anyway my favorite entry so far nice job!!!

Last of the Sky Folk by Ian Kettlewell 2022-04-06T01:38:37Z

Wow this has been my favorite game so far! I love that you wrote it in Rust for a Compo that is SUPER impressive to me! I thought the ending was very funny! My only suggestion for improvement would be some more audio and music, but I understand that would be very hard in a Compo.

Crystalysis by jordantanner 2022-04-11T01:17:57Z

Very interesting game! I loved the particle effects of the crystals exploding. And I think the graphical glow on the crystals was a nice touch! One thing I wish was that the attack key was not 'k' that's a very awkward key to hit for me, without both hands on the keyboard. Nice job!

Crystalysis by jordantanner 2022-04-11T02:48:22Z

Yeah any key you can easily reach with left hand on the keyboard, or even better LMB.

Rising wind Island by ShivArt 2022-04-07T02:47:37Z

Beautiful pixel art! This game is amazing as a compo entry! It was quite fun to play. My only suggestion for improvement is to end the game somehow, either make the island eventually fall, or declare victory once the player gets into a steady state and could permanently keep their island flying.

Nighty Night, Nosferatu by Shawn Moore 2022-04-07T00:38:51Z

I'm super impressed that you did this for a compo! It looks amazing and the music is good, tbh that is the most impressive part of this compo entry, that you got such great original music in there in the short time. It's also very fun and funny! Also Phaser +1 stars for that! Phaser FTW!

The 13th Colony by kristinamay 2022-04-06T20:07:46Z

A Phaser game! Also in TypeScript! +1 stars from me just for that! I think this is my favorite game that I've played so far. Very appealing art, and the game seems very very well polished. My only feedback is to disable the tile tool-tips when the cursor is over a dialog window. It overlaps tile tooltip like "unknown region" overlaps the dialog text window. But that is the only thing I noticed. Amazing game! Great work to your whole team!

The End Of Days by Anson Rutherford 2022-04-09T00:22:40Z

Hilarious game! I totally laughed out loud at the dialog between the Demon and Clark haha! :D

One suggestion for improvement: make the explosion SFX more BOOM, the pop doesn't do the havok justice >:)

Somnokid by Saturnyoshi 2022-04-07T15:37:31Z

Such a beautiful game! Every detail was so artistic and pleasing to look at. I would call this game delightful in every way!

Hearts Ablaze by Jon Topielski 2022-04-06T23:12:02Z

Amazing music, amazing art, smooth game play, good design! The whole package! Bravo!

Death's Gambit by osh.studio 2022-04-07T03:01:39Z

Love the isometric pixel art! I also really like the card mechanic. It just needs some cool music and it would be perfect! Well done!

Job at METeA by Kiseki 2022-04-06T02:13:50Z

I feel this game. Eventually AI will take over the world right?? Hit's pretty close to home. The dialog totally made me laugh out loud. And the graphics are so cute, and go well with the light-hearted feel of the game. Nice work!

Nightwaker by Bottled up Dark Peace 2022-04-11T01:31:02Z

Hello! Wow I'm super enthralled by this game! It's just oozing with mood. Cool original story and characters and the art and design was fantastic! The only small improvement I could see was there was a little glitchiness between levels with audio kinda sounding stuck between loading. Other than that excellent!

Jupiter Station - v0.5 by Kyra Sanchez 2022-04-07T02:25:20Z

I love your take on the theme, there is something so inspiring about defenders holding on as long as possible. I also really did the green on black color scheme. Good work!

Candler by SunJet 2022-04-06T19:54:27Z

Hello! I love the cute candle art. I really wanted to save his flame from going out poor thing. Great job making it easy to figure out how to play without complex instructions, that's definitely an asset in game jam games. Idea for future improvement: level variations with larger grids, more hazards, maybe some bonuses.

Happy Blast! by Smash City 2022-04-06T03:22:37Z

This is such a happy game! Smiley face, bouncing up, what could be happier than that! Thanks for making me smile :) Feedback for improvement: polish up the collisions. Nice entry!
