LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Bunnycula by pcmaster 2018-12-11T18:57:57Z

Hah! The deep evil laugh surprised me. That was really cool, at first I thought I had to lure them closer with carrots but then I realized that I could just grab them once they were distracted. I was taking and placing carrots in a chain and stealing them back and placing them further in the chain. hah. Super fun game.

The Cult by mmason 2018-12-12T15:54:58Z

What a great game!! I loved the making-my-own-platforms mechanic. Controls were fun too, I enjoyed bouncing my lil guy around the stages. Seriously super fun.

Sweet Tooth Scribbler by one-seed-fruit 2018-12-12T17:46:45Z

This game was so CUTE i love it. I really wanted to be able to really read what it was writing about me, though - it was tough to read and still feed my scribbler too. I was really hoping it'd show the masterpieces that my scribbler got to write at the end once I lost. Maybe someday! Awesome silly fun job.

Santa Saves Christmas by paulhocker 2018-12-11T18:26:40Z

This was a cool mechanic! It started at level 3 for some reason, and I didn't have to sacrifice any elves, but I had fun grabbing the stuff.

Price of Power by Hilvon 2018-12-11T18:35:10Z

I love card games, really wanted to play this more! But I just... I couldn't wrap my brain around it. I read the tutorial, I read the reviews, but really struggled with understanding what was what. As others said, better-labeling the cards and the play area would help a lot I think. I look forward to giving this another try when it's a bit clearer to understand. :)

Shadow Lands by Mr.MadCat 2018-12-11T18:52:27Z

This is awesome! It felt really good to play and the levels were well-designed. I did get stuck at one point - I shouldn't have gone back to spend the 5 mice to unlock the new area without finishing the area below. I ran out of mice! :D Sound was great, music was great... definitely one of my favorites.

Journey To The Promise Land by royur 2018-12-11T18:44:24Z

Interesting concept, and pretty fun gameplay, like Oregon Trail-ish.I thought the mechanics were definitely really interesting. I was kind of uncomfortable with the really strongly typed men vs women thing, and the "increasing fertility" language on the upgrade screen was ... I guess it could be phrased better. Or, if this were placed more explicitly in a historical context and used like "warriors" vs "caregivers" and "hunters" vs "gatherers" I'd have enjoyed it more.

Bummed OUT! by boyTurnedRobot 2018-12-12T17:38:26Z

Ahhhh so fun! Reminded me a lot of Smash TV which I love. Also, got me in the zone a bit like Binding of Isaac does. Also I laughed out loud when I realized that the people were falling on the left side of my screen - I didn't see them initially! And then the crowd with the "Y A Y" sign - brilliant. Would definitely play a more fleshed-out version of this.

Sacrifice to the Flames by Kovakomes 2018-12-11T19:16:12Z

Cool game! As one reviewer mentioned, I found it difficult to really form any attachment with any of the characters, and I wasn't too sure why you'd show me so many people when I can only ultimately choose 4? It was kind of unbalanced. Or maybe at the end of each room I'm supposed to sacrifice all of them and then see if they can "escape" the sacrifice? In any case, I think there's some really interesting moral questions to explore here.

NO, NOT THE BOOTY! by little-polygon 2018-12-04T00:54:04Z

What a very silly and lovely game. I like the audio and the controls feel really solid. Also, it's called "NO, NOT THE BOOTY!!"

Sacritech by SandLantern 2018-12-04T01:00:20Z

What a beautiful game! The controls are super smooth, the concept is interesting and unique, and it looks and sounds beautiful. I really enjoyed this one. Thanks for making it. :)

This is fine by Antt5053 2018-12-11T18:21:10Z

This one made me laugh. :) I liked the writeups at the end, too.

Lumpy by kevin_g89 2018-12-04T01:38:14Z

HAH, oh my goodness, what a game. I was confused at first, so the first time I discarded my good friend into the lava I laughed out loud. Great concept. It *is* tough to play on a mac, though.

Sacrificed Dimension by Vatigo 2018-12-11T19:10:20Z

Like other reviewers, this kiiiind of reminded me of Fez. And a bit of that one Paper Mario game, too! I like games that challenge my brain like this. :) I did also mostly use the minimap, but it was still quite cool. I'd love to see future iterations that use the 2d mechanic even more in-depth, kind of like how Monument Valley does. There's a ton of potential here.

0.99c by adenwebb 2018-12-04T00:33:15Z

This game was really fun! Made me think of Pulsar: The Lost Colonies + Reigns combined. I like the choose-your-own adventure style, and I liked that you kiiiind of knew what was going to happen when you picked an option, but. you know. did it anyway.

Timmy The Wizard by Jaynerdworld 2018-12-04T00:43:56Z

hah! I kept forgetting that I'm not supposed to shoot aimlessly... -_-

Watching by kristinamay 2018-12-04T01:02:34Z

Hey @bentglasstube thank you! I'm wondering if you could mention a specific point at which that happened? The worst text-to-bg contrast should be black vs blue, so if something's not showing up correctly I might have a bug in there that I could fix. Thanks so much for playing, and for the kind words.

EDIT: nvm, I fixed it I think! I don't think it was reading the transparency of a certain CSS transition correctly. Should be good now.

Watching by kristinamay 2018-12-04T01:33:00Z

@dwam Thanks. Yeah, perhaps someday when I have more time I'll flesh it out some more. Thanks so much for playing!

Watching by kristinamay 2018-12-12T13:31:12Z

@antt5053 @hilvon @fireslash @quasar47 thanks for the feedback! the black text over black background shouldn't happen - it might be an issue with certain browsers or platforms (I tested with Chrome and Safari on a mac, but that's it O_O ). And, yeah, I'd love to incorporate more choice and more branches in future iterations of the game when I have more time and i'm not using Jam weekend to learn a whole new platform. :D Thanks so much for your feedback!!

For You by FireBug 2018-12-12T17:55:25Z

This was a great game! I'm glad to see a fellow text-based-game-maker in this game jam. :) Lovely writing, I liked how the theme was woven in subtly to the story, and I super appreciated the ending which for me was kind of a surprise ending? Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention. In any case, very cool.

Memento Morty by okuar 2018-12-04T01:43:03Z

Super fun puzzle game! Quite difficult, too.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Invest® by thristhart 2019-05-19T13:20:54Z

I really liked this story and was impressed with how extensive the story was! I really wanted to be able to follow up with new leads with other folks, i.e. go talk to the couple arguing again after I talked to the woman at the mansion about her "what's a life worth" weirdness. I *think* I beat the game successfully but I was left unsure at the end because it didn't actually tell me if I got the q's right or not. I really like that framing of the end of a mystery, though, with the "oh yeah you solved it? answer these questions then." it worked well.

Bloody Runner by DidiGameBoy 2019-04-30T14:08:20Z

This was cool! I found it really difficult to distinguish between what was blood and what was bad. For example, I thought the little jars were jars of blood for a bit before I realized they were holy water. :face_palm:

Blood Currency by theviraldragon 2019-04-29T01:58:28Z

Hey! What tool did you use to make this game? I went to go look at your source code but your link doesn't work. :( It was really cool!

Drytown by DavidPIxel 2019-04-30T14:35:36Z

This was really, really, really good. I almost forgot I was playing an LD game. The story was great, the 1bit art was fantastic (seriously, I do a lot of pixel art and I'm really jealous of this art style), the music was simultaneously whimsical and menacing, and it was all wrapped up in a nice neat little bow. Def the best LD game I've played so far. What engine/tools did you use to make this?

Dr. Ectomy by BoxedMeatRevolution 2019-04-30T14:47:43Z

THIS WAS SO FUN. I love puzzle games, I don't see enough of them in LD I feel like. Thanks so much for making it, would love to play more of it.

Robber & Robert by LiquidBrain 2019-04-30T14:05:57Z

Hhahahahahaha thank you so much for creating this game. It's so absurd and lovely.

HeartLess by cdunham 2019-05-19T15:18:22Z

Really fun! I'm usually not too into card games on here, but this one was challenging yet easy to pick up.

Remember by JoshyOshKenoshi 2019-05-19T14:41:35Z

This was really wonderful, and I'm glad to see someone else doing text-based games. :) I'm really curious to know more about how you used Unity to create this - do you have any resources you could share?

Demonidle by carlosvVk 2019-04-30T13:57:26Z

Hah. I'm not a huge fan of clickers/idle games but this was fun. :)

[SHIP-WRE-KT] by webthingee 2019-04-30T14:18:49Z

It seemed like there was basically no way to get past linking with the other robot without dying, unless I shouldn't have even gone into that room in the first place? I really liked the concept of this game, though, and the music was actually really excellent.

Survive the Heist by Ashtrail 2019-05-19T14:12:25Z

I don't feel bad about escaping through the basement. Sorry, everyone else.

S.A.S.S. by mcovert 2019-05-19T14:49:19Z

Really cool, and the graphics (and typeface) are beautiful.

Plant-iverse by coatline 2019-05-19T15:11:39Z

This is really cool! Also, zooming around in a little spaceship was very fun.

Vampire Escape by Copito 2019-05-19T14:26:12Z

This was super fun! I was confused by it for a bit but once I understood it I got really into it. It reminded me of a game whose name I can't quite remember... but you recruit your party from a bar and go as far as you can into the dungeon with it, and when you're back you can upgrade your bar and get better party members. Anyway, this was impressive!

The Million Dollars Insurance by Tigeryue 2019-05-19T14:00:11Z

I loved this game so much. So silly, kinda tough, you had me googling chemical formulas for different poisons so if I get put on a list it's y'alls fault. :)

Blood Money by kristinamay 2019-04-30T14:37:15Z

@jharler yes! I was trying to figure out how to get the options to re-appear, but was unable to do so. Thanks for playing and giving feedback, hopefully I can figure out how to do that for future chapters. :) (PS, there is another ending! Just... be grumpier.)

Blood Money by kristinamay 2019-04-30T16:42:52Z

@eliphas ah I can see that! I was thinking about a lot of different futuristic sci-fi when I wrote it. Definitely feels a bit like "Fifteen Million Merits," also thought about the RPG game "Paranoia" as I was writing it, too.

Blood Money by kristinamay 2019-05-19T14:16:32Z

@datagreed @joshyoshkenoshi Yeah, I have yet to figure out how to wrangle Squiffy into doing that. If I use it again for next LD I'll definitely figure it out, because it's definitely confusing. In any case, thanks for playing!

100 leaves by neverix 2019-04-30T13:51:51Z

This was kinda funny - I liked the hand-written directions + the comic intro. I found the controls to be so weird, felt almost QWOP-like to me. Couldn't get my brain around it.

BULLSHIT NEW WORLD by LORD OF 2077 2019-05-19T15:27:31Z

I really wanted to keep playing this, it was SO UP MY ALLEY, but I think something I needed to interact with was cut off, I found both halves of the book but there were no desks I could click on (I'm playing on a macbook). In any case, I hope to see some bug fixes because I'd love to play more!

Dictator's Last Year by lesinvisible 2019-05-19T13:04:58Z

I liked this - I liked the music and I liked the narrative. Hooray, fellow text-based games!

Desk Job Simulator pt.1: My boss probably has a coke problem by sumoworks 2019-05-19T13:31:14Z

LOL this is extremely silly. I love the animation.

Time Demand by TwobyThree 2019-05-19T15:31:16Z

This is cute as hell. I love the music and I love the art style. It's silly but it works.

How I Became a Cyborg by Elsper 2019-05-19T15:02:31Z

This is really great! It tickles just the right parts of my brain and I played it for quite a while. Good job!

LD45 — Start with nothing

Unwritten by HitchH1k3r 2019-10-29T16:46:54Z

This is a reallly good idea, I really like it. I'd love to have some sounds, too, but I'd totally play a more polished and fleshed out version of it.

Peak Performance by mmason 2019-10-29T16:18:31Z

I thiiiink I understood what was happening, but having some kind of counter collector would be helpful. Otherwise it was a very cool and stylish game!

Nothing Box by guckstift 2019-10-23T19:33:08Z

This was so cool! I really loved the progression and the exploration, only frustrating bit was that I accidentally built SO MANY RAFTS in little one-square bits of water.

Start with Nothing, End with Nothing. by Ongomato 2019-10-29T16:07:23Z

This game is so cool! A great puzzle and very interesting concept, I had fun with it.

Nothing Matters by kazuo256 2019-10-29T15:29:40Z

Super challenging and innovative, I really liked this!!

Life with Words by Chaosinism 2019-10-07T15:55:44Z

LOL, I didn't realize that you could use a space bar to detach letters. :D I'm gonna go back in and try again.

Life with Words by Chaosinism 2019-10-07T15:58:56Z

OKAY second time's a charm. THIS GAME IS AWESOME, I love word games and it was so fun zooming around waiting for your the letter I really wanted. So much replay value, too. So good!!!

Unwatered by bazld 2019-10-23T18:18:59Z

Super fun!! Also, BLAM I beat level 4 and felt so smart for it. 5th level was a bit disappointing after how much fun the 4th was. In any case, this was super fun and I'd gladly play more levels of this.

Amor Fati by starvingindie 2019-10-07T16:02:47Z

Lovely is the word! Was confused at first but appreciated how the mechanics did their own explaining.

Tower of Minos by Bernhard 2019-10-23T18:06:53Z

Really fun and inventive! I definitely liked that it told me that I would get new abilities at certain levels - it made me want to try harder to get to them. Also, that feeling when you're about to get smashed by a block so you sprint out of the way.... into a deep chasm that you can't climb out of. :face_palm:

Start 95 by kromeboy 2019-10-07T16:46:49Z

LOL I didn't get the pun in the name until I read another commenter pointing it out. Great game.

Shuǐmòhuà by olddadou 2019-10-29T16:30:25Z

Suuuuuuuuuch cool vibes!! Loved experimenting with the different shapes. I'd love to play more of this.

HiddenThings by Talia 2019-10-07T15:41:32Z

I really like this! It's so... chill. It takes the thing I love most about like... Civilization (uncovering the map!) and turns it into a game itself. I would totally play more of this.

HiddenThings by Talia 2019-10-07T15:43:01Z

(wanted to add that I literally kept your game running in the background because I liked the music so much!)

Conception by ToxicComputer 2019-10-29T16:22:10Z

Very cool idea! I would love to see it expanded in the future. :)

Snow Country For Cold Men by Brandon Anderson 2019-10-29T16:34:38Z

Remember that pikachu skateboarding game from like, 2001? This is that. <3 Very silly and fun.

Tardigrades on the Moon by bassguitarbill 2019-10-29T14:58:51Z

I liked the music, very chill.

KOLENdor by MaxKlimenok 2019-10-23T17:55:17Z

What a cool game! I made it pretty far before dying. I loved the descriptions of the different tiles - it felt like they gave me a hint about which areas I should visit if a certain stat was low. I also liked that it wasn't just blind clicking - I had to actually read the descriptions to figure out which choice was the best one to pick. Really, really awesome.

Hoarder's Paradise by Scott Steffes 2019-10-29T15:07:29Z

LOL this was so funny. I was so good at it though, prob because of all of my cats.

Bonker Droids by NorthernDevGuy 2019-10-29T14:54:39Z

I got a chainsaw, so, obviously this was super fun.

Slinger by Bungalow 2019-10-23T19:18:40Z

Very cool game!! Really impressive platforming, I had to stop playing because my hands hurt. Making it through certain parts of the game gave me the same satisfaction that Celeste gives me when I beat a particularly hard part of the game. :)

Deliv' 51 by Larnin 2019-10-23T18:11:15Z

This was a cool game! I got a bit frustrated when I got cornered by an alien, stuck to the wall, and I couldn't move forwards or backwards at all, so I was just... stuck. And another one showed up and joined in on the stuckedness, and then I just had to wait out my timer until my brain exploded. THAT BEING SAID, A+ aesthetic. Got some Escape from New York vibes or something going on.

Aphantasia by kristinamay 2019-10-07T17:00:28Z

@antti-haavikko as a fellow Mac user, I feel the pain of seeing a game that looks SO COOL and then not being able to play. :-) I had to get someone else to test my windows version to make sure it worked!

And, thanks for sharing those screenshots. I wanted to implement a scoring system that penalized you for adding a bunch of extraneous weird things but honestly it's a miracle I got scoring working at all!

@simxple @pythooonuser thanks for the feedback. The idea was that it would be tough to follow along and still grab the right items - that's why I made them verbally backtrack occasionally, but I'm sure I didn't find the right balance. I appreciate the feedback!

Aphantasia by kristinamay 2019-10-07T17:12:04Z

@antti-haavikko Definitely noted. It took me until about 2 hours before the compo was over to get everything working for the first level, and then I had to hurry up and write the second two chapters and get them working as fast as I could. I wanted to move the levels around but I was too scared about breaking everything. Thanks for the feedback.

Aphantasia by kristinamay 2019-10-23T18:02:03Z

@shrapx wow, thank you so much for playing my game!! Was really cool watching you play through it. :)

Aphantasia by kristinamay 2019-10-24T14:54:24Z

@gentel yeah, good thought. I was going to implement a static order on the canvas so that whenever you dragged things over, they'd appear in the right order. I decided against it ultimately because I felt that it was too easy that way - I wanted to introduce some time pressure of some sort, which is why I also had the dialogue introduce elements in the "wrong" order. Perhaps it ended up more tedious than challenging, but in any case, I appreciate the feedback!

Filibuster by scott.redrup 2019-10-07T17:06:05Z

This game literally made me laugh out loud.

Something Special by SKDF 2019-10-29T16:32:48Z

Very cool puzzles! It feels properly balanced too, and I loved the colors at the ends of hte levels.

Dead Again by Joe Bustamante 2019-10-29T14:52:25Z

SO DIFFICULT. :)

2D PLATFORMER EXE by GabrielGameDev 2019-10-07T16:16:58Z

Start With Rain by Piturnah 2019-10-07T16:30:39Z

me, covering the whole world with water: "HAVE I GONE TOO FAR?!?! Won't somebody think of the TRIBESMEN!?"

(great game.)

The Mystery Box by W0lfEnstein 2019-10-07T16:53:07Z

I can't get past the first bit! I know that I need 4 numbers, I have 4 numbers, but I can't figure out what order to type them in. :( I love games like this though so I will KEEP GOING

The Mystery Box by W0lfEnstein 2019-10-07T17:01:31Z

(really though can I have a hint, I'm losing my mind here.)

The Mystery Box by W0lfEnstein 2019-10-07T17:28:26Z

Ah great! I swear I tried that exact thing so many times, but once I refreshed the page and tried again with new numbers, it worked. Thanks, gonna keep playing now. :D

Monochromacy by ItsHornUnicorn 2019-10-07T17:16:04Z

Very cool game!

Clothes On My Back, Things In The Sack by MaxyMax 2019-10-23T19:23:50Z

Def loved the "I escaped the cops" chuckle. Fun game. :)

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T15:08:43Z

Popping in as a mac tester - It does run! I did find that I couldn't figure out how to put down the stapler, and then when I clicked the stapler enough it started shooting out bottles of soda and ice cream cones. So... I don't know how far I can get into the game but I absolutely LOVE the humor and the setting and the music. So impressed, I wish I could get it to work better!

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T15:20:17Z

@polyethyleneglykol I actually was able to play through it anyway - I found that when I switch locations it automatically drops items. Which is good, because I carried that donut around for WAY too long. THIS WAS SO COOL, I love detective games and mysteries and point-and-clicks, and I'm so amazed that you made this in two days. Definitely my favorite LD game I've played.

Finding fun by ZMVL 2019-10-07T16:35:25Z

Is that... the game? That we tried to find fun and there's nothing there? :D (the game isn't published yet I don't think.)

Emoji Overflow by laegoose 2019-10-07T15:48:57Z

Funny concept, fun tower defense game, and I don't typically play these kinds of games!

JOURNEY TO NOWHERE by dannyli0109 2019-10-29T15:18:08Z

This is fun! I saw people mentioning that there's an ending, but I've been playing for 20 minutes and am level 16 and there are no endings yet..... I'll KEEP LOOKING

A bard's Journey by Kanonix 2019-10-07T15:34:26Z

This was so fun! At first I was like, "oh this is so easy, whatever" but you kept introducing mechanics that made it tougher and tougher. I share the criticism about rhythm not really feeling... rhythmic? but I loved the mean fan "bosses" and the bombs were a nice touch. I was surprised to lose though, I didn't realize that I'd lose when I still had like 6 fans left. Also, sometimes the music note would be to the left of the staff when the staff moved right for a boss, and I missed the note through no fault of my own.

All that to say, this is really great! Does it have an end that I wasn't good enough to get to? :D

Spit warior by BRTEK007 2019-10-07T15:00:32Z

This is pretty fun! I also wish the textbar would disappear, because it felt like I was missing part of the screen. The beginning reminded me of evoland and the charging spit reminded me of the binding of isaac. :) definitely on-theme!

I fully didn't understand until I saw @justinooncx 's comment up there. I was like, "how am I progressing to the next level?" But once I got it, it was super cool. I like it.

The Desert of Nothingness by Douwe_Ravers 2019-10-07T16:19:19Z

Hey great job on your first LD! Impressively detailed, I found it a bit tough to figure out how to not fail but I like the concept a lot and the art is cute too. :)

The Journey of Life by mortalfosca 2019-10-07T15:51:40Z

This was fun! I made text-based games for my last two game jams, and I definitely recommend checking out Squiffy, it's a great tool for making games like this. Always happy to see more text-based games in LD!

SO CONFUSED.

Flatmates from Hell by Paulius 2019-10-07T16:40:38Z

AAaaahhh this was so stressful! I didn't know a typing game could stress me out so much! :D

The Darkness by Iconocatstudio 2019-10-07T17:26:29Z

This was such a good game! Great graphics, sound effects, and the lightning was a great mechanic.

RoadOut by Gustavo Rocha 2019-10-07T16:21:19Z

I don't have a windows machine and this is the first time I've been TRULY disappointed that I can't play an LD game - the art style is *fantastic* and the concept seems awesome.

SO STRESSFUL. A+. Love it.

A Letter To Ed by zoglu 2020-05-12T04:24:29Z

I LOVE THIS GAME.

Seriously. You combined my love for investigation, my love for text-based games, and an actual challenging mystery! The atmosphere was wonderful, the controls were great, and the handwritten letters were amazing. I didn't use the hint system at all, either. :) I'm truly so impressed and I'd love to play more games like this from y'all. This is easily my favorite game that I've played this LD. Thank you for making it.

Little Sunshine by Bloham 2020-05-12T03:42:35Z

This is really impressive for your first game!! I liked trying to balance the rain and sun and killing the flies. I did die from drowning even though my flower was DEMANDING more water. I dunno if it was a bug or if i misunderstood the game.

Croze's Moving Castle by croze 2020-05-12T02:32:25Z

This game has a really beautiful look to it!

Vaccinator by niterich 2020-05-12T02:41:48Z

It was fun zooming around, and I liked the music. I couldn't quite figure out what I was supposed to shoot at... but I did like flying. I think I just shot a bunch of organs instead. :grimacing:

FabrikatrCorp by Beard or Die 2020-04-21T03:52:44Z

LOL I love this. Wonderful writing. Love that you renamed your game a "slide deck." Truly appreciate the creativity.

Wordbound by SpaceGuy99 2020-05-12T03:52:18Z

Oh no! I wanted to play this so much (it looks right up my alley!) and there's no mac build. Could you please make a mac/html5 build? :D :D :D

Deal With Those Papers by MoweMax 2020-05-12T03:02:35Z

LOL what a silly game. I chuckled when I turned on the AC. I also absolutely loved that I could just fill up all the garbage cans.

Crossroads by gamebuilder 2020-05-12T02:50:30Z

What a great game!! I loved the method of navigating and I liked that it was all keyboard-based so I could easily play it on my laptop. I actually feel quite inspired to play around with this format for my own games.

My inners are ours by AguaHervida 2020-05-12T04:11:12Z

This is a great concept!! I did find that it was helpful to switch characters occasionally and also found that it was bruuuutal to need to keep restarting. :) But I love the art. Great work.

The Dragon's Curse by Aditya Kumar 2020-04-21T02:50:28Z

I liked this! I didn't realize that I had to gather everything BEFORE i got to the castle, so I accidentally got there by the quickest route and he yelled at me and my baby dragon (??) died. Thanks for the game, love seeing a fellow narrative-structure-focused game maker!!

Neighbor - a spooky pixel adventure by kristinamay 2020-04-21T03:30:30Z

Hey @liam-binford @james-kusardi try downloading the game instead of playing the web version. I'm going to take the web version down for now until I can figure out why the first bits of text are messed up.

Neighbor - a spooky pixel adventure by kristinamay 2020-04-21T03:47:55Z

@guardaro @vignesh-raj thank you for the spot!! I fixed the text rendering issues and fixed the Mike issue while I was in there. :-) Thank you so much for playing, all.

Grow by TerribleTrioJoe 2020-04-21T03:29:06Z

This is such a cute puzzle platformer. I'd love to see more of it. The controls were really straightforward. GREAT JOB ON YOUR FIRST GAME JAM!!!

Space Junk by Nick Biglin 2020-05-12T03:09:03Z

I loved this. It was funny, the dialogue was good, and the gameplay itself was great. I like that it was tied to the music. I felt so chill moving my ship up and down until I blew up :(

Tepkluth and the scared one by Achiliuus 2020-05-12T03:33:14Z

I couldn't quite figure out how to play this. But it was very beautiful and I liked the music, too!

u died by arcayn 2020-05-12T03:38:49Z

I love text adventures! My first LD game was also a text adventure with some quirks in how text displayed. :) Yours was much more impressive, though  even though the platforming bits were super tough.

DodoSavior by grtodaro 2020-05-12T02:58:58Z

LOL this game was funny. I liked it. Very creative and satisfying to play. I killed so many dodos tho :(

House Party! by HyperBabyDuck 2020-04-21T03:21:57Z

Hey, this game looks awesome - very polished - but I can't figure out how to interact with it? Any tips? I'd love to play!

♡thump-thump♡ by anystarabove 2020-04-21T04:06:46Z

I liked the construction of this game. I think maybe the problem is that when you try to use two arrow keys at once, it only detects one, thus it feels delayed? Regardless, it's a clever and inventive game. Great job.

Blooming with You by Junebug 2020-04-21T04:11:25Z

Love this. Very polished, simple and engrossing. Great job.

Flicker by sunday_driver 2020-04-21T03:13:18Z

Super cool! I'm going to play this again when i'm not on my laptop. Being able to shoot yourself in the air so far was wonderful. Like the previous commenter, I also couldn't figure out how the checkpoint worked, so I kept getting sent back to the beginning. :( But other than that, great work!

Keep the Unicorn Alive! by ShanePatSmith 2020-04-21T03:19:02Z

Hahaha, this game is so silly. I didn't read the instructions and I thought that I was the bonkers poacher guy for a hot second. :face_palm: My poor unicorn!!

Véia Defense: Aliens Attack by Arthur Silva 2020-05-12T02:54:21Z

I liked this game!! The graphics were lovely and I liked the music too. One small bit of feedback I have is that the attack felt kind of ... muddy? The distance at which I had to stand in order to successfully attack felt a bit unclear. Overall though I definitely enjoyed it. :)

Don't Kill My Electronic Pet While I'm Away. by Camzen 2020-05-12T03:30:45Z

I love this <3 the number of poops is true to life for what I remember about these little guys. :grimacing:

Foamliness by Vignesh Raj 2020-05-12T03:20:35Z

This game feels SO much better than LD platformers typically do. I also liked the mechanic of the soap getting smaller, and that sometimes being an advantage! Seriously, really well-done. Also very tough. There were certain points where I'm pretty sure there was no way for me to avoid touching the germs? But in any case, great work.

Block Pusher by Pixipit 2020-04-21T02:44:11Z

This game is not easy to play with a touchpad  but it executes its idea well!!

Little Shop of Wall Street by davidwesst 2020-05-12T03:25:34Z

I liked this game. I especially liked the dialogue. Well, "dialogue"? The text in the game. And the plant just hanging out and family members mysteriously going missing... hah. It was a bit confusing at first because I thought that a low number was *good* for plant hunger... and then I found out. :D

Fatter by axeltherabbit 2020-05-12T04:01:06Z

I... i don't have anything to say. Great sound effects. I love the big scary broccolis. I just chuckled the whole time.

Polish Python by rufson 2020-04-21T03:55:52Z

I am obsessed with this game's aesthetic. Truly f'ing great. Thank you so much.

Kaze No Kami by ssh.randy 2020-04-21T03:16:52Z

Super cool! For some reason I felt a little bit like I was playing that old version of Sim City where you can press the buttons to wreak havoc on your city. :) Would love to see more detail in this eventually because it was chill and fun to play.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

The Meaning of Life Is by AfroAnt 2021-04-26T13:32:23Z

Wow, man. This game is really good. SO inventive, really fun, occasionally silly. I loved the concept and had a lot of fun playing to the end. Definitely my favorite LD game so far. It's simple but really well-executed and the sound effects are great. Did you make the font yourself? I like that, too! I also really liked the ending. Great work.

My Friend John by kassanu 2021-04-26T14:38:41Z

This is a cool concept! I'd love to see it explored a bit further, like seeing relationships deteriorate when you use the wrong messages, and having fewer "right" messages to choose from. Very original. Great work.

Seven Sleepy Nights by Osterzone 2021-04-26T14:32:15Z

Retro-chic, indeed. This is great - I like that you add in new things to make life harder for Chuck. And for me. These kinds of games stress me out and I am not very coordinated but I appreciate that this game is polished, a bit funny, and generally well-made.

Codename::GreyHat by Train27 2021-04-26T15:26:05Z

It looks like there's a web version, is there any way you can make it playable on your itch.io page? I'd love to give this a go, I love "hacking" and detective games!

SPEKS - A Murder Mystery by Swordfish 2021-04-26T03:03:48Z

This game is so cool! I really wish I could get the intro text to move faster, but I had a lot of fun playing it.

Cut Deeper by Filipe Leal 2021-04-26T03:23:06Z

Hah! Have you ever played Kirby Super Star? This reminded me a lot of the Samurai Kirby game, but... grosser, and with better sound effects. Super unique take on the theme.

The Falling Knight V.S the Endless Pit of Dark Despair by ilPrinny 2021-04-26T20:38:26Z

Wooooof, this is hard! But so well-designed and has a surprisingly amount of depth (only some pun intended) for a jam game. I like the music and the sound effects a lot, and the gameplay feels very original. Really great work.

Forge Dig Forge by MoLa0404 2021-04-26T13:19:49Z

This sounds fun, I'm commenting so that I might find out once it's fixed so I can give it a try. :D

Submergence by TomekS 2021-04-26T03:43:22Z

This game looks lovely and I'd really like to play it, but I can't figure out how to control my vessel. No matter what I press, I just fall straight down to my doom.

Lava Runner by ShaggyFox 2021-04-26T15:23:09Z

This was very cool! When I saw the lava following me down my little dug hole I was like "OH NO" - do the green crystals do anything? Also, I didn't quite make it to 30 crystals because I kept getting frustrated that the scrolling wasn't following down fast enough for my little digger. This feels polished, well done!

Conspiracy Dive by wizard sino 2021-04-26T14:05:48Z

I love point and click games and I love conspiracies! Silly and fun.

Trek Through Billy by dk5000p 2021-04-26T20:31:57Z

Spoilers: hey, that heart monster wasn't all that bad, was he?!

It came out of space by Suchista 2021-04-26T20:29:32Z

Very cool! Love the lovecraftian vibe, music was great, game was v spooky. The first big blob I killed I was like "Yeah, I did it, I got the boss!" Lol, nope. I also LOVE the swirled trees.

Outer by kristinamay 2021-04-26T03:30:40Z

@thatmanrobin That crash has been happening extremely rarely - I can't figure out why, so I can't debug it! How far into the game were you?

Outer by kristinamay 2021-04-26T11:13:20Z

Hey @thatmanrobin @choppers @sonicpixelation thank you for the bug report. I made a very small bug fix that I think solved the problem - the code checking to change the cursor on hover was still trying to loop through the items once they weren't being rendered anymore, so it was attempting comparisons on nothing. Could you do me a huge favor and re-download from itch and let me know if you're still experiencing the error? I've poked around a lot and can't trigger it, so it *should* be good? And thank you for playing the game!

Outer by kristinamay 2021-04-26T20:17:08Z

@swordfish Thanks for letting me know. I knew the culprit code but thought I'd fixed it... I went ahead and just ripped out the code that added in the different cursor on hover, so if it's not fixed now, then I'll just throw my laptop out the window.

Outer by kristinamay 2021-04-27T13:25:24Z

@styrofoamwaffle I keep doing this to myself, I start making a game and realize that Love is the worst tool for it but then I'm too far in. thanks for the feedback :)

Outer by kristinamay 2021-04-28T14:08:05Z

@jaybaus thank you!! And @duncan-3 what a MONSTER. :P

Deepwater Settlement by Pincushion 2021-04-26T14:27:45Z

Very cool concept, like an underwater tower defense sorta thing. I didn't make it very far before I ran out of food, and I was always short on plastic! But I could see this growing into a really legit game. Nice work.

Sleepwalker by Duncan 3 2021-04-26T03:12:53Z

This is such a cool mechanic and the puzzles are great. I also got stuck on level 3, but only because I... you know, couldn't figure out the puzzle. O_O

The Ancient Key by jaybaus 2021-04-26T14:16:24Z

Oh HELL yes. I think we have pretty similar senses of humor, this was fantastic. First time I've ever seen an FMV game in Ludum Dare. Spoilers: do you ever stop me from sleeping with the ghost? because I did it a few times just to see if I could. And then I laughed a lot at "spooky passion." Genuinely really fun, great work.

Hellivator by Billnotic 2021-04-26T13:56:23Z

Wow! This is really impressive and fun. I liked the floating help text a lot. I was so laser focused on this game (I'm a terraria addict so it really spoke to me  ) that I said "awww" out loud when the game was over. I loved needing to prioritize which ores I could collect so that I could upgrade my storage so I could get more ores. The combat and movement are really impressive for such a short time period, too. shooting the bats was fun. I loved the last level, where I was running around frantically trying to find the right ore, clicking on ore to toss it, and jumping around to avoid the bat fires. Genuinely super fun. Great job.

Duskwood by Voidsay 2021-04-26T15:16:07Z

I tried this but when I heard the first scary noise I panic-turned it off. So, I guess it worked? I get so scared so easily :grimacing: lol great work.

Deeper Learning by NachoLR 2021-04-28T15:00:18Z

This is PRECISELY my type of game. But I'm really stuck on trying to solve Kym's number puzzle. I'm either missing something really obvious or my game isn't working? But probably the former. I love the concept though.

Deeper Into The Forest by SnappyPath 2021-04-26T15:11:34Z

This was cool! I kept waiting for it to get more challenging, though.

Rootss by antonishig 2021-04-26T13:24:04Z

This game seems like it has a lot of promise, but I was unable to figure out how to get the root to split. I clicked and dragged, and it turned green, but didn't seem to do anything. Also, when you click into the Help menu, you get stuck and need to restart the game to play. I'd love to play this more if I can figure it out, I like the music! Very minimal and chill.

Solar Winds by bkelly 2021-04-26T13:18:12Z

This is a very cool concept - needing to adjust for the ping delay in my head as I watch my lil guy run around is challenging. At first, I didn't realize that was why it was delayed, until I, you know, read the text. I think it'd be cool if the controls on mobile were a bit bigger so that I could watch my computer screen while I press the buttons on my phone. I kept fat-fingering them and needing to look down to press the right one. The sound effects are great, also!

Diving Festival by ultrashel 2021-04-26T14:22:08Z

This was fun - at first I was a bit confused about which direction I was supposed to go when a hazard came up, but I got the hang of it. My record was 38.7. Nice work!

Hypnotic Plunge by WizKid 2021-04-26T03:26:45Z

Dig Deep Get Gold by Tim77 2021-04-26T03:29:45Z

Mind Dive by LitmusZest 2021-04-26T03:17:56Z

I like that the person above me said this was relaxing, because I found myself so stressed! I found a green blob, but by that point my sanity was already almost gone with no end in sight. I like the music!

Wow nobody better ever let me drive a cargo hovership. :scream: (love this!)

Unstabally World by Holy 2021-10-19T15:17:15Z

This is SUCH a cool mechanic! The controls feel a bit weird but with some fine-tuning I think this could be a really great game. I did somehow manage to fall through the floor though. Was just listening to some cool music and ...falling forever. Weirdly peaceful. Screen Shot 2021-10-19 at 11.15.41 AM.png

Space Repair by Abdul Zakkar 2021-10-19T15:09:54Z

I like this! the controls felt really good for a jam game.

GONZO ALCHEMY! by kristinamay 2021-10-04T17:33:31Z

@zarkonnen What's mystifying? I can update the instructions perhaps if I knew more about what was unclear. Thank you for playing!

GONZO ALCHEMY! by kristinamay 2021-10-04T18:58:02Z

@dekajoo you're totally right - they could have been, EXCEPT! I made the mistake of making a point-and-click with Love2D which does not handle mouse click positioning very elegantly at all, so I figured I'd be able to do a lot more and make it less buggy with keyboard controls instead. I suppose it was less successful than I'd hoped. thanks for playing though!

GONZO ALCHEMY! by kristinamay 2021-10-20T16:52:11Z

@fabula-rasa wow - thanks so much for going through and taking all those notes and playing the game so much! I appreciate the detailed feedback. I'd be so curious to see your page of notes - you've probably played it more than anyone else (including me?? perils of a game jam :P ). How many potions did you discover? And yeah I didn't have time to fully implement for sale - I had a whole monetary system where customers would sell you ingredients and stuff but I had to pull most of it out when I was down to the wire. Again - I appreciate your giving it such a thorough go. I spent so much time writing all of it, so this makes me really happy.

GONZO ALCHEMY! by kristinamay 2021-10-20T16:54:55Z

Also, if anyone's interested in seeing more details about the potions and ingredients that you didn't get to, you can always just read all the info in [this file](https://github.com/kristinalustig/ld49/blob/main/gameContent.lua).

Last Mile by kurrik 2021-10-04T19:03:23Z

I like the music and the art! The controls feel really finnicky though, and it didn't run very smoothly on my computer. Could be my fault! I like the concept, I was going to go in a similar direction with my game, except the delivery is pizzas. :)

Wonky Brew by civmaniac 2021-10-19T15:28:48Z

This game was so cute! I liked the art and it was fun to run around like a madwoman trying to get all the stuff. I was really bad at it but that's okay! I like the attention to detail, and I love Fluffy.

10 minutes to instability by José Bonilla 2021-10-19T15:43:05Z

This was so fun! I felt stressed out. I didn't realize at first that I had to refresh the email so I was sitting there like "Where are my emails! I've been doing such a good job with the antenna!" And then I had like 10 emails lol. Great work.

Oopsie Potion by CodeRaurus 2021-10-19T15:11:58Z

Ah, I liked this one! Love the pixel art and the blooping goo was somehow kind of cute? Good job :)

Unstable cars by StefGrizzly 2021-10-04T18:47:26Z

Cool game, fun as well! I kept running into an issue with the leaderboard where I'd try to enter my name, but then it'd immediately skip to the next level.

Ropy Woply Doo by Jackaljk 2021-10-19T15:59:26Z

I laughed out loud at the music. The balancing felt really good too! Felt like I was grinding a rail in a tony hawk game or something.

Mine 49 by bkelly 2021-10-19T14:59:38Z

Finally got to play your game! I like the music a lot. I wasn't sure why stuff kept collapsing though, it seemed like I didn't have any kind of issue and then all of a sudden it was game over.

Waitin' Satan by awfindlay 2021-10-04T18:35:00Z

Wonderful art and music but oh my goodness this was so difficult. Could not even walk like 10 feet without dropping my entire sandwich -_-

Noinun40 by Itzemii 2021-10-19T15:32:56Z

I had the same anti-match-3 idea! I didn't end up doing it, though. I was confused at first about how it worked, but once I got the hang of it I liked this a lot. Great work.

The Unstable Castle by Santerk 2021-10-04T18:55:54Z

This is a very cool concept, but after a bit I realized that I actually... couldn't lose? Like, I spent a while just hanging out and trying to stand on fire bricks and such, and I just kept standing there. Would love to see this fleshed out!

Ouch! by Gabriel Chan 2021-10-04T19:16:03Z

This game was so good! Definitely the best one I've played so far. I had so much fun getting 3 stars on every level. Really impressed with this one.

Click For Living by d3w 2021-10-04T18:26:02Z

This game was really interesting! My main issue was that I wasn't sure what the various things did and how I was supposed to use them. So I didn't quite understand what I needed to balance. Also I felt really bad when my animals kept just keeling over immediately. But the music was chill and the controls were straightforward!

Vice - Ludum Dare49 by Truedat 2021-10-19T15:20:52Z

I love love love love the vibe. Such good pixel art.

Walking on thin ice by greenphox 2021-10-04T18:40:54Z

What a fun puzzle game - the level design was great (agree with the comment above) and some of the levels were legitimately pretty difficult. I loved this and would definitely play more levels if they were available. Great work.

Script 49 by Text Sharp 2021-10-19T15:52:41Z

I really wanted to play this and I couldn't actually figure out how to do anything. Which is too bad because I think it's a coding game and that is my JAM. Let me know if you put out more detailed instructions so I can actually give this a proper go.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Apartheid by Jungle 2022-04-05T20:06:41Z

Beautiful art - a small but really well-executed game. I've really liked, as I've been playing these games, how frequently keeping the theme in mind is casting a bleak shadow over the game itself. Thanks for making this, really impressive compo game.

Try Again by Flaterectomy 2022-04-05T17:14:11Z

Love seeing text adventures show up in LD! Dystopian, too? Lovely. I particularly liked "Feel like shit, smell like shit." What a life motto.

Loop by makio64 2022-04-05T18:20:38Z

What a gorgeous game! I have a question: sometimes I'd just randomly... die? turn into a lil green swirl? Am I not allowed to fall very far? I kept drawing myself sweet ramps to launch off of but then it killed me (even though I didn't fall off the screen). Anyway, really beautiful and it feels so well-polished.

You will become a vampire. by digitaldude555 2022-04-05T15:05:44Z

I like the art! I was kind of confused about what I was really supposed to be doing, even after reading the instructions. I did wander around and fight some people though. Nice work on an innovative idea! BTW, I think it's fine to fix a game-breaking bug like not being able to see the exit on-screen, even after the jam is over. Just mention it in your description and perhaps save the jam version as well if folks want to judge on only that, and not the fixed version.

The Dimmest Dungeon by doomshmuck 2022-04-05T16:37:45Z

I really like the core mechanic here of the lights being your ammo and your health (I think?) But goodness gracious jumping up platforms required the kind of dexterity that I just don't have, lol. I beat Celeste but was defeated by Dimmest Dungeon. I know one of the mashed up tunes was the dungeon theme from Mario, I don't know the other one though! Anyway, great work!

Dating under the Comet by Joscco 2022-04-05T20:46:03Z

I loved this game! Once I figured out what I was going I enjoyed getting buff and buying presents for Umair. Also the music is a jaaaam. Great work. :)

Outside the Town of Malbork by kemp 2022-04-05T21:07:27Z

I got a bit confused playing this, but what I could figure out I liked. I like the atmosphere and the writing is great. Music is also very chill. Now, time for me to go through it again and think much harder...

Crisis Chef: 28 Plates Later by simba 2022-04-05T14:36:51Z

What a fun and unique take on this genre! I absolutely loved that I could like, carry a burger into the dining room and fire off my shotgun at the same time. Felt so powerful. Great work!

The 13th Colony by kristinamay 2022-04-05T15:55:02Z

@michaell Yep - I made all the art and music and writing and bkelly made the code.

@--0 That's so weird - I haven't been able to repro that bug. Could you outline specific steps that you take to repro the bug? Does it happen reliably?

@greenpig I'm sorry to hear that! Do you mean you can't find any water resources? Or do you mean that your starting water is really low?

The 13th Colony by kristinamay 2022-04-05T16:06:39Z

@mwcz @rurie I feel like we've made it when people start figuring out ways to cheese the game.

The 13th Colony by kristinamay 2022-04-05T16:30:09Z

@greenpig When you get to a tile, you can (usually) hit "explore" on it to find resources (and dodge bad guys). Desert tiles have much lower rate of water spawning, though.

Decay Season by Morricore 2022-04-05T18:07:58Z

Nice work! Question: can you not fight the scary bad guys? I tried to smack them but I just kept losing health. I did like strategizing my way through the map each time. I love the music and the artwork. Congrats!

By-place by creativ4eg 2022-04-05T17:29:39Z

This game looks so cool! I found a couple bits of information but wasn't totally sure what to do next, so I wandered around for a while at least. I love detective games and this gave me a lil bit of a Disco Elysium vibe. I think this could be really good given more time and polish. Also I wish I could move faster!

Dungeon Dummies by Jozef 2022-04-05T15:42:39Z

This is SUCH A GOOD GAME. I got really stuck on level 5, tried for like 15 minutes to figure it out but no dice. Got any hints? I would love to keep going! I love how dumb the lil dummies are! I would play soooo many levels of this.

Dungeon Dummies by Jozef 2022-04-05T15:42:40Z

(Also I somehow managed to publish two identical comments and it looks like I can't delete it, I can only edit it. So you get DOUBLE comments from me.)

Click to Continue by Daniel Foutz 2022-04-05T19:38:41Z

Loved this so much. NGL I almost stopped clicking when I saw Biscuits. That poor lil banana shirt pup. But I had to click to continue!

Nelson's Nightmare: Remastered by clemonades 2022-04-05T16:33:08Z

Really cool jam game! I am like a previous commenter in that I got real stuck in the bottom corner and couldn't escape from the hordes of nightmare monsters. But the controls feel really good and the art is excellent. Great work!

Stickman Dam by Sawyer 2022-04-05T15:28:45Z

Pretty solid! Agreed with one commenter above that having a score would be cool, but otherwise this is great for your first game jam! I had fun zooming around trying to get all the leaks. Congrats on finishing a game!

Cat in the Bag by JoshH 2022-04-05T18:55:59Z

What a lovely and unique concept! The dialogue is great and the choices you have to make are dependent on the dialogue which keeps it interesting. Great work!

Herbert vs Homework by Str8griz 2022-04-05T15:12:25Z

LOL love the Isaac shoutouts. The art is wonderful, the music is jammin', the characters are goofy as heck. One thing that I'd change is adding an invincibility buffer and delay to taking damage - I got hit by one butt (lol) and then it took all my health in one go. Otherwise, really impressive game! Makes me want to go play tBoI again...

Doomsday Deviant's Date by ProbeProb 2022-04-05T14:57:06Z

What a great premise! I laughed when I sat down for the date and just had lil small talk. Unexpectedly clever and actually pretty fun to run around like a madman trying to keep it all together. I got 518 points!

Reaching Home by Martta 2022-04-05T16:05:23Z

Great game! I liked all the different things that could go wrong. Well, maybe "like" isn't the right word... :D Fire took so long to put out, I think it'd feel more madcap if fires could be put out at a biiiit faster rate. Also, I'm used to top-down games like this allowing me to use my mouse to direct my "bullets" (water spray) and so I kept messing up the controls. Overall though, this is a great game and I really enjoyed playing it!

The Inevitable Sinking by Alpha Wolf Studios 2022-04-05T19:21:02Z

Hoooly wow this game gets hard. The click target for that lil anchor is tough! I love the vibe of this game - great work y'all!

Hapman 🍩 The Inevitable by hilkojj 2022-04-05T15:19:31Z

I was confused at first because I didn't read the directions... lol. But after that, this was so cool! More responsive controls and more content I think could make this a really legit game, even for not a game jam. So silly to be a fly wandering around on bits of food. Great work.

A Small Fable by HiddenTavern 2022-04-05T18:04:49Z

Great vibes, lots of polish, loved the silly sun passing by each day. Great work!

Dads don't die by kremlebot 2022-04-05T15:24:11Z

I thiiiiink this is the first time that a jam game has ever made me cry? Kudos. The art and music are so beautiful, the animation is great... f*** this was depressing. Great work.

Super Me CID Quest by Carlos_7x 2022-04-05T15:01:22Z

Woooooof those bosses were hard! Agreed with the above poster that the sword's hit detection felt off, and the actual range felt impossibly small, but I'm not very good at these kinds of games. Did y'all make this music yourselves? It's awesome! I still have it playing in the background!

The Ultimate Martian Roulette by HaaYaargh 2022-04-05T18:12:39Z

Lollll This game was great. I love the time and attention put into crafting a good atmosphere, and I loved watching the other inmates play as well. (I also appreciate the not so subtle political commentary.) Thanks for making it!

Ancient Shooter by attentionadmin 2022-04-05T14:41:23Z

Lol I felt bad about not being able to find the exit, but I guess I'm not the only one! Congrats on your first jam! The main lil character is absolutely terrifying and I love them. Making the art and background more atmospheric and perhaps adding bits of story here and there could really improve this if y'all want to keep working on it!

Wait For It ! by Forgin Bits 2022-04-05T19:42:55Z

Woah, this is a compo game! Amazing work - I was really bad at the games but at least I enjoyed the art and music. Thanks for making this, I had fun :)

Arrow's Theorem by Guy Girmonsky 2022-04-05T17:07:32Z

This is so cool! More... educational, I guess, than most game jam games but I played this for a solid 15-20. I enjoyed the representations of the different voting styles. I wish my country didn't do FPTP voting  Anyway, I liked the dialogue and the gameplay; I think a bit more feedback on what's happening when could be good. For example, seeing a breakdown of votes off to the side would help with strategy when you have to repeat a level several times. Also, being able to not need to skip the dialogue over and over again would be good. But in any case, this game was great and props for making such a complex puzzle game during a jam!

Cold and Alone by David York 2022-04-05T18:50:33Z

This game is so great! You and I actually came up with fairly similar ideas and gameplay loops, but yours is much more polished. :) I also ran out of things to do, but until that point, I was SUPER engrossed and interested in exploring. Beautiful art, too. Love it!

RESET by Kazuren 2022-04-05T19:55:13Z

This is great! Loved interacting with everything, loved talking to people, loved the plot. It was somehow still kind of a chill game even though the outcome was (spoiler alert) not great. I enjoyed playing this for sure.

Don't Do the Dishes! by AngelicaD 2022-04-05T17:16:32Z

Lolol, doing the dishes really is inevitable, isn't it? Neat interpretation, fun execution, good work!

Bob must die by colineobordello 2022-04-05T14:47:36Z

LOL this is such a goofy premise, I like it. I'm over here letting the timer run for Bob right now to see what other endings I can get. How many are there? I laughed out loud more than once, great work. Bleak, but fun. :) Edit to add: omg the ending you get when you let it run! lolll

Impending chemical catastrophe by codebug 2022-04-05T17:10:55Z

This was such a good little game! It was really stressful but such a unique mechanic. I also wished I could use the arrow keys on my keyboard but otherwise this is a simple yet well-made game. Great work.

transaction failed by riley9 2022-04-05T20:39:42Z

Congrats on your first game ever! I really liked playing this and wandering around interacting with everything/everyone. This is soooo creative, keep making games!

Boris and the Miserable Factory of Mr. Bossman by Baptiste Lnq 2022-04-05T14:43:02Z

Dang it, I read all the details and was excited to play such a goofy-looking game, but it's Windows only. Hopefully I'll get to play it sometime before play/rate is up!

Candler by SunJet 2022-04-05T17:55:34Z

Really solid simple game! And congrats on your first game jam! One tiny piece of advice is to add a short sentence on this page saying how to play - I wasn't sure at first and took some unnecessary damage. But the core game is solid and it was fun to play. Good work!

Penguin Snoir by Sarah Alexa 2022-04-05T16:10:09Z

Hey, great work! I'm proud of you, internet stranger, for getting back into it and completing a game like this. At first I thought the clocks and little green things might be bad so I was trying to stay away from them... hah! I think with some polish this could be a really fun little shooter. Congrats on finishing!

LD52 — Harvest

Froot Processor by Joel Davis 2023-01-09T02:39:54Z

WOW, this game is so impressive! Love pico 8 and I love that it's not timed, so it's all about strategy. The art gave me Luck be a Landlord vibes. The music is unobtrusive and an appropriate accompaniment, and the game is balanced well. I would legit actually buy this. A couple bits of feedback, just small: I'd love to be able to see the trucks while I'm picking upgrades (maybe I just couldn't figure it out?) because I forgot where they were and managed to get a canner directing things precisely away from the canned row lol. Props for such a cool game.

Búskap by unpronounceable 2023-01-09T03:32:19Z

I'll start off by saying I'm a big fan of solitaire games (the Zachtronics solitaire collection has a LOT of playtime on my Steam account!). So I grabbed a deck of cards and played this for a while. Once I got the hang of it, I was really impressed with the depth of strategy required for successfully playing. If I have a stack that's looking promising but the top card is a Jack, do I roll the dice and try to add another card, or do I play it safe and harvest it to avoid defeat? I am apparently a bit too risk-taking for this game because my high score was only 5 (I had a 7-stacker sitting in my active crops when I lost, ugh!!). I have a bit of feedback on the rules: first, I think just picking the top three cards as the active crops and going from there is an interesting variant, that's what I did (it definitely made it harder). It wasn't totally clear to me that the rules were in order. I know that sounds silly, but I thought at first I was just reading a set of mechanics and then implementing them. The game made much more sense once I actually started doing the turns in the correct order. Anyway, great work, and I was glad to get away from my screen for a bit to play an analog game!

Growin' Ballistic by alaah 2023-01-09T02:42:42Z

Hello! I tried to play this but it seems like the web build doesn't work in Chrome on a Mac either. -_- it looks cool though!

Lullaby farms by TolMera 2023-01-09T02:55:36Z

I think this game is wonderful. My approach was to just try to smash keys until I figured out which was which, and then remembered the order and then finally played a melody. Super satisfying to get right once I figured it out, and THEN all this kinda weird cool stuff happens on screen as I'm playing? It's a sort of strange exploration kinda game and I'm a big fan. I like how forgiving it is as you're trying to find the right keys. Some little sound glitches here and there or whatever but it's still quite fun. Great work.

Acornville Escape Room by candlesan 2023-01-09T03:08:43Z

I LOVE ESCAPE ROOMS SO MUCH. I was so excited to escape. The puzzles were well-designed, had a nice difficulty curve, and had satisfying resolutions (and a couple "aha!" moments - those are the holy grail of escape rooms!). I did utter a swear at one point when I realized I had to (SPOILERS!!!!) go back through the corn maze, lol. Great work, this is so impressive for a compo game. I wish there were more puzzle game entries in LD, they're my favorite.

Revengetables by adam-gould 2023-01-09T03:17:53Z

I started playing this and I love the character voices. I lol'd when he (you?) said "Let's Brock and roll." But er, how do I switch characters? I want to meet my other vegetable friends but I just can't figure it out. I played the tutorial again and shot the targets for a while and nothing else happened. Let me know when you get a chance so I can finish playing and rate, please!

Typefarmer by Antti Haavikko 2023-01-09T04:12:13Z

Love your games! I like that we both made word games, yours is way different from mine though. I nabbed the third place spot, though I'm sure I'll have to defend it when I wake up in the morning. One thing I noticed was that sometimes a word would start thinking it was being typed when I was trying to type a different one, and then sometimes I'd start typing a word that was far away and it wouldn't register at all. I really liked that I had to try to remember words as I was going because your lil character runs right away from them! Anyway, thanks for a fun and polished lil adventure that I, as one of the commenters wrote above, DEFINITELY would have played for hours in computer class in high school.

Tactile Harvest by JakobTheQuizGuy 2023-01-09T02:32:11Z

It also took me a while to figure out I was playing the fingers - then it took me a bit longer to figure out that the ... ahem... cactuses ?? were also fingers, lol. Once I got the hang of it, it was really fun! Good work, chill music, good sound effects.

Word Salad by kristinamay 2023-01-09T03:50:11Z

@joel-davis Thanks! I definitely bit off more than I could chew with this one - I got used to doing jams with a bit more time, so I was really sweating this morning trying to finish. And yeah... I didn't love the dragging game either, tbh. I had several ideas for a puzzle-y approach but I decided to take the idea that I could implement the fastest (which turned out to be a good idea). Thanks for playing!

@candlesan Thanks for playing my game! I definitely think that shortening the first phase and then adding replayability in the form of additional stories or whatever could add to it, since based on my testing, people tend to enjoy the madlib part more than the first part.

Fruit Picker by Harmadillo 2023-01-09T02:47:42Z

This is a cool game! I'll be honest, I had a lot of fun jumping onto a crate I was holding and then bouncing around the level collecting apples... :D

Starchy Defender by FoggyDude 2023-01-09T03:45:30Z

Holy cow that game was stressful!! But really fun and so well-done, especially for a compo game! I stopped playing after I got to 15 potatoes or so because it's close to my bedtime and I was feeling too stressed by all those darn bugs. The level of polish is much higher than one typically sees for a game like this, and the game felt fairly well-balanced (though I wished I could see out a bit further.... wait... why didn't I just plant my crops right next to the well? oh my god. maybe I should play again. Anyway, great work!

Power Spud Harvest by Pojo79 2023-01-09T02:59:06Z

I liked that I only moved slightly faster than the little bugs, and that my bullets didn't go through the ground, so I had to embark on some super daring potato rescue missions. I also died a lot, lol. Great work! I like the music, too - what did you use to compose it?

LD53 — Delivery

Delivery out of order by stmatn 2023-05-08T14:51:24Z

I love programming games so much, I'm commenting on here so I can eventually play this on a computer that can run it! It looks so fun!

Loading Zone by drazil100 2023-05-15T18:24:07Z

Super fun game! I only played the jam version but I found the box organizing super satisfying and the game an appropriate level of challenging (save the improvements that other commenters mentioned re: RNG and hit box size). I'd play a full version of this.

You Got Served by ChuChuGeralt 2023-05-15T17:49:32Z

This is a cool game! Legit a ton of fun. To be super honest the first time I played it I didn't even see the visual clues and was like THIS IS WAY TOO HARD. lol. Then I read the other comments, went back and played it again, and it was WAY better. Genuinely a super fun game, really polished and the music was very appropriate. I'd totally play more of this with perhaps a different theme and with more outfits/etc. Probably my favorite game I've played so far this LD.

Speedy Delivery Co. by kristinamay 2023-05-08T17:32:36Z

@ntimi there are 300 total boxes, so it goes as long as it takes you to deliver them. But it does randomize them each time so it's different each time you play. Thank you for playing!

Speedy Delivery Co. by kristinamay 2023-05-09T14:34:23Z

@stellarr2 thank you so much for such an in-depth review! It made me happy to read, and I totally agree with your critiques. If you check out my other games on my itch page, almost all of them are made in love2d, and while the code is probably pretty questionable (game jam code!), they're at least examples! Feel free to fork them and play around with them yourself. And if you ever want to talk about game making in love2d or pixel art in pixaki, let me know! If you message me on twitter (@kristinalustig) I'd be happy to chat. Thanks again!

No Junk Mail by MisterKeefe 2023-05-16T18:29:10Z

Really impressive game! It could be fun to be able to place traps yourself in another version of this game. For some reason the art made me think a lot of The Incredible Machine. Just like, a waaaay more violent version of that game. The laser was super satisfying. I also HATE JUNK MAIL. Great work!

Truck off! by chertkov 2023-05-15T18:06:27Z

I couldn't figure out how to pick up deliveries, was I doing something wrong? I tried backing in and driving in to the garage right below where I started but I couldn't grab any semi trucks like the person who screenshotted above did. I did zoom around for a bit though, which was fun!

Hade's Delivery by Sheol 2023-05-16T18:07:32Z

This was a great little game - really impressed with the different enemies and their attacks, and the controls felt surprisingly good for a jam game. The overall atmosphere was a little dark and tough to see, but I could see enough to play. My inner Binding of Isaac lover was out in full force and I'd totally play more of this game with more weapons. I also liked the Sonic-esque hit system. Great work!

Planetary Pizza by mrks 2023-05-16T18:25:35Z

Agree with a lot of the feedback! I was very confused about the gravity slingshotting me away from the planet - I think this game could be really great if the physics were fixed up a bit. I like that there's no time constraint (I don't think!) and I can just zoom around collecting ingredients. I did not successfully deliver a pizza but not for lack of trying! I liked the music a lot too.

SPACE.FARER by MartinK 2023-05-16T17:58:15Z

This is a cool game with a really ambitious scope! I had fun running missions and reading the details of the missions (I had a sort of similar game a few LDs ago called Outer). It did lower the stakes dramatically that I basically couldn't lose, but with more content and balancing this could be a really great game.

Stork inc. by quabmara 2023-05-08T14:56:59Z

I also liked the throwback screen effects! I ..couldn't quite tell what the orange blobs on screen were? I liked the stork names, and I liked the details provided for each delivery. It felt like sort of a crapshoot as to whether or not my stork was gonna be strong enough for a given task, and once I thought I'd done a good job but then about 4 seconds after I'd done anything I got a game over for... reasons? Nice chill music, SFX are a bit strange but work with the aesthetic. Nice work.

Aerial Express A.M. by fuzzybut 2023-05-08T15:10:32Z

Once I realized the packages had to match the color of the basket it got easier, hah. This game has a great vibe, it was relaxing and fun to play, and I loved when the bird hit the package into the correct bin. Also I liked the forgiving hit box of the bins, and I thought the controls were generally perfect for the game. My favorite part, though, was that when I got a D it stood for "delightful," you got a snort-laugh outta me for that one. Good work.

The Delivering of Christ - The trials of Mary by Trakina 2023-05-08T16:13:12Z

Lovely game! Makes me want to play vampire survivors again, which is extremely dangerous... Wonderful desert art, very chill game, and the power of christ RULED. Balanced really well, too. And good music. Overall, I loved this, I'd totally play more.

Bloodiest Mary by nullmike 2023-05-15T17:56:55Z

Great work! I like the vibe of this game, I like the subtle introduction of the mysterious guy asking questions, and I really liked the gameplay. I'd definitely play more of this.

Delivery Cannon by Stellarr2 2023-05-08T14:49:51Z

Agreeing with a lot of comments here - I think this has potential! It was frustrating that I couldn't deliver a chair to any house requesting a chair. And at default zoom I could barely even realize that they were requesting different things! But I like this idea in general, the cannon is cool. Would be neat if it were more powerful, too! Lots of ways to expand the game, which I think is the sign of a solid game jam game. Good work!

Then Came A Stork by bonkibot 2025-10-07T13:34:57Z

This was so cute. The first time I wrecked my stork with a baby in tow, I barked out the biggest laugh, I was NOT expecting to literally explode! The controls were a little finnicky but excellent sound design and polish, I loved the little storytelling bits while I was flying. Also I didn't realize this was so old! It came up as the top option for playing and rating for me, oops! Still good though!

Super Special Delivery by Nathan Franck 2023-05-16T18:36:03Z

The intro to this game really makes me want to play it! Feels so funky. Good luck on your next jam, friend!

Bus Hostage ! by Aymco 2023-05-08T15:03:13Z

LOL this game was so silly and fun. I had soooo many hostages in my car and the cops didn't give a single crap. At one point I got wedged sideways inbetween what I think was the hotel and another building, and I was trying to execute a 100000 point turn and then the cops GOT ME. Poor hostages, lol. The controls for this were super tough but it felt like it was kind of ridiculous on purpose. I loved that the game just started with a guy's head sticking out of the bus. Excellent work.

Delivery Survivor by LogicProjects 2023-05-16T18:11:46Z

I love vampire survivors! I think the difficulty in this game ramped up a bit fast, and because my attack was so slow, I could pretty much only move constantly and only attack the things in front of me. So there were swarms of college girls around me and I could do nothing but throw a noodle at them, lol. With some balance this has the potential to be a quite good and silly game!

LD54 — Limited Space

Broken Robot by Local Minimum 2023-10-16T18:53:05Z

I was confused for a while but once I figured out I was excited! Very inventive puzzle mechanic, I'd play a more detailed game like this. I didn't love the fact that I had to time my entries - I'd prefer my puzzle games to be less stressful/reaction-based - but spelling out commands that you then "get" to use is so cool. Great work in a limited amount of time!

Cozy by mechanicallife 2023-10-16T20:20:10Z

This is a very chill game, I had fun decorating my beautiful bedroom. If only I could keep plants alive IRL... Screen Shot 2023-10-16 at 4.19.03 PM.png

Negative Space by Baturinsky 2023-10-20T18:08:28Z

I love this game! Really clever premise, good learning curve, nice difficulty ramp-up. Definitely would play more of this in a "zen" mode sort of thing. I liked trying to keep my cargo bay as neat as possible, and I liked that the different levels had different puzzle-y themes. Great work.

Space Trucks by digital bacon 2023-10-16T20:01:12Z

I don't have much to add from the other feedback and comments I've read above, but generally - good work! I actually liked that it didn't feel hectic at first, I'd enjoy having more variety though. Also, if you haven't seen it, there's a ridiculous and wonderful movie from the 90s called Space Truckers which is why I clicked into this game to play!

Bug's Museum of Fine Art by kristinamay 2023-10-16T18:26:06Z

Thank you for the reviews, both of you! @gamebuilder @minjutin We wanted to implement a more hand-chosen palette because we also had that difficulty with getting the colors right, but we didn't have time to spend on it. In any case, thank you so much for playing!

Bug's Museum of Fine Art by kristinamay 2023-10-20T17:43:17Z

@rinta That's so strange, I'm sorry it's doing that! Your art is indeed beautiful, and there's no way you should be getting 0 points. What browser are you playing in? My only guess is that local storage isn't working properly for you, so it's not storing your score, but your paintings are still there, so... thanks for playing anyway!

Space Inserters by Jeff Kerman 2023-10-16T19:12:58Z

I love word games soooo much but fully could not figure out how to play. I'd enter a letter and then try to move the cursor right to add a space, but I couldn't. Am I not supposed to enter letters? Is there a particular order I should be doing things in? Am I supposed to split the whole set of letters up into a few words without adding anything new? I'd genuinely love to play this, I'm just stuck. Thanks!

Space Ltd. by HolySparks 2023-10-16T18:36:39Z

This was a really cool game! I actually made a packing game kind of (only a little bit) similar to this for LD53, but your puzzle mechanics are really nifty. I didn't realize until a few rounds in that I was losing money for not putting stuff from the belt onto the cargo, I thought I could just take what I wanted  I kept wondering, "Why am I losing SO much money?!" Anyway, good work!

wild maid by thyoi 2023-10-16T18:46:54Z

I loved this game! It felt very complete, the opponent was fun, I actually lol'd when I saw the uno cards, and generally I was super impressed with it. The sound effects were good and the art was great. My favorite of the jam!

Turtle Tower by robin_schmitz 2023-10-16T20:07:32Z

I like this! I was a bit confused at first because nothing for me to grab spawned in view of where the player starts, and I was waiting for stuff to pop up around me before I realized I could move around more, and then I started, ahem, very skillfully stacking items. A steel beam, it turns out, is not a good choice for on top of an inflatable flamingo.

GridBlocked by KillerB 2023-10-16T19:45:28Z

Hey now, I really like organizing things... anyway, very cool game, drag and drop can be so annoying to implement from scratch so I feel your pain. Good work!

Trapped in the Infinite Script by meowellyq 2023-10-16T19:06:43Z

Very interesting graphic novel! I'm always a big fan of fourth-wall breaking. At first I was skeptical but then I got into it, I'd definitely read more of this. Thanks for making it, good work!

Space of No Space by sisuisa 2023-10-16T20:34:19Z

I spent some time moving shapes around but am not sure what it does - it seems I am not alone! I really like the art style though, and I like the cryptic nature of the progression... maybe a little bit less cryptic at least at first so the player can have a couple of "a-ha!" moments to get them hooked.

Defrag by henk 2023-10-16T19:37:02Z

What a wonderful puzzle game! I could definitely see myself sitting here for a few hours playing this, but I have to rate more LD games  . I was absolutely bewildered and annoyed until I read @sharploaded 's comment that I'm not supposed to select the end pieces. WOW that made a massive difference. I kept thinking I had to select the end pieces but then when I placed it flush with one of the same color, it kept the gap. It's so hard to create a fresh-feeling puzzle game but you definitely did. Love it.

LD55 — Summoning

The Summoning at River's Edge by Flaterectomy 2024-04-17T11:18:45Z

This is a REALLY good game. I love games like this (my first couple of jam games were text-based!) and your writing is lovely. The storyline was good - for some reason I got some Name of the Wind vibes / even The Inheritance Trilogy vibes but I think that's mainly from the traveling plot. I was genuinely really compelled by the characters and found the background music to be a good accompaniment. I even played it through a couple of times - I got the sad ending first and the happy one next, but I couldn't figure out how to get the third ending. Anyway, great work!!

Spring Must Come by muriel 2024-04-17T14:00:52Z

Great intro to the game, and at first I was like "well what's so hard about this?" and then I got to the equilibrium level and was like, "....ohhhhh." Good work!

Summoning Instructions by Yxure 2024-04-17T11:26:02Z

Perfect scope for a jam game! I loved the Minit-esque art, it was easy and intuitive, and the art at the end RULED did you make that pixel typeface yourself? What engine did you make your game in? Good work, really liked this. ALSO I thought the thing next to the grave was a ham for a long time before I realized it was flowers, lolol.

Depths of Hell by pres2300 2024-04-17T13:33:14Z

Great work on your first (?) jam! I think a lot of the other comments have covered what I was intending to say but I might as well do it anyway :) I think that more balance would be good - there is a good bit of walking around while there are no enemies coming at you, and then all of a sudden you get the bosses whose bullets you literally cannot dodge, so it seems like there's a bit of weird difficulty disconnect. Maybe using the ramping up difficulty (which I like the concept of!) to dictate how many enemies can spawn at once, so, first level just 1, second 2, etc. I really like that there was a goal instead of a time limit or something, so you could hurry through if you wanted. And because at least the first few maps were really big, I think being able to move a tiiiiny bit faster would be great. All that being said, I loved the silly little death noises and the combat felt quite polished for a jam game. Good work!

Rune Caller by kristinamay 2024-04-16T10:23:42Z

@nick-luciani totally agree that it's too easy!! I wanted to implement a hard mode but just no time. Thanks for playing!

@6knowledge lolol thank you. I had way too much fun sitting there, looking at pictures of the creatures, and then making the weirdest sounds possible with my mouth.

@minjutin thank you!! Most of them were created while half asleep at like 1am, I am so glad you like them. That one's name in the code (before I actually named them) is "coolCarrot"

Hell's Kitchen by Zanar 2024-04-17T10:46:48Z

The game didn't work properly for me - I gathered the ingredients but when I tried to do the invocation it just froze for a bit, no dance moves, and then after a bit it unfroze. So I will review the bits that I could experience! I love the art style - the outlines on a black background work really well, especially for a game like this. The chill lil background music was also a great fit for the vibe and visual style. This particular sort of game isn't my cup of tea personally (timed games + memory games = my two greatest weaknesses, lol) but it seems like it was really well done. Good work!

Summoned by Bender Biber 2024-04-16T00:26:51Z

I tried to load this but it just kept crashing my browser - looks like at least it's not a problem with everyone! The concept seems cool at least.

Tournament of Summoners by VladImperator 2024-04-17T10:32:03Z

Other reviewers like "a bit hard to understand at first" and I'm over here staring trying to click on things for a solid 2 min before I realized I'm supposed to use a keyboard :crying_cat_face:

Tournament of Summoners by VladImperator 2024-04-17T10:58:04Z

@vladimperator lol it's okay! It's a game jam, after all!

The Summonee by theheheo 2024-04-17T10:27:08Z

LOVE the retro graphics. Agree with other reviewers that the gameplay lacks depth, but, you know, game jam. I think peoples' expectations are higher because the interactions feel SO polished. Really impressive sound design and the combat just feels really nice. Also the summoner was such a silly lil guy.

It took me a min to realize I actually had to go through the portal, I was expecting things to come through it the other way. I also wanted my lil demon to move just a tiny bit faster. But overall this was really great, good work!

The Art of Pixel Summoning (TAPS) by DigiDuncan 2024-04-17T11:51:25Z

There is the kernel of a really good game in here! I love these sorts of combining games (I made one a few years ago for a past LD) but they're really hard without a lot of testing I think. I was mostly stuck looking at, like, an... eclipse? and then thinking, "what would beat an eclipse? maybe... lightning and... fire?" but with some more polish and balancing this would be really fun. Good work!

Pokoe The Forest Summoner's Day Off by Mavvy 2024-04-17T13:41:07Z

Love the art, love the background music. Honestly better than most of the jam games I played, let alone compo games! The mechanic of shooting the last direction you ran was very strange and made for some silly and interesting interactions like me sprinting into a corner and turning around really fast to mash the space bar. I really liked this, great work!

Mansion of Dreams by saintchristopher777 2024-04-17T10:53:42Z

Was the art supposed to appear in the different rooms even if they weren't unlocked? As it stood I couldn't figure out how to do anything, I moved my mouse around and sometimes found hover highlights in different rooms that I think are probably things I could interact with? But it was all a grey fog for me. Which is too bad because I love puzzle games and games that involve exploration and just trying things (someone above me mentioned Cultist Simulator, which is a favorite of mine).

Attack of the Teves by Yernemm 2024-04-17T10:40:32Z

I was very bad at this! I had a hard time kicking the bombs because whenever the bomb loaded for me to kick it, the Teves were already right on top of me and I had to run away. BUT it was really fun to just try to time it right so big groups ran over the bomb right as it was exploding. The gore was :sunglasses: and I looooooved the music becoming slightly off-kilter as it went. Also when I died, I forgot that I could Alt-F4 (it's early) and I just felt rising panic as I looked around for an exit button and the scary bomb sounds and music became scarier and scarier and my screen was all red, lol. Is there another level after the second one? That is as far as my skill brought me. Great work!!

Throw Hands!! by FootLettuce 2024-04-17T13:50:41Z

Love the art style and the perspective! Did you really write this music yourself for the game?! It's really good! Honestly I had a lot of fun running around and finding things to punch and then jilkjilkjilkjilkjilkjilkjlj lolol good work. Very polished with a lot of variety, especially for a compo game.

Duplicity: The Game of Fate by ne_sofa 2024-04-17T10:11:14Z

Hah I also tried to play this! I took a year of Russian in college, uh, many years ago... so I just read the cyrillic characters out loud and tried to see if I recognized any words. I got as far as being pretty sure you wanted me to enter my name... in any case, the art is pretty and the sound effects are immersive! I hope you get enough ratings from actual Russian speakers!

Limbo Solutions inc. by out1oud 2024-04-17T13:22:52Z

Okay SO this is the exact kind of game I enjoy playing, I'm just mildly confused about how to handle the language thing. I keep clicking on the book and trying to click on the different languages, but I can't figure out how I'm meant to compare them. Also the phrase "used to be bald" is confusing for me. I got a few right and a few wrong but it was mostly chance! I think this has a lot of potential to be an interesting mystery-ish game if there's a bit more clues to the player about how to proceed. That being said, I like the music and art and concept quite a bit!

Syzygy by dotblank 2024-04-17T13:44:54Z

I got a lot of points but had NO idea what to do - I thought I was doing it right until I saw your comment about summoning moons. How do you do that? A few times I got an extra point from getting a "midpoint' but I still had no clue what I was doing. I'd love to play this, could you please provide some hints about how to play?

No more summoning! by Anthonny 2024-04-17T10:06:12Z

Very interesting concept! I found it a bit frustrating that I kept missing the summons because I was, I guess, slightly off, even though visually my character was right on top of the circle. The pixel art is really cute!

LD57 — Depths

Hooking Back by Stending 2025-04-24T18:58:04Z

I like this a lot! There's certainly a lot left to be created, but the music is cool and I really like the fundamental concept of the fishing minigame (matching your hook to the little bags). I found that after a little bit, the "a" key stopped making the line move to the left, is that by design? All the other directions worked but that one! In any case, good work.

Fish.Net by Pete 2025-04-17T18:33:49Z

I like the music a lot, this sort of game is nice because it's chill and there's very little pressure, ofc there's lots to add but this is a game jam! :) good work.

Escape From GR0K Tower by paulhocker 2025-04-24T19:13:06Z

I love the art in this game! I also liked the concept, though I found for several floors I just could not for the life of me figure out what to do. Please please tell me what I'm supposed to do with the chain?

Armstrong: Plunge, Protect, Punch by abcdef65g 2025-04-17T18:58:26Z

Nice music and art, like someone a few spaces above me, the first thing I did was "land" on a platform and die lol. Maybe making them look less like platforms (typically safe) and more like obstacles would work. I also, since I was able to smash a green platform, tried to smash a red one much later for funsies and died, lol. Also found that the time overlap between taking my finger off left + right and then punching down felt too tight, like, I would take my finger off the AD keys a fraction of a second after I pressed space, and in that scenario I expect to punch down instead of across. Not sure how solvable that is but it felt finnicky to me. Anyway, cool arcade game, nice work!

Into the Depths by pres2300 2025-04-24T19:17:13Z

This was a cool game with a simple core mechanic and a nice twist at the end. I was like "oh look at me I did it" and then I saw the big red blob and was like NOOOO NO I DIDN'T! Nice work with a variety of weapons and enemies, too. I loved how the enemies got stuck between two rocks I threw at them, lol.

Mush Rush by mcovert 2025-04-24T20:02:00Z

This game is SO GOOD. Simple in its concept but there's so much actual depth (ha ha) to it, and the mushrooms are so cute, and it's really fun and chill to play. Great job, this is probably one of the first games I've played this LD that I'd actually buy and play if it were a fully-fleshed-out game.

Fosu! by island-jam-2-group-3 2025-04-17T18:48:10Z

I liked this! I got some old-school pikachu skateboard vibes, lol. I got to a point where there was literally no way to proceed because bombs covered the entire row twice in a row and I only had one shield. Oh well! I also found that when I tried to move across to get a shield when I was in the same row, the shield just moved as well, which felt kind of weird. It started slow, I'd probably ramp up the speed quickly at the beginning and then slow down the increase, just to give the player a chance to get their bearings. It'd be cool to have some sort of point system with items you can grab as you go, or powerups that like, temporarily slow things down or remove bombs or whatever. Lots of potential!

P(urple)thulhu vs SHIPS: Tentacle Trouble! by GreatVV 2025-04-17T19:43:35Z

Lots of potential here! Totally agree with the person from a few comments up that this could be a much more involved game if there were obstacles to work around, or if you had to build up to the spots you had to cover. As it stands, I just kinda threw shapes in and it worked pretty easily. But this is a really good basis for a puzzle game, I like it!

Infernal Bites: Food delivery in the depths of hell by magus77 2025-04-24T19:01:37Z

Had major crazy taxi flashbacks!! This was so hard to drive, and it kept lagging, but I really appreciated the vibe, and the music made me think I was in some kinda Applebees commercial for meat, or something. Very good silliness.

Cavers Cantina by kristinamay 2025-04-18T18:37:13Z

thanks all! @macs it was a combo, I hand-wrote each bit of "flavor text" for each character (their satisfied text, dissatisfied text, and thanks), and then wrote the ingredient descriptions, but then when it came to the actual requests, I mix-and-matched them from several possible descriptions. I was going to hand-write everything but then it was Monday, lol.

The Dig by ditam 2025-04-17T18:38:03Z

I tried to play this but even in chrome on windows, I'm not seeing anything happen when I move my worker around. I like the sound effects and it's got a sinister vibe that I'd definitely be into! Let us know if you have a build that ends up working a bit better, I'd love to try it for reals.

Elfen Golfen by mackain 2025-04-24T19:50:39Z

omg the twinkly sound when you're hovering   this isn't really my kind of game but I love the polish, the simple gameplay loop, and the absolutely ridiculous premise. Great job.

Break Down! by hulien22 2025-04-24T19:47:10Z

Okay, once I understood what I was supposed to do, this game was SO cool. Definitely the most polished one I've played thus far. My strategy was to release some balls and then try to guard the "opening" of the blocks so that no balls could get away from me. It kind of worked! Great music and art and cool concept!

Into the Depths by CataclysmicKnight 2025-04-17T18:42:21Z

Haven't played this yet but I wanted to save it for later. I just wanted to drop in and say the production value on your PDF is very high, it looks great and is clear and easy to read. Attention to detail like that is really appreciate for a jam game, and I really like that it's played with an existing card deck. Thanks for making a physical game, so cool!

Caver by Harmadillo 2025-04-17T19:36:49Z

I liked this! I made it to the bottom and was a bit sad to find nothing there. This feels like the basis for a really cool exploration + storytelling game, and it's a lot done for a compo game! I found that the torches maybe got stuck and stopped updating? Or maybe I just had way more than I thought, but I ended with a ton of every resource. Anyway, good work!

Fia Fuel by Jim jagers 2025-04-17T19:22:03Z

Got some Captain Comic 1 vibes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33VX9NvLf4s) I spent so many hours of my childhood playing that game! Loved the exploration vibes! I was kind of annoyed that I didn't have the ability to fall faster after I got the umbrella, it felt like everything took soooo long. I found two boots and was trying to figure out how to get the brown boot before I ran out of oxygen. I like that you c an place checkpoints wherever you want. I thought the bubbles should let me get oxygen from them! They're air bubbles! But anyway, this game was super impressive, especially given the fact that it's a compo entry! With time taken to refine the interaction/movement and to flesh out its puzzle-ness a bit more, I think this could be a great game.

Mousehold by NBumgardner 2025-04-24T19:27:32Z

A simple little game that had nice art and felt good to control - I was sad that the levels repeated but also I totally get it! I fed my son all of my cheese and then ran into a mouse trap to see what would happen. Hungry son, hungry cat. Thanks for the giggles!

Swoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooord!! by She Wrote 2025-04-24T19:08:01Z

This is a very very silly game, I wasn't totally sure what the correct strategy was but I did laugh when I attached scissors on top of a saw on top of a gun ??? I love the simplistic art and the very basic concept. Great work.

Echoes in the Deep by midamida 2025-04-24T19:36:01Z

This is a cool concept! I felt a few times that the enemy had spawned right on top of me even though I was spamming the sonar, but other than that I thought it was pretty cool and a novel concept. Good work!

View in the Depth by noagard 2025-04-17T19:53:59Z

I liked this a lot! I love games that are just about exploration, and I enjoyed zooming around trying to find stuff. I feel like this could be the basis for a more involved game with some kind of stakes, somehow. As it stands, I could definitely see this being used as an educational game for high school students (but like with real stuff, lol). The UI was nifty too. I definitely expected to be able to use the mouse wheel anywhere on the screen, by the way, took me a bit to realize that I had to have the mouse over the wheel. Anyway, great work!

Cat in the dark by MadelineF 2025-04-24T19:23:01Z

This was an impressive array of game mechanics and art and sfx for a jam game! I felt that the kitty was a little bit slow, but I liked the climbing and grappling. I busted out laughing when I was playing the tutorial and I saw the map for the first time. Beautiful.

Job: Elevator! by Infernaton 2025-04-17T19:06:29Z

I like this! I made a game very similar to it a few years ago: https://kristinamay.itch.io/which-floor-please

Anyway, my only feedback here is that I didn't know when I was about to lose (I assumed the rows would need to fill up), and the location of the elevator felt finnicky (a few times I opened the elevator and I was slightly off, despite it visually seeming like I was in there, yeah I should look at the lightup signs but I was FOCUSED lol). Cool game, good work!

Inner Beasts by jscommander 2025-04-17T19:25:47Z

The music/sound design f'ing RULES definitely the best stuff I've heard reviewing gamse thus far. The hand-drawn art looked a bit pixelly on my screen, I'd love to full-screen it, and the controls were a bit slow, but generally excellent vibes. Vibes are so important. Great work!

FarmWare! by Twaerd 2025-10-07T15:38:38Z

I love seeing a Love2D game out there, and I like the vibe, but holy hell this game was not made for me! I failed every single level multiple times except for the apple level. That wheat is stuck in there with super glue I swear. And that rude person at the ends of the levels, frowning at me for missing a single wheat. I could feel the rage rising in my throat, lol. but HEY you elicited some emotions! And made a fully-finished game! Good work. This whole review might accidentally sound mean but it's not meant to sound mean at all, just ... from a middle-aged gamer with bad reflexes and worse patience. :)

You no take OIL! by mremmele 2025-10-07T14:54:13Z

Woooo this was fun! I made it all the way through. Would definitely love to see more upgrades/balance/etc as the other reviewers have mentioned , but as a jam entry this ruled. I haven't played an auto-shooter / tower defense combo before. I enjoyed it a lot!

GLÜBOP by kristinamay 2025-10-07T14:14:50Z

@automathan thank you!!

@beebster-games Not sure what "documentation of the controls" means but thanks for the feedback! I'm aware that a game like this is quite niche but thanks for giving it a shot.

GLÜBOP by kristinamay 2025-10-07T15:40:40Z

@divarium @ericns it's definitely meant to be difficult! I might have made it too difficult, but I decided to stick to my guns and just provide lots of hints below if it was too opaque. Playtesters were able to figure out the gist without hints, but they know me so were more willing to give it more time. :) Thank you for playing!

GLÜBOP by kristinamay 2025-10-08T15:02:46Z

yeah @ueighti I agree, it was really hard to get that level of polish in this time frame. I think even some sounds indicating things one way or the other would have helped, but not enough time :crying_cat_face:. Oh well, better to be ambitious and fail, right? :D

GLÜBOP by kristinamay 2025-10-11T22:49:46Z

I appreciate all the feedback, y'all! @amande-dooce could you please send me a screenshot of the issue? In all my playtesting I haven't come across that issue at all and would love to fix it for you.

Kidnap Equation by koro.games 2025-10-07T15:11:02Z

I lol'd when it gave me a trolley problem after the first one. I drove around for ages and couldn't find the second guy, and it wouldn't even let me kidnap random people! So, I got stuck after 1. I wish I could drive backwards faster because I wrecked into curbs/walls waaaaayy too often. But overall, I'm a fan! Good vibes, good work!

Goblin Smoovees by rickylee 2025-10-07T13:59:33Z

this game had me CACKLING holy cow. I am gonna beat up that lil straw dude for stealing my smoovees though. Seriously great work, I thoroughly enjoyed making disgusting smoothies for these weird lil goblins. Such a silly and effective game. Wonderful.

The Garbage-Man Of New Trash City by kenevil1 2025-10-07T15:24:47Z

I love the vibe and the art! I could not control that dang garbage truck to save my life, and I wasted a lot of time trying to gather up the piles of garbage that I realized later were meant to be road blocks. But! Impeccable vibe.

Wingless by KriSsS Gonko 2025-10-07T15:04:01Z

this is a really, really well-polished game for a jam, wow. I love the art style and the puzzle platforming is impressively well-done. I like the atmospheric soundtrack, too. Great work, y'all!

Serial Cleaner by 6Knowledge 2025-10-07T15:15:45Z

lol I started playing this, and then once I figured out I needed to scrub off the desk, and after scrubbing the spot for a WHILE I was like, have you SEEN my desk, I don't do that in real life, I am totally not doing it here. So I drank some coffees, ran around, and vacuumed up... the carpet? I dunno. I appreciate this game! My little pill-shaped janitor needed a break, though. Nice work :D

Bail-out by kazetheroth 2025-10-07T15:33:21Z

This game is VERY silly and I don't understand French but I did enjoy trying to sneak a huge strongbox out of his house. Several times I am SURE I didn't see him but the anger meter still went up, but that's okay. I had a lamp in my hand and got lost in his house and panicked as I tried to find my way out while he was yelling at me for stealing his ...underwear? I dunno. I liked it though.

Rabbit Hunt by LAPSE 2025-10-07T15:19:53Z

Hey - making games is SO hard. props for giving it your best, and for trying to get it done in a compo time frame, no less! I was able to move around, to undo my movements, and that's more than nothing! What game engine did you use? I'm proud of you for getting as far as you did, and next time will be even better! Good luck, friend! <3

The Collector's Challenge by Lancelier 2025-10-07T15:46:26Z

Alright so we got an inscryption vibe going here! I'm a fan. I like that it's a puzzle game with no time limits (I hate timed games and that makes it so hard to play jam games!!). I was a bit confused at first about what to do - some of the text is cut off on the screen. But I figured it out after a round. I'd love for it to be longer, with more complex options for levels. I got to a third level and I didn't have enough pieces to get all the souls... and I'm not sure why? But I think there's a LOT of opportunity here for a really cool puzzle game. Great work.

Piro Hero by markal 2025-10-07T13:44:17Z

Solid game loop with upgrades and running around! I was a little annoyed that there were a few places I thought I could move around but had to weasel my way out of a weird corner. Wanted to be able to talk to the people, and wanted to walk on the grass! Also, once I collected all the upgrades, I was finally gonna get my apartment key, and on the end of the last night, the game froze. BUT! that's okay. I earned it in my heart. Good work!

Coherence by bentglasstube 2026-04-20T15:40:58Z

I liked this, I love pipes games like this, but I kept losing and not understanding why. My oxygen was fine, and I thought that was the only concern? Maybe not. In any case, I liked that different pieces occasionally behaved in ways I didn't expect, I think a puzzle like this has a lot of potential to get really complex and interesting! Good work.

Metric Relay by xotraz 2026-04-20T16:17:10Z

This is really well-polished! I made it through about 40 levels. I understand the concept but at a certain point my brain was like "ok we can't logic this out let's just place beacons in likely spots and roll with it" but I did start kinda learning the approach after a bit. I love puzzle games so this was great! Good work! AND it's a compo game? Even more impressive!

Peter's divine intervention by metalgear 2026-04-20T15:53:21Z

I liked this! I thought I'd be able to outrun the other people and a couple times I got burned by that, but otherwise I thought it was cool! It'd be nice to be able to see the circle a bit more clearly, even if we can't see it all the time. Otherwise this is very fleshed out for a compo game, good work!

Singing Space CEOs by Jack Maxwell 2026-04-20T14:38:11Z

lol this was so silly! and really impressive compo game! I went to the rock and roll planet and got some music, wasn't totally sure how to edit it but flew my crappy recordings back to earth. they loved it!! i got enough money to go to disco ball planet and i was super excited, but as soon as I got there, I got a call... I accidentally spent all the money and now the mean CEOs are gonna make me drift off into space  but i loved the inclusion of voice acting and all the music. Genuinely this was a delight, even if I couldn't quite figure out how to be better at it. Good work!

Adventures in Xenolinguistics! by kristinamay 2026-04-20T14:48:21Z

@indigowolf thanks for trying! It's very much unfinished - you probably have enough information for a normal person to translate 5-6 words, and then from there it's all a matter of how much you want to decipher an alien language for absolutely no benefit, lol. But whomst among us hasn't been a little overambitious in a game jam?

Adventures in Xenolinguistics! by kristinamay 2026-04-21T18:39:18Z

thank you all so much for playing!! some of you suggested a post-mortem with more info on the language would be interesting, so I wrote one here: https://itch.io/blog/1495952/ld59-postmortem-creating-an-alien-language-for-a-48-hour-jam

cc @tolviere @tenthousandfireants @stasm @xotraz

@msipp27 any idea how you managed to break the game like this? I'd like to fix it!

Adventures in Xenolinguistics! by kristinamay 2026-04-21T19:32:56Z

Thank you so much @fae-pdf I really appreciate the effusive positivity :) If you saw my blog post, there's a big document at the bottom for your translation enjoyment :)

To answer your questions:

For half-rectangles:

!> yes, adjectives or adverbs. anything descriptive, anything describing what type of something it is

For half-circles:

!> prepositions, yes!

It genuinely makes me so happy that you got so into it, I'm grinning looking at my computer right now. I'm going to go check out your game, too! <3

Adventures in Xenolinguistics! by kristinamay 2026-04-21T19:34:01Z

@j3m i'm glad that my logical lines of thought made sense enough to follow. thank you for playing!

Adventures in Xenolinguistics! by kristinamay 2026-04-21T19:59:11Z

@j3m No but it's been on my list for ages because Arrival is one of my favorite movies! It combines my two great loves: language mysteries and sci fi :) I'll definitely check it out soon now.

Switchboard by James_7777 2026-04-20T16:01:59Z

This is sooooo polished for a jam game!! I fiddled around with making a switchboard game a couple of years ago, but this is way better than my concept. I like the different ways of determining the correct connection, it's like 911 operator meets Papers, Please. I'd totally play a full game like this, great work.

To walk on Strange Roads? by alyd asmar 2026-04-21T19:57:14Z

oh my gosh you ALSO made a game with an entire made-up language!! I love the pdf translation guide (beautifully designed!), I loved the hot/cold mechanic for finding packages, and I love the depth that went into designing the language even going so far as diacritics and particles. I don't suppose someone on your team also studied linguistics? Anyway, the pixel art is beautiful. The game also just feels lovely to play. Many a-ha moments like "ohhh yogurt cold circle for machine." Have you ever played the game Concept? It's almost like a kind of visual charades. Also I love that the entire planet is vegetarian <3 tbh this game/vibe feels tailor-made for me so thanks for making it.

Haberdashery Rhythm Assault by Asieke 2026-04-20T15:16:31Z

this is so cool!! It reminds me a lot of rhythm doctor, but I really like that you have to do different things based on what's attacking you. And even though there was no info at all to start, I quickly figured out what to do. I'm impressed, you should write more about your game on here so that others will give it a try and rate it! Good work!

Ok first off, I listened to every second of every station and I gotta appreciate your creativity here, it also made me laugh a few times. To be clear I didn't understand two of the stations but really enjoyed listening through them! This is a really creative compo entry and honestly there aren't enough puzzle games in jams like this IMO. I was a bit confused about what to do at first because i was looking up top for the button and eventually realized it was at the bottom but marked ^^^, hah. Also, the resolution was suuuuper small no matter what I did, but I squinted my way through it, and I'm glad I did! I'll be on the lookout for future more complex puzzles from you like this, because this has a lot of potential and I think it's a great format for a puzzle game! Awesome work.

Terminal Espionage by Frib 2026-04-20T16:52:12Z

I LOVE THIS GAME!!!

Seriously, I was having sooooo much fun until I tried "c cipher set key june" and then it blew up with an exception that I am so sorry I did not capture and paste. But it's okay I should move on to testing other games anyway :)

I love puzzles, I love terminal games, I love feeling like a cool spy. I was mystified until I read the tutorial below (I tried reading it in game but I couldn't scroll back up lol). Having it written on paper below the screens would be great since you can look around at your cave.

But anyway, this is definitely my favorite game so far this year, I played it for like a half hour, I would 100% play a full version of this with more of a story and more refined initial experience. Also I almost said "amazing work y'all" and then I saw that this is a compo game so I'm even more impressed. GREAT JOB!

Finnicky Fourier Toy by nathmate 2026-04-20T15:12:27Z

this is a really cool game! I can't get past the second level, it looks to me like I have it correct but ... red lights all around and no amount of slight tweaking was slight enough to get me there! in any case, I love Shenzhen I/O so I loved this. I played it for way longer than I intended. I mean, I did a bad job, but lol I had fun doing it!

Connect by BruceZoom 2026-04-20T14:22:48Z

Hey, this is really great! It takes an incremental game concept and turns it into something more complex. I liked that I had to redo my circuits several times to keep it going, and unlocking new areas was really cool too. One issue I found was that I really wanted to use arrow keys to navigate around the map, and I also was unable to see the top righthand corner after I unlocked the area to the left, so I couldn't access the computer there. But those small issues aside, this felt really polished for a jam game and I enjoyed playing it! Good work!

SOL by Smogobingo 2026-04-20T14:46:46Z

I tried a bunch of times to find the signal on the zoomed continent in level 2 and I could not find anything! I even zoomed in and basically pixel hunted but I could not see or hear any difference. Was I doing something wrong?

ECHOMAZE by pipetto 2026-04-20T15:47:41Z

So is the goal to navigate a maze in the dark? I was confused about all the options available to me, I didn't realize I could click the box until I was almost out of power, lol, and I wasn't totally sure what it did. and I started wandering before I saw that I had a map available, sooooo, I guess I'm the kind of person for whom they make tutorials :D This game has a really good vibe, though, and I like the music and pixel art!

Who I Once Was(旧我) by Lingzhao 2026-04-20T16:22:52Z

Hi! This seems interesting but I think you may have forgotten to upload your game!

WAVE by alextudor4273 2026-04-20T16:19:28Z

Hi so I really would like to play this but the embed isn't loading and you don't have a link to an itch page or something! I have never had any luck with the native embedding here, so I don't even try anymore, lol. Let us know when the game is working, I want to play with waves!

Lost Focus by Helslo 2026-04-20T14:28:31Z

Hi! Good job for your first LD! I think this is a really good concept, but I had such a hard time even leaving the first room. I was able to get a small area below me to become solid once it hit me after I jumped, but I was never able to get high enough to actually jump to the ledge. Surely I am doing something wrong, but I think it would be really helpful to see a screenshot on this page so that we can see how it's intended to work for the first room. Again - really good concept and would totally play a puzzle platformer with this mechanic!

Lost Focus by Helslo 2026-04-20T14:49:50Z

@helslo thank you! I think the fact is, I am not adept enough to successfully execute moves like that, lol. I think it will definitely help other people though!

ULTRA-RADAR by ZezinhoESR 2026-04-20T14:32:45Z

Great compo game! I love the concept, and found it super stressful to try to follow the radar to see who was trying to get me. The red background that showed up stuck around for the entire game which made it difficult to see what was going on, but overall this is nicely polished and complete for a compo game! Good work.
