Nicely done

owngamesgamer 2019-10-07 16:05

nice (the last screenshot)

kristinamay 2019-10-07 16:21

I don't have a windows machine and this is the first time I've been TRULY disappointed that I can't play an LD game - the art style is *fantastic* and the concept seems awesome.

owngamesgamer 2019-10-07 16:39

nice game but should have a full version on steam and douesnt work this great with the theme

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-07 16:44

@kristinamay I'm still trying to build for another platform. Thanks so much for the comment! <3

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-07 16:50

@owngamesgamer Our level design was very weak with the theme guidelines, so we decided to abandon it. =P Thank you so much for playing!

ekaterina 2019-10-07 17:05

Very cool done, I can imagine how in 2 days you can make so much content! Beautiful graphics and good lvl design, good work!

nikadra 2019-10-07 17:21

This game was absolutely incredible! Right from the get-go it was obvious how much work you put into the it, as even the main menu obviously had an insane amount of polish. The gamplay experience was excellent, and it blows me away how you essentially had the time to fit two different types of gameplay into this one game, let alone with a time limit this short. It was really fun walking around and exploring the different levels, combating enemies on the way, and I liked the story that was taking shape. I hope to see more of the game soon!

The artwork was phenomenal, varying both low detail and much higher detail pixel art, with amazing sprites and animations for everything. I also really liked the color scheme in the game, it fit great with the apocalyptic car survival feeling you had going on. Both the character, the enemies, and the environment felt vibrant and alive thanks to the amount of work that was put into their design. The 3D-effect was also fitting, and well implemented.

Both different kinds of gameplay-styles you had going on were awesome, and playing through them was a great amount of fun all the way through. The dungeon-crawler type gameplay was well-designed, and allowed for thorough exploration, which is always nice. The combat in said gameplay felt very fluent, and it was nice to see some different enemies with their own unique attack patterns. I also can't believe you managed to fit some creative level design in, full with puzzles and everything! The car section was a nice addition, adding some extra content in between levels for the player to enjoy. However, although it might just be me, the controls here felt a slight bit off. It was also a tad empty, but I feel like a jerk even saying that given how much content the rest of the game has. If some other aspect could be added gameplay-wise here, it would feel a bit more meaningful. That isn't to say it wasn't a good idea, and I definitely still liked it!

The music... oh man, it was great! Especially the boss-fight theme caught my attention when it first played, it was incredibly catchy and has been stuck in my head ever since. The fact that you also managed to have some variation even in this aspect blows me away even more. You obviously went all-in on each and every category of game-design. The other audio was really impressive too, with a lot of sounds for pretty much all kinds of interaction with the environment, including combat with the enemies.

I can't stress enough how much I enjoyed the overall experience of the game! Phenomenal job!

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-07 17:39

@ekaterina @nikadra In fact, we used part of a code we already had and used the time to develop the camera, dash, sword and shield features, enemies behavior, 2D Art, lvl, musics and the cursed juiceness! xD

thank you so much for playing!

valden 2019-10-07 22:29

Incredible work for a jam game. This game seems to have so much content put into it. The gaphics were extremely nice and everything felt very polished. Really well done.

(I'm a little bit sad because my playthrough ended when I clipped into a locked room with the dash and I couldn't get out)

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-07 23:03

@valden Thanks a lot! I'd like to know what moment this happened to fix. =/ Could you please play one more time and screenshot ? >< You'll help me so much! Thanks so much for playing!

hnkxobka 2019-10-07 23:47

Brilliant graphics, and it's made by GM! Bravo!

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-08 00:00

@hnkxobka Very Thank you! I love GMS2! xD

valden 2019-10-08 00:21

@gustavo-rocha It happened in a room in the bandit camp where there is 4 switches in small rooms and lights that you must avoid. A levers shoud open the rooms, but I clipped into one the room by simply dashing.

gabas 2019-10-08 01:44

@valden I tried to reproduce the error but couldn't, but I imagine it must have happened because of the arrangement of the walls, I will fix the lvl. Thank you so much for answering!

miu 2019-10-08 02:26

wow the art is really good, the overall experience was really worth it

brokenmirrormedia 2019-10-09 04:20

Hooooly crap this is so crazy how much is in this game! Sweet music, amazing pixel art, an animated menu system, upgrades, a super nice combat system, a freaking rotating world view, a mini map, built in tutorial cutscenes, so many mechanics, lighting, very satisfying driving, multiple levels, a boss fight... If you told me this was a fully released game I would 100% believe it. Stunning stuff here, I'm blown away, and you need to expand on this more, I'd love to play a fully fleshed out version of this! And if you don't mind me asking how on earth did you finish this on time? I can't imagine how much effort was put into it!

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-09 13:59

@brokenmirrormedia Thanks a lot!

Actually, we started from a code in development but, we had a crunch time! xD We used the jam to implement the combat system, 2D art, enemy behavior, camera, lvl, juiciness and two musics. Other 3 musics are by another project of mine. That's why I disabled audio voting.

Very, very thank you for playing!

jam373 2019-10-09 16:09

Would really like to try this one because it looks great but I'm having terrible performance with it. Game freezes after I press play.

tom-adams 2019-10-09 16:13

very nice! This is the most fleshed out game I've seen so far! love the art!

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-09 16:54

@jam373 Hi! The light feature is really heavy, in the startgame screen, go into OPTIONS and uncheck the LIGHT option. Thank you so much for downloading. Hope you can play and give me your feedback!

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-09 16:55

@tom-adams Thank you so much for playing!

ashashza 2019-10-09 16:59

Wow, I'm just as blown away as other comments by how much content and love there is in this jam. Stylish visuals, a menu system, a mini-map, a lighting/shadow system, crafting, solid combat, driving sequence. Wow.

I particularly loved the cut scene art, it made the main character feel so alive. The combat also felt really satisfying. A delightful surprise that I could time-parry back projectiles.

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-09 17:17

@ashashza Very, very thank you !!! My cousin helped us with the reference! xD model_roadout.png

wolfrug 2019-10-09 17:23

I mean, I gave it a high score, although it feels sliiightly unfair as there clearly already was an entire game here :-O There is no way you can make this much content over 72 hours. But I mean, it's incredibly polished and fun so - good on you, and good luck on the actual release of your game!

jaumemontagut 2019-10-09 18:36

Just by looking at it you can see there is an incredible amount of work put into making this game, and it's all worth it. Everything is combined nicely and gives a very good feel to the game, good job!

I especially enjoyed the car driving controls and would love to see more of that.

If I had to point something out (not necessarily bad), I'd say that I almost didn't rotate the camera. After finding the hidden switch I left it at that angle and went on with the game. I don't mean that the rotate camera function should be removed, but that I didn't find much incentive to rotate it.

Best of luck if you continue with the development!

huntrox 2019-10-09 19:46

best game i played in this jam so far i love the art the combat system and everything well done  its slow down sometimes rouduot.JPG

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-09 20:18

@wolfrug In fact, yes. We started from pre-existing code and some assets but, despite the effort put into this jam, I totally agree with you. We used the jam time to development a lot of content for our game. Our goal with the event was accelerate the work and playtest. Participating in the voting was not our priority. We loved all the feedbacks! Mainly yours! thank you so much for playing and for your comment!

aj-jones 2019-10-10 00:00

Game felt really great to play, visuals and music were fantastic, whole thing had a ton of polish. Only slight suggestion I have is to consider the always presenting at a diagonal, you move straight up/down/left/right, which runs you at corners. Also your map is standard cardinal directions, so its just a bit of a disconnect. Just one small suggestion, overall a great game!

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-10 00:44

@aj-jones We are very much in agreement with you! I implemented more 4 directions, now it's 4 isometric directions and 4 straight. We will also remove the location indications and the minimap would rotate along with the camera.

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-10 20:48

@jaumemontagut Indeed! I'd like to had created a level that would use this feature more. I'll introduce more moments that the camera rotation is better used. Thank you so much for playing!

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-10 21:23

@huntrox HI! Yeah man, I have to do some optimizations. The light and shadow feature is very heavy. Thank you so much for playing!

2019-10-23 16:43

Fun game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 45 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/ZxefAL2rBy8

gustavo-rocha 2019-10-27 17:48

@jupiter-hadley WOW!!! Thank you so much!!! I watched, enjoyed and now I follow you! Excellent job!!
