Mistral - Wave-based Survival Retro Game by Syndelis 2017-12-06T00:54:21Z
Loved the art, and the unique choice in programming. Gameplay is fun, only issue is how tight the hitboxes on the birds are, makes them tough to hit.

Love the art and concept, attack anims feel slightly offsync, but you adjust pretty quickly. Great job!
@DuzzOnDrums - If you scroll down on the itch page, there is a download link below the webplayer!
Really liked the game! Graphics reminded me of shovel knight/ enter the gungeon. Played really well and the "tutorial" was well implemented! Might be interesting to make it so if you miss, you don't get the health back.
Loved the art! Was such a cool idea for a interactive experience!
I enjoyed it, felt very calm. The white balls falling off for no reason was a bit frustrating though.
I liked the concpet, but it bugged out on me a few times, where i couldnt effect the input, and my character got stuck.
The idea of sacrificing yourself was pretty cool though!
I think the concept is pretty cool! What did you use to make it?
Really liked the aesthetic and gameplay, the camera was a little disorienting at times, on the menu as well.
@frostbyte4k not at all, still really enjoyed it! just something i thought you might want to know!
Really cool game! I liked the visual style and gameplay! One thing to note, it seems like the speed of the game is tied to the refresh rate. I by default am at 144hz, so the game was playing at over 2x speed. I knocked it down to 60hz, and i imagine thats what you intended it to feel like.
Liked this entry alot, always cool to see FPS entries (especially in the compo!). One suggestion for balance, would be some kind of stacking buff you get each time you capture an outpost. This could make it so its not viable to just stand and spam rockets at the tower, but you have to go fight the bots and collect the outposts to do enough dmg to the Blight Tower.
Liked the game, i think maybe adding a time limit or something could help make it a bit more "game-y".
Art was pretty cool! Liked the concept of the gameplay, but I agree with the comment on the itch page, you can kind of just jump over everything and head for the boss. But overall really cool!
I liked the game a bunch, reminded me of the Cat Mario game that was popular a couple years back. The music being so calm was pretty funny against the game. Only tip I'd have is to maybe make the background less repeating so its a bit simpler to mentally mark where obstacles are.
This is awesome! Such a great idea!
Awesome entry! Played really well and was a cool spin on a classic game! Only suggestion would be to try to develop your own visual style (even though i love the downwell influence!) and really make this your own!
Awesome idea to keep you figuring out the best way of who to sacrifice!
@pandanym thanks for checking it out! Appreciate the feedback! What was your high score?
@pandanym and @mortifix try the full screen, i've noticed alot of issues when movements would be carried off screen
@norfma Try using the Fullscreen option, sometimes on itch, if your mouse goes out of the window, it can cause some weird input response.
@peachtreeoath thanks for the kind words!
Great game! Controls were difficult in a fun way!
I liked the concept alot, really on theme!
Really liked the concept, reminded me of katamari! I ran into a bug though, the tornado ended early, and then the game closed shortly after.
Nice work on setting up cutscenes and different parts of the gameplay. The graphics were simple but effective. My one suggestion would be to speed up the non playable parts, and make the text a bit easier to read.
Game was awesome! Really liked the whole aesthetic, and gameplay. Could be a bit more difficult, but awesome nonetheless!
Had a bunch of fun running around and shooting up the enemies, enjoyed the soundtrack, it fit well with the game!
Such a great use of the theme! Really liked the whole presentation, the menus, and graphics were great! Like others have said, i ran into a couple issues with the hitboxes(maybe shrink them down on the spikes), and a corpse moving out of the way when i landed on it(maybe make them immobile on death?), but great nonetheless!
Great game! Reminded me of Furi. Played extremely well, only issues i had were related to webgl on itch, nothing on your end at all!
Great execution on the merging of Issaac and Slay the Spire. Enjoyed the visuals and gameplay!
Really like the use of light with the concept, well done!
I like the tinkering with things to figure it out, but a bit of explanation would help a lot. Great job though!
Great job, really unique entry, was great to play something that was a lot different. Fantastic work
Definitely a new take on the theme, really enjoyed that. Only small bug I encountered was if you deny the help at the beginning it takes quite a while before it can reset and allow the game to progress.
Hey just as a heads up, the WebGl seems to freeze anytime you try to play.
Graphics are fantastic, dug the music, love the whole theme, only suggestion i would have is to possibly allow for sideways attack, as that could help out a lot.
Game was awesome!
Reminded me a lot of Agar.io
Really liked the whole thing, great job!
Game seems really cool, a little visually busy which can make it tough to identify things. Maybe shrink the size of the muzzle flashes.
Favorite game I played this jam, felt extremely polished and fun to play!
@linear thanks for the thoughtful and well explained suggestions, I have a patch that I'll be uploading within the next day or two with UI elements for health and progress(although I'll want to take a look into doing the virtual corners like you suggested) Also we changed the enemy speed scaling to be a bit more forgiving. I'll play with the sound settings as well. Thanks again!
The visuals were fantastic!
Felt a bit sluggish to play, but was well made. Would suggest tightening up movement a little bit, but great job!
Was tough to walk around and grab parts, but once I started driving it felt much better, until it spun out and i was unable to control.
I love that you guys decided to just make a game on the theme you liked, i was hoping for Unconventional travel as well. Game felt great to play and had an awesome vibe!
Roguelike is a great utilization of the theme! Game ran well, only bug I encountered was a goblin being inside a wall. Sound effects would help a ton, and a bit more dmg on the enemies, as I dont think I ever got hit! But great work!
Game felt really good to play, reminded me a lot of nuclear throne! Liked the visuals a whole lot!
Really unique concept, i liked how everything upgraded with each new graphics card, including the music. Controls are a bit frustrating, seems like they are a bit floaty. The webgl version had elements out of the screen unless you made it full screen, which is something to note.
I liked the controls, very reminiscent of agario. Ran into an issue where dashing wasnt killing enemies though which was strange.
Loved the mood of the game! I think it would benefit from tightening up the jump a bit, but great job!
Really like the visual feel, but some of the gameplay itself felt a bit slow and akward.
Shows a lot of work for one dev! Keep at it, seems like you have skills across the board!
Game felt really great to play, visuals and music were fantastic, whole thing had a ton of polish. Only slight suggestion I have is to consider the always presenting at a diagonal, you move straight up/down/left/right, which runs you at corners. Also your map is standard cardinal directions, so its just a bit of a disconnect. Just one small suggestion, overall a great game!
I liked it, felt really polished and solid to play!
I really liked the experience, great job!
Great work on this entry! One small note, the text is extremely hard to read on the mixed background like that, adding an outline would probably help a lot.
Great work, visuals and presentation were solid. I think i may have had a bug, almost sounded like the music was playing twice over itself.
But well done!
Nice work, crisp visuals that remind me of a bunch of flash games! Like others have said, tightening and speeding up movement would be something to consider.
Really like the presentation on this game, the graphics were fantastic!
Really liked the art style! Only recommendation would be some slight audio variation in enemy death, and a way to reload the game.
Interesting idea for the jam! I think the concept is really solid, and you could probably flesh this one out into a more complete game!
This is incredibly well polished for a jam entry! Visuals are fantastic, and the whole concept is executed really well!
Fun game! Felt really solid, and had a clear explanation of how to play! Couple little audio hiccups, but to be expected on webgl.
Only reccomendation would be to allow UI navigation with the keyboard, since your player is using it for all other controls.
Great job, simple concept executed really well!
Really cool entry, unique from most of the others! Had the card disappearing glitch that others have mentioned. Audio was really nice as well!
I liked the presentation, but the wall select mode freaked out on me a couple times. Don't quite see the theme on this one, but the vibe was cool!
Really fun idea! Played really well in browser, only small issue i ran into was being blocked from leaving a room by an NPC waiting in the doorway.
I like that you made something different than many of the submissions, whole aesthetic was really cool!
Great job, really like the concept of a sheriff tackling people to capture them.
I like the mood of this game a lot. The first enemy might be a little quick, but introduces you to the one hit kill that sets the tone for the game, well done!
Really unique take on the theme! Can definitely say that I've never played a game quite like this one!
Great job, way to take a classic concept and turn it on its head, was pretty fun!
I really like the flat shading and the grain! Completely broke when I died, maybe take a look at how you are reloading the scene?
Great job, audio and visuals were on point and controls were pretty solid once i got the hang of it!
Nice work, plays really cleanly and didn't encounter any bugs, nice art as well!
I think this is one of the more ambitious entries I've played so far. One thing that would help immensely is feedback from interactions. Noises on button presses or something similar would help a ton to clarify when you are actually doing things.
Nice work! Really relaxing and enjoyable game!
Good controls! Felt responsive and predictable which was great! Nice work!
Really liked the art and music, the fast forward button was a great addition! Overall great job!
I agree with others, great idea for the theme, but a bit more explanation and tighter controls would help a ton!
Nice to see another entry with a giant hole in the ground! Like the relaxing vibe.
Loved the vibe of this game, audio and lighting really did a lot to sell it. Really well done!
Really fun concept! Not sure if the timer is meant to be that fast, or if it may be a refresh rate issue, but 1 in game second was about a half of a real second.
Great work! One of the best, and most polished jam entries I've played! Really liked the graphics and audio, and the gameplay loop was simple and satisfying!
Really like the art, and the movement is extremely satisfying! Nice work!
A lot of solid work in this one! The controls were a little inconsistent (and mislabeled on your Itch page) but great work nonetheless!
Well done on this entry! Great execution on a puzzle game! One small thing that could help a lot would be hotkeys to select the various tiles. Fantastic work!
Concept is really intriguing. Like others have said, audio would be a huge help, and maybe tightening up the controls a bit, but well done!
Really well done! I like the concept and gameplay, only small suggestion would be to look into the missile not moving if the aimer is 180 degrees away from it.
Great work on the presentation of this game. The menus, visuals and audio all work really well together. The control felt a bit floaty at times, and I had one moment where interaction stopped working, but overall great job!
Presentation and aesthetic were amazing! I'd take a look at volume levels and a way to quit the game, and its done!
I like the game concept a lot! Great idea for keeping the party alive!
Nice work, wasn't expecting a rhythm game but was pleasantly surprised. I'd take a look at your input polling though, many times keystrokes seemed to be lost.
