LD30 — Connected Worlds

IDC by Aiursrage2k 2014-08-26T18:12:00

I like the graphics, and the idea is neat. I could see playing this a lot and getting to a point where orienting the planets is second nature. My only suggestion has to do with the ease of the game. I left it running for a few minutes to see what happens, and it basically played itself for me. Maybe if the middle planet were larger, it would obscure the satellite planets? Good job overall though.

PLANETOID by Kortuga 2014-08-25T04:46:00

I really like the look and feel. I found myself wanting to complete the game to see what happens.

Star Bridger by xhunterko 2014-08-26T18:10:00

Nice idea. I would like to see some penalty for making the bridges too large, or some other restriction. As it is, the game is very easy. I like the graphics- simple but crisp.

Reflections by Parabol 2014-08-27T23:41:00

Nice idea, nice graphics, nice feel. I like the idea and I like the dangling lantern. Slow smooth feel.

What Could Possibly Go Wrong? by Andrew Shouldice 2014-08-27T22:46:00

This is the best game I have seen so far for LD 30. I love the feel, the graphics, the chaotic combat, and the humor. Nice "juicy" feedback. I think the best part is the hair though. Nice touch.

Solar War by Reyn 2014-08-27T23:19:00

Fun game. I like the graphics, the feel, and the multiplayer concept. Very literal interpretation of the theme, but nothing wrong with that.

The Device by Hendri 2014-08-26T18:17:00

Nice little game. Because it is an exploration game, I would like to see some more visual interest and variety in the visuals, even if it is just additional textures. Of course, I understand the time restrictions.

Planetarium by Rasmus Dyhr Larsen 2014-08-26T18:23:00

I like the idea, although I found it a little confusing as to why I died. I guess it is on a timer? Perhaps having a little life-bar or time limit would give the player more feedback. I like the idea of floating around in this pleasant space.

Divided We Fail by ninjascript 2014-08-27T22:49:00

That was a fun game. I like the graphics, and I like the juxtaposition of the robot and the little girl, pretty cute and funny. It was challenging to control both at the same time.

When Worlds Collide by OfficialDingbat 2014-08-27T23:46:00

Very cool. I liked smashing planets. I liked the thruster graphics. The enemies are tough, but I had a good time roaming around and shooting things. I tried to throw a planet into the sun, but it didn't seem to hurt the planet, the enemies, or my ship. I couldn't figure out how to dis-engage my ship from a planet, though.

Trade routes by Shivur 2014-08-27T22:41:00

I like the idea, I like the graphics, and I like the details. A little tutorial or explanation would be nice though-- It was hard to tell what I was supposed to do.

Parallel Rift by liquidminduk 2014-08-27T22:37:00

Very nice, Good concept, nice graphics. Kind of hard to tell why I died the first few times. I like the character and the feel.

Uninhabitable by Slikker 2014-08-27T23:36:00

I like it. Good graphics, nice idea, nice feel. Ambitious concept. I appreciated the little touches, like the ground tiles being at slightly different heights and the grass growing between the tiles. Controls are a little too fluid, and the camera to exacting, and it would be nice to have a run button. Minor complaints though.

One thing I don't understand is-- why is the planet uninnhabitable? Did I miss something? Did the government cut corners? Is there something nefarious going on? Seems like a major oversight on their part.

Pocket Planets by ChezPain 2014-08-27T22:51:00

Neat idea. Its funny to think of a planet going around fighting. I would like to see some visual representation of what is happening when you fight, especially the nukes.

Under World by tiff 2014-08-26T18:07:00

Very nice. The controls are reasonably under control, and the art is neat. More variation on the environment would be nice, and the enemies look very simple considering how nice the background is. I get a blue block on the left of the screen when I start, is that intentional?

Solar System Builder by Atuuh 2014-08-27T23:11:00

Awesome look and feel. I like the idea, and I love the sun. I found it hard to click on asteroids, and a little unintuitive to direct asteroids to planets to gain resources. I liked just moving around and seeing the objects though.

Overpopulated by CoolIron 2014-08-27T23:03:00

Neat game. I love the idea of going between the planets. I wanted to play more, but it is really hard to control the ship when it is out in space. It looks like the "w" key moves forward according to the local orientation of the ship, which is very difficult to see when the ship is very small. If the "wasd" keys were globally oriented, it would be a lot easier to play.

Junguntur by Fazz 2014-08-27T23:25:00

I like it. I thought I was supposed to connect all of the objects at first, but I figured out that there are only two planets reasonably quickly. It was frustrating in the way puzzle games often are-- but it was satisfying to click and make a whole section of the board light up, and it was rewarding to win the level.

Lands 101 by thecatamites 2014-08-27T22:56:00

Nice. I like games that expression something real and personal. The sound effect for the stick in the puddle is rather crazy.

Crystalbots: T-94 wants colors by rynti 2014-08-27T22:36:00

Nice, lots of fun. Solid controls, nice simple graphics. Feels like a complete game.

RymdPlasma by DalsGames 2014-08-26T18:18:00

Nice game-- I like the idea. It was a little hard to know which direction to go, but the concept of guiding a ship by placing planets is really neat.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Something Magical by wasd 2020-04-23T05:57:34Z

One of my favorite games so far. Graphics and feel are very nice. It's a bit like an incremental game, seeing the numbers increase. I would have liked to have more choice with upgrades, like maybe you have to sacrifice one upgrade path for another... but on the other hand I had a good time just making plants in a low-stakes experience. I went for the 3600 plants. In the release version maybe there could be some force trying to destroy the forest, and it would bring the game more in line with the jam's theme. But in the end I'm nitpicking a game I really enjoyed.

Keep It Undead by pcmaster 2020-05-01T15:28:54Z

I really like this idea, and I like the art style. I think I would have wanted more juiciness; some kind of pleasing feedback for your actions. Currently everything moves very slowly and you spend the level listening to people cough, which isn't the most pleasnt thing. The concept has potential as a mobile game though, with some time.

XCAPE by Frozen Stick 2020-04-30T06:31:13Z

I would like to try the game, but unfortunately for now I have to report a bug instead. I'm trying it on Windows 10, and I can't get passed the start menu. I can more up and down, but I can't select anything using any button or the mouse.

Burned by the Poi by Risist 2020-04-22T04:41:45Z

Great feeling! The drums got you hyped. I would like the two modes to be much much different from one another, it wsn't obvious what was happening with the toches at first. But overall, the graphics, audio and gameplayer were visceral.

What A Dig Move by zgragselus 2020-04-23T08:28:39Z

Very nice. Visually interesting, and good idea for a chill game. I was pretty into it. It's a little hard to tell what it going to happen but that's ok. This kind of idea is what makes LD so cool, just exploring a small interaction space.

Sheep Sheep Halloumi by Dining Philosopher 2020-04-23T16:02:55Z

This is a great idea for an LD game. It's simple but fun. The only thing I want is more feedback when I click, some kind of nice crisp sound and particle effect would make the game feel better. Nice Marble Madness aesthetic.

Faclive by zampi 2020-05-02T16:02:01Z

Very fun! I love this kind of game, and I think you captured the fun puzzle solving in programming by keeping the options simple and the program size limited. I wish there were more levels! I would have played for much longer given the chance.

ADRENA-LINE by managore 2020-04-23T15:42:05Z

I like this style, nice and coherent puzzle game. I think LD games with a simple idea and a lot of polish are usually the best ones. I've see a number of games where the theme tie-in is to keep the player avatar alive, which I don't think is quite in the spirit of it but the game stands alone as a cool experience anyway. Well done.

Useless Machines Inc. by herniewise 2020-04-22T04:53:08Z

Great idea. It has a Portal feel to it. Atmosphere is good, I like the idea of a little puzzlebox like the Room games and Bop-it, or Keep Talking and Nbody Explodes. Others have said this, but the player isn't led easily to their goals. Overall, well done!

A Night In The Dark by lectvs 2020-05-02T07:08:39Z

I really like where this is going. It's like a little puzzlebox to figure out, with some unfolding as it goes. I want it to be like A Dark Room, where it continues to unfold to more and more interesting things. I would 100% buy a game like this if it got wierder and had environmental story telling.

Adrift by cdunham 2020-05-07T00:55:12Z

Very cool. Physics games are fun, and I liked having several different elements. Its especially fun that the rocks are effected by other elements.

Keep It Alight! by Zachary Burkett 2020-04-22T05:10:38Z

Very cute, reminds me of Doodle Jump, which is nostalgic. A little more control over the character's jump height would help-- because the height is always the same as the platform height, it's very hard to lose. I'd like to see some more obstacles-- more challenge overall.

MACHINA by Harry Alissavakis 2020-04-23T15:21:32Z

Very nice. I like this kind of LOS control-- actually our game for this LD uses LOS and wall manipulation so I"m predisposed to like your game!

But I'd like it anyway, spot-on audio and visuals. Interesting but simple card game design. I'd like to be able to play a move card, otherwise it feels like my character should be a mainframe that can use security lasers instead of a person that can't walk for some reason. As others have said, too much text by far. But those are small critiques, overall I loved it.

Сharon-don-don by Royoyo 2020-04-23T15:36:55Z

Very interesting idea. I like LD games that take place in one screen, and games about the underworld. I think others have pointed out that the game is confusing, I found this to be true. Maybe it was explained in text, but it should be explained visually. A hierarchy of information on the board would help-- where do I go first? Where do I go second? What are the consequences of my actions? This is tough for LD games that are as conceptual as this one-- people get platforms immediately but you have rules to explain. Also, I'd love to see particles when the boat is moving. Moving the boat is the primary action-- the game would feel much better if that action felt interesting or was interesting to watch. Overall a really solid entry, well done.

Little Chopper by Jakub Gonera 2020-04-22T05:33:38Z

I'm a sucker for games that take place on a sphere, and I think that the warmth mechanic is a nice simplification of the survival genre. The music was a little disjointed to me, since its a game about not freezing to death but it sounds fun. It did give the game a pace though. I'd love to have seen more visualization of the temperature, like the screen getting bluer. Also, it's best not to assume that players will know what to do-- I never figured out how to use the ax unfortunately.

Good idea though, and clean presentation. Lot's of potential.

LD46_Charger by Talia 2020-04-23T06:08:48Z

Atmosphere is top notch. It's got it's own little feel. I love the music. Overall, I really like this one. I would have liked a more puzzle-y feel to fit with the mood, but that's largely me just wishing there was more of this to play. I agree with other critiques saying that there could have been more tutorialization, but it wasn't too bad for me.

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-23T07:59:54Z

Nice art, and I love the idea of a clicker for Ludum Dare. I would have liked to have slight pictch variations in the clicking sound every click so that its not the same sound every time. Also, something more crisp might be more satisfying, it was a little jarring after a while. Overall very cool and very well made.

Leap Of Faith by ryan123rudder 2020-04-22T15:45:26Z

I had a good time with this one. It's real silly, and the music does a good job telling the player that this is going to be light-hearted. I was surprised and had a little laugh when I fell in the toilet and that counted as being in water. The only issue I had was that it feels good to interact with a game, and you aren't able to interact with your fish for much of the time you spend in the game, because the little guy is so bouncy and you can only launch him when he is still. I'd like to be able to launch him when he is still moving a little, to get something more crazy and fast-paced. But hey, you know what they say about people in glass houses... with fish launching through them... This is a nice, coherent, fun little game, well done.

What the Shell by Andreas Roschal 2020-04-22T03:31:58Z

Very polished, well done. It's frantic and you don't want those little turtle friends to get taken. I'd like the towers to be more bombastic maybe, but that's a small critique. Well done.

Noble by SludgeKey 2020-04-22T15:25:07Z

Really interesting idea. I'd love to have some of the backend info that you mention be exposed! This is like a chunk of content that would be integrated into a larger game, which is pretty interesting.

My shrotest run was a family that had two kids, who then just got old and died and the game ended, which was kind of funny.

As others have mentioned, some kind of interaction would make it more of a game. Jesse Schell defined games as "a problem-solving activity, approached with a playful attitude." Even if there is no end goal, I really wanted to match characters together to have them cross-breed. I understand that this was made in 3 days of course, and honestly it's very cool and very polished. Well done!

Stranded by notnullnotvoid 2020-04-23T06:47:39Z

I like the idea of taking a game like Don't Starve and making just the very core of it. It took a while to figure out what to do, it would help to lead the player more. It's also very hard, I got to the battery but couldn't get it back.

I really like the art style and the mood. Having the dark encroaching on my light and the monsters close in was very stressful. I wanted to save my little dude.

Nice thematic and engaging game.

Friendly Fire by very dark lord 2020-04-24T03:57:47Z

Really epic adventure! I had a lot of fun going through the world and experiencing the story!

Ars Pandemonic by leon75 2020-05-07T04:06:52Z

I very much like the graphics- the enemies, the attack effect. Very nice

Wheels of Rage: Enter the Scrapstorm by Gunnbju 2020-04-23T08:21:22Z

Very cool idea. I like games where just moving slightly left is an ability. It makes you have to think strategically. I felt that I didn't have too much control overall though, I saw that you mentioned not having time to tune it-- very much understood. Solid entry overall.

platformEGG by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-04-30T06:21:26Z

Very nice little platformer. My only desire would be the ability to throw the egg using space. Since jumping and throwing are mutually exclusive, I'd like to have space be the general action button for either state.

Overall though, great entry. I especially like the music and the sweet cross fade.

Remember, Apollo by AdamCYounis 2020-04-23T06:24:09Z

Very very nice. Our theme idea was also keeping her memory alive!

Nice story, nice implementation. I liked the tension and release, and the feeling of the movement. It reminded me of Celeste.

I love this type of looping story. I did want to see another revelation on the second time through, but maybe I missed something. You should build this out, add even more nice visceral particles and more story, and release it on mobile.

Manifest Destiny by SaltFactory Studio 2020-04-29T04:48:07Z

I like this art style. The rocks are nice and the characters are adorable. It's a really good concept for an LD game as well. My favorite strategy was to flank the enemies and draw their fire while hopping around. J is an awkward key for shoot, having it mapped to a few keys might be a good idea. J, space, and left click maybe, and then let the player decide.

King's Table by PetTurtle 2020-04-23T16:14:38Z

Very cool idea. I love seeing chess-inspired games. The only critique I have is that it felt like I had to wait to get more towers, it's more fun to give the player more stuff to play with. I understand that this may have been a balancing issue though. Graphics have a nice feel. I would love to have some chill music on top. I would play this on mobile if it were built out.

Fever by Analog Limb 2020-05-01T05:47:32Z

I really like the art. This is a nice, small, coherent experience, which I really appreciate in an LD game. I think I had some interaction issues-- pressing "e" near my brother locked the game before I got the shovel, and I couldn't interact with him at all after I got it, even after removing the shovel. But I get the just of the experience so it's not a big deal.

More and more I'm into this low-poly art style. The higher detail in the terrain didn't quite fit the rest of the objects though. This style always makes me think of The Witness, which made light but effective use of normal maps to imply detail.

Whisper of the Flame by Zachary Rodrigue 2020-05-01T15:23:11Z

Very competent platformer with pleasant art. I like games with a HUD, where things like life are displayed on the character.

Cthulhu: The Cult Must Not Die by LaserPanzerWal 2020-04-29T05:03:18Z

Very cool. I love the idea and the art. Nice animation too. I think it would benefit from much quicker attacks-- it would feel nice to have quick and responsive controls. This has potential though.

As a quick bug report-- I had a collision issue which pushed me quickly some yards towards the center where I fell off the level.

Keep it burning! by Kevin Meissner 2020-04-23T07:44:25Z

This feels like a vertical slice of a larger survival game, which is cool. Good atmosphere, and with upgrades and achievements it has the trappings of a complete project.

For feedback, I'd point to games like Minecraft. Whne you use your pickax, it hits almost immediately. Any delay where the player is waiting to be able to do something feels bad. Also, good games are a series of interesting choices-- give us more choices!

That being said, I think this is more complete and polished than most entries, and has a nice feel.

Dreadful Sanity - A Ludum Dare Game Jam Game by misterG420 2020-04-22T05:04:17Z

I liked the mood and the art. It was well-scoped for a game jam. Creepy. I wanted more of a puzzle, finding clues about where to use items, and I'm not 100% sure if I saw everything. I drove away but I never saved the dude. It wasn't clear where I could click-- if clicking the bottom right of the screen goes back, then the collider should cover the whole bottom right and not just a part.

But overall, it's actually a very cool and atmospheric game. Nice!

Mycelium by BlobRoss 2020-04-23T07:06:44Z

Very well done. Graphics, juiciness, theme, palette, all amazing.

It was a little annoying to get caught on your shrooms when walking around, and the concept took a minute to grasp. Other than that, I wanted to see the game transcend somehow-- a boss, or you can start making new mother mushrooms. Really, I just want to see more. I want this to be a full game. You should be proud.

to Leave by 5imon 2020-04-29T04:56:25Z

This is exceptional. I love the idea, the graphics, and the audio. But, like many other reviewers, I found it to be very difficult to understand what I was supposed to actually do. This has potential as an actual game.

Protect_the_Dog by qerkes 2020-04-23T06:30:53Z

I like the art, it is unusual and intriguing. I think everyone is emotionally invested in protecting a dog. I want to see really bombastic particles when you hit things! A nice sound effect as well. Make it feel real good.

Also, once I figured out how shooting worked, I wished that the player was just shooting all the time. There is no reason to stop, so why make the player hold a button down? It might seem small but it helps hand strain.

This is a cool entry, its a good start to what could be a sweet John Wick style game with lots of fighting robots and lasers.

ChargeMe by WMute 2020-04-22T05:44:44Z

Very nice graphics, it's like a vertical slice of something that could be very cool. I like games that feel physical, like playing with a diorama. I would love to see particles here-- sucking in the wood, sparks when charging. I couldn't get the recycler to stay alive unfortunately.

Stay Alive! by Hoseccan 2020-04-22T15:50:16Z

I like this one. It reminds me of Doom, Dune, and some other game that I just can't remember the dang name of. It was a really weird first-person game kind of like Oddworld.

This game creates a little world with the graphics and setting, and it's intriguing, like a whole story could be taking place behind it. The gun especially raises questions.

I'd love to have an indication of when the gun is charged, or be able to either click or click and hold.

Garbage Cat by Matthew Bond 2020-05-07T03:18:37Z

Cat games are always worth checking out :)

Tumbleweed by Brenan 2020-04-23T08:11:11Z

Very impressive. Good use of environmental materials, lights, emissive textures, and post processing.

If I had a critique, it would be that reading a poem while getting shot by lasers was a little incongruent. I would have liked to have seen a melancholy exploration of the remains of a crashed alien ship. Also, I feel that just keeping your avatar alive is a little besides the theme.

That being said, the poem was great, visuals were spot on. I'd play this if it were a full game. I'd play anything you make if this game is any indication. Amazingly well made.

Trappy Dungeon by Potato Bot 2020-04-22T05:28:02Z

I had a good time-- I can see your inspirations for this style of game. It could have been annoying but since it lets you restart levels quickly I wanted to get to the end. I think that spike traps should have allowed you to jump out, but in the end that's a small concern. Overall I had fun with it, well done.

My Mother is a Caravan? by Gideonnf 2020-04-30T06:27:17Z

I really like this one. Everything is moving just a bit, makes it feel dynamic. It's overall amazingly polished for an LD game. I'd like to see quicker, more fluid combat, but it would only bother me if this were a game from Steam. I love the concept.

Egg's Eggsoddus by Nothingness 2020-04-23T16:28:21Z

The fact that previous splatted eggs stay on the level... that is good game design. I'm being tongue-in-cheek, but that is the kind of thing that makes a game. I really enjoyed this, well done.

LostFarm by kukuzhang 2020-04-22T05:24:09Z

Nice music, art, and atmosphere.

STRAND·ED by S J Palmer 2020-04-22T18:18:54Z

I like this one a lot, it may be my favorite LD46 game so far. Clean presentation, good idea, interesting mechanics. It did take me a bit to figure out, but then I didn't do the tutorial so it's more my fault. Once you see that you can fix things up in a queue it becomes less frantic, at first I was trying to figure out how to fix the DNA right at the end only.

This is what I want to see-- keyboard support. Pressing left and right and then space to flip would make the interaction much cleaner and would allow people to input commands very quickly. I could see someone getting really good with the keyboard and going through DNA like a DDR pro. Well done!

Abu by TheRunawayRagdoll 2020-04-22T05:13:30Z

Unfortunately, the game does not play. I believe that the issue is that not everything that is created when you do a Unity build is included here-- there should be a folder called "Abu_Data". You should re-upload! I would like to try the game.

Monster Apocalypse by Abiral 2020-04-22T05:38:02Z

Very cute, I like the banana gun. Graphics are clean, the controls are smooth. I'd like to have more sound effects, and much more challenge. Maybe an upgrade with a short burst of machine-gun bananas.

Flu flee fight by A-retry 2020-04-22T05:15:39Z

Unfortunately, the game does not run. I believe that the issue is that not all of the files and folders that Unity creates during a build are included-- you have only uploaded the .exe. I'd love to play the game if you re-upload with everything zipped together.

The Dark Cave by Tom Stephenson 2020-04-23T07:51:24Z

It's Limbo meets Thomas Was Alone meets Dark Echo!

Very cool, and coherent feeling. I would like to see more puzzles, more careful movement, more in general! As a critique, it felt like the player is supposed to pay attention to the noise they make, but both staying on the ground and jumping made noise. The spider wasn't too smart. I liked the feeling and the concept. I don't think that it fit the theme especially well.

God Simulator: Mountain Edition by MartinTale 2020-04-23T00:46:42Z

I like the idea of an idle game for Ludum Dare. I also like the physical representation of your progress. Idle games are largely about numbers going up, and here you actually get to see that. The fun part of idle games for me is understanding and managing systems to break through exponential barriers. Clicker Heros and Kittens Game do this best.

I'd like to see this built out with more detail and more complex systems. Maybe you start with a tiny tiny tower so that reaching the sky is more impressive.

In any case, this is a neat entry, well done.

Across the Lake by stephan steinbach 2020-04-29T05:14:04Z

I don't have much to say here except that this is my highest rated game. It is a perfect concept for an LD game.

Viruses by Gonzalo 2020-05-01T15:38:26Z

I like the idea. It's interesting to try to let in some things, bounce some things, and shoot some things. There is a lot to balance, which makes it interesting to manage. I always prefer games that let you just hold the shoot button instead of clicking over and over. Also, the green dudes appear to do damage whenever they are on screen, but there was no visual indication of this, which meant that I died the first time having no idea why, which doesn't feel great. When there are six green dudes on the screen it makes it very hard to live-- they seem like an enemy that should be used sparingly. Overall though, it' s a nice, coherent and fun experience.

Apopecalypse by weil 2020-04-22T15:39:28Z

I really like the art style, and I had a good time once I got used to the controls. Others have mentioned, but you really need to be careful and use both forward and back to control your speed. This wouldn't be an issue, but I think that the two jet engines and nice particles communicate to the player that this is a game where you go fast all the time. Something interesting to think about-- what the visuals tell the player about how they are supposed to act. Either way, I did enjoy it, well done!

Trench by CosmoJao 2020-04-22T05:14:14Z

Unfortunately, the link does not work. I would like to play if you re-upload.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Tourist Trap by Junber 2021-04-27T18:31:14Z

I tried running the game on Windows 10, unfortunately it brings up the window with the Godot logo, and then immediately closes without an error message or anything. I don't know if it is a common issue or if it's just me. If it is fixed, feel free to @ me in a comment and I will come back and review the game.

Tourist Trap by Junber 2021-04-27T23:18:27Z

@junber no worries, these things happen. I will check out the game.

Tourist Trap by Junber 2021-04-28T01:46:00Z

Good idea and tutorialization. Some things, like the fact that you can call waves early, should be shown visually instead of just through text. Graphics are simple but nice, same with the audio. I didn't see a huge amount of strategy, but it was a solid base for a tower defense. I like the idea of a ghost running around scaring tourists and laying traps. I'd like to see lots of particles effects and quicker movement to give the player more feedback and visual interest.

Alcheminer by Joror 2021-04-29T05:58:55Z

Really cool idea here, especially the concept of dealing with bubbles and other fluid mechanics issues. It would be helpful in this kind of game to get a lot of visual feedback about what is going on in your pipes, like pointing out the specific issues you are having-- it was a little tough to understand when to use valves for instance. Music was well-chosen and chill. I don't have much feedback other than to say congrats on executing an interesting concept.

The Deepest Threat by Goutye 2021-04-28T19:19:18Z

I like games where the player is hands off like this. It is like a simple version of Clicker Heros 2. I find that it is very satisfying in a game when you can make a build; it's a way to express yourself when you can make choices about hwo you want your character to act. I'd love to see an attack animation with a nice plesant sound effect-- if there was sound I wasn't able to hear it. There were some minor issues, like monster spawning behind scenery, which isn't a big deal. What I would like to see from this game would be a few more inventory slots, and then the ability to combine abilities on different slots to create synergies-- that kind of planning and decision making can be a lot of fun. Very cool idea!

I dreamed of Matriochkas in Paris by Sirkovitch 2021-04-29T00:14:15Z

After opening the first door, I couldn't figure out where to go or what to do next. The game looks really beautiful and I would like to review it, but I don't know how to proceed. Am I missing something or perhaps it is a bug?

I dreamed of Matriochkas in Paris by Sirkovitch 2021-04-29T15:36:12Z

@sirkovitch Yup, I was just being an idiot. I did think that I'd tried the door, but I guess not. I do think that the communication to the player in the game could be improved if the game were to be continued in the future. Visuals are awesome; as a 3D modeler myself, I see this type of game and I wish I'd made it myself. The sketch feel makes it seem like a memory. The moving foliage and trees add a lot to the experience, and the use of light is really nice. The light in the water becoming the lamppost light-- I love that stuff.

Manic Miner by ryannielson 2021-04-28T01:35:38Z

That was pretty fun. The sound effects were pleasant and made me smile, especially breaking the stone blocks. It's a simple idea, but effective and tense. Has some Downwell vibes, which is always a good thing. Seems like something you would play on an early handheld device, or maybe a T1-83 calculator, nice retro vibes.

GriDelve by fixxel 2021-04-30T16:08:00Z

I love the art here. It all works together well, and the character and monster design is super cool. I'm always glad to see a turn-based, grid-based game in LD. I'd love to have some abilities, but what is there is solid. The only disconnect that I see is that there is no difference between facing forward and facing backwards. That means that, technically, there is no reason to turn more than one step in any direction, since one turn to the right is the same as three turns to the left. I'd love to see some stylized shader effects applied here to see what it looks like, maybe the Stylizer asset if this is the Standard pipeline, to get an illustrated effect. Just musing though, super cool entry, well done.

The Little Boring Drill by deathray 2021-04-28T06:10:04Z

Really nice idea here. I could see building and managing a drill while just idly watching it dig. However, in the current game it is very hard to understand what is happening-- you can use any component right from the start, but it doesn't tell you what they do until you add them. Once you add them and turn them on, nothing happens. am I gaining money to use? Do I have resources of some kind? If the game were explained more, it has a lot of potential. Overall, nice art and cool idea, I would play an updated idle game based on this idea.

The Rim by jokerbomb 2021-04-28T15:32:42Z

The game creates a little world to live in for a while, which I appreciate. The story reminds me a bit of the crater in one of the Fallout games. Controls are responsive and simple, graphics are interesting and stylized. My feedback would be that there are times when monsters can shoot you from inside walls, or from outside the screen, which is frustrating. Also, it's usually not a good idea to make players click repeatedly to shoot. You could just hold down mouse to shoot, for example, and create less strain on player's hands. The character art was very nice, and the music was appropriate. Well done!

Fallen Shovel by silkworm_sweatshop 2021-04-29T04:15:29Z

Quality experience, well put together. A bit of a mixture of Shovel Knight and Downwell. Sounds effects and music are good, and thematically consistant with the graphics. I felt a little betrayed hearts became bad in Lust, but I ended up like the idea-- overall going through these different environments provides nice variety. The scope is impressive for such a short time. The tutorialization through an area that you need to understand the controls in order to leave is clever. I don't have a lot of critiques really-- just here to say that this is nicely done.

Eat Prey Live by mrnyarlathotep 2021-04-28T05:20:04Z

Nice chill game. I appreciate games where the HUD is on your character. I wish that there were more things to interact with-- why not 20x as many things on the board? More things to interact with makes the game feel better to play. It would be cool if the play area were really large, or wrapped around the sides, so that it felt like a large organic area instead of a box of collider objects. Nice experience overall.

Infinity Dive by keepee 2021-05-01T02:18:23Z

It's so rare to play a game with a fundamentally unique mechanic. Such a cool idea, and the effects around are so effective at giving the impression of falling faster. The soundscape really adds a lot to the experience. I love the idea that these pieces of text have so much detail if you zoom in, like going into the roiling mass of the universe at the plank length or something. Dang cool game.

Werm - an existential adventure by m11 2021-04-28T18:51:08Z

Pretty amusuing premise. The fact that you can scream silently is great, especially because it looks a bit like a surprised pikachu face, so you can make him open his mouth as the little worm reads one of the sentences. I would have liked to have seen 100 sentences, all smaller and filling up the screen, blurring together with the worm and with eachother. Because the game wasn't challenging, you can spend your time reading. Thoughts never get too deep, but that's probably for the best-- asking questions about something heavy would have felt out of place. It was a short but enjoyable experience overall.

Volcanaclimber by niksg 2021-04-28T18:39:53Z

Very cool game. It's nice when the player inputs are simple but the output on the screen is complex and interesting. It's also worth noting that the controls are easy and intuitive. It took me a bit to understand that letting the lamp just hit the walls was causing me to fall-- a particle effect on contact would have helped. A nice particle effect of fire of light coming out of the lamp would have been nice to look at as well. The funniest thing that happened was that one time when I fell, I fell through the floors and hit the ending collider and beat the game completely by accident. I also like the idea for the story, you have to imagine what world this is where these are the rules.

Some Great Cave Offensive by IkigaiSeitetsu 2021-04-30T15:51:29Z

Simple but effective and cute graphics, and the sound effects are adorable. Very clean experience. I like the path of creating an interesting mechanic and then building such an impressively large world around it. The rooms offered different challenges, which kept it fresh. I'd like to have some music to listen do while playing, and it would be nice if the main movement sound had a number of variations. This can even be done by slightly varying the pitch each time the effect is played, just to add some variety. Some nice particle effect when you are drilling and when you pick up the starts would make things a little more fun to interact with as well, but that is just polish. What is there is very cool, well done.

Deep in hell by katamary 2021-04-30T06:01:32Z

Loved the art! It captures the noire style well. What a trippy experience. I don't have as much feedback as I normally would, since I don't know much about story-based games. I love the idea, and the story was very very trippy and more bumpy than smooth. Not to nitpick, but some of the writing was a little odd. For instance "Do you even imagine the situation we found ourselves into" should be "Can you even imagine the situation we are in" or the slightly more awkward "Do you even understand the situation we have come to" or something along those lines. It added to the trippiness of the game in the end. Overall, well done-- super interesting idea and visually beautiful with nice music and sound effects.

Magic Worm by namnam 2021-04-28T05:10:17Z

I love the idea, and a simple game like this is a perfect concept for LD. It seems like a tough thing to balance, since it is fully random, and each ability has the same chance of success, so a new player could get unlucky and just lose a bunch of times in a row. The idea of balancing risk vs reward in your ability choices is smart. I think there may have been some bugs, where the spell says that I will lose health if it fails, but I don't seem to lose health, but then losing the eye spell did cause me to lose health. Overall a unique idea, cute art, nice audio. Well done!

Mrs. ScubaMan by Shaolin Dave 2021-04-27T05:09:28Z

Very cute, simple but clear graphics. There were a few nice touches like the scuba line movement. It was amusing to hit your head on the way up. I really wanted to see some surprises as I got deeper, maybe some fish or bigger coins. I also felt that there weren't many pickups-- might as well have been two or three times as many to make the game feel better. There is a large oxygen bar but it never gets close to filling. Also, because pickups aren't replaced, you spend much of the game just waiting for get past the last dive.

Deep Cover by Silas Reinagel 2021-04-30T05:44:27Z

I really enjoyed the artwork and the humor. I don't normally play narrative games, so it was a nice chance to give one a try, even a short one for a game jam. I enjoyed the premise, though once some of it was just trial and error for me to find a path. I noticed another commenter mentioning that the game was quite easy-- it's an interesting problem that I've been thinking about recently, that some people might get good luck or bad luck on their first attempt at a game, and how that could color their view of the game from then on. If you guess every answer correctly, for instance, you might think the game is trivially simple, or you might even think that there are no wrong paths. Anyway, interesting to think about. Overall, and fun experience and a solid entry.

Cave Girl - SUPER AQUA GOTH by nardandas 2021-04-27T17:48:36Z

I liked this one. Nice, pleasant mood, and the sword-bow is sweet. I would like it to have been more difficult, so that the powerups are more important. I would also like to see more contrast in the graphics, where important things stand out more, or just to make the overall feeling more striking. Animations and sounds very nice, its a little world to explore. The controls are easy to use, though only four directions to shoot made the bow largly ineffective. It's always impressive to see a game that is this complete in a jam-- it feels like a real game.

Deeper Trance by dhim 2021-04-28T22:01:28Z

I love magic eyes, and it super cool to see a game use the concept. It's a simple game, but it was still an experience worth having. The music is familiar, I think I've heard it on a few other LD games before. Well done on getting this to work. Who needs VR?

Deeper Trance by dhim 2021-04-29T07:27:05Z

@dhim I’ve played so many games these past couple of days, I was trying to think of where I heard the music. Then I realized... one of the games was your game in an early build. That’s probably where I heard it, my mistake.

Flood Fill Miner by Baturinsky 2021-04-29T05:18:29Z

I like the idea a lot, it is an interesting take on a matching game. This is the type of experience that would be improved immensely with additional visual or auditory feedback-- some particles for instance. Different tones depending on the type of stone would be nice as well, especially if the tone gave some feedback on how expensive that stone was. As it is, it's not reasonable to expect a player to consult the key every few turns to check the cost. Overall, cool idea that could be polished out to a neat experience.

Riddles In the Dark by Lex Randea 2021-04-27T19:23:24Z

The game is an interesting little space to explore, and the idea of solving riddles is nice. I'm always down for a Tolkien reference for sure. I didn't hear any audio-- some music and sound effects would have gone a long way to increase the atmosphere. There were also some technical issues-- on the second floor the object that was supposed to have the clue was displayed with Unity's pink material-not-found color. There were also many objects placed directly on top of other objects, causing z-fighting. When you picked up objects, the camera's near-plane caused clipping. The level design could have guided the player move clearly as well, as it was it was easy to get lost since each direction looks similar. Speaking of communication, the red rope on the door tells the player that they are not allowed to leave, but then they are expected to move right through it. It's important to think about what you are communicating and teaching the player about the space. Overall, nice environment and good concept, very Indiana Jones.

Deepsea Alchemy by Hugimugi7 2021-04-29T17:54:26Z

There is something relaxing about mining in a safe environment. While I would like to have some more quality of life additions, like the ability to view the name of a rock by holding shift, or the ability to hold more than one type of rock, in a way it was cool to have to mine rocks, collect them, and remember where they were. The thing that I found that was pretty frustrating was that compounds that you have made can recombine with their constituent elements, so that they can become useless as you are trying to carefully build a stockpile of the needed minerals. If this is expanded, I'd love to see some nice effects around the mining-- if the mining is enjoyable to do, maybe the rocks crumble in a satisfying way, nice particles, nice sounds, etc, it would make this a really pleasant experience. I liked the bouyancy controls-- while simple directional controls would have been more intuitive, having to spin a wheel makes it feel like you are controlling a submarine instead of a regular game character. Good idea, and a cool space to interact with.

Mandahlia by MicroChasm 2021-04-28T04:55:46Z

@teenythanos I mentioned this on reddit, but thanks for the review, and I enjoyed your game as well. Sorry about the start button issue, I have an idea of why that would happen, it's a shame that we spent too long in between test builds. I may be able to fix it.

Mandahlia by MicroChasm 2021-04-28T04:57:25Z

@pandepic agreed that the game is super short. I think just one more layer would have done a lot to make it more complete. No real excuses for this honestly, just that after you start building things it can be tough to modify them on a short timeframe. Glad you enjoyed it.

Mandahlia by MicroChasm 2021-04-28T04:58:24Z

@Leonvano That is what we were going for, just a short, pleasant experience for all the fine LD folks out there. Glad you enjoyed it.

Mandahlia by MicroChasm 2021-04-28T04:59:20Z

@wizard-sino a review in the form of a poem is the best compliment we could receive, thank you.

Mandahlia by MicroChasm 2021-04-28T15:35:28Z

@justcamh very helpful my man-- specifically my brother and I talked about how you were thinking that you would have to collect the little red bits to progress to the next area. That is absolutely what we should have done, and I don't know why it never occurred to us. Thanks for playing!

Mandahlia by MicroChasm 2021-04-28T17:25:01Z

@doot Your point about the movement is well taken. It is a little restricting for such a chill game; faster movement in a larger area along with a dash move might have given a nice sense of freedom. Thanks for the feedback!

Mandahlia by MicroChasm 2021-04-29T05:04:30Z

@jokerbomb when we made the last part we were just thinking about adding color and some interaction, but seeing it on the screen we were also immediately reminded of a ball pit. Which, of course, is a positive thing.

Mandahlia by MicroChasm 2021-04-29T05:42:17Z

@bea Glad you liked the audio! I really tried to use something that would be thematic and which has a nice vive. However, the audio is from Audio Jungle and is not our own-- we are just a programmer and an artist.

Shovel Guy by NotSpaghettiGames 2021-04-29T19:38:14Z

Nice, simple puzzle game. I would like to see more types of blocks that complicate the puzzle, along with some particle effects and animation when you jump or pick up or break blocks. Overall al clean experience with simple but visually clear graphics. Nicely done.

Abyss. by Darylsteak 2021-04-30T18:02:00Z

Really awesome experience. I love the atmosphere, the graphics, and the feeling of going deeper into a dangerous place. The only things that I would have wanted would be submarine background noise, which I added myself thanks to youtube, and an explosion effect for the missiles. I wanted to complete the game, and I may still return to it, but I found the fish mechanics to be a little frustrating. I may just need to better understand how they work first.

I don't understand why every game doesn't have a smiley option on the menu. This should be the new norm.

To add to a different commentor's suggestion about sonar spam, this is what happens when you map your mouse wheel to space: Untitled.png

Just being silly, overall this is a really cool game, one of my favorite from LD48. Well done!

Down the Machine World by Sempiternal 2021-04-30T16:36:15Z

Graphics are great! Good use of particles and light/dark contrast. I really enjoyed the environment design as well. Laser sound effect is snappy and satisfying. The theme of going deeper is a bit of table setting without mechanical effect, but that's not a big deal. Moving the boxes was slightly awkward, but I did like that they blocked the lasers, so you had to move, then shield yourself. Maybe if you could grab and release the blocks it would be easier to control. Other than some small critiques, I don't have much else useful to say-- well done!

The Space Between Us by LaneDavis 2021-04-27T16:16:35Z

Great art, loved the voice acting. Super polished for a jam game. It's got a feeling to it, which is not easy to accomplish. Managing the ship is a nice premise. I like in a spaceship game, its really more about the relationship. From a mechanics standpoint, it wasn't clear where I was supposed to go. Unlocking the bigger doors was a little slow. I think this is a situation where being explicitly clear about where to go would be fine. Overall a great creation, really impressive.

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-28T21:57:25Z

Super nice feeling. I like the art style as well, it is like a papercraft game. There is something interesting about the idea of a person who just abandons humanity and goes exploring the deep ocean, I could see this as a longer game about exploration and finding little set pieces. Great audio. There isn't much gameplay, but it's a nice short experience to have.

Conspiracy Dive by wizard sino 2021-04-27T18:03:34Z

Nice, cute style, reminds me of old point and click adventures. The character is slow, but you don't have to wait for them to arrive somewhere to interact, which is a very good decision. Homestar references are always a plus for me. I'd like to see more complex environments, with the puzzles and clues more difficult. It's a tough genre though, and a good effort.

The Deepest Thoughts by Aaronacus 2021-04-27T15:34:50Z

Very nice music and graphics. Gives me a What We Lost in the Flood vibe. I love when a game creates a vibe and a feeling, and this game accomplished that. I like the idea of thinking about the experience of the last human on earth. I would like to see the text be more about personal experiences, as it was it was a little too broad or general to have an impact. There were also a number of typos, which isn't a big deal, but the game is largely about text and there wasn't much of it. Overall, very nice little experience to have, well done.

One Missed Message by Apos 2021-04-27T17:27:31Z

I think that taking a simple concept, like a platformer, and developing it into something unique is a good way to go about a game jam. Interesting aesthetics, nice sound. I would like the movement to be faster, it would feel better to play. I also love to see little particles when you jump, and a sound effect for jumping and landing. That kind of small detail can make a game feel nice to play. The game has it's own style, which is worth a lot.

LD48.DeepHunt by fabonacci 2021-04-28T19:36:08Z

The sound and the mood are probably the highlights here. I am a fan of stealth games but they are honestly tough to make. I'd like to see a lot more movement, and a particle effect when you jump and when you land. I'd like to see more hiding abilities, or different types of enemies. As it was though, it was a clean and atmospheric experience-- nicely made.

Corla by JUSTCAMH 2021-04-29T06:27:53Z

A turn-based roguelike! Always glad to see. Great idea, great music, simple but pleasant graphics. I sincerely enjoyed the production quality on this game. The only things that I wanted to see would be the ability to use arrow keys, WASD, or 8624 on the numpad instead of the mouse, and the ability to press something to wait a turn instead of the timer. If you like this type of game you should look into the 7DRL challenge next year. It ended recently nd there are a lot of good traditional roguelikes. Super pleasing to play, so much so that I went back and played some of your other LD games, really unique stuff, keep it up.

Plumber Ants by sekol 2021-04-30T16:57:38Z

I love it! Any chance to be an ant is a chance I want to take. It reminds me of a sandspiel game. It's satisfying to move your little ants and watch large areas of water falling. The only issue that I had was that my ants all bunched up-- it might be nice if they had some boids mechanics, where they tried to not get too close and even did some wandering at times, to keep them apart. While I understand why the level would continue to get longer, it did kind of feel like no matter how much progress I made, I wouldn't get to see all my sweet water at the bottom-- you progress is kind of taken out from under you so to speak. Minor things in the large scheme though, this is a really unique entry, an an experience that I was glad to be able to have.

Mining Robot by Doc_Moustache 2021-04-29T05:35:45Z

The first thing that sticks out to me is that the music is super nice to listen to. The lttle robot is cute and has good animation. He is super shiny! I think it would be cool to see some roughness and rust. The core concept of doing some mining so that you can get upgrades and do more mining is solid, and the physics-based minecart is a cool idea. I especially like the idea that you could take the cart over gaps or on rails and do loops or something. The game does not communicate especially well with the player-- it is not clear that presssing space is casuing the minerals to be mined because the particle effect is so small. Also, it is not clear that you need to grab the cart in order to transfer minerals instead of just being close. Finally, the fact that minerals need to be transferred to the cart before being transferred to the barrels. Finally, mining minerals felt fine, but it would be nice to completly overdo it visually and through sound to make mining feel really good, since that is the basis of the game. These are not big issues, I'm just pointing out that communication through some visual feedback or text could really help to smooth the experience. Overall, a nice experience, well done.

Dikes & Polders by nsadie 2021-04-30T18:31:36Z

Beautiful game. The music, the mechanics, the graphics, everything. Great idea, simple and pleasant. I don't have a lot of constructive criticism, but I supposed it might have been nice to see some little particles of floating flowers when you place down a plot. The only other thing is that the game doesn't really match the theme in any way that I can see. Very nice and memorable game, you should be proud of it.

Dikes & Polders by nsadie 2021-04-30T20:07:24Z

@nsadie That makes sense, and I've actually revised my rating a bit. Although you have to be careful with too much text at the beginning of a game, maybe a little explanation of the premise would help. I wouldn't mind learning a little fact before playing a game, myself.

The Bothnia Trench by Milestone Games 2021-04-29T05:46:37Z

Nice graphics, and very atmospheric music. It's a simple experience, but I did feel that I wanted to know what happens next. It's reminiscent of the old point and click games of course, which I do have nostalgia for. My only critique is that it is always nice if clicking on things causes some sound and animation, to make the world feel more active and create a more visceral experience for the player. Overall, well made.

DwarfSweeper by Tim Sims 2021-04-29T04:07:46Z

I love this! Great idea, great implementation. It makes all the difference in the world that the blocks are destroyed layer by layer and make a nice sound, and that when you blow up you bounce a bit. It's always a pleasure to see a game that does these details well. I like that you fall flat if you jump too far. I did have some bugs where I fell through the floor if the game hung frames when I was doing something process-intensive in another program, just mentioning in case it is a good bug report. The only gameplay issue that I had was that I would like to be able to jump higher, or climb. I feel like the point of the game is to figure out how to go deeper, rather than to deal with making holes to deep to get out of-- minesweeper depends so much on open corners, which you don't always have access to in holes. Overall though, this is one of the most memorable games in the jam so far.

Echoes of The Underworld by Lucas Félix 2021-04-27T18:10:52Z

The echoing mechanic is super nice. the game has nice graphics, and good sound design. It feels close and claustrophobic. The limited visibility works to make you afraid of what it nearby. One thing is that, because there is no penalty to using the echo, you might as well use it over and over, which make it closer to regular vision. Cool entry, high marks on atmosphere for sure.

Sporelunk by Brainloaf Studio 2021-04-28T16:01:00Z

Animations and sound are awesome, and pair together perfectly. It's a weird and disturbing little place to be. Adding to that, I don't feel great playing as a creature that eats cute mushrooms. The concept works well, but I wish that there was something to collect other than eating little mushrooms. Also, seems unnecessary to ask the player to hold z while digging-- if they are moving into a wall, then they always want to be digging it. The last critique is that the player;s collision box is huge, it's usually better to keep it a bit smaller than the graphic on the screen. I really like when animation, music, and sound effects work well together, and this was the best I"ve seen in the jam so far.

Spacepunk 48 by mlkvr 2021-04-27T17:36:41Z

I love the idea of a management game like this for a jam game. Random events and managing numbers while keeping a static background to set the mood has a lot of potential. More random events would have been nice of course. It's a little hard to get a feel for what is happening behind the scenes, it was tough to understand what exactly I was balancing.

Selkö by Doot 2021-04-28T23:09:38Z

That was a nice experience. I really appreciate jam games that use a limited space but allow you to interact with almost everything, and have a few surprises. It tells a short, unusual story. I don't have a huge amount of feedback-- maybe more puzzles and more interactions would have been nice, but what was there was cool. Well done.

Pyramid Mapping by Leonvano 2021-04-28T01:24:24Z

Super cool idea, and nice aesthetic. Had a Witness feel. I love the idea of a slow, thoughtful exploration of a pyramid, and the idea of drawing and using your own map. It did require quite a bit of patience-- I wish that you didn't have to pick up the pencil every time. Extra points for doing something unusual.

Singularity Dive by JmO14 2021-04-30T16:19:07Z

Loved the graphics. The game does a good job with some of the little things, like the engine partles and shaking to give a sense of movement. It was a little hard to tell when was going to get hit, but I'm also just not good at games in general. The only thing that I would want would be some sense of progression-- progression always feels good in a game. Well done!

Cleaning Diver by JaviCoder 2021-04-28T05:30:00Z

So much of the graphics are really awesome here. The diver, the light on the water, the bubble particles-- really, really nice. There is something special about the feeling of diving deeper and deeper into the water. Gameplay is simple, but the experience is nice and that is what matters. I have two critiques-- the first is that, because the graphics were otherwise so beautiful, seeing the corners of the rocks and background particle effects was really jarring, and took me out of the experience. The other critique is that, in this nice calm game, cleaning nuclear waste seemed a little dissonant. Otherwise, a very nice experience.

OVERDRILLED by everedx 2021-04-27T15:57:20Z

Super nice graphics, and I am a big fan of the idea of managing a machine like this. There are a number of things to do at any one time, and you have to judge which to do, good design. It was a little confusing what was happening sometimes-- when you cool down the machine for instance, the only indication was that the small meter in the top left was going down-- some steam would go a long way to communicating what is happening. Grat feeling and aesthetic, and effective sound.

An Unexpected Mishap in Naval Mine Cove by Bea 2021-04-28T22:05:58Z

Great idea! It has a bit of a Far: Lone Sails feel. I love the art, and the fact that the water fills up as you get hit. My only critique would be that I would like to see the character be way more agile, even if it means adding more bombs to even out the difficulty. As it was, I didn't feel that I had a lot of control over what was happening. This could be a sweet game if those manangement tasks were adding, or maybe some Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime combat. Cool stuff.

A Taste of the Past by Emily Pitcher 2021-04-28T04:53:49Z

Really nice game. It is impressively complete, like a small version of a released game. It is a kind of game that I've never felt capable of making-- one that has a real emotional connection. It was very sweet, and handled well. The simple gameplay pairs well with the story, doesn't need to be more complex than that. Very nice art, both characters and environment. The only critique I have is that I wish that the main character had more animation frames in her walk, as it is, it is a little stilted. Very nice game!

CRASH Pit by E.E-Wick 2021-04-28T04:32:18Z

Most fun game of the jam so far, I wanted to keep restarting because I always felt like I could do better next time. I really appreciated that it gets some of the simple things right, like particles and sound effects. There is a nice balance between missiles destroying other planes, and you having to avoid their blasts. I really enjoy movement based builds in games, and I had a good time getting all of the movement upgrades and weaving around. Kind of a mix of Downwell and Luftrausers. It's usually better to not allow mouse or key events that have no cooldown, as it might cause people to stress their hands. I'd love to see a simple roll animation as the plane moves back and forth for some additional dyanmism.

Khazads by vsi- 2021-04-29T15:52:04Z

I'm always impressed by a jam game that has items, consumables, mutliple levels, combat, voice acting, and is bug-free from what I could tell. Nice little tolkien-esque dwarf game. the only things I wanted to see would be a much more impressive attack animation with the pick axe, along with a visual representation of the damage that you are doing-- it would make it a lot more enjoyable to interact with. Also, although I thought that the last boss was fun, dodging the skeletons and all, there is no indication of why you would have to defeat the skeletons at one point, where the boss stops taking damage. I did read the text and figure it out, but more communication would help. Overall, nice short, impressively complete experience.

Hello, user. by Totteri 2021-04-28T01:28:43Z

I liked it! I've seen this sort of story before of course, where you begin to feel that something deeper is going on, but the way it was revealed was interesting, and it actually made me feel guilty for something that I didn't do. Super interesting. I really like the idea of creating the framework for a story and letting the user fill in the details themselves, it blurs the line between creator and audience.

Underneath by HumanIsRed 2021-04-28T19:31:38Z

I really liked this one. It has a lot of the elements that I want in an LD game-- nice sound effects, an effect when you touch the ground and one when you leave it, simple pleasing graphics, and somewhat challenging gameplay wrapped around a forgiving respawn system. The idea is cute and the story is told through simple but really pretty and effective images. Nice mechanics unveiled slowly over time. Kind of Downwell meets Celeste. The movement is very satisfying. One of my favorite games so far for sure.

Crust by exopunk 2021-05-01T01:17:09Z

Excellent stuff!nice graphics, thematic, interesting movement concept. It was nice that you could still use thrusters, otherwise it might have been frustrating. Nice sound effects, nice movement and particles. It's always a bonus in a game when dying feels good, and the tentacles that eat you are so snappy I didn't mind dying to them. Very impressive game.

Way Down We Go by Slowfrog Again 2021-04-28T21:52:07Z

Nice pleasant game. The sound effect for catch fish is snippy and satisfying, which is super important. Not especially challenging, and of course it would be nice to see more fish and do some more exploration if the game were expanded.

In Too Deep by RefraX295 2021-04-28T20:51:45Z

The mechanics are simple but effective. The best part of the game for me is that it takes the idea of a tower defense and adds a risk vs reward feature in the form of over-extending yourself. Pretty interesting game design. I'd like to be able to zoom in and out. The most frustrating thing was that I did see or hear any notification that my pipeline was being attacked somewhere, which means that I would have to scroll back and forth across it in order to be effective. Cool idea though and good implementation.

Mystical Island by azakharov 2021-04-30T18:20:13Z

I really like this idea. This kind of one-screen management sim is perfect for a jam game. One thing that is a little confusing at first is that the meter labeled Hunger goes up when you eat-- it probably should either be reversed, or labeled Food. I want it to be that you need to build up resources by going around the outside of the island before slowly moving towards the center, going back to the outside when you lose resources again. It would make the inside feel more special-- as it is, my experience was that I had was that I died no matter what I did. Cool idea though, and well executed.

Asterisk by Crychair 2021-04-27T05:03:15Z

Very well polished. It feels hectic, and I kept wanting to play again when I died. Graphics are very nice. I would love to see more particles, and have the laser feel like it is really connecting with the blocks. Also maybe more visual or auditory rewards for getting higher-tier loot. These are nit-picks for the purpose of providing helpful feedback though, overall the game is awesome.

Don't Pull It Out by Shin0nome 2021-04-28T15:48:08Z

I love the idea of stabbing yourself. Well done on the voiceover, all of the sound its pretty endearing actually. The game is fairly easy, I would like to see it more fast paced, maybe with a stream of blood instead of a circle around you. The hurt voiceover is a little amusing-- you stab yourself in the stomach and then are like-- aww, come on! I love that the story is pretty out there but played completely straight. Super good idea.

Deepest Dungeon by yobiscus 2021-04-27T16:23:56Z

Nice art, and nice feeling. I like this kind of environment. The music was pleasant, but in a game about running as fast as you can before you run out of time, the niceness of the music was a little out of place. There really needs to be some communication about the controls-- the first thing I did was go up to the red wall, collide with it, then run around everywhere and try everything else, since it appeared to be a gated area that I was supposed to unlock or supposed to avoid. There isn't really any mechanical reason why you can't just walk through the red walls. Having the mini-map and trying to match it to what you are seeing was a good idea, it makes you have to do this matching game while moving through the space.

Phantas-matcha by CharlineF 2021-04-29T05:10:57Z

Whenever I play a jam game that gets the little things right, it is bumped up in my mind. The fact that the text plays a sound effect as it writes itself out, but allows you to display it in full by click anywhere or pressing space or enter is a great quality of life addition. It may seem minor, but when playing a bunch of jams games it means a lot, at least to me. The art is really nice, and I like the idea-- I was very interested in dreams for a while in my life. The game does end abruptly, as I'm sure you know, but it was a nice vertical slice, and created a world in a short timeframe. Well done!

HELL deep is your love? by Villanelle 2021-04-30T05:12:13Z

I loved the sound paired with the art. It may seem like a small thing, but the music along with the idle animation was a perfect fit, and that goes a long way for me. The art overall was really nice and atmospheric. There were some issues with communicating to the player in my mind, especially the fact that you have to press move buttons to unfreeze yourself. If this was tutorialized, or even if a particle effect showed the player breaking out of the effect, I would have learned quicker. Even knowing this, I got stunlocked on the ropes many times, which was a little frustrating. In general, I think it would have helped for the player to jump higher and move a little quicker. the critiques aside, its a really nice experience, solid and cohesive. Well done!

Rabbit Rappel by MatterLinx 2021-04-27T15:43:40Z

Such a good idea. The graphics are nice, and I love the idea of exploring a cave like this. Rappeling down into the unknown is such an interesting thing to do in a game. I really wish I could have gotten further, but there is no indication of what you are supposed to do at some points, which is very frustrating. Leaps of faith are almost always a bad experience. Also, I would love a nice, calm cave exploration, having a gun seems dissonent and gamey, especially with no shooting sound. Overall, its a really cool experience but the level design prevented me from getting too far.

Through the Anthill by nessie 2021-04-27T15:49:37Z

I enjoy being an ant in games. Nice, pleasant little experience. It wasn't immediately visually clear what I was supposed to do, until the txt told me. Music is pleasant, but might fit better with an action game instead of the chill experience of this ant. Overall, its a nice little world and I love the idea..

Vertabyss by UltimateWalrus 2021-04-30T05:24:40Z

That was pretty cool. It's always nice when a game presents you with something that you haven't seen before. I did find it difficult to understand the space I was in, but that was part of the fun. If the cursor changed in some way-- became lighter or larger as it went up or down, I think it would have been more clear- maybe it could have also turned a different color depending on which corner it was closest to. I loved the sound effects, the frantic gameplay, it felt satisfying to interact with. Very satisfying to hit enemies. I've also found recently that game that let you use the scroll wheel are really really satisfying, probably because I have a fancy mouse. There is no sound effect or visual indication for when the player gets hit! In an otherwise feedback-heavy game, that felt like a big omission. Without that feedback, you have to look up to the top left corner in the midst of everything to check your health. Really cool and unique experience.

Vertabyss by UltimateWalrus 2021-04-30T19:29:52Z

@ultimatewalrus Ahh ok, that is my mistake. Because of the unusual perspective, I was assuming I was being hit without realizing. I retract my critique!

Into The Light by William V B 2021-04-27T16:00:57Z

Nice little tech demo with great art. Not at all related to the theme, but I appreciate the idea of jamming out a concept that you want to continue. The first thing that stood out to me is that slow movement in games feels really bad. Everything else is chill and pleasant, I hope you keep up the project.

Potato Pandemonium by SugarSugarSugar 2021-04-29T05:02:59Z

This may be the prototypical jam game. It's janky for sure, and there is a lot of charm in that. The music, for instance, is really nice to listen to but doesn't really fit what is happening on the screen. I'd love to see some more fluid movement, less complex controls, and some sound effects and particles when you move, jump, and attack. that kind of feedback is what makes a game feel good to play. There are a few other things, like if the escape key brings you to the controls menu, then the escape key should also exit the controls menu. Also, a quit button is always appreciated. Otherwise, nice first entry, keep it up!

Gecko Dive by bqq 2021-04-28T20:36:24Z

Very nice game. I love this style of low poly models, where you can see the polygons. Nice colors, nice models, nice animations. The gecko going down the little hole is very satisfying. I like the simple patterns. The only real issue with the game is that the audio gets very repetitive very quickly. A really impressive entry, high marks from me.
