LD30 — Connected Worlds

Cable Theory by hadesfury 2014-08-26T02:25:00

Loving the Godus style art design here! Great work

Connecting LD30 to the Real World by Will Edwards 2014-08-26T12:49:00

this is great! however because in Beijing China we have to use a VPN, it says I'm in Japan (my vpn location), none the less, this is amazing stuff!

Onanigan by alvivar 2014-08-27T07:50:00

This is pretty hard! but in a good way, once I met the thing with the red eye I was intrigued about story

I like the stark feel to the game that both the audio and visuals portray. Would prefer to use UP key for jump, and maybe have another key to "stick" on to the surface of things.
Great game

Omnis by bytegrove 2014-08-28T12:15:00

awesome mood all around, the characters actually worked great!

The Trader by TravisChen 2014-08-26T03:39:00

Great visually, and the audio was great too. Gameplay wise, it would be great to have a visual indicator of which ports recharge, and which are just for trading (or maybe I missed something) Great overall

Dreamshift by AgentParsec 2014-08-27T07:31:00

A little slow to download for me, but overall nice and clean level design, parallax works well to add depth. Great game overall

Whiteout by primaerfunktion 2014-08-26T15:22:00

ok, gorgeous visually, really great art style, and the bleak contrast is great

there are a couple of clipping issues around the tent, but apart from that I'm shocked at the amount of effort you put in to the world, with nice wind physics too!

Gameplay.. as others have mentioned, it's a little unclear of what to do (i guess that encourages the exploration though!)

Definitely worthy of a full game, great work

The Asteroids I Call Home by Elemental Zeal Games Studios 2014-09-02T12:16:00

insta death is a little harsh, but great game overall

Blue Rays by KEFIR 2014-08-30T12:21:00

movement in this game felt great, I think with a little more effort on your visuals this could be great!

Warplink Attack by bvanschooten 2014-08-28T11:39:00

what a crazy collection! Needs sound (or was it just my computer) great stuff

Ordinary Weekdays of Tech Support of Parallel Worlds by SaintHeiser 2014-08-29T12:13:00

Tribe of the Giant by MerlijnVH 2014-08-28T11:39:00

BOND by ConflictiveLabs 2014-08-29T11:55:00

Otherworld by Malapropos 2014-08-26T15:28:00

I like the sketchy look to the game, very pleasing to the eye.

Holodeck Adventures by rejooh 2014-08-28T09:28:00

anything star trek is awesome in my mind! Art work is perfect while being cute at the same time. I can imagine buying plushies of these characters haha!

Great work

Bipolar World by havana24 2014-08-27T08:46:00

very nice take on the theme, with a nice shift in music between "worlds"

Nice story as well (did your girlfriend tell you to put her in the game? haha)

Great work

Me And My Ghost by jahlgren 2014-08-31T03:24:00

this was really great. It was quite a shock the first time you switch (as the color palette totally changed the mood) which was really great.
Solid "runner" game, it needs a few pickups to get high scores though haha!

Seminecata by blackcode 2014-08-28T11:56:00

nice "pencil" style, others have said they didn't like it, but I actually found it quite charming.

Go for the bread by Ventura 2014-09-02T12:14:00

took me a while to realize I could restart by pressing R, had to read the comments, maybe I jumped in to the game too quickly and missed something. It's got bread, so it's addictive!!

Yay, progress! by hissssssssss 2014-08-31T03:54:00

haha, well, full marks on humor!
Shame you couldn't finish

confLINKted by AlbertoSM 2014-09-02T12:12:00

Romeo and Juliet, The Game -- make love, not war/suicide! by Arakade 2014-08-30T12:33:00

it took quite a long time to load!
Even though you used pre-made assets the visuals came together nicely.
Great effort!

Bleed Zone by Symmeteer 2014-08-30T12:36:00

shame you couldn't finish on time, your idea actually looked pretty great!

Great gameplay, and your level of difficulty increases nicely
well made!

Many Ninjas by Parappa 2014-08-31T04:21:00

crazy amount of ninjas!
Played it for longer than most games so far, but as others have mentioned, not really connected to the theme.
Highly addictive though

On the edge of Earth: 5000 by Hypnohustla 2014-08-29T12:28:00

My favorite so far.
i pooped 3 times

well, the art you created was really interesting! But I want to play!

NECLiD by 0x0961h 2014-08-27T07:59:00

Great work

Milkyway Tycoon by jackyjjc 2014-09-02T12:08:00

gorgeous visuals that were very clear, was a little tough at the beginning though.

Great work!

gorgeous shadow play artwork, I really enjoyed what you had, give us more!

Space Clash by donan 2014-08-27T08:20:00

tighten up the controls a little and I think you could have a fun little game here. I've always loved Zero G gameplay, and you did this one well with a nice visual style and cool base line to go with it (the music was great, however I'm not sure it suited the game, needed something more space)

Great work

Terminal by Menesetsu 2014-08-28T11:50:00

love the mood you have created, takes me back to my days of learning bbc basic! :-~
Good job

John and the Arbitrary Gem Hunt by SteveSalmond 2014-08-29T12:38:00

Really well made entry!
Great visuals, great music and great gameplay!

You took the theme quite literally witch is actually pretty cool.
I think you could make a fully fledged puzzle game out of this! Imagine no mans sky visuals paired with your mechanic, each world having a different style

Very impressed!

Dead Land by BoaHeck_ArtGent 2014-08-29T12:13:00

very very good visually, the vector 3D worked really well!
I miss Ireland!

Transit Gods Inc. by Katamori 2014-08-29T11:56:00

seems to be quite a lot going on at first, but it was pretty easy to understand. I liked how basic the art style was and it fit your game well. Great stuff

Connected Caves by Birke 2014-08-31T03:10:00

great work on the procedural worlds, I really enjoyed the atmosphere you created!
It would of been nice to see a little more variation in the caves to keep the player hooked, and promote more exploration
Overall a really great entry!

Politisque by Rongefilet 2014-08-31T03:51:00

want to play, but can't

People Manipulation Sim by NikB 2014-08-30T12:14:00

the game got flagged on download but i still tried it
The game itself is pretty confusing due to the info overload, but overall a great entry

The Legend of Light by Yword 2014-08-31T03:12:00

great polish on your entry
Some great platforming sections and pretty deep gameplay.
Well done!

Connected Worlds Training Facility by sftrabbit 2014-08-30T08:31:00

Really solid platforming experience!
I felt the character was a little floaty, but it worked well

Great job!

Matters of Perspective by nesis 2014-08-26T15:14:00

splendid art style, and it loaded nice and fast on the web browser (which is always a great sign of optimization, good job on that!)
I loved the switch in perspective idea, really well thought out level design, and a great tutorial to get you in to the game quickly.

Well done!

Connect teh Worlds by unitycoder_com 2014-08-26T03:21:00

Not bad overall, It was a little confusing at first what to do, I didn't know I had to collect the key to unlock
The asteroids add a nice challenge, but I find myself waiting around too much for the right moment to connect

Notes from a Mad Mage by Razoric 2014-08-30T08:49:00

I loved how responsive this was, really great gamplay and the art style complimented it nicely.

Great writing, pacing and message

Love it!

great visuals and tight gameplay, I love it!

Galilei by Psoeter 2014-08-31T03:21:00

I've seen a few with this art style, but I think you pulled it off the best as everything worked really well together
Quite a "zen" experience you created!

R.E.P.O.C.O.S.M.O.S. by Robber 2014-08-27T08:50:00

Great feeling of motion on this game with the gravity. easy to control, however i didn't know the key for using the laser and jetpack at first

Great work

Iter Bellum Deus by Piscythe 2014-09-02T12:16:00

really cool, I felt the white "stars" were a little distracting, maybe making them smaller would balance out the visuals a little

Connected Worlds by CoderMusgrove 2014-08-28T09:24:00

I would go with what others have said, I would of gone with an earlier version of Java.
Overall plays well, clean interface too

Star Turtle 64 by chikun Dev Team 2014-08-28T09:35:00

great concept! I loved the art style

Gimbal Fighter by kumoi 2014-08-27T07:29:00

CheckPoint by DanqueDynasty 2014-08-28T09:22:00

very challenging, it would of been nice to see some better visuals but what you had served it's purpose.
Congrats, you're the 60th game I've played, only 2000 more to go... hmmmm

Voyage of the Magpie by tcarter 2014-09-02T12:01:00

Fun game!

Planetary Devourers by Deozaan 2014-09-03T12:20:00

very cool entry, definitely takes the theme literally in a good way.
Visually very impressive

Warmageddon by schizokoa 2014-08-29T12:20:00

you hit the theme perfectly, and the gameplay was fun and easy to get in to!
Always a fan of two people playing on the same machine!

Strangers From Space by ALobker 2014-08-30T12:18:00

loved the vector style trees!
Would be nice to see a more consistent art style throughout the game though, as the trees compared to other parts of the game looked a little out of place

Color trip by stasss 2014-08-31T04:02:00

loved the visuals on this, and your control method took me a while to figure out but it was very unique

Nice relaxing music, that went well with the gameplay
I wish it was a little more responsive though, as I got frustrated with the controls quite quickly

Introspection by Jean Phenix 2014-08-28T09:30:00

had a problem with firefox also, chrome fixed that.
Love the visuals, simple and clean. But there needs to be clearer direction for the player

Anti Matter by Chris Maire 2014-08-28T09:41:00

nice difficulty on this one. Would like to be able to build more different things to take out the enemies though

Inverted | Endless Runner by oranebeast 2014-08-31T03:56:00

wish I could survive.
My mind was pretty cluttered playing this, haha
I liked your visual style, and I actually enjoyed the music

AIlocation by Ping78 2014-08-28T09:34:00

very difficult in places (which i liked)
It would be good to tighten up the controls a little
Good entry overall

Sleep by Snoother 2014-08-26T09:10:00

This gripped me pretty much from the start, great narrative and it was nice to see something different! great work

Jane Austen Versus Slug Lord by hexagore 2014-08-26T15:49:00

very bizarre, in a good way. I couldn't hear any audio though.
It would be nice to throw in some extra gameplay mechanics, you could even do a "typing of the dead" kind of thing, where you have to quickly type sentences.

Great stuff

Boulder Toss by quade81 2014-09-03T12:29:00

very unique take on the theme, nice "bridge" building mechanic
Really liked the polygon visuals, however I've seen so many entries using this now it's getting a little stale (I was actually thinking of going this route, but decided against it! haha)

Music gets a little repetitive after a while, but it was soothing.

Good work!

Rift Walker by Skills641 2014-08-26T09:06:00

Nice design overall, with nice unique character designs. Pretty deep gameplay too for 48hrs! good job

Drink the Ink (Text Adventure) by TheExGenesis 2014-08-29T12:00:00

loved the music in this submission, it went really well with your visual design (I've heard quite a few great tracks on a lot of entries this time round)

The game was a little short, but what you had worked well!

Busted by camlang 2014-08-30T12:38:00

love the "hotline miami" vibe to this. I couldn't walk through doors for some reason

Busted by camlang 2014-08-30T12:39:00

edit: figured it out! Great idea

Buddinge by rhmoller 2014-08-31T03:20:00

I really enjoyed this (maybe because I used to love top down racers like micro machines way back)
I liked that you could bump in to houses and cause mayhem too!

Great work

Connected Words by Teesquared 2014-08-26T03:47:00

Interesting idea, I got pretty hooked quickly. I like text puzzles like this.
The game matched up really well to the theme! Great stuff

Hex Racer by Kashaar 2014-08-26T14:40:00

Hello Operator by Chris M 2014-08-26T02:46:00

Game starts, and I just see the fuzzy screen :-(
Played it earlier though, great work!!!

Hello Operator by Chris M 2014-08-26T03:15:00

Got to play it all the way through, the frustration level is perfect. Great experience

Singularity by TheMorfeus 2014-08-27T13:34:00

I had a few frame drop also which was surprizing, overall great look though

Close Your Eyes by nonetheless 2014-08-30T12:09:00

very unique concept, would of been cool if you could somewhere find gameplay where you actually had to close your eys!

Topsy Turvy Worm by JTGaming2012 2014-08-29T12:00:00

would be nice to have some audio (or was my volume down???!)
The green color tone was a little off putting and not very pleasing to the eye, maybe try another color palette.
Overall fun to play though!

Final Ultimate Boss: Across Realms by SevenKingdomsSurvivors 2014-08-27T08:22:00

this came out great, and there is a lot of work put in to it (or are the art assets pre-made)
Either way, it played well. Great stuff

This Little Piggy... by InfectionTeam 2014-08-27T08:18:00

This is superb (potato salad haha), loving the music and visuals, a great amount of work done in the short time period!

Great stuff

Parallel Rift by liquidminduk 2014-08-25T13:49:00

Thanks for playing guys!

@CptDustmite Yeh, I wanted it at 1024x728 as it read better
It might be a good idea to make it a little smaller for other devices - or write a script to scale to your browser size. Someone always has a smaller screen! haha

@ Hyoga-3D RE: gameplay, yep, a long way to go to really flesh out the gameplay, the basics are in now, so we can do different things later, but for the purpose of the jam, I think we're done!

Thanks again

D

Parallel Rift by liquidminduk 2014-08-25T13:52:00

@Stepwise - haha, there's a score ticker at the top, ahh, need to fix that resolution thing!

Parallel Rift by liquidminduk 2014-08-26T10:01:00

Sorry for the size guys, I'll make it smaller! Also I think if you right click, you can go full screen on the player, however there might be some stretching issues if you do thet

Parallel Rift by liquidminduk 2014-08-26T10:54:00

Added a small screen for you all, If anyone needs it smaller than this, please let me know!

Parallel Rift by liquidminduk 2014-08-26T15:27:00

yep, there is a time limit, top left, maybe i should reduce the wait time a little!

Parallel Rift by liquidminduk 2014-08-29T12:32:00

@Will Edwards, did you use the Web Small Screen link?

Parallel Rift by liquidminduk 2014-08-30T11:29:00

Hi lkr, the reason for the "safe zone" to be time based rather than location based is to stop camping at the beginning of the map and promote movement. I think now the safe time may be a little harsh (2 seconds), but I'm trying to think of other ways to keep you safe at the beginning.

Possibly random spawn points would work, but I think this would require a different level design angle.

Thanks for playing to all, would love to know your high scores. I myself have managed 19 runs so far (which led me to realize that after a while there is a little pause just before you re-spawn if there are too many clones) this will obviously be fixed though!

Parallel Rift by liquidminduk 2014-08-31T03:41:00

@mechabit thanks for playing, I've noticed lag around the 15 - 20 character mark, but not usually around 6, that's interesting. Could you let me know the system specs so I can look in to it.
For the death on character hit, there is a small window of opportunity where you can't get killed at the beginning (2 seconds)

Parallel Rift by liquidminduk 2014-09-01T11:24:00

@Tifu, haha, at work I have these ridiculously large screens I need for creating 3D stuff all day long, I get so used to them I forget not everyone has the same "the default is only 1024 high says Dan, that's small enough right!"
Well done on the 12-14 runs! that's pretty good by what I've seen.
Final version will ideally have a nice pretty high score screen! Hopefully online, so you can see your global rank.

Anyways, back to my screens... which I still think are too small

Sorry for that though!

Travel Escape by The Number Guy 2014-08-28T09:38:00

great music on this one, I left it running in the background for a while as ambient sound while I work!
Gameplay wise it was a little lacking, but i see the direction you're trying to go

Connected Retro Worlds by yodamaster 2014-08-30T12:08:00

Lenore: Dark Days Ahead by Team Luminous 2014-08-26T03:35:00

Interesting idea, the character kept disappearing at the beginning but would re-appear after another key press.

Connected Worlds by Downtown 2014-08-27T07:35:00

The game loaded nice and fast which is great
The controls are very unresponsive, but maybe thats on purpose? to make it harder?
Those faces were quite disorientating on the last level haha. Very unexpected

Between Worlds by Alaxe 2014-08-28T11:52:00

very iinteresting, quite a few collision bugs though.

Irden Core by ekun 2014-08-30T12:22:00

we had the same problem with the alpha of our game, no players = 0 success. Shame, because it's quite a feat to create a multiplayer experience in the amount of time you had. Respect!

Harmony by LeftRight92 2014-09-02T12:13:00

lots going on in this game, might be good to streamline it a little or introduce additional buttons as you go along

Must to be Invasion by psydack 2014-08-27T08:01:00

love the music, like the visuals.
I just shot everything, I'm not sure if there is an aim to the game

I"M not sure what it has to do with the theme connested worlds though

Good effort

The Ancient Guardian by 2DemiGods 2014-08-30T12:25:00

Chroma by Lvyn 2014-08-30T08:51:00

I loved the shifting worlds in this that changed the gameplay greatly! Beautiful sound design, and the little block had more character than I expected!
Great work

GPS: Galactic Parcel Service by lakael 2014-08-26T02:47:00

Great level of polish and a nice clean art style. Just like Fanatrick said, too many space games haha

NOODLE FEELING by Magdev 2014-08-27T08:35:00

I have no idea what I'm supposed to do, but it's fun as hell, with some insane music haha.
Quite a crazy "thing" you have created!

Caelum by Rocketship 2014-08-29T12:09:00

I'm a big fan of top down shooters, so this was great.
The audio perfectly matched the gameplay which I really enjoyed

Starpiercer by Schrodinger Games 2014-08-28T06:09:00

great level of polish on this one!
Music fits in well with the visuals, I agree with others, holding down the mouse all the time is a little uncomfortable

Under World by tiff 2014-08-26T08:55:00

really interesting concept! I liked the parallel worlds having different moods! Good art design, it would of been cool to use completely different art styles for each world though, maybe 2D shadowplay for the shadow world, and a cool vector 3d for the other. Altogether great stuff!

Remnant by braqoon 2014-08-28T09:42:00

gorgeous visuals, reminded me of Alien Breed (the original!)
Great stuff

Space Delver by commodoreKid 2014-09-02T12:02:00

love the "sketchy" feel to the game. would love to see a final product!

Abridged worlds by littlerockplanet 2014-08-28T09:36:00

very bizarre character design!

CATastrophe by Roknsk 2014-08-26T09:04:00

I tried to get further to see if there was something to do with the Connected Worlds theme apart from the initial story text later on, but there was nothing. After a while the gameplay gets a little dull, maybe some pick-ups (coins etc..) could help make it more fun. Kittens were a nice touch though!

Kate by LaFleur 2014-08-31T03:27:00

nice and clean. I really enjoyed the music. A great retro feel all around!

Der Klappermann by Team Klappermann 2014-08-28T06:06:00

pretty damn amazing work overall, you put a lot in to the visuals! sound concept all around

City Hero by FerrenReve 2014-08-31T03:43:00

it's a little dark, so very hard to see what's going on. But overall was fun to play

Waterfly Octus by gillenew 2014-08-30T12:11:00

Very polished entry, everything worked really well together visually and gameplay wise
Sometimes the controls were a little finicky but I got used to it after a while.
Great!

World Portals by Keevinw 2014-08-30T12:11:00

this was actually pretty addictive!
very basic but everything worked well

Building Bridges! by JetL33t 2014-09-03T12:14:00

this is a super beautiful game you have created!
I'm very impressed by the visuals, tight gameplay and the entire package!
Smart idea to have the control tutorials part of the world

Great work!

I'd like to see more!

ParaPlats (Demo) by HayManMarc 2014-08-30T08:25:00

I died so many times!
Really well made, It might of been best to have individual keys for each of the worlds, rather than fumbling through the arrow keys.
The depth was done really well, and I liked that each world had different jump heights.
Needed audio though!

Strong entry overall, congrats on your first Ludum Dare

Color Runner by vinhuman 2014-08-26T02:22:00

Overall great, I like the minimalist feel to it, like others have said, the jump is a little finicky

HEAL by Stepwise 2014-08-25T13:54:00

Always a fan of pixel art, great flow to the animations and really accessible art style. Great work!

HEAL by Stepwise 2014-08-26T02:22:00

Solar System Builder by Atuuh 2014-08-26T15:06:00

great work to Irvine, the music is beautiful and suits the mood perfectly.
It's an interesting concept, but I don't really get why guiding a huge chunk of rock in to a planet would generate resources! haha, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Great work all round

Meat Dragon 30s by favoyang 2014-08-26T15:34:00

munch munch!

This is a great 2 player experience! I can imagine a larger grid, with more players, could be a great party game in the same category as bomberman.
Great work Favo!

Meteor Merchant by Freudian 2014-08-27T08:02:00

Multiversal by AtecStudios 2014-08-31T04:04:00

great visuals, controls were a little strange and finicky but overall good effort

Growing star by Fre 2014-08-27T08:10:00

This is a really great entry! I got quite obsessed with it quickly, so I stopped playing to allow myself to come back to it later and check out some other entries!

Some really great touches, music fading out as you zoom the camera gives you the feeling if distance and solitude.

I'll be back to play more, but my first impressions are that it's a great game

Hyperactive Hamster Fusion by Luin 2014-08-26T02:49:00

anything with a hamster gets my vote! Well, it would, but unfortunately I don't have 4 pads. Would be kool to have other options of input (keys)

Space Evolution by keddelzz 2014-08-27T08:31:00

Kick Lucifers Ass - Jam Version by adrenalinehigh_Jam 2014-08-29T12:04:00

You got a lot done in the time frame!Great visual design, as others have said the melty buildings looked great!

Ride to the Moon by CrefossusJam 2014-08-28T09:45:00

I wanted to get to the end so bad! Great take on the "jump" game formula, I liked the idea of an almost "pinball" starting mechanic, pulling the mouse down.

Sllukswefa by Nanolotl 2014-08-28T09:39:00

more like this! Great variation visually throughout the game, made me want to explore more

A New and Beautiful World by TKia_ 2014-08-30T12:16:00

great! There is a lot of story here for the short amount of time you had! great work on that! I love all things with branching story-lines so you get top marks from me!

Pulley Planet by Patacorow 2014-08-27T08:16:00

Disc Jockey Jockey by mildmojo 2014-09-02T12:05:00

Need some sound to match the great visual style you have!

United Nanolytics Knowledge Vault by chas 2014-08-31T04:11:00

edit:
I came back and played again, this time there was audio (not sure what was wrong last time)
Really great, I still haven't managed to get to 100% though!

Antbassador by KevinZuhn 2014-08-27T09:02:00

very unique style of gameplay, frustrating, but in a good way
Love the visuals, I really wanted to see more and explore more

Top marks from me!

Well made

Planet Magumi by Kato 2014-08-26T03:19:00

Not bad overall, It was a little confusing at first what to do, I didn't know I had to collect the key to unlock
The asteroids add a nice challenge, but I find myself waiting around too much for the right moment to connect

Planet Magumi by Kato 2014-08-26T03:23:00

Sorry wrong game! Playing too many haha,
Ok let's try again, great design overall, it took a really long time to load though. Agree with the the current bugs (restart / skip etc
Not bad overall

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Galaxia by greysphere 2014-12-08T05:00:00

I finished! would be nice to have a (yey you win, 100%_ also the higher numbers cover almost the entire screen/

Some visual representation on the image of the galaxy for the "spread" would be nice too, altogether very well executed!

Galaxia by greysphere 2014-12-08T05:02:00

^ took me about an hour

Excellent submission, That final day had me for a while, but a great feeling of accomplishment when I finally finished it. Would love to see more levels!

The learning curve was quite intense, so some further padding missions might be cool!

Very nostalgic art style and sound effects!
Great work
