LD28 — You Only Get One

The Trigger by Kabraxis 2013-12-16T10:16:00

Controls were preventing me to enjoy the game more but I really loved the exploration part and the whole thinking whether I've been in the room that I can open using my last key of this color.

You only jump once by dqmhose 2013-12-16T10:43:00

I haven't been able to open the mac version but the web version works just fine.

Space Wreck by primaerfunktion 2013-12-16T15:56:00

Wow! I captures that 'oh shit! what next?' feeling. Really really good job!

Santa's Reckoning by firebelly 2013-12-16T09:38:00

That's the Christmas spirit! :D
Fun times, it's only a little bit too easy to stack everyone at one place, but it's still fun.

Sixteen in One by zatyka 2013-12-16T09:46:00

Nice, I really like the all-in-one level and some challenges with the control schemes. If it was only a little bit more responsive that would be great.
And hey, a fellow C2 user. :)

Channel by BradleySmith 2013-12-16T11:00:00

I bookmarked it so I can use it at the suitable moment. :D

"a sword game" by droqen 2013-12-16T08:38:00

The second one is a reliable piece of blade. ;)

Make Tetrominoes! by Crowbeak 2013-12-16T09:05:00

Little bugs/lack of features aside it's a really fun game!

Two things I'd love to see though. Some way to mute the sound (sounds are cool but at some point you can get annoyed) ;)
And more colors because right now the game is a bit too easy when you figure out how to play efficiently.

Below Zero by Kinzata 2013-12-16T10:51:00

I love that the screen is getting more and more foggy the longer you float through space!

You Only Get One Hero by Sertkaya 2013-12-16T10:29:00

Congrats on finishing it!
It could be a base for a nice, bigger game. :)

Crew: A Futuristic Detective Game by metkis 2013-12-17T06:07:00

Great visuals and mood. It would definitely benefit from highlighting the people and rooms mentioned by crew members. Also the score is very random so it would be better if there were none.

hampfy by Jakub Koziol 2013-12-16T09:33:00

Which version/OS are you playing? You can try updating your graphics card driver, it could actually help a lot.

Fractal of Happiness in Outer Space by Astro Assembly 2013-12-16T12:38:00

Nice concept! What number of steps is considered good?

Exterminator by ethankennerly 2013-12-16T08:50:00

Really strong concept. It could work as a base game mechanic for something bigger.

The TORPEDO by windwalkerranger 2013-12-16T09:58:00

Hello fellow C2 user. :)
Nice game, I like the usage of some particle effects and webgl effects (even though my laptop didn't like it as much as I).
It took me a while to figure out how to properly set up torpedos but then I really enjoyed the game. It's not that easy!
And thanks for the built-in timer.

Flight Mecanics by ShinSH 2013-12-16T12:05:00

I really like the fixing your aircraft part. It fits really well.

Only one bullet/rectangle thing. by ob6160 2013-12-16T09:15:00

And you can even check how many bullets are there left. :D
With those angles some of those levels need quite a lot of thinking.

BL1ND by Shaun LeBron 2013-12-16T16:17:00

Wow! So simple and so innovative at the same time. Good job!

Lantern by nanahs 2013-12-16T15:30:00

Cool concept and look!

Your Little Pony by martys 2013-12-16T12:22:00

Nooooo! My pony!
<clicks play again button>
<click click click click> ;)

Cardocalypse by Shigor 2013-12-16T11:33:00

Awesome! It takes quite some time to finish the game but it's really fun and makes you think.
You could improve the readability a bit by adding the outline to the text. Also it would be nice to have some visual indication that under the card there's another one.

Also btw the Mac standalone version works well.

Kolejka by Jorjon 2013-12-16T08:52:00

Mamy się ustawiać w kolejkę po grę? (hehe, suche żarty się mnie dalej trzymają) ;)

Gaea by bach 2013-12-17T08:40:00

It's difficult to understand what's going on at the beginning so some additional instructions + keybindings would help a lot. But other than that great work! Really nice feel.

A realistic depiction of the modern educational society, Part I by Citiral 2013-12-16T08:41:00

Oh... 6/20, so that's why I dropped out...

Princess Kingdom by ncannasse 2013-12-16T14:51:00

Great entry! Awesome graphics and amazing level of polish.

JKSDAG by feiss 2013-12-16T15:21:00

Nice look and feel. Good job!

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Thurgood P. Marshall and the Quest for Ontological Theory Advancement by CherryCupid 2014-04-28T12:22:00

It makes the point and the art is really nice.

Pianall by jomacel 2014-04-28T13:07:00

Simple but really interesting. I like how the sounds can help you memorize the path.

Within the Blue by GresponApps 2014-04-28T12:35:00

Really nice animations! Sometimes it's not obvious why you didn't catch the fish but I found myself in the middle of the crazy chase a few times. :)

Flipside by NathanBrower 2014-04-28T12:56:00

Level design is really promising + interesting puzzles. Controls are quite a bit annoying when it comes to simple movement so parts of the game that should be easy turn out to be pretty annoying.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Bipolar World by havana24 2014-08-28T00:06:00

You don't often see games that use game mechanics to tell the story. Your entry is a great, meaningful example. :)

The Two that Should Not Have Been by andrewkennedy 2014-09-08T23:22:00

Really solid concept and cool graphics! I can see the left path having dark attacks used for reflecting shots. And then the boss could be more complex. But I totally understand why it is how it is, time limits and stuff. ;)

Line Crossing by Lissar 2014-08-27T16:15:00

Really interesting world that introduces surreal pieces in a good pace. It's a bit unfortunate that you can't swap items when your inventory is full and because of that there isn't much choice in the first playthrough. But it's understandable and next playthroughs fix that problem. :)

Any Moment by Jakub Koziol 2014-08-27T12:55:00

@Lissar
Depression sucks hard. The sole fact that you don't have control over many aspects of yourself sucks hard.
It's different for everyone but persistence helps. And it's good to hear that you've been able to finish your game!
Things that are difficult, over time, tend to be more meaningful.

Any Moment by Jakub Koziol 2014-08-27T12:57:00

@liquidminduk

<3

I should make a gif out of the last scene. I'll try to make it later today. :)

Any Moment by Jakub Koziol 2014-08-27T13:02:00

@mess110 and @Jellycakes

Both me and the character in the game (well sometimes I am this character) are up for hanging out during gamedev conferences. The next one I'm attending for sure is GDC in SF. But hey, if there's anything interesting going on anywhere and you're going to be around I'd have a solid reason to go. ;)

Any Moment by Jakub Koziol 2014-08-27T13:06:00

@Vytheros

Thanks!

It is indeed my voice.

Everything, including the font is made by me during the jam. I just knew that I need 3 days to achieve the final result so that's why it's a jam and not a compo. :)

Any Moment by Jakub Koziol 2014-08-28T15:19:00

@43iscoding

I see what you did there. ;)

Any Moment by Jakub Koziol 2014-08-28T17:13:00

@Sunflower

I'm all about ruining the the video games industry! (And I'm a cutie if I can say so myself.)
I'm considering taking part in this jam, we'll see how it goes. I'm quite busy over the next few weeks (finishing a game and such) but I'll try to find a few hours here and there to hack something together.

As for the usage of "Thanks again man. I really appreciate you." I spent a lot of time thinking whether or not I should go with those specific words. In the end I decided to keep the text as it is because the flow of the sentence felt right. I'm still not 100% sure it was the best possible decision and I'd love to hear more opinions on this.

Any Moment by Jakub Koziol 2014-08-28T17:17:00

@esayitch

Thanks!
Stay strong and don't fear to ask for help when you need it.

Any Moment by Jakub Koziol 2014-08-28T17:20:00

@Mase

It's a really interesting idea! I'll try to experiment with this in the future. :)

Any Moment by Jakub Koziol 2014-09-07T13:08:00

@Steve

I don't know if you realize that but your comment didn't bring any value to the discussion.

I get that the definition of what the game is varies from person to person. I get that you may not like something I made. If you're making games because that's what you believe is important and meaningful you start with those. Not everyone will experience the same thing in the same way - it is widely known fact. I value critique, I value views that are different than mine - that's how you can get better.

But your comment boils down to "it's not a game and I don't like it". Is this the constructive criticism? I expect better from the LD community.

Think about it.

BeatGarden by Pfeyffer 2014-08-26T10:01:00

It has a nice Auditorium-ish vibe to it. :)
Nice graphics and good job in general!

Connected Worlds Airlines by quiore 2014-08-26T15:10:00

I don't know if I'm the only case but I don't seem to be able to go past the title screen.

Antbassador by KevinZuhn 2014-08-27T12:36:00

You have some kind of soft spot for awkward movement simulators, don't you?
Anyway great job! The whole thing feels awesome as a whole. And the humor... I'm still laughing. :D

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Nail Gun Hero by rujo 2015-04-21T10:20:00

Pretty solid entry! I really like the set of effects that you're using, just enough to make it look interesting without compromising on the readability.
I think it would be a good idea to tinker a bit with the player collision box (at least a collision box used for bullets) to prevent some unnecessary frustration. Also some visual effects on nails and bullets collisions would make a huge difference.

Tomorrow by Kate Kligman 2015-04-26T18:33:00

It's really hard on the eyes. Possibly because you're using timeouts instead of window.requestAnimationFrame?
Other than that it's pretty solid but in the current configuration you really have to try to avoid windows to see what happens when you lose. ;)
