LD30 — Connected Worlds

Break-Vaders by NukeTheBunnys 2014-08-25T18:56:00

A little too difficult to control, but otherwise good. With SpringPowered's suggestions this game would be even better! Maybe you should think about doing an Android port, perhaps using the accelerometer for one of the games.

Sideline by Vandash 2014-08-25T11:59:00

Is fun, only I die very soon. Maybe the game could be easier with lives or something like that. Or upgrading ship would also upgrade defense. But apart from that, good job!

Fusion by TGL 2014-08-25T18:06:00

A great concept. With better gameplay, more features and improved presentation this could become a full game.

Fun to play, only my eyes and ears hurt now :D

R-elink: A link between worlds by RaycoSantana 2014-08-25T10:40:00

I played the Windows version on a big screen with max graphics, and I have to say, for Ludum Dare, the 3D graphics are amazing! One thing though, you could work a little more on the physics, because it was really difficult to understand what I am seeing. Maybe one could be able to rotate the phone to landscape, that would make it easier.

Mirrored Mittens by Foofur 2014-08-25T14:12:00

Liked the music and the game idea. A level restart would really have been helpful though, as my cat fell out of the world and then the other one got stuck and couldn't jump.

Travel Escape by The Number Guy 2014-08-25T11:27:00

I had many other ideas, but didn't have enough time to make them. Also I feared that on such a small map, people would get confused by many different things. My friends have suggested I make a full game out of this, and I will probably include more features there.

The number on the town shows after how many days Europeans will reach that town. When that number becomes 0, it means that they have reached the town. So you have to avoid entering "0" towns, while at the same time stay in towns to get more gold. I probably have to make a larger map, add more features and improve the algorithm, so the whole gameplay seems more realistic.

Basically: look at the green numbers which indicate how much gold you have, and try to get as much gold as possible.

And yes, I made the music myself in FL Studio, at 1 AM, but I hope it sounds good enough. Thank you for your feedback anyway!

At the beginning you have 50 gold, but that changes when you stay in town and meet new people (you get more gold) or you enter a captured town (you lose gold).

I didn't have time to emphasize this in the game, but the goal is to bring more gold home, not just avoid getting captured. You get more gold by staying in a town.

Thanks for all the feedback by the way!

Simple, but interesting! Really nice idea. Also loved the music!

Abridged worlds by littlerockplanet 2014-08-25T18:44:00

Loved the physics! I know it's a simple space shooter, but seriously! I haven't relaxed and enjoyed a game this much in LD yet!

The soap bubbles were awesome :) Other graphics could be improved though, also enemies could be colored differently to not be confused with my own ship fire. It's quite annoying that there is no option to restart the game after dying. Sometimes I can even still continue playing after game over.

Other than that, I would love to play an improved version with more planets and more enemies, possibly of different kinds.

The Guy Who Lost His Arms by Quetzakol 2014-08-25T13:57:00

Really nice game. The graphics and the background music were awesome. Potato Salad :D

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Super Flummi by Scam 2014-12-09T21:22:00

Nice... I got to level 8 in the first attempt. Controlling the ball was a bit difficult, but the bouncing was nice :)

Snowball Escape by The Number Guy 2014-12-09T20:19:00

It took me 4 hours to think of a game with this theme, so I decided to have snowmen play a game literally on a screen. :D

Snowball Escape by The Number Guy 2014-12-09T21:14:00

Thank you for your comment.

I had a lot of experience from the previous LD, but somehow this time I did not have as much time, didn't feel as good and also was disappointed with the theme, so for some reason I started with the graphics, even though I knew I shouldn't. So you're right, it really did take a lot longer than it should have, and in the end I almost didn't have time for coding basic gameplay.

The idea of the game is that two real, actual snowmen are playing the game on top of a real phone screen. That's why they look a bit weird, but understand that you are looking at the game at an angle, and the snowmen are standing on top of the phone itself; they are not displayed on the phone's screen. The snowballs should appear and disappear near the snowmen's hands, so it should look pretty realistic if you see the perspective. I rushed the gameplay part though, so not everything might look as good. Sorry about that.

I realised the playable area is a bit too small, but I couldn't do anything about it since I had already made most of the graphics. I tried to scale the game relatively to the browser's size, so it might look a bit worse if you have a small screen.

I know that fast pressing the up key can help win the game, but that was the last thing I had time for to fix. So take it as a small challenge to win the game without rapid pressing :)

I'm not experienced in making games, so I didn't really feel that shooting games can be unbalanced. But I'll take this into account and will probably make something new for the next LD. I will also ask my friends to join me next time. Thanks for your advice!

Retro Mashup by ajayajayaj 2014-12-18T19:20:00

Really awesome idea! The graphics could be a bit better :D and the music was too loud, but the overall experience was amazing. You should really expand on this idea and make it a nice full game. 5 stars :)

Ninja Rain by fuzzalicious 2014-12-29T23:10:00

The controls were too wobbly, too little friction as others have said. But that is how ninjas feel, I guess :) Also it was harder to jump with Space than it would be with the up key. Otherwise, really nice game :)

I've Seen This Room Before by gelisam 2014-12-29T22:54:00

Love the idea of going back in time to complete future levels! You should definitely expand on this one.

Dream of Floppies by The Number Guy 2016-08-30T10:00:00

To the contrary, I felt the player is moving too fast relative to the diskettes. I like your idea about changing the speed per-level, however, and will try to implement it in the post-Jam version.
