Really liked the idea, I expected another ending message but liked yours too :)

Really liked the idea, I expected another ending message but liked yours too :)
I liked the story, but blocks are a bit too hard to place, going up takes a lot of time and if you miss you must start from scratch. Maybe being able to jump up through a block could help :)
Had to work a bit to make it work on OSX but liked it :)
Here's *one* recipe (probably not the simplest):
- brew install sdl sdl_mixer sdl_ttf sdl_image
- hg clone https://bitbucket.org/pygame/pygame
- cd pygame
- sudo python setup.py install
- cd../stairs
- # comment lines 19 and 20 of main.py (music doesn't load)
- python main.py \o/
Same problems with perspective and controls, but loved the sound and graphics :)
Beautiful game. Excellent idea ! It's fun and the risk/reward balance works well.
I feel so stupid with my sword over the head, cowardly hitting enemies from the bottom. Really fun and good idea, I think I preferred sword n°2.
I tried to party as long as I can and ended up married, not really the kind of party I expected.
I found the game a bit weird but it's an original and interesting take on the theme.
I really like the idea and the execution, very original take on the 1D.
It's nice to see that the code really computes and projects boxes from a 2D world.
A bit hard but very fun. And those voices... awesome :)
Very fun and original game :)
I had a minor technical problem on OSX though (even after allowing the game in my security settings):
LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file ~/Downloads/OneTake/OneTake.app.
This command solved the problem:
chmod +x OneTake.app/Contents/MacOS/hox
Well designed puzzle, I really like the calm sounds and tile effect.
Here is a Mac OSX build: http://kmichel.info/pighead10/OnceChargedMac.zip :)
Very interesting, I wonder if it's possible to expand it by adding more connected dimensions, with keys to select in which subset you want to travel.
Great idea and I love the physics animation :)
Controls were not so bad, maybe a bit of snapping would help.
The initial goal was roughly to move animals/humans between island to build stable ecosystems. I had enough time but didn't manage to design working game mechanics for this, with interesting goals and things to do for the player. I should have spent more time on the paper before starting to code.
It still was very fun to build the procedural islands and the weird connectivity between them.
Very fun game :)
There is a small bug with the end game screen if you press space at the wrong time but nothing game breaking.
It didn't understand immediately that the numbers on planets are the resources, and that they where a different thing from the number of ships, especially since a ship cost exactly one resource.
Once this was understood, I finally managed to defeat efficiently my opponents and had a lot of fun, good job !
Quite challenging but fun and beautiful.
I really liked the fact that the enemies are the pipes :)
Really cool game mechanics :)
The hard levels were not hard enough, but it's not easy to create and balance a game in 48h.
Really nice artwork, which there were more levels :)
Very smart and beautiful !
Nice game, feels very complete and well polished.
"Sluggish" controls felt great and matched perfectly the theme of the game.
Beautiful and amazing mood. I'd love to see more.
Nice game, graphics and audio fits the mood very well :)
Good interface and good mood.
I didn't really expect to fight in a point and click but it was cool to have two different phases in the game.
Quite hard. The music was a bit too present and the physics are weird, but it's fun to play :)
A bit short but great mood and graphics !
Nice gameplay, frenetic and fun. Only managed a high score of 4 but I'll try again !
A simple game but it works well, the music and sound effets are nice.
I think the tree could look better with even less polys, they look less flat than then rest of the world.
Fun game ! Good variety in the channels, it was cool to go through all of them.
A bit more difficulty in the later levels wouldn't hurt though.
Great interpretation of the theme, must have been fun to code :)
Nice puzzle with an interesting mechanic, the tile animation between levels is cool.
It's not a huge problem but It was a bit tedious to reset all arrows after retrying.
That was a weird experience, liked it :)
Good, hard, puzzle and good use of the theme.
It's a bit annoying though when you end up locked in an island and can't move at all.
Great idea and good puzzles.
Controls were a bit unresponsive, but maybe it's because of my computer. Didn't stop me from enjoying the experience :)
Good idea and deeper than I though once I read the help, my fault.
It's a bit tedious to open and close the trading window, more info and actions on the main map would help, but it's a good game :)
Wow, really awesome !
Very fun to play and well polished, great job !
Cool idea, I had a few game breaking bugs however (such as the ball deciding to hide inside the cube ^^).
Good Job !
The bullets bouncing and falling instead of disappearing are a cool idea :)
This is really great, I love the move-if-you-move enemy.
Great graphics and sounds, coherent mood and I had a lot of fun. Good job !
Good job !
I really loved the "end game" where the game sends more and more units until everything slow down to a crawl, not exactly an intended feature but really fun :)
Very boardgamish, which is cool :)
However, the imperial units in the answers made it really hard to play, even when knowing the answer.
The controls are a bit difficult to use but it's a good idea. The left-right trick works well :)
I had plenty of fun, and died once because I was busy reading the text...
Great theme interpretation :)
Good idea and nice graphics.
Maybe I was too lucky but the puzzle was too easy, I wanted to play for a longer time :)
There's not much to do, but the ability to control two cubes is interesting, could be the basis of good puzzles.
Great game ! I finally managed to beat the game and had a lot of fun.
I love how the world is so dangerous, yet does not care about you, just moving rhythmically and killing you in the process.
I liked the graphics and audio but I think there's a problem with the balance, most of it is too easy to play, except for the instadeath when touching a block, which is very brutal.
Still fun to play though :)
Nice graphics and good controls, it's fun to play with air control :)
Collision with the enemies felt a bit too unforgiving though, nothing major since we can avoid them.
Quite hard, but wow, one of my favorite entries.
Creating good puzzle, interesting, puzzle in a limited time is not easy, and you did an awesome job, bravo !
Really great mood and innovative game.
I didn't quite understand the meaning of the blue bars (the other colors are ok) however, still managed to win :)
Great graphics and audio. I kept playing just to ear more of the soundtrack.
Gameplay was a bit weird, but the different phases are an interesting idea and good interpretation of the theme.
Sorry for the bug, I'll look into it but I'm afraid it's too late to fix it for the compo. I hope it's a rare one, it never happened to me.
Thanks for the report :)
Is there an error message ? Maybe try a downloadable version.
Chrome has recently removed the Unity web plugins from the whitelist which allowed it to run, I'm not sure but I think it also applies to chromium.
If you are able to run other Unity-based games in chromium, then it's another problem, I'll try to look into it, maybe it's something related to the plugin version.
Excellent idea, being able to interact and not just see through the screen is really cool.
It's a bit slow on my old computer so it was a bit hard to jump though.
The voxel effect is cool, too bad it's too dark to fully enjoy it.
Very fun and good mechanics. Penguins are really cute too :)
So many things, just with one banana !
Nice graphics and great idea, I have no experience in fishing so I wasn't very good at it, maybe a small tutorial would have helped. Still a great entry, very fun and cute !
Sweet graphics and camera work, good challenge, a custom font would've been cool to complete the mood.
The music is perfect to calm the nerves after 500 doors rammed :D
Really well polished, great graphics and fun to play. Great job !
It took me a bit of time to get it, but the idea if changing channels it really well done here.
It actually felt more like a puzzle, I'm wondering if the game would have been better without limited lived at all, just trying to figure out how to progress and explore.
Great game !
Good idea, it was a bit hard to use on an AZERTY keyboard though, but still playable enough to have fun.
The procedural cats of destruction weapon was fun, sometimes awesome and sometimes useless.
The game was too big for my screen though, I had to scroll to see what my weapon was, not easy to play like this :p
Very original idea, fun to play, the pianos with momentum are surprising but an interesting mechanic to play with. Good job !
Very original idea and fun to play. Great job !
So that's what happen when you eat too many sausages...
Excellent idea, great mood and very fun to play. Good job !
Hi everyone, thanks for all your comments :)
I added a bit more help in the description, and the list of possible events you can discover.
Very cool idea, well executed and harder than expected, especially when you're locked between two muscles, quite realistic actually :D
Cool mechanic, controls were a bit hmm, sticky ? but nothing unplayable, it still was fun and appropriately challenging to play :)
This is a very cool idea, I agree that personalities would be a great addition, angry unlucky people and things like this,
but we can already feel the bigger idea here. An extended version would be cool.
As for the question, Option A feels more original and compelling to me, more puzzley.
Option B seems hard to manage, being obnoxious to other people and still having everyone enjoy the game seems difficult.
Great atmosphere, I was quite stressed while playing.
Seems like it's not so easy to be a monster, everybody's life is hard ^^
Hehe, crossing the grids is not easy, even with "enough" (maybe not ^^) density. Fun game, nice pixel art :)
Great writing, very fun mix of normal actions and nonchalant killing :)
This is a fantastic entry.
You managed to create good puzzles *and* build a story around them, with two endings !
Puzzle games are quite rare this LD, this one was really good. Great job !
Amazing entry, beautiful and very coherent art.
It feels like a vertical slice of a bigger game, I want to see more :)
Beautiful game.
It was too hard for me to reach the end, not really because of the speed,
but I think I had difficulty "reading" the obstacles, feeling when I'm supposed to jump/slide.
Good idea and fun to play.
The death sequence is a bit long maybe, I want to be able to try again immediately ;)
That was beautiful, great feeling of weight when walking and stomping, great atmosphere.
Nice game, very well polished. The mechanics are great with Just enough difficulty to have fun, very good entry :)
I loved being so big I couldn't play anymore, that was a nice lesson.
I think I like it more without using puke at all.
Fun game and I really like the monster drawing :)
Progressively harder ? :p
It's hard but I still want to play again, good job !
Good idea, the multi-monster control and stacking is really cool and intuitive.
During the first level I was sometimes tricked by the orthographic perspective, I wasn't sure if it was below or in front of something else, not a problem though :)
Thank you princess !
Good game with nice graphics, and cool ending :)
The third puzzle is a bit hard since we can't always see the consequence of activating a panels, a camera cut to the opening/closing door could help maybe.
My keyboard is dead, but not in vain. Great theme interpretation :)
Excellent and very interesting interpretation of the theme with a nice polished look.
I'm wondering if balance and gameplay richness could be improved in a more "tower-defensy" setting, where failure and success comes more progressively, through repeated planning errors vs. efficient defense design.
That was fun, and the music felt perfect for the mood :)
Nice graphics, music and controls, but I was a bit confused.
I think I have to guess the aspects and annotate them in the pause menu, but I wasn't sure what the final goal was.
That was very fun and original, great job !
I wish I had more replacement workers too, so many thieves.. :)
Cool theme interpretation. I was very bad at it but still had fun :)
Ha, I win !
Nice graphics and fun gameplay.
Minor point, I didn't notice at first that the rounds were different.
Surely confusing at first, but it was fun discovering the gameplay without instructions.
The only real problem I had was the input becoming more and more laggy as the game advanced, (strangely it didn't seem to really affect the display framewate, weird).
Nice graphics and interesting mechanics.
The lack of support for non-qwerty keyboard made the game quite hard to play,
even when swapping keyboard layout in the OS, the in-game reminders were very confusing ^^
I wanted to try it but it didn't load.
I put an error log here if it can help you: https://gist.github.com/kmichel/5d893724f6376dbd2b7e
Great art, music and sound effect.
Jumping up was sometimes a bit finicky but I still reached the end, I found the level design intuitive enough to naturally end there :)
Wow, really excellent game !
I was really surprised when the two heads arrived, great idea :)
Got 100% accuracy, I know what is my next job now.
Wow, great music, fun game.
I had to check to be sure it was a compo entry, impressive !
Great monster, great tentacles, fun to play, and just the right difficulty. Good job !
Very fun, feels great, and excellent sound effects (beep beep beeeep :D).
I had a bit of a framerate problem, including using the desktop version on fastest setting, I don't really know why (maybe because of OSX ?)
