LD33 — You are the Monster

Fright Night by Grouflon 2015-09-12T20:31:00

This is really fun! What a clever idea!

The hit detection was a little weird at times, and the lack of depth to walls (colliding with the top of a wall, for example) but not a big deal.

The last level took some timing that was a bit tight.

Overall I really like this one a lot! Some basic sounds, even from bxfr or something, would have gone a long way to help.

Scare Them All! by blurryroots 2015-08-25T04:16:00

I like the concept a lot. The execution feels a little rough, and right-clicking for me kept bringing up the popup menu. Otherwise quite fun.

Rude Bear Realms by Alex Rose 2015-09-12T20:21:00

Played it for a bit, and I really like the idea and when it worked, it seemed fun.

I came across a game-breaking bug where my troops returned home with no gold, and they were stuck in a loop where either their fear would go down, or I'd kill them. The loop only seemed to break when I killed them all, and there was no one left to report... leaving me no way to make money.

I also found things were a bit dull when I didn't have the chance to do anything on some days.

The appeal is there, the writing and humour and aesthetics are all great, the game's just a bit unbalanced and a bit too buggy to really see the 'fun' in it yet. Would love to play a more polished version.

Shadow Creature by Halleflux 2015-09-13T06:11:00

The combat feels pretty good in general, until I come across a legendary enemy with a mob around them. I got about 3 or 4 of each upgrade, but they were still a bit too much for me most of the time.

Some feedback on when you get hit would have really helped. Had fun with it all and all, though.

Of Glorious Nation by Xinelu 2015-08-25T04:12:00

I felt like there may have been a decent game here, especially once I got to the RTS section, but it's a bit hard to know what's going on.

Revenge by azokal 2015-08-25T04:21:00

The only places I think this really needs improvement are spamming the E key (omg my finger!!), and being unable to do anything to dodge some attacks.

Lasted for about 20 waves, and had fun doing so. I think there's potential in the idea for going further with it, and unleashing massive patterns against enemies.

Monster Mash! by grotewold 2015-08-25T03:23:00

The actual scare is the best part. I just wish I didn't need to work so hard for it. Quick and fun, though.

Monster Garten by omaha 2015-08-25T03:52:00

The particle effects are decent, and I especially like the feel and effect of shooting. I think some audio, even some simple bfxr sounds, would have gone quite a long way, though.

Run, Monster, Run! by Arcadonauts 2015-09-12T20:37:00

The theme and concept are pretty clever and I love the idea, but the floaty controls and too easily sliding off screen make it a bit frustrating to play. It's weird when the control feels better when riding a unicycle than when not.

The Unspeakable Horror That Came From Underground by RottenFish 2015-08-25T04:02:00

Really enjoyed the framework you have setup here. The controls feel decent, the graphics are pretty impressive, and smashing fruit carts is really fun.

I almost kind of wish you'd make a game just about smashing fruit carts. :D

The Break Room by Joe Brock 2015-09-13T06:02:00

The voice acting was probably the best part.

The actual gameplay feels a bit non-existent, though... You just need to heal yourself (performance) whenever you're at about half health.

I think there's a lot of potential for this idea of abstracting corporate take-overs into a game, but it needs some sort of tactical or strategic element.

Take a look at the mobile game 'Devil's Attorney'. Using a turn-based gameplay style that's similar could turn the idea into something really interesting.

Ghost Fortress by Mathstr0 2015-08-25T03:28:00

Congrats on your first game jam! Scratch is a pretty good introduction to programming, I hope you enjoyed it!

My favourite part of the game was definitely the audio. The tune wasn't too abrasive, and that "uggghhh" was pretty satisfying.

Corruption by MapleQuest 2015-08-26T16:45:00

It's fixed now, sorry about that!

It was late and I was tired when I did the August 25th update with the extra controls, and I must have overlooked something.

Monster - Your Worst Is Our Best by Ellian 2015-08-25T03:42:00

I'd say my only issue with the game, is that there's so much info to go through, and only a tiny space to do it. When you have a large screen, it can feel a bit frustrating sorting through all the tiny tabs when you know they could fit on the screen.

That said, I enjoyed it quite a bit! I was blown away by the graphics, the mood is chill, and the concept is really unique. I feel like I can see a bit of inspiration from Papers, Please. Documents are fun! :D

Motherflipin' T-Rex! by mantis 2015-08-25T03:50:00

Short, but really satisfying. Love the countdown timer audio for some reason!
