So much fun. So satisfying to stomp on the little ones running away. Love it.

So much fun. So satisfying to stomp on the little ones running away. Love it.
wish it had some sounds :) fun.
i couldn't make it past the second room. pretty fun though.
cant play only linux/mac machines.
xna doesn't seem to play nice with wine/linux.
Can't get it to run on my mac. Hope the OSX version is available soon :)
I couldn't get past depositing my first few blocks of wood.
no unity client for my linux machine :( looks pretty awesome though
the screenshots remind me of half-life 2. Damn I wish unity would run under linux.
great game all around. very nicely done.
XNA doesn't run well in linux+wine environments :( I'm sad, I want to check out more of the 3d title from this LD. This one looks really cool, reminds me of the lava in quake
Wish I could run this on my mac :(
Couldn't get this to run on my mac, tried using winebottler. graphics look really beautiful though :)
The graphics look beautiful. When will unity come to linux? I want to play it so bad.
damn damn damn. one more game i can't play on my mac. I need to buy a machine to play these windows titles!
couldn't get it to run, getting the same error described above (tried running the applet version)
I couldn't get past the first level. what was blocking my way? Did I need to pick something up? How do I interact with the bright yellow blocks that pop up in some parts of the level?
Wonderful transitions, and the hover effect is just so satisfying. Love it.
short and sweet. enjoyed it, thanks.
I couldn't get the game to run but I did watch the gameplay video you linked and this looks like great fun.
Aaaahhh I want to play this game. I could only see the gameplay video but it looks amazing. Wish I had a windows machine to try out these XNA titles.
not only is this game nicely polished and fun, it has a ton of potential still left in it. the graphics are beautiful, love the lighting.
Very cool and different. Love the gardening concept.
Fun. Inspiring. This is your first game? Amazing work.
I love the concept. I got stuck after dropping a few of those items on the stage. Not sure what I was supposed to do next :)
I was getting out of memory exceptions immediately after starting the program.
I couldn't get very far. Fireballs weren't acting in any way I could predict :(
This game is incredible. I had so much fun once I figured out what I was supposed to be doing.
The music is amazing. Are you sure this shouldn't be in the Jam category?
can't run on my linux/mac machines :( looks pretty though
That was hilarious! Especially the scene with the king. Love it.
i really really wish there was a unity plugin for linux machines. this looks like fun.
couldn't get it to run on my 2011 iMac running 10.7.3
some sound would really fill in this atmosphere. at least i got it running under wine :) very pretty.
couldn't get it to run on my mac or linux machines
I could only walk around the first level, then it switched to 'if only that were true', and the controls stop working. love the music and the art.
this was hilarious and very fun. nicely done!
I could get the character to jump once or twice, then he would be stuck and I had to restart the app.
Seemed to get stuck in difference places each time i tried. I really wish i could have picked up that key!
couldn't get it to run on my mac. really wish i had a machine to play this.
i listened to the music but couldn't get the game to run on my mac. soundtrack was excellent. wish i had something like that in my game.
Very nice, love the polish. I couldn't figure out how to get out of the cave, will have to give it another shot when I'm not at work :)
Really incredible work. Perfectly executed all around.
wonderful game.
couldn't run this on my mac or linux machines :(
loads of fun and very difficult. I loved it.
is that being playing on a 7x7 go board?
looks like so much fun. couldn't get it to run on my mac under winebottler.
I love it, unlike anything I've ever seen. Very very cool.
couldn't get it to run on my linux machine under wine. wish i had an xb360 gamepad to try this with.
I'm not sure what I should be doing, but the graphics are pretty neat.
that's pretty awesome. the controls seemed pretty sensitive, but the gravity and tractor beam parts were really cool.
Incredible use of sprites. This was a lot of fun.
Even as it stands, this is fun to play with. I'd love to see you build a few more levels and string them together in some fashion. So close to being a complete game, don't stop now.
i think i need to learn inkscape. these graphics are so crisp.
This game is beautiful. Hard to control the bombs that you throw. I think if you shortened the timeout on those bombs it would work better.
ahahahahahahahahaha. wonderful concept.
I really enjoyed running around on the surface of the planets, but I couldn't get used to the controls when flying. I also couldn't seem to actually hit one of the tinies.
Pretty neat idea.
couldn't get it to run in wine on my linux box. something about a missing data folder. maybe the .rar wasn't packaged correctly?
A wonderful and fully polished game. best i've seen so far.
love the font. i think i picked the same one for my game :)
http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&uid=5229
Lots of fun. I just wish I could shoot diagonally.
This was really great. I think some parallax scrolling would really put it over the top as a platformer :)
the sounds were priceless. especially the 'level complete' tune. talent.
that was pretty hard. some of those enemies jump/drop on you really fast :)
i'm not sure what i just did but it was awesome.
pretty funny. were there more wolf attackers coming if i waited longer? they were my favorite part.
Very fun. Audio was perfect. The linux community needs more games like this.
Thank you everyone for the kind words.
I am working on an android release this week, just need a day of rest after the weekend. iPhone will be more difficult, but I'd love to make that happen.
My personal best score is 3555. Has anyone done better?
Regarding the theme: The idea was that you're playing in the 'tiny' world of a single leaf, trying to navigate a tiny stream of water, with the occasional firefly buzzing past you and lighting the way.
There is definitely a prize if you beat 10000. More than one person can win the prize.
Regarding the theme: The idea was that you're playing in the 'tiny' world of a single leaf, trying to navigate a tiny stream of water, with the occasional firefly buzzing past you and lighting the way.
Thanks again everyone!
edbadiux: that's a great score! i haven't managed to score that well after many tries :) remember, there is a special bonus at 10000.
These levels are in fact procedurally generated. They follow a sine wave of varying amplitude, with a random +/-1 added to give it the smaller details near the shore.
I ran out of time before I could test more complicated waveforms with varying frequency, but I'm working on an android version that includes that an much more :)
Thanks for the feedback!
Oh, and yes, there really is a prize if you reach 10000 or greater. Many people have reached 5000, but 10000 is possible if you can stay focused long enough.
I just scored 10559!!!! It is officially possible to win the prize :)
"i feel dirty" yes.
couldn't run it on my mac or linux boxes :(
This game has a ton of potential. As others mentioned, we would love to see more interactivity with the saucers when they are off-ground. The controls feel like we should be shooting them while they are flying around above us.
i really enjoyed this one. nicely done
i was only playing single player, couldn't get into it :(
looks pretty awesome but can't do silverlight :(
Wish I could run this on my mac or linux machines.
I didn't get any audio. had fun playing though :) pretty challenging jumping on the tall 1-wide pillars. seemed like the newgrounds flash wrapper was causing it to skip the main menu?
that was cool.
couldn't get the linux-64 build to run (ldd shows issues with libSDL_mixer-1.2.so.0 and libSDL_ttf-2.0.so.0).
I didn't quite understand what to do, but it was pretty cool for a few minutes there :)
Incredible graphics. I too had a hard time figuring out the controls. It was also very clever combining the HUD/time/score into the level design the way you did. It took me a couple of deaths before I realized I was even playing the game and should have been controlling the boat :)
Some sounds would have made this really incredible. Graphics were wonderful.
not having any luck playing xna games on my mac or linux+wine.
Couldn't really 'play' the game. not sure what i was supposed to do after killing the firing squad.
very fun. This could work great as a mobile game, steer by touching the screen in the direction you want the car to move?
Fun and loved the music/sounds. The characters' movements could have been fleshed out a bit more to provide better feedback on the controls.
It felt a bit laggy/slow, some added pace will do wonders.
Can't run XNA 4.0 games from my mac or linux machines.
I don't agree that all games should be browser games, but I do wish there were more cross-platform titles.
very fun. also very hard to play with a touchpad.
wouldn't run on my linux machine, chrome 18
fun. is there a way to shoot the birds that doesn't involve clicking the 'bullets'?
That was fun.
that's really impressive. what was the plan for this game?
you should keep working on this.
I had fun playing this. Wish it was just a bit faster-paced.
This was pretty cool. I really enjoyed the emotionality.
I tried running in a windows VM, but it's saying it requires an XNA-compatible graphics card.
Holding out for the linux/mac port :)
This was fun. I tried playing a couple of times but was frustrated that the computer was beating me so handily. Once I started to lose, I really wanted to start over, but I couldn't figure out a way other than reloading the entire game (playing the web version), which took a long time to load.
Seriously though, this was cool. I just wish it was easier the first couple of rounds, hard to tell what I was doing wrong.
This is an amazing game. So much polish.
Yeah.... level 3 was thrown together at the last moment, I didn't realize how hard it was going to be before it was too late.
I'm working on a post-compo version with a more reasonable progression of difficulties (and some CC audio so you don't go crazy listening to the same short loop over and over again). I'll post on the front page when that's ready to go.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I learned so much last weekend, I can't wait for LD25.
Very nice job.
Really excellent execution. Lots of polish. Great game.
The graphics are pretty great. I had a hard time not dying. I need to try again with a proper mouse, laptop trackpad isn't cutting it.
This was pretty cool. Couldn't figure out the cube communication bits, but it was beautiful.
Excellent work. Can't wait to see more games in this genre.
i had the same issue with the fill rectangles breaking out of the expected area.
Sure wish I had a kinect right now. Thanks for the video. Nice work.
This was fun. Harder than it looks.
Graphics are amazing. I couldn't find any active servers though, so I was only able to wander around and shoot the walls .
Is there an issue with the web build or was just too impatient? I never saw anything other than my trail. Didn't look anything like the screenshots or intro preview.
Very moody. This was great. I loved the audio.
Did I take the wrong route? I didn't see any interactive elements after several minutes of bouncing around. Not sure what else I was supposed to do.
I loved the geometric graphics. Very clean and fun to look at. I felt the audio needed some TLC. The 'electric shock' sound in level 3 was like fingernails on a chalkboard.
Absolutely loved the in-game tutorial.
hardcore, indeed. i couldn't get past the first couple of moves.
Wonderful shooter. Nice and difficult. Requires you to focus on two goals at once. Really enjoyed this.
Nicely done. The audio is fantastic.
Love the concept. Wish I had a better idea what effect my choices were having and how well i was doing.
if only he was shooting a potato gun...
great game.
Tiger Woods giggled and out popped a Japanese. What?
Also, this is amazing.
I couldn't score. After re-reading the instructions I realized that's because I needed to wait for the balls to come to rest. Some minimal sounds (on contact) would have made this a lot more engaging.
this is fantastic. i feel like i'm always off by 1 pixel. me, not the game.
Hilarious. Fun. Angry Birds will never be the same. I love it.
Funny take, really hard to get the hang of controls - I wasn't exactly sure what I was supposed to do...? I like the concept a lot though haha
(also little bug note: the countdown timer counts up to 5 rather than down to 0)
This game is more fun than it should be haha - humor is great, and I love Grog's sound (some of the other sfx could use some touching up). Gets perhaps a little too difficult a little too fast..
Nicely done! Very satisfying sound effects, particularly the cannon, and the graphics are great too. A little unclear what's happening at the end..?
South Park!!! haha Great take on the theme (and love that reference)
Great mood! I glitched out when the ghost pushed me out of the building and into the void... But love the use of 3D audio. One thing to consider - rain (as opposed to thunder) might be a more constant sound, so it may work a little better to have the rain be static (not 3D) and the thunder 3D? Nice work though!
Nice use of 'fuzz' in the backing audio, gives it a really nice atmosphere that fits with the whole vibe. I found the audio "smash" noises that happen after you've won the level annoying - maybe have a different sound once it no longer matters if you've hit the target? But nice one, would love to see more levels!
Cool bullet concept -hard to get the hang of at first, but makes for really interesting game play. Good stuff!
Insane graphics - very very impressive for 72 hours. Atmosphere works nicely, especially with foley sounds (birds, etc. are great, although they quickly give the impression that they might be looping a little too much for the amount of diversity in the track). Made me want to play WoW again haha. Well done!
Best game I've played today so far. This is also a fantastic way to develop melody recognition/learning - keep going with this!!!
Just spent (again) way too much time playing this... is it beatable?
Great graphics, great puzzles, and who doesn't love monkeys! The music killed me after a couple minutes though, an option to mute would really be great here.
Fun game! (played the post-comp); a thought: with music as present as this, it would be nice to have a mute feature (or to have a different track with each level). Nicely done though!
I like the concept, but it's not really fun or interesting enough to keep you in there - maybe either make the multipliers bigger (so game progresses faster) or have a bit more that you can put input into?
I love what this is getting at. It's a really innovative use of audio, and the idea has a lot of potential. What frustrated me is that the L/R/Z placement of mines couldn't have any audio panning (of course, because you're sharing a single set of earbuds) data. I understand that this is totally by necessity (and ratings reflect that :) ), but it'd be very cool to have an implementation where you can still get pan data to help find the mines.
Great mechanic - the switching from 2 to 3 dimensions really makes the game work! Like Piat, I eventually got to some puzzles that became a little too frustrating, but it's a great start. The theme music is really nicely done, great use of piano, especially with some of those low notes that hit around min8 or so. Nice!
Great voice acting! The controls were frustrating, I quickly felt fairly claustrophobic in the ship - but then again that got across a certain aesthetic very effectively.. The missle launching/unauthorized launch concept was a little unclear...
Great looking game - especially with water, and the fog is nicely done. The controls were, for me, somewhat prohibitive. I got a little bored dealing with the mechanics of the boat. But overall well done!
The mechanics are lovely. It's begging for a soundtrack of some kind.
I love the drawing style graphics, really nice aesthetic. I probably spent longer playing this than anything else today - its very involved (double jump ftw).
I LOVE the graphics!!! And I enjoyed the controls too. Wish I could make sound for yoU! Thanks much
That was really fantastic. The pace was perfect, as I continued to discover new abilities and explore more of the world.
The environmental animations were spot on. It's amazing what a different the water falling and the movement of the surface of the deadly white lake/pond things can do to create an emotional attachment to the world you're experiencing.
I'm keeping this entry in my "inspiration" bookmarks.
this was really great. a little dark at times. the animations and characters are fantastic. the sound of the cat talking was delightful.
Lots of fun. Very difficult.
I think sticking to spacebar for jumping might have made it a little easier to pick up. I spent a while trying to get used to Z/X controls.
This was nicely put together.
Graphics are nice and clean and minimalist. I love that.
The ship was difficult to control.
Another fantastic title from orangepascal. Love the gameplay here.
Frame rate did suffer on my laptop (Mac). There were some rendering artifacts to the left of the screen.
This was great. My high score was 508.
I think a soundtrack would make it significantly more enjoyable. I would also suggest slowing it down just a touch and adjusting the "you're hitting something" sound to be a little less jarring.
This is an excellent game. Fantastic pace. The difficulty progresses perfectly.
The game crashed immediately after beating the level pictured above (middle-center, with the triangle of obstacles to jump through). It made me sad. I really wanted to see what came next.
Very nice work. This was fun.
Unfortunately for me I got stuck immediately after dying. No amount of key mashing would let me exit the "move around in time" mode.
I'm still getting crashes on both the Web and Desktop versions :(
This was fun. I think a little audio would go a long way here.
Graphics are nice and clean. This is fun. Music is excellent.
It was going well at first but I started sticking to every wall I touched, and couldn't seem to get back to playing normally.
Link says web, but I'm landing on a google share for a .exe.
Is there a web build? *crosses fingers*
YES. This was amazing. I was having such a nice time pushing piles of crap onto the sensor, and then the COOKIES.
Thank you for this.
I loved the into graphics, but I felt that the wall jumping mechanic wasn't working as expected.
Some audio would go a long way to making this most engaging.
I had a hard time in the first level (took many tries to beat it). The next level seemed almost impossible.
This was fun. It took a bunch of mashing keys to get it to move from the title screen to the pre-game menu, but after that it was good times.
Really liked to music. Wish there was a more significant screen effect when something was splatted.
Thanks everybody!
The controls definitely left something to be desired.
The aiming is implemented relative to the *camera*'s viewpoint, not the player's, which means pointing "down" will produce a different trajectory depending on where the player is on the field. It made sense when play testing on a gamepad but far less so on a keyboard.
I also think using Unity's physics to control the player was a mistake. It's far too slow to react. Next time :)
Nice work. It's amazing how much fun I had despite having much gameplay. Rather than "fixing" that, I think you embraced it, and it worked out wonderfully.
I'm confused about the mac port. Can you explain what's going on with this?
“Shieldmaiden.app” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.
What security settings are you suggesting that we should lower?
I really enjoyed the clean style of your graphics and effects. The game is complicated but fun.
This sounds really cool. Any chance of a mac build?
5/5 across the board. This was the best game I've played since Nuclear Throne. Nice work.
This is cool! This is very similar to the effect I tried to achieve in my game. I'd be interested to see what yours plays like with mouse controls :)
Very nice work.
I would love to see a post mortem describing where things where 40 hours into the event, where each component/feature stood in terms of development, integration, and polish, and how you made the decision to switch to the jam.
I would pay for this. Nice work.
It took me a second to figure things about but this was really quite fun. I agree the a little more jump power would make it more approachable. It took me a while to get out of the initial bottom area :)
I made it through the tutorial levels without really knowing what I was doing to succeed, so it was hard when I got to more complicated puzzles and wasn't sure which mechanics I should be focusing on.
The graphics are beautiful. The music and sound effects are lovely. I enjoyed this.
The minimal graphics are charming.
I felt a little claustrophobic at times, but I think that might have been necessary to make the level navigation into more of a puzzle?
That was really hard. I think I started to get the hang of it but once I got moving fast it seemed like the game was out of my control.
The music in really nice and the art style is beautiful. I especially like the parallax in your star field.
Very nice work. Music is great. Gameplay is nice and tight. Fire extinguisher mechanic works wonderfully. Difficulty progression is spot on.
Animations are great. I particularly enjoyed the use of screenshake, which really helps to sell the action.
The music and concept are beautiful.
Nice work! Unfortunately I had trouble playing with my xb360 controller on my mac. Seemed like only half of the controls were working. Are you using InControl or unity's native input API?
The music and graphics and atmosphere were wonderful. I was confused by the gameplay and the low mouse sensitivity.
nice work! music, audio, animations, and particle effects are all strong.
I had trouble with the input controls at first (not responding to my WASD keypresses) but after I switched to fullscreen and it worked perfectly. I was running firefox on my mac.
Your webserver is treating the mac app like a directory instead of a file, so we can't download it from a browser.
Any chance of a mac or web build? I would love to check this out.
This was hard! It's fun.
It felt like I couldn't move while shooting (feeding) the customers, which made it really hard to get up and down the screen while firing. Maybe my timing's just not that great?
You have to click to start the game. Maybe it was still on the title screen?
Thanks Park!
I'll concede the part about improving the title text and providing a bit more direction. I was going for a minimalist appeal but might have gone too far.
Nice work! I've always loved the chain reaction mechanic.
If I could change just one thing: the sound effects should move up through the scales to reinforce the sense of progression.
I had trouble playing on my mac's touchpad. I've got right-click bound to two-finger click, but that didn't seem to register properly.
I loved the audio, especially the shifting tones when you set a piece of landscape. That's one of my favorite effects.
This is great. Nice and simple and clean. Well executed.
It's just crazy how much content you've managed to build in 48 hours. Your color selection is wonderful.
Nice work.
the audio was great.
the game was pretty decent, though very hard to play on a touchpad. I'll have to try this again with a real mouse.
Nice! I loved the premise, and I particularly loved the animation of the employees.
Was there something I could click to go back and show my dad how wrong he was?
Mood, graphics, fun, it's all here. I'm amazed at how much you managed to squeeze out of two or three basic sounds. Visually stunning.
This is an excellent piece of work. The animation, the mood, and lighting, the character design, the particle effects, so many things here are just spot on.
Here you have mastered the element of surprise. Excellent work.
I liked the game.
I felt like the controls could use some refinement (like allowing me to modulate the size of the jump with longer/shorter keypresses). I also thought that with all the lovely animations on screen, I was surprised when I died or when a level ended and I wasn't really rewarded with some kind of "juice". It just sort of switched modes with no fanfare.
I think a little bit more attention on the primary actions would go a long way towards making this a great little game.
The character selection telling me "wrong" was the greatest. I honestly laughed out loud.
Nice work. It's actually quite hard, and I think that's a good thing.
Unity is crashing when I try to play the web version.
Very nice.
I was sad when I won, I didn't want it to be over :)
The audio is fantastic. The graphics are lovely. And you've already managed to package this and release on Google Play?
Congrats.
It's impressive how much of the SMB theme you've managed to recreate here. I didn't have much success with the game in the traditional sense, but it definitely made me want to try.
I had a really hard time trying to play it on my macbook, it didn't seem to recognize my right-mouse button (mapped to two-finger click). Maybe that's a Unity bug?
There was a LOT of text to read up front, and the font was a little hard to read. I bet if you added the instructions to your description it will help some people out once they get in game :)
A very direct interpretation of the theme :)
The audio is great. The variety of the character selection is a nice touch.
This is wonderful in so may ways. Very nice work.
I really enjoyed this. The mood and music and effects and voice work all blend so beautifully together.
This is wonderful. It's deceptively hard. I want to try it with a gamepad.
Thanks everyone!
I definitely see where you're coming from regarding the movement speed. I fear my original plans to make an action game bled into my later attempts to make something peaceful.
I tend to make the same mistake in every LD: I don't turn all my systems into an actual *game* until late in the weekend, leaving very little time to balance and correct the finer details. I will try to remember this the next time around.
All games should have a horn button.
This is great. A nice simulation.
I'm not sure why the campaign actions are only available if i click on my candidate (why not just leave them on screen all the time?), but once I figured that out everything made sense and worked well for me.
The game didn't seem to want to trigger level completion for me. Do you have to get it 100% correct to move on to the next level?
Looks like the web link points to a windows executable? I was hoping to check it out in browser :)
This is very funny.
I wish the cat was animated. I so badly wanted to see him/her doing tricks while in the air. Maybe I just played too many snowboarding games growing up?
this is great!
I wish there was a counter and a high score. I was really proud of my last run but I can't say how good it was.
This is wonderful. The ambient audio is great.
I would like to see a bit more play in the rope physics, the swinging motions started to get a bit repetitive after a while.
