Truly amazing!

Truly amazing!
This was amazing. It never actually seemed like something made for a game jam. Graphics, audio, and story are all excellent complements to some great gameplay with a really cool idea behind it.
I didn't wake up today thinking I was going to rate a game 5/5 across the board but here I am
You really should consider further developing this and getting it on Steam or something. I'd buy it.
Great writing, and very unorthodox. Nice one!
Ooh, it's one of the games I kept seeing pics of in irc! Excellent visual style, good audio, and engaging gameplay!
Excellent concept and (as far as I could tell) seamless execution! Bomb firing sounds got a bit repetitive, but not much to do about that.
I agree- even the old asteroids game (I think) let you have a few shots at once. Excellent concept, but frustrating execution imo. I at least got far enough in (the second level) to see what you were doing - I was curious at first since the first level didn't have anything weird about it.
awesome music!
Quite frustrating... it's hard to see where the barriers will be until you've already crashed! Nice visual/audio theme, though
Excellent audio and filter effect! I got a nice TRON feeling.
lol
Yeah the web version doesn't work. I'll look at it after I've had some time to cool off. But I'll look at the desktop crash- that's definitely not supposed to happen.
Oh, damn. I changed a LinkedList into a HashTable and back again, but not without... anyway. new versions uploaded. If changing it now disqualifies me, hell with it, I made a game anyway :D
I've taken down the web link until it gets fixed. Lolninjacatz: thanks for the feedback! omaha: if the new desktop version still doesn't work, can you give me some details about that (run the jar from a command prompt/shell and tell me the debug output)?
sknoslo: trying that right now, thanks!!
shuanDang: ? it ends with you defeating Git, Eclipse and Box2d and uploading a game... (unless you mean the "pretend it's finished" remark, which comes from my paranoia since this is my first LD)
goddamn github still isn't working, grumble grumble
daedrius: thanks! Yeah balancing was an issue, there's not much testing that can be done in a LD.
terraco: no, the normal map stuff is a homebrew thing I slapped together yesterday while I was still confused about what idea to go with. I knew I'd want the effect and it gave me something to do while pondering. A bit NIH, maybe, but it worked out.
Thanks everyone!
ryebread761: I was wondering about control schemes - I should have added arrow keys as well as some indication of what the controls were, but by the time I thought about that the deadline was almost up.
Thanks everyone!
Does it work for anyone on Windows 8? I can't test on that platform, but I have java 7 as well and it runs fine on win7.
leave it to someone doing LD to upload a game in the middle of a tornado. I'm imagining you as some sort of ninja coder, fixing bugs and catching exceptions as a deadly whirl of debris flies around right outside your window, threatening to destroy you at any moment...
Woot, another one I saw on irc! Sounds got a bit repetitive, but the atmosphere was very nice.
Audio didn't get repetitive, which is great considering it's an LD!
amazing soundtrack!
Excellent atmosphere. Bright Player sprite clashes a bit with tha dark, desaturated background, but the audio is amazing.
Great concept! reminds me of that arcade game, Star Castle. very fun!
Nice consistent aesthetic and sound design!
Amazing game! The music really sets a relaxing mood and the audio never gets repetitive. Visual design is also very clean. I've been playing with the idea of evolution-based gameplay for a while, and this gets a lot of it very right.
Did it in 7! My strats: At first, optimize for low dig interval (!) and high preference for digging, collecting coins, and traveling. Around generation 3-6 or so you get a windfall- evos are collecting many more coins than before, but you've spent so little that modifying the gene pool is still cheap. During this period, keep dig interval at 0 and digging/collecting preferences high, and optimize for lifetime, followed by speed and dig strength. Evos should now be clearing the majority of the map now, so spend all your points on preference for entering heaven. At this point, it usually only takes a couple more generations.
Like all stages, the first stage is a bit random. If no one's digging anything, your first couple generations are going to be painfully slow, and you might just want to refresh the page and get a better first batch.
Audio, graphics, and gameplay play well together. Very fun and replayable.
how do I shot web
Not bad! It got frustrating, and I quit after dying to spikes after getting past the "keep trying" part on level 2. Would be nice if there was some way to replenish power (maybe there is and I didn't get to it).
same here. I just kept clicking on the warp cores, wasn't really sure of what else to do. I really like the art, though! Excellent aesthetic.
I don't see what to do once I get to the stage with the hammer. The game doesn't work there, and I can't use my usual solution (smashing it with a hammer) unless there's a control I don't know about.
Quite difficult!
Excellent atmosphere! I like the use of shadows. Collision got a bit frustrating at times when I collided with the edge of trees and stopped moving.
interesting concept. Reminded me of last LD's theme, "beneath the surface". Also reminded me a bit of Evoland when gameplay and graphics elements started appearing.
I second what laremere said. This is excellent. All the graphics and audio seem so consistent, the game has an excellent atmosphere.
