LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Crystal Myth by TeamInCharge 2014-04-29T11:00:00

Nice, I like it! Looks nice! A bit short though, and I got stuck in some areas, but I love the crystals! I really wanted to get all. I hoped there would be a big treasure chest behind the door, but it was the blinding light of something. Probably the treasure chest YEAAAAH!

Nice nice :)

Beware The Balrog by hadesfury 2014-05-01T19:46:00

the level ends with an endless nothingness? :P I like the idea of a downward race against friends. Never seen that before. You can see that you put effort into this game and its graphics. Well done. I like that you got controllers working in Unity. Has always been a hassle for me. (until I found the InControl library). I dont know really why, but the controls are a bit confusing though. It feels reversed for some reason.

Cull Shot by halogenica 2014-04-28T10:06:00

Looks cool! Cool animations and was fun! It is a nice game mechanic. I saw it a year ago too with some other jam but in a multiplayer form. Like it

Surflight by iiechapman 2014-05-01T20:29:00

Windows version would be nice! I now rated based on your video :)

Cthulus are Beneath the Surface by Pent 2014-05-01T17:36:00

Nice that you have online multiplayer in the browser! :D nice and simple game :)

GroundBreaker by Figglewatts 2014-05-01T16:34:00

Nice little game! Got quite far but then I died while flying into my base, because I didn't have enough fuel to land in it xD UI is clear, was easy to understand. Although I wasted 280$ on refuel but I didnt know that a fuel tank upgrade of 100$ would also refuel :P

Body Defence by stenol 2014-05-01T20:26:00

Made it to wave 9. Nice TD! A simple improvement would be to have the range of a tower visible when placing it or when hovering over it with your mouse. Nice work

Beyond the Surface by Artylo 2014-05-01T19:36:00

I had some issues with the void mode. It was not clear that it would require energy and that it was the reason why I couldn't use it. I was stuck at the beginning for quite some time. Almost "rage" quit :) but I really like the art, especially the first level! I like the balloons and the columns. After that part, it is quite short and the boss was quite easy. It was not clear that you could just pass by the dudes in the fire level. Also the whole game could almost completely be completed by just rolling and rolling until you warp to the boss. That was a bit too bad. I liked the story :D

SUBLEVEL ZERO by Lyje 2014-04-29T14:43:00

I think the game looks amazing! Great mood and atmosphere and the music helps a lot to create a sense of exploration. It does remind me an awful lot of descent, both in good and in bad ways. I think some of the combat moments in descent weren't that good or enjoyable and you managed to capture that quite well as the only thing I don't like that much here is the combat. The sense of being in control and the feedback from where I have been hit needs some work. Sometimes you get insta-killed and you have no idea where you've been hit from.
The map is also a nice addition and if I have to pinpoint the most enjoyable moment than it would be flying through that slightly curvy room in the main screenshot, that just feels right. Well done!

Beneath a red sky by allinlabs 2014-05-01T17:14:00

Nice level generator. Although at some point i think I couldn't win at all, because I couldn't find a fire extinguisher and the rest of the paths were blocked with fire. But perhaps I missed something.

Under The Surface by insane66 2014-05-01T20:38:00

:)

Lithospheric Hyperexploitation by Infraviolet 2014-05-01T17:22:00

The cursor was offseted which was quite confusing. And why is it installation-location-dependent? The ui was unclear and you get no visual feedback of the fact that you are mining or being hit by spiders, or placing a turret. Also, the music is not really horrifying :P

Final Move by Team-KwaKwa 2014-05-01T20:17:00

Awesome!! Love the art, the presentation, the audio, the story, and the humor! I like the references to memes and GOT :P lovely! I just find it weird that he can't write, but he CAN move a piece on the chessboard? :P why is that?

Too bad it's so short :(

They Came For My Mushrooms by D2FXRayG 2014-05-01T17:50:00

This was fun! The level builds up so nice! :3 After a restart I had infinite lives (it said 5 but it never went down), I could die as many times as I wanted :D yayayaaaa! I think it's because my computer loves me.

Amy's Rescue by WhiteWolf93 2014-05-01T16:53:00

Hehe this was qutie fun :) Score is 3:2:13! It is actually qutie hard to die because there are enoug health pickups and if you spam the fire button, you will be fine. Cool level design. A bit jerky movements and hard to read fonts, but other than that: nice work :D

Memory Eater by Zyper 2014-05-01T20:40:00

"Press secret key to come" is it me being dirty, or the creator? :P

Scyphozoa by Grand Mustasche Studios 2014-05-01T16:45:00

Short little game. Was not really that much fun in my opinion. A bit too simple. It's nice that you have some kind of "tentacle simulation" going on here though. Reminded me of the game Osmos.

TakeOver by randyyaj 2014-04-29T11:08:00

The game never finished loading.

Under by zanenga 2014-05-01T17:43:00

it has a story! yay! I liked the puzzles, and the green trampoline thingies are fun :) nice one

Striking Innocence by LordDathing 2014-04-29T11:20:00

To me it is quite unclear what things do in the game. There is a lot of juicyness (screenshake, attack sprites etc) but I do not understand what they do and how they affect my score. At some point (around 35k points) I cannot seem to gain more points at all.
The graphics remind me of Edmund McMillen, which is a good thing.
Nice job, but try to communicate to the player what the interactions mean.

Living in a Kaboom submarine by copain 2014-05-01T16:59:00

This is a nice one. I really like this idea. Could definitely be fun with more people. Could use some indicator that it got your decision curing the timer (not which one), and the switches can be a bit faster. Also, the filters on the voice over are a tiny bit painful to my ears

Underworld Evolution by StudioWolfox 2014-04-28T22:49:00

Hey thanks everyone for the great feedback!!! I totally agree with the fact that it is a bit too overwhelming and that the feedback is a bit lacking. Gave it a little tweak.

Also, a huge reason why the pathfinding values don't feel that intuitive is because of a tiny bug in the goal finding algorithm: instead of choosing the one the Evo LIKED most, he choose the one he HATED most.... oops!! Uploading the fix right now :)

I'm super glad you all like it! I will soon start rating yours!

Underworld Evolution by StudioWolfox 2014-04-29T00:29:00

OK, FIXED! Along with some other tiny bugs :) Now the properties should work nice and intuitively!

Underworld Evolution by StudioWolfox 2014-05-17T21:14:00

Thank you all for the great feedback and comments :D

I am very passionate about the mechanics and I am very very happy with this game. I would LOVE to continue this idea. I have already made some plans for the "full" version of the game which I would probably release on mobile devices as its main platform.

@Kimau So, ye! I will be doing something with it! Thanks for your great comment and the idea of the suicide button and the family tree. Will most probably implement the suicide button in the final product.

FoxyTank by matthias_zarzecki 2014-05-01T17:31:00

I like the mood! The controls needed a minute to get used to, but afterwards it was smooth as butter. Nice models and tire trails. Nice that you have a random name button hehe. Could use a bit more juiciness when killing enemies or grabbing parts though :)

Beneath the Mushroom by Zer0XoL 2014-05-01T17:07:00

By clicking on a force it already costs energy? So i was switching between buttons and that already caused my energy to be depleted. Seems like a fun game, but I can't really get the hang of it unfortunately
