LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Rewire by drilltail 2014-05-01T01:34:00

Wow, that was really difficult. LOVE the mechanic of swapping abilities-- that's so clever. The sprites are really cute too.

Teddy & His Cat by ruthiepee 2014-04-29T19:11:00

Thanks for the kind words and criticisms alike, everyone.

@laker: The font is "Amatic" by Vernon Adams. It's a free font. I agree that the flow could be better! I would've add more Easter egg animations and more obvious "hints" if I'd had time. There's almost no programming involved (just buttons in Flash and a few if statements) so I had the entire 48 hours to focus solely on art.

Gorilla 2100 by leparlon 2014-04-29T01:59:00

Good fun game. Nice work on the multiplayer. I like the added physics of the water; it makes the game much less predictable.

Wriggle Worm by gikdew 2014-04-30T01:18:00

Nice splash screen, I like the friendliness of the game. I thought they were fish at first, but then I remembered the title (duh). Great controls. Got 394 on the first try!

The Huntress by xhunterko 2014-04-29T02:08:00

The graphics remind me of those old Atari games where you can't really tell what the sprites are supposed to be... Also, I swam over about a hundred screens and never found anything?

Balancitos by NickZangus 2014-04-29T02:14:00

Fantastic game! Simple yet challenging. Love the physics on the water and the bright, fun graphics, especially that beautiful teal color for the water. Didn't realize the people were little beans until I looked closer at a screenshot. Haha.

Sink or Swim by noom 2014-05-01T01:10:00

My fish got so fat it could hardly swim, haha! My score says 490 but the score at the top left says 500 which is kind of funny too. I liked the gameplay a lot, actually. I found the high-pitched tones in the music pretty annoying though. Nice work!!

Tick Attack by hanoth 2014-04-29T02:20:00

Absolutely disgusting. And hilarious. Both the Flash and HTML5 versions work great. I felt like the 'buzzing' noise could be quieter so you can hear the music better. The music is perfect! Nice job!

Rat King by woodenrabbit 2014-04-29T02:23:00

I am still terrible at this game but it's fun nevertheless. So satisfying to get all the mice in a big lump like in the screenshot. Ugh yeah! Flocking good!

No Eyes Willy by blockbot 2014-04-30T01:20:00

Hilarious AND challenging. The graphics are excellent and I love the presentation! Especially the limited color palette. Seems like a finished game. Nice work!

The Mole Hole by Sylvain Dubrofsky 2014-05-01T03:36:00

42 seconds for me... that's pretty bad, haha. Very challenging game, I like the concept! The simplicity of the graphics didn't really bother me since the gameplay was fast-paced.

Deep Down by Cheetoturkey 2014-05-02T23:41:00

The controls are confusing-- I couldn't get the character to move where I wanted it to, especially when it comes to jumping diagonally. I'm not sure what you're supposed to do in the game either. Maybe you should list that among the controls too.

DeepUnder by SuperMsp10 2014-05-01T01:13:00

Nice first game. The camera seems off to me too though, like the Unity web player is being cut off or something.

Thirst by TeamPurpleDolphins 2014-04-29T01:53:00

OH NO! I burned up... Great voice acting, interesting mechanic. And yeah, the intro is a little long.

The Moon Has Monsters! by KunoNoOni 2014-04-30T00:58:00

The controls work great and the prologue is funny. The epilogue is so slow, though! Easy game with hilarious writing.

Dig'em by ren 2014-04-30T01:05:00

Uhhh... I fell into some grey space, and my character could move off the screen at that point (level 3). I guess you know that, though! I like the green glob's sprite, and the general concept!

LD30 — Connected Worlds

One Ship Two Ship Redshift Blueshift by 01010111 2014-08-25T05:25:00

SO CRAZY GOOD. I love the trails on the space ships and all of the particles So much detail. It's a well-rounded game from start to finish. The music is so catchy and the sound effects are just perfect! Love love love the start screen. It's beautiful and modern.

Outer Body by vanZeben 2014-08-25T03:55:00

Fun little game with some unique gameplay. I like the simplicity in the controls and the pixel character's walk cycle. The music has that perfect "spooky" vibe. I think if there was one thing that could be improved, it's the interface. There's text going off the screen, aligned funny, etc. But overall I enjoyed it, got around 1800 points!

Coral by Vavassor 2014-08-27T01:26:00

I love the way the music matches the graphics. It reminds me of data-moshing too. REALLY crazy concept! Getting totally disorienting is sort of a fun release. Fun and strange.

Isra & Miraj: "A Night Journey" by grillaface 2014-08-27T01:41:00

Love the use of voice + visual collage. It's got a unique theme too. Excited to see what you come up with next.

Frog, Raccoon, Mosquito by clofresh 2014-08-25T04:28:00

LOL, what a crazy game. I love the concept, and the fact that the setting stays the same each time you transform. It makes the worlds seem very connected (aha!). Anyway, I'm not sure which one's hardest... probably the raccoon. The frog's controls are the most difficult but it's easy to catch mosquitos on accident. The mosquito's controls are crazy, lol, they glitch sometimes but in a fun way. Great work!

Gorilla Warfare by MegaMasterX 2014-08-26T01:46:00

That was... interesting. I couldn't make it more than 3 seconds in the game before I collided with a red wisp or the collision detection broke. So yeah, virtually unplayable. But I do really like the walk cycle and the jump animation!

From Earth To Mars by IHateATMFees 2014-08-25T04:41:00

I enjoyed your literal interpretation of the theme, haha. It made perfect sense-- simple and straightforward. I couldn't get past level 3. Guess I'm not cut out for interplanetary travel. The physics on the asteroids is a little strange but I'm impressed with how well it works. Oh, and the splash screen is beautiful! Altogether a really solid game.

Last Call For Magrathea by nintendoeats 2014-08-25T04:17:00

Well, it took me a little while to get the hang of it but in the end it was pretty fun. Somehow I ended with a population of -25, lol. My highest was 995. Those people use too many damn toothbrushes. I think you know the main weakness of the game is the placement of the menus, i.e. the "items needed" window being too far from the other windows. A static interface would probably have been easier to use. But I want you to know the sound effects and the "item needed" voiceovers are great! It makes it feel like you're really controlling the flow of the space toothbrushes. Thanks for submitting. I had fun!

Interplanetary Messengers by DragonMaster21 2014-08-25T05:00:00

I really liked the concept as well but... I found the controls really cumbersome. It's hard to get around! I never made it to the next planet. The stylization of the graphics and the chiptuney sound effects give the game a great mood, but the gameplay is just too tough. Nice music.

Oooover the double rainbow (Baldaquin IV) by Marcellus 2014-08-26T02:51:00

Took me a while but I finally figured it out! The concept is very interesting and a nice take on the 'connected worlds.' But it was tough to see how they were connected at first. The color palette could've been a little less harsh on the ol' eyeballs too. I got to the first key and died, which puts you all the way back at the start, so I'd say the game is pretty tedious. Also, the 'game over' screen is downright frightening, lol. Anyway, it was... unique. Enjoyed it.

interball by foolmoron 2014-08-25T05:02:00

Straightforward gameplay and beautiful design. The timer bar around the frame is my favorite part. Great work!

Galaxy Saviour by Samuel Arminana 2014-08-25T05:19:00

Awww yeah, #1 on the high scores... for a few minutes, anyway. OK so I liked the concept of the game, destroying asteroids and things to protect the planet. The ship was a little hard to control though, just because the environment is so large, I think. Another thing that made it difficult was the asteroids' dark brown color against the black background. I was squinting trying to see them. I love doing barrel rolls though, so fun! And the font you chose was perfect -- what is it? I'm impressed you got a high score list up and running within the time frame.

The Crossover Episode by Valon487 2014-08-26T02:56:00

Congrats on your first game. The ending was really unique haha. I won't give it away though.

Hard to see how this fits the theme without your description on the website. Also, I don't know if anyone else had this problem, but the text was very dark and tiny, making it hard for me to read. Of course the movement speed is way too slow but you probably already knew that. If you do another adventure game like this, I'd work on styling the text a little better. Overall I enjoyed it, thanks for submitting!

Reminisce by nikki93 2014-08-26T02:39:00

OS/X version worked great. Very nice game! I'm impressed with the engine-- seems to work very well. No glitches as far as I could tell. Graphics were meh but that's not really the point of the exercise, obviously. The gameplay was actually FUN! And I liked your take on the theme. The editor made no sense to me but that's okay. Thanks for submitting, it was interesting!

SHIT RUNNER by Cad 2014-08-27T01:48:00

The voiceovers are excellent. And those particle effects... whoah. Finally, a game whose theme I can truly identify with.

Peak by ofwindandsea 2014-08-27T01:20:00

Nice job, guys! I really like the mood of the game and the soothing color palette + music. Your game is HARD but it's truly fun once you get the hang of it. Your take on the theme was perfect! Looking forward to see what else you make.

Song of the Dodo by uvwar 2014-08-25T05:34:00

The weirdest game I've played by far. In a good way. The spawning of the pigs/goats is hilarious. Of course the concept is 100% unique too. Lots of games about outer space, several about ghosts... only 1 game about dodo birds. If there was a uniqueness award, you'd have won it. The game is really challenging too. Nice work!

Galaxy Bowling by suyoku 2014-08-26T02:18:00

First time using Unity AND first game jam?... No way. I'm seriously impressed. I like that the puzzle aspects of gameplay (e.g. limiting the number of shots you can take) are gone-- the frustration of restarting a level over and over isn't worth it. Sometimes it's fun to just shoot missiles all over the place. Anyway, the gameplay is a blast (ha ha ha) and the gravity system you've made is really nice. No bugs as far as I could tell. I couldn't get past the 6th level or so (the one that's in the thumbnail). Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks for submitting!!

Secret Place by MJamesShort 2014-08-26T01:52:00

You could probably make an industry out of this game. Love how vague and open it is to interpretation. I didn't have any problem reading the text (in Chrome) so I'm not sure what the other reviewers are talking about.

The word "exist" leads to a blank page though. If that's on purpose-- good job, I think it's poignant and serves its purpose. If it's not on purpose... oh well. It was a game jam. Enjoyed it, thanks for making it!

Heroes on Wings of Steel and Fire by mattperrin 2014-08-26T02:10:00

Interesting little game, I like the concept and how you expanded on the genre. Nice sound and minimalist graphics too. I have to admit the controls were confusing at first. I didn't realize the fire button was the "/" key. Something about the way "? - Fire Primary" looks is confusing. Anyway, the rest of it is pretty straightforward and fun. Nice work!

Tangled Chalkboard Planets by Fernando 2014-08-25T04:48:00

Wow, what a well-polished game! The gameplay is flawless and effortlessly fun. The style is great too-- reminds me a little of Yoshi's Island but with a spiffy chalkboard feel. This could be a really fun mobile game if you continue to work on it!

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Snoika Man 2014 by Larzan 2014-12-10T22:43:00

Pretty fun and the controls work really well. There's not a whole lot of variety but I did enjoy playing it (even though I wound up with negative points half the time). The sprites are cute too.

The Infestation by Tiago Ling Alexandre 2014-12-13T02:16:00

Such a bleak concept, but I really enjoyed it. Totally unique concept, never seen anything like it. The controls are straightforward and the difficulty seems really balanced. Super fun game! My score: 10100.

Collector by Galan 2014-12-10T22:18:00

The Mac version worked just fine for me! The sound effects are great. I love little sandbox games like this. And the FIRE LOOKS AMAZING!

Leaving by My Sweet Whomp 2014-12-11T14:54:00

Playing this game is about to make me late for work, but I just can't stop! The gameplay is fresh and interesting, and I LOVE the little guy's smashing hammer animation. The art is so well done and the ethereal color palette really adds to the mood. Agh! I love the whole thing!

Kill The Snowmen by elektricmaster7 2014-12-09T03:49:00

Score: 48000. I take it you didn't like the snowman ☃ theme? :P The game is fast but it feels balanced and fair. Getting an avalanche powerup is really satisfying!

Not Making It by Mattias Wargren 2014-12-13T01:37:00

Put a shirt on! Here's a list of things I liked: the simple style, the goofy music, the cactus, the completely un-intuitive controls, the particle effects and the Wilhelm scream. The gameplay would be repetitive if not for the quickly increasing difficulty (I made it to 13). Man, that guy has a really tall ceiling!

Galvatross by ShuddaHaddaLottaFun 2014-12-10T22:26:00

I like the menu animation & music a lot-- reminds me of going to the arcade back in the day! The controls are a little sticky and hard to get used to but I like how chaotic the game got over time. And I love the dog-bat-things. :D

2 Towers by peterentwistle 2014-12-09T02:11:00

Vaguely fun, it's pretty satisfying when you knock down a tower. I agree that the game seems pretty unbalanced because basically whoever shoots first wins. It's great that you learned and had fun with the challenge though! And the music is really nice-- kind of intense but also very simple and catchy.

Snowman Defense - Ludum Dare 31 by Baknik 2014-12-13T01:44:00

Nice graphics! The game is genuinely fun, too, until you run out of ammo. I couldn't figure out how to balance the number of snowballs shot vs. gained. But the game works well, with no flaws! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it post-compo.

Frosty Ninja by belva1234 2014-12-09T02:16:00

LOL, the audio is so funny and strange. Thank you for including the lyrics. I love the flip on the snowman to change directions too. Great gameplay, a little on the hard side (which IMO is a good thing). Definitely fun and strange in the best way possible.

Meaty Tears by Zwergesel 2014-12-09T02:41:00

OK, I got 4, now I give up. The game is definitely hard but it doesn't seem unfair. I really like that you respawn at the last button you pressed-- adds some interest to the gameplay. The wall jumping is floaty and hard to get used to but I like the character's quick movement speed because it makes the hundreds of character deaths seem less cumbersome, LOL. Great concept.

Tiny's Adventure in TV Land by Kate Kligman 2014-12-09T03:43:00

Took me like 4 minutes to figure out you could jump on the clouds. D'OH. Interesting little game, and though it's really easy, I've never seen anything like it. And I like that you tricked people into building a snowman... ☃!

Survival Camp: A Day-Night game by hoyt hoy 2014-12-12T22:34:00

Nice little game! Your health seems to decrease so fast if you don't get fire/food, and that made the game really hard. I couldn't make it further than a day or two. But I adore the concept, and it was actually fun to play!

Sad Little War-Bot by sorlok 2014-12-13T02:01:00

LOVE the mini cutscenes that advance the story. The aesthetic and audio are no less than bizarre. Charming, but totally bizarre. The gameplay, however, is fantastic! I love the variety of enemies and the utter chaos the game evolves into. Great game!

SnowMelt by JamesOfJames 2014-12-09T02:47:00

Score: 36. SO FUN! I love this clever take on a shooter/tower-defense type game. The speed of the game feels really nice, with more and more kids coming at you (these kids are BRUTAL, by the way). Sometimes the kids get stuck on corner tiles and they spin around in a beautiful little ice dance. Those ice blocks are hard to catch! But yeah, the game seems really nicely balanced. Great job!

TURN it UP by pkenney 2014-12-09T14:43:00

Great concept, never really seen anything like it. I got 8 green points! Overall I think your game has really great balance for a Ludum Dare game, something that's hard to do. It's very addictive.

DotKeeper by Fera 2014-12-09T22:35:00

Time: 4:29. Simple concept, very simple graphics. I had fun but I could definitely see this as more enjoyable with touch controls.

One SCREAM! for the game by t4u 2014-12-10T22:33:00

Having two weapons is an interesting ploy, and the gameplay is mildly fun, if not a little difficult. I couldn't manage to win. Reloading takes WAY too long IMO! The theme is sexist, and though I know it's parodying a trope, it's just not appealing to me at all.

Meeses by 4sap 2014-12-10T22:40:00

Fantastic game!! The use of the theme is really clever and reminds me of some of the little games you could play on those After Dark screensavers.... Anyway, it truly is one of the most fun LD games I've seen so far, with increasing difficulty and a variety of enemies that keep gameplay fresh. And the graphics are adorable!

Robot Karma Joe by Jupitron 2014-12-09T03:38:00

Yay, I won! I loved the sound the monster made at the end, like slowly letting the air out of a balloon... Nice audio and I love the intro-- both make it feel like you're playing an old-school arcade cabinet. In awe of all the excellent graphics you created in such a short amount of time. Really nice work.

Contact Cowboy by jrap 2014-12-09T03:29:00

Fabulous game! Such polish for a game created in 48 hours. I made my husband play 2P and he easily won because you just wait for 1P to pick up the bomb in the middle and shoot them. I think if you just try to kill each other and forget about the other objectives, it becomes really hilarious and a little more balanced too. LOVE the pixel art of the gun and knife on the home screen.

Super Resizer by foolmoron 2014-12-09T03:18:00

The concept is absolutely BONKERS in the best way possible. I was laughing my ass off trying to play this on Chrome for Mac, because level 3 makes the window go nuts and resize itself all over the screen (maybe because the scrolling text in the title bar?) Firefox worked beautifully on Mac, though. I got a high score of 15. Brilliant execution of the theme; I've never seen anything remotely like this game before. OH and I love the particles on the edge of the screen!

Treasure Quest by ruerob 2014-12-09T02:50:00

Got a blank screen here too, in Chrome/Firefox/Safari. That's a shame, because I love adventure games and the thumbnail has such nice art!

Spaceship Jumpy Survival Thingy... Ish? by Norgesnerd 2014-12-09T14:38:00

Intensely frustrating but also pretty fun. I like the simplicity of the controls a lot.

Fido, Fiona & Fidel by pjimmy 2014-12-09T02:23:00

To be honest, I clicked the thumbnail for your game because it looked so weird, like a piece of 1990s Microsoft Word clipart. But when I played it, I was like, holy crap, this is actually really fun. I love that the concept of 'all on one screen' goes two ways-- the actual game is on one screen, and the game you can't see is on the TV screen. Fabulous execution of the theme!

Avalanche by uvwar 2014-12-09T03:22:00

Weirdest game I've ever seen in my life. And yes, dying is more rewarding than (probably) reaching the goal, because the 3D sound warping is incredible. "Maximum enjoyment" indeed. Definitely do fullscreen if you can't see the whole picture.

Petite Juliet by kts_kettek 2014-12-09T03:09:00

I found a space on the bottom-center where I can stand and all of the enemies get stuck in the middle, so I can type this, haha. The gameplay confuses me a little bit but the controls do work nicely. Obviously the constantly-shifting fractal is incredible! It contributes so much toward the mood of the game, too. I have no idea how you did that but I really like it. OK, I made it to level 4, and I'm happy with that. Interesting little game.

SumoAttack by Blister 2014-12-13T14:37:00

Nice game! The controls work nicely (with WASD and arrow keys) and the objective is very clear. I particularly like the old CRT TV effect-- nice play on the theme. I enjoyed it!

LonelyPlanet by jstzwd 2014-12-09T02:54:00

WOW! Beautiful game. The mood is so perfect. The graphics are all so stylish, and the music is thoughtful and soothing. I like the idea of the gameplay a lot, but it was hard for me to time the jumps correctly, so I never got above a score of 4 or 5. And I like the name of the game too, though it reminds me of my favorite travel book series, Lonely Planet... Hmm, wonder why. Anyway, I adore this game. And it works fine in Chrome for me. What's the font you used for the non-logo text?

I've Seen This Room Before by gelisam 2014-12-09T03:02:00

Great execution of the theme. It's clever that the same level changes to become a new level. I liked the simplicity of the game a lot. I tested the Mac version and unfortunately I think the textures don't load? They're just primitive black and white shapes. Or is that on purpose? OK, clearly I didn't make it past level 5 either but I did enjoy the concept a lot.

I've Seen This Room Before by gelisam 2014-12-09T14:48:00

Just FYI gelisam, running it from Terminal worked for some reason. Thanks. Game was still fun without the graphics though. :D

Second Screen Exists by pavel_insight 2014-12-09T02:31:00

Nice mood but I'm afraid the puzzle is totally lost on me. I couldn't figure it out at all. I love your interpretation of the theme, though. Life in different dimensions is interesting. OH and I like your particles!

Valley of Trolls by johannesl 2014-12-13T02:22:00

Great game! At first I couldn't tell which color I was, but I figured it out eventually. I'm super impressed you managed to make a fun, well-balanced multiplayer game for the compo! Now, if only I could win... :)

Press the buttons ! by jlouisB 2014-12-13T02:34:00

I like the concept a lot, and the arrow controls work great. I found that it was pretty hard though, because the enemies sometimes block the buttons.

TONKS by Cosine 2014-12-10T14:36:00

A clever little game that's actually really beautiful too. The color and typeface choices are really stylish and could appeal to a wide audience. The web version was completely broken for me but the OSX version worked just fine. Obviously mouse mode is not optimal unless you have a way to hide the screen from the other player, but keyboard mode was really fun. If you continue to work on it, I would get rid of having to hit enter/return after a turn just to make gameplay more fast and amusing. Really nice game!

Beautiful Yoga Explosion by nosfer 2014-12-10T14:41:00

The destructible terrain was so cool! Excellent use of the theme, keeping everything on one screen but making the level alterable so it doesn't get boring. I found moving and aiming at the same time was really hard though.

Beautiful Yoga Explosion by nosfer 2014-12-10T22:19:00

I just wanted to let you know I left the game running on accident when I went to work and it looked like this when I got back. CRATES EVERYWHERE!: http://i.imgur.com/auuHL9L.png

Snowman Battles | Online Multiplayer Game by tatelax 2014-12-10T14:43:00

I wasn't able to enter text in the text fields for some reason, and of course no one was online, so I never actually got into the game. But I love the blocky art style in the screenshot!

SpaceGamma by leewalkergm 2014-12-10T14:47:00

Nice game, I had a little trouble figuring out whether I was moving or not until I noticed the speedometer at the bottom. Reminds me of last Ludum Dare's theme, "Connected Worlds." Anyway, the sound in the game is nice but ultimately I couldn't kill the space pirates in time so I never actually made it to J-2.

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Shark Lazer Hands by HeuGamer 2015-04-22T13:02:00

Fun gameplay and hilarious graphics. The gameplay wasn't especially innovative but the story certainly is... different. The music is nice too! My favorite part is the walk cycle-- simple but efficient, lol. Final score: 3371 (I'm not very good at this, haha.)

BED✰HOGG by 01010111 2015-04-20T03:34:00

Amazing all around! I especially love the music and the understated yet effective audio. Everything is so juicy and delicious, from clever attack animations to fluffy feathers flying all over the place. At first I thought the AI was taking it easy on me, but she quickly caught up and I almost lost, LOL.

JOHN CENA'S WRESTLEQUEST 2015 by Kortuga 2015-04-20T04:53:00

Uh, I think I'm missing something here... Anyway, the game is an absolute blast, mostly due to the unconventional sound effects and music. The buildup and movement of the character is really fun but gets frustrating after a while since I kept falling down and the camera was kind of making me dizzy. I couldn't find all the pictures; I got attacked in the forest...

Gapurin by Jan Marcano 2015-04-22T12:48:00

Cute game and really well executed! The physics are fun and seem to work nicely. The music is kind of scary but I really like it too. It's great to see a game made in Godot! The simple yet appealing graphics are great too.

Sentient RPS by dualtagh 2015-04-20T03:40:00

Woohoo, a fellow rock-paper-scissors game! The concept is really cool, having different attacks to damage different enemies. I like that you included an idle state for the hand! And the walk cycle is simple but effective. I ALMOST beat it too (I got stuck on a corner, haha). Nice work!

Unconventional Convention by Recursiveanomaly 2015-04-20T04:47:00

Very polished game! The game seemed really complex at first but the GUI is designed cleanly and efficiently so I could tell exactly what was going on right away. Of course the gameplay allows for strategy and complexity too, which is nice. I love the idle animations on all the characters. Great work!

BoozeHound by Havacore 2015-04-20T04:59:00

Aw man, that win screen kind of bummed me out. Was hoping to get a glimpse of the pirate downing that giant jug of booze. Anyway, the game is really fun! I like the different mechanics of the two weapons-- it keeps things interesting. The puzzles weren't very hard but you did a nice job clueing the player into how to solve them. Graphics are short and to the point-- love the blood splatters. Very fitting music too!

Numpad weapon by lightsoda 2015-04-22T12:53:00

Nice twist on the defense genre. Great music too! I was hoping you could type the numbers on a keyboard since clicking them gets a little tiresome after a minute. My final score: 9620

Unconventional Universal Remote by Mekuri 2015-04-21T13:12:00

The HTML link crashes immediately for me in Firefox. The Dropbox link just prompts you to download an HTML file, not the actual game. I think you need to make the folder public? I don't have Windows either, so I couldn't get the game working. :<

Adventures of BizMan by jontturi 2015-04-22T12:57:00

Love the concept and the gameplay is fun as well. I like the way the difficulty scales up-- by the end you're just clicking madly and shooting money everywhere, haha. If I could offer one suggestion it would be to make the background less busy so the sprites are easier to see. My final score: 19900

drone-a-pult by ChrisGaudino 2015-04-20T04:24:00

At first glance, wow wow wow! I love that intro transition with the falling blocks. And the rotating menu screens-- clever and beautiful. And the transitional fades... I love it. As for the actual game, I couldn't really get the hang of it. The flip happens so fast that I could never release the blocks at the right time. Also, how do you move up and down?

BlueBlaze by JamesOfJames 2015-04-20T04:02:00

The game wouldn't load on Chrome or Firefox but I got it working in Safari. Interesting concept, I had fun making blue trails and trying to cut the other arrows off. Until the game called me a loser! Haha, yes, I'm bitter about losing. The controls are pretty hard though, as they feel very "slippery."

Weapon Regulator by drludos 2015-04-20T03:54:00

Well, you've definitely got a fun game here, and addictive too! The difficulty ramps up at a good speed, enough to keep things interesting. Nice job on providing different keyboard options (you pointed out mine wasn't AZERTY-friendly, something I wasn't aware of, so thank you!). Controls are smooth and fast. Nice job! My final score: 430

Drums of the Dead by plams 2015-04-21T13:29:00

Wow, this is a COMPO game?! Works great on OSX, by the way. Love the cheeky "Exit to DOS" giving it that extra retro oomph. Anyway, the graphics are really splendid and the gameplay/controls are clear to me right away. The notes are pretty unforgiving though! One day, I'll get the hang of this... If I could offer one suggestion, it's to give a little bit of time before the song starts to lead the player into the beat. Great game!

keyTD by foolmoron 2015-04-20T05:10:00

The gameplay is surprisingly addictive! I'm on wave 11 right now and my fingers are kind of tired, haha. But it's more than just button-mashing fun: laying out your towers requires some strategic skills. The sound effects are really nice and I love the minimalistic style. I've never played anything like it! Great work.

Coin Master by Vija02 2015-04-22T13:14:00

Sweet game with cute graphics and gameplay that ramps up in difficulty. There are lots of little details to love in this game, like the little coin-spray animation when enemies die. The goal of the game wasn't immediately clear to me but when the giant red coins started attacking me I understood. GAH! If I could give you a suggestion, it would be to add a score to the game (like time elapsed = score) so that the player has a reason to replay the game. Nice work! (Played on OSX)

Hippie Run by winmac32 2015-04-20T04:35:00

LOL, I've definitely never seen a game like this before. The most unconventional part is the sound-- so weird. The music is great too. The gameplay is fun and has a nice speed to it.

Ludum Dare #-6192 by pi_pi3 2015-04-21T13:23:00

Tried opening the .jar on OS X but it seems to crash at launch or never open, could be my fault though.

Cupid's arrows by OadT 2015-04-22T13:06:00

I like the way you explain the gameplay in the game-- I feel like that's something a lot of people leave out. The gameplay is immediately clear since you did that. It's quite fun too! The splash screen and game over screen are really stylish and you game has a really nice color palette.

Fish Fencing by Schwiggy 2015-04-20T03:45:00

I am SO BAD at this game!! That's a testament to how well the AI is programmed, haha. I think the controls work equally well with a keyboard or a controller. Simple yet elegant graphics make the game fun and appealing along with an AWESOME use of the theme. PS: those fish look SWEET!

Stoned Scarecrow by gillenew 2015-04-20T04:09:00

The pixel art is absolutely DELICIOUS. All those little explosion sprites... *drool* The interface is very clear and well designed and the controls are pretty good too, except-- is shooting supposed to be really unresponsive at the beginning? It was taking too long to get upgrades so I quit playing to admire the art, haha. Oh, and full points for theme too. A scarecrow on a floating log? Yeeeah, okay!

Dino Warriors by ito123456789 2015-04-20T04:15:00

Aw man, I lost. I like the artwork, though. The numbers given when you fight an enemy confused me-- do you want higher numbers or lower numbers? I got an error when clicking the 'retry' button too. But as a concept I like it a whole lot! Kind of like an RPG with a rock-paper-scissors twist.

Killing Time by huminaboz 2015-04-20T04:31:00

"Bored to death." What a great way to die! Hilarious concept and great use of the theme. The graphics are simple yet effective and the gameplay is fun. The hardest part is remembering the keys and which weapon defeats which enemy.

The Right Tool For The Job by 2Bit 2015-04-21T13:20:00

LOL, the snarky announcer is so well played. OK, so the objectives were not obvious to me so I'm glad you included them in the instructions. I really like the subtle shader you have on the environment. I figured out the first puzzle but none beyond that so I'm glad you included the answers too, haha. Also, the game works much better in fullscreen, otherwise the mouselook is hard to manipulate.

Suburban Violence by brennen 2015-04-21T13:25:00

Great idea, love the concept and the varied weapons. The constant running back and forth across the screen is hard to manipulate but it adds some interesting strategy to gameplay. Now I just need someone to play with!

rainboWarrior by Sanka-X 2015-04-21T14:16:00

I had trouble getting the game to work; it seemed like when the rainbow collided with the chicken the game threw a bunch of errors. (This was in the web version.) By the way, I think you need to link to the HTML file in your Dropbox so the user doesn't have to download a zip. Nevertheless, the graphics are really cheeky and adorable, and I love making the rainbows! Great concept.

Hug Cult by EwChap 2015-04-20T04:43:00

The sound is HILARIOUS and truly unconventional. There's so much hugging and loving going on! The controls are simple and effective and the level design works. Fun little concept, I hope you keep working on it!

Tile Invaders by j_peeba 2015-04-21T13:46:00

Very cool gameplay! I like that you built on the original Tetris game by adding in the extra defense/shooting mechanic. It's surprisingly fun and addictive! The music is excellent too. My final score: 280

Also, just wanted to let you know the HTML5 game did not work for me in Chrome in OSX; it gave me a ton of errors. But it works just fine in Firefox.

Love Bomber - The Cult Simulator by Suese 2015-04-20T04:39:00

Wow, this is definitely the most polished game I've seen so far. Adorable music and graphics-- I love the overall design! There are so many little details in the trees and sidewalks and everything. The concept of course is very nice too, and I really appreciate the simple, foolproof controls.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Unsolicited by dukope 2015-08-30T13:58:00

Solid game, all around! I always enjoy seeing what you come up with. I also made a game where you play a spammer, but yours is much more fun. :) The game is flawless except for sometimes the box of names is too big for the game window, but it's not too big a deal. All the text is so well written, which contributes a lot to the 'subtly dystopian' feel your games have. I guess the only thing I would expand on is more user feedback-- I was never sure of how well I was doing until I got to the 'end.' Anyway, I loved it! Great game!

Welcome to Cronenburg by Galan 2015-08-26T00:46:00

Works fine on Mac, though I had to go in the app files and open the command line thingy to launch it. Love the concept, and the environment is beautiful! So many fun animations to be had--love the bunny's walk cycle. The physics are good (though sometimes they make you laugh) and I love the simplicity of the controls. Nice work!! My score was 1738.

Escape From Twump Tower by 01010111 2015-08-25T22:11:00

Awesome game! The level design is carefully thought-out, and so much fun! Also, Twump is unexpectedly adorable. The music and sound is reminding me of Super Mario Land 2 right now. Great game, unique and beautiful!

Mega-Normous-All-Devouring-Beast-o-Saurus-Super-Evil-Angry-Hairy-Scary-Thing (Rampage Lord of the Darketty Dark) by garygreen 2015-08-24T23:45:00

Love the dark humor-- it feels nicely balanced between total destruction and silly coffee breaks. I played it a few times to see the different endings. The music is perfect. Nice work!

Ludzilla by highlyinteractive 2015-08-25T22:42:00

It's surprisingly satisfying to knock the buildings down, haha. The controls were confusing to me at first but I knocked down 60 buildings! The shaders were really cool, and the model of the monster too. The texture is a really nice touch.

Mow Town by Dell 2015-08-24T19:27:00

LOL, this game is so strange. The flying machine is super hard to control (which I guess is the point), and I could never figure out the mechanics of it. Highest score I got was 50. Really wish there was some wacky music, but the graphics really do look nice. The title is AWESOME.

Hydra by JoeProgram 2015-08-25T22:37:00

Wooooow I love this game! Never played anything like it. The difficulty ramps up really nicely into total chaos, haha. I got 94 points on my first try, but I think I could do better if I grouped the heads into a big clump and put them toward the base. Awesome music too, very strong all-around game.

Hunting by oab 2015-08-24T19:23:00

Cute little game, pretty short but the unique style makes it worth your time. I read the dialogue in a funny voice because of the way it was typed. I hope you continue to work on it!

Monsters Eating by Vantaug 2015-08-25T23:10:00

Nom. Nom. Nom. Nom. Such a good game (other than there being no end in sight). The animation of the skull-creature was the best part, but you have to buy the unit and then click back to the game screen to see it. The animations are the most clever part, but I especially like the music. Great work.

Clickacabra by foolmoron 2015-08-24T20:21:00

I adore this game, and the abstract representations of the units. What makes this game fun after playing it for some time is the balance between clicker game --> idle game. I'm leaving it open in a window for a while, need more puppies!

Hello Dear Friend by ruthiepee 2015-08-25T11:50:00

@JackDegree: oof, that's my mistake-- forgot a zero. Thanks for pointing it out.

@omaha: No, there's no ending.

@razavidn: Great suggestions. If I expand upon the game, I'd introduce floors of the office building, then buildings, then office parks, and so on for upgrading your $$$ exponentially.

Everyone else: BACK TO WORK!

Angry Bull by Maxxim 2015-08-25T22:22:00

Cool game, I like the concept a lot. I feel like it could be more fun if the bull were faster at first, but I like the upgrade system you implemented. Great sound effects.

Humane Harvest by StrideWide 2015-08-24T19:35:00

The title screen is SUPER ANNOYING, hahahaha. In fact, all the audio is really annoying, in a good way. I'm going to try and play all the way to the end, but I might have to put it on mute. As far as a clicker/idle game, the incremental upgrades feel nicely balanced (which I know is hard to do, I made a clicker game too). I love how the arms branch, and all the little animations. Okay, I just got to the end (took about 5 minutes) and there's no win screen, so I'm kinda bummed out! But I had fun, so great job. :)

Trump Presents America® by uvwar 2015-08-24T20:13:00

I'm voting for Trump just so this might happen in real life. Excellent conceptual game. I loved being hair.

Bad Libs by rampantinsanity 2015-08-25T22:56:00

Wondering how the scoring works-- I got 100 each time I played. Great concept, not sure what it has to do with the theme but I'd love to see it get developed further! Controls were easy and the game worked well.

Pro Gardener - Monster Edition by JoshyOshKenoshi 2015-08-25T23:01:00

Nice pixel art and game layout-- very appealing. The audio is hilarious but gets sort of annoying after a while, haha. This game was pretty hard with a laptop touchpad. Cute flowers. :)

Dragon Quest by Digized 2015-08-24T19:11:00

Well, that was pretty short and sweet, haha. I love the concept, you nailed the theme. The controls are a little crazy, though-- I pretty much just flew over the whole level because the dragon could jump so high.

Daylight Blobbery by Mark Smith 2015-08-25T22:50:00

That was super fun, haha. I love the mix of 2D and 3D, realistic effects and super crunchy pixel art. The sound adds to the grossness a lot. The camera felt confusing but the controls made sense, and the length of the game was nice. I love the graffiti-like text, which I assume is hand-drawn? Between that and the pizza, it reminds me of so many 90s arcade games. Awesome work.

Cheats at Marathons by Not Breathing by tc4mpbell 2015-08-24T20:23:00

I love the title screen! It's fun, funny, and the gameplay is totally unique. Great job!

Eurthamon by ursagames 2015-08-25T22:30:00

Great game all-around! I love the mood of the music, and the beautiful simplicity of the scenery. The gameplay and cutscenes keep you interested through the end, and the difficulty scales nicely. Great job. :)

Treasure Keeper by jelch 2015-08-24T19:09:00

Pretty fun in concept, IMO the game moves a little slow though. I really like the monster sprite and the minimalistic music.

Greetings, Human by boardtobits 2015-08-24T19:17:00

Wooooow what a great all-around game! The graphics are very stylish and well organized, the concept is completely solid and the gameplay is unique and fun. The music has the right mood despite being a really short loop, haha. I'm impressed with the scope of the game-- different difficulty levels, tons of different names and greetings... EXCELLENT game!

Collateral by mklee 2015-08-24T19:05:00

Surprisingly fun twist on the classic snake type game. Once there gets to be a lot of blood splatter and explosions, things really get chaotic. My favorite thing about this game was that it had so much juice-- little animations, screenshakes, and a zillion sprites on screen all at once. The game felt really balanced too. Nice job! My score: 83

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Timebomb by Galan 2015-12-15T22:48:00

Works perfectly on OSX, and I love the cool, minimalist aesthetic. It's a perfect little microgame for wasting time. The addition of a 'high score' at the end kept me playing it over over (though I'm pretty bad at it). Mine was 12.31 seconds. Great game!

UPSQUID by 01010111 2015-12-15T22:42:00

Aaah, I am so excited for this game! Hmm, I got 44 points, let me try again... (30 minutes later) Okay, I am still really bad at this, but I absolutely adore it. You always do a great job of setting a mood, between the ethereal music, the cool trails & particles, and the website it's framed on. You definitely need to get this thing on the App Store / Google Play. I think one other commenter gave a good suggestion of changing the energy-up sound because it does have a 'hurt' sound to it, but once you get past that initial 'oh this doesn't kill me' moment it's fine. A++++ would play again.

Sharp Things by barret907k 2015-12-16T03:45:00

Pretty clever concept, I played through a few levels and the puzzles are pretty challenging after a while. Not sure how it fit the theme but I enjoyed it.

Sharp Things by barret907k 2015-12-16T03:47:00

Pretty clever concept, I played through a few levels and the puzzles are pretty challenging after a while. Not sure how it fit the theme but I enjoyed it.

OH I also wanted to let you know that your web link timed out for me and I couldn't access it.

Beardgrow by esayitch 2015-12-16T13:06:00

LOL that ending. This game was flawless! I did find it really challenging because of the two-button controls but that is what made it fun. All of the cutscenes and menu/text animations are what made it seem so polished. Thanks for letting the player speed up the text, I think that's a really good call. Great art, great sound, great game!

Mystic Sapling by atrodo 2015-12-16T03:58:00

The controls work fine and the game plays at a fine speed for me but unfortunately I just don't understand what's happening? I like the story and I like the presentation but without a UI or sound I can't really tell if what I'm doing is helping or hurting the tree?

Semi-Industrial Witchcraft by f7f5 2015-12-15T22:00:00

Once I understood the gist of the game, it was pretty fun. I like how chaotic it was. I think your game would benefit from a splash screen of sorts-- for me, it starts on a black screen and I have to hit space to start. Oh, and the score doesn't reset when you restart the game. The music is perfect, BTW! Nice game.

Dungeon Dog by uncade 2015-12-15T22:36:00

I LOVE THIS GAME! Go dog, go! That poop model is perfect. I hope you keep working on it because the concept is awesome. The music is awesome too and weirdly appropriate. The titles are really cool as well. I agree that it would be fun if the dog got faster as it got longer, or if the walls hurt you, etc., just to break it up a little bit. But the controls and everything else are perfect. Great job!

Bean Rider by dusho 2015-12-15T22:10:00

It's adorable! I especially love the way the vine and leaves grow. The simple backgrounds fit nicely too. The enemies make the game just hard enough though I think it would be cool if it increased speed over time. A+ on theme since you did both!

Eda by alpha_rats 2015-12-19T02:39:00

Great mood. I adore the music and the cool teal hues-- you definitely nailed a somber-yet-happy tone. I couldn't make a bonsai as pretty as your thumbnails but I had fun trying. Nice play on the theme, and I love the title.

Hey, My Name is Joe! by Pixelaborate 2015-12-15T21:53:00

This game looks suuuper intriguing but unfortunately I can't get the Mac version to work. For some reason it says it can't be run because it's a PowerPC application (which is probably not true but that's what the error says). I'll see if I can play it again later on my Windows machine but just thought I'd let you know.

The Drunken Executioner by karlipoppins 2015-12-15T22:18:00

Wow, this is awesome for a compo-- a fleshed out story and fun gameplay, along with nicely drawn graphics! I love all the details. I will say the text on some screens gets really hairy especially against your clean pixel details. Full points for humor, and I like the simple but fun music. Overall super fun!

Notwell by Squidcor 2015-12-16T04:17:00

What is the shoot button?... It's worth mentioning the controls here somewhere. Overall I like the graphics and the mechanics, and the interesting addition of growing larger.

Carp'e Diem! by Archonthewizard 2015-12-19T03:14:00

Relaxing yet extremely stressful! I can say with confidence that this is the longest I've played a Ludum Dare game. To be honest I almost gave up when the boss started spewing pufferfish-- those things are hard if you didn't get the speed upgrade. Overall this feels more like a finished console game than a jam game. I am ultra impressed with the gameplay-- the flocking, the variation of enemies... OMG what a good game.

Robotic Evolution by Dialglex 2015-12-15T22:05:00

Hey I just wanted to leave a message that I couldn't get it working either. Also your links to Windows/OSX/Linux versions all go to the same page which is confusing. If you can package a standalone version that people can download, I think that might help. The thumbnail looks really interesting so I hope you can get some plays on it!

Battle For Bedroom by monetai 2015-12-16T04:05:00

I clicked this game because of the thumbnail. I LOVE the notebook-style graphics and the color palettes for each character. My only complaint is that the Player 1 controls are really awkward on a QWERTY keyboard, so if you continue to work on it, just keep that in mind. :) Love the concept of the bedroom battle, and of course you get an A+ for theme-- most people are using 2 buttons as a gameplay mechanic but yours is the first 'conceptual' use of the theme I've seen yet. Web version worked fine BTW. Great job. :)

Starfleet by ddoomus 2015-12-16T03:52:00

Just wanted to let you know the OSX version works fine. However the controls are confusing, perhaps some sort of texture on the ground would let the player know which direction they're going. At some point all the asteroids went out of my field of view so I was just aimlessly wandering around.

The Tree by razveck 2015-12-16T04:23:00

Just want to add that the OSX version would not open.

Yanush Twofingers by Lizandros 2015-12-15T22:03:00

The controls are odd. Also, I think you need to resize the frame for the embedded Unity player version here? It's cutting off the text that explains that B button = D, lol. I love multiplayer games though, you don't see a lot of them.

Greatest physics-based game that doesn't use real physics by KunoNoOni 2015-12-16T03:36:00

OSX version wouldn't open at all, just FYI, but the WebGL one was fine. My best was about 12.5. A fun little game, quick and to the point. Pretty impressive for 8 hours but yeah, it's short. The sound is kind of minimalist and funny too.

R.I.D.B. (Robotic IceCream Delivery Bot) by RIDBers 2015-12-16T13:00:00

Fun game! I like how the difficulty ramps up after a while. The character's slow movement and slow shooting frustrated me a little bit but the graphics are so cute. Great music. Web version worked fine for me.

SHOOT'N GROW by guru-guru 2015-12-15T21:48:00

I am winner! This was truly the most bullet-hellish bullet-hell game I've ever seen. By the time I got to level 90, pretty much the entire screen was white with my bullets. With that said, the game could probably be a little harder, or at least have different difficulty levels for more experienced gamers. This would make an awesome MMO game! I like the UI, and I especially like the added twist of upgrades being available for only a few seconds. Chaotic and simply fun!

Famous Bus Movie Game by BuffaloPhil 2015-12-15T21:35:00

LOL at the ending. I adore the style of this game, it's deliciously retro if not totally eye-burning. Honestly the music really startled me when it first came on but I like the grittiness of it too. Controls work great. Played it in Firefox.

FETA FELES by The Tophat Demon 2015-12-15T22:23:00

I won! I think. I don't understand the plot but the gameplay is definitely fun. The chaser enemies are surprisingly scary despite being super simple-looking. I like that you limited yourself to a specific color palette and music scheme. I could definitely imagine playing this in an arcade. Nice work!

LD35 — Shapeshift

The Shinobi Trial by Foxtacy 2016-04-19T01:54:00

I dodged 4 oni and destroyed 6 blocks! Fun little game, I really enjoyed the music and the nice parallax scrolling. My only problem was I kept forgetting which color destroyed which color.

Flutterby by BrianSChung 2016-04-20T23:35:00

I love everything about this game! Cool visuals with constant movement make you really feel like you're inside a world. I like abstract gameplay that doesn't tell you explicitly what to do a la Hohokum or Flower. Totally original concept, I love it!

Map Shifter by woodenrabbit 2016-04-21T17:50:00

That thumbnail gif is awesome. :D Such a satisfying game, popping the bubbles and watching them regenerate. I found it pretty difficult at first but I eventually wound up with a score of 152 enemies killed and 3750 bubbles popped. I love the color palette you chose, it's subdued but feels very poppy and vibrant at the same time. The sound is simple and serves its purpose well, and the music is cute and bubbly too. Fun game!

Slime Tech by foolmoron 2016-04-20T12:58:00

SCIENCE!! I love the rainbow particles so much it cannot be explained in words. The particles are so fun to interact with -- I think you achieved a lot in that regard. Nice variety in level design too. Great job!

Audioplasmic by uvwar 2016-04-19T02:43:00

Good colors, good tunes.

Wall Buster by Interface 2016-04-20T02:20:00

Okay, it took me two tries to figure out the gameplay and the controls but once I did, I really enjoyed it. Placing the bricks in the holes is really satisfying for some reason. Interesting take on a Tetris-like game!

PixelShifter by Tony-C 2016-04-20T22:47:00

Really cool game mechanic, I loved breaking up the man into pixels and sliding down slopes to my death, lol. There are some funny bugs like standing above the trees or pixels flying off the edge, and I had a good laugh at the end ("Good night!") Overall, strong concept and fun gameplay.

shape_Shifter by RadMcCool 2016-04-19T01:51:00

Hey, that was pretty fun! I like the two-handed controls, and the way the # slides into the other # as a visual indicator of time. I think the speed could ramp up to make it more challenging, I played 20 matches before I called it quits. Nice use of the theme.

Drip Motion by masterkrepta 2016-04-20T22:53:00

I won! That was pretty short. I like the concept a lot and the controls worked great. The texture on the goo is nice too.

YCWG - You Can't Win the Game by BigBrother 2016-04-19T01:45:00

The menu music is awesome! Very chipper and funky. Simple controls are intuitive and fun. Though does gameplay go on forever?

Parallel Shift by firedragon2225 2016-04-20T01:26:00

Fun game! I enjoyed figuring out the puzzles. You did an awesome job for your first Ludum Dare. :D The controls felt nice and the background parallax was really cool. My only complaint is the flashing foreground, haha, but I think you knew that already.

Blink by samlo 2016-04-20T13:08:00

This game turned out to be amazing! I love the snappiness of the character movement and the fast speed of gameplay. The music is awesome too. I'm laughing at all the people that say this is 'minimalistic' because when I make the character blink, I see TONS of juicy particles and flashes and screenshake and chromatic aberration. There is so much below the surface, ha! Awesome game, super polished.

LD38 — A Small World

For The Love Of Money by KunoNoOni 2017-05-03T22:57:05Z

Pretty fun, pretty straightforward platformer. I didn't think it was as hard as you made it sound. :P It has a very retro feel, like an old Commodore game or something, because of the fixed camera and the chunky graphics. I'd like to see what it feels like with movement speed a little faster. Funny concept, even though I don't understand why all these moneybags are laying around in such a dangerous cave, lol.

Your Planet: Too Big by Scriptorum 2017-05-01T23:00:31Z

Wow, I'm terrible at this game! Don't worry, I still love it. :D The dialogue along was funny enough to make me want to keep playing. I got the hang of it right away and got a liiiittle better over time like when I realized you can click on the tiles when they're moving. Reminds me of the old days when puzzle games were actually challenging! The concept of the puzzle itself is really unique and the textures make it all the more charming. Unique application of the theme too, making a world smaller, haha. Nice job.

Step-Squish by NumNumDude 2017-05-02T01:16:31Z

Cute, simple game. It could benefit from some enemies that are a little less predictable; if you stand about 3/4 of the way to the right, you'll basically never be hit. I like the variety of the feet sprites, haha.

Little Lands by Mr_Field 2017-05-03T18:43:29Z

Had to take a break from work to play this game, I saw the thumbnail on a Tumblr post and need to play it IMMEDIATELY. I love city building games and this is an outstanding take on the genre, especially for a jam. Honestly it's worth playing it just for the adorable ending and the awesome music at the end, haha. It's really cool how the world morphs and shifts shape after pirates attack it. I thought the interface was really intuitive too. One of the best games I've played so far. :)

The Shrinkifier by pfeyffer 2017-05-02T01:03:30Z

Pretty unique concept, like a half-puzzle, half-gambling game. Took me a minute to figure out exactly what was going on but I eventually got 600 points, lol. I thought the abilities might refresh after each round so I blew those early and the rest didn't go so hot. The interface is nicely drawn but a tad confusing. Still, I had fun playing it!

Inter-Tidal Snail Breeder Deluxe by uvwar 2017-05-02T02:08:37Z

Beautiful game with intriguing breeding variations all wrapped up in so-slow-it's-actually-intense controls. I also like the really wide, fixed camera, because it definitely makes you feel like an outsider rather than a snail (even though you control them). The level of polish is really nice and my favorite part is probably how the particles indicate which way the water is moving. Once you figure out how to ride the waves it's fairly straightforward to eat up the seaweed but the snails' short lifespans makes it a challenge. Nicely done

The Tipping Point by foolmoron 2017-05-16T22:54:04Z

Love the simulated social interactions of the game and the crazy cool interface. It's actually a very challenging game too. Turns out I am equally as bad at making friends in this game as I am in real life. My favorite part is the humor and the uniqueness of the randomized names.

EVO by shide 2017-05-17T22:40:49Z

Amazing presentation, I really adore this game. It seems really full-featured as is but obviously it would be super cool if you kept working on it. I didn't realize you could scroll to zoom in until late game but I just wanna say I love the bouncy select animation. There's a surprising amount of detail in the animals I would have missed too. The interface and the tutorial are the most well designed parts of it all (something many LD games overlook) and the music is lovely as well.

Fixville by vladik-plays 2017-05-02T02:03:21Z

Very ambitious for a 48 hour game. The opening cutscene was really marvelous, you really get a sense of these tiny fixers and their small world. The slow move speed in the big world is pretty frustrating though, that would be the one change I would make. I thought for a game jam the scope was pretty good and I don't mind the simple puzzle ending. I hope you had fun and/or learned something new and I hope you hang on to this game idea and elaborate on it some day!

Get Off My World by Swarrly 2017-05-02T01:38:23Z

I saved the world! OK so the controls are a little slow and it could use a restart button, but I eventually won after losing twice. (By the way, you can opt out of being scored on audio if you don't want to be rated on it.) The concept, essentially interstellar sumo wrestling, is really charming and funny.

COSMOMOMOMOº by NueboMundo 2017-05-03T23:21:13Z

Very original, I think that's why I was initially confused on what the goal was, haha. Figured it out pretty quickly after reading your text but I think something about the textures obfuscated the perspective for me. The controls feel very nice and it's fun watching the projectiles circle around the planet. Awesome music.

Naughty Gnomes by gurkenlabs 2017-05-03T23:42:17Z

Amazing pixel art! The animations, the typography, and all the visuals are very nicely designed. I don't know if it was my computer (i7/Windows 10) or if it was intentional, but the game seemed to run really slowly to me. I like the puzzle/shooter aspect to it, and how you have to wait for the gnome to be in the 'window' to shoot them.

Small World Inc. by aJoemag 2017-05-02T01:48:05Z

I can't for the life of me figure out how to build the elevator higher. :'( Sorry! I was a big fan of SimTower back in the day so this is bringing me back big time. The drag-and-drop interface is easy to use and all the tooltips make sense. The game is intuitive if you've played a tower game before and understand how to balance the different types of rooms, but yeah, I wanna play this more if you'll please let me know how to build up the floors...

Just FYI, the web build gets stuck after it downloads all the data for me (Windows / Firefox) but after a few minutes it eventually loaded. Windows build worked great instantly though.

Miskro by ghodan 2017-05-01T22:47:17Z

I'm most impressed with the scope of the game. It has adventure, story, and fun puzzles in way that is very polished. I love the soft, bright color palette and the light-hearted mood it gives off. It's almost as fun watching people stream it as it is playing the game itself, haha. Really lovely game.

Chuck and Bull by CheesyMoo 2017-05-03T23:07:56Z

I think you know there's not much to do in this game, but the level of polish is nice. I guess it reflects the simplicity of farm life, haha. The "hot wife" and her comment are really weird though. I really like the cleanness of the pixel art and the good music.

Way Too Small by unniteq 2017-05-17T22:50:30Z

LMAO, THE ENDING! I actually laughed out loud. Funniest game I've played so far. Even funnier is the people who don't get the joke. At first I was like, "this game is hideous," but the blocky graphics make it all the more funny. Sound is a bit noxious but again it fits the style of the game. One more thing, make sure you've uploaded your source code, the link didn't work for me. Nice game, truly enjoyed it!

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Pennies Are Gold by commanderstitch 2017-12-10T05:34:01Z

Interesting game. The premise makes sense for the theme but the walking White House is really bizarre, lol. I played for a little while until it crashed (I'm not sure why) but here's my high score!

2017-12-10 00_32_43-Pennies Are Gold.png

Bit Swapper by Galan 2017-12-10T05:39:01Z

Love this concept and especially appreciate that you did a 2-player co-op game. You don't see a lot of those. It's pretty stylish too and all the objects contrast nicely.

unrogue by dunin 2017-12-10T05:19:38Z

Really nice Pico-8 game, even though I'm extremely bad at it... Best I could do was about 110? It took me a few tries to understand all the stats but the strategy really opened up and I can see how smart this game really is. I like the simple sound design too. Great game!

All Day I Dream About Eyeballs by uvwar 2017-12-07T18:07:37Z

It's definitely a game, that's what it is, yup. Y'all know it's pretty easy if you just look at the bottom screen, but it's fun to try not to. The flattish shading and colors are really attractive and the barn is super cute. Sound effects A+

LDAX: Ludum Dare Asset Exchange by foolmoron 2017-12-07T18:05:47Z

What is going on in these comments? Anyway, cool game. I don't think I'm smart enough to figure out a strategy behind making Number Go Up faster, other than "buy buy buy, sell sell sell." Nice UI and the dynamically updating graphs are really cool. I've never seen anything like this done for LD before.

Chick Magnet by one-seed-fruit 2017-12-08T16:09:48Z

Interesting concept, though your instructions made it sound overly complicated. The extent of the tutorialization in the game is just "bring eggs, put in here" which is perfect IMO. Everything else can be figured out through practice. With that said, I got 4 eggs to the magic lamp (why a magic lamp? lol) before I got pinned in a corner by a massive swarm of chicks. Kind of tedious but I enjoyed the unique concept.

Triage Towers by juxipolo 2017-12-10T05:07:28Z

Best tutorialization of any game I've played this jam. So far I've made -$100,000, lol. This game looks and feels a lot like SimTower but I'm having a hard time gauging how many people are in my hospital vs. what I should build. And the constant murmuring sound is downright bizarre. But yeah, this game has tons of depth and replayablility which is amazing.

Exploding Golf, with Lovable Piggies by OldPeculier 2017-12-10T05:46:18Z

Oh my God, thank you so much for making a game that's beautiful, simple, and fun. There are so many games this LD that are so freakin' complicated it's taking me like 15 minutes just to learn the controls. But this... this is a thing of beauty. The rules and the controls are instantly intuitive and the difficulty scales perfectly. All I can say is thank you.

GLORIOUS INTERNET POINTS by Ale 2017-12-08T17:42:36Z

Zooming out to hospital/meds is really cool UI. All the copywriting is absolutely hilarious too ("It's their fault they didn't read the privacy policy"). Somehow I managed to accrue negative followers and negative money so I started over and played through the way it's meant to be. I'm at 565,000 followers right now and I've unlocked everything. Who knew building the Linux kernel could be so dangerous?

PS: HTML5 version doesn't work in Safari because Safari is greedy and wants .mp3 files (I had this same issue)

RE-SANTA by Thygrrr 2017-12-10T01:25:35Z

Super cute! I love the knitted Christmas sweater look. I'm definitely gonna take a closer look at it. ;) The gameplay is a bit rote but I can see where the player could come up with different strategies to reach the goal. I think my favorite part is all the flavor text.

The Invasion of Terra by MCjammydodger 2017-12-08T16:33:46Z

Wow, I'm terrible at this game! I got murdered by spiders like 5 times before I realized I could just jump over them. Maybe a reminder of controls (or writing them on the LD/itch pages) would be helpful. I like the premise a lot, and managing your inventory to change your speed is an effective game mechanic.

Just Fishing by ruthiepee 2017-12-06T19:31:26Z

Hi @ohmi, thanks for your comment. It could be that your browser doesn't have Flash player enabled. I just added an HTML5 version too if you want to try that out!

Just Fishing by ruthiepee 2017-12-10T17:46:38Z

@ohmi Thanks for the suggestions. Adding some fish flopping would be pretty easy.

@badly-drawn-rod Great suggestions. I love the idea of changing the time of day along with which fish are available. Could be a fun mobile game if I added multiplayer features like you mentioned.

To @ted and @zinkler and everyone who critiqued me on the theme -- y'all have good points. The main game mechanic is that the more fish you catch, the longer you have to wait between catches. Essentially, it's a game about overfishing. It's a pretty buried motif and I now understand it didn't exactly come through (or make for a very fun game mechanic, lol). Thank you all for your helpful commentary.

The Star War 2: The quest for more money by eerongal 2017-12-10T05:57:49Z

This is the only compo game I've played where I had to stop and take a break from the game so I could catch my breath. I was laughing so hard the entire game. What a bizarre game. Duck Tales--I mean, Star War-- is a riveting adventure from beginning to end. Somehow it managed to have depth as a narrative while being absolutely stupid at the same time. Loved it.

Pizza'Matic 5000 by ghodan 2017-12-07T18:01:59Z

GOTY, honestly. I love this game. From the grating Italianesque chiptune music to the killer animation when you throw a pizza out the window and hit a customer with it, it's perfectly goofy in every way. Only thing that could possibly be improved is the tutorialization or maybe labeling the sauce/shredder machines.

Get all the Wood by GameDevZach 2017-12-10T18:53:32Z

I love the message behind the game (I think you and I had fairly parallel concepts) and how players get to "experience" deforestation firsthand. I really appreciated the simple controls and the simple yet scenic landscape too. So many games this LD are overly complicated and this was a breath of fresh air.

Hyper diapers by Gaziter 2017-12-10T18:48:17Z

This is probably the most beautiful game I have played so far. It is incredibly stylishly designed and the UI makes total sense. One thing you might consider if you continue to work on the game is that the blue/red objects may not be accessible to a colorblind person. One of my favorite little details though is the way the high score is displayed on the wall. There's a lot of careful design decisions in this that I just love, like the exclamation points and ticking sound that play when a baby is in danger. I got to 14 babies -- the first time I was confused and thought I could open the doors somehow. Anyway, fabulous game.

Rabbit Farmer!!! by EggshellDog 2017-12-10T18:32:03Z

Probably the best execution of the theme I've seen so far. I think it's hilarious. I love chaotic management games like this and the idea of bunnies reproducing is such a perfect fit for it. I agree with the suggestions tobia88 offered, as I was having trouble getting enough funds so the "inherit 1/3 gold" was usually less than the starting $1200. Graphics and particles are very nice, along with the president's "BADABADABADABADA" sound effect.

Extreme Whiski Slalom by bigbazwa 2017-12-10T05:25:26Z

LOL this game is kinda making me sick. I got 1200 on the beginner slope... WOO. The physics in this game are really funny and having a variety of ways to score makes it even better. If I could change one thing I'd make the left-right control less sensitive because I found myself turned around backwards a lot, and because of the player design and scale, I had a hard time telling which way was the front. Though that kinda makes sense considering the context of drunk skiing. Nice sound design too.

Danmaku Burp by trabitboy 2017-12-06T16:10:41Z

Lol, best I could do was 11000. The hand-drawn graphics and the home-made SFX were really funny. I like the concept but agree with @darkgrisen that the game could have been balanced better. Oh, and the player character can go off the screen sometimes. But overall well done!

Dream Roamers by Jegus9 2017-12-08T16:54:15Z

Wow, excellent jam game. It's well designed and has breadth and depth. It did remind me of Binding of Isaac at first but I learned I needed to conserve my ammo in order to survive. I need practice, though... the bomb guys get me every time. :'(

Heavy Hearts by Badly Drawn Rod 2017-12-08T17:10:01Z

Very funny game. At first it reminded me of Balloon Fight with the floating controls and horizontal screen wrapping, but the gameplay is pretty unique. And of course the sound effects are totally hilarious and goofy. Music is pretty grating after a few minutes though. I think I broke my space bar.

Junk by jjjjason 2017-12-08T22:24:51Z

Holy fudge, this is so cool. Asynchronous online multiplayer Tetris, with a well-written story about office workers to frame it within the theme. I love reading through your comments to try and understand how it works, too. I hope you keep working on it because I think if you made a web player version it could be a hit among the general public. As one criticism, I think the transparency on the ghost block should be reduced a lot too -- it was definitely tripping me up. But overall this is one of my favorites this LD.

Metal Fear by LMB 2017-12-08T16:21:38Z

Hey, congrats on your first game jam! You made it! I tested your OSX build and it seems to work fine. The only issue is the control key on the Mac keyboard is really awkward to reach under your left hand. As far as gameplay goes, it's an interesting concept, but I think you're aware it definitely needs visualized bullet trajectories in order to really work. And you're right, the music is really awful (in a good way).

Webshop Live CMS by leffe108 2017-12-10T18:09:29Z

Really unique concept and a clever execution, making it in HTML/JS. The UI is clear and the game's drag-and-drop functionality feels very nice. My favorite part is the flashing red screen when you lose. Best I could do was 3, though, as I couldn't really figure out how to get the cursors to click on Buy. Some better instructions might help other people learn how to play.

Castle Diorama by Abuki 2017-12-08T21:33:43Z

Unique, succinct, and fun. I can definitely see this on mobile/tablet because of the way you can push, pull, and spin objects, especially with new levels. I definitely think you should keep developing it. Only bug I noticed was the HTML5 version in Safari for me has a crunchy green outline on some of the assets that spoils your beautiful artwork a bit. Not a big deal, I know HTML5 can be a pain. Nice job.

Too Many Rules! by Who 2017-12-10T18:00:40Z

Love the concept. Manic simulators are my favorite genre, if that's even a thing. Anyway I found the game was pretty hard to play because it would give me an "X" for things done correctly along with some other bugs I'm sure you're aware of. The music was well-suited, though, and feeds in to the frenzy of trying to hit the right button in time.

I took too many drugs by Neecko 2017-12-10T04:50:23Z

Crazy concept, I enjoyed watching a Twitch streamer play this one and almost puke, haha. I envy your talent with shaders, seriously. And the music is good too.

Mo Money Mo Problems by Oivin F 2017-12-08T16:45:15Z

This game is a nightmare on a touchpad but I still managed to get 12,795. When I find my mouse I'll definitely play this again. It's stylishly designed and the pace of the building chaos was perfect. My only criticism is that it can be hard to hit the coin bags' hit boxes. BTW, the macOS version worked just fine.

EDIT: I came back with my mouse and had a lot more fun with it. AFAIK there isn't a way to exit the leaderboard or game over screens so you just have to force quit, lol. Anyway I loved the difficulty scaling and now I'm interested to see the math behind it. I wanted to take a hammer to the phone after playing for a while but I got a ridiculously high score:

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

ShotLight by Galan 2018-12-05T15:45:50Z

I ran the .bat file and it launched the game just fine (Windows). However I found out I am really terrible at playing it! The sound design is great and gives it a really lo-fi science fictiony feel.

The Sacrificial Liam by jimmothysanchez 2018-12-05T00:13:11Z

Why is Liam so naked and moist?! Funny game with interesting puzzle mechanics. I appreciate how there are many different ways to win a level. The voiceover really pushed it over the top. Nice work.

Bird Butt Battle Royale by uvwar 2018-12-04T23:42:42Z

bangin' soundtrack 🔥 top-notch graphics ✨ realistic bird butt physics 🍑 10/10 GOTY

For the Team! by Ale 2018-12-04T23:14:19Z

Woot for Haxeflixel! This is a really ambitious game, which in game jam terms, means it's really buggy. ;) I keep clipping into the inescapable wall tiles. The enemy artwork is great, it's truly terrifying! Conceptually I really liked the mechanic where you can swap leaders, and the puzzle elements involved. I felt like I needed 3 hands to play though, between WASD, J/K/L, and mouse controls.

Dog Days by ruthiepee 2018-12-05T15:54:22Z

@wizard-exe Were you playing the HTML5 version in Chrome? I fixed a bug that was causing audio to not play. Sorry about that!

@lenny-sirivong You're absolutely right: "the do nothing strat is the best way to enjoy this game." If I expanded on the concept it would just be procedurally generated towns and scenery. No more hot dogs. B)

@limered Yeah, no goals or penalties are this game's fatal flaw. The sacrifice is that you have to destroy some towns in order to give other towns hot dogs, but when you can't 'lose' the game... you're right, it doesn't feel like a sacrifice at all. Oh well.

Dog Days by ruthiepee 2018-12-18T15:24:34Z

@red The names are combined from 3 arrays: the first array is just potty words (Poo, Fart, Booger, etc), the second array has joiner syllables (et, er, son, i, etc), and the last array has place suffixes (-ville, Town, -boro, -delphia, etc). There's a fourth array that has a 10% chance of adding a prefix (Neo, Fort, Olde, etc) but it doesn't work right, haha

Christmas Game by ghodan 2018-12-04T23:27:52Z

Awesome game. My favorite part is the really great UX, from the button overlays to the lead-in of the visuals/sound effects as the worm-thing approaches. I have to say, the story doesn't make any sense, which doesn't make it less fun, it's just funny, lol. I love the flat shading style too, it makes it really appealing and approachable. Nice work!

Intensify This by bhos01 2018-12-04T23:35:03Z

The .exe file ran great for me. It's pretty hard but once you learn the patterns you can win eventually. Took me just a couple tries. :)

Billy's West Quest by Lenny Sirivong 2018-12-04T22:40:27Z

Lovely game! I loved how the tutorials were built into the environment. The divergent paths you can take with the different weapons add some replay value. Only problem I ran into is that I couldn't break down fences after I picked up the gun, haha.

Flufy Hat Co. by JustWall Games 2018-12-05T00:21:34Z

Atmospherically, this game is soooo amazing. I love the variety of the animal "OOF" sound effects and the detailed blood splatter. Obviously the gameplay is a little shallow but it's fun and relaxing just to be like, "aw heck yeah, I made a beanie!"

LD45 — Start with nothing

New.AI by smilewood 2019-10-13T17:42:44Z

Aw, I like this clever little platformer. The story is really funny, albeit the narrator is a little too talkative, lol. The character is cute and its animations feel really nice. The game itself is a bit unforgiving but I've never been good at platformers anyway. I think for a jam game it feels complete and well executed.

Alphabet by rplnt 2019-10-28T15:36:46Z

I love the concept. It felt almost like a tongue-twister at some point, using the arrow keys to move around while hunting for keyboard letters in order to fight back. The look is a little minimal but I like the animations, they're very expressive. Overall pretty fun!

Null Blob by uvwar 2019-10-11T00:35:08Z

Lovely and satisfying blob. My favorite part is when the blob would be flipping over and over to the beat of the music. Played this for way too long and got sucked into the null space myself, it's kinda cold in here

cakewalk by ohsqueezy 2019-10-28T18:53:21Z

Straightforward, addictive, and fun, but eventually made me want to throw my laptop out the window. I love how it builds on the concept to bring new challenge to each level. Great job!

Sticky Fingers by ruthiepee 2019-10-13T18:01:40Z

@theyellowgreninja do you mind sharing what OS/browser you're using? I've tested on several different ones and they all worked fine for me. Thank you!

i don't know what to feel anymore by omnikrll 2019-10-11T00:28:25Z

I adore the creativity of this game, taking the most basic tools and turning them into something really special. The gameplay is really satisfying too, when the screen fills with black or white and reveals the next round. I enjoyed it as a sort of casual relaxing game, but it might be nice to add more gamelike elements like bonus sounds when you find the goal in less than 5 clicks or something like that.

Garbage Shop by MRUniverse 2019-10-13T17:34:35Z

Pretty bleak game, though I'm assuming that's the whole point, even though it makes it hard to rate highly on 'fun' lol. I don't mind the meeples, in fact I think it makes it better when you can project your own assumptions onto abstract characters. My one complaint with the graphics is that the player is hard to see against the dark background. The mechanic is interesting and the story is good, but it's a tad slow, maybe with more people and objects it would feel more active. Nice game.

Ant Capitalist by ManTou 2019-10-13T16:59:15Z

Pretty complex for a jam game, if not a tad confusing. Once I got the hang of it I was easily able to win, but I still didn't understand some of the mechanics. Cute sprites, and I like that it's turn-based. Overall pretty fun!

...Not Even a Body!? by snesgaard 2019-10-13T17:10:58Z

Clever mechanic, really enjoyable controls. I can't figure out how to get past the level with the moving red bar, lol. My favorite part is the possessed character's jump animation. Nice game!

NSFB: Not Safe For Bugs! by wolfybytes 2019-10-11T01:06:04Z

Beautiful, complex game. I can't believe it's a jam game! The music is super relaxing, I've left it on as I'm writing this review. :) I had to reread the description to understand the rules but once I got the hang of it, I had a lot of fun and beat all the levels! The 3D models are sooo cute, I want them as action figures :>

The Lucky Nugget by Julien Kuhn 2019-10-13T17:52:48Z

The decision to not say anything about the gameplay is an interesting one. Maybe give one hint, like telling people to explore by clicking with the mouse, lol. I think the music is perfect and the blocky graphics are really quirky and cute. Is there a score counter on screen? I have a wide monitor and wasn't sure if it is getting cut off or if it was deliberately not included. Just curious. The prologue is a nice touch, I enjoyed the game!

The items, that change everything by Dock Frankenstein 2019-10-13T18:15:14Z

Nice mood, and I do like the lack of instructions even though it was challenging to figure out what was happening. Ultimately I was just pressing every option until things happened, but I got to a point where I was stuck and couldn't figure out how to finish it. The minimalist graphics are really nice however and I still really like the concept. Nice game.

MINUTES TO SHIP by Hydezeke 2019-10-31T23:39:34Z

Holy shit, this may be my favorite LD game ever. The humor, the snappy interface, the ability to draw... All the awards are well-deserved. Congrats!

Not Even A Jump Yet by Nikita Demidov 2019-10-18T11:36:59Z

Nice platformer! Overall the game feels very complete because it includes a save button, a tutorial, and all the parts that make it a game. I can't believe there are 14 levels too, I gave up about halfway but I've never been very good at platformers. ;) The graphics are simple but they get the job done. Nice work!

The Big Bang by EpisodeIvy 2019-10-28T18:43:02Z

I really admire the creative use of Twine, it's really unlike anything I've ever seen. Genuinely enjoyed the punchline too.

Rush, Fumble, and Chomp (play in browser!) by David Shire 2019-10-28T18:34:16Z

I love the guinea pigs!!! All the animations are really cute. The game itself is pretty challenging but fun because there's always a lot of movement going on. Great job!

Game Master by Rodrigo Robles 2019-10-28T18:37:57Z

Amazing take on the theme -- you truly begin with nothing, not even a game. The enemy AI isn't that engaging but honestly the level builder is really fun. I'm really impressed.

The Godpath by Neon Android 2019-10-28T18:44:43Z

I genuinely enjoyed the story, it allows for a lot of choice. It's a really creative use of the tool and the music is really nice for setting the mood. For a jam game it has great replayability too.

Rise of the Fatberg by pumpkinclowning 2019-10-13T17:56:44Z

I adore this game, I think it came out flawless. Very educational too; I think schools should incorporate it into their curriculum. The best part is getting to hear Mario's horrific laughter every time you fail to feed the fatberg. There is a trick to winning and once you figure it out, it's not too hard.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Stranded by KunoNoOni 2020-04-24T22:38:54Z

Holy crap I won! What a roller coaster. At first I was put off by the seemingly complicated interface but it only takes about 30 seconds to learn. Then I thought 'this is easy!' as I stockpiled food. Then I realized that the amount of food and water you need increase over time, lighting a fire under my butt. I almost died when I got one particularly crappy roll. And it seemed like my Scavenging always failed. But lo and behold, I somehow saved up enough wood and flagged down a ship a few days after that. To me it felt really balanced. No complaints here other than maybe clarifying some of the UI and instructions to make the learning curve less steep. I spent way longer than I usually do playing an LD game, so well done. :)

Party Alive by thingus 2020-04-26T16:17:10Z

LOL this game is hysterical. You know, I had the same idea (keeping a party going) but I couldn't figure out how to execute it in a simple enough manner. And I think you managed to do that. I like the generated art, it definitely doesn't take anything away from the gameplay and instead makes it feel like a piece of abstract art. The simple controls are nice, as well as the sound of people chattering. What I'm missing is feedback and an understanding of the game mechanics. I can see people vibrating as they are about to leave, but I don't know what it means. And without a timer or headcount or other UI, I don't know if I've done a good or bad job of maintaining the party.

Tumble Baby by 01010111 2020-04-25T15:56:28Z

I adore Tumble Baby!! Slider puzzles aren't normally my thing but this game totally redefines that 'genre' (if you can call it that). It definitely gets my heart rate going when I haveto quickly slide a bunch of tiles so the baby won't fall onto the spikes. I think the game's speed is well balanced: pretty hard but not impossibly hard, and after a few tries (RIP baby) you eventually figure it out and quickly solve it. However I still haven't figured out the square-block level because I'm an impatient dumdum. Is it bad that I love the baby death sound effect?

Crystal Tag by uvwar 2020-04-24T22:02:14Z

The music is infinitely listenable. The particle trails are beautiful. The way the crystals move in loop-de-loops is just plain fun to watch. I played for maybe 5 minutes and the blue crystal came back which was a nice surprise. I could write a 4-page bulleted essay about how good this game is

Sol Tender by foolmoron 2020-04-26T19:05:06Z

I love how the asteroids animate end-over-end, because they're ovals they look like wobbly footballs. What was the gameplay meant to be if you had finished? PS: Thanks for giving me genuine feedback on my game.

Anibun Help Me! by aeveis 2020-04-26T19:27:49Z

I love the Anibuns! Their characterizations and animations are so cute. I love the different 'personalities' of the AI, like a more sophisticated version of the Pac-Man ghosts. Even though the tutorial is really simple, I thought it was smart to scatter it across the map to encourage exploration. I never got the hang of dashing correctly but clustering with the other Anibuns in the center and shielding each other turned out to be the move. The music and sound effects are understated but nice. The typeface and UI are really pretty as well. Keep making cute games! :rabbit2:

Interstellar Connection by celia14 2020-04-26T18:02:43Z

Wow, this game is really incredible! The puzzle aspect is totally original and clever. I thought the pacing was great, with the puzzles getting trickier near the end. The narrative really surprised me, it's so understated and sweet. The Maglevs in Love reference made me laugh. My favorite part is the UI, it's just gorgeous. This is my favorite game I've seen so far. And to be honest, seeing other women developers on LD makes me so, so happy. I'm glad you released a post-jam mobile-friendly version with endless puzzle mode, I'm gonna check it out.

104 BPM by codyhansen 2020-04-25T16:13:28Z

I love this interpretation of the theme and the uh... "educational" quality of this game. I played on Very Easy to figure out the controls and found it too easy, then I played on the hardest difficulty and did really poorly, LOL. I think with some practice I could get better. I love seeing rhythm games on LD! Two pieces of critical feedback: like others have mentioned, the feedback for when you hit or miss a note could be more explicit (audio, screenshake when you miss, a combo counter, etc -- lots of different ways it could be done). And second, the layout of the keys is throwing me off, with ASD going counterclockwise but JKL going clockwise. Maybe it's just me, but it's something to think about. Obviously if this was say, a Bemani title, I'd be asking for remappable controls and more song selections but considering this is a game made by a single person in 48 hours I think you've done an awesome job. :)

Turbogotchi! by joemag 2020-04-26T14:51:00Z

LOL this interpretation of the theme is sooooo clever. I laughed really hard at that alone. The gameplay is paced really nicely and it was fun to embrace the hecticness of managing 6 Turbogotchis. It seemed like they pooped around the same time so my strategy was to do a round of feeding, a round of cleaning, and a round of patting, then repeat the cycle. I think I did pretty well? Also the music is nice, I didn't notice it while I was playing because of all the sound effects but it's playing in the background as I'm writing this and it's really relaxing (unlike the game).

GhostVac by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2020-04-26T18:09:11Z

Ahaha, this is really funny and unique. In a nutshell it's like Luigi's Mansion mixed with Pinball and Hungry Hungry Hippos. The score display is obviously so, so cool. The controls feel really nice, and I like how the difficulty scales. I couldn't beat the boss right off the bat but I bet I could with some practice. Overall it feels really immersive and like a real pinball table. I think you could add a little more feedback for when the ghosts go in the goals (maybe sounds or flashing lights) but other than that it's a really tight game.

The Heads by ghodan 2020-04-26T19:15:46Z

The first time you get spotted by the enemy, it's genuinely scary. Then when you see its eyes... AAAH! I love the mechanic of deciding whether to escape or get more supplies, it gives the game a lot of replay value. Level design wise, it's perfectly sized, and I like the ramps and stairs that give it height. I had trouble getting up the spiral staircase because it was a little too narrow but other than that the level design was great. The little grace period you get between being spotted and being killed is a great way to build tension. Visually it was a little too dark on my monitor but overall I love the dithered effect and the scanline-y typeface. I got a B rank (after a couple of deaths). Nice game.

MR BUZZ'S FANCY-ASS PICNIC by MrLeePerry 2020-04-26T19:01:32Z

Extremely polished game, really nice UI and clear gameplay goals. The sound effects are hysterical. I guess if I had to give critique, the only thing that's frustrating is how the game takes over the mouse and hides the cursor, it's slightly disorienting at first. My high score is 12.

Flowdating by spthiel 2020-04-28T18:49:01Z

Cool game, I appreciate the effort in designing all the different endings even though I don't have the patience to get through each of them. :stuck_out_tongue: I got married to the flower at the end. The humor in the concept and the writing are really nice. Small note, the algebra question doesn't make any sense to me but I figured out what the "right" answer was after a round or two of seeing it. The flower sprite and the way it grows is really cute. My only criticism is that the music is pretty repetitive but there's a mute button so it's fine. Nice work!

YMGYPBVF: You Must Gather Your Party Before Venturing Forth by amkingTRP 2020-04-26T18:19:39Z

I'm impressed how many levels there are in this game! I feel like tutorials too are a rarity in game jams, so kudos for that. It reminds me of sliding puzzles from other games, but with a small twist. The music is understated and helps you concentrate on the puzzles. The sounds were kind of loud, especially the "BLUUHHH" one (even though I have to admit it made me laugh when I first heard it). I came here because I saw your post about changing the character styles and I think you should go for it -- this type of game would do really well on sites like Kongregate if you polished it up, added more levels, and made a nice title screen for it.

ZombieSoil by bovandenberg 2020-04-26T16:04:15Z

Hey, this is a nice little game! Right off the bat, the logo is really attractive. The design of the tree and the way it grows is cool too. The way the tree grabs the zombies and 'eats' them surprised me at first but the way it's animated is really snappy and fun. The game does get impossibly hard at a point, which I think is intentional. The weapon drops worked well toward making the pacing feel exciting yet manageable. As for criticisms, obviously it lacks audio, and the concept is similar to a lot of other games on here so it's not the most original idea. But it's a fun game and it looks nice.

And a tip for Ludum Dare, you'll get more ratings if you build an HTML5 version. It's because people are on Mac/Linux, on a school/work computer, or they're just lazy, lol. Make sure you play and rate other games too!

Totally Accurate Delivery Simulator by pinosaur 2020-10-16T17:06:41Z

Really pleasant experience. I like the crunchy, solid-color shading and the nice driving controls. But like everyone here, I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to be doing. Nevertheless I had fun possessing cars and driving them into the river.

Save the last Plant by Westmave 2020-04-26T15:49:18Z

WOOOOOOP! Congrats on making a game!! It's no easy feat, so take some time to appreciate the awesome work you did. Then come back and make another one in the fall. And another one. And another one. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I liked the back story and the artwork. The music is quite nice too. I've seen several other top-down shooters where the player is trying to protect a plant so I can't say it's the most original but I like the concept. The controls and gameplay were clear, high scores are a nice feature, and you even had a Quit button (a rarity on compo games). Some improvements could be made, for example holding the mouse instead of rapidly clicking would improve the player's "quality of life" a lot. The itch.io page is cropping the HTML5 version of the game so you can't see the UI -- I think you can fix this on your itch.io page settings. Oh, and don't forget to loop your music. Nice work, I hope you keep making games!

The Last Life by NiKKrope 2020-04-26T15:09:19Z

Nice game if not a little basic. There are some subtle things I really like about this game: the movement controls, the way the character faces the mouse, the slight inaccuracy of the first gun, and the pretty leaf animation when the tree gets damaged. However if I can offer a bit of constructive criticism, the pacing is a bit frustrating. The game starts off super slow and easy, gets really hard until you can afford the next gun, and then by the end (I'm guessing when the waves are at peak speed) it's slow again. I could have played indefinitely but without a scoring system or more items in the shop there's not really a reason to keep going. Just something to think about if you continue to work on it.

SAVE THE DINOS! by marcusnystrand 2020-04-26T18:28:36Z

Awesome game. I originally clicked on the thumbnail because you and I both made a game with a similar theme. Only yours is executed a lot better, LOL. The added mechanic of getting the dinosaurs to mate was really clever and well done. The game overall has a lot of polish and I love the particle effects. I think maybe the difficulty scales too quickly, because it becomes impossibly hard really fast around the one minute mark. I got 1:26 which reading the other comments seems pretty good. ;)

Across the Lake by stephan steinbach 2020-04-24T22:10:41Z

I adore this game! The atmospheric music and the parallax background are beautiful. I wanna share this with my coworkers as a way to help them relax. I must be pretty bad because the most I got was 7 skips / 92.3m, haha. I tried my best to cheat but couldn't make it happen. I've never heard of Quadplay till now, but it looks really fun to use.

Forest Frenzy by Catomag 2020-04-26T15:38:36Z

I love "falling sand" games and I was excited to see there was one done for Ludum Dare! IMO that's super ambitious (maybe... too ambitious for a jam) and I'm really impressed all by the work that went into the engine. I loved watching the plants mound up in interesting ways. Sure, like you said it's not balanced at all. Like, I got rid of the lava in about 2 seconds and spent the rest of the game just watering plants. But that's not a bad thing. Besides the lack of audio my biggest critique would be the unclear UI, which I think you could instantly fix by including describing the controls and instructions on the LD page. Thanks for making this, I had fun.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

A bright light flashes and when it subsides... by KunoNoOni 2020-10-16T17:36:16Z

Lovely game, I always enjoy your LD contributions. Admittedly I also had issues with the small font size (picture for reference) but I got my glasses out and played through it anyway. I thought the story was plenty long, especially for a jam game. It is a little cumbersome when you get soooo far and you have to repeat all your steps, but at least the text helps you out sometimes. I really liked the word puzzles toward the very end. Now I wanna know what's up with all the groundhogs...

Screen Shot 2020-10-16 at 1.18.32 PM.png

A bright light flashes and when it subsides... by KunoNoOni 2020-10-28T02:07:39Z

@kunonooni I'm using Firefox on Windows at 100% (normal) zoom. However I do have my Windows UI scaling at 125%. Dunno!

Spincar by uvwar 2020-10-16T16:49:18Z

Cool little toy, it's really satisfying to fly around. I hope you do keep working on it after the jam because it could be really fun to jump through hoops or engage in a 2-player Spincar battle. The particle trail looks really nice and does double duty in helping the player understand which direction they're moving, which I thought was clever.

Round Out by foolmoron 2020-10-16T16:45:18Z

Loving the polish and style of this game. I especially love the dissonant sounds you get when making a 2-3x combo. Using a mouse, I got 19367 on my first try! The secret is to circle things quickly and nab combos, and also to read the instructions, which many commenters here seem to not do. Looking forward to playing again.

Roll your Dough by ancient-pixel 2020-10-15T19:26:36Z

Cool concept, you definitely got the dystopian vibes going with the repetitive "wake up, go to work" cycle on repeat. Now that I've mentioned it, I realize there are two 'loops' going on -- the daily routine and the bagels. I didn't have trouble figuring out what to do but I will admit I didn't finish the game because I'm playing on a touchpad and all the rolling was wearing my finger out, LOL. I liked the graphics quite a lot. The alarm sound is, well, alarming. And the bagel facts were great. Nice game.

Hamster Simulator by ruthiepee 2020-10-05T19:01:49Z

Ah thank you for the feedback @remzo, I made a mistake implementing the Unity GUI Canvas so the hotspots scale improperly with the browser. I'll work on this but if anyone reading this is having an issue, try resetting your browser's zoom to 100% (shortcut: CTRL+0).

On the Phone (2020) by Linus Lindberg 2020-10-16T18:10:03Z

I really appreciated this experience, like a more somber and introspective version of a virtual pet. I'm going to leave it open for a while and see what happens. Just one piece of design critique, the "press space" text is not readable against the background for me (at 2:00pm). Now I'm just wondering: what's outside the window?

Samsara Safari by jelch 2020-10-22T16:01:38Z

The aesthetic is so, so cool. I really adore the cutscenes, the graininess and ethereal music really do sound transportive. I was pleasantly surprised by the breadth of the game, switching between three characters with different abilities (even if I only got a couple of the wheels). The sound effects are definitely weird but didn't feel out of place. Overall I think this is one of the most memorable games I've seen.

EXIT CODE 0 by Silvae 2020-10-16T23:24:34Z

This is a beautifully designed game. I like how simple the controls and objectives are, yet things like the color palette and font add an austere mood to it. The way the levels build the player's knowledge is brilliantly done. Level 4 (I think it was 4 -- the one with the gap) took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out. Wonderful interpretation of the theme. I think this is one of the best compo games I've seen this LD.

Cricetus Apparatus by Jima 2020-10-16T18:28:13Z

Oh my god, yes!! I had to click on this thumbnail because I made a hamster game too, but it's funny how far you took it with the theme. The way you navigate the room is really immersive and fun. The visual style is nice and all the UI is really clear, no complaints here. I have to go to a meeting now but I can't wait to come back and upgrade my hamster's equipment and see what happens next.

SPACELOOP by gwinnell 2020-10-16T22:44:12Z

Beeeeautiful game! Really stunning UI, transition animations, and particles. I love how simple the built-in tutorialization is at the beginning (I want to remember that trick for my next game). The controls feel really responsive and warping to the next loop is really satisfying. I did feel a bit confused around where I was aiming -- sometimes it's because the crosshairs are white and blend in with the stars a little bit, and maybe also because my tired brain couldn't compute the angle fast enough. It looks like you're already thinking about it but it's just one little thing in this otherwise perfect game. Awesome work.

Track Day by Remzo 2020-10-05T19:20:51Z

Wow, how are people already so good at this game? My best time was 2 and a half minutes, lol. This game slaps. I think the only thing that was a little more frustrating than fun is that the car can get lost off screen. But everything else is perfect.

Mr Ballman by MrSchlag2 2020-10-16T18:16:39Z

The music rocks! The sound effects, the animations and the gradients that energize the 'charge' all build really nicely. The mechanic is tied nicely to the theme, even when it gets unwieldy at times: spinning charges you faster but makes it really hard to aim, forcing different styles of play. Overall a nice interpretation of the theme and a nice game.

Chamber by Pedro Medeiros 2020-10-15T18:58:04Z

This is such a ridiculously good game, not just for a jam, but period. I love the twist of being able to select which rooms you want to add to your current run -- I don't know if I've ever seen that in a roguelike but it's a welcome alternative to having to memorize a whole bunch of weapons and items and whatever. Even knowing what's ahead, there's still plenty of randomness to make each loop feel fresh too. Controls are solid and good variety in the enemies. I can't stop playing!

UFO taxi! by island-jam-2-group-3 2020-10-15T19:16:12Z

Nice little game, the concept is totally unique and enjoyable. I wasn't expecting it to be that short haha, but glad to hear you're planning to add more levels! I think the difficulty of the levels scales very nicely, teaching the player over time. The graphics are a little basic but they get the job done. Of course it could use some music too. Great work!

Satellone by Weirdybeardyman 2020-10-16T18:22:32Z

The somber text, the dark color palette, and the moody music all contribute to a wonderful atmosphere. My only critique of the style is... why does the moon have a smiley face on it? lol. Like others I found the controls a bit unwieldy and the amount of gas you have at the beginning a little unforgiving. But the atmosphere you created makes it overall an enjoyable experience.

Weighing of the Heart by thesedatedprince 2020-10-15T19:09:40Z

Thanks for including the detailed instructions, I had trouble figuring out the gameplay on my own. I did make it to the ending (which was really funny). The loop of the theater scene made it a little repetitive but I enjoyed the concept and all the dialogue at the end.

Loopstuck by Nobleboy 2020-10-16T23:39:42Z

I'm laughing so hard at "loop stuuuuck." Of course the controls are totally unwieldy and floaty/slippery but that's what ya get for breaking a jar of grease everywhere. At least you can restart the game pretty quickly. I'm probably not gonna finish this game but I 100% enjoyed what I saw.

Loopy Hoop by Ratrat44 2020-10-05T19:08:59Z

I like the tutorial included in the center of the playfield, it's super easy to pick up the game and understand how to play. I agree with some others, the speed of the player & enemies seems slow but that doesn't stop it from being totally anxiety-inducing when the lasers start beaming in! Really unique take on the theme, I don't think I've played anything quite like this. Nice work.

Programmer Nightmare by Cary Stanley 2020-10-16T22:27:10Z

I was bout to be MAD at that wizard before I realized what the right answer was... haha! I love the originality of this game, which is reminiscent of an oldschool adventure game with a looping environment. It'd be nicer with some audio but I really appreciate the inventiveness of it and the funny dialog.

Just in Time by Pietrek 2020-10-16T23:06:04Z

The ending just made me laugh out loud, I don't know if the quick cut back to the title screen was intentional but it reinforces the idea of the loop. The time-rewinding effect is really, really cool. What I like is that it takes a game like a normal platformer and makes it a little more focused and forgiving because you don't have to start over all the way at the beginning. I didn't think the game was too challenging, especially after I figured out you can sort of cheat and double bounce twice as high. Really enjoyed playing it!

Orbeatz by PastelGames 2020-10-05T15:04:58Z

I love rhythm games and this one is no exception. Everything about it so pleasant, even the dizzy feeling I get afterward. :stuck_out_tongue: I got 194/197 on the easy song but I won't tell you how badly I did on the harder ones, haha. I love the color palette and the little particle effect when you hit a note just right.

The Magician's Maze by MidoriMelody 2020-10-16T22:11:30Z

Fun game! The player controls were just fine to me. I like the stealth element of avoiding the guards and the way the doorknobs change color once you've found the right one. After getting to the inner rings of the maze it did get a bit cumbersome to have to restart the maze each time, but overall I like the vibes of this game.

Hero Rabbit On The Bed by JoshuaRabbit 2020-10-16T23:49:27Z

Yay, I won! I wasn't expecting that boss fight, but that made it even more fun. The story was really lovely, and the hand-drawn graphics gave it a very intimate feeling. The sound effects are unique but on my computer they were really loud. I think that's my only critique. Of course it's a little easy but I know it's important that people get the whole story, so I don't mind that. Really nice game!

Clone Kitchen by StormCat 2020-10-16T16:34:02Z

The Mac version won't open (generic error, "The application can't be opened"). I'll try to get on a PC later because this game looks really cool!

Clone Kitchen by StormCat 2020-10-22T16:14:33Z

I came back to play this on PC as promised. The tutorial is very thorough and well-appreciated. I found something about the controls didn't stick with me, I kept forgetting jump was W and hold was Space because in many games space is also jump. Anyway, what a weird and funny game! At first I was mad because the clones were ruining everything, but then I found the chaos to be really, really funny. I made $41... sad.

Protogonus by RNGames 2020-10-16T18:04:28Z

Holy cow! What a nicely polished, complex strategy game. I played it for a lot longer than I play most jam games. I will say it isn't too challenging until you get at least to level 4, so maybe the difficulty curve could be a tiny bit different but overall I really enjoyed this one. I think it'd do really well on mobile, so I hope you keep working on it.

HamsterLoop by Misterm 2020-10-16T22:33:17Z

Hello hamster friend! I'm so impressed with the breadth of this game. Usually jam games are missing some crucial feature (like a win condition lol) but yours has everything and it even has a dang options menu! Controlling the hamster is really fun, I feel like it's very forgiving even though it never stops moving. That causes some interesting tension when you don't know which direction to go and you're just going back and forth to stall for time. The peanuts add an extra challenge that's really fun. The art is friendly and approachable, and the music suits it perfectly. Awesome job!

Millenniloop by nerdytopic 2020-10-16T22:18:31Z

At first I was kinda bummed there was no "end," but then I realized it's more realistic that way, LOL. First of all I love the pleasant millennial color palette, it really soothed the tension of bills trying to kill you. And I found the player controls really nicely implemented -- they're smooth and responsive. Of course it would be nicer with some background music but the hilarious concept makes up for it. Nice work!

Bind Off by dumplingsquid 2020-10-16T22:54:01Z

I just started knitting this fall and I found this game to be a completely lovely experience. On top of the nice poem's sentiment around making mistakes, the gameplay is relaxing and fun. Though if I'm being completely honest I couldn't find the mistake in the reindeer level so I button-mashed through it. The music is so perfect too. Really creative use of Bitsy.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

The Limbo Runner by jk5000 2021-05-17T14:33:12Z

OH MY GOSH, THE VOICE ACTING LOL. Besides the obvious silliness there is a lot to love about this game -- a simple mechanic that's difficult to master, very clear and appealing design, and really energizing audio. I suppose the angle of the camera can make this a little harder than it should be, but I mean, what a solid game. Thanks for the laughs.

Deeper in color by sparked99 2021-05-17T15:42:30Z

Fun arcade shooter. I think the difficulty curve is pretty well done. The controls feel quick and really responsive so kudos for that. The trails were really cool and it would be neat to see them play a bigger role in the game, but it's a solid entry nonetheless.

WATERCOLOR GALAXY by chaoclypse 2021-05-17T14:41:36Z

Very cool, really enjoyed the 'mechanic' of clicking to create new points. All the controls are pretty intuitive though I made myself a little dizzy with the Zoom Speed option LOL. The crayon-like lines and elegant blurring make every composition very elegant. Only issue I had was sometimes I would accidentally create points while sliding the sliders all the way to the right but it doesn't really matter. I got a very pretty concentric streaking effect after letting it run a while.

HyperJack by pkenney 2021-05-17T13:45:19Z

I think my favorite part about this game is your instruction to "don't read, just play." That says a lot about the design on its own -- I really admire the miniature "tutorial" at the beginning. Sure there could be music and the audio could be better but this is a really well-rounded jam game otherwise, from the very unique physics mechanics to the satisfying clearing of the screen. Took me a while to get the hang of it, but when I got a rhythm going from left to right across the screen it was really nice. It's a pretty hard game (I managed to get 945... I don't know how others are getting such high scores lol). But yeah, very nice feeling game.

Under the Stove by ruthiepee 2021-05-10T17:56:52Z

@ladybenko unfortunately no, that's a limitation of the Roblox platform. It's free and only takes a second to sign up, but I feel you, I wouldn't download Roblox just to play a jam game either :P

Under the Stove by ruthiepee 2021-05-18T13:29:29Z

@xatulu @dpmzi @pkenney holy moly, thank you all so much for pushing this one over the finish line. And props to you all for being open-minded about Roblox -- whether you like it or not (and I don't, really).

acro bat by PaperAeroplane555 2021-05-17T14:56:47Z

Difficult but fun. The controls were pretty simple and intuitive which is this game's strength. I like that taking damage just resets you to the beginning of the room -- it's more forgiving that way. Of course it would be better with some audio but the mechanics are solid.

Ore Hoarder by Justin_C 2021-04-26T18:46:18Z

Really nice and full-featured game. This reminds me of an old Flash game I played years ago and forgot the name of, but I really enjoy this genre of game (upgrades + digging). It's a little slow at first but it's very intuitive to play and satisfying to keep reaching for the next upgrade. Sound could be a little better, sure, but I think this is a really complex game and I'm impressed with everything you accomplished in just 48 hours!

OceanMen by Talia 2021-05-17T15:13:28Z

Very nice mood created by the little details such as the flashlight and bubbles. The music sets a good mood too but gets a little repetitive after some time. I appreciate the simple, mouse-only controls and think others would enjoy this relaxing game. I think it could be more enjoyable if the diver could sprint or swim faster for a short amount of time but overall nice game.

all the king's men by otresnjak 2021-05-17T14:13:20Z

Beautiful and clever. I could see this game being very popular. Lovely affirmations to read on a day when you're feeling down. I really like the particle trail, it helps you learn what path to take next time. And being able to see the next level deep in the background is very nice for understanding what's up next.

The MindDiver by Pierre.F 2021-04-26T17:53:27Z

Very appealing game, definitely nailed the atmosphere. The ending surprised me quite a bit (without giving any spoilers) and the story fit perfectly with the theme. At times the character movement was sorta slow/clunky but it helped build tension that was necessary for the story. Really nice looking game too, great job!

Underground Chaos by Lombax 2021-05-17T15:35:01Z

I really love the frog sprite and its walk cycle, that's my favorite part. Movement is too slow and obviously the game is missing some things like you said. But the fact that you can walk up the wall is really cool. PS: Is your file a zip file within another zip file? lol

RK XK by NiKaDra 2021-05-17T13:54:24Z

Very full-featured for a game jam, I certainly enjoyed it. There's something satisfying about drilling and discovering a fresh new cave, and digging and dusting the skulls and other artifacts. Of course with few dangers and not too much in the way of goals it feels a little sandbox-y but I definitely think this could be successful if you do choose to keep working on it. Nice visual design and audio design too, I love all the different color palettes of the caves.

2021-04-26 14_17_09-Darwings.png

2021-04-26 14_20_40-Darwings.png Not my best drawings, haha. What a cool game, though. I feel like GUI in Unity is so tedious (especially in jams) but you have managed to make it look really beautiful. All of the UI and controls are very intuitive and I love the drawing-based gameplay. Is there anything else once you've reached the bottom? Lovely atmosphere created by the monochromatic visual style and the nice ambient music -- I feel like I could listen to this while working all day. Excellent game!

Swoop - Save the Princess from falling rubble! by Zuvr 2021-05-17T13:27:06Z

Nice looking game, love the dark and textured pixel art tone. I made it to the bottom with a score around 70. It took me a bit to understand what to do / how to earn more points. But the fact that it isn't endless and there isn't a lose state makes it an interesting concept beyond other games in the "category." Really appreciate the minimap too!

Hometown Helper by DWink 2021-05-17T14:22:13Z

Oh, I won! That sort of surprised me because I'm not sure what triggered it, haha. I really liked all the dialog and figuring out which items would help me on each quest. I don't mind that there aren't any graphics, but the UI should feel more responsive (i.e. give some sort of feedback when the user takes actions). But I love the concept and all the writing -- it was definitely worth a play and made me laugh.

Past the Final Frontier by towergame 2021-04-26T19:07:56Z

Really interesting concept for a game. And yes, I love the CRT effect too! I've reached a point in the gameplay where things are starting to get quite repetitive between Saturn->Neptune and I'm failing most missions even though it says my chances are "Excellent," so I'll take the time to write a review. I really like these kinds of games, almost like upgrades with a gambling component. I also really like the theme of a vintage government space program. It's not completely clear to me how each component affects my chances of succeeding in the mission but I'm having fun experimenting with different setups. Nice music too. So thank you, I'm enjoying it.

Rapid Descent by Zakolnuki 2021-05-17T15:31:27Z

This game surprised me with its nicely done UI and multiplayer mechanics. The controls feel really tight and the graphics are really easy to "read" visually. The minimal design really suits it. Needs some audio and if you could add some variety to the level generation I could see this being a really popular game in an arcade.

Adam Wilks' Ant Colony by Adam Wilks 2021-05-17T14:05:55Z

As a huge fan of SimAnt, I liked this game a lot. I see that other people are confused by some of the mechanics but having played SimAnt for many hours as a kid I have some idea of how to "win" this game. With that said the design is a little too "on the nose" (like even the green blobs of food are similar in design). I appreciate the depth of the mechanics you've been able to implement in such a short time. Other commenters have left you some great suggestions but one I will add is that I wish the selected ant didn't get deselected when you choose an action. That one little change would make a big difference. Nice work.

Dig It Out by Threaded Lama Digital 2021-05-17T14:50:20Z

Almost didn't click on this game because it didn't have a thumbnail on the LD homepage but I'm glad I did, haha. Funny concept and I appreciated the surprise of all the different objects you can dig up. It's also a nice looking game and the audio is a banger. I like how you gave both audio and visual feedback for the metal detector. The concept fits the theme perfectly even when the gameplay is a little tedious at times.

Vinewell by dpmzi 2021-05-17T13:36:32Z

Really cool game, I'm rockin out to the music. I think the simplicity of the controls and the UI are the most polished part -- it's very easy to jump into the game and immediately understand what's going on. The mechanics feel really balanced too. I especially liked how you can sharpen the sword on the rock (took me a minute to figure out that's what it was doing). I played a few times and got a high score of 882. I think my only suggestion would be to improve the players' awareness of where their hitbox is and what spikes will cause them to die. Cool spin on the Downwell "genre," the mechanics are really unique.

Deep Sea by Phlebas 2021-05-17T15:08:19Z

There is more to this little game than what's at the surface. The mechanics are a little slow and unengaging at times but I love the way that you tell a story through the objects. The audio is simple but works. I got to the bottom but wasn't sure what to do, if anything. Enjoyed it, thanks for making it.

IntoDreams by SlenderTNT 2021-05-17T15:39:57Z

Really lovely style, very refreshing after playing about 30 pixel art games haha. I really liked the audio, especially the whistle to tell you when the portal to the next level has opened up. The gun feels a little slow/unresponsive but I suppose it makes the shooting feel more intentional. The bombs are VERY fun but you do have to remember to back away from it. ;)

Dreamania by Gomega 2021-05-17T15:23:18Z

Pretty interesting, and I love the cute theme of going deeper in dreams as a sort of roguelike mechanic. It starts out very manageable but I got overwhelmed by enemies around the 3rd level. The red ones seem the most difficult, maybe they could be balanced better by having fewer health than the others. Overall cute and fun.

The deepest curse by Bobafett89 2021-04-26T18:10:02Z

Nice game with lots of content for a jam game. It's a basic platformer at heart but the puzzle design is nicely done. However even on easy mode it is pretty unforgiving -- I think the hitbox on the character should be slightly smaller to reduce the potential frustration to your users. Having the player reset back to a nearby checkpoint of the map was a very smart move though. On my first try I made it down to the (spoiler alert) double jump area before I lost all my HP.

Treasure Hunter by Scrawach 2021-04-26T18:37:19Z

The best part about the game is the ability to play as a treasure chest who can eat objects and gain HP. I don't know why but that part is really satisfying to me. Second best part is the nice 3D models and atmospheric lighting. The cutscenes add a lot of content for a jam game, so kudos for that. I could never get the hang of the projectile shot since it seemed like I was shooting off screen. But other than that, and there not being any music (at least on the HTML5 version) this is a great game.

LD49 — Unstable

Overloaded Server by kbf123 2021-10-11T18:44:41Z

Nice little time management game with cute sprites. Who designs a kitchen that required jumping?! All jokes aside this was a great-looking game with clear objectives. Would've been nice to have some audio for feedback and to make the game loop a little less monotonous but the computer/router fixing keeps you on your toes. I like how pressing the power button quits the game, lol.

Unstable Ground by gamepopper 2021-10-10T19:10:17Z

Unstable Ground is easy to pick up but hard to master -- one of my favorite qualities in a game, especially in a jam game. I made it to Day 25 with 5 people. I need to do one more playthrough to understand the mechanics of the people but I had great fun trying to balance the buildings. The graphics are quite handsomely done in a "2-bit" palette. The music is pretty repetitive but the tone suits the game. Well done!

Nuclide by irwatts 2021-10-11T17:20:05Z

I have to admit, I didn't understand what I was supposed to do at first. But once I figured out the mechanics, I had fun playing this elegant little puzzler. So maybe add a sentence or two of instructions somewhere on the page for others? The extremely polished style, cool and buzzy audio, pretty particles and fun physics make this a really great game. And I love the take on the theme.

Our autopilot is somewhat unstable... by mborecki 2021-10-11T19:14:10Z

I really like the concept, having to manage a limited amount of 'resources' with a little bit of a logic/programming twist. I thought the tutorial and the interface were pretty intuitive to use. The game looks and feels pretty simplistic but the gameplay is genuinely creative and fun. I got 10 clients but could probably do better if I tried. :P

Frogmented World by spudboy 2021-10-11T18:05:43Z

Very cool puzzle platformer! I like how the mechanics gradually build on themselves. I didn't understand the warping mechanic at first, until I accidentally walked into the particles, so maybe it needs a sentence or two on this page to onboard people a little better. The levels with the robots and the diagonal jump traversal are BRILLIANT! The first robot one stumped me for a while but I was so delighted when I figured it out. The froggy sprite is super cute too but the puzzle design is what really stands out about Frogmented World. Definitely worth a play! 2021-10-11 14_03_27-Frogmented World by spudboy — Mozilla Firefox.png

KungFun BaLance by LuhUchiha 2021-10-11T19:25:39Z

The serene tone of the game is my favorite part, made by the elegant black and white graphics and the music. The first time I played, I didn't notice the balance indicator because it doesn't have much contrast against the background, so that's something that could be improved. But overall the balancing mechanic is really satisfying once you get the hang of it. Nice game!

Un's Table by IndigoWolf 2021-10-11T17:49:53Z

I actually like the use of the theme -- it works as both Un's Table and 'unstable.' The gameplay is not the most fun as it's pretty finicky and the food randomly disappears sometimes. But props for trying to make a time management in a jam, that's hard to do.

BIG BAD LAB by ddolgov 2021-10-11T18:17:39Z

Fun and hectic. Definitely impossible to play without reading the directions ahead of time so make sure you do that. I really like the idea of a single player time management game with Among Us minigame vibes. The synapse connector was my least favorite, it was a little too finicky and made my eyes hurt watching it spin. Some music that speeds up as you move through the phases would be the cherry on top, but I found it to have an interesting concept and fun gameplay anyway.

Perilous Potions by Deprecat 2021-10-10T19:56:46Z

What a lovely game!! Potion brewing is perfect for this October Ludum Dare. I really appreciated the 'scaffolding' of the gameplay -- the fact that you are learning how to play while playing is really smart. The graphics are super charming and cute, and the music is perfectly spoo00ooky. 🧙🏻‍♀️

Giant Horse Deathball by fakefirefly 2021-10-10T20:31:09Z

Holy shit, this game made me feel like I was going absolutely insane. Just a big whirling blob of animals smashing things. Between the swirling mechanics, the camera controls, and the kooky music, the game definitely sucked my brain in and wouldn't let go. I played it all the way to the end -- my score was 511.59 (LOL @ the score having decimal points in it). Once you get a big enough deathball going, it's not too hard. I found it easiest to just zoom out all the way. My eyes kinda hurt now but man I had a great time playing Giant Horse Deathball.

Sticky Wheel by TopperVideoGames 2021-10-11T19:35:13Z

At first I thought this was going to be like one of those hamsterball levels in Super Mario Galaxy that always drove me to the brink of madness but I'm glad I kept going because it is absolutely not that. The 'sticky' Katamari-like mechanic was really cleverly used here as a puzzle mechanic. The graphics are simple but that didn't bother me because the puzzles were so interesting. The music is a little too simple though. I was really delighted with (spoiler alert) the level with the sticky rod and the rails. Really really clever.

Un's Table by Eva Knight 2021-10-10T19:33:42Z

I could totally imagine this as a Mario Party minigame. The mechanic of the table is well done and I appreciated the visual indicators of the tilt, though there are some things like audio, scoring, and some visual polish that could enhance the sense of panic you get from trying to balance the table.

Helico Pter by 3LSTMsInATrenchcoat 2021-10-10T19:44:44Z

The helicopter sprite is so clever, I love the "1-dimensional" animation of the rotor. With that said, the cute style belies how brutally hard this game is. I made it to level 2 which felt like quite the accomplishment. I feel like the sensitivity of the landing could be a liiiittle bit more forgiving. Definitely had fun with the controls and recommend this for anyone who loves a challenge.

Really really funny game with a cute facade that makes it even funnier. I unironically like the photo collage style. 16 joints is definitely absurd but I found a technique that got me to the end (repeatedly pressing QWERUIOP like a piano roll. Creative and fun!

No hands Dorifto by Gorypixels 2021-10-11T19:01:35Z

Is it just me or is it playing way too fast in my browser? I can barely get above a score of 20 by mashing the spacebar as soon as the game starts. Edit: I just read some of the other comments and yupppppp, I think it's running in double-time or something! My monitor's refresh rate is 144hz for reference. Let me know if you come up with a solution, I'll come back and try it again. :)

No hands Dorifto by Gorypixels 2021-10-12T16:47:01Z

@gorypixels works great, I tested it out on iOS (iPhone 11 / Safari). I was able to get up to 121! I could see this being an arcade game like Black Emperor if you added little more variety. Great little mobile game and I love the added challenge of trying to beat the "world record."

Oopsie Potion by CodeRaurus 2021-10-11T17:08:08Z

Really nice sprite art! The wizard is really cute and overall super appearling. I liked the quick action of this game quite a lot even though it's short. It's very polished and I appreciated the mini tutorial guide. Highest score I got was 1485 somehow.

It's All In Your Head by real_flamingicecubegames 2021-10-10T19:25:09Z

Took me about 15 minutes to complete the game, which is a little longer than I might play a typical LD game but I found the writing was really strange and engaging. The map is huge but the combination of the run button and the colored paths helped wayfinding quite a bit. All of the NPCs are incredibly unhelpful, lol, so at some point I stopped talking to them, so that's definitely something to consider. The green area with the groovin trees is obvs the best. Fun stuff.

Noinun40 by Itzemii 2021-10-11T17:43:34Z

The core mechanic is really simple yet interesting. I like how it's posited as an "anti-match-3" and that describes it really well. At first I didn't understand what I was doing but I re-read the directions a couple times and got it. So maybe a better description of the controls could be helpful. (Edit: I noticed the directions are are cut off in the web version, at least for me.) I thought the elements starting to wiggle as they became more unstable was some nice feedback that really ups the tension as the board fills up. The music is a bit strange and unnerving but it totally fits with the style of the elements and adds to the tension too. Nice!

Tipsy by AlexanderSantiago 2021-10-11T18:54:05Z

Nice, tightly designed balancing game. Definitely difficult but not impossible -- you start to figure it out after a couple of restarts. I really like the simple, clean style and how it keeps the focus on the gameplay. Same for the music, it's very thoughtful.

falling flamingo by butterfly 2021-10-11T18:32:52Z

At first I was getting scores around 28 to 30 seconds, and I read one of the comments that said they went up to ten minutes. At first I was like, "WTF?!" Then I took it as a challenge. After a few minutes it does get sort of tedious and boring (hint: use the poop mechanic to maintain balance). But I played this game for way longer than I thought I would, so kudos for that. I also enjoyed the cute interface and the flamingo factoids.

Jam Fall by StaticBits 2021-10-10T20:48:14Z

Great job, especially for a first game jam! I thought the mechanic was really clever and a good balance of panicky fun. Also, I don't think your art is horrible like you've said lol, it's actually very clear, colorful and communicates what's happening in the game very easily. I think if anything the background could be a little less busy. I like the different difficulty levels a lot.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Breakfast Time in Dream Land by rjhelms 2022-04-17T14:46:48Z

I clicked on this because it sort of reminded me of the Little Nemo comics for some reason. What a delightful little shoot-em-up! The game works really well, no bugs and the controls are smooth. I thought the difficulty ramped up at a good pace too. It did get a little easy once I figured out you could just hold shift and zig-zag up and down -- I made it to about wave 20 before I decided I'd had enough. All of the character designs and the music are really charming and fun! I was impressed with the amount of polish. Nice job on this.

A duck on ice by jk5000 2022-04-09T13:26:17Z

Really cool concept. I like how the narration is affected by what's happening in the game -- I exploded the duck on purpose so I could hear how that narration was interjected into the story. I also adore the animation of the duck's feet rotating around the wheels.

Life's the Wurst by jimmothysanchez 2022-04-09T13:01:46Z

The title alone is 10/10 GOTY. I adore the model of the hungry overlord with the fork and knife and the wriggling hot dog physics were totally cracking me up. I did find some spots I could camp out in and avoid the enemies pretty easily but for me it's all the little details, like the hot dog's spinning propeller hat, that make this game hilariously fun.

Roadside Dinosaur Demolition by uvwar 2022-04-09T12:48:26Z

An alternative to the Jenga-esque gameplay you're suggesting is to try and knock the dinosaurs' legs out as fast as possible and watch them topple over. Repeat ad infinitum. I'm sure this is how the dinosaurs went extinct.

Loyal Prisoner by RalfZ 2022-04-09T12:41:11Z

I stayed in prison for 62 days. I wonder what other people's scores were?

I'm definitely a fan of this sort of time management/simulation game. Because the fight has a little bit of RNG thrown in, there's a balance between strategy and randomness that gives it some nice variation. I laughed when the other commenter mentioned that the music was too cheery, they're definitely right  but the music was cute and good. Nice job

The Last Knight by Yeti Kid 2022-04-17T15:10:26Z

Jams are awesome for trying out new tools and techniques. I'm glad you tried out 3D because this was a fun take on this sort of tower defense / shoot em up. The fact that you encorporated a day/night cycle was really impressive. I did encounter a bug around day 4 where a healthbox got stuck and caused my character to stop moving (see pic). But overall I was really charmed by the art style and the controls worked well. Nice work!

The voice acting cracked me up. A video tutorial would definitely be useful, not only to teach people boolean addition, but to explain the interface a little better. I found myself wishing there was an untimed practice mode too. Nice graphics and the sense of urgency you get from the voice acting / flickering lights is nice. Interesting game!

A Last Stand by RustyMonky 2022-04-09T13:57:05Z

Fun game with a lot of polish. I love the combination of action + tower defense. The music and graphics are also themed really well. I guess my only complaint is that once you get to wave 9 or so, it becomes almost impossible to lose, unless you get hit by one of your own arrows. The decision to allow friendly fire (dying by your own traps) is an interesting one. I thought the difficulty ramped up at a nice pace too. Overall this is a great game!

You're looking at the new "+1000 Food" champ here. :trophy: The login/high score feature is above and beyond for a compo jam, I just want to say I'm majorly impressed with that. It could have the same sort of viral appeal as games like Wordle if it had a little more polish. Some simple CSS styling would go a long way. But there are some simple things like the timer bar and rising musical tones that create a sense of intensity and fun. Great game!

You got me to click on your game just based on the title alone. :P The concept is really unique, I'm seeing it as a neat crossover between a resource management game and a card game. The audio and voiceover are obviously a highlight, and the writing is really funny too. I thought the game felt really balanced, even if I only made it to week 10. Nice job!

Trash Panic! by Defrag 2022-04-17T15:31:35Z

First off, the audio is AMAZING. It gets so hectic late-game and I was just laughing at the KA-DONKs and messing up a lot. So fun. I also found that clicking was easier for me than keyboard controls. The feeling of inevitability is absolutely there, so great job with the theme. I thought the physics worked really nicely too. I processed 131 pieces of trash.

SURVIVE! by Ben Sanby 2022-04-17T14:38:01Z

I like the graphics! They're unique and the monster designs are interesting. I agree with the others though, it was hard to tell whether you were attacking or being attacked, so some feedback there would be useful. For example, if the character could swing the weapon so you could see what the hitbox would be, or if the character said "ow!" when attacked. I eventually got the spear and killed a rabbit but as the theme says, death was inevitable for me. :)

Wait For It ! by Forgin Bits 2022-04-09T14:08:35Z

Superb game! There's so much replayability which you don't normally find in jam games. Even though the gameplay is very similar to WarioWare there's a lot of uniqueness in the graphics style, the story, and the music. I thought the difficulty ramped up at a nice pace too.

Over the Rainbow Bridge by Iguanana 2022-04-09T13:14:00Z

Omg, you're going to make me cry. I love how the story is told from the dog's perspective. The color palette, the dithered gradients, and the somber music all contribute to a great sense of mood. I only wished it was longer, or that the gameplay had more impact on the narrative / gave you different endings. Nice game

Venting Machine by EmberUshi 2022-04-09T13:32:36Z

591m! :) I definitely didn't understand what I was doing the first time but once I figured out it was a launcher style game I got super excited. The concept, taking your frustrations out on a faulty vending machine, is really clever. I love the very 80s/early computer color palette too. Overall stylish and fun, great job!

Digital Pet by the3rdHunter 2022-04-17T15:02:28Z

Played this for a lot longer than I thought I would. First off, I love the minimalist aesthetic. It goes to show that you can pursue an interesting style in a jam without having to do really time-consuming intricate artwork. I love the idea of a virtual pet right off the bat, and combining it with the clicker genre is like, :chef's kiss: for me. Like the others say, maybe some feedback is in order for how long it might take to get to the next stage of evolution, and obviously some sound and music would make the idle time go by a little faster, but what you've got is a really interesting and addictive game. Nice work!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

TchouTchou: the game by sebbernery 2022-10-03T19:19:26Z

It's a little confusing at first but I love resource management games so I was determined to figure it out. The lag time between when the trains arrive and depart from each of the destinations is probably the hardest thing to grasp, since it's told through timers and little graphics that are all hard to track once a lot of stuff starts happening. But it's possible! Second, I think maybe the cities' food counter doesn't update when you deliver food? But aside from a few bugs this is really nicely executed, the theme of having trains depart every 10 seconds was a really fun one. I enjoyed playing it.

autoball by torcado 2022-10-03T18:36:29Z

Gosh, what a lovely game! What I love most is how simple and easy the interface is to use. It doesn't need a tutorial or even descriptive language to immediately jump into the game and start having fun. My best is about round 30. I'm mega impressed by the other commenters here getting huge scores, I guess I need more practice! Good thing it is super addictive in fun. Admittedly I am playing it during a Zoom meeting...

Office, Time loop and The End of the World by zimennik 2022-10-21T15:25:48Z

Ahhhhh I did it!! I won!! It's really difficult but once I learned that certain things carry over into the next run (i.e. you only have to talk to each character once) it finally clicked for me and I figured out how to win. Funny writing and catchy music too. Honestly this was one of my favorite LD games, I love the puzzle-game-under-fire experience.

Type Traveler by foolmoron 2022-10-03T01:13:42Z

Very juicy. This game does a lot with just shapes and colors and some smart design choices. I like that the difficulty depends on whether you want to go fast and increase your multiplier or keep it slow and steady to avoid mistakes. Sometimes the keys are in an odd arrangement but the variety makes if fun. My high score so far is 2069M B.C. or 64 quadrillion seconds (I think I'm reading that right). Great game!

Rain Systems by thebmxeur 2022-10-03T21:01:49Z

This is easily one of the most obtuse games I've ever seen on LD but I was determined to figure it out. Writing commands down on a piece of paper, I got the correct checksum value eventually but I didn't know what to do after that. Even with turbo turned off the rebooting is really throwing me for a loop, I don't think I have the patience to figure it out. Sorry. I love the concept though.

BOMBA LINE by lonewookie 2022-10-21T15:30:06Z

Great spin on a classic game. The sprites are cute too. I made it to 30 points but it was pretty challenging! Some music or sound effects would help the player understand when the timer is about to run out, but everything else was really intuitive.

It's all in a day by ruthiepee 2022-10-03T14:15:51Z

@rein Maybe that's a feature. Maybe there's some metaphor there, that you have to take time in the morning to get ready before you can put your nose to the grind. JK, you are right of course, it would be better that way.

@mcnuttys Totally agree. Given more time, I would have implemented better feedback throughout the game overall -- sound, animation, etc. to show what actions and consequences are taking place. That was the original intention with the art but the scope was probably too big for me to finish in compo. Thanks for playing. :)

The Lure of Treasure Whisper Island by GameDevZach 2022-10-03T01:38:49Z

Love the voice acting! The song at the beginning definitely gave me a laugh. Really unique concept -- I don't think I've ever seen the warmer/colder game brought to life in a video game! The game itself is pretty tough but with a little patience I found 2 treasures. It's funny to me -- with some of the LD games, 10 seconds seems like a short amount of time. But in this game 10 seconds feels pretty long. Thanks for stretching my perception of time.

Sheeple by Jonathan Holm 2022-10-03T18:43:30Z

Yay, a Pico8 game! The storytelling along the bottom really adds to the ambiance. The animation and visual feedback are really nice. Of course like you said I'm not really getting how the theme ties into it but regardless it's a nice little game.

PS: Did you opt out of ratings? It's not letting me rate your game. I think it might need to go in the 'Extra' category if you don't want people to rate it?

Pet the Damn Cat! by Deprecat 2022-10-03T20:24:55Z

I won!! The art is really polished and lovely. I love this unique spin on the time management genre. The controls and interface are super intuitive to just pick up and play without needing to read too much, so kudos for that. The game also feels really balanced and the music is relaxing and nice. Great job all around.

The 10 Seconds Game by wormius 2022-10-21T15:37:58Z

Hilarious. Definitely reminds of me those old 'click the button' flash games too. I couldn't click P L A Y while it was moving (level 8), too difficult for me even with cheating. I actually liked the basic-ness of the graphics, it really reinforced the idea that this is a game based on funny JS/CSS stuff.

Channel Flipper by Knipsch 2022-10-03T18:57:42Z

I looove the concept of flipping channels. Really smart idea, though creating multiple mini games during a game jam can prove pretty challenging. The variety in the music and artwork is great. And the shark with the mechanical legs really made me laugh. I kept getting stuck on this one till I looked at your screenshots and realized that the buttons aren't rendering when I play it. Just wanted to let you know.

After a couple of playthroughs I managed to find a crystal or two. I really like the look of this game, even if the gameplay feels a little unbalanced by being too random. The pixel art and glowing effect are really charming.

Connect Four, But Every 10 Seconds the Colors Swap by dalyons 2022-10-03T18:50:43Z

Interesting concept, but I feel like it needs a little bit more feedback to help players understand when the pieces are changing colors, like a sound effect or something. Also a restart button would be cool. :)

PS: With a bit of effort I was able to figure out how to download the game, but to make it easier for other players, you should package up your Windows executable files separately from your source code and upload them to the LD site.

LD53 — Delivery

Air Delivery by LeviDSmith 2023-05-19T17:12:41Z

This is one of those very straightforward games you can pick up and immediately start having fun playing. I like that the balloons have different AI, it gives it more variety and makes it more replayable. It's pretty easy at first but gets difficult. Also, who is releasing all these evil balloons?! I feel like there is a villain origin story to be told about the balloons... ;)

Nuclear Hammer by ciderpunk 2023-05-19T16:04:26Z

Fun and funny physics-based game. I thought the controls were simple and well-implemented. The gameplay itself is a little easy but it's fun to make all the kids wobble around nonetheless. I think with some audio, this would be an especially fun game for kids to play.

Tiler's Trucking Co by Aggrathon 2023-05-19T16:32:33Z

Fun road builder game. I am really impressed with how much you were able to do in Compo! Like others have said it's a little frustrating not to see the tiles in the queue, but that's what the reset button is for. My only critique is that the music absolutely BLASTED me when I first turned it on, haha

Package Chaos by GlacierEclipse 2023-05-19T15:25:19Z

I think you've received a lot of great feedback here so I won't elaborate much. I will say it's not exactly clear what the different upgrades do, but it's fun to learn through trial and error. I really love this sim style of game so I really enjoyed it!

Deliver Before Dark by demogorgon 2023-05-19T17:27:41Z

This game is WILD. I love how many different choices you can make in order to optimize the deliveries.

Caretaker of the Scrap-Valley by fusionnist 2023-05-19T15:32:01Z

Very impressive scope for a compo game! I love the sense of mystery and discovery. It sounds simple but the keyboard controls are set up really nicely and intuitively. Crafting feels really good too. I'm excited to keep exploring this game!

Fine I'll Do It Myself by axelrinaldo 2023-05-19T16:57:19Z

I love this concept. It's enough fun to just fling the box around. I basically did level 1 in one long shot and tried to do the same on level 2 when I realized it wasn't going to be that easy. Wish it had another level or two, I enjoyed it!

Neighborhood Postal Service by Paul Nadan 2023-05-19T17:44:15Z

OMG, when I got the zoom-out feature, it felt soooo incredible! The pathing and employee AI are really well done. This is one of my favorite LD53 games so far. I didn't realize you could upgrade the roads and get to the third level of zoom until I read some comments but I'm glad I did. This game is huuuuuge!

Witch Night Delivery Service by rhewid 2023-05-19T15:39:30Z

Cute and fun to play! The tutorialization and wayfinding are really good, especially for a compo game. Easy to use controls and the mechanics are explained really well. I have no critiques!

Contraband Crackdown by PurpledArtFrog 2023-05-19T16:13:39Z

Really cute sprite work, this game looks amazing. The concept is really fun but I did end up mashing the spacebar for the better part of the game. It's frantic but manageable, which is good. I guess my main critique is it seems like the game is missing a little bit of feedback on whether you've successfully used the baton or hit something with it. But I really enjoyed progressing through the ranks!

Postage Simulator by NotGeorge 2023-05-19T16:59:19Z

I like the concept but I also had problems with the drag and drop functionality. I do like how the chutes switch around, it adds a nice extra challenge.

Memory fun by Helen 2023-05-19T15:41:51Z

First of all, congrats on your newborn. :) This is a lovely little game, straightforward and fun. It's subtle but the way the difficulty ramps up over time is really well done. I went into it thinking it'd be easy but the last level was really challenging.

liver by Duncan 3 2023-05-19T17:33:07Z

I got all the livers! (I think.) I actually really like the enemies' follow pattern, there's something there.

Brunnen by Nawreua 2023-05-19T17:22:00Z

I would like a little more explanation of the controls, I couldn't get the hang of flying either?

Strange Supplying by Mrtubagames 2023-05-19T16:26:40Z

Why are these people's lawns so dangerous? :') Fun concept, I love the idea of a game made specifically for speed runs. I was surprised at the variety of levels and difficulties. I don't know how I feel about having to get to the house and then back to the truck, the backtracking is not particularly interesting, but it makes sense story-wise obviously. Nice work

Rutabaga Rocket by Alex Garbus 2023-05-19T17:07:23Z

Omg, I had to play this one just based on the thumbnail alone. I like the fast pace, it makes it feel more exciting, but it does make it feel a little twitchy/difficult. I really loved the mechanic of the rutabaga rockets, and the tutorial nicely scaffolded teaching the player how to use them. The checkpoints are a nice touch, they make the game a lot more forgiving. The music is super loud on my headphones but that's my only complaint. Super cute sprite work!

Unconventional Delivery by Mistafixxa069 2023-05-19T16:44:34Z

Definitely has a little bit of a learning curve, but it's fun once you figure out the controls. The scrollwheel doesn't work especially well in the browser version since it scrolls the page at the same time, so I would suggest a different button (like the arrow keys or tab) for that. But I really did like the designs of the puzzles, it teaches you mew mechanics as the game goes along which is a nice touch.

A very ini tiny mini mail turtle game by Boeruchan 2023-05-19T16:17:09Z

Cute art, easy to start playing. I think others gave you a fair critique of how short/easy the game is so I'll just point out how nice it is to play a game that is intuitive and not stressful to play.

Eggo by Senso 2023-05-19T16:20:29Z

Fun and really engaging platformer! My favorite part is how naturally the tutorial fits in with the gameplay. There are lots of nice little touches like particles, trails, and nice audio feedback when jumping and interacting. The timer makes it pretty challenging but I managed to do it. :)

Brew Master by 1Mo 2023-05-19T17:19:55Z

Yay, a simulation game! It's a little hard to figure out what to do at first. But sometimes the right answer is just sitting back and watching the number tick up for a little bit. Some audio feedback or more instructions would help. The interface is nice, it's all clearly readable and easy to use.

Frantic Folding by J4cko16 2023-05-19T16:23:17Z

Getting past 12 was pretty hard, I don't know how people are getting past 30, LOL. I love this frantic and quick game. I noticed there's no penalty for hitting the wrong key but it didn't seem to help me, I'm still too slow :')

Frantic Folding by J4cko16 2023-05-19T17:45:45Z

LOL I see... why didn't I think of that? Thanks @paveldlouhy

13Hour Shift - Idle Game by ScriptMage 2023-05-19T18:05:48Z

Yaaaay, I love idle games! I'm letting it run while I write this review. :) I like how the upgrades add little visual details like the flag on the bike. Otherwise many of the mechanics are pretty standard to other idle games, just with a bicycle delivery twist. It's very addictive and I'm excited to see what upgrades are next in my queue. Great work!

Lexicon by John Kisner 2023-05-19T17:59:24Z

I love this concept so much. Even if it is a little too unforgiving at times, the excitement of getting a word right and the wonderful art and sound design (seriously the sound design is amazing) is enough to keep you wanting to get to the next part of the story. The main mechanic of drawing the words using the moving line is really well executed. Great teamwork

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

A Taste for Nuts by M2tias 2024-10-21T12:55:42Z

I'm glad I stuck around because it is a really fun game once you get past the teeny-tiny tutorial text. I'm so impressed with the scope of this game for compo -- there are a lot of mechanics and fine details that I never would have been able to accomplish in 48 hours. 😅

Very lovely sprites and music. The game gets a little tedious once the berries/sticks get further away but it's still satisfying to manage all your mice at once.

TIP: If you can't select the mice because they're overlapping, you can select just one by clicking their icon in the status bar on the left.

Beetle Brigade by bentglasstube 2024-10-15T14:13:52Z

This is the most polished compo game I've seen this LD. Very beautifully executed -- I especially like the fonts and would love to know what they are if you're willing to share. :) I am really bad at these types of games so I wish you could configure the board and then press play on the ladybugs but I guess that takes away the challenge haha

Pest Quest by ruthiepee 2024-10-21T12:59:10Z

@mrspeaker Thanks for the detailed bug report (no pun intended). The web viewer is a bit of a mystery to me because the documentation isn't very detailed, but I'll try to figure it out.

Tiny followers by PatBGames 2024-10-13T23:14:48Z

Watching the little critters bounce behind you is very cute. Fun and unique mechanics!

Those Darn Nanobot AI Will Be The End of Us All by mrspeaker 2024-10-13T23:08:11Z

Oh my god this is my favorite art style I've seen in compo so far. A+++ would play again just for that. I got 5692 (it's really hard with a laptop touchpad). Once you get into a flow state it feels like a rhythm game and gets really fun.

Buzzy Hill by Klaus Peter 2024-10-13T23:26:23Z

Stressful but definitely a doable challenge! Reminds me of playing SimAnt as a kid. :) At one point I hit a bug (no pun intended) where I wasn't able to interact with anything anymore so I didn't get to finish the game, but I got two ants!! The gameplay is fairly complex but you did a good job explaining it in an intuitive way, so nice job on that.

Shrimp Tank Simulator by Harmadillo 2024-10-13T22:23:51Z

I had to click this one as soon as I saw the thumbnail. Love a sim game. These kinds of games are really hard to make on such a short deadline due to having to make lots of UI and balance the mechanics, but I think you did a great job. It's a fun challenge (albeit a hard one) to figure out the right balance to maintain the blue and green shrimps. The magnifying glass is a fun little bonus.

Carnivorous Corpse Aquarium : Feed & Thrive by Adrien Tremblay 2024-10-21T02:01:34Z

Morbid fish tank simulator, I like it. I definitely messed up the first couple of tries and had to refresh the page to start over, but I got the hang of it eventually. Fun learning curve.

My Little Friends by Turaku 2024-10-13T23:00:47Z

Sure, you can spam 'work' and then 'apple' and pretty much never have to worry about the life and health of your little guys. But the egg animation is so cute!!! Well done on all the pixel art

Shrimpy by Kultuk 2024-10-13T22:04:14Z

Fun! I like how forgiving the platforms are since they get narrower toward the bottom, that's a nice design consideration. I did however reach a point where the platforms were simply too far apart to jump up to.

Tiny Legion by Pedryx 2024-10-13T22:53:56Z

Very ambitious autobattler with a breeding mechanic! It's definitely tough to get all of these things done during such a short jam: programming the random mutations, designing the UI, balancing the special abilities, the battle mechanics, the battle simulation, etc. So yeah, the interface could use a little bit better feedback and clarity but I'm really amazed at what you were able to create in the jam! I got to level 5 or so before it got too tough.

Final Harvest by Teatoon 2024-10-13T23:16:37Z

Couldn't get the Mac app to open. Idk if it's just me or what. I'll try the Windows version later because the thumbnails just look so intriguing

Blendimals by Helagos 2024-10-13T22:36:19Z

Unique concept. It was fun to see what colors you could get by merging. If you're familiar with RGB color mixing it makes sense. However I never did figure out what the numbers below the creatures meant.

Dust in a ray of sunshine by ILDr82 2024-10-13T22:06:59Z

The abstractness gives it a relaxing vibe. The mechanics are pretty simplistic but I didn't mind, it's fun to just watch the orbs bounce around.

LD57 — Depths

Pits and Bricks by jimmothysanchez 2025-04-08T20:37:40Z

Ooooh I love this twist on breakout, it's like tower defense X pong. Anyway I'm kind of obsessed with this game. It's fun to experiment with different strategies. Spamming brick makers is obviously the most fun. But winning on sheer luck is fun too, LOL. I was kind of wishing hard mode would be faster as well but it has a great frenetic pace and looks beautiful too. Awesome work

5K to Mars by ruthiepee 2025-04-08T14:11:26Z

@jimmothysanchez thanks for the review! Yes, the puzzles are procedurally generated. Our programmer, Billy, is a logic wizard. We're working on some bug fixes today so come back and play it again soon. :rocket:

Little Delver by Andreadbx 2025-04-09T00:08:29Z

Very ambitious game with pro-level graphics and sound design. I loved the atmosphere of the mine! The controls are a bit "floaty" and I struggled to navigate back to the base before my battery ran out. Also I think there is a bug: once, my character's battery pack got stuck on "96%" yet I was getting the low battery warnings and eventually ran out of juice. I really like the hookshot method for movement, it's very satisfying. Nice work

Cinderseed by val.ociraptor 2025-04-09T00:35:10Z

What a lovely experience!! Obviously anyone with eyeballs can tell that the graphics are 5-star worthy but there are so many nice things going on under the surface too. The subtle foley of the can opening, the gas pouring, etc. is brilliant, and the way the music speeds up and the screen shakes as you start running out of time adds a lot of thrill to it.

The ending is so good!!! lmfao

Turtles All The Way Down by VerttiXPertti 2025-04-08T23:51:26Z

I wanted to be on the leaderboard so bad since you see it every time you lose. The best I could do was about 15m however. Rage-inducing is the right word for it, haha. The controls took me a while to get the hang of since I think I was expecting the turtle to move toward the mouse rather than away from it (I think)? And also because you have to keep moving the mouse around to change the angle, but the angle changes depending on the turtle's position. Too much for my brain but I could see some gamers really getting into this on Twitch.

Nailed It! by Rachenite 2025-04-09T00:40:30Z

Awww yeah, I got the good ending! Badass music, I would love to buy it on Bandcamp or something and do some home renovation. :hammer: The hammer is such an awesome character design too. Like the other commenters here, I also want to play more Nailed It!!

Falling by ayuv 2025-04-08T23:57:06Z

Interesting twist on the endless runner genre! I love the character design, it's sort of minimal but very expressive. And the UI is also very clean looking. As for the gameplay itself, I think I'm too tired from jamming all weekend to really get good at playing a game in reverse perspective. Very disorienting but a fun and unique concept.

Light - Ludum Dare 57 by based.on.life 2025-04-08T23:43:03Z

Very clever game mechanic, floating downward on an anchor. I can't say I've played a game like this before! The dark and eerie mood is super immersive with the spooky voice acting, lighting effects, and ambient background music. I guess I'm not fast enough to grab the light though because I keep dying haha. Would be nice to have a little more feedback on the length of time you have after collecting a light orb. Great game

Kani Kani Te by foolmoron 2026-04-22T01:53:16Z

This is an absolutely wild experience, lol. The camera tracking is amazing -- I love the visualization in the corner that shows exactly what's being input. How that moves the crab is a greater mystery (are you sure this game is winnable?) but I certainly had fun!

In the Crib by ruthiepee 2026-05-02T11:01:23Z

@gamayun-games you did it!! this made my day. <3 congrats on winning and becoming a new mom, it's simply the best!

Signal Circuits by Alex Mulkerrin 2026-05-02T11:20:54Z

Very cool, really nailed the 1990s shareware vibe. The interface really encourages the user to experiment with all the different tools available and discover how they work without you having to explain it in a tutorial, so I really liked that. The scaffolding (progressively getting more difficult over time) was nicely done too. I definitely don't have the patience for the later levels but I love seeing other folks' attempts in the comments.

Hoist the Flag! by oller125 2026-04-22T01:01:47Z

Clever concept. I managed to beat the first level (I played on a touchscreen so it made it less challenging). Dunno if it has great replay value but it is a unique idea and has great music! Nice job.

Chatos Control by Frogravity 2026-04-22T01:31:04Z

Fantastic idea and really well executed! The puzzle design is so clever, especially for a game jam. I'm impressed by how many endings are and the UI is so cute. Great work

Blackboard Eraser Arcade by Loig 2026-05-02T11:09:17Z

Very easy to learn and play. The audio is a nice touch because it helped me remember which tone was which. I kinda think the timer should be longer (or maybe there's an untimed mode for noobs like me) but overall I really loved this unique puzzle game!

Panik's Trip by Teto 2026-05-03T15:18:33Z

This is so fantastic. The main game loop is really fun and the graphics set the mood perfectly.

Wow, excellent puzzle design, especially for a game jam! The difficulty really ramps up fast at level 4 haha. I think I'm a bit too sleepy to figure it out, haha. Very cute sound design too.

My top score is embarrassing compared to the other folks in the comments. But yeah, wow, this is a really polished jam game and it's actually fun to boot. There's lots of fun to discover with the powerups and different enemy types and I feel like the speed scaled nicely. Amazing work!

Great interface design, easy to understand how to play and fun to listen to the radio for clues. As a New Yorker I had to play this one. :) I have to say I really liked having the voices, it made the zombie apocalypse feel more real.

Lol, I love seeing all the competition in the comments. I got 163 which I thought was pretty good but apparently not. The UI is definitely a little convoluted but once you click a few things and see the feedback of the number going up/down it starts to make sense. I had fun!

Without Brakes by Shernik 2026-04-22T00:44:53Z

Fun gameplay and it gets pretty challenging too. The dithered effect is very cool. For me the controls were A&D not A&B like your instructions say but maybe that's for a controller? Nice job

Interesting idea but I think it needs a little bit more instructions. Steering the boat around feels nice though. Congrats on your first LD!

Cell Clicker by Floonace 2026-05-02T11:31:57Z

A very ambitious incremental game. Definitely had some issues with the game freezing/lagging (I think after the wound disappeared?). Based on my experience and the other comments here I think you just need to write more explicitly on this page "click on the SUN to generate power" because otherwise it just looks like part of the interface / not interactive.

I managed to get 400 but I think I just got insanely lucky with a 1-shot at the last second haha. The sound effects and music are the best part!
