This was cool! I like the voice sfx and the silly graphics. It seems to get too fast when you get near the end, but nice job!
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD40 → Danmaku Burp

Fun game. I like shooter games like this.
The art of making games is not just about coding skills and the graphics. You have to know how to balance your game (that's something i'm struggling a lot with aswell). I think the difficulty level goes up way too quickly and this game thought me to think more about how to balance games. Thanks :)
Well done!
fun concept. Interesting idea
Lol, best I could do was 11000. The hand-drawn graphics and the home-made SFX were really funny. I like the concept but agree with @darkgrisen that the game could have been balanced better. Oh, and the player character can go off the screen sometimes. But overall well done!
Challenging game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlEs2Zt4em8

The sounds, the artstyle, the concept... hilarious
Good job man, made my day
Pretty cool! Those sound effects created a special new layer of fun in the game and I loved it! The only game design reflection I would bring here is; I do need to press space bar to shoot, but there is no reason not to do it, which makes shooting all the time a significant advantage for just spamming space, basically creating an input that has no interesting choices within. Overall, solid game! :)
Thanks for the very detailed feedback @lukbebalduke ; the fact that you need to not fire and let some burger pass is too unintuitive and not many players get it ( if at all ) ! That is my main takeaway ; I like niche danmaku games but most people are not used to their concepts :) Ideally I want to continue but it needs a neo geo like tutorial.
It was cool, I make 41000 on my first try, little bug when you loose and retry you keep the scoring of the last game.
I think it missing a dash to create a little maingame.
Gameplay and mechanics are quite solid. Graphics and sound effects make it one of a kind! Balancing between shooting the enemies and avoiding the bullets (and food) was interesting. Overall, great game and always nice with menu and death scene.
@maximebou good suggestion on expanding gameplay, a bomb or some other mechanism to influence rank, or maybe scratching?
haha i liked the sounds. This was a funny game. Nice work.
Fun! I haven't played a shoot-em-up yet this LD, and this was a good silly one. I like the simple childlike graphics and sfx. Only complaint I have is I found it hard to see the enemy projectiles over food and my own shots. It'd be nice if they were always on top. I can imagine this with some silly, funky music and it being a very complete fun game. Good work.
Thanks for the very precise feedback @fluidvolt ! I noted the fact the bullets should be on top but somehow forgot since sunday :) Testing the ( forthcoming ) mobile version of the game, I find it really difficult on a small screen because hitbox is not visible !!!!!! Definitely too hard when the rank rises .
Interesting take on the theme. Liked the manmade sound effects. Good job!
Couldn't actually finished, tried 10+ times. The powerup is too big, and I still don't understand why wouldn't I just ignore it at all? It doesn't really helps (everyone is insta-killed, except for the boss, and the points are counted mostly off-screen), more like harms the player. Why do you encourage the player to go up the ranks?
Kudos for the sound, I couldn't stop laughing.
What a hitbox ! Interesting concept, but the graphics ... You could make an effort x) It lacks music, and the sounds fit well with the graphics in one way, so that is ok.
Keep coding.
Pretty spot on @mathiouza, I lost my definitive art in the last hours of the contest, but it was still in this style :p Also when I play it on the mobile port , the hitbox really shocks me yes; it didn't seem that hard when I was playtesting me during LD, a good lesson !
@zinkler actually the concept I was trying to pass on is like gunbird 2 or battle garegga, you think everything is fine, but you blow the rank, and ultimately it makes the game impossible. It definitely is not intuitive/communicative enough with the feedback I got. ( thinking of a neo geo style tutorial, or more audio visual cues, like a pinball message scroll above the game area )
Great One! The Graphics and the great sounds have made my day!
Welp, I guess I'll have to leave this game ungraded, because it runs at something like 300fps for me. I don't use vsync on my PC, which this game relies on for the FPS limiting.
Hi , this is base love2D behavior ( the vsync thing ); catering for both vsync and non vsync is not easy , I am not sure you can do some frame limiting that doesn't go crazy if vsync enabled ( tried in the past -)
I love a good SHMUP and you made a funny and fun variant on the genre, great job!
My favorite parts are the whimsical graphics and sound effects that add a lot of charm to your game. I wish the player character would move a bit faster and that the *frantic bar* wouldn't overlap with the character.
One bug I found was that the score does not reset when the game is restarted.
This kind of game make me realize that I have feet instead of hands. I'm too bad.
Great job btw
