So simple and yet my favourite so far. Easy to play, great art and sound.
Unusual but I liked it. I was confused at first but that's my fault for not reading the description.
I really wanted to enjoy this because it is well finished off but I found it frustrating to play. I may just be bad but it felt like some of the gaps to jump were annoyingly difficult as opposed to enjoyably difficult, if that makes sense? That being said, fantastic art.
This is really great work for such a short time, good amount of content.
I had no idea what I was supposed to do, I clicked the cup and the game crashed and wouldn't launch again. I'd recommend some more description for how to play. That being said you've made it in C and other people seem to have been able to play, making something in C from scratch is no small feat so well done.
@thebmxeur I managed to play it again and it is pretty cool. Interesting little story that leaves you with a bunch of questions. Nice work. Also the failure to relaunch appears to have been on my end as you speculated.
This may have been pretty simple but I really enjoyed this, impressed with the scaling mechanics and deformation too.
Love this original idea. Great concept. Really liked the sound too.
I really enjoyed this and the pacing at which the cards change. Really solid game.
5 stars for mood for me. This made me smile!
Simple but fun. I did find it a little difficult but that may just be that I suck.
Good sound design on this. Very simple but well delivered. Got a little tedious with how hard some of the lower tiles are to break. An upgrade system would definitely improve that.
Cool puzzle game, took me a little while to figure out what those on the right represent but solid work.
Wasn't able to play unfortunately, loading stalls at the end. Might wanna take a look to fix it.
Love it. Really solid work bud, gives a great atmosphere. Only thing I noticed was the collision bounding seems to either be too big or not rotate with the player.
@james-gillespie It seemed that when I was rotated the round, pink obstacles would still make contact with the ship even when it appeared to be a reasonable distance away.
I really enjoyed this, feels quite solid. It did take me a sec to realise I was the tiny sub and not the boat.
Really impressed by this, unique concept and really well implemented. Great job!
Very simple but completely solid end result. That's always important.
One of the better text adventures and you've clearly put the effort in.
Nice entry, I love a good fishing game. It would probably benefit from separating the shop from each catch, it becomes kinda annoying when it pops up even when you can't afford anything. Nice work though.
Might not be much of a game but damn there is something cool about this entry. Really great work on the room and the walls pulling away.
Great game, nice and simple but relaxing to play. I did find the controls somewhat unnatural though.
I loved this, completely unique.
@madelfino Thanks for highlighting it, I believe I know the cause. I found an issue last minute before submission and put in a quick work around by manually placing a dummy object but the work around will only work on relaunch rather than restart. An oversight on my part. Glad you enjoyed it though, if I hadn't wasted 12 hours messing with the auto generation I had a lot more ideas to implement. Maybe in the future.
@machrom Yeah, that was something I was going to go back to but ran out of time. Thanks for playing!
@twowolf Does this occur randomly after restart or immediately?
@twowolf Thanks, I believe it is fixed now. Thanks for the help.
@afroant I'm guessing you had quite a few ants :') I originally started out trying to make nice clean optimised path finding and generating... Then I looked at the clock and next thing you know every single tile and is being checked every frame.
@chris-delta Thanks for the awesome detailed feedback. You're absolutely spot on. I was way too ambitious with my original idea and ended up wasting tons of time with path finding and enemy tunnel generation. I also realised the soft-lock issue right before submission but was so sick of staring at my disgusting code I couldn't face going back in.
@ancooper Strange, I'd not encountered that, it could be that they are trying to focus a single enemy soldier that isn't accessible or visible as the graphics do all kinda blend together unfortunately. For the most part it's just a case of building a tunnel to the enemy queen and they should attack eventually.
@slimabob Thanks, I appreciate the feedback!
@lone-wolf thanks for playing! The FPS drops really bad eventually, due to the short time the pathfinding and auto generation had to be hacked together in the most inefficient way imaginable.
@retrome yeah, sorry about that, when you run out of materials for barracks it defaulted to the blueprint for some reason. It was a little bit of an oversight honestly, i only threw in the building last minute.
@jimbly Thanks for the feedback bud, I am planning to start work on a post compo version built from the ground up with the intention of supporting multiplayer, so everyone's feedback helps.
@bereg Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it. I've already started on rebuilding it from the ground up with the intention of hopefully bringing a fully fleshed out end product to life.
The link says the game is unavailable currently? Not sure if you're aware.
Anyone using low level programming for LD48 deserves a pat on the back. Great work on this.
I don't know if I was reaching the end of certain dialogue lines or the game experiencing a bug but several options seemed not to progress any further.
Super simple but still pretty solid, although the giant crab pinned me in a corner and I couldn't do anything about it.
This is absolutely one of the most solid games I've played yet. You need to get rating some games so more people see yours because it deserves to be seen.
This was the most solid game I've played so far. One of my favourites and played the longest. Just simply all round really good job on this. Huge potential as a mobile game.
I had a surprising amount of fun playing this.
I actually quite enjoyed this despite the simplicity.
The gameplay for this is good, would definitely benefited from a restart option.
I really struggled with the first boss, having a health pool rather than a single hit might have been an improvement.
Really great graphics, some solid pixel art going on here. Nice entry.
This is a really good entry all round. Simple but nice graphics and sound. You need to get rating some games so more people see this.
Same for me as others have said the link appears to be incorrect.
Always nice to see story driven games in LD48. Nice work.
Adding yourselves was a nice little touch.
Very simple but solid implementation. I did find it a little slow going but I really love these clicker type games and this was well made.
This is really well made but I definitely think it was a little too difficult. The bouncing from the rocks is basically a death sentence.
This was great. Really enjoyed this and it has great replay ability. A little graphic to show the order of tools while playing would be a huge improvement. Get this on mobile app stores ASAP.
Really great graphics. I liked the pipe content and running against a clock. Nice job.
Really tough game but I loved trying to slingshot myself around the sun.
You get one of my highest ratings so far, I really liked your take on the theme. While the game is very simple you have absolutely polished the aspects that you have included and worked to a good scope. Really great job.
Good entry. I did find some of the controls a little uncomfortable however and a little confusing where I should be going.
Nice work with this. I did find it to be pretty random as to how to play and mine though.
I really enjoyed this, some nice graphics and a cool take on the theme that gives way to unique gameplay. Well done.
Really loved the pixel art, lighting, sound and voiceover. All round a really nice game.
I really enjoyed this although the claw mechanic felt kind of strange.
The link was broken unfortunately.
I really enjoyed this entry, one of my favourite so far. Nice BGM and really cool pixel art.
Simple but I really liked it. Would definitely benefit from being a bit faster paced.
Very simple but really solid. The jumping felt comfortable and the difficulty was decently balanced.
Congrats on your first game jam! There was a ton of 'game' here but it is a finished product. It has a start and a goal, and that is a great first step. Take this as a learning experience and work on your skills and you'll be able to produce much bigger things in the future. Best of luck!
Your link does not appear to work. #404
Fun and polished game. Nice work.
I really liked this, I just wish it had numpad controls. Would have felt a lot more natural.
First game I've rated and I loved it.
This felt really quite polished. Fun, super challenging, funny take on the theme. Solid all round! Should do well.
I found the controls a little backwards but was still a nice take on the theme. 81% fuel record!
Overall a super great entry, really enjoyed it!
I believe there is a problem with the way the game displays that stops players from getting past the title screen-
Could definitely be fleshed out into a mobile game, very interesting concept. Great way of teaching players too.
Really liked this, would have preferred having some kind of starting launch pad
Probably my favourite game so far
Super simple and yet really fun, this work!
Loved this. Gave me a chuckle while trying to pour the milk
One of the best entries so far!
Really tough but I really liked the idea controlling the whole world
Simple and well polished. Great first attempt at Jam!
Very nice looking, would have been a bit less frustrating if the aiming lined up correctly when not at a 90 degree angle
I completed it! Absolutely terrible score but I enjoyed this quite a bit
This was an amazing concept. Super unique and adds a really interesting dynamic to the game. Graphics are also fantastic. Seriously great game, well done.
This is really quite good, one thing that really spoiled it for me though was not being able to move to the tile you click and only the one nearest it. It felt like this may be a bug?
Love the art and the music.
Highly unusual sound design choices but a really decent game. Played it for a fair while.
Unusual but I really liked the concept here. Well implemented and has potential for a more fleshed out game. Great work.
Really great level of polish on this, fun and novel concept too.
Really great graphics, would have benefited from some minor balancing though. It is possible to just buy the first tower and continue to upgrade and spawn kill the enemies permanently.
This is by far my favourite so far. Gameplay was very reminiscent of Undertale, I wonder if that was an inspiration?
I really enjoyed this. Great music. Would have liked the timing to be clearer, maybe had the spacebar icon higher upon or more visible.
Really enjoyed this. Glad I am top of the leaderboards for now!
I really liked this. Would not have had the hose change direction with the cart though, it was quite annoying for the angle to flip. Nice entry though.
Tied for highest rated game all round for me. High level of polish, great graphics, audio and dark humour. Fantastic work, deserves to place pretty highly in a fair few categories and I think it will!
My highest rating so far. Can really tell the amount of effort your team has put into this. Great writing, real sense of mystery, the graphics were fantastic, felt very polished, loved that subtle hum of the monitor in the background. All around amazing entry. The team should be really proud of this.
Very solid entry, really quite liked it although the one major critique I would have is that the very minor colour contrast between floors/walls and playable area was a huge issue. Not sure if it was a conscious decision but would definitely have tried to make things clearer.
I really want to love this game, the concept is really well thought out but you're right about the RNG. I played quite a few games and it was physically impossible on the first turn. The "game" part of the the entry felt way too hard as well, but maybe I just suck. Overall this was still a really great entry, loved the card art.
Loved the artwork here.
The sense of utter helplessness as the toddlers slowly make their way to the poisonous mushrooms while you're trying to help another take a dump is hilarious.
Can tell a lot of effort went into this, very unique take on the theme with a cool mechanic. I could see this expanded into an actual casual, chill game that I would pay money for.
This felt very complete and well polished. Has a lot of potential for additional mechanics and challenges if you were to ever expand on it. Great work!
I like the concept, but wasn't too sure if I was playing correctly. Kept losing while trying to balance things.
Really love the art and SFX, good work on this.
I think this is probably my favourite entry so far. Very original, funny, well executed idea that actually made me want to play until the end. Great art and sound design too. Amazing work!
I didn't have romance simulator on the pad this morning, but here we are. Great work, made me laugh.
Blessed be the acorns.
I love the classic movement style. While simple, the game feels very complete and polished. Well done.
Enjoyed this quite a bit, good job. Felt very polished.
Simple but well made game. Felt polished, in particular that banger of a soundtrack!
I definitely misunderstood the goal originally though and collected as many items as possible XD
This caught me off guard with its simple mechanics initially, I expected there not to be much depth, but the restrictive was of playing really forces you into a bit of a memory puzzle game. Cool entry, nice job.
I predict a very high rating for your entry. Nailed every category here and the puzzles are actually a good difficulty and fun to play. Really enjoyed this, fantastic work all round.
Well put together entry, nice and simple but felt very complete, well executed on what you were going for. You clearly managed your time better than me XD. Really enjoyed the pixel art!
I wish I had more levels to collect more things! Great work with this.
Enjoyed the concept, SFX were cool but think I would have preferred without the music.
Always impressed to see someone going the extra (flight) mile and making a game using low level languages and tools. Loved the concept, great entry!
Cool concept and some fantastic art and sound design. Really enjoyed the Zen mode the most.
Simple but generally a good entry. Really liked the background music.
Really loved the art and humour you put into this, overall a real 'slick' entry.
Good entry, quite enjoyed it. I did struggle to understand what I was supposed to be doing though as some containers open and others don't, not sure if I missed something.
This will do very well, would love to see this expanded into a bigger game with multiple levels. So much potential to add even greater depth here.
Art, sound, UI, all on point. Well done to all involved in making this. I expect it to place highly.
Like playing a crane machine that isn't a scam. Quite enjoyed this one, good work on it.
I love my dust collection. Really enjoyed this one and had some funny writing, well done.
Best audio of any game, hands down. Gave me a good laugh and actually quite fun. The coins bouncing back out was a nice touch.
The background music was extremely good, loved it.
Loved the art and sound on this. Enjoyed the concept too and was well executed. Gave me a bit of 'Papers, Please' vibe.
The art is brilliant and you have put a really high level of polish on this. I found myself NEEDING to complete it after starting, some of the clues were so simple and yet it took me embarrassingly long to finish. Great work on your entry!
Overall a great entry, a lot of polish for 48 hours. Really quite enjoyed this!
Did have a few issues with the UI not seeming to reflect my selections and probably being stupid but couldn't figure out how to rotate.
The art and sound design are fantastic!
Trying to move through the crowds gave me a good laugh. I actually really like the concept here, could probably be expanded into something more. Great work on this.
UI design is very clean, I like it. Was the music your own song?
I like the simplicity of the concept, but it was a real struggle to understand what I am supposed to do initially. Nice entry though, delivered a finished game on time, which is easier said than done.
Really enjoyed this, it isn't easy to take a minimal mechanic and add depth to it like you have here. The restrictive binary choice creates some fantastic strategy to the gameplay. Great work.
Nice entry, the obstacle on the bottom section remind me of Undertale a little. Biggest improvement would be to have the Signal Sheet visible somewhere at all time. Great job though.
@domenixius Yeah, I agree. I originally planned to have a much more in depth driving system where you had to interact with the environment a lot more and make it way more silly to navigate around without destroying the van, ran out of time sadly. The driving aspect ended up being a bit flat :(
@william-corrin You are correct (I think lol) regarding phase. I didn't know anything about waves really before this entry and had to speed run learning the basics so probably confused some terminology.
I originally planned to have it much more in the style of 'RV there yet" and make the driving super silly while trying to maintain the signal accuracy, unfortunately just ran out of time so a lot of mechanics were cut down to make them at least 'finished'.
@podrez Yeah, I really wanted to add in a diegetic UI onto a physical dashboard. I did actually start modelling it but cut it to save time :( Was gonna make the dials be affected by hitting obstacles and speed bumps XD
Good job, kept it simple, delivered a solid entry.
Straight forward and well executed, a solid entry. Reminds me of my previous entry for the 'unstable' theme, but yours is substantially more polished and far better graphics XD. Great job.
Absolutely love the wooden toy aesthetic. Overall felt quite polished.
I really like the concept and enjoy these diegetic PC style games, but for the life of me, just couldn't work out what I was supposed to do. I clicked everything and spent a fair time trying to notice any pattern but just wasn't sure if it was unfinished or not.
I really liked this, the environment work was brilliant. Anything with a diegetic UI is always a big hit with me. Only trouble I found was connecting the calls felt a a bit awkward sometimes, like it was too far away.
Looks great and the concept is really fun, although I did struggle with the feel of the controls quite a bit. Great entry though.
@xedur Came back to play now you changed the controls. So much better, could definitely see myself playing a fleshed out version of this.
Looks really good and sets a nice calm atmosphere. Unfortunately I struggled to play beyond the first ship as no more arrived, not sure if it may have been a softlock.
I managed to save everyone!
I really wanted play through the whole game, but looking up the lines in the directory was frustrating and broke the pace too much. The concept is really good and the game looks great though.
Not sure if you have finished submitting yet but the itch.io page is not public.
Love the art you've created for this. I also did struggle a little with understanding the main goal and found that I was unable to stop the bugs or deliver the right colour food to the queen, not sure if I was missing something or if it was a collision issue.
@domenixius Ahh the shooting is on me for not being able to read properly haha. But yes, the colour of the queen was red and I was holding red and nothing seemed to happen, maybe I was just missing something though.
I enjoyed this a fair bit and had a few attempts. It did find it extremely difficult though, very easy to get overwhelmed by incoming signals. Good job overall though!
This is extremely good for a compo entry, feels very polished, graphics are great and any kind of RTS is ambitious in my view. Really great job. I did find it slow to get getting and had some issues where my workers seemed to stop producing from my farms which kind of soft locked me.
Was unable to play the embedded game unfortunately, nothing actually loads.
Can't see any link to your game and no description. Is everything submitted correctly?
The only good bug, is a dead bug! I enjoyed it, nice work.
I like the idea here, one big improvement if you ever wanted to make this into a full game, it would be fun if there were predefined messages to type out, or even dialogue that has to be typed within a time limit/avoid errors. Like the atmosphere of being stuck alone in a bunker, the art and sound really helped with that.
Solid little entry. I kind of forgot what the game was called until after I intentionally reported the unnatural objects XD
Probably the longest I've ever played an LD entry. Fantastic work all round. Loved the hand drawn art style and colour choice.
I like the mechanics here but I really did struggle to use the signal consistently and wasn't able to progress far unfortunately. It was a bit challenging to understand.
I found this too be too difficult unfortunately, granted I'm not a puzzle fan but some of them seemed rely on trial and error more than deducing the intended solution. Number 3 in particular had elements just just simply didn't seem to do anything no matter what I tried. The use of illusory space was very cool and well executed.
I crashed a few times trying to play :( I did enjoying exploring around though was I got the hang of the controls
My poor animals :( Great job on the art and sound design!
Would definitely benefit from maybe having some goal to the decoding, maybe some story to go with it. I also found myself only using the the translation sheet, would be good to be able to replay the sound. Nice work though.
