LD46 — Keep it alive

Feed King or Die Starving by jefvel 2020-04-21T16:37:59Z

@joewolf thanks for playing! Yeah, I noticed the guards don't contribute in a clear way. I really want to increase the attack rate of them.

Feed King or Die Starving by jefvel 2020-04-23T09:32:33Z

@wilhelmstein thanks! Yeah, we didn't have enough time to put in super clear instructions, but will probably at it in a post jam version. It does have audio though. What browser are you using?

Feed King or Die Starving by jefvel 2020-04-23T09:41:47Z

@wilhelmstein that's odd. I've tried it on chrome on all platforms and it works. Do you get any errors in the f12 dev console?

Feed King or Die Starving by jefvel 2020-04-23T09:58:06Z

@wilhelmstein ah, right. Yeah I added as much as I had time for. There is music, but it might be quite silent. Thanks for playing and the feedback!

Feed King or Die Starving by jefvel 2020-04-23T21:18:35Z

@01010111 Yeah, haha. I figured it's better to not be completely overrun if you fall into a pile of enemies, it feels more fun. I had that in mind but didn't have enough time to add it. I'll definitely add launch and attack indicators in a post jam version, and stuff that makes the gameplay a bit more varied. Glad you liked it, I also enjoyed your game, quite innovative gameplay mechanics!

Feed King or Die Starving by jefvel 2020-05-04T08:50:03Z

@aeveis Yeah, that is one thing we want to improve first. Like add some kind of indicator of which enemies are in range, and when the dash attack has recharged. The attack targets enemies in a half circle in the direction the guy is moving. That's a pretty good score, thanks for playing!

The Keep! It's Alive! by minibobbo 2020-04-21T20:36:16Z

This game was very fun and polished, but level 13 and 15 are not like the others. I give up, your game defeated me. https://streamable.com/gew0xv

The grabbing people and then smashing them against the ground is super satisfying!

The Keep! It's Alive! by minibobbo 2020-04-21T21:18:56Z

@minibobbo ahh, they're supercharged! It might have something to do with screen refresh rate. I'm using chrome on a 165hz monitor.

IT Thrives by Quarter Up Studios 2020-04-23T15:46:06Z

This was a very fun and satisfying game, even though it's a bit too easy to overpower the enemy. I managed to build a bunch of turrets next to the spawns to utterly destroy the tanks, but it was still fun expanding your area. Make it a bit more challenging and you have a great game!

Tower Defence of the Heart by terry 2020-05-04T18:53:49Z

This game is addicting! I got back to it now after playing it earlier, just to try to beat it. But I noticed the gameplay seems to be bound to framerate. On my 60hz screen I can get to round 12, while on my higher framerate monitor I can't get past round 2. The enemies move way too fast. Gameplay that shows the second round:

60hz: https://streamable.com/z6hgz5

165hz: https://streamable.com/6gjkvi

also I won the game and sold my heart! ji8GLWP.png

Earth Last Defender by Linx 2020-04-22T09:16:33Z

Haha, this is like the Doom of Asteroid games, you turn space into a bullet hell for the enemy. I got to the point where bullets covered half the screen and my speakers were starting to break. I think enemies should spawn in faster, plus some mechanic to deflect enemy bullets. Fun game nonetheless!

Anibun Help Me! by aeveis 2020-04-21T17:20:48Z

The graphics are great, and impressive for a gamejam. The atmosphere is nice. What it lacks currently is captivating gameplay. I'm not sure what the different attacks and abilities do, so in the end I just used the force bubble of each animal to fend off the enemies.

đŸ± Cat Fun Factory by gamescodedogs 2020-04-21T18:44:07Z

This was very fun! I built a factory that could handle heavy cat traffic without stopping, but sadly it glitched at this point: https://i.imgur.com/aGNt00h.jpg

First all cats just started moving in one direction, off the map, and then no other cats would spawn.

Other than that I had a great time building and planning, it's a well made game, especially for being made in a gamejam!

Guardian of the Rite by sawtan 2020-04-21T20:58:02Z

Very neat game! I played it through twice since I didn't realize favors were the upgrade points, so I spent them on health instead of saving them. I got a higher score that way though!

Great job on this. One thing is that the armor and health is sort of not needed until later levels. Maybe there should be a requirement to survive 10 waves before allowing the ritual?

https://i.imgur.com/ziVbIgN.png https://i.imgur.com/KH0ynkG.png

Guardian of the Rite by sawtan 2020-04-21T21:13:43Z

@sawtan NP! also, nice username

Marx's Graffiti Squad by Rongefilet 2020-04-21T22:42:35Z

Pretty fun area takeover game, but I feel the sprinting is a bit too short, and the lack of checkpoints between levels makes it turbo hard to finish. I couldn't make it past level 2, but had a fun challenge on the first one.

Just a Stroll by killy9999 2020-04-21T21:57:45Z

Cool to see others using heaps too! The animation and movement is very smooth, and it's satisfying to aim and throw rocks at birds. After a while your fire rate can't keep up and the world gets full of birds, but that's just how life is sometimes I guess. I managed to get 1500 points in the end. Well done!

None left Behind by Pirhana 2020-04-21T17:58:10Z

Great graphics and neat chiptune music! I couldn't manage to get through the first level though, I think either the timer or player movement is tied to display refresh rate or something, since it runs out way too fast: https://streamable.com/rcffxp

Or am I missing something?

One Day Outside by romgerman 2020-04-21T17:51:46Z

Interesting text based adventure. I tried but didn't manage to finish though, the game froze here: https://i.imgur.com/2yAWnkr.png

The computer UI elements that pop up are also neat. A full text based game with small puzzles and minigames that pop up that way could be cool

Some sound would also spruce it up and add immersion.

Dragon Drop by Roelosaurus 2020-04-21T17:37:19Z

Ooh, it took me a long time to understand that the speech bubbles show what the dragons don't like. I first thought the skull meant the strength of the potion, or something like that. Maybe it would be clearer if there was a red strikethrough on the gems instead?

https://i.imgur.com/TQFjrpL.png this also makes it look like they require a blue one, and are allergic to purple ones.

It did freeze completely on the first level with three dragons.

Other than that it's a neat puzzle game! Had me thinking and mixing and matching.

Running Old Game On Windows 10 Simulator 2020 by Kszaku 2020-04-21T19:43:09Z

Wow, this was a puzzle game I feel like I've played a bunch before in the past. It took a while but I managed to complete it. Very unique idea! Also it's the first LD game I felt I might get a virus from, haha

The Little Ship That Could by gama-11 2020-04-22T09:24:40Z

A very challenging game! Took a couple tries before I got the hang of the teleport mechanics. One thing that could make it a bit more forgiving is make the teleportation faster, to not have to think about predicting where it will land. For me planning where to go next is already a challenge. Also sometimes right clicking didn't seem to lock my ship in place.

Also, I think a simpler way to control it would be to lock the ship when you press LMB, and when you release it will teleport. So tap+drag will roll, and tapping will move, that way it could also work on touch screens

Koita and the Elder Relics by Toasted Oregano 2020-04-21T21:10:26Z

This game has great humor and music, I liked the chiptune breakbeat at the end. I'm not sure I finished the game properly though: I got all artifacts and there was the ceremony at the top, and then everyone stands there.

It was a bit buggy though, I could fly around by holding the jump key and running into walls and ceilings. But a fun experience nonetheless!

Civilitris by dasilvacontin 2020-04-21T19:35:17Z

This was a fun game, I managed to complete all quests after a couple tries. It does rely quite a lot on luck, since you have no idea what blocks come next, and if you get a bunch of fire blocks in a row you're basically dead. And I noticed sometimes the fire didn't spread at an even rate, and I died because there was one single wood block not catching fire!

This definitely has potential to be a great game

LD59 — Signal

No Signal by detectiveLosos 2026-04-27T15:51:45Z

Really like the atmosphere! Feels polished, both graphics and sound. So creepy. At first I just wanted to say hi to the forest person, but realized it wasn't a good idea. Managed to make a call in the end though! Fun to play you guys' game as usual :)

(couldn't participate this time :( feels bad to have missed it twice now! third time's the charm, I hope!)

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Stranded Trooper by Balgorode 2022-04-04T15:43:18Z

Super fun! The gameplay is very satisfying even without sound. With sound it'd probably feel even better! I enjoyed playing this, got to the point the game started freezing, at around 6 minutes or so.

It'd be nice to have a kill counter/score display that goes up when killing aliens, seeing numbers go up on the screen feels good. Also I feel like the upgrades that drop randomly are a bit too weak, I got two reload speed upgrades and still couldn't really see a big difference.

It'd be cool if the grenade landed where the mouse pointer was aimed, instead of having collision and hitting the first alien in its path. That way grenades would feel more powerful by being able to be thrown right into the center of a crowd.

All in all I really liked this, great job!

Space Ninja by mhorth 2022-04-06T11:04:28Z

This is polished and fun to play! Global high scores add a lot of fun to it. It does tire out your arm after a while though!

Some feedback: maybe there shouldn't be that many meteors, and instead they come in waves and your sword swing has a cooldown, so you gotta time your swings to get as many meteors each time (hitting multiple meteors in one swing could reset the cooldown quicker). Then there could be meteor showers after killing stars, that grant you unlimited swings for a limited time.

A solid game, which fits the theme too! Nice job :)

Untitled Zombie Shooter by Ismael Rodriguez by Ismael Rodriguez 2022-04-06T20:40:29Z

This was fun! It gets near impossible without cheesing it once the big hordes start coming in, but that's part of the challenge. The full auto boost is very satisfying when mowing down zombies. The graphical style is also good looking.

Some kind of warning signal, similar to the directional hurt markers FPS games would be nice too, Since the zombies are silent. It feels a bit unfair that you can suddenly just get killed, unless you're constantly spinning around.

I noticed you can stand on the ledge here: 6G0gdAS.jpeg and just shoot the zombies spawning in the forest. The ones spawning behind you wont be able to reach you, so you can just turn around, punch them for a free boost, and then shoot the forest zombies.

Good work on this!

Frame Buster by JCMonkey 2022-04-04T21:59:38Z

Haha, fun idea with having the framerate as life. A stronger GPU makes you more powerful, It's super pay to win!

It was quite fun to just smash chickens until the game froze. I enjoyed it. Nice job!

Volcano Maintenance by jefvel 2022-04-04T21:44:38Z

@pashaloban thanks!

@badoomtch Glad you enjoyed it!

@kemp Thank you! Yeah, it takes a bit to get used to it, but hopefully it's worth it :)

@leviathon Thanks a lot! I tried to make it fun and funny. Still didn't have the time to add some features, but that could be in a post jam version!

@m11 Thank you :) They really be emoting

@puree-adventure congrats, and thanks! It was actually the first time I drew that cool S, had to look it up on the internet. Didn't want to make it a bad cool S, it would be disrespectful.

@esayitch Thank you! Oh yeah, I totally forgot to adjust that! It's currently checking collisions around a circle centered around their feet, which is also used for keeping the characters from colliding into each other. So the collision is off by about 30 pixels or so :). Good catch, I'll fix it in a post jam version. And yeah, if you're not throwing hard enough it wont hit them at all. I should fix that by just bouncing the fruits off the guy, while not hurting them.

Volcano Maintenance by jefvel 2022-04-09T13:27:21Z

@ismael-rodriguez thanks! It's not super clear in game, but you have to charge up shots by holding down until the circle is still. Then you gotta hit them three times to knock them out temporarily. After that you can hit them a few more times to kill them, or pick them up and place in the catapult.

Thanks for playing!

The Pit by ZwodahS 2022-04-07T21:20:17Z

This was a nice card game! It didn't take too long to grasp how to play, and was fun to play all the way through until you had seen every monster (or at least I think I did see everything).

Feedback would be that running from enemies should require two cards, otherwise you can just run infinitely, pick up cards from a camp and then just continue from there. I also noticed that if you spam click the search button, the findings will stack and you'll go forward one extra level per click, so you can basically glitch your way to infinite levels+cards.

Demon Sigil by Justin Herrick 2022-04-06T19:11:55Z

A good looking game! It was enjoyable shooting stuff, but the offset of the bullets made it a bit hard to shoot vertically. I'm also not entirely sure what happened when the sigils got activated, but it was fun to see the skeletons do their thing.

Neat job!

Ice-olation by badoomtch 2022-04-04T17:45:50Z

This game has a nice atmosphere, and the idea is cool! I got rescued (sort of :))!

There's quite a lot of just waiting though, and it gets quite repetitive after a while. But I like the idea of being safe inside the igloo, being surrounded by a hostile environment. There's definitely a start of something that could be built on to make an exciting experience all the way through! Like having more activities, and more things to explore.

Good job!

Virus Bash by joewan 2022-04-04T21:27:25Z

A fun and nice looking game! It has a very consistent and eye catching graphical style which I like. I enjoyed playing it.

Some feedback: there should probably be a ranged enemy type, or something that will catch the player off guard. At the moment it's quite possible to go on forever, since all the enemies become slower than you, and you can just dodge away from them.

It's still super fun, and I got to level 20 just to see how powerful I could become :)

For a compo game it's very polished, and not too badly balanced either. Nice job!

Cold and Alone by David York 2022-04-04T14:32:03Z

This is very cool! I really like the mood of it, and the exploration in it. Only feedback would be to speed up the battery consumption of the heater, since I got in a loop just hoarding batteries, trying to find anything that I missed. I then just slept until the batteries ran out at day 55 or so. Also some sounds would really heighten the ambience.

It's a super solid entry, and impressive for a compo game :)

Mr. Fuse by Praccen 2022-04-06T16:56:37Z

Phew, this was challenging! After reaching the top twice I finally managed to beat it. The first time I wasn't sure what to do once I got up there, so I just tried to bounce it as high as possible, and then it fell down and I had to start over

It's a solid game, but can feel a bit unfair at some points when you have to almost glitch jump the bomb when it's stuck in a corner. It would be nice with a timer that showed how long it took the player to beat the game, and also optional checkpoints to make it a bit more forgiving.

Other than that I liked this game, but got really mad at it at the same time :D

Nice job!

Road Weaver! by leviathon 2022-04-04T13:42:02Z

Nice little jam game, liked the building effects when moving over them! It seems like there should be more cars spawning in periodically, but currently you only get 5. So once a collision happens there wont be much to do, since the chance of two of the few remaining colliding is small.

Kalopsia by tailow 2022-04-04T21:11:53Z

An interesting game! That weapon is so strong! It's fun to just shoot it into the corners of the level to clear almost every enemy at once. It would probably make sense to give it some kind of limitation, like the bigger the triangle, the less damage it does or something like that. But it's very fun to be able to be so powerful :)

Great job!

Kessler by jcg 2022-04-04T17:33:46Z

A very stylish looking game. I like the shadow effects and minimalistic visuals! I also destroyed a star which was cool.

Some feedback: I think it would feel a bit more responsive if the missile explosion started at max explosion radius and then shrank, instead of slowly growing and then shrinking. And having some explodey sounds would make it feel more powerful.

Nice work!

chronis by torcado 2022-04-04T19:31:35Z

This is a cool game, but requires you to think a lot! I managed to get up to 310, it becomes quite a soup at that point :)

It fits the theme really well, and is probably the most unique entry I've seen this far!

Great job!

Protocol Delta by itsBoats 2022-04-06T19:46:06Z

This was very fun! The attacks and movement feel very good and smooth, very polished. All the small details make the abstract shapes really feel alive, spinning and bouncing around.

The only feedback I have is to have some kind of progression, like upgrades in it, or to get points for defeating enemies and doing combo kills.

Nice work!!

lose95 by Sulo 2022-04-13T20:02:34Z

I liked this! It's a very good and unique take on the theme, and gets super hectic in the end. It feels very polished too, plus the name is funny :)

A little feedback: It would be nice to be able to click on things by holding down the mouse button, or have a delay on how quickly you can click. It gets quite straining when playing for a while and if you used an auto clicking program you'd be super OP. The trailing cursors could home in on things a little bit too, even if that's not really Windows canon.

It's a very cool game, great job!

Duck It! by Squidly 2022-04-06T20:17:44Z

This is a super charmy game! Everything about it feels well made. The movement felt a bit slow though, and the enemies sometimes spawned in a bit too quickly off screen after being killed.

It's a lot of content for a jam game, which is impressive :)

All around cool, great job!

LD45 — Start with nothing

Mission Start With Nothing by Benjamin123 2019-10-09T20:03:32Z

I don't really get how to kill the soldiers. I try to punch them but my arms seem a bit too short. Some sort of impact sound would be nice, or blood particles so I know I'm doing something. The inverted Y-axis made me feel confused. The lighting is cozy

Drop Dead by Alex Markoe 2019-10-08T01:12:34Z

Jumping seems to work only sometimes. The controls could be changed to be all on the keyboard (W to jump, S to pick up item, space or ctrl to attack). I don't see a reason why I need to attack with left click when I don't have to aim with the mouse, or maybe there are aim to shoot items in the game that I missed?

Liked the art/color style, that's what caught my eye

Inspiration. by F1Krazy 2019-10-09T21:00:57Z

Neat game. It was quite calming to walk around and just chill. Is it possible to help feed the birds or find bottlecaps? Because I seemed to miss that. Also I found a cool portal:

cool.gif

My Battle by minibobbo 2019-10-26T17:26:19Z

Neat game, killed the boss after many nights. It's a bit frustrating that there's a delay before you can jump after an attack, or that I can't press jump and attack at the same time. Also having to move my hands off to the mouse to skip the transitions could be improved by just skipping by pressing any key.

Sticky Squares by Friedrich Eibl 2019-10-09T19:37:22Z

This could be fun, but the the controls felt a bit sluggish. Also I got stuck in an ad that never ended.

Draw Your Own Adventure! by detectiveLosos 2019-10-09T21:42:19Z

This was fun! Coincidentally my bandit leader became a buff shrek with guns, which seemed to fit in well with the story: 8lnIyvx.png, and my artifact was just a plain sword which worked well.

The game could have potential, for something like a kids story game. Maybe have it tell small stories about some characters in different parts of the world in episodes, so not to play it through in one story telling session, and then having the drawn characters bump into each other and interact later on.

Draw Your Own Adventure! by detectiveLosos 2019-10-10T08:20:08Z

@annie-owl sure, it's yours now! Good luck on the post jam game!

Mage in Exile by Nikolay Zapolnov 2019-10-14T20:48:05Z

Pretty neat start for a game. I just wish I could go through the dialogue by pressing E or some other key on the keyboard. Also I feel like the knights have a bit too much HP, which makes it easier to just be lazy and dodge them and everything else. A bit of knockback from the magic missiles could be nice. A lot of stuff in this game considering the timeframe.

A Horse Called Nothing by jefvel 2019-10-08T00:24:38Z

@madbarron thanks, glad you liked it! They are actually quite useful in keeping the whole map clean once you start piling them up. It's also how you increase the town control progress

A Horse Called Nothing by jefvel 2019-10-08T07:43:48Z

@krjack Thank you! Being a sheriff is a hard job :gun: :cowboy:

A Horse Called Nothing by jefvel 2019-10-08T21:32:54Z

@bomb-x yeah, I get annoyed by it too but after a while I grew indifferent to it. Still recovering. We didn't have enough time to make it sound better, but definitely will if we decide to make something out of it. Thanks for playing it!

A Horse Called Nothing by jefvel 2019-10-08T21:35:12Z

@kruemelkeksfan did you manage to beat the game? Congrats if you did! I don't know if anyone else has done it except us devs

The hitboxes are kinda on kinda off, depends on how they feel. Might fix it some day. Thank you for playing it and I'm glad you liked it!

A Horse Called Nothing by jefvel 2019-10-10T17:37:39Z

@kruemelkeksfan you figured out the same tactic I used too! Great job finishing the game:)

@benpeterson I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for playing!

@owlannie-owl yeah we might have made it a bit too hard! But it is beatable if you figure out the right tactic. Thanks for playing it :)

@4quet Inspired by a horse with no name by america! Yeah definitely, it's the first thing I will change when/if we do a post jam version. Thanks you for playing it!

A Horse Called Nothing by jefvel 2019-10-21T18:53:25Z

@nikolay-zapolnov haha yeah, that's basically the only reliable tactic to best the game. Might add a ramming mechanic so you can just ride down enemies, and have the gun as a secondary action along with some upgrades. Wanted to make it feel like you're gradually getting your town back, and have the townspeople defend it on their own. Glad you liked the animations, and thanks for playing!

Ooze for the Ooze Gods by maxdmg 2019-10-27T12:57:18Z

Fun start for a game! Would be great with some sound effects and a bigger area. Maybe the core blob could have a darker shade of green, so it's easier to avoid bullets.

Soundmarine by Dustyroom 2019-10-08T21:06:11Z

Cool aesthetics and sound, feels almost like a demo. I didn't get any purple outlines either, and the sub went invisible for some time. Other than that it's very impressive for a gamejam game

Super Goat Life by Olivier argentieri 2019-10-08T20:33:09Z

Cool looking game, I like the atmosphere. Destroying stuff in the end was fun. But I couldn't find the last secret :(

Panspermia by bloodyaugust 2019-10-08T21:28:27Z

Very nice graphic style. I wasn't sure what made them scared/sick looking and die though. Do they die of age?

Crystal Cave by Heta 2019-10-09T20:40:25Z

After a lot of jumping I managed to get all of the gems! I wish the camera would move along with the character though, now it seems to jump around very erratically, making things harder than they should. The store guy looks goofy and that's funny. The character's hitbox should probably be a little smaller too. It was pretty fun to play

Get A Job, Baby! by XeduR 2019-10-08T22:29:46Z

This was surprisingly fun! I made so much money fishing and gambling.

I instinctively spam clicked on the BUY/SELL buttons, but I think you were supposed to just hold them down. Perhaps the buttons could emit square particles while holding down to visibly show the amount of money you're raking in?

Memory Palace by MattWagar 2019-10-09T19:46:09Z

Neat, this helped my memory. I made a story about stuff and I remembered it. Some things that came to mind that would improve it is being able to press enter to finish the text, and not immediately fail when you misclick when recalling the story. I lost when I accidentally clicked on one image that overlapped the one I wanted. Maybe add another "Finished recalling" story button, and being able to click on the last selected image to unlink it.

Soul Corrupter by supercannon 2019-10-08T00:51:18Z

It was fun going fast swinging around and eat souls, but felt a bit slow when just walking. Nice death trail. Hail satan

PS. I liked the color theme in the logo, maybe the game could also follow it, along with black and red?

TRIGGORE by Lumpy 2019-10-09T20:21:41Z

At first it seemed to be one of those escape the room point and click games. But instead I got to shoot a bunch of monsters. That felt good. Really stressy though! Maybe there could be some short periods of calm, like 5 seconds of sunlight when you can take a breath. Very nice death explosions of the enemies

Can you win the game or will does it continue forever?

DEVOURER by 4quet 2019-10-09T22:04:58Z

Neat game, you really get a flow in it after a while. I think the lasers stop increasing after a while, so it doesn't really get more difficult. I got up to 11681: FZpHE7i.png

Calibal's Curse by neonlare 2019-10-20T17:14:21Z

This game is both fun and so difficult! It would be nice if some of the items would be saved when clearing a level, so you start with them when you die. Also getting more than two hearts of life would be nice. I cleared the whole first level without finding a health upgrade, then died before getting to the boss.

Calibal's Curse by neonlare 2019-10-21T18:48:39Z

@neonlare Ah, makes sense. Never played gradius though. Are there shrines that increase your health, or is that gained some other way? I cleared out the whole first level and was still at two hearts, but with all weapons and my dagger leveled to a billion. I got a bit sad when I died to the DVD screen saver boss hitting me twice after that :)

Would be great if it saved my level progress when closing the game too, since this feels like a game I'd want to go back to

Calibal's Curse by neonlare 2019-10-22T08:28:24Z

@neonlare maybe there could be a minimum amount of those health upgrades per level, so you can get at least a little bit stronger. I might have gotten a very unlucky seed though :)

Ah yeah, I know, I meant dvd screensaver monster. I defeated the big boss once. I was just so disappointed in myself to die to such a small monster after getting all upgrades on the level

Polterheist by Cral 2019-10-08T23:18:30Z

This looks like one of those old school point and click adventures, very nice graphics and sound effects  . I gotta finnish it tomorrow. I'm not sure if I pushed the cart too far to the left past the door, maybe it doesn't matter?

EDIT Aw yeah, I got my revenge. Nice game! The first item you get is kinda hard to see, and I picked it up on accident. But it's definitely playable as a whole

Dungscoot by Mr_Field 2019-10-09T19:31:26Z

This is a really interesting concept and a cool game. Did a few rounds, but always died. Does this game have an end or is it endless? I could definitely see this being a nice mobile game. It does need a bit more balancing though, I think I walked past over 6 chests before finding a single key. Good game!

Edit: I also keep losing my bag, is that by design? I want to keep it :(

Slave: Unchained by Tednesday 2019-10-27T01:46:33Z

I'm not sure if you can win the game or not, but I was killing a lot of people. It's very satisfying to dash through a folk mass. Very fun mechanics, with nice sound effects. Well done with the own engine too :)

Doki-Doki Trash Party Panic by OWC 2019-10-14T21:48:08Z

Really fun game, would love to have a longer version with sound!

Area 45 by conk 2019-10-08T22:06:19Z

I'm not sure what all the different things do but I did a lot of tweeting and tooting until I could rage and pray. I think it helped save america. I feel like a hero now. Thanks, I liked this game

Muscle Typer by organicpencil 2019-10-08T00:00:25Z

i got stronger in real life after playing this. it also reminded me to inject more egg yolk into my eyes. I liked it

Pelinguin's Strange Journey by MarcRobin 2019-10-08T22:17:11Z

The E button spam contest is torture. I can feel the arthrosis forming. Is the speed to it bound to framerate? Other than that I liked the jump challenge before it :)

Pelinguin's Strange Journey by MarcRobin 2019-10-08T22:57:23Z

@marcrobin don't worry, I have two of them anyway. I thought it was suspiciously difficult, like what kind of super humans made this game

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

SPÅRVAGN by Dustyroom 2020-10-06T22:15:23Z

The graphics and atmosphere are superb. A really clean and polished game, impressive for 72 hours.

It has really clear and easy to read instructions, but didn't come with an allen key. I think it got lost somewhere

Hands on Work by jefvel 2020-10-07T21:06:49Z

@jammygunns: glad you liked it! we tried our best to make it crazy!

@frozenfire92: thanks for playing! that's a pretty good score, you were a good worker

@mikew: thank you! we didn't initially intend it to become like that, but it evolved into it :)

@glayson: wow, thanks! a full score is an honor.

@rein: hehe yeah, it's hard to decide the difficulty when you've been grinding your own game over and over again. I didn't want it to become too repetitive, and instead end quickly rather than become boring

@zwodahs: Thanks! Your submission was also fun, played it a bunch of times!

@tauheed-game-dev: Yeah, calls from management is something we can live without most of the time :)

@paer-strandberg: Thanks! we had a goal to keep the controls as simple as possible, and preferably playable on phones. Also we went with a super simple game mechanic, and spent most of the time polishing.

@vcasadei Thanks for playing! It could be fun to have different machines, or scenarios with this first person perspective, and add puzzle elements.

@eugenik Thank you!

@dakke: Thanks! We tried to make the experience go from calmness and turn into chaos :)

@jon-nova: Thank you! Hehe yeah, we didn't really plan it to be played many times, so the end sequence is quite long.

@jordan-kelly What do you mean? It's a great place with tons of fun! Besides from the explosions and nagging boss and the extreme fatality rate.

Hands on Work by jefvel 2020-10-09T17:26:21Z

@flazone: Thank you! Yeah, it's easy to get blind to the difficulty when you grind your own game for a whole weekend. Should definitely make it easier in case of a future post jam version :)

Hands on Work by jefvel 2020-10-09T21:17:21Z

@annie-owl thank you fellow comrade! Our information tells us you've been productive. This is great, both for Our glorious country, and its people. But especially your family.

It's cool to see you're still using that avatar by the way!

Hands on Work by jefvel 2020-10-13T19:36:19Z

@peachtreeoath Well done, you have worked hard and that will be rewarded!

Thank you for playing and the feedback! We went with a super simple game loop, it was done in the first hour or so, and used the rest of the time to just polish it. I'm a but surprised myself how much more enjoyable the game got just by doing that! I feel it's the way to go in gamejams, keep the scope super small but polished.

Escape from LAB 2635 by Rein 2020-10-06T17:26:03Z

Quite fun game! Took me 52 loops to finish.

It took me a few tries in the first area until I realized I had gotten the ability to shoot after getting the chest. And it would be easier to control if you could right click to use items in addition to pressing E. The jump was also a bit confusing since the guy doesn't turn around instantly, so you have to wait a while after looking in a direction before jumping.

Start The Game (Together) by Raivk 2020-10-07T10:56:27Z

I went in deep ZLWoocm.jpg and I think it took me to the end.

It has a very polished feel to it, and it's an interesting concept. Cool experiment!

LoopBreak by Belonzik 2020-10-07T23:38:14Z

Great looking platformer, and it has very solid feeling controls. Couldn't pass the third level for a while until I realized you can double jump.

Haven't passed all levels yet, they seem to get quite challenging! It would be nice with a quick reset button thoguh as someone mentioned above.

Knights of the Holy Loop by RenD 2020-10-09T17:24:40Z

Very nice graphics and polished feel! It's a cool idea of a game, and could become very fun if balanced up a bit. Currently it's hard to lose, but still a really solid entry, especially for being made in such a short amount of time!

You booped me! D: by detectiveLosos 2020-10-09T21:26:09Z

This was a fun game! Short but still challenging enough to have to be tried a few times until winning. I liked the clean but stylish graphics too.

I got a bit confused by having to press W to shoot, and space bar to jump, it would feel more natural if they were the other way. Also if you showed the time it took to finish at the end would add more replayability to it, to try to beat your own time and such :)

It also fit the theme well!

Good job!

Clound loop by Glayson 2020-10-06T17:00:39Z

Pretty fun platformer! I think I got to the end after a couple tries, I ran off the map and it started over.

The hitboxes of spikes are bit too big, which leads to frustrating moments of not feeling like you hit them but you died anyway. And sometimes you got stuck in the ground and walls, which makes precision platforming unpredictable.

Aboard by Chris Mulholland 2020-10-08T22:25:28Z

This game has a great atmosphere! Also I had no idea you could get rich that fast as a ship janitor, that's crazy

This House Looks Familiar by CesarGary_ 2020-10-06T21:43:19Z

I didn't read the description before playing, almost immediately thought about The Caretaker!

You captured his feel really well in game form. A really nice experience.

Bust-a-Loop by PeachTreeOath 2020-10-13T19:44:15Z

This game is pretty fun! I'm not good at all at these types of games, but managed to get through one combo on the pro level. I feel like if the attacks were just a small bit slower and forgiving it would be a lot easier. Some sound feedback would add a lot to it too.

I could see this becoming a very fun game with some polish and visual juice, having crazy combos completely destroying opponents.

Neat job!

Donut Island by odedro987 2020-10-09T22:34:57Z

Very nice game, and the difficulty ramps up well.

It did take me a while to realize you had to shoot the dead bodies into the center hole to get points for new item drop. Maybe you could add score texts that appear from the bottom of the pit that float up to make it clearer or something similar?

And also the shotgun and SMG both aren't as strong as the default pistol, since the SMG does too little damage, and the shotgun doesnt' really work well for shooting accurately and effectively. The damage of the SMG could be upped, and maybe the shotgun could penetrate enemies twice. That way they could both be viable weapons, because currently it's almost like getting a game over if you pick them up.

The bullets are also a bit too similar in color to the background, so they're not as easy to spot. Maybe you could add warning arrows on the edges of the screen when new monsters spawn too, as an early warning so you don't suddenly get shot by a not yet seen enemy that spawns in on the other side of the level.

Other than that I really enjoyed this game, the graphics are nice and it fits the theme pretty well :)

Good job!

Mirror Mirror by Paer Strandberg 2020-10-06T22:27:49Z

Neat little platformer, the mirror character is an interesting concept!

It's a bit hard to see when not playing in full screen and coming to the loop fall, but that's what magnifying glasses are for

10 Seconds from Death by brads.space 2020-10-06T21:57:23Z

Cool platformer, with really nice lighting! The banner logo is my favourite this far, it looks very good.

Blind Faith by sohakes 2020-10-06T22:59:45Z

Very good interpretation of the theme! I tried breaking out of the cycle by backing up and dying but sadly the violence is unescapable. Or is it?

The graphics and animations are really nice!

The Titan's grave by BadPiggy 2020-10-09T21:13:44Z

This was really fun to play, and very suitable for speedrunning! Got down to 57 seconds!

The only thing that I felt was slightly annoying at first is that you had to roll multiple times to get away from the initial fists. Other than that I think you got the attack patterns right, not too advanced to have to practice forever, and not too easy to beat on the first try.

Getting stuck in corners was also a bit annoying, so maybe the arena could be circle shaped instead? Or have many different shapes, and be able to roll diagonally instead of just up/down/left/right.

It's a good balance for a gamejam game.

Great job!

The Titan's grave by BadPiggy 2020-10-10T11:23:46Z

@badpiggy I got it down to 48 seconds! here's a recording of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTphNkghsls

It's a fun game

Ouroboros by FlatKiwi 2020-10-07T22:28:54Z

This is a very cool platformer! The attacks feel really meaty and powerful, and the movement is quite good.

One minor thing is that you don't turn immediately when pressing left and right, and that you can't turn mid-air, which makes it harder to control.

The graphics and sounds are really well made and fits the mood too!

Among Me by Verbante 2020-10-06T21:10:35Z

It took me a while to understand what was happening, but once I did it got quite interesting and fun. I tried standing still to make it easier to detect impostors but then realised the movements of them are also part of how you've moved earlier, so the AI really tricked me there. Got up to 8, at which point I had reached chaos and got stabbed by my past self.

It would be nice if the characters had a stronger outline, to make it easier to discern them when they're overlapping.

Nice game!

two tapes by Aurel300 2020-10-07T13:47:26Z

I really like the mood, and the room spirits have a charming personality.

Haven't gotten to the end yet though, three cassettes makes it quite challenging. The graphics are also very unique.

The only thing that I can think of to make it a bit easier would making the rewind and forward buttons be holdable instead of toggleable, and make it loop to the end when you rewind lower than 0.

Very solid game!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Glitch Dip by Volkolak 2021-04-26T09:16:59Z

Nice game!

The monster spawn positions could have a minimum distance from the player. Many times it was impossible to survive at all since you spawn into monsters that instakill you. A crosshair would also be good.

Other than that it was nice, the kill sounds were meaty and it was fun clearing many monsters in one shot!

ROOTS by TheGreenWorm 2021-04-29T19:15:42Z

This game is really fun, and is surprisingly balanced. The upgrades feel like they flow really well, making progression really fun.

It's cool that the time trial mode pretty much makes it a completely different game, it too being very fun.

However would be nice if there was a reset button, plus being able to skip the end grow animation once you've unlocked the time trial mode.

Also, the collision shapes seem to be convex, even if the visual shapes are concave on some objects. It makes you get stuck in thin air sometimes when you try to pixel surf them to shave time.

Here's a very painful demonstration of that happening: https://streamable.com/2wplkg at around 45 seconds the root just gets stuck. It sucks because I think I had a sub 43 second run going there

Anyway, it's a super nice game!

ROOTS by TheGreenWorm 2021-04-30T01:00:38Z

@thegreenworm I've been trying to get that time again, but it seems almost impossible to get the RNG right  At a certain point it becomes a gambling game just about obstacle placement.

It would be nice if most obstacles had small hard to pass through passages spread out on them, so you have a chance to continue a speedrun without just having to give up.

Also I noticed there were quite a lot of those ghost collisions on the last part of the map, and the green slime sometimes covers the actual walls of objects so it's easy to accidentally crash into them.

The outline of the striped brown shells become harder to see once you get deeper down, which makes them hard to avoid.

However those things don't really matter in the non time trial version :)

Also one last point is that it'd be cool if the game was in a portrait resolution, so you could see a bit further down. This would be perfect for mobile!

I got really stuck with this game, dang

Here's a 43.59 run: https://streamable.com/ikcfj1

I don't think I'll get lower for now

Asteroid Disaster by XCVZXC 2021-04-26T10:32:27Z

A fun game! Managed to get down to 126 seconds: tUgV9N0.png

The controls are nice, and the game has nice speedrunning potential. It would cool with more stuff to dodge :)

Good job!

Fish'n'Ship by tipyx 2021-04-28T10:39:23Z

A very cool game once you understand how it works!

Blame is partly on me, since I didn't read the instructions until after I beat the game . I thought having a guy on the oxygen module slowed down oxygen consumption, but turns out it was actually making it drain faster. Some visual indicators for that would be nice, like a red arrow pointing downwards on the oxygen meter. It wasn't really clear it was actually shooting out bubbles scaring all fish. Maybe having it active should add a semi transparent status icon to all fish to make it more intuitive.

The status icons sometimes appeared behind other fish, making them hard to see.

The graphics are very polished and pretty. Adding some music and more sound effects would definitely enhance the overall atmosphere.

Other than that I had fun playing this, well done!

Fishing Trouble by jefvel 2021-04-26T07:40:27Z

@kofuku thanks for playing! Yeah, I wanted to add an item that would kill multiple fish when doing combos, but didn't have time sadly

Fishing Trouble by jefvel 2021-04-26T10:07:03Z

@5mixer Thank you! I wanted to add an inventory list which showed what each item does, but didn't have time. The shop keeper sort of tells you what they do but it's easy to miss.

Reel = increases max length

Rod = increases total weight you can hold on the hook (more and heavier fish)

The weight = increases sink speed

Hook = increases the amount of money you get per fish

Magnet = increases catch radius

Gun = protection against stuff far down

Fishing Trouble by jefvel 2021-04-27T20:56:41Z

@torcado Wow, thanks a lot! It was really fun recording all the stuff

@rhoff95 Thanks! It was a bit inspired by that game, it's a classic!

@sawtan Thank you, and I'm glad you got out of debt! I was planning on adding an item that killed multiple fish at a time when you got combos, but didn't have time. So now you just get carpal tunnel syndrome in the endgame.

@humanisred Thanks and cool that you enjoyed it! I didn't have time balancing the total days of the game, so it's pretty hard to lose (it's sad because nobody will see the game over screen), but I'm glad it's still a fun game!

@annie-owl Thanks!! Ooh, did you manage to actually catch him? He's quite a challenge to punch to death

@navenka Thank you! I might make a post jam version with more different fish to beat up :) I had fun recording all those noises too!

@seb-degraff yee! Glad you liked killing sealife!

@smt Thanks for liking this! Glad you thought it was funny!!

@dpmzi Thanks dude! I'm happy you enjoyed it! Now you can buy stuff without being scared about mobsters breaking down your door in the night

Fishing Trouble by jefvel 2021-04-27T22:09:59Z

@mhorth Thank you! Glad you liked and sharing the game! Great job on catching the big guy :) 21 days is good for a first run!

@evil-as-shit Thanks! Yeah I agree it gets quite repetitive. I had planned on having a fishing encyclopedia item, which would simplify and change the fish patterns, plus a combo killing item. I'll add those if I do a post jam edition :)

Fishing Trouble by jefvel 2021-04-27T22:24:28Z

@0x746564 yeah I know right! It always starts with trying to get a bigger snapper than your neighbor, and ends with the mob throwing you into a lake with concrete boots. Such is life.

I want to fix that repetitiveness if I do a post jam game, but I'm glad you liked it anyway. Thanks for playing!

The Fall by sawtan 2021-04-26T17:47:01Z

The graphics are very nice looking and athmospheric!

There seems to be some good music too, but it's very silent compared to the ambient wind sound effect.

Currently there isn't really any incentive to hit stuff with your sword, at least until the last round with the balls shooting homing smaller balls at you. So it feels easier to dodge everything up to that point.

It would be nice if the attack speed was faster, and the enemies took a few more hits to kill. That along with impact effects, like enemies being janked backwards when hit and blood/debris splatter, would make attacking things more rewarding.

Toxicity Run by StefGrizzly 2021-04-26T15:31:06Z

This is so much fun to speedrun! I managed to get down to 18 seconds. It's very fun to find shortcuts and get a bit faster every time. The online scoreboard is a very nice feature.

It would be nice with a reset button, since it takes some time to refresh the page every time I did amistake. Also sometimes the minigames feel a bit unfair, like suddenly having to type philanthrophist or deeperanddeeper.

I like the randomness of the minigames though. It's nice feeling lucky getting many fast ones in a row.

Deeper Understanding by detectiveLosos 2021-04-27T11:14:36Z

This is a very atmospheric game!

However I'm not sure if it has an end or not? I've tried almost every combination of reporting/not reporting, taking all meds or a few of them or none, answering the phone/door.

It would be nice if there was some kind of clearer indication of what went wrong or right. Maybe there could be a notebook left on the last day showing research stats about the different med efficiencies? Or maybe I've missed something?

Also it's possible to walk through the door left to the exit, making it hard to get back since you're in complete darkness.

Anyways it's a spooky, and slightly confusing experience!

Depth by SaraJS 2021-04-27T19:43:43Z

This game is so frustrating but addictive! It's super satisfying to master patterns.

However some of the obstacles feel unfair/straight up impossible.

The player moves faster when moving diagonally compared to straight, which make the wall hugging holes impossible when they are on opposite sides of each other in non diagonal directions. Here's demonstrative gif: https://i.imgur.com/nkobA8y.gif This random element kept killing me so many times it started to get really annoying.

The white moving things felt a bit random, but it added tension to the game.

This game might be sliightly too challenging for a gamejam game in my opinion. A personal rule of thumb is that if you can't beat your game fully at relative ease at the end of a gamejam it's probably too difficult.

But I had to beat this game. It was taunting me. So I did it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSc5i5vasmM The relief is immeasurable!

Out of curiosity, did you beat the game fully yourself or single levels separately?

In summary, I really liked it but also hated it. And the graphics and sounds were minimal yet consistent. Good game! This will definitely be the game I put most time into this jam.

PS. I submitted my game to your stream form but accidentally put the url to an ebay link instead of my game

Depth by SaraJS 2021-04-27T22:48:27Z

@shaunjs Ah, I didn't think of wall bouncing! It's quite challenging to do, especially during the triangle shaped holes since you first have to check if the hole is on the opposite side or not. They are easier to get through when you can move diagonally though.

Yeah, it's a bit of personal preference. I usually want to complete the gamejam games I play, while also playing many different ones. I got stuck on this forever, but it was worth it in the end!

improbability engine by Aurel300 2021-04-27T14:54:32Z

This game has really good aesthetics, and a great mood. But as mentioned above the rubix cube puzzle felt too challenging. After a while I was just spam pressing buttons in hope of randomly solving it, but gave up.

Everything before that was very enjoyable!

No matter how deep you are I will find you and revenge my kitty by quackBehavior 2021-04-28T23:14:33Z

This is a funny game, and that guy is strong af. The mechanics are also great, and feels like it has tons of potential. Going around throwing stuff at everything feels chaotic and satisfying. The blood streaks on the walls is a very nice effect. Some powerful punch and hit sounds would add a ton of juice to the attacks.

It would be nice if it was possible to jump with W/up too instead of space.

I had fun going through the game twice, just because I wanted to kill more people!

Nice job!

Kikker Kerker by kleingeld 2021-04-26T08:40:23Z

Haha, this is great even if it's unfinished! The sound effects and graphics are fantastic. I'm just pushing people off the board because that's fun.

Would definitely be interested in this as a full game

Brawl Of the Deep by Kofuku 2021-04-26T08:01:55Z

Neat, I see you also like punching fish!

I have not been able to beat this yet, the opponent gets very fast at lower HP and also seems to block most of my attacks at that point.

It would be nice if there was a successful block indicator, so you know blocking works. Also some audio feedback before the opponent attacks would be nice, so you don't have to only rely on looking at him.

I currently reflexively only press block when I hear the attack sound, since I'm keeping track of the energy bar. But it seems like it's too late to try to block once the attack sound plays.

Orbdig by 5Mixer 2021-04-27T10:08:32Z

This is very fun to play even though it doesn't have a win/lose condition. Just blowing everything up is satisfying.

Would be very cool and make for a good full game if it had some sort of enemies and variation when buying new mines!

All in all it's a neat compo game!

BritaMiner by Junior Lima 2021-04-27T21:09:57Z

A neat little game!

I liked being able to dig very fast getting all gold.

It would be nice if the speed increased with time, since currently it's quite easy to go on forever. Maybe have lava blocks that will hurt you a bit further down for an additional challenge.

Hole Explorer by ZektorH 2021-04-26T08:20:37Z

Same here, this game looks nice based on the screenshot, but there's no built version to play.

Gold Mountains by Likirus 2021-04-26T14:30:38Z

This was super fun, and very impressive for being a compo game! As mentioned above, it's a bit unbalanced. It's quite easy to overwhelm the enemy quickly. I tried to play less aggressively, just to build up gold and see how far you can get. I had so many buildings the game froze

One fix could be to increase the price of upgrades per upgrade, and limit the amount of upgrade levels. Currently you can build one gold mine and one archer building, then just spam upgrade them and win.

A very good start for a game, and fantastic for being done in such a short amount of time!

self reflection by torcado 2021-04-26T15:52:36Z

Wow, what a puzzle game! You really nailed the difficulty of it. Not so hard you give up, while still being challenging enough to keep you engaged. I'm not really into puzzle games but this was really great.

It's a unique puzzle mechanic too, haven't seen anything like it before. The whole experience fits the theme amazingly well.

This is my favourite game so far

self reflection by torcado 2021-05-19T07:24:23Z

Ey congrats on getting the theme gold!

Quick Scrap by Vimlark 2021-04-27T22:05:41Z

A neat platformerish game! I liked trying to get fast perfect runs. Would be very cool with online leaderboards.

The camera does move a bit slow when going upwards though, so you need to wait for it to catch up.

It could be interesting if the dashing worked in every direction instead of just up and down

Beepo's Shop by itsBoats 2021-05-20T09:05:45Z

This was a very nice game! I managed to fly into the sun.

The quick travel is a smart idea, it removes the slow travel back that Motherload and similar games have, where it takes longer and longer to get to the bottom and up. And at the same time it forces you to be cautious, to not dig too far straight down.

The positional audio of the shop's music also really added to the atmosphere of the game, like coming up to the peaceful surface after journeying far down into the depths. In a way it reminded me of the save rooms in Resident Evil. It would be cool if when the music fades out, more eerie ambient cave background noises would fade in.

The progression felt balanced. You could buy upgrades almost every time you got up to the surface, and there was always a blue point to dig towards.

One thing that would make playing feel a bit smoother would be to be able to hold down arrow keys to dig in a direction, instead of having to press every time.

Super well done for a first LDjam game! Sadly I didn't see this until now after the competition, but I rate it very good :)

Infratoad by Seb_degraff 2021-04-30T13:28:00Z

This was a fun game once you learn how it works! Took a few tries for me to win but i managed and now the frog can survive forever

The graphics are really nice, like book illustrations. That along with the sound effects gave the game a nice athmosphere.

There were some small control weirdness going on though, like if you press the catch button, and immediately start changing directions, the character will reset the catch animation and be stuck in peace until you do moving for a while.

With some polish and few more game elements this could be a nice full post jam game!

Great work :)

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-04T08:40:08Z

@swen Thank you, glad you noticed the small things I added! I didn't have time to balance it, so it's a super hard game. A bit too hard I think :)

@indigowolf Thanks for liking and playing it!

@guisado Thank you!

@magnusfurcifer Thanks, glad you found it funny! Oh! That happened to me like once during the weekend, but I didn't have time to find and fix it. Let's say it's an easter egg!

@parafactual Thank you! Yeah, the game relies on being able to press both mouse buttons. Touchpad makes it very hard. I didn't have time fixing alternative controls, but might do it in the future

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-05T08:25:16Z

@kernon thanks! Yeah this horse is swerving like crazy

@rolly Glad you found it funny! And thanks!

@roelosaurus Thank you for playing! Yeah he's definitely not playing around

@torcado Thank you! Yeah the weapons both have their strong sides, the pistol does a lot of damage, but the knife makes you quicker. Did you manage to beat the game? If so, congratulations! I don't know if anyone else has done it yet!

And yeah, that edge jumping thing was one thing I forgot to fix. It now has a minimum jump height, but it's not in the compo version. I also wanted the horse to jump up on the ledge, so when he gets there he'll be completely stable until the user clicks again. But hadn't got the time for that either.

It's not really mentioned anywhere, but if you press the full screen button, you'll have a much bigger field of view. That will make it much more fair. I just got so used to the timings and attacks that I didn't even think about it.

Thanks for the thorough post, and glad you liked the game!

@jammygunns, @bassilij, @bloodbane Thanks for playing! Yeah I agree the controls are sort of awkward. I didn't have time to add alternate controls, with space for jump, and lean left right with A and D. Pressing both the left and right mouse buttons can be finicky in browsers, and also not possible for some users. But I hope you found it a bit fun to play :)

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-05T09:10:04Z

@torcado whoa, great job! You're the first one I know of to actually have done it!

Yeah, I should probably have added a "Fullscreen recommended" prompt at the start of the game. I added that to the description though.

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-05T20:21:33Z

@torcado hell yeah! You've mastered the game!

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-05T22:10:48Z

@mhorth Ey, yeah I made that game! So glad that you like both of them! And super props to you for finishing this one too! You're the second one who I know has beaten it, well done. I wanted to make a very challenging game this jam, but I might have gone a bit too far.

Do you remember what time you got, so I can document it?

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-05T22:38:01Z

@mhorth Nice! That's a good way to do it

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-06T18:19:59Z

@all: Yeah, the game is way too hard, didn't realize it until I put it out. I noticed that if I cut down the maximum rotation speed of the horse it becomes a lot more fun. Might put out a more accessible post jam version later.

@alec The poor horse had to do what he could to survive. Glad you liked it even if it was so unforgiving!

@nick-rafalski I'm glad you liked it, even if it's absolutely too hard!

@annie-owl wow, you got to the last phase? That's pretty hardcore, not far from actually winning the game! And thanks for liking it and playing it so much!

@megamasterx haha naah, you're not really bad at it, you're good if you can balance for a few seconds. You just have to get really into the game, matrix mode, to win it. I'm glad you enjoyed it even though it being crazy!

@jeremyfa Thanks for liking it! I figured it followed the theme, the horse is unstable on the rope, and he got un-stabled in the intro. And I agree on the difficulty. I just played it so much while making it, and even felt it started to become a bit too easy after a while. I'm just glad I didn't make it even harder!

@thewustache yoo! You're the third person who has beaten the game, that's impressive! Do you remember what time you got? Yeah, I want to add resting places on both sides, so once you reach them the horse will sit down until the player presses a button, and also reduce the max rotation speed of the horse. Thanks for playing and mastering the game! Not many people will hear all the different phases of the music, but I'm glad you did :)

@jvolonte Thank you! Yeah, it's super difficult, way too super difficult. The knife is nice though, since you wont have think about balancing while dashing in the air. I'm glad you liked it!

@juanrod707 Thanks for playing!

@caudatecoder Thanks! That video was very helpful, made me realize over-rotation is the primary obstacle, and that the game is unclear about that you can attack midair. I will definitely fix those problems if I do a post-jam version. Thank you for playing it, and recording while doing so! It's a really good way for seeing what works and what doesn't! You get so blind with your own game when you sit with it for such a long time building it from scratch! Big thank you again!

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-06T22:00:37Z

@annie-owl whoa that's sick, nice job! Really happy you enjoyed it that much!

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-09T13:04:55Z

@thewustache daang, nice job! The post jam one will be quite a lot easier, so you might ultra win it in no time!

@gus-goucher Thanks, glad you liked it!

@kumber thank you! Yeah, it does require a lot of practice, it's probably a bit too challenging! That horse is really going places.

@lesinvisible Thanks! Yeah, I wanted to make a game with mouse only controls. But the postjam version has mouse+keyboard support. It feels a bit better and easy to play. Glad you liked it!

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-12T09:07:45Z

@rhoka Yeah, I agree the controls are quite unergonomic. I did make a post-jam version I put up on newgrounds, which has alternative control schemes like the one you described.

Thanks for playing and liking it!

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-12T23:13:35Z

@rhoka sure! it's here https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/817197

Horse with a Human Mask on A Tightrope by jefvel 2021-10-13T20:08:28Z

@coleslaughter Thank you! Yeah, it is super challenging, you got to spend a whole weekend with it to win it. The post jam version on the newgrounds link above is a bit more better in that regard. Glad you did like it though!

@rhoka Aw yeah! Nice job, glad you enjoyed it! And thank you!

Space Alconaut by Bassilij 2021-10-05T21:21:41Z

That ship went into the bottle dimension, damn.

Neat idea and graphics style on the arms, but it's a bit frustrating that he just stops moving. Would be nice if the character instead moves by itself in different directions and you have to control that. I ended up just spam jumping hoping to build up some speed since otherwise it felt like was stuck to the ground. The password puzzle was fun though.

Well done!

Perfectly Balanced by mhorth 2021-10-04T20:31:08Z

It took me a couple tries to understand how to play, but once I did I really enjoyed this game! The controls are super smooth, amazing for a jam. Also having leaderboards ingame like that is very cool. It's a perfect fit for the theme. It would be nice if the boxes dropped down a bit quicker though, maybe in a separate speed mode or something.

Great job!

Pendulum Postman by mrchip 2021-10-06T10:51:50Z

Very cool game! I really liked the movement, it felt smooth, and I'm a big fan of having 2d sprites in 3d. Got quite stressful at some points, but not too hard. Would have been nice to have some kind of checkpoint system, and a map over the level, but the lack of them did add a healthy amount of challenge.

All round good work!

Super Stable Charger Robot by caudatecoder 2021-10-06T18:31:13Z

Neat little game! I wasn't super sure how everything worked though, but I managed to turn on the big battery and win the game anyway. As far as I understand the R and space tools get turned on and off randomly and you need to work around that.

It could be a bit clearer if the icons for the different tools were displayed on the objects they can interact with in the level. There was some info text at the bottom too, but it became a bit tricky to read when you have a countdown timer you have to play against.

For it being your second jam and first compo ever you did good! Actually finishing a game in that time period is a challenge, well done!

Angry Ape by orangutanrider 2021-10-05T21:53:36Z

Fun game, love the graphics. Those rats are so stupid and deserve to be punched and jumped. It takes a bit to get used to the hold to jump mechanic, a chargeup bar would be nice to have there. Haven't gotten near to the record speedruns, but might try more later! Nice job!

Wickie by detectiveLosos 2021-10-05T21:36:07Z

This game has a really nice mood, wow! I do think I accidentally got softlocked somehow. I managed to show the path for the first person on the radio, then went to sleep. After that the radio was silent and I couldn't turn on the light, even after changing the battery things. Maybe I'm missing something?

Great job on the visuals, it looks super cool!

Wickie by detectiveLosos 2021-10-06T11:01:53Z

@annie-owl Ah, gotcha! I didn't know the basement machine was a refueling station. I thought it activated the canister and started using its power. Maybe it could have had a sign saying what it is, or that once the canister starts glowing it gets automatically ejected signalling it's done. And I think the movement speed could be increased a little bit.

Anyway the game has a really nice atmosphere! Got metro Exodus vibes from hearing the guitar on the radio.

Horsey Bash by jakefriend 2021-10-05T15:10:01Z

This game is so polished, and fun! It's super impressive for a compo game. I especially like the aesthetic, very stylish. I just wish the explosions didn't take 3 health off your life, and that the visible area is so small. But those are just small details that add to the challenge.

Super nice overall!

Crumble by EvokeSoul 2021-10-04T19:05:13Z

I get this error when trying to start the game:

9GxK7cF.png

A Crumbly Planet by kumber 2021-10-17T20:41:46Z

Neat little game! Didn't get the green plushie sadly. It took me a while to realize the crumbly platforms got semi transparent during earthquakes. They could be shown a bit more clearly, especially the bottom ground ones. Maybe you could have a ground dash that shakes crumbly platforms closeby. Had fun playing it, nice job!

Hook Man! by Puszkee 2021-10-04T09:25:18Z

I have the same issue, can't use the hook. I would also like to play it!

Wiggle Bird by SamDemaine 2021-10-04T19:03:02Z

A solid entry! Follows the theme well, and has a good level of challenge with very cute graphics. That last long straight level was surprisinlgy difficult. It would be nice to be able to restart levels a bit faster, without the transition, but that's not really an issue. Nice job!

Instability by R3L0ad1 2021-10-04T19:47:28Z

Nice game! Got to 64. Very stylish graphics, and the audio goes well with it. It's very easy to get into a flow playing it, trying to beat the high score. It would be nice if there was a quicker way to retry, like pressing space again, instead of having to wait for the game over screen to come in. It could be nice if the ropes didn't collide with the player unless you're holding onto them, since you sometimes get stuck in them. But that can be part of the challenge.

Well done!

Crunda by LancesCaterpie 2021-10-04T21:10:08Z

This game feels so good! I really like spinning fast and just slamming into a planet, or flying out into space hoping that I will land somewhat correctly where I want to go. It's a great compo entry, and also fits the theme. It's really juicy and well polished, with a fitting soundtrack and sound effects. Only thing I'm missing is a progress save, or level select.

Great job!

gunstable by torcado 2021-10-04T21:41:03Z

Wow, very nice game! I liked the variety of guns, the sticky bomb and mega beam are cool. They all feel satisfying to shoot. Well polished too!

Also the loadout removal mechanic is neat, remove weaker weapons is essential once the difficulty increases. What a shootfest it becomes! Only thing I can think of that could be better is increasing the item pickup range a bit, but that's just nitpicking.

Great job!

gunstable by torcado 2021-10-05T21:00:56Z

I tried getting a good score, got this:

CCINuMr.png

have you tried getting a highscore?

gunstable by torcado 2021-10-06T13:47:10Z

@torcado I managed to find a very cheesy tactic/exploit to get that score, felt like cheating! It seems like the continuous laser deals damage when you move the mouse (I think?), so if you wiggle it around it'll deal crazy amounts of damage, and since it has unlimited range you can just sweep the floor with it

It will Fall by jeremyfa 2021-10-05T22:14:46Z

Nice game for being made in 24 hours, well done! I like the clean stylish graphics. When stacking carefully I've gotten to 800 points. It fits well with the theme too.

The Escape by Marin0104 2021-10-05T21:16:11Z

Phew, I made it to safety!

G1UAC47.png

A nice game, it has very nice graphics! Only thing I can think of is that the turning speed could be a bit quicker, and that the tiles around the safe zone could be protected from breaking, since otherwise there is a risk of the entrances being exploded making it impossible to win.

Great job!

Interstellar Highway Robbery by Corny 2021-10-06T19:21:15Z

A really cool game! So many different parts, and they all feel very polished. Even without sound the gun feels satisfying to shoot, and I believe it'd be amazing with sound. I think that's the only thing that I miss from this game really, but the lack of it is understandable considering the time limitations. And that you sometime spawn inside a big crate when crashing into a ship, but you can get out of it quite easily. Everything else is spot on. Great job!

Oh, Hello? by itsBoats 2021-10-04T15:40:43Z

Nice game! The conversations were humorous, and having super strength was really empowering.

It was also fun to be able to propsurf, and jump while holding the phone to your feet to levitate.

Good use of the theme!

Hammer Keep by BadPiggy 2021-10-06T14:26:22Z

Nice game, it's really fun! The controls and graphics are well polished. With more enemy types this would make for hours of enjoyment. Once you understand how the controls and enemies work you can just go on forever without dying.

Though it would be nice if the chargeup and dash used the same button, since the dash button doesn't do anything if you aren't moving in a direction.

A solid entry, with fresh badpiggy aesthetics and gameplay!

Friday Ride by vizitas 2021-10-04T20:19:33Z

A fun game, got to 1633 points and ran into a bottle. The hitboxes feel very fair, which is super good in these kinds of games. That's a really strong wind if it can topple whole buildings over. Would be cool with some additional sound effects, like a swooshing noises if you run very close past obstacles. It also fits the theme well.

Good job!

Flat Earth Balancer by KreGames 2021-10-04T19:35:04Z

Nice little game, I enjoyed creating balanced neighborhoods!

Would be nice if there's a timer after placing the last house, to see that it really is balanced, since otherwise you can just quickly place all houses and press next even if the whole is falling off.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Terminal Velocity by mhorth 2022-10-09T17:28:48Z

Yet another fun game with global highscores! The score progression on the left is really cool, and makes it easy to see how far you've gotten on the leaderboards. Gotta try to get to at least top 5 :)

One thing is that I feel like the road curves too much sometimes, so it obscures what's in front of you. In those cases you have almost zero time to dodge obstacles. And the jumping is a bit confusing, does it jump two spaces to the right?

Other than that it's a solid experience, nice job!

I'm Just Hungry by ZwodahS 2022-10-05T13:32:03Z

This was really fun! The snowball effect of getting a lot of powerups is great :). It was fun coming up with tactics on how to get a good run.

I managed to get this score:

okeNKsT.png

There were some parts that felt a bit unfair though

The most important upgrade was the banana, without it you'd be guaranteed to lose quick. Your movement speed really determines how powerful you can become. It would be nice if one banana spawned at least per X fruits. Another option would be to have the movement speed increase slightly with every fruit you pick up, and decrease the speed every time you get hit. My final tactic for the game was to first get a couple bananas for speed, and then always make sure there was at least one banana on the field as an emergency speed boost.

The knights also were a bit unreliable, since their attack speed and range is completely unknown. Many times it just felt like you died for no reason. And the sniper projectiles are super fast, which either means they're only dodgeable by luck.

And the background texture is a bit too noisy, which makes it slightly hard to see projectiles and things. Seeing your total kills at the end would also be fun.

It's a very good game though! I enjoyed it a lot, nice work :)

You Are Not Alone by detectiveLosos 2022-10-04T14:24:40Z

Whoa, the graphics and mood is super cool in this game!

The concept is also interesting, and it was fun to experiment with different strategies. In the end I went to the cockpit and spam pressed E with my first character, and then alternated filling the top and bottom fuel tanks.

The lighting and style is very nice. I really like 2d sprites in 3d environments :)

Nice job!

The Turgenev Study by benjamin 2022-10-05T09:08:56Z

This game is really fun! It took a while to understand everything that was happening, but it really felt like doing an experiment, exploring everything there is. Once I grasped the mechanics it became really captivating. I managed to max every score combo in the grid, and got so much health it was impossible to die between the collecting procedure. The health should probably have a cap as some others mentioned above.

It's so polished, and stylish, with the music matching perfectly. Amazing!

1000 Meters to Shade by PBG 2022-10-03T10:28:00Z

Fun game about trying your luck! Got home after a few tries! The graphics are very unique, really feels like a blazing desert :)

Nice job!

autoball by torcado 2022-10-03T13:34:01Z

This game brings such satisfying moments, and frustrating ones! When you clear the whole board it's so nice, and sometimes the game messes with you by making the ball just go clean through. The sound effects gives it a very solid feeling.

Once you get into it's hard to stop. It's really well designed and polished. And it fits the theme well, nice work!

I got quite far, but then one of the balls got stuck in the bottom left: b

bÀbÀböx X by Kultisti 2022-10-05T11:05:34Z

Wow, this game really puts you in a flow state once you get used to the mechanics! It gets so hectic, but still relatively manageable until the very end. The sound and graphics gives it a very nice feel.

dA0srxx.png

got this score after a few tries :)

The hitboxes for all pickupables feel a bit small though, sometimes it looked like you were just running through them. And when you reach the end game it becomes really hard to see which single block will be spared from destruction, especially when there is so much other stuff going on at the same time.

Great game, and nice job to all of you!

LD54 — Limited Space

On The Edge by mhorth 2023-10-02T16:28:11Z

I liked the mood in this game, felt unnerving with the background noise. I managed to get out!

Nice work!

World Weaver by JUSTCAMH 2023-10-05T11:17:17Z

Wow, this was cool! It took me a while to understand what was happening, it was so rewarding to figure it out. The effects and atmosphere gives it a very magical feeling. I have no idea how you designed the levels đŸ€Ż, the way they weave back and forth is so clever. Fits the theme really well.

Amazing work!

The King is Watching by Tvorojok 2023-10-05T09:44:18Z

This was so much fun! I finally beat it after trying a few times. It took a while to figure out a good pattern of how to place the buildings, and it was rewarding managing to max out your army :) It was well balanced too, not too easy and not impossible. Makes use of the theme really nicely too. Great work!!

Bag Bail! by CorvusBot 2023-10-05T15:40:16Z

Dang, the graphics and audio is incredible! I managed to get out of the bag, phew. I liked the progression with new things falling down in each phase, made it varied. I think it'd be nice if you were able to pick up the coins, instead of them just falling down. I wasn't sure if I was getting points for them or not.

Great work!

Monstrous Search by Rafael Garcez 2023-10-05T15:06:51Z

Surprisingly addicting for how simple the mechanics are! I've been trying to get a 600 for a long time, but it's challenging! I think you need a bit of luck for the high value characters to spawn though :) The online high score really adds to the fun.

Nice work!

SPICE LIMITED by LePeridot 2023-10-05T15:32:50Z

Destroying the planet has never been this relaxing! I had fun getting all the achievements :) The small details with background sounds is a nice touch, adds to the mood. The game fits the theme well too, and is really polished for a jam.

Very nice work!

The Swedish Moose Migration by tsjost 2023-10-02T17:19:48Z

I saved all the meese! The last level was tricky! Good take on the theme, can't go wrong with Àlgvandring :)

windowkill by torcado 2023-10-03T07:07:44Z

Woah, such cool use of windows! You nailed the theme and gameplay mechanics. It's really fun to play too :) Only thing is that getting hurt could be shown more clearly, maybe flashing the background or shaking the window a bit. But other than that it's super solid.

Really well done!!

LD55 — Summoning

Boots Of Summoning by detectiveLosos 2024-04-20T10:25:35Z

Cool shooter game!

I enjoyed running around trying to collect as many damage powerups as possible. I ended up running backwards quite a lot though! After a while I had learned the layout so I didn't have to look much where I was going. Managed to get 50 kills in 3 minutes, at which point there was so many enemies it froze the game

The enemy behavior is neat, being able to charge you from any point of the map jumping over obstacles. Fun lore with the boots too :)

An idea would be that by running in a direction, you're creating a trail. The longer the trail the more dangerous the enemies will be.

Then if you reach the trail limit or manually finish the trail, it'll spawn enemies in the path you've made. You then have to backtrack to the start, not allowed to stray from the path. The more you kill, the more pickups are spawned in the trail creation phase. Still would have to figure out a way to make the trail creation phase engaging though  Excuse the rant, hehe.

It's a solid entry, great work! It's always great to see what you guys create :)

wiz by torcado 2024-04-20T09:28:36Z

Finally got around playing this! It's reaally well designed and polished. The mechanics are intuitive, and controls simple. The risk and reward of doing long attacks is a great idea. It'd be cool to have upgrades that help you do more damage, maybe somehow make it possible to stack lines by going back and forth, multiplying both damage dealt or taken.

Nice work, would love to see it expanded upon!

Summon World by Itskdog 2024-04-20T16:40:39Z

Fun game! I didn't realize at first that I had to kill the villagers, and wasn't sure what to do. But once I understood the goal it was fun! It would have been nice to have some kind of heavily armored unit that could move and destroy the turrets, in the end I spammed wolves to get the populace down, but they still seemed to die really quickly no matter how many they were. I created this power plant to fuel the destruction:

Ludum_Dare_55_BaID3X43h4.png

Great game, and neat take on the theme! Nice work!!

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

FOREST CLEARING by jefvel 2024-10-14T15:46:41Z

@oldtoadpower Thanks! Yeah it's very slow, I had zero time to balance it sadly D: Might fix it in a post jam version :)

@jacobwinters yippiee, thanks for enjoying it!

@fenderbate Thank you! Yeah it is very slow, realized 20 waves was wayy too much, gets repetitive and tedious. I should fix it!

@matt1will Yay, thanks for liking it!

@sid37 Thanks! Hehe yeah, I think I should probably turn off the friendly fire, or change it in some way. They give free meat though!

FOREST CLEARING by jefvel 2024-10-14T15:51:47Z

@docgeraud Thank you!! Yeah, there isn't a lot of content there, 20 rounds was way too much, got a bit repetitive. Glad you enjoyed it though!!

@mreliptik Thanks for playing and liking it! Yeah it's not the easiest to play on touchpad, I'm testing out analog stick controls and it works surprisingly well, might release a post jam version with it!

Goops by Arsvarg 2024-10-10T10:16:50Z

Fun game! Felt like just the right amount of challenge in the puzzles, managed to beat all levels after pondering a while. It took some time to figure out how to reset the characters, and was a bit worried I'd have to restart the game. Great graphics and music too :)

Nice work!

Home place by detectiveLosos 2024-10-16T14:46:47Z

Very cozy game! Feels a bit like walking around that first safe area in Dark Souls 2, solemn and calm. The graphics are very cool, mixing 2d and 3d. The whole world must be 3d modelled, right? It was a bit hard to estimate elevations in some places though, but it wasn't an issue overall.

I found all the things I needed, and put down my camp below the beaver character. Is it possible to get to them in any way? Tried to find a path there for a while but couldn't :(

Super enjoyable as always to see what you guys cook up! Great work!!

Follow ME! by OldToadPower 2024-10-17T07:29:57Z

This was very fun, tiny creatures in a great way! Really enjoyed amassing a troop of these guys. It would be nice if they were a bit faster though, but that's just a nitpick. Super neat for a compo game! I accidentally won the game by walking into the exit, but I think I found every creature before that :)

Great work!!

Gnomania by CaptaiinMz 2024-10-09T11:52:36Z

Fun game! Got rid of all the snow in half an hour or so. The upgrades could need some tweaking though! It's much more effective to have a bunch of level 1 houses rather than a few high level ones. Once I got a big snow shoveling factory up I could really quickly expand and get the snow away. I also managed to soft lock myself in the beginning by building leaves and houses but no mines hehe. Such is the life of gnome village

It fits the theme well, nice work!!

Fun game! Got to wave 21 and got demolished. It's enjoyable to watch the creatures fight, and upgrading them into huge ones. Would be nice with health bars, or give them sad faces at low health, since it's hard to know when to heal them.

Solid game, nice work!!

Fun experience! I had it on in the background, like a city in an aquarium. Got all the upgrades and everyone was happy. The graphics are cute, reminds me of kingdom of loathing.

Nice work!!

LD57 — Depths

Descent by MorePixels 2025-04-09T13:53:16Z

Fun game! Got to 52 points after a few tries. The time gained by getting points might be too much, since it never seemed to go below 50, and you could accidentally die by pressing space while standing still on the ground. Other than that it was a nice experience, with a cool artstyle :) Great work!

Depths of Hell by mediocrity 2025-04-07T12:21:21Z

Fun game, managed to clear the demons! A bit slow in the beginning but once you got the shotgun it became satisfying mowing down everything. Was nice that all the drops on the ground remained between rounds, so you could save health for later :)

Nice work!

Cave Glider by detectiveLosos 2025-04-16T14:57:48Z

Super fun game, finally beat it! S9Fgj5U.jpeg Haven't gotten a no hit run yet though, that sharp left turn at one point is really tricky!

The difficulty and length is just right, and fits the theme very well! At first I felt like checkpoints would be good, but the length of the level doesn't really need it, you get better the more you play :)

Although it'd be nice to have the player cast a shadow downwards, or emit light, to make it easier to see how close you are to the ground and walls.

Great job this time again!!

Cave Glider by detectiveLosos 2025-04-16T15:17:18Z

Update! I managed to do a 0 hit run with the glider, and recorded it here: https://youtu.be/qle8APZQSXo

This was really fun :) Would be great if there were more levels and maybe multiplayer where you could accidentally collide into your cavediver friends hehe

Downstairs by Sn4pi 2025-04-09T23:33:09Z

This game has a very cool mood! Got to the end after some trying. Kept dying in the first stairs since I was jumping. The having to press up is a bit odd, just had to keep it pressed. Other than that it was a nice experience. Nice work!

Deep Dive by mhorth 2025-04-26T00:19:26Z

Fun game! Took me a while to understand I could control the guy once he hit the water (I think?), kept dying at first but managed to land a few jumps :) Nice work!

Ruinous Depths by AStrayRae 2025-04-09T12:03:17Z

Fun idler game, played it until it broke I think heh. At least the party got unlimited gold, mission succeeded!

Nice work :)

Break The Tower by torcado 2025-04-26T00:23:29Z

Waow, super well designed game! It just keeps giving and evolving! Managed to get all upgrades (I think) and found the guys. Answers the question what breakout would be if it actually was breakout. I like that the upgrades change the way you play the game, starting with playing carefully, then bouncing the ball to shoot lasers, and finally just slamming through everything. Really impressive how much stuff you managed to put into it!

Nice work!

Orbital Cleanup by detectiveLosos 2025-10-12T20:44:46Z

Interesting game! Haven't managed to clean everything up yet, but might try more later. Would be nice if the junk got stuck a bit more powerfully, I managed to throw all my collected things away quite a few times! Fits the theme well too!

(No game for me this jam sadly, bad timing of getting sick!)
