LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Haven by William Bundy 2017-12-04T14:11:32Z

90% of time I had no clue what I was doing. Guess that serves me right for not reading the starting screen and welcoming every single person that came near me. But hey, at least I found some wood on the way.

I don't think your game's quite fit for me with all the frantic clicking and hyperlight reading, but (for what it's worth) I still think that it's a pretty good and complex game, especially for one made in 48 hours.

I'd say switching up some of the text for icons would make it way more readable and accessible.

A Platformer for Ants by Elendow 2017-12-04T22:41:57Z

A good idea and great execution! Give it a bit more dungeons and add a tiny bit of story and you've got a pretty good game on your hands (not the jam kind, the regular kind) Also, I swear I heard that backing track somewhere before... what is it?

Monuments by Corny 2017-12-04T13:24:33Z

Update: Uploaded a .zip to Gamejolt; I can't figure out how to port it to Mac through GM:S, I'll try making a HTML5 port though. Might consider making a tutorial or at least an instruction manual booklet-thingy because it seems as though it's a bit too confusing for new players

Monuments by Corny 2017-12-04T13:38:44Z

Yeah, I noticed that one after the deadline :/ And thanks :)

Monuments by Corny 2017-12-04T13:57:53Z

Yeah, the font is especially hard to read when combined with the king's yellow or the peasants' teal. That's a huge mess-up on my behalf.

As for the instructions part I figured the "how to play" button would be enough but maybe I was too faithful in people thinking they'd actually click the thing. I also think that my absolute lack of skill in explaining things in-game was the final nail in the coffin for the game's understandability.

Huge thanks for the feedback, man! Cheers!

Monuments by Corny 2017-12-05T12:16:46Z

Huh. Never really considered such a situation.

Let's just say once your village ASCENDS the king gets ressurected.

There. Now it's all intended behaviour. Thanks for the feedback man!

Shape Invasion by RonanRory 2017-12-04T14:02:48Z

The background is a huge pain on the eyes, but the idea and premise is nice

Let's mix some drinks! by Sintel 2017-12-04T13:16:30Z

LD44 — Your life is currency

Assault on Crown Archipelago by aurel 2019-05-21T18:27:43Z

Ho-ly-crap! I'm convinced you just took some obscure collectathon game from 2004 and put it out as your entry... I mean there's no way anyone could make a game so polished in just three days, right?!

It's got it all, great music, great graphics and tight controls! I don't even know what to critique here (granted I only played through the Smugglers' Cove since so many people submitted their games on my post and there's so little time)

I will be back though, and I will give you some more feedback once I'm through with all the other games.

My first impression, though? It's just amazing!

Limberman by krasse 2019-04-30T10:12:18Z

I encountered a bug where if you sell your legs, exit the shop and then re-buy them when standing below a wall you get stuck inside said wall. Kind of annoying. Had to crawl through a bit of the level legless not to get stuck again. But the idea is pretty fun and I had a mild chuckle when selling my limbs. Protip to other players: don't sell both your hands when you wanna shoot guns!

JUNO by DeathBySnail 2019-04-29T20:02:39Z

I'm not a big asteroids man, but darn is this game entertaining! The tight controls, the old-school graphics and great sound design make for an unforgettable experience. I wish I could make such a simple and straightforward yet so entertaining game in the next compo. Great job!

Hell's Garden by King Kujito 2019-05-21T17:07:30Z

At the beginning the gameplay was a bit confusing, but then I got the hang of it - planting my little hellish garden was seemingly a very soothing experience... which the music contradicted really hard! Especially when the guitars and drums went off, that caught me completely off guard! Gave me a laugh, not gonna lie.

The one problem that I had with the game is that the controls could use some polishing. Well, that and some more user friendly tutorial/explanation stuff.

Hell's Garden by King Kujito 2019-05-21T17:48:19Z

@king-kujito my main gripe is the abundance of control schemes - having to switch between moving mode and planting mode. Same with having to use the mouse to navigate around the inventory and nothing else, so you end up having to switch between multiple (albeit similar) control schemes: one to have Death move, one to plant stuff and another to shop for seeds and move the sliders around. Switching between them felt a bit clunky. You should make it more streamlined.

Here's how I'd personally do it:

Have holding rightclick on the mouse switch to "planting mode" (currently the Q toggle) with Death facing the mouse cursor and leftclick planting seeds. Releasing rightclick goes back to "walking mode". Also, time speed-up could be a keyboard toggle, maybe the Q button since it doesn't have have a use now?

I think you get the gist here, make the controls more uniform throughout the game, with less switching around that should make the experience way more immersive and thus better for new players

But that's just my two cents, who am I, a game designer?

(No. The answer to that is no)

Heart Miner by Corny 2019-04-29T09:10:17Z

@chuckeles I'll try exporting it as a browser version. I think that'll work on OSX, don'tcha think?

Heart Miner by Corny 2019-04-29T09:33:05Z

@derpylz Is the frustration coming from the sticking-to-the-walls mechanic mayhaps? Because if so then don't worry, it's all unintended and I just didn't have enough time to fine-tune it. I think it's serviceable for the bare basics, isn't it?

Heart Miner by Corny 2019-04-29T10:06:17Z

@lukas-tamayo Woah, now that's some QUALITY feedback, thank you very much! I didn't really plan out anything that's in the game, since I only had around 24 hours (I started making one project on day 1, then scrapped it and reused the assets to make this). I's unpolished, clunky at times, and unfinished in other places, but I'm so glad you and everyone else sorta enjoyed it anyway! And honestly, even if my game got 0 ratings or all negative ones I'd still be proud of that procedural generation. This was the first time I ever got it to work right, too!

Also, @chuckeles, If you're still up for playing, I did include F5 as a "panic button" that teleports you straight to the exit door for half your heart shards, just in case a level is not finishable. You don't need to pick up all the hearts in a level to continue, just enter the door and go right back in to the mines if you want to!

Heart Miner by Corny 2019-05-04T20:41:25Z

@yukimiitsuka The most unbelievable thing about this screenshot is the fact that you somehow lost 1 HP! If you still feel like playing, F5 is a "panic button" that teleports you right to the exit, just in case something like this happens. But it's been a day already so I'm not gonna be surprised if you don't, tbh

Heart Miner by Corny 2019-05-21T18:07:14Z

@duke Weird, seems like the gained hearts didn't register, I suppose It might have something to do with a known bug - when you die to a Mole there's a window of opportunity where you can teleport back to the base and continue playing, even though your health is 0. That also makes you invincible.

So it's either that or you didn't have enough heart containers... which is kinda impossible since the first range-up costs only 2 hearts. Weird!

Or maybe the heart containers didn't render for you for some reason? So many possibilities...

Still, I noted that, thanks for the feedback!

Heart Miner by Corny 2019-05-21T19:56:01Z

@dis0rder As for the processor issues, this was my first time ever doing procedural generation. Since I made that game I've been hooked on making these generators and I've already decreased the drain quite a bit. If I ever make a postmortem version of the game I'll make sure to optimize it, don't you worry!

Also, I'm very glad you liked it!

And by "it" I mean both the game AND the panic-button, of course.

The Curse of Jen-Rah by AtomFox0213 2019-05-21T19:49:03Z

All it needs is some sort of choice system and BOOM, you've got the new TellTale blockbuster!

In all seriousness though, my main gripe would be that the font was kinda hard to read. Well, that and the general lack of gameplay. Other people may enjoy storytelling-type games, but these things just aren't my cup of tea (that won't affect my rating though)

The graphics were nice though, as well as the story itself. Overall, a promising start but it just isn't my cup of tea.

Idle Idol by Daniel Moreno 2019-04-29T23:21:13Z

Amazing! The game is very polished, it plays like butter... It barely feels like it was made in 48 hours. I am truly amazed by your skills and I hope I get anywhere close your level some day!

Life Merchant by Webox 2019-05-21T18:15:31Z

Such a simple concept, yet you executed it so well! The time-traveling mechanic reminds me of LoZ Oracle of Ages. The puzzles are quite snappy and don't require much thought, but they do make you stop and think, even if only for a second or two. Even though I blazed through the game very quickly, I liked it all the way through. Good job!

Orcan Harvest by Mathstr0fficial 2019-05-21T18:00:15Z

The idea and execution were on point, I like the atmosphere that the whistling-- I mean WIND gives to the game. The colors were a little bit too dark for my tastes, but even then they did add to the feel. I felt an odd need to rush things while playing, even though there was no point in doing that. Weird, isn't it?

There's not really that much to say about this one, just a mechanically simple game that doesn't overstay its welcome and manages to fit under the theme quite well. Good job!

Sidenote, what's with the white flashy-boom-boom stuff? Is that supposed to be thunderbolt and lightning? Cause it is very very frightening me!

Lost Hearts by gustavo.christino 2019-05-21T19:24:00Z

This one's real barebones... it's a start allright, but the finish line's just too far - I don't wanna sound rude but in this current state I don't know if I can call it a game... Ok, sure, it's got platforming and MENACING WOLVES that push you around WITH MALICE but I feel like it's just missing too much. Don't stop working on it though, I bet you'll get there in the end!

SpaceQuest by Simone 2019-05-21T17:18:37Z

I'm a sucker for top-down shooters so my review might be a bit biased, but this was a really fun experience! The player starts a bit sluggish in my opinion, but a single speed upgrade was all I needed to counter that. The enemies felt fair (the big cannon-boss-thingy had a couple too many damage ticks in its attack, but that's a good punishment for not avoiding it). The music... was there, and that's all I can say in that regard. I didn't really mind it, but it didn't improve the overall mood too much. Overall, it was a pleasant game and a great execution of the top-down genre!

Self Surgeon by chuckeles 2019-04-29T23:57:51Z

Now this idea is very unique! Some levels overwhelmed me with the amount of red cells, but aside from that I enjoyed this one a lot. I'll be honest - when playing it I forgot this was a jam game and played it for half an hour straight trying to beat the torso level...

The Joy of Creationism with God Ross by AndideBob 2019-04-29T20:27:52Z

I got Bob Ross vibes while playing this which, honestly, was kind of expected from a game with a title like that! The voice of God Ross was almost as smooth as the smooth jazz playing in teh background, and the visuals also helped me relax. There isn't much to this game in terms of gameplay, sure, but it works really well as an experience!

Lifestream by Manus 2019-05-21T18:40:24Z

The visuals are quite magical! I didn't quite see the connection with the theme here (except for the naming conventions and the final statement after beating the game) but that didn't stop me from being kinda impressed! The simple premise and equally simple controls make this a very good jam game. Honestly, I could see a game like this being popular on mobile devices.

God All Smitey by SundanceKid 2019-04-29T11:00:07Z

And God got his cookie in the end...

Great game, smiting those mortals was a lot of fun, them killing me - not so much. The whole arsenal of scepters was great - every single one feeling unique and fun in its own special way.

Overall, I give it a 25/17

NEOLITE by Extrone 2019-05-21T17:35:48Z

The game looks very, very good. The gameplay is painfully simple, though. The bots just crowding up in one spot and running after you coupled with the fully automated pistol makes the gameplay boil down to kiting, since you can easily outrun them and they have no ranged attacks. Having the player be able to repeat the wave and farm health also weakens the challenge tenfold. Overall it's a good concept, it's got good graphics and fitting music, but it's set back by way too little challenge.

Beyond the Slot by Beebo Studios 2019-05-01T22:53:53Z

Every single pun hurt my soul more and more. But hey - that's just my two cents :stuck_out_tongue:

World Trader by timbs 2019-04-29T09:57:06Z

A very interesting take on the "HOLY CRAP EVERYTHING'S HAPPENING SO FAST" genre.

I've gotta say, I suffered from a minor case of information overload when picking all the different options. When in doubt I always went to pick up more chicken wings. People died, sure, but at least I had my wings. Another detail that bugged me a little bit was the game window. I think it'd be much more playable if it wasn't vertical. But maybe that's just me.

Overall - very enjoyable wings, thanks

Purple Dimension by XCVZXC 2019-04-29T09:53:29Z

Now this game was fun! A simple premise - climb the tower and shoot purple dudes while roided up with all the upgrades from Scientist McExposition. I found that it's easy to cheese it by standing on the stairs while shooting bad guys on the other level. At least until the flies show up. Overall, it fit the theme and it was a fun experience, if a little repetitive.

The music could get a little bit annoying after a while, though. But it's toggleable, so it's all forgiven

Soulbound by Dovakla 2019-05-21T19:32:17Z

I like this one a whole lot! You managed to make your game so complex for a jam game, it's always a breath of fresh air compared to all the other simple, quick games. The combo of sprites and 3D environment, octopath-style, I dig that a lot too! The only problem I have with this is that the demons that join you start leeching off your health the moment you get a pact with them, even though they're mostly useful out in the field. Another thing that was a minor annoyance was that there was no way of skipping dialogues. That got really annoying to sit through, especially with my health draining away. Overall, a good concept, ripe to be expanded on even more!

Curfe by Kajetan Andrzejak 2019-04-29T23:27:42Z

Now THIS is a simple game. And yet it feels much more finished than a lot of other games I played. The whole idea of an exchange graph being my character here cracks me up a little bit. The powerups were clear and descriptive (maybe except for Thanos, mostly because nothing happened after I picked that up, could just be a glitch or unfortunate RNG though)

Bloodletter by shp 2019-04-30T09:43:45Z

Now this was a fun experience! The controls were tigth, the shotgun was satisfying to use (the lack of a reload button was kinda odd, but it's not that big of a deal). The slow-mo mechanic was really interesting as well and definitely worked nicely when trying to fight huge hordes of those cultists. Overall a very fun game. Well done!

American Healthcare by Abraxas Interactive 2019-04-29T22:58:47Z

Yet another piece of proof that I'm a sucker for eye candy. The game could use some sound effects for sure, though.

Danger In The Snow by omercanbalandi 2019-04-29T22:30:18Z

A pretty good strategy game - easy to pick up but hard to master. I've got to admit, I didn't beat it, got stuck around level 5 because of all the enemies just being too tough to handle! It's either because my strategizing skills aren't that great or the balance is off. Or maybe both, who knows. The music isn't half bad, and so are the sprites. A pleasant experience overall!

The Bounty Hunter by dk5000p 2019-05-21T18:46:51Z

Aww, it doesn't seem to register my voice (it might be due to the fact that my microphone is garbage)... Which is a huge shame because I was really hyped to play this one, the concept alone seems so fresh!

The Bounty Hunter by dk5000p 2019-05-21T19:22:25Z

@dk5000p Yeah, it did start and I made sure my mic was set up correctly... It does add a hearty bit of noise to everything I say and it records extremely quietly (even when the levels are turned up to the max) so I wouldn't blame that on your game

Deliver Us 2 Evil by kemp 2019-04-29T22:32:29Z

This was a very confusing experience. But in a good way. I'm glad the surveyors now know my mother's maiden name and my first pet's name. A small price to pay for a chance to run over some people with that sweet car with those square friggin tires!

Bloodlust by Danga 2019-04-29T22:38:41Z

Add some more environments, keyboard support and some way to tell when the enemies are shooting and you've got yourself a game I'd probably buy for real world money! Amazing job!

Bloodia by Sebastien Bourgeois 2019-04-30T13:24:22Z

I personally found the game to be kinda slow. The camera panning only when you got to the very border of the screen was also a bit annoying, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the gameplay. The graphics were pretty, if a bit simplistic, but coupled with the music and overall mood they fit pretty well together! I'm still kinda impressed that this kinda stuff is possible to make just on a regular ol' iPad!

Heart and Soul by devbat8712 2019-04-29T22:52:35Z

Now that's an interesting take on the town building genre. The title screen sure didn't lie - it is the dark souls of city sims! I really liked how all the text (except for the self-care minigame) was hand written - it gave the game a nice, casual feel. Which completely doesn't match the CARNAGE that's going on on my keyboard while playing it! The whole townbuilding aspect got me confused - how exactly should I keep the people happy and employed when my town has a 100% crime rate? Ah, I'll figure it out later. Overall, the idea has potential and the base game is kinda fun but it has a long way to go!

Bonus points for that self-care minigame though, everything about it is perfect!

Adventures of Crimson Warlock by Nisanick 2019-04-29T22:21:48Z

An interesting fighting system and a nice random map generator. The lack of healing potions during my runs made it harder to get through, but it was fun nonetheless. During all my travels I couldn't seem to find any merchants, either. Are their spawn rates that low?

Weapon Draw by Niteb 2019-04-29T19:56:09Z

Your comment on my game reminded me that I never gave you feedback on yours, would ya look at that!

The concept is pretty nice, the randomised weapons are a very fresh and interesing idea, which could work really well in a full-fledged game if changed just a little bit, although it works just fine in the context of this one!

If you're planning to work on this game and to make a post-compo version, my suggestion would be to make gambling more hearts for weapons more of a risk/reward situation - the more hearts you give the better (on average) weapons you get. Another thing I'd add would be some images of enemies on the card you draw to start a new wave, but that's just a little graphical touch, nothing more.

Overall, I had a lot of fun with this game and I see a lot of potential to expand upon the core concept here!

Undercave by NoobException 2019-04-29T10:27:05Z

Now this is a game with MOOD.

I found it a little bit confusing that enemies steal your FOOD, but I guess it makes sense since there is no "health" stat to speak of. I starved to death many, many times. Sometimes with help, sometimes without it. I found that it's hard to find extra food items, but that just may be me being bad at the game? Who knows. The environment could use a lot more work, but I don't think that's worth mentioning since it's more of a personal preference.

Overall, what the game lacks in graphics it makes up with MOOD, and I love that it does!

Angry Planet by grllle 2019-04-29T10:37:50Z

So relaxing! I really enjoyed shaking those little people off the bottom of the planet - hearing their little screams of anguish was very satisfying. Shaking the clouds and smiting them also felt very good. And the sound design and artstyle only solidified my opinion about this game being a great, if a bit sadistic experience. But it's for the good of the planet, so I'll let it slide.

Mortal: the fate of cells by pwroff 2019-04-29T11:35:22Z

You stretched the theme a bit, but the game still matches it pretty well! The blood cell mission was way more fun than the neuron one, mostly because the neuron was floaty and hard to control reliably. The simple graphics with a minimalistic sound design really helped set the mood - you pulled that off quite well!

Life for Likes by FM Studio 2019-04-29T10:34:14Z

My life was worth 44 likes. But at least I snagged a wicked sweet selfie with a spider!

The game was a lot of fun, I laughed about 50% of my total playtime! The idea was great, the graphics were great, the music fit the tone... What's not to lov-- LIKE about this one?

The Last Drop by Fiiction 2019-04-30T09:58:54Z

I sunk a bunch of time into this one! The gameplay was rewarding and fun, shooting enemies felt good, although the trees' hitboxes seemed a bit odd at first. Me dying was completely my fault every time - nothing about the gameplay felt unfair. Coupled with pretty good backing tracks for both day and night and I can safely say that this is a little hidden gem among those other games. Bravo!

Passold by Cyrolis 2019-04-29T10:44:11Z

As everyone else said - the tutorial scrolls by way too fast! I got the hang of what was going on pretty quickly though. The upgrades being just icons also confused me for a moment - the double jump made sense, the shield too, but I still had no idea what the first one did. The gameplay is very meatboy-esque, which I'm not a big fan of, but you executed it pretty well. Overall, the game could use a lot more text, because the icons don't do the job well enough, as well as a tutorial that doesn't scroll on its own.

LD 44 Currency is life for Ricardo by Week of the agents 2019-04-29T10:11:42Z

I knew the title... I knew the goal... But the ending screen still caught me off guard!

It took me a while to realise that there's more to the map than just the carrot and pant ladies. The policeman who asks for 30 coins never made me GTFO, so you might wanna look into that.

Overall, that's a small game but it gets the job done! The job being fitting the theme and being fun, of course. Bonus points for Ricardo

LD45 — Start with nothing

There were 8 hours left and I decided I wanted to participate after all by Corny 2019-10-08T07:56:16Z

@goldenglade Thanks for the extensive feedback! I am planning to greatly expand upon this project, so it's great to get comments such as this one. Do you have any thoughts on the level generator, perchance? That's a part I'd like to work on a lot, so I'd like to hear everyone out on it

There were 8 hours left and I decided I wanted to participate after all by Corny 2019-10-09T15:01:35Z

@solwllms I've been trying to make a nice feeling platformer for ages now and I've written that player code SO. MANY. TIMES. that I could swear it was muscle memory at this point!

But I do concede that during day 1 I DID work on a different game before I gave up. Then 8 hours pre-deadline I decided that I can't just give up like that, took and recolored some sprites and copied some assets from it for my second attempt (a.k.a. this one)

So yeah, that title might be a bit of a stretch, since in reality I worked on the jam for like... 16 hours total, maybe? It's just that the first project got scrapped to bits and this one rose from its ashes right before the time was up, like some sort of gamedev phoenix

Doors by N4tticus 2019-10-29T18:07:15Z

Amazing game! A refreshing mechanic and quite the challenge, especially since you can't control the crew members' movements. I made it about three fourths of the way to the end, but my failure didn't stop me from having a lot of fun. Great job!

Building Keys by boats 2019-10-09T12:33:37Z

That's a very out-of-the-box game! I liked the tactical aspect, as well as the eccentric controls. It was a bit confusing at the beginning, but I got the hang of it in the end. My only gripe is that he end goal takes a while to get to. Overall, I loved this one!

Deer Game by kantieno 2019-10-29T18:14:05Z

The self-discovery element that determines your attacks is a really cool idea, although the boss fight was a bit hard. It let me explore different attack combos and strategies, though! Shame about the lack of sound, but other than that it was a very nice experience.

Flappy Bat by Druvsaft 2019-10-09T11:41:20Z

This one's not the freshest take ever, seeing how at its core it IS a clone of flappy bird, but the echolocation mechanic manages to give it some original flair. Overall I enjoyed it - my highscore is only 10, though!

A_semblance by D1gital Cuts 2019-10-08T07:36:22Z

I loved this one! Pretty graphics, satisfying controls, stellar music and a challenge that feels fair... What's not to love?

The only thing I'd change is make the lights in the background less bright - right now their brightness makes it a little bit harder to concentrate on the character. A setback like that won't stop me from giving this one a 5-star rating! I give those out rarely, but you deserve it

Fetch Quest by shaner421 2019-10-08T17:11:04Z

A pleasant minigame compilation! I dig the main character's running animation and the games are quick, if not a bit simplistic. The main hub looks cool, I really like the 2d billboarded sprites mixed in with the 3d environment. One thing I noticed is that the music tends to cut out during the minigames. I also managed to break the cooking game by picking up a patty with the bun in hand... Didn't expect that at all tbh. Still, a pleasant game, for what it's worth

Soulless by Nithin 2019-10-08T07:03:23Z

It felt great to be blessed with the power of legs! Very thoughtful of you to add music as an optional pickup. I noticed that the "hands" powerup is active regardless of whether you actually picked it up or not. Either that or your platforming is seriously "sticky", if you catch my drift.

Swift Snake by darkcmd 2019-10-08T06:29:23Z

An interesting concept, but I don't quite get the mechanics. What kills me and what doesn't, why the snake is so unexpectedly stiff, what the colorful letters do as opposed to the hashes... So many questions, so little time! I DID play it multiple times though, which is a good sign!

Global Warming Is Coming by Odeyalko 2019-10-08T18:14:42Z

Only thing I have a gripe with as of now is the lack of indication how much wood you need to build the raft. That and maybe some kinda hint where to find the axe, cause i would've almost never thought of looking where I did.

It's funny how you die as soon as your soles touch the water, it's like "Oh no, a puddle" BOOM you're dead now. If it was up to me, I'd make the player die once their head (or camera I guess) is submerged.

Colorless by FallingFlatStudios 2019-10-08T17:31:29Z

The movement was kinda slow and the colours were draining rapidly, but I made it! That was the most intense half-minute of my life! The game is a bit basic, but it delivers on its promises, which is great. The first time i finished a level was a bit jarring - I didn't expect my character to EXPLODE VIOLENTLY, but I just went with it. As another user pointed out already, the 2nd level was WAY too easy. You gotta work on your level designing skills, to pump out more levels in a short amount of time. Anyway, it's still a very nice entry for a first-timer. Hoping to see more stuff from you in the future!

Rush, Fumble, and Chomp (play in browser!) by David Shire 2019-10-08T16:27:24Z

For a first-time submission, this is pretty good! The base is there, you got some music, thesound effects were allright as well, if not a bit loud. The flytrap controls a bit clunkily - I'm not a big fan of ice level physics, although it kinda fits since it's literally a potted plant jumping. The slipperiness doesn't lend itself too well to the overall gameplay, since the main objective is to dodge and eat flies - two things requiring some degree of precision. The wait time right in the beginning is a bit long, feels kinda awkward, like it's a bit too much. But overall, again, it's not too shabby for a first time game!

Circuit Сube by Doger__Man4 2019-10-08T17:17:51Z

Hah, look at that, everyone already said what I was going to say... It's so darn hard! I could see it getting a following of fans, since it's got those Osu or Geometry Dash vibes. One thing I'd change (that hight just make it a bit easier for beginners) is add a faint circle on the path that the square is spinning on - that would make it way clearer and more apparent as to how it will behave during the level. I love the harmonization though, I always love when games sync their SFX to the music somehow!

BNA Crystal Power by aDeCon 2019-10-08T18:01:27Z

The progression feels a bit slow and it's really easy to just cheese it at the beginning by spamming LMB - enemies can't get you no matter how hard they try! Other than that, it's a good start to something, but right now it's more on the "meh" side for me, but that might be because it was just a bit boring to wait even for the first boss. Take my review with a grain of salt, I might come back to this one and give it another shot later down the line!

Memories of Eleph by Leandroc 2019-10-08T17:25:15Z

The feel of this game is just great. It's calm, yet very tense at the same time. The theme of losing memories (and yourself, as suggested by the bar) also fits very, very well. The snippets of Eleph's role are a great touch too. Coupled with a lot of white and other light colors it all adds up to a very nice experience. Some parts could use some work, because slow puzzles don't mix too well with timers of impending doom.

Exit Nothing by Brice Mahier 2019-10-08T18:04:57Z

Okay, this is some good mental gymnastics. I like the play on the theme - you really do start with nothing! Now you just have to make something outta nothing... I'm having a hard time here, even though it seemed so simple at first!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Keeping SNES Alive! by drludos 2020-04-22T17:56:43Z

Extra points for making a game for the SNES, new games for old consoles always so awesome to see!

Efi by ludipe 2020-04-20T16:56:41Z

I've never seen quite a game like this, it's a lot of fun while also keeping it challenging. The level design is good too, and the graphics, and the music... The only thing I'd rate low here is the theme, because it's kind of a stretch, but other than that a flawless game! I'd consider buying it if you expanded on the idea!

Tumble Baby by 01010111 2020-04-20T16:20:15Z

As a previous commenter said, the hardest stage ended up being the title screen!

An amazing concept, great execution, I didn't encounter any bugs on my playthrough, the music was fitting, the sound effects too... Simply amazing!

Turbogotchi! by joemag 2020-04-20T17:20:50Z

I had way more fun with this than I thought I would and I dunno if it's just nostalgia or the high-octane tamagotchi action that made it so. Great, if not a bit simplistic entry! Would pat-pat all 6 of them again

Mark by Corny 2020-04-20T18:16:05Z

@joskerdu I exported the game to HTML5 so that it's easier to play it for non-Windows peeps!

Battery Panic by HacksawUnit 2020-04-20T17:13:29Z

It took me a moment or two to figure out the efficient way to do things, but once I did it was so great - so much game juice and polish! I can't get enough of this electric Tetris goodness!

Embers by Anuke 2020-04-20T16:44:22Z

I was honestly a bit disappointed with this game - the art is amazing, the music is also great and fitting, the premise is good, but... There was no endgame to be had, no goal. I was very bummed out about that, because it made the entire experience feel kinda hollow. It's a good survival sandbox though!

Don't Kill Death (Or Die Trying) by MadeByChaz 2020-04-22T18:49:17Z

I hope I get to a point where my game can feel as complete and fun as this one does! It's got an amazing vibe and a great artstyle that reminds me of Behemoth and old Ed McMillen games!

...And it's your first shot at a jam?! WOW, just wow! This is the game I'll probably remember best from Ludum Dare 46

DI(e)NO(t) by Thibaud Ligneul 2020-04-20T15:48:08Z

I really like how the dinos wear different hats depending on the times they're in. Classy!

I love the graphical design, and you executed the concept you had in mind pretty well.

The thing that bugged me though is that I didn't really notice the energy meter that dinos had, and it isn't really mentioned anywhere, so for the first couple of moments I was convinced that something was broken - i was holding LMB and yet the dinos had minds of their own! I ended up figuring it out later though, so it's all good.

Shape Select! by frances 2020-04-29T15:56:57Z

The only thing that bugged me was that some colors were too similar to others in different lighting - other than that, a great game, I had a lot of fun playing it!

Egg Defender by SanicSpeedGames 2020-04-20T16:12:47Z

It's a good start but it leaves a lot to ask for. The thing I found most lacking is feedback - I never knew if I was hitting the enemies and didn't know where they were unless I looked directly at them. You're on the right track though, keep doing what you're doing!

MEGADRILL by Corny 2021-04-26T13:46:26Z

@windzyboy @5you @fixxel So sorry, I didn't even check if everything worked then fell asleep (you might recall the "it's 4 am, i'll write later" description), everything's in place now - or at least should be!

MEGADRILL by Corny 2021-04-26T14:03:33Z

@rs11s21n Yup, noted in the known bugs section, should be fixed in a jiffy

MEGADRILL by Corny 2021-04-26T14:35:13Z

@anuke

Ah yeah I should've written that down in the description

The number next to the bombs is the amount of FREE bombs - you get 5 of those those whenever you enter a new mining area. Extra bombs cost 2 metal each. You can't have more than 100 metal, thus the bar.

As for the 5 bombs inside the drill - noted, I'll make it less confusing

Interstellar Highway Robbery by Corny 2021-10-04T06:42:09Z

@neverwinsthegame

I'll see what I can do to make sure nobody else has these kinds of problems. Thanks a lot for playing by the way!

EDIT: turns out that's just how Game Maker compresses larger games to fit in a standalone .exe, go figure

Interstellar Highway Robbery by Corny 2021-10-05T08:58:37Z

@kwiper To say that I'm incredibly flattered is an understatement, thank you so much for donating! I'll add your suggestion on my to-do list!

@badpiggy The map idea is actually something I thought about - I didn't have enough time to add it, though. Still, it's on the to-do list as well!

A version with temporary minimal SFX as well as some minor tweaks (like removing the one crate you can get stuck inside in the green ship) will be coming in a day or two, separate from the on-time version ofc!
