Mechanics aren't very well communicated in the game itself, but fine after reading them elsewhere. at first I just kept swiping blocks everywhere which also works. music was very good
Very hard to land anything, when it happened it felt like pure luck! the controls themselves are nice but something about the physics feel odd. regardless, cool entry, fun concept!
Forces you to think outside the box, very nice!
I'm not sure if I get the idea, just crafted stuff using the blocks I have but more clear goals would be nice! I think you could do quite a lot with the mechanics you already have in. one thing missing is background music as well, would fit nicely in a game like this!
Cool simple visuals, tight controls too!
Points for the charming 3d and the intro, other than that the game is a bit awkward to play because of the controls/camera, and the long distances you need to move. Still, well done
Very nice puzzle game, good amount of levels too!
Very nice visuals, I can tell it's not your first time doing pixel art! I like the style of gameplay as well, quick restarts so death isn't painful!
Well done with the music and the visuals!
Controls area bit unintuitive, makes it kinda hard to move before falling through! almost wish you could just move the cursor where you want to move without worrying about rotation
This is fairly brilliant, the way the level design makes you go back through existing areas but in a very different context after growing is excellent. the visuals and sound are deceptively simple
Nice visuals especially for your own engine, respect! the mouse input needs to be ironed out a little bit though, very choppy for me!
@jharler framerate seemed smooth, I have r9 290
@jharler it's a wired zowie fk with no custom software/drivers at all, so it should be as standard as it gets. 500hz polling rate, on win8.1
The animations and the feel for the game is very nice, visuals also fit the style!
Fun little game, shooting stuff while running just felt nice, the short music loop also worked surprisingly well! I just hope the difficulty would've ramped up more as the game goes on!
I like the feeling of hurrying to do the minigames as fast as possible, the music was quite enjoyable too.
Simple but a good idea, wish the screen was bigger with more detail so I could see myself better and line up with the enemies!
Nice entry, I kinda wish the ship had instant acceleration/deceleration like in pretty much all shmups, but it still plays relatively well! the music was quite enjoyable despite being loud!
Very nice use of retro graphics, gives the game a nice feel, I like the variety of obstacles from all directions, really ramps up the gameplay! High scores was also a nice addition!
the game could be much faster as others said, sound effects would also take it on another level!
The controls are so touchy in this, very hard to get the nag of it! not sure if that's where the challenge was intended to come from! the visuals are quite nice!
Liked the music, gameplay reminded me of the classic elite, except it plays way less clunky!
Very literal interpretation of the theme, fun little game! some sound would be nice and not getting stuck in the geometry so easily!
ah man, the intro was so good but the game itself was nothing like it, got tricked!
Nice visuals and audio, definitely good atmosphere. The controls are a bit tough because of the inertia.
now this is a fun concept! some sound would be nice, especially as an indicator to hurry up as the room is getting too small (which could be slightly slower too)
Woah, an actual NES homebrew, awesome! maybe next time I'll make a PSP game instead :) Well done!
The controls could use more work, x and y on keyboard is very awkward. the music and the visuals fit nicely together, although I don't know what I'm doing stacking crates below a nightclub!
Interesting idea for the controls, haven't seen a match 3 game like this before! a bit unintuitive at first though
Gameplay was pretty good, very hard to predict where the blocks will move when they go out of the way when you move another one, which was a bit annoying, but other than that it was fine. the visuals serve their purpose but the audio forced me to lower the volume a lot
Moving around was nice and relaxing, getting one of the basics right is always good!
Good concept, the UI kinda holds back the game but it was enjoyable regardless
Not bad at all, although I feel like the gimmick hurts the gameplay more than anything, having movement speed change so suddenly as you move from black to white or vice versa throws my dodge off at least. the music is very nice
I wish the dying/restarting was way faster! that way I wouldn't mind making mistakes so often
A blockland mod? I played the crap out of that game back in the day! I remember a mod kinda like that but I can't remember the name of it!! there was so many really good mini-games/mods for that game, thanks for bringing up memories!
also the game plays nicely
@denneledoe yes! creeper mod, that's it! played it back in 2007 or 2008 or whenever the game was still fresh, good time...
I don't want to say the concept is too fun because of the subject matter, but regardless it's an interesting take and the gameplay works with it!
Very difficulty but thankfully restarting is instant!
Nice graphics, the jetpack is a bit hard to control but maybe that's the point!
Quite a funny idea, well done with the game!
Very nice music, gameplay had good ideas behind it, the simple visuals kinda make it hard to identify different elements in the game and the controls could use a bit more polish (getting a bit stuck on walls, rotating through ship types and their abilities isn't obvious), well done overall!
a bit hard to understand if you're doing things right or not when trying for the first time! clear indicators for success/failure would be nice. the music was very catchy!
Cool little game, had to try a few times to get the hang of it, the indicator going around the screen looks cool but is kinda hard to read.
Great sound and music! the running animation for the guy also looks like you put a lot of effort into it! the gameplay itself is a bit basic though and takes a while to ramp up
The controls for the forklift were nice, game itself starts out way too slow though.
Interesting take on the theme!
@rkhadder Thanks for trying, but what do you mean? does it crash? was there a firewall pop-up on the background? unfortunately there's an unresolved problem where the engine tries to use UDP ports when loading a map as if it was a server which prompts a firewall message.
@zessirb Yes, the game might just be a bit too hard (to compensate for the short nature of it maybe...) You can indeed get stuck with no options than to die in bio mass if you move too slow, but that's what restarts are for.
@muriel haha, but the explosion does sound like an explosion right, even if anti-climatic? thank you!
Thanks for the feedback everyone!!
@axavian it's a bit too tough maybe, I can beat the first stage maybe 1/3rd of the times :) the second stage is actually much easier!
Thank you again for all the lovely feedback!
@huvaakoodia FTEQW is an enhanced quake 1 engine, so it indeed is easy to make shooters... if they're first person shooters, like quake. most things go out of the window when you make anything different, but it's still very comfortable for me to work with even if I have to reinvent the wheel occasionally
very classy
A bit hard to control, but looks and feel nice, I kinda wish it had some very spacey audio to go with it too!
Funny idea for the game, well done
Very nice for your first entry! a bit of audio would do wonders!
Cool concept, I like how the game gets harder the more rocks you put into the planet but also necessary to not lose the game
A bit too simple for a puzzle game but for a gamejam game it's not too bad
very ambitious to build a moba style setting for the game!
This is one way take on the theme I guess! Also small tip: please use zip instead of rar, as windows has native support for zip, makes everyone's life a tiny bit easier!
They music was quite fun to listen to, gameplay is very nice for a puzzle game like this!
Love the backgrounds and the overall visuals, kinda reminds me of super meat boy
Not too bad, the simple visuals work nicely. controls feel a bit awkward though, the overall idea with the shrinking/growing platform is good.
Kinda surprised I haven't seen more games like this yet! I was thinking of a similar idea when I saw the theme. Nice game, although could use a bit more polish next time!
@hunter-towe oh I meant just the side scrolling runner with the wall always pushing closer, but I ended up making something different myself :p
Lovely graphics! The gameplay might be more fluid if it automatically decided the action instead of needing separate buttons.
Simple concept but it works, wish there was a bit more animation to the blocks falling to help grasp the overall picture of the playing field better!
Almost makes me stress thinking of parking in a city lol, good job
Not much of a game but well done getting something done anyway!
Heh, I liked salad fingers back in the day, gameplay was quite enjoyable, nice to have controls that only need one hand for once! music/sound worked well too
I would recommend putting some information about what to do in the game and how to play it on this LD page! it's kinda mysterious right now
They jumping physics are a bit tricky, the visuals are great and the music is surprisingly calm for the situation, almost makes it feel like the dude has already accepted his fate)
Nice idea for the theme, gameplay itself is very basic, and so is the visuals/audio. still plays fine!
Nice game, at first I was trying to avoid my own trails like plague, but after noticing that they're not instant kill I had more fun just going around quickly
Cool clean visuals, especially liked the transitions between levels/deaths!
Wow very impressive for a custom engine + 3d art, it's not too common to have people that can do both
Very fitting for the theme, I like the detail that you actually have to carry the victims for the sacrifice and do it yourself, makes it a bit more impactful. The fights had a nice feel to them but it was very hard to see my character mid fights
The controls need a bit of work, the idea and the way it fits the theme are good otherwise
Epic sound and music!
Looks very nice, only problem with the visuals is that depth is kinda hard to tell for rings and asteroids. Otherwise the gameplay is solid.
Small note: please use zip over rar, so people don't need to use 3rd party software to extract your games, windows can handle zips natively. This rar didn't open in 7zip either so I was forced to use winrar.
The game instantly closes for me after launching, on Windows :(
Well done with pico8! I quite liked the music too
The music was excellent! Also good job on the character art and animation, the backgrounds look a bit too clean though. The gameplay works, with a bit more visual 'juice' it'd feel better though!
Very cool for a custom engine, nice intro as well, the gameplay was a bit hard to get hang of though
Cool graphics and concept, playing was a bit difficult and getting the grasp of the mechanics as well, the game kinda doesn't give you a chance to experiment with anything
The naked men were a bit disturbing but waiting for the doors to break was nicely tense
Very cool intro! Impressive amount of different enemies for a compo game as well
quite cool, I love the main mechanic of controlling a bigger group, but I did get screwed over by the cops shooting, suddenly I was left alone :(
Great intro, I like the effort you put into it
Good job finishing your first compo game!
Cool interpretation on the theme, really had me thinking on one of the puzzles
Well done and cool idea, but I wish the main mechanic wasn't only in extreme difficulty :p
Very cool art and sound design, I liked the dash move too.
Very cute graphics! solid game concept too
Interesting ideas, a bit slow to progress and a bit hard to figure out when you're doing things correct. Very nice 2d graphics
Excellent sound and nice visual effects, the input feels a bit off for some reason, but it's not that big of a deal when using slowmo a lot.
Small note for future releases: please use zip over rar, so people can let windows handle the archive extraction without needing winrar or any other program, this file needed didn't open with 7zip either for some reason which is what I normally use
very nice graphics! well done
The controls are the biggest problem I think, but I like the 3d 2d graphics, music was nice too
That was a beautiful game, thanks for sharing. The simple (but somewhat genius) art style combined with the sounds was very effective here, great storytelling.
Very nice game, feels like you could've gotten more out of your good 3d models if the game wasn't ortho, but regardless it played nice.I played for nearly 10 minutes and the shot effects started glitching out and everything was chaotic, can't say I didn't have fun with that!
A little bit awkward to fight the enemies, and the distances in the dungeon are a bit too long, but I can see where you were going with it!
You think the player character has it bad? his coworkers are before him at the office and stay later as well!
Good job finishing your game, it's a bit clunky and confusing to play so try to iron out the basic game feel for your next entries
The art and style is nice, the gameplay is a bit basic, maybe if it was a bit faster and the hitbox of your character was smaller it would work better
Excellent mood and nice graphics, all the mechanics are a bit confusing at first, like all the broken machines, and which appliance needs which resource etc, but you can tell there was care put into it
Quite a bit more serious and adult game you guys were working on, shame you didn't finish
The controls are very nice, simple graphics and sound effects suit the game very well. The game kinda gets monotone after a while but it's to be expected with LD games
Thank goodness the physics are more forgiving than in Marble Blast :) Good job
Nice visual style and music, a bit hard to travel through the space but that adds to the experience
A bit rough around the edges but congrats on getting it done!
Good consistent art style, fantastic music, interesting gameplay. Excellent entry, the only gripe I have is that the menu controls kept confusing me
I like the music, and the way it begins as a clicker is great, but the actual combat stuff drags out for way too long in my opinion. Lots of content to see for a compo game!
Way too touchy to control (on keyboard at least), can't keep the coin upright for more than a second, but it's an interesting concept with a pleasant presentation.
I think this concept is genius, well done. Even without any sound and minimal visuals I found it very fun. My biggest complaint is how recovering from mistakes can't really be done, as in you can't get back lives that you lost to something stupid earlier.
The way it's an actual gameboy game is super impressive, and the sprite work is good too. I can't say I enjoyed the gameplay that much but this is still really cool to see
This is a nice puzzle platformer, I guess the game fits the theme as well?
I like the combination of clicker and tower defense, maybe the implementation is a bit basic but it worked
Siisti peli, I really enjoyed the style and the humor, especially the veromuumi. It gets really challenging pretty quickly
For your ugliest game it's not that ugly :)
The gameplay was fun, apart from selecting your followers which was a bit unresponsive, the music was excellent.
Very good game, excellent music, nice consistent visual look, fun gameplay, well done
Cool game, I had stability and cohesion up pretty high and things seemed to go well enough, more workers seemed like the best course of action
Cool entry, the bright visuals and smooth animations are nice, and the basic gameplay works.
Good atmosphere, length is just right, it was simple enough to beat the boss by just spamming charge though. The contrast between the background and enemies was helpful but the graphics overall were a bit dark
Windows build worked fine for me, the game is very cute and the music fits the mood perfectly
Not too bad, I think technical issues and general polish hold the game back the most, I found myself quite entertained trying to position the enemies to kill them all in one spot but getting stuck on the obstacles got me a few times, the movement has something weird going on in it
This is a nice little game, simple but charming visuals, good gameplay gimmick, nothing wrong with the controls.
This is a decent game, having to guess if it's going to be another big guy or the door was a bit stressful but I made it through on my first try. Artwork is nice too. Hyvää työtä
@pwroff thanks! practice makes perfect :)
@morg @onnofal yeah, the quake based engine really shines for fast paced action games, especially first person. Good call with the invert mouse, I should put that into the settings menu next time.
@toasteater Did you unzip it properly? that sounds like the engine starting up but not finding any game files
@toasteater that's extremely odd then, it should work just like that (or at least has worked for others, myself included). I can't think of anything but the engine not being able to access the game files, one way or another. Thanks for reporting though
@robowarrior1982 @borys haha, you can tell I have no idea how to make the sort of intense, aggressive music that this type of a game needs :)
@niterich haven't seen that issue before, which platform and gfx card are you on?
@niterich hmm, I tested on my old thinkpad that has intel graphics and it worked fine (but it was using linux), I don't know what the problem is on your machine, sorry
@alienplay I'll give you some thoughts, I know it'll be a bit vague but I hope it's of use. It's the most important thing to know the basics of modeling for games first. I use blender to make the models, just keep a low poly count when modeling, apart from that it's mostly the same as any other style. good UV mapping is important as then you can make even low resolution textures look good. For the texture start at a higher resolution and don't worry about tiny details. I usually just paint the textures inside blender after doing uv mapping, but this time I also used blender's cycles renderer to bake edge hilights and ambient occlusion to speed up the process. after you've got the texture done you can halve its resolution as long as it still looks fine, I've made textures that start at 1024, 512, 256, and then scale them down to 256, 128 or 64 and it looks nicer and chunkier. Another trick you can do is to do after done with the base of the texture is to alter the color/contrast in an image editor like GIMP or photoshop to make it look crisper, and also to reduce the amount of colors (in gimp: image -> mode -> indexed -> set the amount of colors you want in the palette generation option and let it do it for you, and then change it back to rgb afterwards. try different amounts of colors to see what suits you). if your game has a certain color palette then make sure to use that palette instead of any colors.
@mza thank you :)
I'm pretty bad at giving advice for where to get started with something I've been doing for many years and lots of my learning has happened by asking the engine developer himself directly on irc, but let's see... There's the FTEQCC documentation that's probably the best starting point for modern QuakeC: http://triptohell.info/moodles/fteqcc/README.html Then there's this empty template I made that also integrates my own SUI ui library (used for this game as well as my LD43 game Regain Power) that should serve as some sort of a playground: https://github.com/shpuld/sui-qc Then for older stuff (some of it can still be very helpful) you should probably check out QuakeWiki (check the entire Modding category there): https://quakewiki.org/wiki/Getting_Started_Modding
@jam373 you can't do q2/q3/q4/ql style strafejumping here, as it's a quakeworld engine, but you can do the q1/qw/hl/source style bunnyhopping (hold A/D and no W). there's one cvar that you can try to make it a bit smoother, I forgot to put it into the default.cfg before the time ended and I don't feel like making an 1.01 update just for this: pm_stepdown 1
@b3agz thanks :) a lot of it comes for free for using a advanced quakeworld engine, the great feel for everything is part of the reason why I keep using it over usual engines
@wfmg thank you, the settings menu come with the generic menu library SUI I made ( https://github.com/shpuld/sui-qc ), so I don't have to do this sort of basic stuff that every other engine already has every time, and I don't have to tell anyone to go edit a .cfg file :)
Thank you everyone for the overwhelmingly positive feedback :) Out of the 7 LD's I've done, this is the first time I've gotten this sort of a reaction
@codekoto thank you, everything movement related is intended to a degree :) I'm a big quake guy myself, which is partly the reason why I use a quake based engine as well
@anion-z that's very likely that it's an antivirus, I've seen a few reports from people that the engine is flagged as a false positive by a few antivirus/antimalware programs :( sorry about that
@phobos001 thanks :) In classic unmodded QuakeC there was no integers at all, the data types were float, vector, string, entity (, function). The old habits die hard so I still often default to using floats everywhere despite the way more modern qc compiler/engine supporting ints just fine :)
@jjjjason thanks for the comprehensive feedback!! the bleed (also for @adroitconceptions ) slows down time at the cost of some health per tick, which really makes it easier to dodge projectiles and to make sure you hit your shots in a tough spot, you have to hold down the button
A bit of texture on the wall would've done wonders to playability! it feels like a small miracle I found the exit in the first stage :)
Cute and fun little game! I like the explosions and stuff flying around, and the parallax background. I wish the controls were a little bit different though, maybe my brain is a bit stupid but aiming and shooting with the same hand is very hard for me, if aiming was done with arrows too it would've been easier I think. Alternatively there could've maybe been a system where shots go near/far depending on how much you hold the button
Being able to tell what hurts you and what doesn't easier would've been nice, as well as a longer music loop. Otherwise a nice entry
Great music, solid design, the controls feel a bit floaty at first and I think it cheated me out of my triple jump (only had double) when I first bought it. Fun game
A bit basic and slow, but the concept is good. Congrats on finishing it!
The camera wobbling around as you move is quite nauseating, but I like the concept and the visuals on display
Has there been some mistake? didn't see an exe in the download
@niteb Yep, I was able to play it now. I like the concept of paying life for a chance of upgrading your weapons, but hoped there would be a bit more progression to it! with some weapons you're just never going to try upgrading anymore and there's not enough health to justify extreme gambling
Quite the atmosphere you got going on, well done for your first time
Interesting and fun game, a bit hard to recognize and memorize them, but the game is fast enough that trying again isn't so bad
Well done on the game, I wish the melee combat would've been a bit faster paced but it still works!
Cute drawings, I like the ikaruga mechanic, took me a second to figure out how to proceed though and lost my first game pretty early
The first mission was good fun, simple visuals were fitting, the other one felt a bit janky. Nice entry
I don't see a link for downloading on the itch io page, am I just blind?
Not bad at all for your first try, congrats for finishing it!
Played it through, I quite liked the music and the concept of freeing the little guys.
awesome experience, very atmospheric
Awesome presentation, platforming/controls need a bit of work
Nice game, the platforming mechanics were quite sharp so that didn't give me any problems, I got confused a bit with the controls for picking up and using but learned it after 2nd or 3rd level. Good amount of content for a compo game!
A bit unfinished but I was able to feed and give water to the dog and survived 89 seconds, then he decided to keep walking to a wall, I assume he had a vision of something even greater
Interesting concept, sound and music were quite extreme for this game w
Cool little game! for game maker that's quite impressive! everything worked really smooth for me in browser
@munmungames thanks! I'm doing a hotfix to fix that since it's a bit game breaking... apparently this game doesn't like nvidia hardware
@derek-volker thank you a lot for the compliments and feedback!
@robowarrior1982 thanks!
@week-of-the-agents almost! it's based on the quake 1 engine, which half-life is based on ;)
@devastus kiitos! well done completing the game!
Thanks a lot for the feedback guys!
@jusw85 well done completing it :) Indeed the ending is a bit rushed, I was planning on something nicer but I ended up spending lots of time on a mechanic that I had to cut because it didn't work, and it didn't leave me enough time for a better ending :p
(Also funny enough, I set out to make a game that wouldn't be too hard this time, but failed at it again lol, I can still play the entire game in one take without letting go of boost!)
This was quite the funny experience, loved the panic and chaos of it
Wow really amazing graphics and great music! Only a few seconds into the intro and you know you're dealing with a pretty high quality jam game! The gameplay mechanic was quite the interesting spin on cooldown based combat, Well done team!
Very solid game!
Awesome graphics! I couldn't get past the part where I had to collect parts, I had 5/6 but I couldn't pick up the last one for some reason
Loved the sound effects and the way you gotta act fast to make it (even though I didn't quite beat it )
the voices made me laugh every time, kinda addictive of a game!
For your age this is very well done! Congrats on getting it done, it's nice simple fun
The gameplay has a very addictive quality, I loved the instant respawns and fast paced gameplay
Very impressive work with the engine! For some reason for me the terrain doesn't render though, which makes the game quite a bit harder (my graphics card is amd r9 290)
I loved the music and the sprite graphics
Simple concept that could be quite fun!
Clever and funny concept :)
Darryl would not survive long in the real life! I managed to beat the game after I switched to using two hands for mashing the keys :)
Well done finishing, a bit simple and I wish the crafting was expanded upon
I love the mood you've created here! suits the game well
Not sure if the game is working correctly for me, but I wasn't able to launch from the ground no matter how much I tried using the mouse button
Very simple but well done finishing the game
Pretty unique concept! Btw your rar doesn't open with 7zip, needs winrar, better use .zip files in the future since windows can open them natively without ancient commercial software :)
I really love the idea of having to fly the plane with the mouse while also using the mouse to solve the puzzles, but it was a bit too hard to see and figure out the puzzles, I wasn't able to tell the starting point and ending point apart most of the time. Nice visuals as well!
Pretty good, it was pretty trippy trying to figure out where the enemies are and where the bullets are coming from, but it was fun
Retro graphics and even more retro gameplay, fits the theme. Well done
I kinda love it, the whole game feels like a big build up for the eventual huge pile up crash at the junction, you just know it's coming no matter how hard you're trying to avoid it, kept a smile on my face as I kept playing
Well done, surprisingly moody for a simple compo game!
Nice simple gameplay, it could get a bit annoying being stuck with multiple enemies and constantly losing the keyes, not having the space to avoid them
I win, was able to beat it by spamming commands quick enough, not sure what I was doing, I can't say I was a big fan of the controls or how they're introduced, but you've got some unique ideas there. The presentation was pretty good
Good visuals, well animated and good use of colors, I guess there's not really a game there?
Unfortunate you couldn't finish the game properly, I liked the concept and overall feel and the music was really good
Cool, I did end up playing long enough to meet all the goals, I liked the kind of a break the warp section gives you, paces the gameplay pretty naturally. Only thing I didn't really like was how slow the ship movement felt
Very well done tutorializing everything, the visual language was nice and there's lots of different puzzles there, well done
@thingus @morpheuszero sorry about that, for whatever reason the binaries of the engine I'm using (fte quakeworld, it's all open source so people can check themselves that it's safe) is false positive flagged by some anti viruses, I don't know what I can do about it myself :(
@warrrkus a separate time trial mode would be nice I suppose, the current mode is inspired by old sega arcade racers, just with quake movement (the engine is after all a quakeworld engine)
@jusw85 bunnyhopping is a tricky subject that requires a lot of practice to pull off well, however the sprint mechanic makes sure you can go fast enough without knowing a single thing about quake movement. I had someone send me a screenshot where they beat my own 6 lap record with 7 laps, without knowing how to bunnyhop :). it's often easier to screw yourself over by bunnyhopping but it's just so much fun if you know how it works.
if you're actually curious to find out how it works, I recommend this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfpmGJiuJkc
@jitspoe thanks! yep I've been making them in FTEQW since LD31 :) (31, 32, 33 jam, 41, 42, 43, 44, 46, 47)
Really cool game! I always like it when I can "compose" loops like this, and it's incorporated with the gameplay well. The graphics are also really well drawn!
I like the concept of making it like a stereotypical phone game with the ads and the in app purchases, but I can't say I had the patience to collect enough coins to get any of them ;)
Awesome graphics, this idea could be used for some quite devious puzzles I can imagine, works well as a proof of concept already
very nice, I liked the controls and the use of colors in the graphics, the music got a chuckle out of me too
Very nice little game, I liked the controls and graphics a lot
Well done finishing the game! The idea of flipping rooms is quite interesting, but the game itself plays quite rough, it makes fighting enemies feel a bit weird
The name doesn't lie, I was able to guess the last 3 numbers in one go so didn't end up being too long stuck in the loop. great job with the visuals
I can see where you're going for it with the idea, gotta do lots of things while also being under pressure, pretty good for a compo game
oh wow the challenge really ramps up at the end, it got pretty intense, nice simple presentation, game works well
Well done for your first entry, would've wanted to see more variety and reasons to go through the loop
Took me a while to figure out you can click the time icon, was able to beat the game after that, I think the concept could be expanded even more!
Quite hard to figure out, maybe a bit more resources could help get started. after a while I could figure out the mechanics but I'm having a super hard time visualizing how my swaps will look and how pools get formed, maybe if tile borders were more hilighted it'd be easier
Pretty good! I enjoyed going around the lap with the hard turns using the drift mechanic
Nice graphics and spooky atmosphere, the controls for the crafting screen were a bit clunky which made it maybe more tense than it should've been
found bug: the game told me alt-f4 to quit and it closed my browser
Nice concept, well done implementing everything in just 23 hours
I feel like I've played this game before :p, that said the puzzle design was still good so well done
Pretty good job making a working voxel terrain system in time, digging is always good fun. I lost my hut early unfortunately and got lost
Pretty cool simple game, I wish there was more audio feedback on the notes and a simpler to understand grading system instead of numbers, most rhythm games use words like perfect, great, good etc, they're a bit more simple to understand if you don't know the max score per note.
Pretty cool simple twin stick shooter, I liked the choice of colors in the screenshots but when actually playing it was actually surprisingly hard to see what's happening, maybe part of the problem was being bombarded immediately on start.
A nice simple game, the controls feel a bit unresponsive at first before you realize it's on a grid, maybe if the grid was more visible it would be easier to grasp. I think the game would also benefit from having a much smaller number of gems to collect and also having smaller levels to still keep it kinda cramped, it'd be much quicker and less tedious to complete a stage perfectly
Pretty cool, desperately needs some sounds to make the game moodier though. Played until level 11 or so.
Quite moody, really nice drawings. would've been cool to have more to read and learn
Played until 100 score after which it had gotten a bit boring, maybe the progression could be sped up to feed different more challenging stuff to the player sooner. Otherwise pretty neat.
Very nice and moody, really good for compo. The sounds were excellent and the flat shaded style worked well here.
Pretty good, some bugs and the control scheme get in the way but the music and art compensate, not bad at all for a jam
that was pretty entertaining, like an interactive farce
I have the same problem as one of the other commenters where I can't see the blocks in the playfield (amd r9 290, win8.1)
This was a really nice little game, I quite like the idea although I must say it took me a short while to figure out how it works (partly because top and bottom parts of the screen were cropped on my aspect ratio and didn't see the cost for any of the buildings). after figuring it out it was great fun to expand my area with turrets and lights and reach new stages
Cool little game, kinda hoped there was gonne be something more interesting to see when going deeper to make the new trips something to look forward to. The player sprite in particular looks really nice
A tad simple but alright for a compo game, well done
Really cool Tetris spin, took me a bit of time to figure out how the digging works but wasn't too cumbersome. Excellent music and nice job even including the shop system in.
Nice game, I like the light mechanic. The game overall reminds me a bit of an old flash game called motherload
A bit hard to get at first but it's cool, I like how there's multiple difficulty settings too
Had to read the comments to figure out how to kill the second enemy, got a bit further after that, I like the idea you got here but a bit better feedback and better flowing action would make it much nicer
I like the floaty controls, fits well with the setting. 3d looks nice but some better colors could do wonders
I bit hard of a nut to crack for a jam game
it's a bit too simple to be fun to play, with a bit more variety going up and down time after time might not be so tedious
Good job for first entry, very fitting sounds and nice difficulty curve
A bit of a macabre game eh, thankfully the typhoons in real life don't reach quite the same numbers :)
Pretty good! The gameplay works pretty well and there's a fair amount of content for a compo game
Shame you couldn't finish the game, I like the plan you had for it!
very nice booby, worth the effort
love the 95 nostalgia
Not bad, I like the creative use of physics
The mechanics work pretty well, I would've wished a bit more challenge since it seemed like you can just keep building without too much worries, maybe if the connections broke a bit easier it might have felt more tense. Anyway good job!
awesome concept for the theme, quite hard to play though. the visuals and sounds fit the game like a glove
Pretty funny idea, the face of the guy really sells it when he's eating it
Pretty fun! I very much enjoyed the rendition of the ride of the valkyries
Congrats on the release! Surprisingly tough to clear the fire obstacles when focusing on trying to keep your head level while timing it right, good game
Nice simple game, I like the graphics a lot, shame there wasn't music to go with it
I'm grateful for all the nice comments! Thank you!
Really nice graphics and music! I like the gameplay too, but I got stuck when the game didn't reset after dying
@stefan-jovanovic the stage started (and it lit me on fire instantly), I hit the explosives and died with the explosion like normal. that's all I could tell
I really enjoyed it, despite or maybe because of the wonky physics, but the design was clever as well
the mechanics are a bit obtuse but there is an interesting game here
very unique concept, and quite hilarious visuals, excellent
enjoyed the name and the concept of the game, but I'm very dumb with games that require heavy multitasking like this lol
I had quite the hard time figuring out how the game and controls work, even after reading the "how to play", maybe doing things more with the mouse and having a free camera might have helped
The cards and their descriptions really sell it, got a good laugh out of me, good job with the game
quite the cool experiment! I can imagine designing a bigger game around a mechanic like this would be hard if you can just set your coordinates to wherever etc
Quite the funny experience, got too laggy to register my inputs properly after playing for a short while, kinda fits the theme, heh
wow I don't even have to mention how impressive it is to have a NDS game for a jam!
awesome game for LD, this is why I hate paying my taxes
it's tower defense and that always works, the theme sure makes you think of how you play differently
great gun mechanic that fits the theme very well!
the gun sound is also really punchy and nice
Beautiful little game, well done! the choice of making characters and combat only appear with the footsteps and effects is genius!
Very nice, soaring through the sky with explosions is always fun
Quite confusing to play, I couldn't figure out how the controls worked in the first proper room. Nice 3d art though
Managed to beat it, other than the charge direction being a bit buggy it was a nice simple game
Good job finishing! Looks and plays nice enough
really nice use of storytelling! it made for quite the exciting simple game
Pretty rare to have such a multi-genre game in a jam, so respect for that!
Pretty good take on the gravity switching, the unusual but still predictable rhythm of the switching works well! only thing that messed me up a bit was the visuals where it's actually hard to to tell differences between blocks
Unique take on the infinite runners, I do like it after getting used to all my powers, took a few attempts though
nice little game! feels bad when your top shooter disappears on a foraging trip but I guess that's just life in the zombie apocalypse
super impressive for a LD game, this is probably one of the harder genres to get done in time!
nice little game! although getting it to play is a bit of a hassle, first I would suggest not using rar but zip as windows can handle zip natively, while your rar couldn't be opened by even 7zip so I had to resort to winrar, then it needed .net core to be installed which I didn't have
This was a nice entry! the music is nice and relaxing and the concept and gameplay is pretty fun once you get used to the controls that were a bit tricky
that's a lot of writing for a compo game, quite commendable! I do like how the choices and stats make it feel like there's more at stake, helps keep the story interesting
gotta rate you high for both mood and graphics, the visuals are really nice and work well together to create a better sense of for the world, well done!
Thank you all for the comments!
@p0l4r haha, didn't think that strategy would work, thanks for the clip!
@benjamin-gare I used blender to make all the models, both blender and gimp for texturing
thanks again for all comments!
@wild-fat the difficulty does scale up over time, you'll notice it from 1) more enemies spawning per group, 2) enemies getting replaced with a tougher different color variants, after some time you won't be able to one-shot pretty much any of the 3 types even with a rail gun. you will get overwhelmed eventually unless you found one of the many exploits that keep you safe lol
actually a really nice game! the artwork is great and the game play while kind of simple still had plenty to think about while playing
Really cool for a compo game, looks amazing for NES homebreow too! Music works well too! Unfortunately the gameplay is quite hard to get a grasp on thanks to the modal control toggle, hard to design around the limited amount of buttons on NES/FMC
nice looking game with a good concept but getting the hang of it was quite difficult, regardless well done!
Very cute game, great interpretation of the theme!
Congrats on your first LD! I like the idea and how it ties with the theme, not a game you'd see very often. Better feedback for the various options and where you can click would've made it a bit easier to play!
good concept and is playable even now, but some of the abilities are a bit janky. the visuals serve the game alright and the music is pretty good!
I'm a sucker for some first person platforming so I had a good time with this one! I would have liked a sensitivity slider and a proper quit button but I won't hold it against you on your first LD entry!
Love the graphics/style, the idea works nice with the theme but having to judge timing based on staring at the shadow's size is maybe a bit too bold of a choice
Really cool tech for the plants and how they change, and I really like the concept. the execution is a bit messy with the way the requests keep coming in and filling the screen (I guess that's intentional?) and it's not super clear that you have to click on the request to fulfill that particular one, still everything works and there's a lot to be proud of!
great graphics, UI, sound, and very impressive how much stuff you've crammed into the game!
very nice music and graphics, feels nice to move around and click, would love to play further but too much clicking is really RSI inducing, no joke, some automatic mining or just less clicks requires with decent tools (and more stone spawns) would've done wonders, well done for finishing!
very high mood score for this! I love the visuals and exploring the cave, not sure if more traditional controls might make it easier to move around maybe but I do like the innovation there
I really do love bunnyhopping so just jumping around in your game is a lot of fun! (I should know, I make my LD games in a quake engine ) I do wish there was more to the actual game though, online leaderboard is good but having some kind of a fail state or hard goals to challenge the player with would be cool
nice simple game, everything in there works and the visuals and music are great
I like the game, I do enjoy letting the ships do their thing as I watch my profits grow every year before supernova, very satisfying loop
I gotta respect making the entire game around a pun, using the farming for currency is pretty satisfying as well
this is a very clever game, I really like it! the length of the game is just right with a good ramp up in challenge on every island. shame I already clicked next before memorizing my score in the end
Super cool for a jam game, very elaborate, atmospheric and the voice overs are really good for setting up the mysteries. There's some weird bug the view keeps drifting to the right that was driving me nuts though, otherwise great
@amastryukov win10 64bit, firefox stable, 2070super, hope it helps
this is really cool, it was just very easy to just keep clicking and expanding the world, some overarching goals would be nice but for a LD game this is really nice as just something to keep playing with
This is really good! most LD games don't make you stop and think for your next moves, the concept is really nice
@danyclockworker @oh-seung-min Oops!! I messed up pasting the wrong link into the LD page, my bad! Thanks for letting me know, it's now fixed.
Thank you all for comments and playing!
@offdutyextractors thanks for the feedback! there was some trouble making those instructional messages feel right, was running a bit out of time with them  the upgrade system works based on the extra gems past the quota, it might have not been the clearest, if you play on easy to test things out, you should be pretty easily maxing out run speed and energy for sanic speed gameplay :runner:
@tinykidtoo @leggy yeah the difficulty was very hard to balance properly in time, I would definitely make changes to that for a post jam version, thanks for confirming!
@horda yep, you have to collect past the quota, it's not super clear but I tried making the boss messages hint at that, thanks for the great feedback!
@unentokku interesting, good to know, good reminder for me to make the menus work without a mouse :)
Thanks for the comments!
@someone thank you! I agree about the balancing, wish I had a few hours extra to tweak it :)
@mnocenti thanks! yeah the timer is a bit too harsh, so I don't blame anyone for going in with easy difficulty. I made the timer match the song length and it was too late to make it longer
@christian-zommerfelds thank you for playing and the detailed feedback!
Thank you all!
@joshedev some friends completed it on Very Hard just maxing out run speed and harvest speed, I haven't had the time to do it myself yet
@kikiriki367 morrowind has been super influential for me for almost 20 years so no wonder! yeah the balancing was left until the end without enough time, I redid the whole gameplay loop for the waves on monday (originally compo but had to "drop out" into jam because it wasn't fun and sounds were lacking on sunday), and the result shows that it could use more refining
@kikiriki367 thank you very much for your comments! you're very encouraging!
@steffo thank you for the very detailed feedback! lots of good observations, camera stuff very deliberate and so is lack of jumping (sorry no bhops... and yeah it causes problems too), enemy balance ended up being too easy due to lack of time, followed you back too
thank you very much everyone else too!
it's a bit complicated for me, but I can see a good basis in the system, I also like the very literal title!
interesting concept! shader graphs but with music and money
as others said, nice prototype, would be nice to see a proper game with this!
I loved the game! one of the most fun ones I played this LD, the stealth gameplay is super intuitive and fun and the music fits like a glove. the concept of the game already made me smile before playing
Nice simple game, pleasant music and good sounds! The knife guy is a bit tricky when he doesn't telegraph the attacks at all, but that's not a big problem, I did manage to glitch out of the level in a stage with 2 flowers and a knife guy though, no way to reset it seems
cool game! I like the humor and how there's very different challenges in each stage, variety is not that common in LD games
I love the concept and the music really rocks! Maybe the game would be a bit more fun if the movement speed was a bit slower and cutting didn't require as much precision, then the challenge would be more about choosing where to go and what to cut more than being able to be precise quickly
Really nice artwork and the music fit well, the concept is also pretty funny
Sometimes in the game it's hard to tell if a pit is a kill pit or if you can drop down to a lower area, maybe some better indication for that would've made it smoother, otherwise really nice
I don't quite get the gameplay, some instructions would be useful, otherwise things seem nice and polished so I'd like to try more
lovely audio and graphics, I like the 2 player concept as well, maybe a bit too chaotic/slippery when controlling just one player is tricky. still very cool!
really nice game! I love the different combination foods, some made me laugh. the gameplay is intuitive enough and the sounds make every click feel nice
I think this is a good basis for a nice puzzle game, some jank with controls and physics but a bit of polish would take care of that
very nice graphics, animation and music stand out immediately! well done!
I'll always appreciate some tofu delivery action, the music/sound and visuals work very well, but I think the driving physics could've been nicer
this was really nice! you made mechanically very simple gameplay interesting and fun and fit to the theme, the difficulty curve was very well adjusted and everything was communicated clearly with zero text. I think all those are things to be proud of. got through with 8 success and 2 money taken
I feel like a different font might have helped with readability, I found myself struggling a bit to read longer paragraphs. The vibe and music are really good for a text adventure
lovely visuals, well done making the most out of simple assets, the management gameplay works pretty decent as well, although feels like it was maybe a bit too easy to own an amount of pigeons well past capacity by sending them immediately on jobs when possible
lovely graphics and I love the idea, the animations with the ragdoll are hilarious. the driving is unfortunately a bit clunky and I think one delivery got stuck in the trunk animation, not sure if it's something I did wrong. anyway well done!
love the concept of building the different springs and other things, but I feel like it doesn't play well with actual throwing, it puts this careful planning gameplay and very inconsistent skill based fling gameplay against each other. I would've personally preferred to just have one crate goals per stage because I know I can't easily replicate the good fling very well so the challenge part is just frustrating to me. anyway I'm only sounding negative with the criticism because I think the game is good and interesting, just that for me it could've been even better! you also nailed it with the sound and visuals
as some of the commenters pointed out, a bit frustrating, but maybe if the feedback for your actions was visualized better, some proper feedback, it might've worked well!
I'm not sure if the game is working correctly, don't need to be able to pick things up, getting hit messes up the camera position and also sometimes freezes the screen for a while for me
Cool, lots of nice TD mechanics in place, even if thigns aren't quite finished, it's still pretty addicting to build and upgrade stuff and push the limits of your defense, well done!
I think I got stuck in the tent with the objective and the people I was supposed to deliver to just let me out of my misery... that aside, I think the concept is really fun, the battlefield looks pretty good for a jam game, the atmosphere is great.
Also, I would recommend having a basic template for future jam projects that includes an option screen with a mouse sensitivity slider, since you can't predict at all what kind of sensitivity people are comfortable with. it was quite a bit high for me here, but I won't deduct any points for that
rocket jumping around was really fun, kind of wish i didn't have to search for all the doors but there was some sign posting where they are, but otherwise I had a great time
I love the graphics and sound, found it very fun to play as well
fun little game, feels like flash games from the past in a good way
pretty cool! I can tell you went all in on creating a cool atmosphere, the voice acting and artwork are quite nice. In hindsight the suggestions I'd make are keeping the cool shaders from title screen in the game as well for a more unique look, maybe have some of the voice acting happen during gameplay and not just over the still images. regardless, well done!
unexpected but impressive intro story, sure makes the experience more memorable!
can't say I can rate high on the graphics, but a pretty innovative and interesting game!
This music is incredible, I had to just pause to take it in for a while. I like how momentum based the gameplay is, it's cool to be able to go fast but sucks when you miss a turn or don't know what your turn was, still fun to play
Pretty smooth and functional, very lovely music and sprite work!
it's pretty good, a bit hard to keep up and the RNG can screw you up when there's literally none of the order queue items on the streets, but it's still an enjoyable game to play for sure
really nice game, the upgrades are pretty well thought out and numerous, I do wish the camera was zoomed in further with some background distant scenery to really sell the speed and altitude both when ascending and descending
pretty fun simple game, more upgrades would've made the path to automation more interesting maybe
I can see what you're going for, but this is the kind of game that requires way too much for me, it's a bit too hard to visualize the needed moves for me. regardless of how dumb I'm with puzzles, the presentation is really good!
this is really fun and the mechanics are well implemented, but I feel like the time limit is maybe a bit too strict, I would've enjoyed doing things a bit more properly
Great highschore game! You managed to nail the "one more time" characteristic in this game, online leaderboards helps with it too
Very solid for just a few hours like you say! The concept definitely works!
Cool twist on frogger! The difficulty is maybe a bit much when cars appear so quick it's hard to react to an impossible pattern
Visuals look really nice, but the combination of very low fov and very high sensitivity makes it very hard to move and see where I'm going. I do really commend the art and atmosphere
Thank you all for nice comments!
@gamayun-games now I'm curious, which one do you think is the easter egg?
The flat graphics work super well for this! The use of parallax and animated elements is neat, and the sounds fit just right too. My only complaint would be the time it takes to crawl from one place to another early on but then I'd be literally complaining about snails being too slow.
Really like the theme and idea, writing was fun, however the connector bug still prevents proper game play in the web version
Pretty involved for a jam game! I really liked the announcer and the general chaos of it
This is a pretty good one! I like the way you gotta wait for the little froglings to not lose them. The player character toad also has some nice cake
Lovely little game, the distraction mechanic works quite nicely and I like how you can even use them to "park" the babies while getting more ones. The cutscene artwork is superb too
I really like the setting and the view while playing. Lots of moving elements on the screen and even an idle animation for the turtle. Gameplay feels a bit random and not sure if there's a strategy to consistently win, I went just straight on my winning run. In any case good work!
I like it, the idea of managing the physical objects really makes this way more interesting than usual change calculation.
Fun game! I like the blind play concept, works pretty well, but the thing that stood out the most to me was the visuals, looks really damn good!
Really impressive game! The game feel is really nice and the concept is super attractive, did quite a few attempts for the pure joy of playing, but unfortunately didn't find an ending with my skills. Great work!
@broco thanks for playing! I guess you had to spend quite a while!
@foxecho I'm glad it was useful for education!
@jtap thank you! maybe you should take it to the CEO of FROG
@kuboi at least you were left with a red line! thank you!
Very nice! I feel like mouse pointer move like this is super underrated, felt really nice to play! The visuals and vibe fit the simple concept nicely and the layer jump effect complements everything.
Oh my god when I heard the Finnish comments just burst out laughing, loistavaa työtä, tosi hauska peli
Other commenters have missed the point I feel, but I thought it was quite funny and clever to have the narration be the "deep" part of it
I see a frog, I play. Good game built around a fishing minigame, I've always dreamed of catching a sturgeon.
Very Hotline Miami inspired I can tell! Pretty solid time!
Cool game! All the low sensitivity CS gameplay helped me clear this! Reminds me of some fun flash games of back in the day
super cool, I love the exploring aspect, I think focusing more on that than demanding gameplay was a very good choice, very nice experience!
I love the concept, the things that tricks me the most is how I have to move cursor when crossing screens, but other than that it's great!
Gets stuck in downloading dictionary
Very cool concept, shame about the bug with the S key, but doesn't ruin the game
This game is genius, best one I've played so far, thinking of your momentum in a turn based game is really interesting.
Great game, I got wrecked by the ufo falling down on my city hall but the management/exploration worked well together before that.
Good tower defense, kept me hooked until I perished. Sometimes hard to tell how a turret is going to work before placing, but that's a problem only for the first time playing.
raamen buritoo?
Very cool, looks like I wasn't the only one adding survival horror as the other genre. I like how lively you made the graphics even with such a simple style.
@Jima Thanks for the feedback, updated description!! The aiming is a bit unpolished, my mistakes were making the hitbox of the enemies too small and also there's an offset to the right with where the bullets come from vs where you aim
@randomphantom you're also a beautiful person
