Hey this was pretty good, actually laughed out loud at the 48 hours joke. I immediately sacrificed someone because I was curious what would happen and died later because I didn't even realize you could move around. Great job!

Hey this was pretty good, actually laughed out loud at the 48 hours joke. I immediately sacrificed someone because I was curious what would happen and died later because I didn't even realize you could move around. Great job!
Well so I sacrificed everyone and it turns out that's not a good game plan. Great work!
Loved the narration at the beginning, as well as the tech you used for the typing animation.
"Until death do us apart"
Nice game, good humour and a pretty satisfying shooting section, the capacity thing never really played that much of a part for me as i only got like 8 fuel and 2 food per stop. But good game.
LoL... I like the prolog! To go along with that, I think the music and sound effects fit the game perfectly. After a couple rounds, I sacrificed the wife... after all, one of the negatives was "she's your wife" haha. I really like this concept. Perhaps my only real gripe is that it's a bit too easy. Perhaps, the difficulty really ramps up had I played a few more levels, but, from what I played through, I never was really put in a "you must sacrifice someone" situation. Great job!
the tech is really nice! Although having Cntrl being one of the shooting keybinds and W to move.. Well that closes the tab in most browsers.. lol Great game! (im aware you can shoot with the mouse)
This was so cool and interesting (a bit dark though)overall I like how as the player we are introduced to the game and the music and sound affects are pretty good
You become a zombie as well feeding on your friends :D
Great work for your first Ludum dare! My only comment would be that zombies in your game can feel a little bit generic. It would have been nice to see something a little bit more unique with the same mechanics. Keep up the great work :)
Fun shooter with a bit of dark humor. Graphics and music are very good, and I liked how the game forces you after a while to sacrifice your family and friends. Great work!
Pretty good! I like how the sacrificing was implemented. I do wish there was some kind of goal to reach though. I will say extra storage space from sacrificing people is nice at first, but Toby doesn't often bring back enough to make use of all the space. At least, that's the trend I noticed.
Great Game and Realy funny Humor :D
I kind of expected there to be some limitation on bullets, but pray and spray is a valid tactic.
Great idea man! I love that it your decisions really impact the whole game
Really cool game! There are some strategy and management elements, so it's quite interesting and fun to play!:)
So is there no winning this game? I guess if you never shoot the car, the zombies never come. I wanted to find the sanctuary with the zombie cure or the zombie killing squad. @ravarion Yeah I was wondering if there was a bullet limit, you can accidentally shoot other people. Overall, though, the mood was great, there was humor, and I actually felt the sacrifice theme. Nothing crazy new here, but it was fun.
Thank you for your (mostly) positive feedback everybody! There is nothing you said that I don't agree with... I will keep that in mind for the next event ;)
@dk5000p I confirm there is no winning to the game, the objective being to go as far as you can by collecting fuel. The only technical limit is the car health, that you need to decrease at each wave (so max 50 waves), but I myself couldn't pass more than 15 waves (not sure it was in the final version though)
@Rolly Now I kind of want to go for 50 waves but it didn't seem like enough changed to want to do that.
That's not bad at all. The feeding interface feels a little overwheling at first (but actually is really simple, it's text making it visually complex), but that's the only complaint I reaally have. Fairly engaging little game!
A nice balance of humour, challenging gameplay and strategy! It is genuinely very fun. Well done!
Very good job with this game! It's very polished and works great on all accounts, it's quite impressive! I'm not a big fan of the graphics but there's only so much you can do in 48 hours right xD Well done!
Great intro, I like the effort you put into it
Awesome game and great intro. Good job on including so much polish in 48 hours! I managed to get to wave 12 before the car blew up. The sacrificing is done in such a dark way too lol. At the very beginning I was wondering why my character wasn't moving properly, it took me a while to realise there was a max distance you could be away from the car. One bug I found is that if you keep shooting as the wave finishes, the audio will keep playing during the following menu. Really fun game overall though :)
@yyam Thanks for the comment ! Damn is this bug still there..? I got it once and thought I had fixed it but apparently I failed... Sorry !
I really like this game!! It is very fun and polished! Extremely impressive for 48 hours. I also love the music.
Really nicely polished game. Interesting mixed between classic gameplay and original concept.
Congratulations! This is the best game I've played so far and I'm not sure this rank will be taken. You made an extremely well pollished game in just under 48h. There was a nice intro, nice and smooth gameplay. You did a great job @rolly !
Wow that's a huge compliment @rapyo! Thank you soooo much! So happy you enjoyed it!
That game was enjoyable! I had to let go (I think Kathy was her name), they said she was bad with the gun, so sorry for her. The game felt very complete. A menu screen, an intro and the whole game itself felt quite polished. Good job! (I couldn't figure out, what the fuel was for?). Also a way to buy other weapons would've been interesting, though I understand that you were probably under a lot of stress either way :D
@pancakefriday I think my biggest mistake was to put the main objective aside, and that like you, most people don't understand why they should keep the fuel. The real and only objective for the player is to go as far as possible (there is a very badly drawn icon in the top left corner of the screen during the wave part to tell you how far you traveled). At each wave, Toby brings back some fuel, and the amount you decide to keep will be automatically transformed into "traveled miles" before the beginning of the next wave.
Thank you for your review!
Interesting, in that case, maybe a small transition screen between levels could've been helpful, where the player watches the fuel diminish? :) You nailed the main part of the gameplay, so this is probably just minor.
@pancakefriday that's a good idea! My first idea was to have a black screen with a small dialog like in the intro, but with the constraint that some people might have died. I was too short on time to do it, but if I decide to keep improving the game, it's definitly something I will add!
I couldn't figure out how to get past the day one report. Is this bad?
Great amount of gameplay in such a short time. Well done! I didn't quite grasp when i was running low on food, or what i was earning each time (weird ui), but everything else was nice.
@mike-inprinciple Bad for me yes! If you still want to give it another try, you only need, in the "Car" panel, to "let" (abandon) resources so that food + fuel is lower than your storage capacity (icon with 3 boxes on the right). Another possibility is to sacrifice people to increase your storage capacity. Then a button "Continue" appear and you can go to the next wave. Sorry for bad ui :(
@deathray also in the "Car" panel, the first line indicates what the dog brings to the car (food and fuel), which are automatically put in the car. the food is lost when you feed people, and the fuel is lost between each wave, transformed in "traveled miles".
Thanks for the reviews!
Super cool game with many mechanics that work wonderfully together! I loved the writing in this one, I sacrificed the wife, LOL 😂. I liked that the shooting itself was skill-based but you still had included after the shooting was done. The shooting sound was a little grating, perhaps you could have had more shooting sounds with some variety. Almost a 5/5 for me!
Haha, this game had a lot of humour and great dialog, I had a tons of fun!
@bradur Thanks for the feedback! That's a good point about the audio, and I regret so much to not have included the possibility to balance it ingame, or at least set the sound effects at a lower volume by default... Well, that's an error I won't do next time :p
I had fun with this, although I was a bit overwhelmed initially with the character screen. Maybe showing one person at a time would make it less daunting. Introducing one character at a time could work, but then it messes up the mechanic of using people as a resource, so I dunno how you could rectify that.

I found a bug that give lots os resources if you keep shooting the car after the wave ends and the shooting sound keeps playing for a while.
Other than that, very interesting and humours game. I guess the black humour is already expected when you read the game title, but is interesting that it deals with it in a non-serious way. The dialogues are very funny, just as the pros and cons of sacrificing your party members.
I think the graphics could have used i bit more polishing, but it doesnt really compromises the game experience.
@derek-volker thank you for the review and the bug report. I will fix it right now!
Graphics are indeed my weak point, and I am absolutly not satisfied with it (especially the background in the shooter part), but unfortunatly couldn't do better during the jam. If I decide to push the game further, it is something I want to improve. Thanks again, hoped you had fun!
An interesting game with a kind of mechanics. I put a rating) Please rating and me, thanks in advance)

Hilarious and awesome! I kind of wish there was a road-trip moving-car between waves (maybe just in the background as you were making choices)... but hot-dang, amazing work!
@mrspeaker wow that's a very nice comment! Thank you! I decided to keep improving it and thought about adding a playable part for the road trip. Hopefully, your wish will come true
♫Shoot them in the brains if you want to live ♫ shoot them in the brains - even the little kids!♫
I really enjoyed this game concept, thought it was funny and took a light hearted jab at itself as a jam game with limitations.
The gameplay was solid and the idea of eating your companions to stay alive really fit the theme.
However it wasnt clear to me what would happen if the zombies hit the car (I assumed it would be bad, but I wasnt sure if it would game over if they hit the car or just if they killed us).
Also the choices seemed a bit like you would always naturally sacrifice the kid and the thirst-trap and end up on a bro-ride with the neighbour because he has the best stats. I think maybe if you were in control of where they were placed each round it might make it more viable to keep the weaker people alive? (I always lost them if they were on the opposite side of the car to me). More variety in the map texture mightve been nice too but imagine this was just the time restraint!
On the whole well done and fun though :)
@limnori thanks for the feedback!
For the anecdote, the background image is the last thing I did before going to sleep at mid-term; it took me about half an hour to do it, and after seeing the result, I got a big loss of motivation and didn't want to lose more time trying to make decent backgrounds... But yeah, the initial idea was to have different backgrounds to show movement and evolution between waves!
As for the missing animations and sounds for people death, car taking damages and explosion, I have no excuse, as I submitted my entry 2 hours before the deadline. I guess I just "forgot" to do it (or really needed some sleep).
Thanks again, glad you had fun!
