Cool game
interesting concept
Fun to play, but I kept dying.
Though it's probably due to my own ineptitude.
Hey Luis, this is Bryan
Played your game. It was cool.
But the lava gun is OP, the Eye is UP(is that right?),
and the Mine gun is okay. Not sure if that's intended or not but it makes the game a bit unbalanced.
My bad, forgot to rate
I can't clear the first level...
probably my fault.
Fum game.
Fun game! Ain't money a great thing to have
To answer WebFreak001's question, there is no secret doors
but you may have to equip the items you received.
For everyone else, I try fixing it somehow.
You can delete it afterwards, you know
There's literally nothing there...
Amazing
I like it, kind of reminds me of the warioware type microgame style.
Fun to play! The ending felt a bit underwhelming though.
Fun game! Fits the theme well.
Although the game was fun, I would have preferred something more rewarding for my many repeated runs.
Definitely makes me feel like I just did some clinical drug. I don't know that makes me feel though...
Cool idea.
It's an interesting life simulation game... kinda
Found it a bit difficult to keep up with the games fast pace
It was a fun game though
It's a cool game, a bit difficult though
Very nice for such a short time frame!
The game is fun and fast-paced and the music is great!
Fun game! Graphics and audio are fun to watch
The game seems buggy for me and it kind of killed the atmosphere.
Sometimes I can't search bushes or trees or collect their contents. I also couldn't get the fireplace to work.
Could use some fine tuning
heh, Carl's quite the charmer ain't he.
Pretty good game with simple controls
This game is so much fun! Great job!
True but "Tree island" doesn't really grab attention, now does it.
Fun game!
For a monster who eats humans for survival, it's pretty wasteful considering how many bodies are left around.
The game was fun!
Boy, I can see myself doing do many of these!
That was great!
I thought the goal was to get the cat off the laptop...
By now it's a sheet of scrap metal with cat chunks all over it.
Liked the Game and Watch look and feel
Very eggs-quisite
Fun set of minigames!
Cool game!
Music was good.
Cool concept! Rolling over all those runners was fun as well.
I like it!
The reflex based game matches my tastes
Cool idea.
Fun quick game
I like the idea.
Still not sure what 'f' does aside from change color though
Fun game! The graphics were appealing and the mechanic was fun to use.
I sure feel like Zelda right now...
...cause I'm waiting for link.
Can you download Processing?
It can be opened in that.
There's a file called Ludum_Dare_24.pde which can be opened in processing 3(maybe 2 as well).
I didn't know how to compress it or export it.
Try saving the file as a .zip
I heard that works but it might not
otherwise, download Processing 3... or not
There's no real end goal so the game ends pretty much when there's no appeal left to playing.
Besides that, the gameplay's too short and repetitive.
Interesting concept
The music was relaxing
pool tower defense game, but it gets a bit repetitive after a while when you can two shot the possum with tomato feeders and continuously replenish them.
Fine
Huh... Don't do work... I'll keep that one in mind!
Interesting concept, but I kept getting killed even when I was disguised.
This game is so unforgiving.
I mean, it's fun but... one hit deaths, TWO invincible bosses, no checkpoints, frustrating jumps...
You must really enjoy seeing people in pain, don't you?
Fun game
Technically, no. But I can see the resemblance.
Sure
Fun game, faced a bit of slowdown on my browser though.
Decent game
Kind of hard to play.
Interesting, but too short.
This game is a lot of fun.
Fun game
Very nice game! I can definitely see the Nuclear Throne inspiration!
Interesting game... Got 362.
Once again, I find myself dying over and over again. Cripes, I'm bad at your games...
I like the aesthetics. The pixel animation is nice, and the bosses feel distinct and are fun to fight.
I'll admit, I would have changed the color of the background, so it can be differentiated from the foreground. When I fought the flame boss, I didn't even know I could jump on the platform until I accidentally landed on it.
I also would have changed the difficulty, but then again, I'm lousy at mega man-esque games, so take that with a grain of salt.
Overall though, good job!
There's potential here, but it's a bit buggy right now. After my first death, none of the enemies would move, and the Wave number wouldn't leave the screen.
Not a bad game! I liked the puzzles and such, but time limit seems unnecessary when the digits are the same each time, and their order doesn't change.
Thanks!
I will say, the mechanics were really cool looking at least. I enjoyed the game, but I did find myself getting bothered by the fact that I could knock my own lanterns into inaccessible areas.
That's odd... It works on mine. I'll try to fix this, but to be honest, I'm a bit unsure of what to do here.
I've made a new version that embeds java. Let me know if that fixes the issue.
I like it. Not quite sure how it relates to the theme, though.
Okay, then.
Sorry, I'm having a hard time getting the game to play. I can't really rate the game because of that.
Heh, nice! I enjoyed it.
Ha! Love the bartender's quips
I liked it! It was rather difficult though, I assume that's the point.
I love the idea! The music is great too, but it is a bit annoying that you can kill your own king.
I like it! The art is great. Got 14 kills.
Ha, nice!
I like it. It's a bit short, and it got softlocked a few times, but aside from that, it works well.
One thing though, I get why getting the lunar candies are a bad thing, but isn't the theme, the more you have the worse it is? Are solar candies somehow bad, despite bringing you back to life?
Ok, the game was pretty good. I like the array of powers, but man... that resolution...
I could barely SEE the game, let alone play it. But aside from that, the game's solid.
Dang, only lasted a month. Anyways, fun hectic game!
The concept is great! The gun sounds are a bit repetitive after a while though. Maybe a sound loop could've fixed that.
It would've been nice if the camera angle were a bit better, after the first turn, I ended up running right off the side since the wall blocked my field of vision.
Heh, reminds me of a browser game, I played before about multitasking. I like it!
Also, the J, K, and L games can be completed by just repeatedly tapping those buttons, which is how I won.
Cripes, that scared me. Also, Will is right. After death, controls are locked.
Nice puzzle game! I like the mechanics.
Okay yeah... that song is a bit off putting.
Also the gameplay is rather tough for me. I can't seem to kill someone without getting hit first.
If that's the idea, then fine, but it makes the game feel a bit less skillful.
How sweet. I like it!
Nice work! Unfortunately it was a bit too big for my screen and some of the game got cut off, but aside from that, I really liked it! The child liked drawing aesthetic was great!
I liked the idea. The music was fantastic, and the graphics were nice. I'm a bit unsure of why I kept losing in the third stage, even when my family happiness was above 0. Am I missing something?
Regardless, nice work!
Heh, funny game. The music was great!
Okay, I've got to be honest...
This is one of the most boring games I've ever played in my life.
How you managed to stay sane while play testing it, I'll never know.
Also, that 2 second music loop gets grating pretty quickly.
It was ambitious and I can respect the effort, but I can't say it felt that fun to play. Sorry.
Some dead bodies hurt me, others didn't... I couldn't see myself on the map, and the areas weren't distinct enough for me to tell where I was... Enemies were a chore to take out... I came across some attack and health spots that didn't seem to do anything... it just felt unpolished.
I get that most of the issues I have are likely due to time constraints, and I'm sure you know about them but still.
Not bad, I wouldn't call the game hard, but it did kind of get annoying when I had to attack to see.
@james-leib Unfortunately Processing doesn't allow me to export to Mac. Trust me, if I were able to, I would. Sorry. :/
@xesenix True, I probably should've made it pop up if the player hit TAB or something... Resting makes them recover stress faste, and clicking the work button adds to the progress bar. It's not very fast though, I wanted the work to be distributed among all the staff
@ravarion Yeah, I toyed around with game speed. At first each day was 2 minutes long, but I shortened it down to 1. Still, it can feel a bit long.
@andrew-garcia You may have been playing an outdated version. I noticed the stress issue a bit late, but it should be fixed now. But thanks for the feedback!
@binarylynx Oof, sorry to hear it
@fullmontis Heh, don't bother trying for them. It was just an idea that never came to fruition.
Wow! Great concept! I love the idea of either giving up your platforming ability or health to progress. And that ending was nice.
A bit short, but really good! :)
Neat idea! It certainly did feel complex at first, but I think it works.
Probably a crap score, but I survived 14 years.
Loved the music!
Ah, a fellow AoE connoisseur, I see.
Overall, walking feels... really slow. I kind of get why, but it's not exactly fun to wait ages for the shepherd to actually get anywhere.
And the fertility rate and food go down really fast. I don't know. I just seem to have fewer sheep after each round trip.
Cool idea.
Interesting, but it kind of gets boring after a while.
Made it to day 126 by getting a good set from the offset and just eating any survivors we came upon.
While this is a cool idea, gameplay felt a bit dragged down by the controls. Aiming the grappling hook thing was kind of annoying, and there's little way to avoid the enemies. (I know you can hit them twice to kill them, but it's not easy to do that) A few more buttons could've helped this in my opinion.
This feels... unfinished... like REALLY unfinished.
That one dialogue interaction works one time and no more. People reply to characters that are aren't there, the car moves without a driver, no one talks about any of the events they just saw. Sometimes, the textbox said a character lived when he died, and vice versa.
And beyond that, the choices feel meaningless. Never did I weigh the decision of who should choose where to go on the intersection, since I had no way of knowing what was where. Never did I consider the ramifications of losing any particular member of the group, since there were none. It was like playing a game in which I flipped a coin three times, earning a point for each heads, and no matter what, I won.
I know I played alone, and that this is (I presume) intended to be a multiplayer game, but regardless, these points still stand. I played it several times to see if there was anything at all I was missing, but it just feels so devoid of content, or anything.
It's a shame too, since the style is nice.
Well now, that's... interesting.
A bit short, but not bad.
Agreed. This game does a lot with a little. Even the lighting changes added to the mood. Nice work!
Fun for about a minute. Blowing sheep around is fun, but it kind of loses it's luster when I realized it didn't really do much.
While this looks interesting, I think you forgot to include download links.
At least as of the time I'm commenting this.
Pretty good! I like how the sacrificing was implemented. I do wish there was some kind of goal to reach though. I will say extra storage space from sacrificing people is nice at first, but Toby doesn't often bring back enough to make use of all the space. At least, that's the trend I noticed.
Nice job! The attention to detail is more than I would have expected and nicely done. The way Eggman's sprites change when he's falling, walking, or jumping is really cool to see.
Heh, you wouldn't expect a 30 second game to have a twist (two even), but you got me. That was fun.
Even the puzzles were cool for what they were.
Wow, that's a lot of comments. Regardless, fantastic little game. I loved it.
Really cool idea! Certainly not bad for a first timer.
Not bad. Framerate's a bit slow for my liking, but functional.
@mickm I'm afraid I don't know how to embed things. Is it a simple process?
Ok, I've seen your comments, and I've replaced replaced the download with another export. Hopefully this one works better.
And as a last ditch effort I added the assets as a seperate download. If you have Processing (3 or 4, both work) then you can open the file directly with the source code.
Always a fan of symbolic gameplay. And yeah it was short, but it wasn't bad. Good luck with your next game!
(I clean twash)
I like it. I could see myself playing this on my phone from time to time.
(That being said, I'm not very good at this game)
Wow, I'm impressed you made this in 2 days! Fully voice acted with a unique artstyle to boot? Nice work!
Boss fight was honestly the best part of the game.
The melee weapon was a bit too slow and risky, so I opted to just run past the enemies in the early game. And the insanity mechanic sort of feels like a way to keep you on low health for some parts.
Got the bad end, but I still had a fun time with this game.
Ok, that was certainly interesting. Appliance body horror wasn't something I was expecting to see today, and hopefully I never do again. Still, well done. A bit of music might've helped though. (during gameplay I mean)
I got the general ending last, and to be honest I don't really know what triggered it. (Clock?)
Nice! Fun platformer with a hefty amount of scaffolding to hop on. And while I now get that teddy bears are checkpoints, in game I found it odd that they only helped your sanity once and never again.
I love this concept! Really fun to manage all the desktop elements.
Good for you! This is fine for a first timer. The game's pretty easy, and it's not hard at all to just mash the button down to delete the viruses.
Fun concept! The controls are a bit tricky though. I keep dropping the babies even if I hold the button down. (I'm guessing this is intentional though?)
Such a wild ride! The graphics and gameplay are top notch! Could've used a few more enemies, and the game doesn't really get harder in the later rounds, but hey 3 days, I get it.
I'm not a big fan of the upgrade that reduces your rage time, though. The short rage means you often just throw yourself into a crowd before you can even react. I realize there's some invincibility but I still found myself constantly thrown into bad situations. I don't mind it as option, but I just wish I could cycle it. I think a shop refresh would've been nice.
Now that's a fun concept! Though I feel like a game like this requires a bit more explanation than was offered. I had to play a few rounds to really get what to do.
Also nothing happened when everyone else busted out. I kinda got softlocked too.
But anyways for 48 hours, this is very impressive! I could see this being developed into something way bigger in the future.
I enjoy games like this. Micromanagy type stuff with humorous elements.
Very short though. And I do feel like the animation played when you get a serum wrong should be consistent with itself rather than be a random bad one. (At least that's what it looked like to me)
But overall, I can see potential here! Maybe more lab equipment to mess around with? More test subjects.
Ok, this is actually amazing. This honestly feels near like a full game. Like with a few more days of level building I could see this being sold on steam or something.
Not sure what was with that ending though. When I saw the red I thought I triggered some bad end or something (maybe I did. I dunno)
My antivirus found this triggering. I don't know what means, but it made me too scared to try the game. Sorry.
Fun little game! The ending was a nice reward for destroying this poor dev's sanity.
I enjoyed everything except the gameplay. Sometimes planets would fly past the bounds of the screen making them hard to hit and hard to track.
I'll give you props for a really cool concept. Execution falls a bit short though. (For 48 hours though, that's fair.)
I also really liked it!
Of note, on one of the type in sign levels, the exclamation point was cut off so I messed it up. Also stirring the pot was really tough on the later levels.
Reminds me of that old NES game: "urban champion" I think.
Yeah, I won't sugarcoat it. It's not amazing, but with Ludum Dare games, sometimes that's just what happens. I get it.
I give you props for adding music and sound effects, that's more than I attempted. Keep at it! Next time can only be better, right?
Fun little game! The mc felt a tad slow at times though. And the one inventory slot really hurt the longer things went on.
...that twist ending though.
Well done! A bit short, but not bad. (I did find it odd that I died a few times falling offscreen despite knowing there was ground below though)
Now that's a fun concept! I really enjoyed this!
I often struggled to sell to the right target though. By the end of the game, there was this massive blue knight just wailing on the red base and I couldn't even give the reds any support. Music was fine but got a tad repetitive.
Ok, a few things: Controls are super slippery. Makes it tough to stay still when mining. Also I didn't know you could bail until my 3rd death. And the fact that you have to anticipate when you need to bail combined with the consequences of losing your upgrades means you have to play super defensively. (Also I had to switch browsers since I kept scrolling down when hitting spacebar) It's a good game, especially for a first LD, but I just didn't have the best time with it for those reasons.
Pretty cool!
Once you get all the stats over +1 though, there isn't much to do but wait to win. I sort of just sat there pressing the end day button for a good number of weeks waiting for the game to end.
Game looks great! Love the spinning island effect.
I do feel like it's a bit punishing how it counts as extinction if you have the exact amount of animals for a shipment though. I also just find it hard to manage things in general.
I agree with the general sentiment. It's a very well made game, but precision platforming just isn't one of its strong suits. Often the double jump triggers when I meant to regular jump (level 6 I couldn't scale the wall) and some of the secrets can't be collected, (Or maybe it was a bug. Hard to tell) so I couldn't unlock the last level.
Love the theme! Wasn't super long, but after spending 30 minutes trying to figure out the last game I played, this was a welcome break. Keep it up!
Interesting concept.
I ran into a bug though, where I reset the absorber rods the second the thing was gonna explode and got locked into a state where the second counter was locked to zero. No more breakdowns happened, and time progressed normally. So I survived, but... y'know.
That's really good!
If I had one criticism though, I think the theme of unsuitability was touched on here and there, but I don't know if I'd consider it a main gimmick of the game. Some platforms fall but that's pretty typical of platformers. Maybe if more levels dialed in on that collapsing mine idea. (Maybe it was on the to do list, I dunno) Also the grab mechanics were a touch finicky for my liking.
But aside from that, really well done!
I dunno, I respect that this is your first game, but there are lots of things that just got in the way of my enjoyment.
You can't move both laterally and vertically, the special attack has a blindspot, enemies can stunlock you, it just feels unfinished.
Furthermore, the theme is barely addressed. How is this mutant unstable? Why is the title mutated city? Is everyone mutants? Why do they want to attack me? Why do I need to go to the hospital. I don't look injured.
So overall, I wish you luck on future projects.
Ha! Who needs friends? Took a bit, but I managed all the relics. A quick restart would be nice, but the game's pretty fun!
Feels like shade's the best way to go. It's tough at first but eventually the whole screen becomes a death zone, and enemies can't even touch you (that is until much later) But it does make the other options seem near useless by comparison. Ended with 17200 on the full shade run.
Neat! Like playing through a mini d&d campaign. Feels unfair to rate this on graphics. There's like one picture in the entire game.
That's SUCH a fun concept! The drawing tools are touch limited, but I'm floored based on premise alone. Graphics are nice and music is perfect for this atmosphere.
Presentation is stellar! Music's nice, and the gameplay was fun. Enjoyed it.
Love the particle effects, the snow and explosions look excellent, but the game doesn't exactly offer much to do. It's pretty easy to get every last berry into your cave since you can push multiple stacks at once. When that happens you're kind of just waiting.
Ok, art and concept are fun, though the pathfinding could use some work. It's pretty easy to get the boss stuck on some rocks and have him be a nonissue while you're farming slimes. Also, not sure why but when you get the sword (level 6?) your attacks upward have no cooldown, lets you stunlock enemies. It helped with the farming, but I don't think it was intentional.
Awesome! I actually kind of like the frantic pace and having to throw down items before you even know what to do with them. One thing I'll say though is for that last level, it's a bit tricky to know how much room you need to make between yourself and death at certain points. I ended up looping an extra time to make up a bit of distance.
Love it! I did get into a rhythm by the end though, and things were going pretty well until things sped up, so I think maybe a few more elements would've helped keep things frantic throughout. Got 56864, more than I was expecting to, and it's almost a palindrome.
Fun ride! Decent platformer with some exploration elements. I think a time limit between each food item would be nice though, since right now it feels like you're just running errands for a hungry jerk.
I experienced the same issues as others are pointing out. I got stuck after a few plays. But aside from that this was a fun little game. I especially like the small details like the player switching guns after each shot.
Nice! Balance is kind off though. Some enemies had no health and died instantly. Others were too strong, and I could never run away when I needed to. (You address the 0 health thing in the known bugs area but yeah.) And the starting items seem misbalanced. 1000 gold when you start with 500 seems pretty useless after each fight gives you around 200 or so.
I don't know why but I had some drift issues. Not sure if that's just me though. The game was pretty fun, but hard. I ended up ignoring most boss requests since I'd rarely ever make it there in time. Got 2200 for what that's worth.
Sorry, but controls just kill it for me, and I'm no stranger to platformers. Not even tough as nails ones like Meat Boy or Celeste. But here, I only barely made it past level 3 and couldn't get any farther. Maybe eventually I'd get used to the controls, but I died way too many times on levels that seemed fairly easy in concept. Everything else was good though.
@dindotjs This is kinda off the top of my head and probably not easily implementable, but maybe if you could shoot freely, either via mouse, or twinstick style, it might be easier?
Ok, so not a very deep game, but it was frantic and pretty fun. For a first go, not bad. Music gets a touch grating after a bit but considering this is like a 1 minute game tops, not too big an issue. EDIT: Oh yeah, I got a high score of around 20000 evacuees. Didn't write it down, but it was somewhere around there.
Nice! Used to play Toss the Turtle as a id and this reminds me a lot of that. Fun! A particularly good run landed me at 1346m.
The premise felt a touch contrived, but I did like how it affected gameplay. Where you're both incentivized to double time as early as possible, but also there are things you can only do when time's running out. (Also was there meant to be a whistle blow at 15 seconds? One line seems to allude to that but the game doesn't have sound)
Ran into a bug on level 2, with the swtich. Crashed the game. Also that jumpscare at the end was completely unnecessary. 5/5.
