Oh no! The link is giving me a 404 :pensive:
Link still borked
Hey everyone, the link is now fixed! Sorry for the delay!
@joonamo @kormarun Links working now, thanks for the feedback!
I got a null reference exception trying to interact with the cauldron after making a potion, and after i quit and went back in the character just wouldn't move. Made me a bit sad, i like these "make the orders as they come in" type games. Has potential but it's hard getting all these fixes in a jam xD, please do ping me if you get a bugfix in, otherwise for now i'll just leave a grade on the art which is very charming, very well done pixel art, and seems to go well with the theme, well done on that front!
@vitor-milioni I think the null reference exception may be because you didn't pick up a flask to put the potion into. But that movement bug, that is annoying. not sure what caused that
Ok the game looks cute and the promise is fine. I must be doing something wrong. The first potion asks me for two "berries". I get one from the plant. Put in on the cauldron (bubbles appear). I get another one from the plants. Put it on the cauldron. I assume it's all the ingredients, so I hold the stir button until the bar fills... then it explodes.
What should I be doing? haha!
I can't seem to get the game to work. Lotta null pointers but even when I put two grapes through the countertop burner, put them both in the cauldron, nothing seems to come out before the timer runs out and taking a flask to the cauldron doesn't seem to do anything either...
Nice mecanics! A bit buggy with console logs popping up but, great job for a 72 hours jam!
@fiote Did you cook the berries on the stove stop? And then after that put them in the cauldron and then hold F to stir and then use a empty flask to get the potion.
@ruruie Did you hold F to stir the cauldron? Sorry if that wasn't clear.
@morepixels i did not cook the berries! I'll try again! [EDIT] ok now it "worked"! haha, thanks!
Ah! That works!
Nice graphics, kinda gives me zelda/links awakening vibes. I had the same experience as someone above where I was trying to add the berries directly and exploding(and some null refs and random witch turning green when hitting walls I think?). Maybe the instructions would be clearer if the recipe shows the cooked berry icon instead of the berry? (also great itch.io theme!)
i dont think i got it to working i get the colored potions but cant do anything after that .s still good work it looks real neat!
Great game ! it seems we had the same basic idea x)
the game just wouldnt load for me ;/
Nice game!
Fun little game! The mc felt a tad slow at times though. And the one inventory slot really hurt the longer things went on.
I enjoyed it! Like others pointed out, it was pretty confusing at first, even with the tutorial. But the art is nice and the game was fun once I had everything figured out. Good job!
@pilcrow oh, I don't know what happened there that's really unfortunate.
@ghatazorg @irina-nikulina Thank you!
@kbf123 yea we wish we could have got some sort of placement system so that you could put something down to pick up something new, but we just didn't end up having enough time.
@catalow yea, we wish we had made a better tutorial. It was just a case of I had been playing it for three days I forgot that other people didnt know what to do ahaha.
Ahhh now with the "hold f to stir" i see what was the problem when i first tried it xD honestly the "potion mixing" thing was done a lot in this jam, and i think this is one of the better ones that tackle that, the multitasking is fun, the timing feels fair, and it's very pretty, good job!
I was confused at first, but once I read the tutorial it all came together. A fun little Overcooked style game with charm of it's own! Cool art and cool mechanics. I felt like the level should have triggered as complete once you reached the required score rather than the timer running out, but a small gripe. Nice game!
@vitor-milioni Thank you that means a lot! Glad you have enjoyed the game!
@larryseinfeld Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! A yea overcooked was an inspiration for this game!
the game look is very nice, I like the gameplay dynamics. I was a little confused at first, but after reading the instructions everything worked. I think the music could be a little more upbeat to give it a sense of urgency at the end of time, but it's nothing to get in the way of the game. Congratulations to the developers!
Really nice game, oddly therapeutic xD I like the idea and gameplay! It made me chuckle a little looking at the animation for when you pluck a feather out haha. Overall I really like the effort put into the UI, the art and levels!
Nice work! The art was really nice, good sound design and chill music. The completing orders mechanic was solid and made up for a fun core loop.
Some small issues: - the icon for the berry ingredient for the potions is confusing and makes it seem like you need to use the raw berries instead of cooking them, I'd change it to the cooked version to be more clear since I tried several times before I read a comment here that clarified how to do it. - once the cauldron explodes from the wrong ingredients there doesn't seem to be a way to get it back? so you just end up wandering around until the timer runs down, I'd either show a level failed screen here or allow the player to refill the cauldron at the cost of extra time - as others have said, waiting for the timer to run down feels a bit aimless once you've reached the score target - maybe add an optional "end level" trigger once the player has reached the score goal if they want to go to the next level, or let theme score above the goal to incentivize them to keep making potions once they've hit the goal?
@chewiecb Thanks for the feedback! The icon was something that we had thought about we were unsure which to do because players could be confused at how to get the jam.
There is a way to empty the cauldron if you grab an empty flask and fill it and then throw it in the bin. We should have made that a lot clearer.
The the score thing, yea we should have. Originally we were going to have it that you wouldn't know your score until the timer ran out but right at the end we decided to add the score text.
I didn't get any of the errors people were mentioning before so for me this was a really good game. Simple gameplay loop and the controls were simple. When I first started a level I found myself trying to remember where everything went from the tutorial. If you plan to continue working on the game after the jam, maybe include an arrow showing where the thing you're holding goes. Another issue I had was that there's not enough time to do everything without time running out. Maybe increasing potion times or adding more, automatic cauldrons would be good. Other than that it's pretty fun. Good job
@enya454 Yea, is retrospect we should have done something like that. It just didn't cross out minds while making the game because we knew what to do. Just one of those things that happen when trying to make a game in such a short amount of time ahah. But that you for play and the kind words!
It's so hard, but very cute =)
Looks great! Pretty descent design, but I failed to understand how it really works, sorry :) Good job anyway! Thanks!
Really liked the graphics :) and once i got a hang of the potions the mechanics where really nice
Great pixel art. I blew up the pot at first and didn't know how to clear it. Later I gradually understood. Anyway, a good game
nice game !!!
@ullent @leokrechmer @misfire-dev @cloudlunar @as-you-like-101 thank you all for playing :D
The art style looks very neat. It reminds me overcooked that I really like :) A tutorial would be very appreciated to understand how to play the first time :)
@deborah-messaoudene Thank you! Yea overcooked was an inspiration for this game. Yea we wanted to make more of a tutorial unfortunately we ended up running out of time and could only get the one on the main menu implemented.
It's a really cute game with a neat concept, I enjoyed the experience of making potions and how relates with the theme, the audio added to the experience but I believe could improve in how intuitive the game is, bigger sprites and more indicators in what to do in the game maybe. Overrall it was rlly fun
Link worked for me! I love the graphics and I love cooking games! Good way to incorporate the theme unstable as well!
@npr0nn Thank you for the feedback! Yea we wish that we could have that's just how we decided to make the game and then didn't have enough time to change it at the end.
@stephenwhoskins Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!
Pretty neat game! Took me a bit to figure out what I was supposed to do with the ingredients cause the cauldron kept exploding haha, but once I figured it out, it wasn't too hard. It would be cool if there was a bit more chaos as well. With the cooking/chopping/watering stations a little closer, but with something like overcooked where the stations can overcook or something. Anyways, it was really cool! Awesome job :D
@flywolfe Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Yea if we had more time there would have been more chaos ahah.
Liked the game so much but the cauldron for me broke and didn't work
@meritcoding Hey just checking in, did you boil the berries on the first level? We realised that wasn't very clear and that could have been the issue you were having.
Damn your game is very close to mine, as we both did a overcooked inspired/potion game. Even then it gets very different in game as yours is more about planning and mine is more about chaos.
It's well put together, good job ! It's veery charming, the feather pick up animation especially is great ahah.
You could probably remove the "full screen" button on itch, as the one we actually need is the one from the Unity build that is actually underneath and gets hard to click because of it.
@yorsh thanks for checking out our game! Yea I've seen a few games that have done potion games with this theme! Glad you like that animation ahaha. And ah alright thanks for that!
interesting, a witch version overcooked!
it'd be better if the tutorial can be a part of the game or just give a button to check it in game.
I don't know what am I missing, I just can't find green leave in second level to make the super spicy potion;(
@nekowei thanks for the feedback. and oh, I thought we had fixed that layering issue but apparently not, well that's annoying. If you wanted to know it is in the top left by the knife.
Incredible little game ! The art are really cool, the mechanics is very good. Overall I did'nt have something to say ahah, well done I would like to see more
