Good job! I was never really that good at Scrabble, heh.

Good job! I was never really that good at Scrabble, heh.
This was actually something similar that a friend of mine wanted to do. He's a huge fan of board games. I love the art and thought that went into this. And thank you for putting lots a time into the manual!
I totally listened to the song in the very beginning until it faded out in the end. Recognize! =P
Great music. I like the art. Overall fun.
I absolutely love this game. It's relaxing and you gave me fun puzzles to kill a bunch of time with. O_O
Great job!
Yeah! I finally made something out of my myself!
Great game! I genuinely enjoyed this! Thanks for all the in-game instructions on how to play with character interactions. This game was very thoughtful.
I ran around for a good five minutes expecting something to happen, then realized that the networking part and the monsters part wasn't finished in the description, lol.
Cool game! Please keep adding! =)
I like storytelling with the use of operator interactions. Good job!
I like that the game changes modes. That allows you to enjoy multiple gaming experiences!
I really wish I didn't have to re-run the application every time I died, but I did eventually get the hang of it. I like the concept of using a mouse in combination with the arrow keys / WASD keys because I can jump right into it. I like all the neatly designed objects that you interact with as well.
Really funny game!
This is a real solid game and I'm totally impressed that you were able to get this all together in 72 hours. Great job!
I found this game surprisingly therapeutic, lol. Watching their tiny little mouths open and close made me really want to get them some water and moss. Great game. It's addictive similar to how Sim City is. That is, you basically feel like a god as these organisms depend on you.
It was really hard for me to see everything, lol. I love the HUD, the stage design, the coloring, and the feel of this one. Great job!
Holy cow. Mind blown. This was really refreshing to play. Great visuals. Great audio. And good old fashioned puzzle solving. Great job! =D
This was visually gorgeous. I loved climbing through the stairs and taking on the menacing red blocky dudes with the scary eyes. They thought that I was stuck in there with them, but in reality they were all stuck in there with ME!!! :: Maniacal laughter ensues ::
Thank you @nachtwitch! I was hoping to get a giant yarn ball monster in there that you could battle with and well an assortment of many other types of characters as well, heh. Maybe I'll try making this into a much largergame. This experience has definitely been addictive for me.
But @bassguitarbill, you're supposed to imagine how the kitten must feel! =P
I'm glad that you liked the music! I had so much fun writing it. =)
@danilo-freire Many thanks! I actually have an iMac even though I did the development on my Windows machine. I will totally look into this! =D
Thank you @cortella! I greatly appreciate it! I hope you got all the items! =D
Hey @sirred, the rabbit in the shop tells you how much each item is when an item is selected. Many thanks for playing!
Thanks for the feedback @adhesion, @jaag, @jusw85, and @mikeality! We definitely wanted the game to be challenging, but we apologize if it wasn't quite balanced enough. As for there only being a couple of stages, we're really interested in making a lot of stages for this if people are generally interested enough in this concept. Thanks again! :D
Thank you @geoff-nagy! You touched a programmer's heart! O_O
Hey @cyrolis, if you kill all the yarn balls in the very first stage when the game starts and then walk back to the door where the shop is, you should have enough to buy a helmet. Thanks for playing! It's greatly appreciated! We wanted to fine tune the game more, but the time ran out, heh. =)
Thanks @dans17! Ya, we apologize for not having enough levels. We wanted to do many more. I had boss music all written out, but we didn't have enough time to work it in. I'm glad that you got all the upgrades!
Excellent game. Near perfect. I had no problems figuring it out and it was a lot of fun!
This was perfect. I couldn't beat the last guy at all, though. I kept getting poisoned and died. Not sure how to prevent that or get out of it. But aside from that, perfect. Great music, great art style, and great incorporation of the theme. AND it's very playable for a long time, heh.
I enjoyed it! Took me awhile, though, because I would get bombed while I'm reading the instructions or the alien ship would come and pick me up after I press the up button when I walk up to a door, lol.
Overall, 5/5. I really like it. The graphics are gorgeous. The character animations are off the hook and I love playing from the perspective of a some kind of parasitic alien worm. Nice idea. Wish I thought of it, heh.
That was cool. I loved it! I totally crushed it, but I'm left questioning if that's really all that makes me human in the end... D=
Only major complaint is the collision detection. When your vertical speed becomes too great, it's difficult to get into tight crevices. And when you are next to a spike with tons of space between you and the spike and you die, I go "RRR!!! YOU WANNA SEE MY SOUL? THIS IS MY SOUL!!!!!!!" =P
This is such a good game. I love how the music kicks in as I move the box towards the area that specifies that I will be playing the game. You can use what you coded up for the actual game for the menu BUT you're essentially giving your operator instructions on how to play the game at the same time that they are instructing the game to begin, similar to what Mega Man X does. Great thought went into that. The mechanics (from an operator's perspective) are easy to understand. There's virtually no learning curve but the challenge is immediately felt and the operator becomes engaged to do exactly what they need to do on their very first try. Great job!
I enjoyed it. I got very stressed every time a bomb got too close to my villagers. I wound up bombing the king too much, lol.
Hey! I like it! I start with nothing and then from there things begin to develop. And how it develops/progresses is influenced by my interactions or lack thereof. :D
Very cool game. Visually gorgeous. I wish it had serene music to make me feel like I'm in a trance.
This was a really fun game. I can't believe I found enjoyment out of typing words on my keyboard before time runs out. Excellent job. I gave it 5s across the board.
It looks really gorgeous. It's hard to keep track of what control does what while I'm playing and to keep track of what's important to do. Good job on providing a tutorial, settings, etc. It looks professional. It's making me think that Unity is the way to go. But to be fair, I would still need to be good at art, heh.
Many thanks! I'm checking your game out now. It looks freaking amazing from the art posted that I see. O_O!
I absolutely love your game. It looks great. It's perfectly achieves the defense-based real time strategy game genre. And I can keep playing this for a long time and get a lot of enjoyment. I gave you 5s across the board.
Really cool day and night simulation and crafting concepts. I really enjoyed this!
I totally pwned this game. It has a beautiful art palette and art style generally speaking. I especially loved how the pumpkin spider worked well with the purples and grays. Good job!
I pretty much gave you 5/5 across the board, lol. You really nailed the theme. The art work was AWESOME. And you do horror very well! I love this. Great job! =)
I had a lot of the issues that everybody else is talking about, lol. But I really like this game! You really inspired me with the intro. The music is great. And I'm really into this generally speaking. In fact, I'm downright jelly! =P
Great job guys!
This game is awesome! A++++! I love the music. I love the facial expressions. I love the color palette. I love the effects. I love how gradually it grows in difficulty. This is a very satisfying and engaging game. And AND you are literally stuck in a loop! Great job! I just gave you 5/5 for all categories. =)
I really enjoyed this game! Good music. Good art. Fun and unique. Great job!
Very polished. I'm totally jelly, lol. Great job!
This game was fun. I got all the way through it. I really want more content because it pulled me in and I like how it kept rewinding me as well. Lastly, I also enjoyed the story component. I must know more, lol!! =P
Good job!
Good job! I like the incorporation of the theme into this one. And it was a lot of fun!
Thanks @cameron-dunlap! We greatly appreciate the feedback! We wanted to get some more déjà vu elements integrated into the game, but that got lopped off as a result of the time constraints. But we're glad that you wanted to see more content! Making this game was a ton of fun. =)
@aless I'm glad it wasn't too hard. In our last submission people thought our game was extremely difficult. Hopefully we didn't go too far in the opposite direction this time, lol. =P
Many thanks for playing! We greatly appreciate it!
@sophiemae0 Thank you sooo much! I worked hard on that art, lol. =)
Sorry that the hit box wasn't perfectly aligned!
Thank you sooo much @riroriro!! That positive feedback seriously means so much to us, heh. We obsessed much while we were working on this. =)
Thank you for the feedback @firebelley! I admittedly was debating with myself whether I had made the attack too slow or not. I actually wound up liking it because I wanted there to be some kind of feeling of tension -i.e., I wanted the operators to feel like they weren't going to be able to attack again in time before a bad guy hits them. I was also thinking it would be really neat if a charm could be equipped to increase attack speed. O__O
Many thanks @popdaddygames ! We greatly appreciate you playing our game!
Thank you @annie-owl! We concur with you. We definitely want to do MORE. =)
Thanks @vphyre! Zelda is obviously one of my favorite video games. =D
Many thanks @itskdog ! That's awesome that you did that! Did you ever try programming for an actual 8-bit Nintendo before?
Many thanks @unfocused-locust-games ! And thank you for recognizing my call out to SMB 2! I really love that game even though many people tell me "it's weird." And I know I know "Doki Doki Panic," yada yada. But I still think it's a great game! =)
Thank you so much @pink-shard-games ! We really wanted to do random rooms believe it or not, and we wanted to make more than one level. We tried to cram as much as we could, heh. Thanks again!
Thanks @fabula-rasa ! We had additional déjà vu elements planned for this one, but the time ran out on the clock. =)
Congratulations @acuriosity ! Many thanks for playing it all the way through to the end. We really appreciate that you did that.
I agree with your feedback. If we made the boss, "Queenie," more bouncy for instance I think that would be more satisfying. I didn't consider preventing the player from picking up hearts at full health. That would be useful in our case because our game allows you to go back and pick up items that were dropped later if you need them. So thanks for that suggestion! We can also adjust the collision box being used for the feet. Maybe we should make a beefed up version of this game that goes beyond what we were able to put together for this Ludum Dare.
@monkosum We hear you. Believe it or not we originally intended to have the dungeons randomly generated. (That's probably not too hard to imagine actually, heh.) We also wanted more déjà vu elements and NPC dialogue. All of these things are easy for us to do, but time constraints, yada yada. Oh, and if you check out source repository, you'll even see that the original art committed had an extra item slot, heh. =)
Many thanks @eugenik ! We really appreciate that you played our game! =D
It's just like Minecraft! Only instead of resources... Oh my god, IT'S PEOPLE!!! IT'S ALLLL PEOPLE!!!!!! OH MY GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE. WHY?!!! WHHHHHHYYYYYYY??????!!!!!! :: proceeding to weep gently ::
Great game! I'm thoroughly impressed with your coding skills!
I gave this one 5/5 across the board. I loved it! And I recommended it to all of my friends. I loved this one thing that you did in the end, but I'm guessing I shouldn't give the ending away, lol. Great job!
Hey, you did a dungeon crawler too! Did you use Famitracker for everything like we did?
Great job! You clearly have great taste. =P
@itskdog Oh, seriously? I used Deflemask when it was first announced, but it was really limited in its capability at the time. I'll try it again. Thank you for the inside scoop!
@itskdog Famitracker is also free and it let's you do a 99.999% accurate composition for the 8-bit NES 2A03 chip. And you can emulate the chip expansions that were made available through cartridges. It was used for a featured arrangement in Cave Story and in many other places as well. It's possible you might really like it if you haven't tried it yet.
Fun game. I apparently have hulk like strength, able to toss ranges and refrigerators outside my windows willy nilly, lol.
Really good puzzle game! You definitely nailed the theme and were innovative with this one!
Great job!
Not too many games have dealt with the hardships of being a poop. I totally pwned this game many times. Good job! =P
This was an awesome game! Great job! Very cute characters. Great dialog. Great sound effects. Great effects actually. And this was unique. I like how I'm looking ahead to what my next operations are going to be.
Ahhh... I have carpal tunnel syndrome now from clicking faster than a pumped hamster on a time traveling wheel taking 'roids!!! =P
Great game!
Ahhh.... This game is amazing. I love it! You're the guy! O__O!
How did you do all that amazing art/animations in only two days? I love the puzzle aspect. This is SUCH a good game.
This might sound like a weird comment, but would you be interested in showing me your workflow in setting up your projects by any chance? I feel like it would bring me a lot of satisfaction in being able to achieve this kind of art form. I'll totally pay you money for this. You'll basically be my "Professor 100th-coin" for one hour. It would really mean a lot to me. Many thanks in advance.
@100th-coin Woo hoo! Thaaaaaank you! I'm at work right now, but I'll hit you up once I'm done with that. Thanks again! =)
Many thanks @coolp @100th-coin @hpa97 @sirfist19 and @initialposition ! I'm glad you like the game! =D
@michaelyount Many thanks!
@qzqxq Many thanks! Thanks for the kind words on the music! It actually means a lot to me that you think I made a lot of music because the competition seems pretty fierce. I was definitely afraid that I didn't write enough. O__O! Also, I'm really enjoying compositions that I'm hearing from other games that are using more sophisticated software, which I also have access to and am contemplating switching to. It's just that I get such an adrenaline rush from writing music for the 8-bit NES's 2A03 sound chip, which is what I did for this game. It will probably be hard to pry my fingers off of that for some time, heh.
@shone Thanks! We agree that it needed more content. Time constraints and yada yada, heh. We're glad that we really nailed the main mechanics of the game, though. We were envisioning a larger bestial variety, more environmental effects, etc. This was our first game with this group of people and it worked out really well. Maybe we'll be doing the next Ludum Dare.
This is an excellent game! That's freaking amazing that you did this all in 48 hours. And you've definitely nailed the theme. I am most impressed. =D
This is SUCH a good game. I love the music. I love the art. I love how it fits in with the theme. I love the shops. I love the SFX. I'm definitely recommending this one, heh. Great job! =D
Good job with this game! The grappling hook was fun, heh. I totally pwn3d all the bad guys. =P
The animations are amazing. D=
Great job! I also think the audio was great and this was (most importantly) a really fun game!
@gamermomentum Many thanks!
@leyamez Did you achieve all four glitches?! You're awesome! Many thanks for playing! We really appreciate it! =D
@morepixels Many thanks for playing! We'll give you a little hint on how to beat it. There are four total glitches that you have to activate and you don't necessarily always do it by listening to everything from the characters you meet. =)
@bigface Many thanks! We greatly appreciate you playing through it!
Many thanks @max-makes-things! I'm glad you liked!
Thank you @jpgfg ! @zabenderman made Wallace the worm. And he's definitely enjoying all of your comments, heh.
Thank you @iori-branford ! We're glad you like it! We definitely enjoyed making this particular entry.
@khaotom Was it the bee that stumped you by any chance? If so I can give you a little help. You get a cool ending for figuring out all four rooms. =)
Thanks so much for playing our game!
@nick-shooter Psh! Whatever! We'll totally do an ending that will scare the pants off you next time! =P
Many thanks for playing! We greatly appreciate it!
Many thanks @lychee! Those comments really mean a lot to us! We're glad that you liked it!
@jane-wei Aww... Thanks for playing! We greatly appreciate you playing it through all the way to the end! I'll try to search for sounds a little less soothing next time. Mua ha ha ha ha. =P
@gamermomentum Hey we just uploaded a MacOS link in case you have a hankering to fish with a worm (and possibly have MacOS). Warning: playing may or may not result in actually catching a fish. =P
Thanks @chillertyp ! It means a lot to me that you like the music. And ya, a lot of people are telling me that the game has Zelda vibes, heh. =D
Many thanks @real-flamingicecubegames ! Ya, I'm with you on the run button, heh. I'm glad someone else is commenting on it too. =D
Thanks so much for playing the game. We greatly appreciate it!
@mhorth Many thanks for the comment! You got me all excited now to do another game. Maybe you should do a game with us sometime? =D
@mhorth Woot! Definitely hit me up! =D
@mascoll Hahaha. Nice! Many thanks for playing our game! We greatly appreciate it!
I only play your game now, lol. Time for the fan art to begin!
My Sketches 2 - 2021-10-09 22.53.52 (1).png
This is amazing. You have a great work flow here obviously. The style and atmosphere is amazing. I love it!
Oh, man. I love this! I genuinely was engaged. I love your art style and I love me my isometric games. I also love how it's turn based and how you have shops to gain upgrades. This is a good game. Oh, plus you integrated the theme in there with the unstable ground. Good job!
Link worked for me! I love the graphics and I love cooking games! Good way to incorporate the theme unstable as well!
Hey Great game! And a funny take on the theme. I also like the progression of new mechanics introduced, like portals and such.
@charlesschar Many thanks for all the kind words! And we're glad that you liked it!
Thank you @okamit ! I'm glad that you're on Team Spacebar too, as so am I. =P
Thanks @sergio-nikol ! I'm glad that I didn't make the music too loud. I was honestly concerned about that since NES audio can be a bit loud. =)
@locke8 Many thanks! I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
@gatlink Lol. I hope we didn't get you in trouble!
I was actually thinking the same thing for the arrow indicator and for having more levels that introduce the mouse.
Many thanks for the kind words and we're glad that you enjoyed your experience! We want this to be a full fledged game as well. Maybe add some world maps, more/better cinematics, a lot more levels, etc, etc. =D
Hey @sacredbacon ! We never tried testing in a Windows VM. But we just made a new build that we think will work for you. Let's us know if this build works! Many thanks for playing the game!
I really loved this game! The atmosphere created by the audio and the character designs were all perfect. Great job!
You did the micro games format! Warioware ftw, lol. I gave this a perfect 5 across the board. The music was fantastic. Like the Star Trek music references, the mario music references, etc.
I totally pwned this game. I loved the connection to the theme also. Like how all those skel-e scum were just avoiding the inevitable before facing their ultimate demises from my death gun. MwahAhAhaHaHAhAhA!!!
I like this game! It's very imaginative. It also kind of reminds me of The Dragon Prince, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't the intent, heh.
Oh my god. This is such a good game! I really want to see an entire game in this art style now! I looooooove it!
This is REALLY good and such a good format for this Jam. Essentially you got two games and a lot of character dialogue in between and you even got a good overarching story. I agree with others above that this is top notch. Fantastic Art. Fantastic music. Fantastic character design. Fantastic writing. 5 / 5
Wow. You went to task at writing! This definitely had a very Doki Doki Literature Club to it. I like it! Have you considered doing a weekly comic of sorts using this format? I wonder if a new genre can be started that's almost as popular as manga...
This game is freaking incredible, lol. It looks great. It sounds great. It's fun to play. You got the theme too! I approve.
I love the pixel-y goodness and the bullet hell effect in this game. The death animations are also top notch. This is the sort of thing that I love to see! Good job! You are really talented! =D
Holy smokes. This is amazing. Great job!
Oh, cool. Basically utilize the screen wrap and picking up of plants (are they radishes?) in order to make puzzle-y games. I approve! It kind of reminds me of Super Mario Brothers 2 for some reason with the picking up of plants. That is actually oddly satisfying. Good job!
We made a Game Boy game for this submission too by the way! Great minds... =P
The art is gorgeous!
I have no idea how you did all that, lol. I'm definitely jelly. Good job!
Fair enough... But I'm still jelly, lol. I've never put together a game like this. =)
This game is very meta, lol. I can't believe how much time I spent killing Harvest Simulator developers, haha. The graphics are fantastic and the dark humor is really great. Brilliant entry! =)
Holy smokes. Who knew that growing enormous monocultures of plant species that are appealing to ladybugs would have disadvantages? D=
Great game! And great incorporation of the theme!
I really like the message in this one and I like how the violin sounds dissonant while I'm chopping the trees down. It basically feels like I'm doing something wrong before I even get the final score and see the effect that I had on Nature, heh.
I can't believe you did this all. Great job! I love this game! =D
@yahel-dooley Many thanks! I really appreciate you playing it and providing your feedback. =D
I just played your game by the way. I am thoroughly impressed with what you put together. I'm totally jelly, heh.
@elmoeinstein Thank you!! I greatly appreciate your positive feedback and I greatly appreciate you trying out our game!
@pfannkuchen It could be that the embedded web application wasn't in focus, like @epicgamefan said. But... You might have more success if you try playing the game on your cell phone believe it or not. The web app actually makes your cell phone look like a Game Boy with the controls and all. It's pretty cool, heh. Lastly, you can download the Game Boy ROM that is also in the itch.io link and try playing it in a Game Boy emulator. =)
@moonlightbomber Thanks! We tested the game on a purely FPGA implemented Analogue Pocket and it worked great. So you should hopefully have success running it on your own hardware as well!
Thank you @mrchickenboy ! We really appreciate the kind words! =D
Ya, the emulator does a really good job emulating the limitations of the actual Game Boy hardware. On the real GB there is no sprite priority which the developer can control. So if a sprite is more right compared to another one, then it’s on top. Otherwise, it will be displayed behind.
@fusionnist Lol. I was actually contemplating doing a joke game where you put the most ridiculous things into your pocket. Like you might find a dog that needs to be returned to its owner, so you put it into your pocket. In Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link, you rescue a Kidnapped Child and you pick him up like he was just any other item in the game. I don't know why, but I always found that really funny, heh.
@killian0213 Thank you so much! And thank you for that link! That is a really cool game! I didn't know that that was a thing, lol. I'm almost wondering if this kind of game can be done Manga-style, where a new game is released maybe every week and gives you another piece to some overarching storyline. Not only would these weekly releases give audiences good reading material, but they would be interactive too. =)
Thanks @grotfang ! We were working within the limitations of actual Game Boy hardware, but we could've made the cursor move speed faster. We decided to go with what was mostly the standard movement speed for most Game Boy games, but I think the crowd has spoken. They want a faster cursor!
@froissant You can totally do it! Making games for the Game Boy is extremely satisfying. =P
@slush Many thanks! To be clear, this is actually a Game Boy ROM! The controls that you are using are a part of the emulator that is embedded in the web app. You can also download the ROM and play it in your own emulator if you like that more. =D
Thanks again!
Many thanks @slush !
Proof to all that this is an actual Game Boy game, lol. =)

20230113_222309_-_Copy.jpg
Thank you @spyranteros ! We greatly appreciate the kind words! =)
Thanks @yaen ! We greatly appreciate the kind words!
That's freaking awesome @thyoi ! Seeing this game on other handhelds is such a sight. Thank you very much for going through all the effort to get it onto a handheld device! You == Awesome
@sephowepho Many thanks for playing the game and for all the kind words! We really like the Game Boy experience, so we were hoping we could show people why these games are so much fun!
Thanks for the kind words @yorsh ! Ya, I wasn't sure how we were going to be able to get more story into the game to maybe go more into the origins of the "monster" that you are fighting (mainly because of the time constraints of a Ludum Dare Jam). But gosh, I just wanted an item that you had to craft together to make the end battle extra special. =D
@Thanks @kikiriki367 ! We just added a note in the description about playing with a mobile device! We're glad that playing that way gave you a really good experience! We're also glad that you share the same love for the Game Boy experience as we do! =D
@fis Many thanks! I actually wanted to do a Ludum Dare Jam with Pico because I see a lot of charm in having a really small game. But the limitations of a Game Boy forces something even smaller and being able to run something on actual Game Boy hardware was something that I just couldn't pass up!
Thank you for playing our game @sakura-magika ! It looks like you crushed it! And thanks for the compliments on the art and music! =D
Thank you @cappa-games ! It seems like the crowd has spoken. We will get everyone a faster cursor! =)
Thanks @dis0rder ! Ya, we really wanted to make a game that gives people the Game Boy experience. I feel a nostalgia overload from it. And correct! We used GB Studio. I essentially churned out art and music while @epicgamefan brought everything together. Also, all the humor in the game is his along with a lot of the writing. GB Studio proved to work well in a multi-person development environment where we could use Git version control as well. If you want to know more, definitely feel free to reach out to me.
We like the START/SELECT suggestion too by the way. Consider it done!
Thanks @chompdev ! We greatly appreciate the kind words. We definitely wanted the crafting for a little extra complexity. =D
@bloodbane Haha. Thanks for just referring to the item as "that item." =)
Also, glad that you played our game generally speaking! Much appreciation!
@matank Many thanks! Ya, we wanted more dialogue generally speaking. A message like, "you tried using the mallet, but it's not touch enough" is a great suggestion. Also, thanks for all the kind words! =D
@f1krazy Thanks! There's no crafting for Demon Face. Here's a hint: You use an item that you needed to use already just to get to Demon Face. =P
Thanks again!
@samuli Oh my god. That's sooo cool! I'm so sorry I missed your comment until now. You have the MOST vintage entry here! Thank you so much!!! You <== Super Awesome
@binaryprinciple Many thanks! I wonder if a full game in this format that has more experimentation would draw interest?
@patrickrmc Thank you so much! Sorry that you got stuck in the end there. D= I bet you almost had it! Maybe there was something that you had to read there in order to figure it out...
This is a really good game! I love how relaxing it is and I do find it innovative and a very good use of the theme! I give this game two thumbs up!
I love the pixel-y art style.
I also like the direction that you decided to take with your theme. Good game choice overall actually. =)
You are an artiste! This is a really good entry and I enjoyed it a lot. =D
Holy smokes. The art and music are amazing. It's very relaxing as I harvest my precious resources, heh. Good job!
Great game! I approve! I'm feeling intimidated that you could put together something so well working solo!
Great delivery concept. I like how I was able to choose my tasks and how they made great use of the Ludum Dare theme! =D
I totally got to 64 perfects and the crow never laid a feather on me. Mua ha ha ha ha! =P
Great game!
Rec-og-nize!
This game says I have a good memory, so it MUST be true!
Win.png
Now time for me to go to that place... Where the forks... And milks... Is. =D
Great game! I like the graphics and the integration of this Ludum Dare's theme. I'm a return player as a result of your Delivery Boy Forever game! =D
I love this. I gave it straight 5s across the board. This is a perfect game. =D
Thanks for the kind words @kabura ! And sorry for the late reply! We honestly didn't know that we had already published, lol.
And yes, we got inspiration from Celeste, Shovel Knight, and a third thing that you'll have to beat the game in order to find out. =P
Thank you so much for playing!
Thanks @firebelley ! Yes, I have to agree that the spikes are unforgiving, lol. They are what you call "very very menacing spikes." =P
Thank you for spending a good amount of time on it. That means a lot to us! O__O
Thank you @fersyvanderzee ! I really appreciate the pixel art and music comments. My musical inspirations are Yuzo Koshiro, Jeroen Tel, Nobuyuki Hara and Naoki Kodaka.
I'm really fond of pixel art. I aspire to be like Paul Robertson. =D
Thanks @sodoj ! You are quite correct that the walls are really sticky, lol. It definitely requires being careful around them. D=
Thanks again for playing! It's greatly appreciated!
Holy smokes @zungryware ! You are awesome, lol. Thank you so much for all your feedback. You provide it in like the best way possible. And that looks like that took some quality time.
We're going to try implementing the features and bug fixes suggested.
Also, thanks for the feedback on the OST. =D
It probably comes as no surprise that I did it with Famitracker. I was using the music from the NES game, Fester's Quest, for my inspiration. Sunsoft has really solid game scores for the NES. (So does Konami, but I'm here to talk about Sunsoft today, heh.)
Thanks again and hope you're having a great day!
I totally owned this one log with a life meter. Take that LOG! =P
Good game!
I love this game! I like the art, the mechanics, and the integration of the delivery theme into the design. I generally speaking like games that are formatted like this. Good job! =D
I love it! I gave it straight 5s across the board. Good job!
Nice game! I got some good bounce moves on the boxes there to get past the spikes. =P
I'm a sucker for binary art. I think it looks really great and I liked the retro styled SFX. Not too hard to navigate either. Good job!
I loved this. Great music. Great graphics. And I was engaged. 5 stars across the board. Good job!
@hangovergames Many thanks! We greatly appreciate the kind words.
Thanks @zeit ! And heck ya we'll play your game! Expect to hear from us soon! =D
Also, thanks for the kind words on the music. I have an unhealthy Famitracker addiction, heh. I suppose if we ever port this game to the NES, we'll have the music covered. =)
Thanks @lettas ! Ya, we spent a lot of time on the kicks and did a lot with balancing so that the game is rewarding if you use the full potential of the controls, yet still rewarding when you use just a subset of the controls. Hopefully we pulled it off with the time constraints in place. O__O!
@mduo13 Many thanks for the kind words! The guys who worked on this put a lot of work into getting you that crisp and smooth action. By the way, the orb-like creatures keep shoving me into the walls as well, lol. Sometimes I'm in the wall and I'm like, "Which orb-guy did that?!"
Thank you so much for the comments on the music. I definitely have this "unhealthy addiction" with Famitracker, which allows us to emulate what a Nintendo would generate from Ricoh 2A03 instructions that we specify in Famitracker's nifty tracker interface.
@linwenhao Many thanks! And ya, I agree, lol. It feels like I'm trying to manage too much space in the beginning. When the bots finally shrink up the space a bit, it's way more manageable to kick the robots out. Getting three hits and then kicking the screen is super effective at destroying the most robots for sure.
Thanks @amberfall92 ! We actually fixed the controls for people who aren't using a controller. I have to say, though, when I started using the controller for the first time it was way overpowered, heh. I think the controls on the keyboard are way more powerful now. =O
This was a really good game. Therapeutic in comparison with a lot of the Ludum entries, heh. And it also works well for the theme. Great job! =)
I love this game! These are the kinds of graphics that I want to do. The tile set is really satisfying and the character designs are really great. I feel like I'm playing as Papyrus, which is something that I've always wanted to do to be clear, lol.
Also, great mechanics for the theme and overall just a great game. =)
I really loved this game. The graphics are solid. The controls are very accessible even though they are also unique. The HUD also provides really good feedback. This gets high ratings across the board. This is how I want to do a game, heh. Good job!
Ya, I would totally download a car. What could go wrong there? =P
Many thanks @funday-games ! I love the game that your studio came up with btw! It's gorgeous. O__O!
Thank you @gonzo13 ! The kind words are greatly appreciated!
@itskdog Many thanks! That means a lot to me that you played all four stages. I didn't know whether I was going to like doing this kind of a game, but now I really want to expand on this and increase the monster variety, summon variety, stage variety, etc. Thanks again!
@montymoneybags Thank you! Thank you!
@jacobingalls Yass!!! I'm glad that you're on Team Wind! I like Wind with Ice mixed in. The clicking and dragging could definitely help with reducing the click-storm that one must engage in to get all the mana. We're thinking that maybe more rewarding mana could also be dropped, but less frequently. Like same pay off with less clicking. Many thanks for playing!
This game is really cool! You really inspired me. I want to do a game just like this now... Good job!
Oh my god. The art / animations are so good in this... Very innovative and on target with the theme. Very jealous. Good job!
This game is very funny. Definitely wonder how you handled all the fusion-like logic. Good job!
Alicorns for the win! \m/ >:D \m/
Great job. I like the ponies. And I like how it's integrated with the theme.
I love the art and solid game play mechanics. How does one pull this off in like 3 days?? =)
This is really cool! I'm inspired. I haven't done a compo yet, but I like that you're able to focus on all the elements in order to achieve a cohesive/coherent environment. Great job!
This is really cool! I like the Halloween feel to it as well. Great music and great art. I approve. =)
@creeper-nade That comment means a lot to me. Terraria music is the best!
I was thinking of this song from an indie game called "Witch N Wiz" when I wrote it. And the music is entirely composed with Famitracker. Maybe we should make a full NES version of the game. =)
Thank you @jajo ! Your comments are much appreciated! We're glad you liked it!
I have not yet used Construct 2... O__O! Good job on this! I really liked the mood and the lil' guy fighting against the larger than life boss. =)
This has really good graphics and very fitting with the theme. I'm also jealous that you got this embedded into your page, lol. Great job!
This one's really good. I love the graphics, audio, and the game itself. It also perfectly fits in with the game. Straight 5s across the board from me. =)
Good job!
Really good game. I love the explosions with the bats. It's incredibly satisfying. And the bats seemed to have pretty good organic interactions with me. Good job!
This was a fantastic entry. I absolutely love it! It's getting 5 across the board from me. =)
This is a really imaginative entry. Good/Interesting mechanics. Good environmentals. Definitely really good music. Great job!
I loved this. I gave it 5/5 across the board. Hope you make it to the top!
I loved this one. Great challenges. Great music. Great aesthetic. I'm giving it 5/5 across the board. Hope you make it to the top!
@eggsscrambled Thanks! It's the default palette for the 8-bit Game Boy. This is literally an 8-bit Game Boy ROM that we made and that we have playing in a Game Boy emulator embedded in a web page. I really hope you liked it! =)
@randomhuman Yay! Thank you for playing it! I greatly appreciate it! =)
@fireye Hahaha. Thanks! I'm glad you liked that. =)
@matt-giuca Many thanks!
@guitarbro You can do it!!! I'll give you a hint. If you look at the safe with the odd shapes that match the chalkboard, they're numbered 1 through 15. You'll see a post-it note with equations. The chalkboard equations should all make sense once you know what the shapes mean.
We actually did come up with this concept for the depth. Sorry it seems like a stretch. =(
@guitarbro Yay! Thanks for playing it to the end! Much appreciated. =D
@thunnus Many thanks for playing it that long! Do you remember where you got your two keys? I can give you a hint for finding the third one. =)
@almost Oh! You are only missing 1 key and it's in the fridge. Try looking for a book in a certain toilet room. It might tell you what you need to do. =)
Since this is an actual Game Boy game, using a mouse isn't an option unfortunately. It has incredible limitations for sure.
@shasaur Thanks for playing! After collecting three keys and getting past the locked door in the Desk room (using the notes/logs left behind by Moreau to determine which buttons to push), you'll come to an area with a lot of tunnels. That's where the map comes in handy.
@empyreans Thank you so much for playing (and beating it)! It's much appreciated. We have a fondness for classics, like Shadowgate (we both played the NES version), and we both like escape rooms. So we decided to do a game where you're escaping the depths. =)
@thunnus Woah. Many many thanks for completing it! That's obviously a developer's biggest hope. By the way, the best Christmas of my life was the year I got a Game Boy. That is very strange to me because the Nintendo was unquestionably my favorite console. But my parents got me the Game Boy, a rechargeable battery thingy, and I had Super Mario Land and Tetris. I can't believe how excited that made me receiving that as a kid. O__O
@alphish Many many thanks! I really appreciate you taking the time to get through the entire game. It means a lot to us! =)
@sebbernery Oh my god. You. Are. Awesome. Thank you so much for going all the way through the game! And you put it onto a handheld? That's gorgeous!
Thanks so much for posting this. You just made my day. =D
Thank you @sinclairstrange ! You're awesome. We're really happy that you took the time to play through the game and we also love that you share the same affinity for the Game Boy that we do. =)
I love it! You did really good art for this one. It's the best art I've encountered in the entries so far. I also love how you made a completely playable and fun game on your first try. It's making me think of "Getting Over It." So you just keep trying over and over until you're finally able to get yourself into the next area.
Oh my god, this is SO cool! How did you make this? I'm soooo jelly. You must show me! O__O
Virus Singularity.png
I just gave this straight 5/5s across the board. I can't believe you made a Genesis ROM for your compo. My mind has been blown. =)
I really loved this. I played the crap out of it. I want to do a card game myself now, lol. Also, it seems completely solid, which is much appreciated. With a large variety of different upgrades that you can get every time you win, it further keeps you engaged. Great job, great game. =)
This is really cool. I think I'm going to use PICO-8 next time. This is the second game that I've seen made with PICO-8 and I love the style. I played the crap out of this and really enjoyed. It's perfect. =)
corpse-collector.png
You guys do good art. What the heck.
I totally pwn3d this game hardcore, btw! =P
At least I think I did:
Screenshot 2025-10-12 154521.png
Great job!
Mwa ha ha ha ha! I gathered the acorns to summon Beelzebub!
YouWin.png
Perfect for the Ludum Dare Theme and perfect for just this time of year!
Great game! I love the art and I love the mechanic. Also like that Godot was used. I need to start using that engine more. =)
This game is incredible. I have no idea how you all put this together. Perfect as a Halloween theme and perfect for the Collector theme. Perfect game! I gave it 5/5s across the board. =)
How the heck does one create a 3D platformer like this in 72 hours. I really enjoyed this and I love the music as well. Good job! =)
This is so cool. You chose wisely by going with PICO-8! It reminds me of an Atari game called Kaboom! And not just because of PICO-8's natural Atari aesthetic, heh.
Very cool compo. Great job and thank you for inspiring me today. =)
@glassmoongames Oh, I love making Game Boy games! I almost did the GB Jam too! I didn't think that I was going to be able to dedicate enough time to do what I wanted to do for the GB Jam, though. For some reason being given more time to work on a project feels more intimidating than being given less time. At the very least I feel like I have to produce a lot more, heh. Definitely share your project! =)
Oh, and thanks for the kind words on the game! I'm glad you recognize my tip of the hat to the GB color palette. I was considering redoing the color palette if I had more time in the end (I didn't), but by restricting myself to these four colors I honestly saved myself a ton of development time.
@lue That is like the ultimate compliment. Thanks! I was honestly hoping to make a bunch of a bugs that people could find loveable. I blame Hollow Knight for this. =)
@qiqiqi Many thanks for the kind words! Ya, I only got a few sound effects in. I found working the art, audio, and programming in a one-man-show to be quite daunting, lol. I would definitely like more sound FX / environmentals for sure. =)
@ehtd "Clunky" or "Klunky?" Huh? Huh? See what I did there? =P
You can totally beat it! And the game gives you an awesome ending if you do! =)
@debugman18 Thank you debugman18! I hope you got to debug a fair share of bugs in this one. =)
@einfach Thank you so much! I love how you share the same affinity for bug collecting as I do, haha. You, sir, are awesome. =)
@mramaizng Thank you! The part about it feeling good to move around is enormously appreciated. Oh heck, and everything else that you said is enormously appreciated too, haha. I was definitely trying to achieve some sort of cohesive style with the art, gameplay, and music. So I'm equally glad that you are diggin' it!
@nuzcraft Yay!!! Thank you for playing it all the way to the end! That's the best feeling, lol. Ya, I think stage 1 and stage 2 in particular had a little bit of a slow down. Of course I'm only now thinking of ways that I can make it faster (like now that we're past the submission deadline). =)
Thanks again!
@jpgfg Holy smokes! Thank you so much for your write up! Let me respond to a lot of what you said. I really appreciated how much thought you put into it.
I'm glad you appreciate the color palette! I told myself that I could change the color palette later if I had more time, but I definitely ran out of time. Limiting myself to these four colors honestly saved me a lot of time, though. It was also a tip of the hat to Game Boy. (I really love making Game Boy games.)
For the boss mechanics (this was done in Game Maker) I made each one a unique state machine. So essentially in the code you will see that I defined the different states that I was thinking could work:
enum BIG_FLY_STATES { flying_down_left, flying_up_left, flying_down_right, flying_up_right, flying_left, flying_right, }
Using this coding pattern I was able to code really fast because it's basically speed-coding a laundry list of behavior that I wanted to see. It was easy to transition to different states all using just 1 timer.
Thanks for the comment about the bug collection room! I love the original Kirby game for the Game Boy and the NES. Whenever I ate some character and absorbed their power, it was amazing to see them on a pedestal in a museum later. (You had the added ability that you could eat the museum exhibits and gain their powers as well.) Also, things like hunter's journals I find to be very satisfying. So I kind of combined the concepts where you'll see an empty pedestal and then wonder, "What's supposed to go there?" The ordering of the characters was semi-random as you can tell. I became sort of organized by putting all the boss bugs on the right and all the regular bugs on the left, but their ordering is also kind of indicative of the creation order of the bugs. Some bugs that I created early on were noticeably too hard for early levels, so I moved their battles to later, but I didn't update the location in the museum.
Okay, you are the FIRST person to tell me that I can double jump! I didn't know, lol. I tried it just now. If I walk up to a wall from the right side and mash the jump button, there it is. I guess this will stay in the game as a cool artifact of speed coding for a Ludum Dare.
I noticed there was some slow down too. I know a really easy way to make the game faster... This optimization might have to make it into a later version of the game if this ever gets made into something grander (post-Ludum Dare).
I concur with the weapon range. Believe it or not, you're also the first person to mention this. It's definitely true. Klunk needs him a larger bug smashing club.
On your comments about secrets, I really really want to do that. The enjoyment that one gets from exploring through long windy caves is exponentially increased when they can smash down obstructions, create shortcuts, and find secret stash. It elevates a game from being fun to being great. =)
Thanks again! Let's definitely hang! Maybe we can make a sick Metroidvania some time. My dream is to get into a small group where we achieve this fantastic flow and create large and wonderful worlds to explore.
@salm Thank you so much for getting all the way through to the end! It makes my day knowing that you did.
I also like the "cute but not easy" comment. Klunk is deceptively not easy for sure. =)
@jacobingalls Many thanks! I greatly appreciate it! Achieving cohesiveness was definitely something that I was trying to strive for. I wouldn't say that you're terrible at platforming, though, as I was definitely adding difficulty into it so that it would genuinely feel like an accomplishment. Thanks again! =)
@discon Thanks! Ya, I'm a sucker for the old 8-bit NES / Game Boy era games. ;-)
@tyminix Thank you very much! The kind words are greatly appreciated. Your "Call Hector, Organ Collector" game is bad ass by the way! =)
Thank you @makoteam! I love making Game Boy games too by the way. I'm sure there are no surprises there. =)
@flying-dog-fish Thanks for playing! It's greatly appreciated. =)
@kit-gorn Thanks! I greatly appreciate the kind words. I definitely tried to create a video game with a beginning, middle, and end (and achieve cohesiveness with it).
@marudziik Many thanks! I greatly appreciate the kind words. I used Famitracker for the audio by the way. Essentially composing within the confines of the 8-bit NES Ricoh 2A03 sound chip. =)
@evil23 Many thanks for the kind words and for all the feedback! It's much appreciated. =)
Thanks @maneoliz ! I appreciate the kind words! =)
Thanks @xpoho !
@zliebowitz Many thanks! And many thanks for playing it all the way through to the end. That completely makes my day. =D
Thank you @miku ! I really appreciate the kind words. =)
Thank you @liquid ! I'm glad you like it! I did the music with Famitracker, which allows you to do old school 8-Bit NES Ricoh 2A03 sound processor compositions. I think I have an unhealthy obsession with it. O__O!
Many thanks @apdt ! I enormously appreciate the kind words from someone who has the same affinity for platformers as I do. =D
I love this game. Great graphics. Lots of fun. And it definitely works with the theme. I gave it 5/5 in every category. =)
This was bad ass. It's crazy that people can put first person games into web browsers in 72 hours these days. It reminded me a lot of Duke Nuke 'Em and Doom (definitely a really good thing, lol). Great job!
This game is fantastic and you have definitely inspired me. I want to make games like this. O__O
Straight 5/5s across the board. Great job!
I feel SO bad for anyone with type O blood tonight, hahaha. And I feel really bad for everyone when AB is the recipient. Really good game. Very creepy. Very Death-Race-ish. Strong in dark humor. Great job! =)
OH, Ren'Py! I want to use this as well, but the team that I usually do game jams with can never seem to get on board. I guess I also lack writing skills, lol. This was a very cool entry. Great job! =)
I caught 'em all!
Please Be Kind.png
This game has perfect scope, it's perfect with the theme, delivers a complete and satisfying experience. It's a perfect game!
I just gave this 5/5s across the board. =)
I got all the artefacts! YAYS!
I loved this. This is a perfect compo.
Congratulations! You win (for completing this compo)!
You Win.png
Great job! =)
This is a really good game. The art was perfect. The mechanics were perfect. The interface felt so polished. This definitely gets a lot of creds for creativity. Good job!
I love the Baba Is You style and coloring. This is actually the type of game that I've been really wanting to make for a while. Really good job! I'm giving it 5/5. =)
This is perfect. I totally went after all my body parts to get myself reassembled and acquired new abilities as I went along the way. I got better as I learned the rooms through revisiting. I'm a sucker for Metroidvanias. This was a good use of the theme. I gave this 5/5s across the board!
Ya! Finally a game where I get to be the hero! These hu-mon's puny bullets are useless, lol. MuahAHaHAHaHaHA! And in the end I save the world from mankind. I love happy endings! =)
Very cool entry and very much in theme!
I really loved this game! I love traditional Konami-style Beat 'Em Ups, like TMNT Arcade, Simpsons Arcade, and Streets of Rage (last one being Sega). And it's for the sick sister. Equally love that. Also, got the good music going for it. These types of games aren't easy to create. I gave 5/5s across the board. =)
This has gorgeous pixel art and a perfect color palette. Also, interesting use of a deck builder to go with the collector theme. I like your style and taste in video games. =)
This was really creative, lol. Good job! I like the art and unique game mechanics! =)
